Entkriminalisierung in Portugal).
Cannabis. Genau genommen sind nämlich fast alle Menschen ”PWUD“ 🍷 🍺 ☕ 🚬 💊

Things I found remarkable from Madame Putiphar: (warning: this post is mushy and earnest. And the writing is clunky af. if you don’t like those things, skip it)(no spoilers tho)
-Borel’s denunciation of the horrors of the ancien regime. From the kidnapping and purchase of girls as young as 7or 9 to become trainees at the Parc-aux-cerfs, Louis XV’s personal harem, to the illegal incarceration and disappearance of enemies of the crown(since the incarceration was not legal, your family didn’t know if you were alive or dead, and anything could be done to you because technically you were not incarcerated)(very reminiscent of certain non democratic methods of xxth c dictatorships), to the incarcerations of writers such as Diderot and Sade for their ideas. (parallels could be made with Borel’s present time and they might have. The book was not censored but it got such a terrible review from Jules Janin, Borel found it harder and harder to find work again)(Jean-Luc Steinmetz calls Janin’s review a rehearsal for the later censorship trials on books such as mme bovary and les fleurs du mal during Napoleon III’s government)
-a heroine whose shortcomings and aptitudes are not rooted in her gender (crazy I know.)(like in Champavert, where race is not deterministic at all) Debbie, our heroine, is a brave, intelligent person, doing what best she can in adverse circumstances. Not always correct, not invincible, not ever stunted (or blessed!) by the innate powers of femaleness some authors and thinkers seem to believe in. (a probable antecedent is Diderot’s Suzanne Simonin, some of her misadventures are similar and she is a fleshed out character as well)(but it’s been a while)
-an appreciation of femaleness and effeminacy, and androgyny. Because of their love, padraig and debbie’s genders mingle and impregnate one an other. Debbie becomes more masculine. Pádraig in his turn, is made more effeminate by his love of Debbie. And this improves them both. (The androgyne as a divine being is a recurrent theme in romantic literature, but an appreciation of femaleness, maybe not so much. Borel says padraig has been improved by receiving debbie’s femenine upbringing. That is unheard of)
-A narrator that shows love and care for his readers. Besides Borel’s usual use of irony and meta literary discussion, here he stops and comforts the reader, takes their hand (Borel specifically addresses a female and male reader) and asks if they’re ready to carry on. Since this was a book he felt pain while writing, he -correctly- assumes the reader will probably be shaken as well. This is very sweet and considerate and it never happens?? I feel like writers are usually here to lecture the reader and make them swallow their truth. (Borel does a fair share of that too, tbh)(there is more to be said about the narrator in this book. But it will require a rereading because I admit I am not at all certain about some things he does here)
-a Romantic’s take on the Enlightenment. Borel takes familiar tropes and makes them his own. I was reminded of Diderot’s heroine from La réligieuse, his playful narrator in Jacques le fataliste. Sade’s Justine, (tho sade does not really write humans, rather gears that put his plot in motion, this is not a jab at sade. just that debbie is not a sadian innocent sticking to her virtue in ways required only by the plot) Voltaire’s Candide and Laclos’ Dangerous Liaisons come to mind as well.
Overall I really loved this book. I have one or two complaints over one midly unfortunate rant about the roots of european orientalism, a queer character that is not that bad but uuh seems rather underdeveloped and tropey, and one coup-de-theatre death that was unnecessary imo. There’s also the narrator thing. This requires a second reading bc I found some of his digressions confusing. His tone was easier to decode in Champavert. Here I had trouble discerning what Borel is being serious about or not. Not all the time but occasionally. Hard to tell what he is serious about or not. But overall this are very minor complaints. I insist this is a great book!! And I feel very grateful for having read it 🖤
#putiphar posting#long post#if any of you read spanish but not french valemar gótica’s edition is pretty solid#very helpful footnotes and a list of borel’s many non fiction sources#fuck it I’m posting this#person seen liking something sincerely in public#thanks cam for the talks and for letting me cry in emojis at you#also: must read janin’s review now#EVERY critic i came accross#even if they dislike borel or not take his politics seriously sya that review is brutal and unfair

Eurovision 1967 my top 17
Hello again, and welcome to another episode of this long series about the ESC. Now it’s time to review what happened on April 8th 1967 in Vienna, Austria after Udo Jürgens’ victory in Luxembourg the last year. 17 countries took part and Denmark said goodbye for 11 years. Again the voting system was changed to the one that was applied on the first years of the contest. The contest was won by the United Kingdom with the song Puppet on a string, making this their first victory ever. And now, with the songs.
