"She-Ra is bad bisexual rep because all the bi/pan characters end up in m/f relationships!"
Not true! Perfuma is bi/pan and she ends up with Scorpia!
"Oh, well I like to headcanon Perfuma as a lesbian."
...so then you understand that's not the show's fault, right? That that's just a problem you made up in your head?
-
Excuse me a second, I need to scream about this...
Because this has come up over and over (esp on Twitter and TikTok) with people who want to claim that every bi/pan SPOP character ends up in a m/f relationship... by conveniently pretending Perfuma is not canonically bi/pan herself. And every time they are asked to elaborate why they are ignoring her canon status, they give the same answer: that they consider Perfuma a lesbian because now that she's with a woman, she's "not bi anymore"
And... yeah... you know that's not how it works, right? That being bi/pan is not just a phase you get over? That a bi/pan woman dating another woman doesn't suddenly make her a lesbian any more than it makes a bi/pan person dating someone of the opposite gender magically straight?
The person you are currently dating does not change your bi/pan status. Ever. And insisting it does, especially just so you can score some points by making up an issue about a show to be mad about, is super GD harm harmful to the real bi/pan people in your life.
(This is the exact same thing The Owl House fandom does with Lumity and why Dana had to make Luz present a whole slideshow in the cartoon reminding everyone she is still very much bi even though Amity is a lesbian. TOH fans kept insisting because Luz is dating Amity now, she's a lesbian. Nope. Her and Amity can be married for a billion years and that wouldn't change Luz's orientation.)
"But I heard that someone's roommate's cousin who worked with someone on the show once liked a fanart that showed Scorfuma with the lesbian flag so it's basically canon!"
First of all, the legend of this grows daily and I think it's really telling that this archival obsessed fandom only talks about this mythical like and yet has never been able to produce a single screenshot of it.
But for the sake of argument, let's say that this really happened and actually exists, that someone related to the show, however distantly, liked fanart once that implied Perfuma was a lesbian somehow. That still doesn't make it canon. People related to the show and even ND himself have liked and reblogged all sorts of stuff that isn't canon, including g/a, and have been very clear that the only canon is what happens within the show itself.
And, in the show, Perfuma is canonically bi/pan. We see her crushing on Bow, She-Ra, Huntara and Scorpia. The fact that people want to pretend the Bow thing never happened when he's the only character we see her actually date over the run of the show AND it's a major Season 1 plot point is wild to me and just shows the lengths people will go for bi/pan erasure.
And I get that some people enjoy using Perfuma to tell a story about comphet or coming out as a lesbian later in life and I am fully in favor of doing your thing with your headcanons in fanworks. But when it reaches the point it has now where fans are attacking other fans for saying Perfuma is bi/pan or attacking the show for not having any bi/pan character in same sex relationships when Perfuma is CANONICALLY bi/pan is ridiculous.
Keep in mind that your headcanon is literally just something you made up in your head. It's pretend. Fun, yes, but NOT something you can use as justification to attack people over!
Especially when it's something like this that causes real world harm by perpetuating harmful stereotypes about bi/pan people being "just a phase" or a temporary state that changes based on who you date.

The Dana Terrace Vs Vivienne Medrano, The Great Debate of Two Female Creators
Hello Starry Knights, This is the lovely Kyoko Cane, The Brown Sugah Queen, & cosplayer who performs and visits numerous cons throughout, while making blogs/vlogs on animated media & entertainment.
as you know or are new to this page, I am an artist who also dedicated my fashion in drag, on all my platforms along my artwork & discussions (be it anime or Western) that can affect real-life even fandoms, with a variety of videos.
the title of the post is about The two proclaimed talked about animators, Dana Terrace & Vivienne Medrano, I'll be critiquing how these two women of animation tackle the industry. This will have strong opinions from recent interview videos I've watched.
(I'll be calling Vivienne VIVI FOR SHORT & letting you know, if I were to watch ones in the future affecting my post come on the comments to ask freely, AND YES ALL PROJECTS AND TOPICS ARE NOT WITHOUT THEIR CRITIQUES, FLAWS IF YOU CAN'T HANDLE IT, CHECK OUT THE DAYSTAR VOYAGE, DON'T HATE, APPRECIATE! )
OK LETS GET STARTED In this 3-part segment
1. The Different Artstyles That Made Us Love These Shows.
Vivis work (Helluva Boss & Hazbin Hotel)
Now We all know as fans & lovers of animation when we hear a series that's greenlit after viewing on a television screen, in a magazine, or sponsored in commercials, right? As for these two,
The first time I heard of VIVI's work was on a YouTube ad commercial in line & premiered for the pilot, I was fully captivated by its groundbreaking story, from hazbin hotel to the comedy in helluva boss, along with its ghoulish Beetlejuice-inspired art style.
(which I'm a sucker for the niche, indie projects & gothic horror.)
observing her sketchbook on YouTube, I was drawn in by the captivated humanoid shapes she sketches, along with her fluid & flowing style.
the worldbuilding version of heaven & hell drew me in, after watching hazbin hotel. The pilot had a lot to offer from its dreary horrific turns/obstacles from its character debut, story & distorted beauty that there was a lot to tune Into along my first episode of Helluva Boss,
Now we are gonna get down to lore storytelling and character growth.
(and im fully aware of how the fandom treats the rest of the main & supporting cast not letting them flesh out including the females, btw)
Vivi has so much to offer, after watching the latest episode of Helluva Boss and finishing Hazbin Hotel, I see she has the potential to make a good show on drama & sell it, however with her controversy coming through I feel she needs to learn on how to perceive herself online, so makes it hard for me not to hate her series, be it art and her work.
(its truly good when it wants to be as for the writing ima get to that later. with the stolitz & lumity discourse on part 2)
The owl House by Dana terrace
Now you all know by now, I am a full-on Owl House fan regardless of its show ending early, and my many critics on Dana Terrace drew me in with her macabre art and full-on passionate skeletal pieces after looking at her socials and sketchbook online, as a debut showrunner who made her great stance on lgbt representation she has cemented herself as an acclaimed cartoon creator.
However, she does have her flaws ever since rewatching the series, and a lot to learn about the business, after rewatching The Show and yes I have notes written to prove them,
To add I felt if alex Hirsch wasn't on the project, everyone wouldn't watch that show since yall want it to be the next GRAVITY FALLS,
I love the fandoms that discuss the errors of these creators cause it gives more insight on how to portray yourselves on in the real world, cause lemme tell you, it was all watered down I'm get to that in a minute
one problem i have with particularly since she's a good artist & creator is her depending on certain tropes to carry out her cast, cause some may be harmful, along tropes being flanderized & the writing of character being generic & stereotyped.
She needs work on being a better showrunner cause those skills need Cleaning up including writing certain characters on who gets the spotlight.
NEXT SEGMENT
2. The Good, Great, Bad & Ugly in Fandom Discourse,
Vivis Work (Wow Yall can be Wow)
Vivienne Has made her mark in the YouTube market ever since making her pilot debut on Kesha video & hazbin hotel pilot,
I'm so glad for her contributions towards the indie market cementing her way to showing great representation in the general audience for an adult show, not to mmention disablity rep, yes an adult show and that's not without its controversy,
with her grand debate, I feel everyone took this woman's artwork turning it into something ugly, which is so uncool.
and I for one will not stand for the hate trains of now popular shows flip-flopping and then float back to it cause your series is acclaimed now, let's be real she deserves her crowns and laurels, Just keeping it real, regardless cause its a fire show
The fandom has shown their love of the show cause it knocked down so many doors in many ways, but let's be real the audience is now geared toward children cause we all know, this generation can be doing some crazy things, the way they all need to tone down the language, and let characters breath in the show
which I feel viv needs to work on the jokes. I get, it's an adult show which is concerning and it's a Gen Z world where people have access to computers 247, which contributes to all the nasty discourse and crass behavior not to mention,
fandom needs to calm down her fans when it comes down to her work and the way stoliz is perceived.l can be questionable, not to mention how the females are written which I do know the key word for this below.
cause i rarely do find the females are compelling, but yet to fleshed out like the rest of the male characters so misogynist comes into mind in this show and how it sells
there some moments it only aims to the infamous ship Stolitz (and doesn't let other characters breathe (this is a problem with the owl house which ill get to right now cause the pacing is wow smh)
(next to the owl house which I'll get to cause OMG)
THE OWL HOUSE FANDOM (GRRRR) lemme calm down
If you haven't seen my posts, including the bashing and discourse there's also a list I swear lemme quote
in the words of Biggie Small - if you don't know now ya know.
