The Impact of NGOs on Local Communities
Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) play a pivotal role in shaping the lives of individuals and communities worldwide. With a mission to bring positive change and address social issues, NGOs often focus on improving education, healthcare, livelihoods, and environmental conservation. In this blog post, we will explore the profound impact of NGOs on local communities, shedding light on their transformative work and the lasting benefits they bring to people's lives.
Empowering Education and Skill Development
One of the fundamental areas where NGOs leave a significant impact is education. NGOs often establish schools, educational centers, and vocational training institutes in underserved communities, providing access to quality education and skill development opportunities. Through these initiatives, they empower individuals with knowledge and skills, opening doors to better job prospects and breaking the cycle of poverty.
Improving Healthcare Access
NGOs also play a crucial role in improving healthcare access in remote and marginalized communities. They set up medical camps, clinics, and health awareness programs, ensuring that essential healthcare services reach those who most need them. NGOs reduce preventable diseases and improve overall community well-being by addressing health issues at the grassroots level.
Strengthening Livelihoods and Economic Growth
NGOs enable sustainable economic growth in local communities by initiating various livelihood programs. They offer training in agriculture, small-scale business management, and entrepreneurship, empowering individuals to generate income and support their families. Such efforts lead to a reduction in unemployment and contribute to the growth of local economies.
Fostering Women Empowerment and Gender Equality
NGOs actively promote women's rights and gender equality. They create safe spaces for women to participate in decision-making and advocate for gender-sensitive policies. NGOs empower women to become self-reliant through education, skill-building, and micro-financing programs, fostering gender equity and promoting social progress.
Environmental Conservation and Sustainability
In the face of environmental challenges, NGOs champion the cause of conservation and sustainability. From planting trees to promoting eco-friendly practices, they engage local communities in preserving their natural resources. This approach helps protect the environment and ensures communities can access resources for future generations.
Disaster Relief and Humanitarian Aid
NGOs are vital in disaster relief efforts, responding promptly to natural calamities and humanitarian crises. Their swift action immediately assists affected communities, including food, clean water, shelter, and medical aid. NGOs also participate in long-term rebuilding efforts, helping communities recover and become more resilient.
Advocacy and Policy Change
NGOs advocate for social and political change to address local communities' systemic issues. They influence policies, conduct research, and engage with policymakers to ensure that the concerns of the marginalized are heard and acted upon. NGOs contribute to creating more inclusive and just societies through their advocacy efforts.
Promoting Human Rights and Social Justice
NGOs are at the forefront of defending human rights and social justice. They provide legal aid, counseling, and support to abuse, discrimination, and exploitation victims. Their tireless efforts help create awareness about human rights violations and drive societal changes to protect the rights of the vulnerable.
Conclusion
NGOs have a profound and lasting impact on local communities, driving positive change across various spheres of life. Through their tireless efforts in education, healthcare, livelihoods, women empowerment, environmental conservation, disaster relief, advocacy, and human rights, NGOs uplift the lives of millions. Their work embodies the true essence of compassion, empathy, and solidarity, leaving a lasting legacy of hope and progress. As individuals, let us support these organizations in their endeavors, for together, we can create a brighter and more equitable future for all.

Improving Rural Livelihood: Strategies and Programs
Rural areas face many challenges, including poverty, lack of access to basic amenities, and low levels of education and healthcare. Improving the livelihood of rural communities is crucial for the overall development of a country. In this article, we will discuss the strategies and programs that can help improve rural livelihood and uplift the standard of living of rural communities.
Understanding Rural Livelihood
Rural livelihood refers to the ways in which people in rural areas make a living and support themselves and their families. It encompasses all the activities and resources contributing to their income and well-being, including agriculture, livestock, forestry, fishing, and non-farm activities.
The livelihoods of rural communities are often vulnerable due to the lack of diversification of income sources and the dependence on a single source of income, such as agriculture. Climate change, natural disasters, and economic shocks can quickly render a rural household’s livelihood insecure.
Importance of Improving Rural Livelihood
Improving rural livelihood is essential for several reasons. Firstly, it leads to poverty reduction and increased income for rural households, which contributes to overall economic growth. Secondly, it creates employment opportunities and encourages entrepreneurship in rural areas, leading to the development of the rural economy. Thirdly, it helps to reduce migration from rural to urban areas, thereby preserving the cultural heritage of rural communities.