1st Place: UNITED KINGDOM/Sandie Shaw-Puppet on a string (Real Placing: 1st-47 points)
This song has and will have an special place on my heart because it was one of the first ESC songs I heard, the song is catchy, the performance is so amazing and she is a nice singer, another song that the contest needed to get into the 60′s. Worthy winner indeed and thumbs up for Sandie.
2nd Place: SPAIN/Raphael-Hablemos del amor (Real Placing: 6th-9 points)
Again this man manages to win my heart with his amazing voice and performance, another good entry from him and the music in the chorus is the best part, one of Spain best early entries and the lyrics are very good actually. Oh Raphael, I love you so much.
3rd Place: LUXEMBOURG/Vicky Leandros-L’amour est bleu (Real Placing: 4th-17 points)
Oh what a song!!!! One of my absolute favorites ever, and Vicky is such a wonderful singer, this song is catchy, the music is marvelous and Vicky returned some years later with another result that I’ll discuss at the time of that review. A classic song and one of the pearls of the contest.
4th Place: GERMANY/Inge Brück-Anouschka (Real Placing: =8th-7 points)
And this is one of Germany’s best entries of the 60′s, sounds modern and she is a very good singer, the la la la is catchy and the chorus is amazing, the music makes this entry a good one, and this one makes me happy.
5th Place: FRANCE/Noëlle Cordier-Il doit faire beau là-bas (Real Placing: 3rd-20 points)
This sounds so 60′s for a reason I can’t describe, the verses are very groovy and the chorus is amazing, the music is very good and she is an amazing singer. This is what France needed after their fiasco last year.
6th Place: BELGIUM/Louis Neefs-Ik heb zorgen (Real Placing: 7th-8 points)
I like a lot this one, so funny and the troll finish is amazing, his voice is good as well and yeah, overall a good song. Such an enjoyable entry.
7th Place: PORTUGAL/Eduardo Nascimento-O vento mudou (Real Placing: =12th-3 points)
The music on this one is amazing, and his voice is very good, I love it. The chorus is amazing and the beginning is excellent. Such a nice entry and again, an entry that IMO deserved more than some songs that finished higher on the night.
8th Place: ITALY/Claudio Villa-Non andare più lontano (Real Placing: 11th-4 points)
This one is so dramatic in a good way, Claudio’s voice is superb and the orchestra makes this wonderful, an absolute delight to hear this one. Both of his entries are amazing, but this one is superior and excellent.
9th Place: NORWAY/Kirsti Sparboe-Dukkemann (Real Placing: =14th-2 points)
Again an underrated song for this lady, her voice is so cute and amazing, an absolute delight, and the song is good and the orchestra sounds okay, nice entry overall.
10th Place: THE NETHERLANDS/Thérèse Steinmetz-Ring-dinge-ding (Real Placing: =14th-2 points)
This one is repetitive, but makes me feel good at some point, sounds like something from a Christmas movie soundtrack, maybe if the song was a bit shorter would’ve been better. Such an energetic entry.
11th Place: MONACO/Minouche Barelli-Boum-badaboum (Real Placing: 5th-10 points)
This one is interesting... it really sounds like an explosion, quite repetitive and maybe too noisy for my taste.
12th Place: IRELAND/Sean Dunphy-If I could choose (Real Placing: 2nd-22 points)
Also I like this, his voice is something amazing and the music is good, overall a nice entry but not a runner up.
13th Place: FINLAND/Fredi-Varjoon-suojaan (Real Placing: =12th-3 points)
I like this one and his voice is amazing, and the music is very good, but somehow turns repetitive with the chorus, anyway, a nice entry.
14th Place: SWEDEN/Östen Warnerbring-Som en dröm (Real Placing: =8th-7 points)
A dark entry, and his voice is good, but sadly bores me a little, the chorus is the best part.