The owl house fandom i was on ride or die for lumity. however we all know how that ship got it start and built up cause they expected it to be this thing to say (F you to Disney) which is good cause disney had its comuppence howver, after the show ended
fans have become the most foulest ugliest & disrespectful fandom ever since the Steven Universe, Voltron and miraculous incidents,
its sad to see how these two franchises fell into the worse cases, the two creators may come across not caring of there fandom acts cause there's a saying
The captain always goes down with his ship MEANING
A captain should not have to sacrifice their life or crew, simply because the vessel they are in control of is in distress
There’s two fandoms such as Steven universe & voltron fell from grace into toxicity down below that are prime examples
youtube
The Owl House fandom has got to be some of the most entitled, uppity if not (racist) fans!
yall clearly have not listened to other fans or can't take criticism, yes the show did make very feminist undertones and the male characters didn't shine at all in their titular episodes or moments, which doesn't help at all.
Since Dana drew inspiration from Powerpuff Girls
(which comes on and the writers being all female, might have some damaging effects)
Cause its stifled the male characters in a way where there not as prominent or impactful,
So this word MISANDRY comes to mind
The fandom has gone down to the point of no return, I mean,
one fan from a webcam interview WANTED DANA's ADDRESS EWWW! (in one disccus video0
its not that the Disney drama was too blame for the project, (to an extent) which I'm proud for the fandom for banding together on animation, but need to take off the lgbt glasses, cause boy the show's writing was pushed in favor of that.
CONGRATS You did at the cause of Harassment and bad behavior in fandoms,
NEXT TOPIC
3. Make The Business Makes Sense & epilogue
THE OWL HOUSE
Dana Terrace has the makings of doing good shows however when it comes down to an audience to kid she has some major damage control on how the fandom will come across,
i mean have we not learned from the Lilith and Camilla toxic issues, you can tell the show likes to demonize the adults which is unacceptable, and can damage storytelling and characters.
the truth i feel there needs to be proper staff on how to write POC, ethnic and cultural representation In the show, Amphibia, Molly mcgee, Haileys on it and other break-out shows did it better,
hell even Amphibia doing those cuisines food culture in Frogworld, can you imagine the boiling isles taking on Hispanic cuisine.
Which i felt could've hit a mark on luz home life and culture if written & fleshed out,
Like the staff didn't know how to write those topics, they've coulda gone so far with it but unfortunately fall flat in that area,, not to mention the fashion. UGH
sigh.
ViVI WORKS ( i try not to make this quick but i can discuss more on comments be NICE)
Vivienne Medrano has good fashion and business sense
its important to have that cause having a Cloud Nine franchise coming from nothing can do wonders for how you are perceived as an artist,
The discourse has come due to her take on the controversy on platforms talking on her many harsh topics
(in my opinions she too needs to work on controlling scenarios & damage control that can affect her
So tried but yeah
vivi is a dominant artist who takes her business seriously so I am glad to have her flourish in Spindlehorse,
but just i wish i cant help but fall outta love with her work, knowing of the problems in today's animation comesacross how you say even snowflakes can break under if heard by there favorite creators.
lets be honest these two can learn from each other. and vivi does sure know angles and promoting
youtube
very glad to get this written so I put some thought into this
i wish nothing for the best for these awesome artists and creators thank you all for coming so far and have a wonderful voyage thanks.

Nellie and Tater: PRIMOS is an Unbalanced Mess
I know this is a lumity blog, but I wanted to talk about something different that has been bothering me lately and it's that new show, PRIMOS.
Now the show did get a lot of backlash a while back for how stereotypical it looked, and Disney Channel made some changes to save face. Now that it's out, the consensus is...
It's so okay, it's average.
And quite frankly, no one cares. Except my brother who I'm watching the show with. Now, I think the show is meh except for two things:
I HATE the main character, Tater, but I love her younger sister, Nellie.
(Tater on the left; Nellie on the right)
For those of you fortunate enough not to know what PRIMOS is, PRIMOS is the new animated show from Disney Channel about a girl name Tater who wants to have big dreams and achieve her "final form" (they never explain what that means), except her mom invited her twelve cousins to stay at their house for the summer. Easy to understand. Very slice of life comedy-ish.
My problem with the show (besides how it looks) is the main character, Tater. I hate her. I hate her design. I hate her voice. I hate her character. But she's the main character which means she's going to be in every episode and get all the screen time. Tater is also very egocentric. Everything has to be about HER and her "final form" whatever that is. Even in episodes that aren't about her, Tater actively tries to make herself the center of them. Hell, the trailer and first episode end with Tater yelling to the heavens, "BUT THIS SUMMER WAS SUPPOSED TO BE ABOUT ME!"
Nellie, on the other hand, is her taller yet younger sister.
I love Nellie. Her design is better. Her voice is better. Her character is better. She's mischievous, goofy and level-headed. She's learned to tolerate her gaggle of cousins by tuning people out with her headphones, meditating, doing yoga, and making snarky comments to take people down a peg.
The problem is that Nellie doesn't appear in every episode. Despite being the main character's younger sister, there are some episodes where she's not even mentioned.
At first, this doesn't seem like a big deal. I'm not an idiot. I'm not gonna complain that a secondary character is secondary. But then I saw two episodes: Summer of La Trabajadora and Summer of La Madriguera.
In Summer of La Trabajadora, the episode starts with all the primos at a pizzeria for "primo pizza hour." And Nellie isn't there. She's not even mentioned. They give no reason for her not being there. I guess it would have cost too much to draw her in the background? Her actress costs too much?
Then Summer of La Madriguera, which actually needs a little bit of context. In the second episode of PRIMOS, Tater was afraid the primos were going to completely take over her room. But the primos built Tater her own special "Tater's corner," so she can have her privacy. In Summer of La Madriguera, Tater finds a secret spot in the attic she can use as a hideaway, but Nellie discovers it. Tater doesn't want Nellie to tell any of the primos about it, and Nellie agrees because sometimes you need time alone to recharge. And then Nellie says this:
"I get it. That's why I meditate. I mean, none of the primos made me a special corner."
Wow. Puts a whole new spin on all the episodes that don't have Nellie in them. So now do I not only like Nellie as a character, but I sympathize with her too. As confident and aloof as she is, she does feel left out by Tater and the primos.
Which confuses me.
The creator based Tater off herself, so she's a self-insert creator's pet. We're supposed to like Tater more than any of the other characters because she's the main character. So why make Nellie more sympathetic? We're supposed to care more about Tater's "final form" (whatever that is) than a little girl being ignored in her own family? Fucking...no?
All of this reaches its boiling point in the episode Summer of Imi-Tater.
The episode starts with NELLIE narrating. We get some visual metaphors that I have to describe to you because I don't have screenshots. We'll miss you, KimCartoon.
Nellie sees herself as the Earth (makes sense) and Tater is represented by a sun that never shuts the fuck up. The primos are represented by the other planets and you can guess where this is going.
After that, we see Nellie and the primos watching TV with Nellie riffing (or mst3k-ing if you're old school) the shows and the primos getting a good laugh. They're all having a good time before Tater shows up to make herself the center of attention again. Nellie correctly predicts that Tater has some dumb idea about her final form but need the primos' help. Apparently, Tater needs money for a reason we never learn, and Nellie suggests selling lemonade. Tater then scolds Nellie for interrupting her and then suggests selling lemonade. The primos go wild for Tater's idea...even though Nellie just suggested it not even thirty seconds ago.
Nellie tries to mediate and have tea, but she can't help it this time. She's angry. And she decides to get back at Tater by becoming Tater 2.0 and making her own lemonade stand.
Nellie becomes "Tater 2.0" and is an instant success with her lemonade stand, showing up Tater and winning control of the primos. She even gets a song that is a total bop...and is kinda sad when you pay attention to the lyrics.
"Nellie see you later/cause I'm tater 2.0"
She thinks she has to be a better Tater just to get some attention because no one cared about Nellie being Nellie.
And of course, Tater, being the egocentric gremlin that she is, can't handle it.
Nellie considers this a win...until the primos all comfort Tater. Even when Nellie wins, it has to be about Tater. Nellie decides to prove her point even further by taking over Tater's failed lemonade stand, but goes too far when she reads part of Tater's diary out loud. Nellie threatens to destroy Tater's diary, but when the primos try to talk her down, Nellie loses it. She just screams:
"Tater! Tater! Tater! What about ME?!?!"
And I get it. Usually, Nellie can handle herself but this has been building since the series started. Humans are social creatures and everybody likes attention, at least every once in a while. Nellie was cool just chilling with the primos, but it felt like they dumped her every time Tater had some dumb idea. The didn't even miss her in primo pizza hour. Tater shooting down her idea and then taking credit for it was the straw that broke the camel's back.
Nellie realizes that she was burying her anger instead of dealing with it and talks to Tater. And then I hate the episode again because Tater makes it about herself again. Tater shows that she has a "Nellie Index" in her diary and that when Tater wins the Nobel Prize, she'll be sure to thank Nellie during her acceptance speech.