Strategies for Improving Rural Livelihood
Encouraging Diversification of Income Sources: Diversification of income sources is crucial for reducing the vulnerability of rural livelihoods. Governments and development organizations can encourage the development of non-farm activities such as handicrafts, small-scale industries, and tourism.
Improving Access to Finance: Finance is a major constraint for rural communities. Governments and development organizations can support the development of microfinance institutions and promote financial literacy among rural communities.
Strengthening Agricultural Production: Agriculture remains the main source of livelihood for most rural communities. Governments and development organizations can support the development of modern agricultural practices and technologies to improve agricultural productivity and reduce crop losses due to natural disasters.
Providing Skills Training and Capacity Building: Providing skills training and capacity building opportunities to rural communities can help them to improve their livelihoods and increase their income.
Developing Rural Infrastructure: Developing rural infrastructure such as roads, bridges, water supply systems, and electricity can help to improve the livelihoods of rural communities by increasing access to markets and essential services.
Programs for Improving Rural Livelihood
National Rural Livelihoods Mission (NRLM): The NRLM is a flagship program of the Indian government aimed at reducing poverty and promoting rural livelihoods. The program provides training and support for rural communities to develop their livelihoods and improve their incomes.
Grameen Bank Model: The Grameen Bank Model, developed by Nobel laureate Muhammad Yunus, is a microfinance program that provides small loans to rural communities to support their livelihoods and small businesses.
Pro-Poor Tourism: Pro-Poor Tourism is a program aimed at promoting tourism in rural areas to improve the livelihoods of rural communities. The program encourages the development of eco-friendly tourism initiatives and provides training and support to local communities to participate in the tourism industry.
Rural Enterprise Program: The Rural Enterprise Program aims to promote entrepreneurship and create employment opportunities in rural areas. The program provides training, support, and financing to rural communities to start and grow their businesses.

You're not a failed artist.
After over almost two decades on the internet, entering various art communities and establishing my online presence, I've noticed something.
The persistent idea that you've "failed" as an artist if you get a "real job" will not go away.
This, for the longest time, permeated my electronic meat slab and nestled in deeply MUCH to my detriment . For years I fought with myself over this idea. Self-flagellating and noisy, negative thoughts were almost suffocating because I was unable to Do Art As A Job consistently and efficiently enough to maintain a living off of it. Between navigating life for almost 30 years not knowing I was autistic (and all that entails) and trying to turn something I love into something I could make a living off of, it was a vicious and repetitive cycle of trying something new, getting burned out, entering a depressive state, climbing out of it, rinse and repeat. This is clearly unsustainable, especially now that I am more independent in my adult life; bills aren't going to wait for me to get out of my depressive funks. Even having jobs and still making art on the side today, this idea is still nestled in there, nagging me sometimes.
Would I like to make a living off of my art? Of course! Would it be even better if I was supported from making stuff from my own IP's? You fucking bet. But I know how I operate, I know I can't personally do that (yet? maybe?). Now, I realize not everyone can just go get a job, and I don't want this to come off as a rally cry to Just Go Out and Work (I know many creative people are disabled or have other reasons they cannot work), but I do want to stress that its okay if art needs to remain more of a hobby than a job. It is okay if you cannot sustain yourself solely as a living artist. Over the years, I've burned myself out so god damn hard and have watched others work themselves to (near) death or can barely scrape by because of this incessant feeling that we need to be doing art 100% of the time to have "made it". It is hurting us both physically and emotionally to keep this shit up.
Going forward, we have to do better. There is no shame in having an income that is not dependent on the things you make. I think that it can help alleviate a lot of stress and fatigue that can become associated with creating (and thus, making it hard to do something you love). We need to learn to be kinder to ourselves and unlearn comparing our experiences to what we see from other creative peers on social media. Its hard, finding work sucks ass, and no job will be perfect, but if it can help you survive a little easier and rekindle your relationship for creating the things you love to make, it'll make a world of difference.
You are not a failed artist. You're doing what you can so you can keep doing what you love.
