After what seemed like the longest forty three minutes in her life, Ava and Matais arrived at the Dennison Police Station. An officer greeted them as they came in the door...
MATAIS- “Hello, I am Matais Giobertti and this is Ava....”
Officer Martin- “I would know this woman anywhere...Ava Boedell. Even though the circumstances are not the best, it is an honor to meet you in person. You are my favorite actress of all time!”
AVA- “Thank you, but I am here for my son. I haven’t seen him in fourteen years. Is he okay, is he under arrest...please I need to see him.”
Officer Martin. “I completely understand Ms. Boedell....let’s go over here and have a seat and I can explain what has happened with your son...”
OFFICER MARTIN- “Nico, and his friend Shane Steinmetz had an accident late last night outside of town....”
AVA- “Accident!!?? Is he okay?”
OFFICER MARTIN- “Yes, he was taken to the emergency last night and examined. He did pass out at the scene, but the doctors felt it was due to shock. He sustained no injuries from the accident, except for a few scratches. His boyfriend apparently had made sure that Nico had on his seat belt, which probably saved his life....”
AVA- “Oh thank the creator...”
OFFICER MARTIN- “Unfortunately, Nico’s boyfriend, Shane did not use his seat belt and he was thrown from the vehicle upon impact, after he hit a tree swerving out of the way of an oncoming car. He was pronounced dead at the scene....”
MATAIS- “Oh dear...and Nico witnessed all of this?”
OFFICER MARTIN- “Yes, unfortunately... that and also witnessed the death of a passenger of the oncoming car. Nico was very traumatized and Sgt. Dixon has been with him they whole time. At the hospital and here. The police from St. Louis were here as well, and they spoke with our chief of police, Francis Rooney and he will be in to speak with you and your son in a bit, but we wanted to give you time to be reunited. Your son has been threw quite a bit in the past five days, Ms. Boedell. And now meeting you again after being separated for so many years, may be extremely...well traumatic as well. Let’s go into one of the interrogation rooms, and I will have Sgt. Dixon bring him in...”