First of all, fuck you. Second, this isn't good enough for me. This ending doesn't resolve any of the issues brought up. It doesn't resolve or explain why the primos ignore or straight up forget Nellie. It doesn't show why we should prefer Tater over Nellie. It barely resolves Nellie burying her feelings. So it brings up the question, why do this? Why make an episode that shows your main character being a jerk to a close family member and then handwaving a resolution?
My theory is that when creators have their super-special-OC-don't-steal, they have blinders on that prevents them from seeing how bad their characters actually are. Like Mike and Bryan about Aang from Avatar the Last Airbender. Aang did some bad things, but Mike and Bryan don't see them as bad, just little character flaws to grow out of. Here I thought consent was cool, but whatever.
I like this episode and I don't like this episode. It's an unbalanced mess that has the moral and the focus in the wrong place. I love Nellie more and hate Tater more. The problem is I know that the show intended for the opposite to happen, and that's not a good sign.
Later, hater!

How would you write Amity, Hunter and Lilith to be good while still having their edge?
Shoot Hunter in the face, give Lilith the anger she needed, and let Amity be bad at being a girlfriend.
...
If you're expecting me to apologize for being harsh, don't. Even the writers to some extent recognized the case for Amity and Lilith but instead time and focus was diverted to Hunter and Amity was decided to be the ULTIMATE GIRLFRIEND who never makes mistakes except that she cares too much which is something you say during a job interview so you don't claim to have no faults but don't actually seem like trouble. Meanwhile, Stranger Tides admits that Lilith's ambition and inner rage wouldn't go away after losing her magic. At least then she's trying to help the house but you get the idea that unlike Eda, who submitted to her life long ago, she isn't going to sit there and take it.
And then... She sits there and takes it. And Amity, despite only knowing transactional and manipulative love up until now, who overthinks and worries about everything, only doubts herself during Eclipse Lake and then doesn't even decide "Wait, what has Luz upset might be me and her phone might tell me what I've been doing wrong" and open it up. It would be a different angle on the same problem that would be absolutely in line with her character, especially if Willow is going to decide to be OOC in order to let Amity make the decision all by herself when there is NO reason she should make the right one.
But for Lilith to actually strike back at Belos, or at the Isles in general, to prove that even without her magic she deserves respect, going back to those initial motives that led to her cursing her sister but now with supposedly 'noble' goals, would have taken time. To have Lumity have a push and pull in their relationship where they both make mistakes and both learn from it, something Luz explicitly NEVER DOES because she never stops lying, would have taken time. Where do you get that back?
Kill Hunter. Just remove him from the story. He is absolutely redundant as just a second Amity who is filling in the obvious narrative role that Lilith should have had. After all, he is meant to eventually rebel against the EC. Lilith also clearly had that potential in S1 and was primed for it in S2. He is our connection to Belos as someone who was by his side for years. Lilith was the EC COVEN HEAD. He is meant to have a rivalry with Kikimora. Lilith also had a rivalry with Kikimora. He is meant to be disempowered due to a lack of his own magic and must embrace wild magic and the Isles in order to get stronger when he is without the support of the EC. LILITH. LOST. HER. MAGIC. And befriended a demon. And needed to find other ways to deal with problems.
When I say TOH REFUSES to actually start using the elements it has setup and instead introduce new, worse, redundant ones, Hunter is THE example while Lilith breathes. Worse yet, Lilith then takes King's spot as a dedicated comic relief character in a series with already too many comic relief characters, too few jokes, and VERY few good jokes, especially when they're losing one of their only straight men by Lilith's change in attitude.
And what do we gain with Hunter? An allusion to a backstory that doesn't matter? The one straight ship in the show allowed to be alive? A sad emo boy for the Hot Topic crowd? A lot of this stuff doesn't add to the story and while Eda was a compelling way of redeeming Lilith without discrediting the EC, Hunter CONSTANTLY discredits the EC, Kikimora, and pretty much every threat in the show, including Belos to some extent for the sake of his half assed redemption that comes down to the moment he's told Belos lied to him... AND LILITH DID IT ALREADY AND BETTER.
The show reveals all its concepts in S1. Almost everything is shallow recycling and frankly that goes to the edges of characters. Keeping those edges means exploring their redeemed selves. Removing them? Means you can make a joke and then wave them into the cameo cast as you move on to make a new character who is going to do them worse.
And Hunter's greatest sin, above anything else, is being the embodiment of this. I am curious though: Who would have been the replacement for Hunter in S3 if we'd gotten a full one? Food for thought.
Edit: Btw, being a troublesome girlfriend, needing to learn, is a concession to time. If theoretically I only had like two half episodes to explore her edge more and keep it there, stuff with Lumity, and real stuff unlike the B plot in Sport in a Storm, is your main option. Her relationship to her old desires, her parents, the coven system, etc. like that in a way that would have been in keeping with her desire to be the best and what not, the effect her parents had on her and more, would simply take too much time and Lumity was the most important thing to the show when it comes to Amity so making Amity an interesting love interest, one that makes mistakes and could maybe call out Luz during her mistakes, like ALL THE LYING, is the main reasonable way to have kept her edge, just like 3-4 episodes/half episodes dedicated to Lilith's rage at Belos and about her magic beyond just Stranger Tides and KIND OF Affearances. That is also about as many storylines/episodes (though most of Hunter's plots are full episodes or 75%) as Hunter got. I try to keep this stuff in mind with these blogs so as to try to be reasonable to a show's schedule.

@fallerpotterhead gave me the phrase "all part of the plan" with Lumity! I didn't end up using the actual phrase, but it inspired this. ~
This shouldn’t be so hard.
She’s been dating Amity for almost a year now. She shouldn't be this nervous about something so silly.
But here she is, with a bulletin board in front of her, string hanging between push pins, looking like a complete nut job while she paces.
“It has to be perfect, King. Perfect! You know?”
She turns around to find King stretched out on her sleeping bag with his eyes closed. “Yeah, I fell asleep, like, five minutes into this,” King says.
“But you’re literally talking to me right now.”
“Sleep talking.”
Luz pouts. “Don’t you care about my future happiness?”
King opens his eyes just to roll them. “Future happiness? Amity is so in love with you it’s gross. Something so small isn’t gonna change that.”
“Small?” Luz scoffs, “Grom isn’t small!”
“Whatever, I’m sleepy, can I nap now?”
Luz sighs. “Sure. If you’re fine abandoning me in my time of need, that is.”
“I am,” King says, and then almost immediately begins to snore.
Luz turns back to the drawing board. “I know we need to be near the Grom tree,” she says to herself, “But what do I do at the Grom tree? A picnic?” Her eyes widen and she snaps so loudly that King scrambles awake.
“A picnic!” she says, “It’s perfect!”
Perfect it may be, but when she checks her watch to discover Amity will be here for their date in five minutes, she begins to panic.
“I don’t have anything ready! King, please please help me pack a picnic in less than five minutes!”
King yawns. “Fine, but only so you’ll let me sleep. I don’t love you or anything.”
“Sure buddy,” Luz says, picking him up and giving him a squeeze, “Sure you don’t.”
~
Amity looks beautiful standing in the doorway of The Owl House.
She’d recently started keeping her hair in a ponytail, and Luz loves how it shows off her undercut. Honestly, her girlfriend is the prettiest girl on the Isles.
“Uh, Luz? Hello?”
Luz blinks, realizes she was staring without saying anything for, like, two minutes, and laughs awkwardly. “Sorry, sorry, you’re just really pretty.”
“You’re not so bad yourself,” Amity says with a smile, “Now come on, I wanna see what you have planned!”
“It’s nothing special,” Luz insists, shutting the door behind her, “Just a little picnic!” She holds up the basket in her hands. “King helped me with it.”
“That’s adorable.”
“I know.”
They walk through the forest, swinging their hands between them, chatting idly about nothing the entire way to the Grom tree.
“And then King said something about bread so of course we had to make puns, and-”
It is at this moment that Luz realizes Amity hasn’t said anything for a solid five minutes. In fact, she doesn’t even look like she’s listening, staring off into the trees. Her hands are in her pockets, and she looks like she’s thinking hard about something.
“Amity? You okay?”
Amity jumps, literally jumps into the air, and she begins sputtering out apologies “What? Yeah! Totally! Sorry, you were saying something about King?”
Luz narrows her eyes, but lets it go. She’s nervous enough about asking Amity to Grom, she just has to trust that Amity’s telling the truth.
The Grom tree appears through the foliage, and they both stop talking, marveling at the sheer size of it.
“Remember when we created this tree?” Luz asks, touching the bark with her fingertips.
“Remember?” Amity asks, “It was one of the best days of my life!”
“Really? Even though you didn’t get to go to Grom with the person in your letter?”
Amity stops and then turns towards Luz slowly, mouth dropping open in shock. “What?” she says faintly.
“Yeah, I felt so bad at the time, but now I’m kinda glad it didn’t work out, because now you’re with me!” Luz turns to smile at Amity, but Amity is still staring at her with an indecipherable expression on her face.