#*Real Job is used here within the context of mainly not getting employment in a creative field#I know that many creative people are able to get jobs within creative fields#but even that can help alleviate the financial pressure of having your creative outlet be draining#because your livelihood depends on it#Also I would like to note that while it would be nice to have UBI and more support for the arts in general in the US#that is not the case in the current economic setting and I fear it won't be that way for a while so working will have to do for now.#UBI would fix me#art#artists#creative burnout

a mismatched mess: a fitz and molly essay
In my re-read of ROTE, I am struck again by the profound mismatch between Fitz and Molly. Neither complements the other, and their relationship is fraught with tension and incompatibility. However, what really compels me to write this is what seems to be the prevailing sentiment within the fandom that places the blame squarely on Fitz’s shoulders. I believe that this perspective is an oversimplification and rather unfair to Fitz. The demise of their relationship was not unilaterally caused by Fitz; rather, it was a shared unraveling.
I will be focusing solely on events up to the end of Royal Assassin, avoiding spoilers for subsequent books. I will put it under a read more as it will be long...
I want to disclaimer that while I may appear fairly critical of Molly's behavior, I do not think she did anything particularly wrong and do believe her emotions and reactions are largely justified. It is just precisely because of who she is (and who Fitz is) that I believe they are a bad match. Additionally, I think Fitz's wrongs have been hashed out extensively so I will only briefly touch on points I disagree with and not elaborate overmuch on his failures in their relationship.
I will begin with their first reunion in Royal Assassin. Fitz has just returned to the Keep after being on his deathbed for several months. Each person he encounters barely recognizes him through his wasted and sickly appearance. Fitz, embarrassed by his weakness, pulls a foolish move: he claims to be drunk when a passing serving girl—none other than Molly—crosses his path. His attempt to save face and avoid interaction turns futile. And yet, despite the evidence that Fitz is clearly sickly in appearance, Molly's first reaction is not concern. It is not to hear his side of the story nor to find out how he has been, nor consider anything that he may have gone through. Instead, she is focused only on her own experiences, and her own feelings and thus responds only with pure outrage and begins firing off accusations with misplaced anger.
Without basis, she accuses him of courting her and then abandoning her. I think many take this claim at face value, because "Fitz should have known what he was doing" (as Patience also intoned). However, let's consider the books have established a three-year age gap between Fitz and Molly. Thus, in Assassin's Apprentice, Fitz would have been begun "courting" Molly at around the age of 13-15 while Molly was 16-18. Even without viewing this through a modern lens, this claim feels like a stretch to me. Imagine expecting a young boy, barely schooled in social norms, to understand that strolling through town with a childhood friend equals courtship. No words or actions passed between them that indicated anything more than friendship. I believe Patience's scolding and instructions were fitting and commendable. However, Molly’s internalization of this narrative against Fitz seems misplaced and unfair, given her knowledge of their shared history and relationship.
Then, after he shares his concern for her about what he saw in his dream. She accuses him of purposely scheming and attempting to deceive her; that he must have heard her whole story in the tavern and is just making fun of her. This is again a very unfair characterization for her to place on Fitz; nothing she knows about him should indicate that he would do something like this at her expense.
She has a right to be upset that Fitz kept his true identity from her. But he also had a right to do so. She gave him no grace and despite his apparent weakened state, she did not allow him to give any explanations. Worse, because of how Fitz is, he immediately accepts her view of the situation and berates himself for not realizing the courtship, despite having had no tools of his own to recognize that. This pattern continues throughout their relationship.
And this, in essence, is what makes Fitz and Molly such a toxic pair. She accuses him of things he does not intend or cannot change, and he, like a sponge, absorbs them as truth, eroding his own perspective and identity. And on the other side, I believe Molly deserves someone who will challenge her. Someone to stretch her boundaries, broaden her horizons. A companion who could wholeheartedly dedicate their life to a family and business together in partnership. Because, while not necessarily a flaw, she has blinders on and focuses largely on her personal happiness and fulfillment. She does not want to bother with thinking of the realm, the raiders or the help other families may need. This is a chasm between her and Fitz, whose heart bleeds for his people's misfortune and feels a duty to his station and Kings. Instead of embracing and appreciating Fitz's compassionate heart and will to make the Six Duchies a better place, she frequently berates him and minimizes his feelings by accusing him of only being a mere king's pawn unable to think and choose for himself.