15th Place: SWITZERLAND/Géraldine-Quel cœur vas-tu briser? (Real Placing: 17th-0 points/last)
This one sounds promising and good, but then she sings and everything breaks inside of me, I love the music and with another singer, this would’ve been on my top 5. That note at the end is scary.
16th Place: YUGOSLAVIA/Lado Leskovar-Vse roze sveta (Real Placing: =8th-7 points)
This one is sweet on the chorus, but as with Austria, I can’t remember this at all. Nice voice though.
17th Place: AUSTRIA/Peter Horton-Warum es hunderttausend Sterne gibt (Real Placing: =14th-2 points)
I always forget about this one, boring, uninteresting, sorry but not for me.

NEW IN THE BOOKSHOP: THE USES OF PHOTOGRAPHY : ART, POLITICS, AND THE REINVENTION OF A MEDIUM (2016) • The Uses of Photography examines a network of California artists whose experiments with photography during the turbulent, transitional decade of the 1970s opened the medium to a profusion of new strategies and subjects. Working within the framework of Conceptual art, these artists introduced urgent social issues and themes of everyday life into the seemingly neutral territory of photography, producing works that took on hybrid forms, from books and postcards to video and text-and-image installations. • Tracing a crucial history of photoconceptual practice, The Uses of Photography focuses on an artistic community that formed in and around the young UC San Diego, founded in 1960, and its visual arts department, founded in 1968. Artists such as Eleanor Antin, John Baldessari, Allan Kaprow, Martha Rosler, and Allan Sekula employed photography and its expanded forms as a means to dismantle modernist autonomy, to contest notions of photographic truth, and to engage in political critique. The work of these artists shaped emergent accounts of postmodernism in the visual arts and their influence is felt throughout the global contemporary art world today. Published in association with the Museum of Contemporary Art San Diego. • Edited by Jill Dawsey Texts by Judith Rodenbeck, Benjamin Young , David Antin, and Pamela M. Lee Artists include David Antin, Eleanor Antin, John Baldessari, Jean-Pierre Gorin, Helen Mayer Harrison, Newton Harrison, Louis Hock, Allan Kaprow, Fred Lonidier, Babette Mangolte, Martha Rosler, Allan Sekula, Lorna Simpson, Elizabeth Sisco, Phel Steinmetz, Carrie Mae Weems. • Available via our website and in the bookshop. • #worldfoodbooks #theusesofphotography #davidantin #eleonorantin #babettemangolte #martharosler #fredlonidier #johnbaldessari #gaag #allankaprow #helenmayerharrison #newtonharrison #lornasimpson #allansekula #carriemaeweems #louishock #jeanpierregorin #phelsteinmetz #elizabethsisco (at WORLD FOOD BOOKS)

Natural Colored Diamonds
At the point when a great many people consider hued stone adornments, their brains go to rubies, sapphires, and emeralds and much of the time they would be correct. Be that as it may, for the gems authority, they ought to likewise consider the most excellent, most splendid, and solid gemstone of all - the jewel! The vast majority don't understand that precious stones come in hues other than clear. The gems business calls these precious stones "white". In any case, the learned gems enthusiast realizes that the most wonderful jewels on the planet arrive in a rainbow of hues.
As a matter of first importance, the most wanted shaded jewels are for the most part regular. This implies they come out of the ground the shading they are cleaned to and are not treated or adjusted at all to bring out or upgrade their shading. A precious stone must be guaranteed by a gemological research facility to be called regular. Regular hued precious stones speak to under 1% of all jewel unpleasant prepared.
Characteristic shaded precious stones might be one essential shading or adjusted with an optional tint or tones. Characteristic hued precious stones are likewise evaluated for shading uniquely in contrast to white jewels. Normally hued jewels are evaluated in a specific order: black out, light, light, extravagant light, extravagant, extravagant dull, extravagant serious, extravagant profound, and extravagant striking. With most common hued precious stones, the more attractive stones are the ones closer to extravagant clear Engagement Rings Perth.