“What? What did I say? Is there something on my face?”
And then Amity starts to laugh. Loud, raucous peals of laughter.
Luz is more confused than ever.
“I am…very lost,” Luz says, and Amity shakes her head and reaches into her pocket, still laughing.
She pulls out a folded pink paper and hands it to Luz, wiping tears of mirth off her face.
“I, uh-”
“Open it,” Amity insists, finally calming down enough to talk.
So Luz does.
And there, in Amity’s swoopy handwriting, are the words Luz,
Will you go to Grom with me?
Luz’s stomach swoops, and she’s only upset that her plan didn’t work out for a second before it hits her that Amity just invited her to Grom.
“Ohmygosh, Amity, I’d love to go with you to Grom!” she starts, but Amity holds up a hand. “You don’t get it,” she says, “I asked you through the letter, with this paper, because it’s exactly how I wrote it last year. And I thought it would be cute if I actually asked you this year instead of chickening out. But you thought-oh my gosh, you thought it was someone else, how could it have been someone else?”
The gears in Luz’s brain are working furiously to keep up with Amity’s words, but nothing coherent is turning up. “I’m lost,” she admits, and Amity takes her hand.
“Luz, you adorable goofball, I was going to ask you to Grom last year.”
“WHAT???”
“It was you, Luz. It was always you.”
Luz sits down heavily, taking Amity down with her. “You…were gonna ask me to Grom last year.”
“Yes.”
“You liked me?”
Amity laughs. “I mean we’ve been dating for almost a year, so I’d hope so-”
“No, no, I mean, you’ve liked me for that long????”
“Oh! Well, yeah,” Amity admits, “I liked you for a while before we actually got together. It was kinda sad, actually.”
“That’s not sad, that’s-wow.” Luz feels tears form in her eyes.
“Oh no, Luz, what’s wrong?”
“Nothing,” Luz says shakily, still trying not to cry, “I just- how did I get so lucky?”
Amity smiles and kisses Luz on the cheek. “I ask myself that every day,” she says, “Wanna have that picnic now?”
“OH, THE PICNIC! Shoot, Amity, I set up the picnic to ask you to Grom!”
“Wait, really?”
Luz smacks herself in the face. “Yes! I had a whole plan!” She looks at the note in her hand, thumb ghosting over the corner of the paper.
“But you know what? I like this better.”

Alright, alright, I was being a bit facetious in my previous post. I don’t think Boscha and Amity were ever an item, at least not until stated so. Then again, things like ”canon” has never stopped shippers before. have it? And I can imagine that there emerged quite a few fanfics based solely on this scene. The language used is very reminiscent of your ex showing up, drunk on appleblood, asking you to please take them back, they’ll be better this time.
All these words I say Don't mean anything I realize Can I make you stay? I'll be better this time I'll be better this time To you
But yeah, like I talked about before, Boscha went from being just a high school bully, to being a high school bully with trauma and a seriously shoddy support network in the form of Kikimora. With her friends and family gone, Boscha sees reuniting with Amity as a way to regain some semblance of normality in the crazy world she finds herself in. The world may have gone insane, but at least there is something for her to hold on to, quite literally by the way she tackles Amity in the next shot.
I believe that Boscha feels hopeless; after facing down The Collector’s spies and watching her teammates and friends, as well as all the adults get taken, she believes there is nothing they can do but to hide away in Hexside and continue to live there. And together they can rule Hexisde, just like before. No, even better!
I gotta say, for a character that’s been pretty one-note, they’ve done a great job of giving her some depth while still feeling natural.
(unrelated, but I kinda dig Boscha’s new look. the sportswear as armor works. plus, her grudgby make-up kinda resembles tears, or running mascara from crying. symbolism!)
((not 100% sure, but I think that was the right use of the word facetious?))
Boscha: ”I won’t let you leave again!” Amity: ”Boscha, you’re hurting me!”
Jeez Luise, all the, erm… Boschity? Amischa? What would you even call that ship… um, I’ll bet all the Amity/Boscha shippers (all three of you) still around in the post Lumity era went absolutely feral when this episode aired. The potential for angst just skyrocketed.
Now, that is the crux, isn’t it? Boscha desperately needs Amity, but Amity doesn’t need, not particularly want Boscha around in her life anymore. And in her attempts to hold on, Boscha inevitably only ends up hurting Amity.
Okay, I had to rewind the scene a few times, but I did catch it on the third time (and then I had to do it two three four more times to get the screenshot). Right after Mattholomule summons this smokescreen, he and Amity run away… except they appear to have switched places.
Then, while they’re running away, Boscha kicks the head of the statue Mattholomule made towards him, only for him to catch it… with a pair of gauntlets, similar to what Amity uses, even summoning a purple spell circle to summon them. When Boscha shoves Mattholomule aside to get to Amity, Mattholomule drops the illusion, revealing it was actually him playing the role of the Blight.
Gus and Luz pulled a similar trick in Clouds on the Horizon. And just like in that episode, the trick was really obvious in hindsight, yet I still didn’t call it. Though this one at least went by a bit faster.
Also, Matty calls Gus Augustus; returning the favor for Gus calling him Mattholomule this whole time.
"We can still save your teammates. Will you let us try?”
Like I said before, after witnessing her teammates and the adults be defeated so easily and taken away to who knows where, Boscha lost hope. Right now, she’s not fighting to save the world, or even to save one or a few people. She’s fighting to keep some small sliver of her old life.
Amity is the last of Boscha’s friends who haven’t been taken, so Boscha is going to fight to keep her from disappearing again. But… I think she might be starting to realize that it’s a losing battle too. Thus she finds herself stuck between a rock and a hard place (i love that expression). She either risks it all trying to get her teammates back, which will probably end up with her and the few people still left being turned into puppets. Or she tries to keep the few people left contained and somewhat safe within the school, regardless of their wishes.
And I'm just saying Boscha, a fellow triclops, Tien Shinhan was hopelessly outclassed by Cell, yet his defiant stand against the Semi-Perfect lifeform remains one of the most badass displays in all of Dragonball.
Well, I can’t say I ever expected them to kill Gus off screen, but oh well. This is what happens when you cut an entire season down to three specials the length of six full episodes. Rest in peace, Augustus. You will be missed.
Nah, it looks like they’re down in the detention pits as well, Kiki and Boscha must’ve gotten to them as well after they ambushed Willow.

Favorite fictional ship, and reasons?
Okay, I've been in various fiction fandom spaces since I was like 12, and while I'm not as much of a shipper as I used to be, I still have a fair few. So here's a medley of various favourites off the top of my head.
- Lumity (Luz Noceda and Amity Blight) from the Owl House.
Because. Obviously. They're adorable. No matter what part of the show you're watching (except maybe the very beginning when Amity was still Generic Mean Girl), they're a great ship. Yeah it's an obvious pick, but they're popular for a reason, dammit! And to be honest, I miss the Little Miss Perfect era (iykyk).
- Dipcifica (Dipper Pines and Pacifica Northwest) from Gravity Falls.
Mostly if not entirely because of nostalgia. also I rewatched the show over summer so I have it on my mind rn. Even though it's only teased in one episode (and a few canon tie-in material like the journal and Lost Legends), it's still cute. They were probably one of my first ever ships, so Kid Me was right about at least one thing!
- Paulkins (Paul Matthews and Emma Perkins) from the Hatchetfield musicals, specifically The Guy Who Didn't Like Musicals.
God, these two give me life. They have so much bi4bi energy it's not even funny. They pick up each others' vocal stims ("okay. okay. okay.") Neither of them are particularly happy or nice people but something about them just SPARKS. They're so perfect for each other that even their evil doppelgangers end up together in another universe. You grow to love them so much that the ending of TGWDLM, while being an absolute banger, never stops hurting no matter how many times you rewatch it.
- Bispearl (Bismuth and Pearl) from Steven Universe.
Another nostalgic ship! I gravitated towards these two the SECOND they were on screen together, and continued to ship them all the way to the end of SU and beyond. (I still remember right after Bismuth Casual aired and everyone lost their minds, and all us Bispearl OGs were just. so happy. we were RIGHT AND NOW IT'S AT LEAST SEMI-CANON, HELL YEAH)
- Percabeth (Percy Jackson and Annabeth Chase) from the Riordanverse
And another nostalgic ship. Need I give a reason for the absolute ship paragon that is Percabeth? "The world was collapsing and all that mattered was that she was alive"? The underwater kiss? Them going to Literal Actual Hell and back together? These two are perfect for each other and I will hear no arguments. Also PJO TV SERIES COMES OUT IN DECEMBER IM SO EXCITED
Honourable mentions (this doesn't mean I like them less, I just can't be asked to write reasons for them)
Anne and Gilbert from Anne With An E (this one was so frustrating but so worth it)
Frank and Eddie from Welcome Home
Mischa and Noel from Ride The Cyclone
Jameson and Avery from the Hawthorne Legacy (yep, I'm team Jameson, sue me ig)
Lex and Ethan from Hatchetfield
Hater and Peepers from Wander Over Yonder (im serious)
Hunter and Willow from TOH
Peeta and Katniss from THG
uh that's all I got, bye

Luz, Willow and Raine for the ask!
