Revolutionary Army Punk AU
Ft: Luffy (not punk)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Steampunk is cool but i think just straight up punk would be cooler. I just think what they stand for lines up a lot better
Design notes:
I did some research and talked to a punk friend of mine for these as i am not a punk, myself, and I dont want to look like a poser. I think i did a really good job translating them and i want to explain my thoughts!
Sabo was first, of course.
I not only wanted to make the characters punk, but i also wanted to crank their designs up about 20 notches, so i gave Sabo’s scar one hell of an upgrade. In this version I tried to make it very clear that that cannon ball hit him head-on. I think it works really well with his punk vibes because under-cuts and shaved parts of the head in general are very popular in punk culture.
I largely tried to keep the silhouettes the same with this au, and It was really easy to keep it with Sabo because of the fact that he already has a lot of design elements that translate well to punk. His big pants into tall boots were perfect to translate, crust pants and steel toed boots fits him well. Trench coats arent a staple in Punk, but i couldnt take the coats away from him
him or Belo. They deserve it

I threw away his cravat for a choker, i replaced his vest with a red tank top and his undershirt for fishnets, Patches up the wazoo, he looks very cool.
Belo Betty was next, she was super easy to translate. She’s already in the punk spirit with her tits out, we love to see it. Her hat was really difficult to translate, along with all the other hats, but a red knitted hat that has those two points cuz it’s essentially a scarf sewed together looks nice on her.
My punk friend suggested i give her a bunch of nets and harnesses and i really agreed that was her style, so i gave her red tie to Morley, slapped some harnesses on her and just overall just turned her sexy up like 50 notches. I think i was clever how i adapted her striped stockings here with how they have runs in them.
Karasu is almost the exact same. I just threw out his dinky little cravat and gave him a bandana and harness. I also gave him piercings. That’s the only difference. In the words of my Punk friend “hes naked and wearing a spiked mask, He can hang”
Speaking of what my punk friend said, he said that Lindbergh would get “demolished” in the pit, and that he looks like he’s scared of bees. The consensus was that he couldn’t hang. But also i still had to make him punk, so then he suggested CBGB punks:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Redneck, bluegrass, southern american punks. I was really in a rut with his design, I didn’t know what to do to keep the silhouette of his backpack. But everything changed when I chance got the idea of a guitar. And then everything flowed from there
Morley was really really fun. Punk friend suggested i make him Pop Punk, inspired by this pic
Tumblr media
Mainly Lindsey way with this plaid skirt and tie
He was so so fun to draw, i love his fucked up eyes.
For dragon, i didnt change much at all, even though it’s only his bust that’s shown. Imagine everything is the same, except now he has piercings. Dragon isnt concerned with the punk fashion, but the punk cause.
For Luffy, I wasnt trying to make him punk, but he felt a bit plain looking like base Luffy next to punk Sabo, so i just did the “turn design up 20 notches”, and just gave him a more visibly tattered hat, bangles and waist beads.
That’s about it! Ive been getting a lot of comments and asks lately saying that you guys like when i go on my design explanations, and i realized that i didnt do that for the last few AU’s, so i thought id type this up :)
Thank you for reading!

BTW. Anyone heard anything about a theory going around that Lindbergh from the revolutionary army could be a traitor????.
I went down the rabbit hole when I showed my sister pictures of him, and I'm still confused as to what started the rumor.

one of my headcanons is that Sabo and Lindbergh get along really well! Because they have similar temperaments And eagerness to fight. And they started hanging out more after Sabo ate mera mera no mi. (because now he can help instead of just watching Lindbergh work)
I'm saying it now because it'll explain a thing I'll say later! ;)
Also a couple of my other hc about Sabo&RA!
Belo Betty really didn't like Sabo at first. Partially because they both are bold and rude, and Betty in general isn't the nicest to people and partially because Belo Betty believes that every person must make the choice to fight themselves. And Sabo didn't. He didn't have any reason to join the RA (apart from being an injured child with nowhere else to go), he had nothing to fight for. Of course, with time they built up trust and kinda good relationship, as Sabo proven again and again his devotion to the cause. They still bicker a lot, because Sabo is a menace and Betty has a sharp tongue.