Especially as readers, we know this isn't the whole truth. We’ve witnessed Fitz’s tears for a dead child cradled in his arms, felt the fire of vengeance burning within him against the raiders. Molly has not, and yet, it does not seem she cares to know. To each of Fitz's explanations, she complains and argues. While we only get the taste of a few of these encounters, Fitz comments that it is a frequent topic of contention between them.
Molly wants Fitz to fit into her mold and she wants what makes her happy to be what makes him happy. She longs for the days when Fitz was only Newboy. She says she just doesn't understand the things he tells her, and yet I feel this is the same "not understanding" that Fitz employs with the Fool; in fact, it is very much understood, it is just not what they want to acknowledge as truth. Because Fitz is not Newboy, and because she subconsciously blames Fitz for not being Newboy, she thus does not put in effort to know and accept Fitz for who he is. I do not consider her calling Fitz as Newboy throughout Royal Assassin a simple nickname; to me it speaks of Molly desperately trying to reverse time and put Fitz back in the box she liked him best in.
I think exactly how little Molly knows Fitz is further illustrated by the Nighteyes-as-Fitz scene. It is a weird and, in some ways, humorous scene, but what struck me is how Molly appears to know Fitz so poorly that she did not sense anything amiss about an intimate encounter with a literal wolf in Fitz-clothing.
Returning to Fitz's identity and 'lies' throughout their relationship, I personally do not believe that Fitz owed her the truth of his identity from the beginning. It was a deeply personal matter and I believe it was not wrong for him to keep it private. As a young boy, he felt his status as a bastard was deeply shameful, and it is no wonder he would not share it. In my opinion, he would have a duty to disclose if he had truly begun to court her, however he was never given this chance.
So, did he continue to lie after his identity was revealed to her? I do not believe so. He shares much with her about what he does, and about Verity and King Shrewd. It is not a question to me that he would not be able to disclose every detail of what he knows; his knowledge of his kingdom's affairs and his identity as an assassin are not entirely his secrets to share. There are surely modern equivalents of this as well. It is hardly unusual to be unable to share some portions of one's work with one's partner. However, Molly deems this as unacceptable and unforgiveable, despite her lack of interest in what he does— a further inherent incompatibility in their relationship. Instead of offering understanding and support for the isolation that Fitz must feel for being in such a position with his Kings, she resents him for things he has no real power to change. Keep in mind if he had left the Kings' protection at the time, his life would surely have been threatened as Chivalry's was lost. Molly should be able to understand this, and yet she cannot see past her current unhappiness.
In her time at the Keep, Molly also puts a large amount of pressure on Fitz. She is out of her element, she has had a traumatic experience, she knows no one at court. And so, she often complains to Fitz that he doesn't spend more time with her. In a very unhealthy way, she attempts to force him to be everything for her at the Keep— her only social outlet, her support, her protector. Due to this, her resentment for Fitz and his choices grows with every moment he is not with her, and she spends much of their time together asking him to turn away from who and what he is to start a life together.
In the end, both hold the other up as idealized versions one could never hope to fulfil; Molly wants Fitz without his royalty or passion for his people. Fitz yearns for Molly, stripped of independence, her self-driven, entrepreneurial nature tucked away. In their relationship, they offer only moments of fleeting comfort punctuated by feelings of sadness and blame. They cannot fulfill each other's expectations. Molly is unable to bolster Fitz's confidence in himself and the peace and acceptance he desperately craves remain elusive. And likewise, Fitz cannot offer Molly purpose or allow her the sense of security she desires under which to prosper her business and family.
And so, these two are ill-matched and ill-fated, clinging through each other to the last vestiges of a childhood they wish they did not have to leave behind.