I’M SORRY THIS TOOK SO LONG MY BRAIN REFUSED TO WORK!
Luz:
Sexuality HC: I could feel her bi disaster energy long before Thanks To Them.
OTP: LUMITY ALL THE WAY! I’m gonna be in a wheelchair hopefully 70 years from now shouting ‘Lumity for life!’, recalling the kiss once more!
Brotp: Luz and Hunter Noceda. End of story. Noceda-Clawthorne-Whispers if Eda and Raine adopt Luz at the end.
Notp: Lunter. Also end of story.
First HC that pops to my head: Unfortunately I got nothing.
Favorite line: Literally everything she’s ever said because it is impossible to choose and it would be a sin to do so. I LOVE HER SM!!
One way in which I relate to her: Nearly everything. The nerdiness, the cheery attitude, almost everything she does and says is exactly what I do/say, we would 100% be BFFs if we met, and I relate to her more than any other fictional character in existence. I HAVE STRONG FEELINGS ABOUT HER OKAY?
Things that give me second hand embarrassment: Despite never experiencing it myself, I could feel her pain throughout the Tunnel of Love. I could feel it deep in my soul.
Cinnamon roll or problematic fave: Give this girl all the cinnamon in the world, cause she deserves it!
Willow:
Sexuality HC: I’ve never really thought about that until now. And my brain’s got nothing.
OTP: (chanting) Huntlow! Huntlow! Huntlow! Huntlow!
Brotp: WILLOW, LUZ AND GUS BEST FRIENDS FOR LIFE!!
Notp: Boschlow. No j-just no. And I have to ask…why? Why would you do this?
First HC that pops to my head: Once again, got nothing. (I’m not very good with headcanons)
Favorite line: “These past few months have been weird but look at all the new memories we have now. It's been nice to finally spend some time together.” -Thanks To Them
One way in which I relate to her: This girl’s determination is ON POINT! When she sets out to do something, she does not give up!
Things that give me second hand embarrassment: One word: Nothing. Mostly because I can’t think right now.
Cinnamon roll or problematic fave: One of the sweetest cinnamon rolls in the Demon Realm!
Raine:
Sexuality HC: Always been torn between Bi and Lesbian. And it looks like I’m never going to choose.
OTP: YOU KNOW IT, YOU LOVE IT, IT’S THE LEGENDARY RAEDA!! MY OTP, THE OTP, IT IS THE BEST!!
Brotp: Raine and Darius! I need their history from Hexside! I need to see them get a little bit more on each other’s nerves! And I would LOVE to see Raine and Luz bonding! Like Raine teaching her bard magic and Luz teaching them glyphs! Hopefully we get a little bit of that in the finale.
Notp: Nothing comes to mind, unless you count Raine and Terra. After everything Terra has done to them, keep them apart for the rest of their lives!
First HC that pops to my head: THEY. ARE. SO. SNUGGLY!! A complete snuggle bug! And I love this!
Favorite line: Tied between “How’d you become the Owl Lady with your stage fright?” and “Is it so unbelievable that I wanted to keep you safe? But in typical Eda fashion, you’re not going to stop until you make things right.”
One way in which I relate to them: I know the pain that comes with the social anxiety. I can feel it deep in my soul every time.
Things that give me second hand embarrassment: “Trying to…mute the magic of our hearts? -distressed groan-“ Ooowwww…
Cinnamon roll or problematic fave: THE SWEETEST ROLL ON THE ISLES I LOVE THEM TO DEATH!!
This was actually pretty fun to think about, ngl! Thanks for the ask!

Ok, so I'm back. I was pretending to do this in order of appearance but... anyways. I try to number the ideas, so is easier for you to answer :)
1) I think that the part when Luz tells the collector that forgiveness and compassion is not for everyone and the very death of the goop, is just so poetic.
Like, I was just getting Mr wonderful vibes with that message, but then they managed to make the perfect exception of it that make the sentence acquire the full meaning of it.
2) And the death of belos... Incredible. But, do you remember when I also discussed with you that belos was possessing his own death body? I mean, that wasn't his dead body, but you also told me that his human form was just gone.
3) But right before he is stomped to death (I was mid laughing with that, I would have done the same HAHAHA) we see his human form again. AND NOT THE FORM OF "BELOS", BUT OF PHILIP. I mean, I need your explanation for this, for god sake hahaha.
4) I was also kinda disappointed that there weren't so much Lumity moments. I would have loved to see one scene when Amity went full a simp for Luz with her transformation, just as Catra did in one episode with Adora hahaha. But at least we know they will last a lot more as a couple.
5) I also expected another Caleb apparition and, maybe, an Evelyn's one too. But that's Okey, because as Belos was dying as a miserable goop, Luz was watching with the same face and disgust as Caleb ghost/apparition did in FtF. It was Luz but it also felt as it was Caleb. I loved that parallel.
6) Now with the titan itself. I think that the look when talking to Luz was not his real look? I've already read that the titan wanted Luz to be comfortable, so it decided to take that form. It is important, because at first I thought that Hooty was somehow related to the titan and that's why he was so weird.
7) I didn't get why the titan was in the space-in-between. Like, it was dead but also not dead? It was strange. Also because it caught Luz when she died. That means that the titan has the power to bring someone back to life?
8) Also, we get to see the full form of a titan, of the isles, and is really amazing. I assume that is the real form, besides the illusion it plays when talking to Luz.
9) Oh, and the thing the collector narrates at the beginning. Were they trapped in the in-between too? That means that king's dad and the collector were in the same space and could have met or encounter each other?
10) The sequence of the in-between was the most difficult for me to understand. Like, if Luz would have drowned completely in that liquid, that would have meant that she would have died for good? And why did king's dad say that if she "goes down without a portal, indeed she would look dead" (or sth similar, I can't remember well all)? I mean, in the "real world" she was already gone because she turned into a bunch of lights, how could she even look dead when she didn't have a body? Would have that meant that she also would have turned into a rock-looking isle?
11) Ohhh, and the concept of kings dad being, indeed, genderqueer hit me hahaha. I mean, I think that is the most real representation a god should have, because, how a creature that is not from this world could have been ruled by rules of this world? And this applies to binarism and that on.
12) And also, I know this show is about not being the chosen one. Eda makes herself clear in the first or second episode. But at the end it kinda feels like it because Luz is the one to be chosen by the titan itself to give her his powers. I know it's because she was nice to king and she kept her heart opened throughout the entire series and she was so kind to everyone, even with the ones that didn't deserved that (cough... cough... Belos/Philip). But Eda was also very kind to king and was her adoptive mother. You get me. And, at the end, she was almost the only human to be able to travel between realms, and that felt that it was because she was a weirdo and she was the chosen one (for being a weirdo).
13) Also, the titan is dead, so the glyphs don't work. But I don't understand then why witches are able to still doing magic. The magic is supposed to come from the titan and it is already gone. Maybe it can be explained due to the bile sack, but it feels inconsistent to me. Like, the bile sac is only supposed to synthesise magic for the owner using the one the titan gives or segregate, not create new one. Because if that is that way, there's no need for the titan to exist. Like in the human realm. Everyone was able to do magic except Luz, because she didn't have the bile sac. Or maybe is because the magic produced by the bile sac lasts many years? That's a question that has been spinning in my head for a while.
14) And how did they managed to build a portal between realms? The whole season 2 was about that and now, almost all of a sudden they manage to create one? Because I can't find an explanation 😅. Like, did they extract blood weekly from king? Like if that was a blood donation? 😂 Also, it was built in the place the first time Luz went through it and that felt incredibly well hahaha.
15) And I also see some inconsistent thing with the redesigns. I mean, for the timeskip between season 2 and 3, we see a redesign and at the end we see another one. But the first one felt just so different that, only by the looks and how they have aged, I would have said it has been at least 1 hear until they found another way of getting to the demon realm instead of just 2 months. Like, god, hunter grew his hair so fucking long hahaha. And then in the second timeskip it has been 4 years. That's what I see wrong hahaha.
15) But I loved the redesign. What can you tell me about Amity's one? I think she got even more badass, and I thought that wasn't possible hahaha. The undercut with brown is everything, and the clothes she wears. She seems more an adventurer now. And also the detail that she has now more of Odalia's hips now 😅.
16) And I would have loved to see more between those 4 years, but I understand that the crew didn't have more time to do it, so now we will have to be satisfied with moringmark's comics hahaha.
17) Also, I thought the timeskip would be of more years. Like, just to confirm Lumity get their well-deserved wedding hahaha. Not, but talking seriously, it has been theorised so many times that Azura was Luz and Amity's child from the future, that I thought we would have had something related to it, although it was some kind of stupidity cause it crystal clear the answer, hahaha.
