writing down my ideas for this before i forget:

- éponine arrives late to the barricade and marius has already taken the bullet meant for her. grief stricken, she decides to fight on in his name.

- éponine sees gavroche getting shot and goes mad with grief, screaming at the national guard. she gets shot in the shoulder but is pulled back into the inn before she can get killed.

- valjean arrives at the barricade. he doesn’t know what marius looks like but when he sees an injured boy inside the inn and finds cosette’s letter in his pocket, he assumes this is his daughter’s beloved.

- valjean carries éponine through the sewers. thénardier doesn’t recognise his daughter (bc ofc he doesn’t) and is more upset that she doesn’t have anything on her that he can steal.

- valjean and éponine make it back to rue l’homme d’armé where cosette immediately recognises that éponine isn’t marius.

- cosette and toussaint put the unconscious éponine in cosette’s bed while valjean cleans himself up. once they take off her hat and clear the sewage off her face, cosette realises that éponine is a girl.

- valjean wants to go out again to find marius but cosette won’t let him as he is tired and injured. she puts on a brave face and says that she’s sure marius will be able to find his way back to her on his own.

- that night, cosette sleeps in valjean’s bed because éponine is in her own and she cries herself to sleep in her dad’s arms.

- the next morning, cosette and valjean set out for the barricade early to search for marius. they find his body. they return it to his grandfather.

- éponine slowly recovers under valjean and cosette’s care. she is very resistant to letting them look after her but she eventually gives in. cue romantic wound tending scenes between her and cosette.

- at some point cosette is going to confront éponine about having marius’ letter. éponine pulls a valjean and paints herself in the worst possible light. they have a big fight but cosette eventually pulls a valjean and forgives her.

- as soon as she can walk again, éponine leaves but she soon returns with azelma and a black eye from her dad. valjean takes them in without hesitation.

- at some point, valjean finds out about javert’s death and they all move back to rue plummet.

- valjean takes éponine under his wing. he teaches her to garden and they spend a lot of time together tending the plants.

- eventually éponine notices the scars on valjean’s wrists and, knowing a lot of criminals, she immediately recognises where he got them from. valjean tells her his whole backstory and begs her not to tell cosette. éponine agrees but encourages him to tell her himself.

- in turn, éponine tells him about how she treated cosette as a child and valjean tries to encourage her not to be so hard on herself. cue healing and the power of love.

- might fuck around with trans masc and/or butch éponine. valjean probably knows some tailors you could go to who don’t ask any questions and i think he’d understand going by a different name then you were given at birth and having parts of your body you have to hide.

- there will definitely be lesbian éponine coming to terms with the comphet she had towards marius and realising she was actually jealous of him and not cosette.

- ends with a flash forward to the future, in which the family has moved out of paris (maybe to digne?). azelma has gotten married and cosette and éponine have opened an orphanage together to help other children like them.

So insane reading about Kev's skills from the perspective of someone who'd played with him before his hand was broken. Like yes Neil was obsessed with him and yes he knew he played differently with his right than his left—but reading it from JEAN'S perspective?? Life changing stuff. When he said the Ravens' defense forgot what Kev was like before he switched hands? I lost my mind.