#i do like her as a character#im just am confounded people see it as a true romance#she never really does anything for fitz?#and he only is with her for what she represents to him imo#i also have a lot of feelings about neurodivergence#and everyone just expecting fitz to Know Things#maybe i will write about that another time#i think generally people really cut molly too much slack throughout royal assassin#she was lonely and traumatized and wanted fitz to be her everything#she didn't want to be a servant#she wanted him to go help her start her livelihood again#all very understandable#but not healthy or romantic imo...#kizuna rereads#rote#realm of the elderlings#assassin's apprentice#royal assassin#fitzchivalry farseer#i won't tag this as molly#since it is critical#also be nice to me#i haven't written something like this in a long time#i also have quotes to support my conclusions but i didn't include bc it was unwieldly and unpleasant to read

Something that does genuinely concern me is the possibility of the Duffer’s being a major conflict of interest when it comes to supporting the strike out in the open. They’re not just writers but also producers and the show runners. Arguably they have the tightest relationship of any production to Netflix, and so just knowing that they’ve always been very much intertwined, are they going to be willing to voice their support for the strike, beyond just being WGA members who likely voted in support of the strike? Like even the cast, complete silence. I know that it can be hard for a lot of reasons, but the complete silence, besides that one writer who posted about it, has me side eying the situation as it’s unfolding.
For the last few Friday’s, they’ve been active posting about stuff, and so are they going to keep that going by posting today, hopefully something to agknowledge the strike, or are they going to just act like nothing is going on and carry on with Easter egg like content? Or worse, are they not going to post at all and so we won’t even know what to think?
It’s just so weird bc they’ve known about this strike for months now. They’ve known about it when they’ve been stringing fans along with little things over the last month. And now, silence, at a time when silence is not the best choice, especially when they are the hugest show in television rn. The duffers coming out and saying something about putting pressure on Netflix would actually have the capacity to get something to happen, and yet they don’t… and it makes me think they’re a conflict of interest bc unlike their writers, they get paid A LOT!
And when it comes to filming starting, I’m concerned that just because they have the first few scripts written and finalized, the Duffers are just gonna say fuck the strike go through with it and start the production for those earlier episodes, either without any writers present bc they’re on strike and so no rewrites, meaning we’re risking the quality not being as good as it would be with them. Or worse, the Duffers are gonna go cross picket lines and scab, and rewrite the scenes themselves essentially going against the strike and their own writers to side with the studios that want it done…
Like I want Stranger Things filmed as soon as possible, I really do. But I also am a little bit unsettled by s5 being soured just knowing they chose a route that sided with corporations and not the writers getting paid mf crap while they are in Netflix’s pockets.
Even though I’m skeptical, I’m still hopeful that they’ll say something, maybe the st writers Twitter will make a statement for all the writers, including the duffers to show their support. But just considering how quiet it’s been, I do wonder how they view the situation.
Do they think it will be over at any moment, without their interference and so they’re just waiting for that? Are they genuinely being advised to say nothing, including the cast and so that’s going to be the case until this is over (if it’s even over any time soon).
Like wtfff is going on in their brains I need to know what they’re thinking about all of this.
Bc them being silent all throughout or even worse doing the exact opposite of supporting the strike by literally starting filming anyways against all of their writers best interests, would be the worst possible course of action. The final season won’t be remembered for all the love and dedication put into it, it’ll be remembered for the greed. And that pisses me off bc the writers don’t deserve that! This is their baby and they’re literally out here risking it all to have a live-able wage, only to be undermined at the risk of everything. It fucking sucks.
#byler#stranger things#writers strike#st writers#duffer brothers#pls st writers Twitter post blatant writers strike solidarity today I swear to god#literally the duffers could protest#the cast could show their support or even protest#and we’d all be going above and beyond to pressure Netflix and other streamers to pay their fair share to writers#but they’re just silent#and so all we’re left doing is going#‘ughh when is s5!? I hope this doesn’t affect s4! I can’t handle any more delays! the cast is gonna be old by the time it airs!!’#and it’s just all so misguided#these ppl making the show we love can barely afford to make a fucking living#ppl involved with the show make millions and have a huge audience that could make a difference#and it just saddens me that they’re probably being told they can’t#and so they’re just staying quiet to protect themselves and their livelihood#it’s obviously not all black and white#it’s complex#but the sooner more people in power step up#the sooner it will be over#the longer they stay silent#who tf knows how long this will go on

I don't know how to tell you this but your artwork you submitted for geekdweek is now owned by netflix
Ehh I actually don't really consider that I "own" my fanart anyways, because technically the characters do belong to whoever owns the IP of the source material, and I can't profit off of them. Same reason why I allow reposts on other sites as long as I'm credited as the artist. I mostly post fanart online just to share my visions and interests and to see people's reactions.