This one is silly: As Sabo was still recovering on Wind Grandma he actually spent a lot of time with Karasu, as someone had to keep an eye on the kid. So. As Sabo wasn't able to run away he had to listen to Karasu's infodumping about crows (and why they are Friends and not Food) (you can guess the only bird Sabo didn't try to eat then on field missions)
And Karasu and Dragon are part of a really small group of people which are spared of annoying side of Sabo. Because he actually respects them. (Although Dragon lost that privilege after Sabo's memories returned) (his priorities shifted and it just so happens that Dragon is so easy to make fun of)
(okay, maybe it's just me, but does anyone else have the urge to bully Dragon?? I don't actually like him that much nor do I despise him.... but.... he is a tired old man in a family of outstanding idiots I can't help but want so squeeze him like a squeaking toy. metaphorically.)

One Piece Chapter 1083 - Initial Thoughts
Tumblr media
And we're back
After Golden week we are done with yet another break, and it seems even TCB were eager for it with an extra early Wednesday upload
So let's see what One Piece delivers for us this week
Spoilers for the Chapter, please also support the Official Release
Doffy's turn to show sentiment towards a small animal for a cover page apparently
Wait...WE'RE NOT BEING BLUEBALLED!? WE'RE FINALLY LEARNING WHAT HAPPENED IN THE REVERIE!???
Seems the Revolutionaries' plan was to destroy the symbol, food reserves and free slaves as their 'declaration of war', which they accomplished while getting Kuma back
12 nations went into uprising after the Reverie, but only 8 were successful, including Lulusia which means only 7 publicly declared that they won't pay tribute anymore
Makes you wonder about the four though, since those 12 were all connected to the Revolutionary army in some way
Seems the army's plans now is to cut supplies to Marejois, try to cause a shortage and lead them into poverty
It's an okay plan on paper, but the problem with sorts like the Celestial Dragons is that they'll punish the bottom of the ladder; having less food means they'll simply feed the bottom less
Seems Oda's not done adding new enemy factions though; God's knights are expected to be brought out as a result of the army's actions
With Sabo the face of this revolution too that makes him an easy target for the knights
Sabo doesn't like his 'Flame Emperor' name though, probably would like it more if he knew it was the name of one of Ace's attacks
Oda literally telling the audience through Dragon 'yes most world leaders are awful, but not all of them', reminding that Cobra's death is unfortunate and there was respect there
It is cold to say Sabo, I get you're content with the end result but being framed for Cobra's death is not something to be content over, a good man died
The newspaper article as well shows Sabo standing over Cobra's body, very conspicuous angle as well
Flashback time! Chaos in Marejois as the army commanders attack
Of course, the Celestial Dragons are useless alone, pinning blame on people not present and imploring they help them
One tries to shoot his slave for carrying him too slowly, but he is disarmed by Karasu
Like dude, you can't 'fire' a slave, you don't pay him a wage
Karasu is riddled with bullets, but Logia rules apply
Seems the crows are just aesthetic, Karasu instead has the Soot Soot Fruit
As Lindbergh uses a laser to break the slaves' chains, Karasu dives into combat with Fujitora
Morley is also fighting with Ryokugyu, which is causing a lot more environmental chaos, meaning Akainu fanboy is getting shit from the Celestial Dragons too
No Fujitora DO order a Meteor Strike...after all the good guys are out of course
I guess Ryokugyu's not Akainu-esque enough to go scorched earth on the Celestial Dragons
The rest of the CP9 squad are here, I guess maybe they're part of CP0 now too? Fukurou is styling with those shades though
Sabo's looking for the key to the collars, meaning that none of the commanders have Ryou
Charloss is still planning on going for Shirahoshi though, with Roswald and Kuma in tow
I wonder if Shirahoshi is talking to someone in particular in her panel
Brief Bonney appearance but no interaction with Sabo yet
Over with Vivi and she's not happy with Lucci being her escort
Proper roasting this guy, Lucci's in a battle of his life resisting the urge to murder
Well this is concerning, a sickly Cobra told only he can have an audience with the Gorosei, who have been told by Imu likely to target Vivi
Cobra though is fearless (or accepting of his fate), telling Pell and Chaka to go find Vivi instead
So I'm surprised we stuck with the whole Reverie storyline, I was certain we'd wait until things cooled down a bit more so Bonney and Sabo could explain the story to Luffy and Dragon at the same time.