The least uncommon shade of characteristic hued jewels is yellow. Normal yellow jewels get their shading from the nearness of nitrogen in the carbon grid. Extraordinary compared to other known yellow precious stones on the planet is the "Unique", a 407.48 carat shield-formed advance cut jewel reviewed extravagant caramel yellow, yet inside impeccable. Specialist Louis Glick is the proprietor of this stone after twice attempting fruitlessly to sell the "Exceptional" at closeout with a save cost of $20 million.
Next most uncommon are the pink precious stones. Regular pink jewels are framed by a "plastic disfigurement" of the precious stone as it is being shaped. Before the disclosure of the Argyle Mine in Northwestern Australia in 1985, normal pink precious stones were far rarer than they are currently. With the revelation of the mine, they turned out to be more plentiful and 90% of the world's flexibly originated from here. Some well known pink precious stones incorporate the Darya-ye Noor Diamond with an estimated weight of 182 carats! The Graff Pink is a 24.78 carat emerald cut extravagant serious pink precious stone, and is the most costly gem at any point sold at sell off at $46 million! The Steinmetz Pink, the biggest extravagant clear pink reviewed jewel, was divulged in 2003 and weighs 59.6 carats. At long last, pink jewels got superstar notice when Ben Affleck gave Jennifer Lopez a 6 carat pink precious stone wedding band!
Rarer than pink precious stones are the orange jewels. Normal orange precious stones get their shading by the nearness of nitrogen and deformities in the gem cross section. Since the shading orange is a mix of yellow and red, the essential shades of orange precious stones territory from red orange to yellow orange. The most popular orange precious stone is the "Pumpkin Diamond", bought at sell off by Ronald Winston of Harry Winston Jewelers the day preceding Halloween and renamed as a result of its shading and the criticalness of the buy date. It is reviewed extravagant distinctive orange and weighs 5.54 carats. It accumulated further importance when it was worn in a ring by Halle Berry at the 2002 Academy Awards when she won Best Actress. Its present worth is $3 million!
The following rarest precious stone is the blue jewel. Characteristic blue precious stones get their shading from the nearness of boron in their structure. The most well known blue jewel on the planet is likewise the most popular - The Hope Diamond. Tipping the scales at 45.52 carats and extravagant profound grayish blue, this purportedly reviled stone was given to the Smithsonian Institute by its last proprietor, Harry Winston.
Among the rarest of the common shaded precious stones are the purple jewels. Genuine purple precious stones are nearly non-existent and are made by curiously high measures of hydrogen in the structure of the jewel. Most common purple precious stones are changed by pink with the goal that they are known as pinkish-purple jewels. Most are littler than two carats and most are cut as round brilliants. There are three celebrated purple precious stones known on the planet and little is thought around two of them - the Royal Purple Heart Diamond, and the Supreme Purple Star Diamond. The purple jewel went to the front line in 2003 when proficient competitor Kobe Bryant gave his better half a 8 carat purple precious stone ring after it was found he had a conjugal disloyalty.
Considerably rarer are characteristic green precious stones. They are surprising in that their development isn't from any imperfections found in the jewel. They are framed from presentation to radiation that happens normally in the dirt, in all probability from uranium metal. Characteristic green precious stones, in view of the technique for their arrangement, are frequently just green on a superficial level. There is just one notable common green precious stone - The Dresden Green. The Dresden Green weighs around 41 carats, and gets its name from Dresden, the capital of Saxony in Germany.
The rarest of all normal hued precious stones are red jewels. They are shaped by a similar procedure as pink jewels. There are just a couple of jewels that GIA has reviewed as Fancy Red (unmodified). The biggest of these is the Moussaieff Red, a 5.11 carat three-sided splendid cut precious stone. The reddest red precious stone is the Rob Red, a 0.59 carat pear molded extravagant serious red jewel. It is likewise one of a kind in that it is generally spotless with a VS1 clearness reviewing.

Natural Colored Diamonds
At the point when the vast majority consider shaded stone adornments, their psyches go to rubies, sapphires, and emeralds and as a rule they would be correct. Be that as it may, for the adornments authority, they ought to likewise consider the most excellent, most splendid, and solid gemstone of all - the precious stone! A great many people don't understand that precious stones come in hues other than clear. The gems business calls these precious stones "white". Notwithstanding, the educated adornments fan realizes that the most delightful jewels on the planet arrive in a rainbow of hues.