#ask#anonymous#this is just what I personally am like and it's not to say everyone else should be like this#fully supporting that other artists don't allow reposts#I'm just lucky enough that my livelihood doesn't depend on this#Once I publish my fanart online I kinda accept that the website owns it now#Like that one Amazon Prime competition I entered......I fully read the terms and know that they owned that piece once I entered#what made me mad was that I didn't even WIN (hj (not really (hey#Also on another note...#THEY DIDNT INCLUDE CHAOS THEORY AS ONE OF THE GEEKED WEEK TITLES#BLASPHEMY OUTRAGEOUS UNFAIR

Do Bell’s Hells understand the motivations of the Ruby Vanguard and believe that people shouldn’t be forced to worship the gods: Yes
Do they want to release Predathos and have them eat the gods: No
This whole situation in Exandria is incredibly complicated and Bell’s Hells are right in the middle of it and likely don’t know how to properly handle it. The one thing they do know is that they can’t let Predathos get out, because it could spell death for Exandria. They may be indifferent about the gods, but they know that what the Vanguard is doing is wrong and won’t stand for it.
#I find it weird that some people think BH is pro ‘lets kill the gods’ because they really aren’t#FCG is forming a connection with a god and BH is fully supportive of that#It’s just that their priorities are on the people of Exandria#not the gods of Exandria#They know that people’s livelihoods are impacted by the gods#Even Imogen who feels a pull to Ruidus wants to save the gods!#critical role#cr spoilers#critical role spoilers#cr meta

Empowering India's Youth: The Impact of NGO Initiatives
India, with its vast population of young individuals, holds the potential to become a global powerhouse. However, this potential can only be realized if adequate attention is given to the development and empowerment of its youth. Recognizing this need, several non-governmental organizations (NGOs) have taken up the task of fostering youth development, equipping them with entrepreneurship skills, and creating employment opportunities. This blog post aims to shed light on the impactful initiatives undertaken by NGOs in India and their contribution to shaping a brighter future for the nation's youth.
Youth Development: A Catalyst for Change: Empowering India's youth is essential for nation-building and sustainable development. NGOs play a crucial role by focusing on various aspects of youth development, such as education, skill-building, and personal growth. NGOs provide access to quality education and vocational training, enabling young individuals to acquire essential knowledge and practical skills. This equips them to overcome socioeconomic barriers and empowers them to pursue their aspirations.
Entrepreneurship Skills - Nurturing the Spirit of Innovation: Encouraging entrepreneurship among India's youth is critical to fostering economic growth, job creation, and self-sufficiency. Several NGOs have recognized these potentials and initiated programs to develop entrepreneurial skills among young individuals. These initiatives include mentorship programs, business incubators, and workshops that guide business planning, financial management, marketing, and networking. NGOs inspire young people to become job creators rather than job seekers by instilling the spirit of innovation and enterprise.
Employment Opportunities: Bridging the Gap: Unemployment remains a significant challenge for India's youth. NGOs are actively working to bridge the gap between the skills possessed by young individuals and the requirements of the job market. NGOs equip youth with industry-relevant skills and enhance their employability through skill development programs, vocational training, and career counseling. Some NGOs also collaborate with corporate entities to create job placement opportunities and internships, ensuring a smooth transition from education to employment.
NGOs Empowering India's Youth
Pratham Education Foundation: Pratham focuses on improving the quality of education and enhancing learning outcomes for underprivileged children and youth across India. Their programs include remedial education, vocational training, and job placement support.
Teach For India: This organization strives to provide quality education to every child in India. Teach For India recruits and trains young professionals as fellows who teach in low-income schools, bridging educational disparities and empowering the youth through education.
Make a Difference (MAD): MAD focuses on transforming the lives of children in orphanages and shelters through education and mentoring. Their initiatives include educational support, life skills training, and career guidance, ensuring the holistic development of the youth.