18) But it would have been so cool to see them having their child hahaha.
19) But I also think that timeskip is PERFECT, because it shows us that magic hasn't ended and now Luz has a new system of glyphs to learn.
20) I would love more analysis, comments and posts from you about this episode and, in general, about the entire series and how all connected at last
Hoo boy. Okay. I'll go through these under a cut so that this doesn't ruin some peoples' dashes.
2 & 3) Yes, I still entirely believe Philip wasn't capable of being in a human form after King's Tide; if he was capable of it, he wouldn't have spent the remaining episodes of the series running around as a) a really fucked-up looking monster and b) a melting one.
But in the end of this episode, he's just been given a massive power boost. He was attached to the Titan for a fairly significant amount of time, and that undoubtedly gave him enough power to find his original form one last time. This, of course, doesn't last long, and even though the boiling rain surely helped things, I have a feeling he was going to melt into oblivion even if it remained sunny. The appearance of Philip for that brief moment was because of the remaining power left over from his connection to the Titan, but it dwindled extremely quickly.
4) I understand the disappointment, but like I've said before, I'd have rather they cut the Lumity -- a facet of the show that is not meant to be dramatic and uncertain -- than something else in the episode. I think the pacing was about as good as the crew could've made it.
5) I also loved that parallel, and I'm actually working on an entire post about what it means to not have shown Caleb and Evelyn again in the show. It's fascinating.
6) First of all, yeah, that's definitely not how Papa Titan actually looked in their lifetime; the skeleton we see at the end is probably a lot closer to their actual figure those centuries ago. Second, I'm also sure that Hooty is in fact connected to them somehow; Dana said that his origins would be hinted at in this episode, and, I mean, that was a good hint!
7) The Titan gave Luz the rest of their life-force, which I would honestly assume is the only way to bring someone back from the dead in the Demon Realm.
9 & 10) I guess I'm kind of assuming that the Titan wasn't actually in the in-between themselves until they started to die for good; the Collector was trapped in there alone for a long time, and while they may have been near each other, I don't think the Collector and the Titan could communicate between themselves. Also, yes, Luz would have died for good if she stayed in the liquid. That's the implication, and that's where the Titan goes in the very end, too.
12) I can understand why you'd say that, but that's not how I saw that scene myself. The Titan says themselves that part of the reason Luz is getting this second chance is "because [she's] the one here," and in the end, it's Luz who has to choose herself, not the other way around.
13) It's not inconsistent, that's exactly it. Witches and demons have a biological connection to magic, and the Titan's final death wouldn't impair their bile sac in any way. Luz, on the other hand, has spent the entire series doing things in the way that she's Speaking to the Isles, which is why her Glyphs are so different.
14) The Collector made it. That's why his voice rings out when it opens; it's their creation.
15) ...Hunter's hair? In Thanks to Them, I think the fandom pretty much agrees that his hair tends to grow faster than most, due to him not exactly being a regular witch. At the end of Watching and Dreaming, I mean, I'm just assuming he's had multiple haircuts over the years. I'm assuming they all did. Also, Amity's little headpiece is a reference to her Grom Queen, which is something that damn near made me tear up when I realized it.
17) I never liked that theory, and was very happy that they didn't go that route. I liked the time they set the flash-forward in; it wasn't so radically different, but it was just different enough to know good things about the years we've missed out on.
Thanks for the ask!

The Unbending Willow
Read on Ao3
Summary:
The last thing Amity would ever expect was a call from Willow. The other last thing she would ever expect was Willow to threaten her.
Words: 570, Oneshot
Warnings: None
Characters: Amity Blight, Willow Park
Ships: Lumity
Additional Tags: Friendly Threatening, Protective Willow Park, ooc willow maybe, i feel like she would do this just in different wording, Canon Compliant
Her crystal ball started humming from its place on her desk. Amity pushed herself off her bed and picked up the ball from its base, placing it on her bedside table. She tapped the top of it and watched the fog inside swirl to show an image.
"Oh, Willow. Hi." Willow sat at a table with her hands folded in front of her. She was in her room, a place Amity recognized from when they used to be friends. It hadn't changed much from when they were little.
"Amity, are you busy right now?" Willow asked.
"No, why?"
"Because I need to talk to you," she took a deep breath. "I wouldn't call us friends, but we're not-not friends. We're friendly, right?"
"Yeah, I'd say so."
"And you know Luz is my best friend, right?"
"Where are you going with this?" Amity demanded.
"We'll get there," Willow said calmly.
"Get where?"
"So, up until like, a week ago, I hated you for what you did to me. More like what you didn't do, but that's not the point. The point is you valued your position more than our friendship."
"Willow, I-"
"I know your parents forced you, I understand you really didn't want to, but in the end, you could've told me or at least stood up for me against your friends. You have no idea how much pain and hurt that put me through for half my life. I've forgiven you for that. Now, back to Luz."
"What about her?" Amity asked cautiously.
"I know you have a crush on her."
"What? No, no. Me, having a crush on Luz? That's crazy." Willow raised her eyebrow and Amity sighed. "Are you going to tell her?"
"No, I won't. I just wanted to give you a warning."
"A warning? About what?" Willow pulled a potted flower from somewhere out-of-view and placed it in front of her. She put a finger underneath the iris's petals.
"If you hurt Luz, you'll be a nice fertilizer for my plants." Amity's eyes widened.
"You think I'm going to hurt her? Really? I never would do that!" Amity defended.
"You have to put Luz first. Over what your parents want, no matter what they threaten. Because I might've been able to take it, but Luz won't be. Got that?" Willow stated.
"Yes."
"Status and reputation are nothing without friends."
"I agree. Willow, I'm a lot braver now. I can't make up for what happened in the past, but I can promise it won't ever happen again," Amity asserted. Willow nodded.
"You can make up for it, at least make it even. I just need your help with a little something."
"What do you need help with?" Amity questioned.
"You and I both know Luz gets herself in over her head. I mean, she's literally fought our government. And with everything with Eda and Lilith, someone needs to protect her. Or some-two."
"I see."
"Gus kinds of enables Luz, but we can try to keep her out of trouble. So when she's with you, make sure she stays safe. That'll do a lot."
"I can do that," Amity confirmed.
"Thank you. Oh, and Amity?"
"Yeah?" Willow smiled.
"Your secret is safe with me. Really."
"That means a lot to me. Have a good night, Willow." She watched the coloured smoke dissipate and set the ball aside, a breath of relief escaping her.
Her secret was safe.

prev tags: #also dont ask me to elaborate on my character choices because I honestly have nothing to say #i do not think ever
May I. May I elaborate in your stead. I think all the time I have so many thoughts they are bouncing around in the corners of my brain.
MAJOR SPOILERS. Seriously Major Spoilers for The Owl House and Amphibia series finales ahead. Because you were right in more ways than you could have known when you first made this.
I started to write this out in the tags before I realized it would be much too long so now we're here. I'm a little Amphibia rusty but that's not going to stop me. Buckle up.
Amity and Sasha: Hands. Initially antagonistic, needing control in their lives. Has complicated friendship history with another main character (Willow; Anne). Has more than one confrontation with main (Luz; Anne) before "switching sides" (it's complicated) and becoming an ally & friend. Possibly more depending on your Amphibia interpretations (note Sasha is canonically bisexual, do with this information what you will) but Lumity is indubitable (regardless, ships don't have to line up exactly). Fire (Sasha's element; Amity's fire spell from Adventures in the Elements). Hair development mirroring character development. Was taken in/mentored by an early antagonist who goes after the main character and their found family, later becoming an ally & friend (Lilith; Grime). Fun coincidence: Blight and Waybright.
Luz and Anne: Heart. Oh, wow, sports. Dies and floats off in thematically appropriate particles after saving people from the big bad who had been possessing a major geographic entity. Reincarnated because god said so, and also gets magical girl powers to defeat the big bad (not necessarily in that order). Including, at one point, the power of god and K-pop anime (fun things like quoting her blorbo from her novels; also actual K-pop). Has a difficult time figuring out what they want in life, which is relevant to their character arcs. Gets adopted and finds a new little brother figure who they would die for, as well as an older, somewhat mysterious adult figure who is also a criminal (Listen. Listen. "Have you killed a man Hop Pop?") who can give many great life lessons but also has a bad habit of keeping secrets from them, which leads to conflict and falling-out at certain less-than-ideal moments. The parental hug and crying when she gets back home.
