On August 4, 1964, following several weeks of national news coverage and an intensive search by federal authorities, the bodies of civil rights workers Michael Schwerner, James Chaney, and Andrew Goodman were found in Longdale, Mississippi. The three men, who went missing after being released from a local Mississippi jail, had been shot to death and buried in a shallow grave.

Earlier that year, Michael Schwerner had traveled to Mississippi to organize Black citizens to vote. A white New Yorker working with the Congress of Racial Equality (CORE), Mr. Schwerner worked extensively with a Black CORE member from Meridian, Mississippi, named James Chaney. The activist pair led an effort to register Black voters and helped Mt. Zion Methodist Church, a Black church in Longdale, create an organizing center. These developments angered local members of the Ku Klux Klan; on June 16, while Mr. Schwerner and Mr. Chaney were away, Klansmen torched the church and assaulted its members.

On June 21, Mr. Schwerner, Mr. Chaney, and a new white CORE member named Andrew Goodman investigated the church burning and then headed for Meridian, Mississippi. Knowing that they were in constant danger of attack, Mr. Schwerner told colleagues in Meridian to search for them if they did not arrive by 4 pm. While passing through the town of Philadelphia, Mississippi, the three men were stopped by Neshoba County Deputy Sheriff Cecil Price.

A member of the Ku Klux Klan, Mr. Price had been monitoring the activities of the civil rights workers. He arrested the men on traffic charges and held them in jail for about seven hours before releasing them on bail. Mr. Price escorted Mr. Schwerner, Mr. Chaney, and Mr. Goodman out of town but soon re-arrested the men and held them until other Klansmen could join. They were not seen alive again.

When the three activists did not arrive in Meridian, they were reported missing and soon became the subjects of a highly publicized FBI search and investigation. As the days turned into weeks, some Mississippi officials and white segregationists accused civil rights leaders of fabricating the workers' disappearance to gain support for their cause. Once the three men's bodies were discovered on August 4, however, no one could deny their fates.

While their disappearance resulted in national news stories, Michael Schwerner’s wife and fellow CORE worker Rita Schwerner, admonished reporters in 1964: “The slaying of a Negro in Mississippi is not news. It is only because my husband and Andrew Goodman were white that the national alarm has been sounded.” Indeed, investigators searching Mississippi’s woods, swamps, and rivers that summer found the remains of at least two more Black men: Henry Dee and Charles Moore, college students who were kidnapped, beaten and murdered in May 1964.

You been cheated on by your last relationship and of course this nigga is gonna take that for granted. You almost forgot Hobie doesn’t stay in one place nor commit to no one but himself. But you can’t also but feel like you should’ve been let down slowly.

Tears drop down your face as you put the phone back down. You should’ve learned from your last relationship but you wanted to try one more time.

You slowly stand up making her way to his closet before taking a sky blue suitcase from in the closet. You opened the suitcase before shoving her clothes in it. You opened the phone to see 2:45 am.

You sigh in disappointment before going to the bathroom to take all your skin products and bathroom stuff out and in your suitcase.

Hobie was still snoring away like everything was okay while you were getting far away from him. After you packed everything you took your suitcase by the door and saw your sleeping puppy. Mikey is a Alaskan Malamute who is also a boy that you took in from the streets.

So you grabbed your toph bag putting in dog food and toys for Mikey. You already called Jamie to pick you up from Hobie’s apartment. So you gently put Mikey in his cage as Jamie helped put the stuff in his car.

She gently comforted you as you stared into the distance of the window. “Everything is gonna be alright Luv,” she said but it still doesn’t make you feel anything better.

The morning came by as Hobie slowly woke up from slumber. He could’ve sworn he heard his girl shuffle in his sleep. When he looked around though for the first time in forever he panicked. He looked in their closet to see none of her clothes, when he looked in the bathroom he saw none of her Honey and Vanilla soaps or expensive skin products. That’s when he truly noticed he didn’t hear no barking to wake him up for Mikey’s breakfast.

No Mikey means no you. And Hobie truly couldn’t think without you there.

Never will you see Hobie cry but until now he truly cried his heart out. That’s when he noticed his phone faced down.

He opened his phone to see messages of Dj and him pop out. The messages of her and him were exclusive. Photos of her naked and dirty talk between the two made his heart break even more then he thought.

That’s when he checked his girl location, she’s at applewood apartment complex. He knew where that was of course he knew, that’s where you used to live, he didn’t know you kept your old apartment. Applewood apartments was very expensive and of course your mother and father payed for it with the help of you. Until you lived with him in his shitty Apartment.

Hobie hurriedly put on his spider suit and webs before swinging towards Maple and Longdale Avenue.

Once he got there he opened the window you forgot to closed and landed on the floor. He looked around to see you everything looks the same but without you and His pictures.

He then saw Mikey look around curiously at the new scenery before seeing Hobie. Mikey barked excitedly before rushing towards the heartbroken man.

As you walk in to see the commotion you eye popped out to see the very man that hurt you.

“Luv look I know-” but before he can say anything You slapped him. Mikey quickly left the room scared of the scene. “Never call me that, and never show your face around me ever fucking again you fucking man whore! All those text messages got me fucked up and now I don’t need you! So go fuck your fucking self” You said calming and sternly.

He didn’t say anything and He didn’t even try, he didn’t need to, as tears slip down on each of your faces. He nodded in agreement before leaving as soon as he came.

You fell on the floor as Mickey came back to comfort you. He’s all you have now, it always gonna be Mikey and you against the word. Hobie and you have been together for 1 and a half years and god knows how long he’s been cheating on you with Dj.

But you knew one day never will you ever look towards Hobie ever again. Genuinely disgusted is what you felt and genuinely you wanted to forget everything about him.