CHINAR International: CHINAR International is committed to empowering young people in conflict-affected regions of Jammu and Kashmir. Their programs focus on education, livelihood training, and mental health support, fostering a sense of hope and resilience among the youth.
Conclusion
NGOs in India are vital in empowering the country's youth by focusing on their education, nurturing entrepreneurial skills, and creating employment opportunities. Through their dedicated efforts, these organizations are helping to shape a brighter future for India by harnessing the potential of its young population. However, there is still much work to be done. Collaboration between the government, NGOs, and various stakeholders is crucial to scaling up these initiatives and ensuring sustainable impact. By investing in the youth and providing them with the necessary resources, India can unleash their potential and drive economic growth, social progress, and positive change. Together, we can empower India's youth and pave the way for a prosperous and inclusive future.

Sometimes I think about how I used to know this like fairly popular artist who made a decent living off commissions who like, very purposefully put in her terms of service that she wouldn't draw ships. Which is fair, artists can do what they want- but I was friends with her at the time and so I knew the entire reason she had that in her terms of service was because she didn't want to draw any queer ships.
And the thing that gets me about it is that the majority of her fan base was/is queer. And so fairly frequently people would commission her to draw like 2 different bust portraits of the different halves of their gay ship- which! Good for them! But she like knew it was for ~gay shipping~ reasons and she wouldn't turn it down but she would come into the group chat and complain about how uncomfortable it made her. And how she hated how when she sold charms the most popular were always the popular fandom gay ship. Like she made/makes her entire living off of queer people. And like. Hates us. Behind the scenes where her fan base cannot see.
She would sometimes show the group chat asks she got asking if she was homophobic because it isn't actually that difficult to figure out if you pay attention. Because in spite of it all she did draw a lot of het ship art. And she would fret and worry that people would Find Out that she's. Really homophobic. And then she'd lose her entire source of income. (She would of course just delete the asks and never answer them)
And she always had such a victim complex about it too. Like The Queers were conspiring to get around her terms of service to make her, a Good Christian Woman draw their dirty little gay ships.
Like not a single thought spared for how she was profiting off of a marginalized group of people by publicly making sure she seemed totally fine with queer stuff. (In her charm sets she did always include the popular fandom gay ships, in spite of how much she complained about how she hated that people bought the charms for gay reasons) While behind closed doors she would mock and deride queer people and participate in discussions about how awful it is that queer stuff is so Normalized these days, and whatever happened to the sanctity of marriage and all that conservative evangelical bullshit.
And like I haven't interacted with her in many years, for uh. Obvious reasons. And it doesn't happen often but Every Now And Then some of her art will show up on my dash. Usually reblogged by someone openly and proudly queer, and I will just be sitting there like. Damn. You have no idea how much she hates everything about you. This sucks.
#ramblings of an arrow#like there is nothing I can do about it#which is fine#I dont like. want to try to destroy her uhhhh entire livelihood#I just think its really gross and shitty and deceptive#I haven't looked at her blog in ages so who knows maybe she's changed!#(I uh. doubt it. but yknow. I know people are capable of change)#I do remember one of the fandoms she was in was wwdits#which is so BAFFLING because it's got openly queer characters#and she would draw them!#I remember seeing some of her arcane and uhhhhhh across the spiderverse art cross my dash not too long ago#and just sitting there like. oh buddy oh no. you dont know.#I think it just bothers me because there are so so many queer starving artists who could use the money#and would happily without complaint draw ur queer ships#like I dont want her to starve on the street#but gosh itd be nice if she didnt tie the majority of her income to profiting off of a group of ppl she hates#im so glad our circles dont really overlap much at all anymore#because its just kinda depressing to see#I dunno where I am even going with this#like? glad I know. glad im never gonna give her My money.#especially because I know that like 10% of her income does tend to go to supporting like conservative evangelical organizations

Imagine like. A secular convent that isn’t a cult.
#an intentional community with a central mission of charity and service#just not based in religion#and with the structure of a convent#I think maybe just the idea of having housing is what appeals to me#housing and people that equally care for the responsibilities of maintaining it#not worrying about bills#this convent that Stacey Dooley is staying with has a shop to help support their livelihood#and they make things to sell there#like#that sounds so calm