Hunter and Marcy: Head. Curious inquisitive booknerd with good intentions who can ramble about their interests if given the chance. "Betrays" the main cast at some point or another. Was manipulated by the lording entity. The lording entity who also happens to be an invader seeking destruction, and has horns, and a complicated backstory paralleling several things going on with the main character's current story. Gets possessed, very bad things happen as a result, death or near-death, longer hair, horns, glowing eyes, etc etc. At one point or another had a stick-type weapon with magic glowing red energy. Scared of being left behind (being abandoned/kicked out of the EC (which is as good as a death sentence in the BI society for Hunter); scared of losing friendships to distance). Does questionable things out of desperation bc of that fear (e.g. Eclipse Lake; True Colors). Works on their creative passion in the epilogue.
Miscellaneous, doesn't necessarily match up but I am thinking about things regardless:
The intent of 'I just got you back. I'm not losing you again. Let me protect you!' from Amity to Willow and Anne to Marcy. But I just realized if you think about this in the context of Luz to Hunter, there are actually a few distinguishable moments (COTH, for example).
Hunter and Anne both having the moment of 'I like who I am right now'. I'm not crying
"I'm sorry for everything" from the Collector and Marcy
Big blue antagonistic dragon creature. Andrias is much different from Belos, since he expressed an actual desire to change. But the parallel is still there
Foreshadowing for a major injury leads to a different character unexpectedly losing an arm
Found family
Isekai
These two shows canonically exist in the same universe (or universes, depending on how you want to think about it)
I know not how to incorporate Gus and Willow but I love them dearly and I am thinking about them

Things from the TOH sneak peaks that set me off:
HUNTER CHECKING IN ON LUZ 😭
Luz and Hunter acting like siblings... they've been through so much together 🥺 Hunter being the reassuring big bro was just adorable
Then his immediate spiral 2 seconds later, so on brand for him
I missed the sound of Zeno Robinson's voice, didn't realise how big the Hunter shaped hole in my life was until now
Also Luz referencing Hollow Mind feels like it's setting up the emotional arcs for this special
Amity's cute little smile when Luz gives her the plaster. Can't wait to see more Lumity moments 💖💖
Camila pronouncing Belos was funny for some reason. Her voice actor really sells the "What the fuck is going on" tone
"Newer, smaller bad guy?"
Luz is such a dumbass, they're gonna figure it out this episode for sure
THEY/THEM COLLECTOR PRONOUNS
And onto the next one-
GUS! He's all excited about human stuff again! I'm so glad to see his roots shining through despite everything. The little giggle in his voice is so cute!
"Hunter! Look at all this awesome human stuff!"
Brothers sharing a room/basement
B u b b l e w r a p
The cute little "whoops"
Camila is so caring omg
Hunter's knee shuffle, he's so awkward, I love it
"Please never do that again" that's right, wean him off the 'I'm grateful you let me live' mentality
Hunter has such a soft look when Gus is lamenting over finishing the bubble wrap. Just a cute, loving smile, hshdhhdhd I cannot WAIT to see more of these two!
I lowkey forgot Vee was voiced by Amethyst
Amity and Willow attacking the alarm clock lmaooo
"Good work, it's dead." Y'all really have no self awareness, do you?
The 'welcome home Luz' note is actually kind of sad when you think about it, Camila was expecting her daughter to show up and things to go back to normal, it would be an ocaision to celebrate, not panic of a world at war
I'm guessing after that clip she talks to Luz, who wasn't shown. I'm scared for the emotions
I may have to find time to binge the entire show just to catch myself up before the release. I miss these characters, and I need to get into the ZONE-

As a person who reads 24/7, I have a rambling mind that goes on, and on, and on about ideas.
Something that always intrigues me when people write one-shots or fics about fandoms, it's that they really make a point on a certain characters suffering and they really point out the characters growth.
So when I stumbled upon TOH..Oh Boy, did I short circuit.
This fandom blows my mind out of the water. This is the Owl House fandom, and when I first watched the show I was like, "huh, okay. There's potential." But what I didn't expect was YOU. t-The extraordinary way you have made millions, and millions of people to be obsessed!
The way the fandom shows the characters in writing and art, really help it point out the characters struggles, like 'hey, if this was me, I think I would be traumatized too!' So when people give us this, we are even more intrigued by the characters!
Now, let's look at our boy Hunter.
This boy has a crap load of trauma on his shoulders. Not only was he lied to his whole life from the only person that (he thought) genuinely cared about him, he was also a CLONE of his uncle's brother. So yeah, we can all see from that moment in Hollow Mind, he was taking in the fact that his whole life is a lie.
And the fandom loves him! I mean, who wouldn't? He's a cute, traumatized boy, that has his whole life ahead of him, and he's still trying to recover from all the emotional and mental pain he was in. So it gives the fandom alot of ideas and headcanons for him!
And the fandom really shows this. They show how much he suffered, how much mental and emotional pain he's in!
They show this though art, writing, theory's, and rants like I'm doing right now!
This is what I enjoy from you all, the way you express your ideas! Your creative minds, you find a way to express it! And that's what I love about it all, the way you care so much about the characters, that you make sure you opinion is know to us.
So please, keep doing what your doing if you enjoy it so. Don't let people break you down because heck, your amazing! And you shouldn't stop doing what you love!
That's why I have so many TOH Au's in mind, that's why I'm so eager to join this fandom. I want to be part of the Lumity and Huntlow Ship! I wanna ride the waves and help host the flag for this fandom, because I care, and I truly want to share that with all of you.
----
Tbh I was planning on this post to be me ranting about my Au's, but heck I think this fandom needs more support for what's it's worth.
Love you all, Noodles 🍜
#oh lord my first rant#huntlow#hunter toh#the owl house#lumity#like wozza. I did not expect me to express myself this early but what the heck.#I belive in Willow Supremacy!!!!#if I wrote something wrong please let me know!! 😅

What I Thought About "Them's the Break's, Kid" from The Owl House
Salutations, random people on the internet who certainly won't read this. I am an Ordinary Schmuck. I write stories and reviews and draw comics and cartoons.
You know, it's always great when a series has not just one but two cute relationships to root for. Not only that but two relationships on opposite sides of the spectrum. Because while we have Luz and Amity as the young couple and the realistic portrayal of two girls going through their first relationship, we also have Eda and Raine as the older couple with the dramatic showing of a broken relationship trying to get back to where it started. And while I'm definitely a Lumity fan (you all know this by now), I can't help but give Raeda its dues. I mean, for f**k's sake, I made an entire AU where they stayed together. That should tell you how much I care about these two.
And now, we get an entire episode dedicated to them! More specifically, an episode about how they met. Which is undoubtedly going to be cute to watch...or heartbreaking. I'm not sure because I wrote this intro last night in preparation for today's episode. And it seems plausible given how this is the sadder half of Season Two (and holy s**t, does it show). But I'm sure my heart won't be too shattered this week. Right future me?
Oh, yeah, no worries. This episode is adorable.
Sounds great! Now, let's find out together how heartbreaking or adorable "Them's the Breaks, Kid" really is!
Spoilers ahead.
WHAT I LIKED
Luz Making New Glyphs: This is neat. Now, Luz has some new glyphs, now mastering both water and air. All she needs is an Earth glyph, and she might as well be the Avatar!
(There, I made a Last Airbender reference. Do I get my cookie this time?!)
Jokes aside, this moment is a bit undercut by the fact that the main reason why Luz is doing this is to distract herself again. Don't get me wrong, I like seeing Luz add more to her arsenal, but I'm not loving this little habit she's forming by doing work to avoid problems. It tells me that she learned nothing from "Reaching Out." But I'm alright with it. I mean, I'm not ok with my favorite character inadvertently making life hard on herself, but I like seeing more flaws in Luz. A character who is perfect in every way is also uninteresting. So, while I'm sure that Luz throwing herself into work will absolutely backfire, at least it'll be an entertaining character conflict, albeit a heartbreaking one.
(Also, are we just going to breeze past the fact that Luz has a petrification spell now? Because I mean...I think we now know how Belos will die.)
Why Eda Tells the Story of How She Met Raine: THIS HOUSE STANS EDA BEING A GOOD MOM!
Seriously, Eda wanting to tell a story she knows Luz will love just so she won't feel sad anymore is all kinds of sweet. It's still not a healthy solution to let Luz distract herself from her issues rather than confront them, but it shows how much Eda cares for her by doing something Eda knows will put Luz in a better mood. It's wholesome found-family moments like this that I live for, and I can't help but gush at the cuteness of it all.
Eda and Lilith: The same goes for wholesome sibling moments.
Yet, this scene with Eda and Lilith has a heartbreaking tint. Because, well...we know how this ends. We know that these cute sisterly moments fade away due to a mistake that Lilith will regret for the rest of her life. And, the worst part is, you see how that will start. Like the way Lilith gets insecure about Eda being overly correct about a question or the different reasons that they get excited about being in the Emperor's Coven. Lilith focused more on power and status, while Eda was all about the chaos. This proves that their disconnect wasn't sudden, nor was Lilith's betrayal. There are hints through Eda and Lilith's interactions that prove the day of their duel was only inevitable, making this scene all the more bittersweet. Because as cute as it is, it was only the precursor of something tragic to come, showing that their darkest days are just ahead of them.