That being said, there's not a lot of what we didn't already know in this chapter, we already knew the admirals fought the captains after all and that they destroyed the seal, it feels like Oda is saving the main meat for next chapter.
Maybe the nice round 1085 is when we'll get back to Luffy and the supposed Egghead incident, or when we'll wrap up the other side stories since we still have present Kuma in Marejois to note about.
I'm surprised that Karasu's fruit is soot, and that all of CP9 went back and are likely CP0. But I do feel like the army's plan against Marejois is rather, tame? I guess they do have to plan carefully. We'll need to see God's Knights in action before we can gauge their threat level to the overall story, but it does provide more firepower to the World Government side even without the Navy (since I still think they could schism).
But answers are coming...slowly...

Hey Hello! I'm New To Tumblr, Your Post Was Reccomended To Me By A Friend! I Found Your Event Here And Besides Compliment You, I'd Like To Ask You For Scenario Number 11 With Multipurpose Dialogue Number 4, Character Linbergh, Hope You Don't Trouble!!
Warnings: GN!Reader, hurt/comfort, burns, wounds
Word Count: 1500
It wasn’t supposed to be like this, things weren’t supposed to end up this way. It almost felt like a dream, a nightmare. This couldn’t really be happening, could it? Your home, your entire city up in flames. But you could feel the heat from the fires, making the night as bright as day. You thought back to earlier in the day, to how this all started. You thought about why this all started. It was because of him, it was because he was here, because you’d allowed him and his friends to hide out on your island.
The early morning sun shined down on you as you greeted your neighbors, heading into town as you smiled. He said he was going to visit, that he was close and would be there later today so you wanted to get everything ready. It wasn’t much, really, his favorite foods, a simple yet nice dinner, a warm bed. It was all planned out, you were going to brighten his day, let him relax after all of his hard work. He was trying so hard to make the world a better place, not just for you, but for everyone. That being said, he always said that you were his motivation, his fire, his drive. His sweet words always made you smile as you’d sit on the couch, curled up with him. The city wasn’t particularly big, barely big enough to even be called a city, but perhaps that’s one of the things that was so great about it. It wasn’t too big, big enough for your love and his friends to hide out and lie low for a couple days, but small enough that you could trust most people not to rat him and his friends out. It didn’t take long to grab what you needed, humming a small tune as you headed home. Part of you knew he wouldn’t be here until later, that it might even be well past dinner by the time he arrived, but you still couldn’t help but be excited, couldn’t help but practically vibrate with excitement. It took every ounce of willpower you had not to immediately get started on things. You had to wait, if you started cooking, starting putting his favorite things out, they’d be sitting there for hours. No, you had to wait and it was killing you. The best you could do was busy yourself with tedious chores, making everything look perfect before he got there. He always marveled at how clean and nice your house looked when he came over. What he didn’t know was all the cleaning was done last minute because you couldn’t sit still because you were too excited. By the time you were finished, it was evening, the sun beginning to set. Thinking back on it now, the setting sun had made everything look ablaze, as if the city was burning long before it had gone up in flames. The burning oranges and yellows, the fire reds that reflected off the windows. It used to be your favorite, you could stare out at the setting sun for hours, letting the last rays of light warm your body before falling beyond the horizon. The last bit of warmth before the coldness of night. You’d looked forward to tonight, being able to cuddle up with him and a warm drink, his body warming you and shielding you from the cold of the night. You didn’t know it yet, but tonight would be more than warm enough, tonight would leave you with nightmares of the blazing heat. No one had thought much about the marines that had come to town that day, they never found proof that anyone was harboring the revolutionaries. They were mean, sometimes even cruel, but they’d never caused serious problems. Even today, they’d demanded tribute, taken their money and then left. At least, so it seemed. You’d just started on prepping dinner when you heard the screams, running outside to see half the town already alight, a marine stood on the bow of his ship, laughing and shouting about your punishment for harboring criminals. More and more fires started and spread, until everything was burning. At first you’d run to the edge of town with the others, with those who were still alive and able.