As a matter of first importance, the most wanted hued jewels are largely characteristic. This implies they come out of the ground the shading they are cleaned to and are not rewarded or changed at all to bring out or improve their shading. A precious stone must be guaranteed by a gemological research facility to be called regular. Common hued precious stones speak to under 1% of all jewel unpleasant prepared.
Common hued jewels might be one essential shading or changed with an optional tone or tones. Characteristic hued precious stones are likewise reviewed for shading uniquely in contrast to white jewels. Normally hued precious stones are evaluated in a specific order: black out, extremely light, light, extravagant light, extravagant, extravagant dull, extravagant serious, extravagant profound, and extravagant clear. With most characteristic hued precious stones, the more alluring stones are the ones closer to extravagant clear.
The least uncommon shade of normal hued jewels is yellow. Common yellow precious stones get their shading from the nearness of nitrogen in the carbon cross section. Outstanding amongst other known yellow precious stones on the planet is the "Exceptional", a 407.48 carat shield-molded advance cut jewel evaluated extravagant caramel yellow, yet inside perfect. Expert Louis Glick is the proprietor of this stone after twice attempting fruitlessly to sell the "Exceptional" at closeout with a save cost of $20 million.
Engagement Rings Perth Next most uncommon are the pink jewels. Characteristic pink precious stones are shaped by a "plastic misshapening" of the gem as it is being framed. Before the revelation of the Argyle Mine in Northwestern Australia in 1985, common pink jewels were far rarer than they are currently. With the disclosure of the mine, they turned out to be increasingly bountiful and 90% of the world's flexibly originated from here. Some celebrated pink precious stones incorporate the Darya-ye Noor Diamond with a rough weight of 182 carats! The Graff Pink is a 24.78 carat emerald cut extravagant exceptional pink precious stone, and is the most costly gem at any point sold at sell off at $46 million! The Steinmetz Pink, the biggest extravagant clear pink reviewed precious stone, was disclosed in 2003 and weighs 59.6 carats. At last, pink jewels got big name notice when Ben Affleck gave Jennifer Lopez a 6 carat pink precious stone wedding band!
Rarer than pink precious stones are the orange jewels. Normal orange precious stones get their shading by the nearness of nitrogen and imperfections in the gem grid. Since the shading orange is a mix of yellow and red, the essential shades of orange precious stones territory from red orange to yellow orange. The most renowned orange precious stone is the "Pumpkin Diamond", bought at sell off by Ronald Winston of Harry Winston Jewelers the day preceding Halloween and renamed in view of its shading and the criticalness of the buy date. It is reviewed extravagant clear orange and weighs 5.54 carats. It accumulated further hugeness when it was worn in a ring by Halle Berry at the 2002 Academy Awards when she won Best Actress. Its present worth is $3 million!
The following rarest jewel is the blue precious stone. Regular blue jewels get their shading from the nearness of boron in their structure. The most well known blue precious stone on the planet is additionally the most popular - The Hope Diamond. Tipping the scales at 45.52 carats and extravagant profound grayish blue, this purportedly reviled stone was given to the Smithsonian Institute by its last proprietor, Harry Winston.
Among the rarest of the common shaded jewels are the purple precious stones. Genuine purple precious stones are nearly non-existent and are made by bizarrely high measures of hydrogen in the structure of the jewel. Most regular purple precious stones are adjusted by pink with the goal that they are known as pinkish-purple jewels. Most are littler than two carats and most are cut as round brilliants. There are three celebrated purple precious stones known on the planet and little is thought around two of them - the Royal Purple Heart Diamond, and the Supreme Purple Star Diamond. The purple jewel went to the cutting edge in 2003 when proficient competitor Kobe Bryant gave his significant other a 8 carat purple precious stone ring after it was found he had a conjugal disloyalty.
Significantly rarer are characteristic green precious stones. They are irregular in that their arrangement isn't from any deformities found in the precious stone. They are framed from introduction to radiation that happens normally in the dirt, doubtlessly from uranium metal. Normal green precious stones, due to the strategy for their development, are frequently just green on a superficial level. There is just one notable regular green precious stone - The Dresden Green. The Dresden Green weighs roughly 41 carats, and gets its name from Dresden, the capital of Saxony in Germany.