Principal Faust: Or their darkest days are just a few minutes from now.
Here's something about Principal Faust: I hate him and everything he represents. He's everything I feared Bump would be as a cartoonishly evil principal who cares more about control rather than his students. And yet...he's in the "liked" section. Why? Well, for one, his design is wicked. Seriously, as twisted as this man is, at least he looks cool.
As for the real reason, it's because Faust's actions make me love Principal Bump even more.
Principal Bump: It warms my frickin' heart knowing that Bump always cared about his students, even if troublemakers like Eda were around. His ideal is that no one is beyond redemption, and the lengths he goes through to give everyone the benefit of the doubt just gives me more reasons to love the man! He genuinely cares about students, to the point where he'd confront a coven head that's ten times more powerful than him because he knows it's unfair to rip away someone's reward that they've earned fair and square. That and all the child-endangerment that Terra put the students through. It's everything a person could ask for in a principal. Not a tyrant, but a reasonable caretaker who actually likes children. It's just a better, well-rounded character compared to someone like Faust.
Terra Snapdragon (Spelt it right this time…): But, as much as I adore a responsible caretaker, there's something to appreciate about someone so maniacal. I think I said Terra Snapdragon is the type of person who would kill you nicely. Now, I'm convinced she would straight up mangle your body but have a warm, motherly smile when doing it. Seriously, though, this woman's insane, and I'm all for it. She's terrifying but entertainingly so. Where a villain like Belos makes me quiver in my boots when he shows up, Terra is more or less on the same line as a Batman villain. And, no, it's not because she has the same powers as Poison Ivy. It's because her personality is so strong that I'd have a blast watching her, even if it is doing something dastardly. Of course, if she'd exist in real life, I'd certainly head for the hills. But, because this is a work of fiction, I'll enjoy the crazy lady who lets children fight each other over ribbons for all she's worth.
(Also, it's probably a mistake on the character designers' part to make her look hot when she was young. Doesn't this series have enough milfs for creepy men on the internet to drool over?!)
Although as entertaining as Terra is, she's not the standout star of this episode.
Eda and Raine: Oh, how perfect these two were in this.
If you didn't understand why these two were perfect in "Eda's Requiem," you'll get it here. Eda and Raine are like partners in crime, with both working well together in both sync and in harmony. What's even better is that you get why Eda falls for Raine. While Eda can be all for chaos, Raine leans more toward controlled chaos, knowing how to let Eda run loose without getting in trouble. And if Raine being an evil genius isn't enough to make Eda fall for them, everything else about Raine will. The way that they're a skilled and powerful witch can match Eda's level is great, but how they offered Eda advice and tried to calm her down from her anxieties shows a person as compassionate as they are devious. But that's why we know Eda fell for Raine. On the other end, we understand that Eda brings fun to Raine's life, making them laugh and think of neat tricks they wouldn't have thought of before. You see how both get something out of their relationship, leading to some interactions that are best described as cute, wholesome, cute, funny, cute, cute, and cute.
"You said cute, like, five times."
BECAUSE THEY'RE CUTE!
However, this is Season 2B. So, not everything has to stay wholesome. Where's that anxiety?
Covens Vs Wilds: Ah. There it is.
As far as I can tell, this game is like "Cowboys and Indians," but worse. Way, way, way, way, way, way, way worse. Because Covens vs. Wilds sounds like a game designed for fear-mongering, and it feels...icky that there's a children's game about some witches running to avoid getting caught by the more powerful ones chasing after them. It's pretty sick and twisted, showing the dark side of the Emperor's Coven through the lens of what could be an innocent children's game. The innocence only ends when you think about it longer than a second.
As for the game itself, it's pretty intense. The second the game starts, everyone goes into Hunger Games mode, attacking one another and giving people barely enough time to catch their breath. Although, I guess a good thing that came from this is that it did let us see a powerful Eda again, which honestly felt jarring given how powerless she's been this season. So, it's nice to see a return to form again.
Terra Preventing Eda’s Expulsion: It's also nice how everything works out in the end.
I guess if there's one thing to complain about "Them's The Breaks, Kid," it would be that it tries to have big stakes even though we all know how it will end. Eda won't get expelled, won't hurt Raine, nor will Terra actually kill them both. Still, I'll give the episode credit: The fact that I knew the ending didn't bother me. Heck, at one point, I forgot I was watching a flashback due to getting sucked into the drama and adorableness. It's why I felt relieved that Terra gave Eda a solution to her problem. I was so invested in the story that I didn't care if I knew it would all work out. It was still fun to see how.
Raine Starting Eda’s Apple Blood Addiction: And it's funny to see how Eda got her Apple Blood addiction. But, yeah, it's also sweet watching these two bond over good/awful juice, and taking turns to lovingly stare at each other is such a solid note to end on. Couldn't ask for a better way to finish off such a cute and wholesome--
Raine Changing Terra’s Tea with the Whistle: …What?
Raine is Working with Darius?: What?
The Day of Unity Involves a Draining Spell: What?!
The Door is Being Moved!: WHAT?!
Raine Not Wanting to get Eda Involved so She Wouldn’t be in Danger: WHA–Ok…That is a lot. This is the literal last minute, and the writers threw so much at us...and I love it. I love that the writers managed to make a wholesome episode about how Eda and Raine met, but they kept the plot going with all these major reveals that still work with the episode's context. It's not like in Amphibia, where the ending stings feel like they could go anywhere. Episodes like "Anne Vs. Wild," "Lost in Newtopia," and "Froggy Little Christmas" end with scenes that don't really match with what happens before them, and it just feels like the writers wanted to insert these in the season but weren't sure how. Now here, in "Them's the Breaks, Kid," the ending works. It takes knowledge that the episode foreshadowed and, because everything was Raine-heavy anyway, ending with a reveal of what they've been doing the whole time just felt right. It's another perfect end to another perfect episode.
WHAT I DISLIKED
No, again, this episode is perfect. I might hate Faust, and adding stakes doesn't make sense for a flashback, but I don't care. Those are nitpicks compared to everything else done right.
IN CONCLUSION
"Them's the Breaks, Kid" is another A+. The Raeda moments are amazing, the insights into these characters are better, and the story's pretty solid. I was already a Raeda shipper before this, but after? Let's just say that, now more than ever, I'm hoping for the best for these two and that nothing can break them apart.

Much as something like Lumity is so amazing, I think there is so much power in such a lengthy exploration of the characters and such a slow burn
In real life, a relationship this deep and healthy doesn’t tend to happen quickly. It’s long and messy and complicated and requires each partner to be able to stand alone before they can be what the other needs and deserves.
What makes Bumbleby so special imo isn’t just that it’s amazing queer representation—it’s also amazing representation for all the self exploration that’s required to have a relationship like that
Bumbleby doesn’t just validate that two women can be happy in a relationship, it gives validation to all the reasons why that may not be possible right now without ever implying it’s doomed or any of the usual crap
As an ace guy, I’m happy we’ve been slowly getting more ace rep (though we’re still hugely lacking, and beyond ace rep even though there’s more characters without love interests these days the term “aromantic” I’m not sure has ever been said out loud), but rarely do they have time to actually explore their identity—and I think that exploration of identity and self and how that impacts our relationship and lives and self image is just so important to showcase and validate
Yeah, it’s great to see characters who are confident in their identity—and I’m not saying we need more Big Dramatic Coming Out Scenes—but sometimes it can feel like “it’s just a small part of who they are” is used as a preemptive excuse to not integrate that experience into the character
It’s true, my Asexuality is just one small part of me, but it still informs my life experiences just as any other part of my identity would. That lens, no matter how big or small a part of me it is, changes how I view and connect to life, the world and fellow human beings
Just because it’s not everything, doesn’t mean it doesn’t inform every part of me, in the same way the other parts of my inform how I express my aceness (such as whether I pursue ace activism or not)
In the same vein, Blake and Yang’s love for each other was never their “entire character”, but it did always inform and impact their arcs
the time and space Bumbleby got to do all these things—the exploration, the joy, the messiness, the healing, etc) I think is just so important
I don't know if I'll ever feel the same way for a confession scene ever again the way I did for Bumbleby.
An entire decade of slowburn, with adorable moments, angst, the pain of separation for two whole years, the connected storyline set up so early with Adam in the story.
And then the scene by itself, being so gorgeously animated, with amazing dialogue that sums up their entire growth upto this point. And Casey's vocals being as godly as ever, adding one more layer of perfection.
And for many lgbtq+ people in the fandom including myself, this ship was a big part of us exploring our queer identities as kids. And now as adults we get to see it finally come true. That's a level of catharsis I don't think I'll experience in my life ever again.
And this isn't even my favourite all time ship (it's definitely in higher tiers). My favourite ship is Kiana and Mei from HI3. But this is still my favourite confession scene of all time.