Now, staring at the town, you felt anger, pain, hatred, sorrow. The marines were burning your town for no other reason than suspicions, you hated it, you hated them. They were evil! At the same time, where was Lindbergh? Where was the love of your life? He’d said he’d be there, he’d said he’d always protect you, always be there for you. How could he not be here? How could he let this happen? Your fists clenched at your side, where was he?! You shrugged off the hands of the people who held you back as you walked back towards the city, towards the fires. You didn’t even know why you did it, it was stupid, irrational, and dangerous. But you did it anyway, you walked into the burning city, feeling the heat against your skin. Almost as soon as you were in the city, you began searching for survivors, people who hadn’t been able to get out. If Lindbergh and the Revolutionary Army wouldn’t help, then you would. Part of you knew it was probably too late to save anyone, that anyone still trapped in the city was likely already dead, but you were going to try anyway. You didn’t know how long you searched, how many people you helped as the flames licked at your flesh, and the smoke attempted to choke you. All you knew was that there were still people alive and you had to help. The sounds of people shouting, of your name being called barely reached you as the shouldered the wooden beam of a house, helping the family escape, even as you felt the burning wood sear your shoulders and back. You didn’t notice as the rest of the wooden building began to creak, collapsing around you almost as soon as the family was clear. Shielding your face, you tried to look for an exit, a way to escape the blaze. You heard your name called once more, spotting a familiar face in what remained of the doorway. He pulled at the scorched wood, looking at you in a panic.
“Darling, I’m so sorry I’m late, but don’t worry, baby. I’m here now. I’m going to save you!” he called out, ripping away a board only for another to take its place. He ripped his gun out of its holster, shooting the beams away, panic overriding reason as he tried to reach you.
“Lindbergh, kitten, please leave me. There’s still more people that need you. The people left, they need help.” you said, coughing as you choked on the smoke.
“No! I’m not leaving you! The others will help the citizens, but I’m going to get you out!” he shouted, eyes widening as more of the house collapsed around you, knocking you to the ground. Your vision blurred before finally going dark, Lindbergh’s voice calling your name being the last thing you heard.
It was weeks later that Lindbergh walked through the halls of the RA headquarters, a bouquet of flowers in hand, his chest tightening. It had been his fault. He’d been late, if he’d been there on time, he could have saved more people, could have helped people escape the flames, instead, you’d gone into the fires to save others. You’d helped people, you’d done the thing you were always praising him for. And now you’d paid the price. He took a deep breath before opening the door to the infirmary, seeing the nurse helping you sit up. Your body was still wrapped in bandages from where the fire had eaten into your skin. You’d have permanent scars, you’d been badly injured but you were alive. He wiped the tears away before they could fall, walking up to you and smiling, you were alive, that’s all that mattered.
“Hey baby, how’re you feeling?” he asked, sitting on the end of your bed, giving you a small smile.
“Less like a well cooked vegetable than last week.” you joked, giving him a smile.
“Here, for you.” he said, holding out the flowers, making you smile.
“They’re beautiful. Thank you.” you said, taking the bouquet.
“You deserve them. You were amazing, you are amazing.” he said, taking your other hand in his, giving it a light squeeze.
“No more amazing than you, kitten. Are you doing anything today? The doctors said I could go outside so long as I have someone with me.” you asked hopefully.
“For you? I always have time.” he said, giving you a quick kiss on the cheek. He’d take care of you while you healed and if you wanted, you’d already earned your place with the RA, he’d never be away from you again, he’d never be late again.

So the Dragon appreciation is valid as fuck but like: what's your thoughts on some of the other revolutionaries? Ivankov, Sabo, Koala etc?
I love all the revolutionaries, they re my favourite op crew/group aside from the straw hats.
Koala and Inazuma are my other fav revolutionaries.
Sabos cool I like him but I just find the others more interesting, but honestly I didn’t get to appreciate his character much when I was watching it because I was trying to catch up as soon as possible.
I also love Ivankov, Betty, Karasu and Lindbergh.
I know the details of Kuma and Ginnys backstory but I haven’t actually read the chapters yet but I like Kuma, and Ginny seems like a cool character.
Morley and Hack are alright, but I dont have much of an opinion on them.
I also like the Terry Gilteo dude even though he’s barely on screen I just think he’s cool.