The rarest of all common shaded jewels are red precious stones. They are shaped by a similar procedure as pink precious stones. There are just a couple of precious stones that GIA has evaluated as Fancy Red (unmodified). The biggest of these is the Moussaieff Red, a 5.11 carat triangular splendid cut precious stone. After what seemed like the longest forty three minutes in her life, Ava and Matais arrived at the Dennison Police Station. An officer greeted them as they came in the door...
MATAIS- “Hello, I am Matais Giobertti and this is Ava....”
Officer Martin- “I would know this woman anywhere...Ava Boedell. Even though the circumstances are not the best, it is an honor to meet you in person. You are my favorite actress of all time!”
AVA- “Thank you, but I am here for my son. I haven’t seen him in fourteen years. Is he okay, is he under arrest...please I need to see him.”
Officer Martin. “I completely understand Ms. Boedell....let’s go over here and have a seat and I can explain what has happened with your son...”
OFFICER MARTIN- “Nico, and his friend Shane Steinmetz had an accident late last night outside of town....”
AVA- “Accident!!?? Is he okay?”
OFFICER MARTIN- “Yes, he was taken to the emergency last night and examined. He did pass out at the scene, but the doctors felt it was due to shock. He sustained no injuries from the accident, except for a few scratches. His boyfriend apparently had made sure that Nico had on his seat belt, which probably saved his life....”
AVA- “Oh thank the creator...”
OFFICER MARTIN- “Unfortunately, Nico’s boyfriend, Shane did not use his seat belt and he was thrown from the vehicle upon impact, after he hit a tree swerving out of the way of an oncoming car. He was pronounced dead at the scene....”
MATAIS- “Oh dear...and Nico witnessed all of this?”
OFFICER MARTIN- “Yes, unfortunately... that and also witnessed the death of a passenger of the oncoming car. Nico was very traumatized and Sgt. Dixon has been with him they whole time. At the hospital and here. The police from St. Louis were here as well, and they spoke with our chief of police, Francis Rooney and he will be in to speak with you and your son in a bit, but we wanted to give you time to be reunited. Your son has been threw quite a bit in the past five days, Ms. Boedell. And now meeting you again after being separated for so many years, may be extremely...well traumatic as well. Let’s go into one of the interrogation rooms, and I will have Sgt. Dixon bring him in...”

15 Switzerland 🇨🇭 Géraldine Quel cœur vas-tu briser ?
16 Yugoslavia Lado Leskovar Vse rože sveta
17 Finland 🇫🇮 Fredi Varjoon – suojaan
I ranked 1967
And it was certainly a lot more boring than the rest of the 60s.
Also there must've been a case of laryngitis going round that year because Holy fuck did some of these singers sound rough.
Germany- Anouschka- Confession: This has been a LONG time coming, no idea why I put off putting this song first for so long
United Kingdom- Puppet on a String- Nostalgia aside, this one has aged horribly and her voice sounded like shit just like everyone else this year, but it's at least catchy
Portugal- O Vento Mudou- Used to be my personal winner, but was knocked down after I realised, you guessed it, his voice sounded awful
Ireland- If I Could Choose
The Netherlands- Ring-dinge-ding- Warning: This song can and will stick in your head for the next 48 hours. You have been warned
Monaco- Boum-badaboum- Honestly would be higher if it wasn't for the fact Serge Gainsbourg wrote it
Finland- Varjoon-Suojaan
Italy- Non andare più lontano
Yugoslavia- Vse rože sveta- The talking in the middle made it stand out, otherwise it's pretty boring
Spain- Hablemos del amor- The next few are also just down here because I found them boring too lmao
Sweden- Som en dröm
France- Il doit faire beau là-bas
Austria- Warum es hunderttausend Sterne gibt
Norway- Dukkemann- Just annoying
Belgium- Ik heb zorgen- Even more annoying
Switzerland- Quel cœur vas-tu briser?- Just... just horrible.
Luxembourg- L'amour est Bleu- Petty as Hell, but ever since one of my friends pointed out you can see her nips through her dress, I can't listen to this song without feeling like a huge pervert. It's the song equivalent of a creepy stranger touching your bum, I hate it.