Dollar Bin #45:
Woody Guthrie's Lindbergh
Tumblr media
I clearly don't aim to do anything too serious around here but I have periodically ensured that Trump supporters feel thoroughly uninvited to the Dollar Bin.
After all, Donald Trump does not understand the Dollar Bin. Our very own Neil Young is one of dozens of dollar bin artists whose music has been featured at Trump rallies against their explicit wishes and whose sentiments about that fact are well summarized by one of the guys behind Panic at the Disco: "Dear Trump Campaign, F--- you... Stop playing my song."
Plus, Trump wouldn't even know there was such a thing as the dollar bin. To him, there's no such thing as art, let alone art - or anything - that can be purchased for a buck. The shoes with his name on them cost a few hundred bucks; same with his bibles. Sure, he'd pretend to thumb through some old records if those records were in a swing state and there were a few dozen television cameras around recording his pithy and racist nonsense while a wave of nutjobs surged about outside, hoping to see him at it. But, thankfully, that photo op is one of the few he's passed by.
The truth is that my own life won't change too much if he gets reelected. I'm white, male, American by birth and heterosexual so I probably won't lose too many of my rights. But I'd rush home and burn every one my records; hell, I'd even root for the Yankees, Giants, Padres and everyone else to forever trounce my Dodgers - I'm that earnest about this - if I thought any of that would help keep Trump out of the White House for good. I just hate everything he stands for. For my daughters, my students, my neighbors, for everyone. He is evil. And we are better than him.
Why am I telling you all this instead of recommending a Randy Newman record or something? Well, it's my worry that too many of us will leave stones unturned in the next two weeks when it comes to stopping Trump's return to power. I don't want to look back and think "I shoulda..." And so, for this moment only, I'm turning this blog into a political plea.
So, let's listen to some Woody Guthrie!
youtube
If you don't teach high school history or haven't read The Plot Against America, here's some context for Guthrie's attack on an American legend:
Throughout the 1920's and 30's Charles Lindbergh was our country's Tom Hanks meets Michael Jordan: he was our biggest celebrity and our most celebrated retired athlete all wrapped up in one handsome package.
The basis for that fame was his record breaking flight across the Atlantic, but he wasn't just a pilot. Get this: the guy also invented some of the foundational technology behind modern surgery and artificial hearts.
What's more, he was a famously tragic figure: his infant daughter was kidnapped and died in what white media at the time described as the "Crime of the Century."
Meanwhile he was a racist, anti-Semitic fascist. There's no hyperbole in that statement.
And in 1940, the Republican party begged him to run for president. Lindbergh, who was shy and paranoid, ultimately declined to run but he made his views clear all the same: the best thing for our country to do was to side with Hitler in the coming war. After all, he reasoned, Jews ran the world and they needed to be stopped.
And here's the crazy part: if Lindbergh had accepted that nomination and appeared on the 1940 ballot he almost certainly would have won and been our President. Really. And then where the hell would we all be?
I see a lot of exasperated headlines at this point: why, given Trump's blatant criminal behavior, his increasing senility and his rampant megalomania, is this year's election so close? Why isn't Kamala "running away with this thing?"
The answer seems fairly obvious to me: 1/2 of our country is either too apathetic or disadvantaged to vote, and just a 1/4 of us plan to vote against Trump because we are neither disadvantaged nor apathetic and we have a healthy moral compass. But that means a full quarter of our country's ethical compass directs them to sexism, xenophobia and a preference for "I alone can fix it" fascism over democracy. And that means Trump may very well win.
It somehow doesn't matter that even Trump's longest serving Chief of Staff calls him a fascist. Our election will be a toss up.
Which brings us back to good old Woody. His song about Lindbergh, the Donald Trump of his day, is tons of fun, I think, plus you gotta dig that hook: in Washington; in Wash-ing-ton.
But Guthrie, though a genius, didn't record Lindbergh until 1944 - a full four years after the American people needed to hear the song and act on it. And Shakey, also a genius, didn't record Ohio until after those bodies were lying dead on the ground.
youtube
There are just two weeks to go folks. I'm no Woody Guthrie nor Neil Young, that's for sure. But this post is me singing my own paltry version of Ohio and Lindbergh. My song may suck but I'm earnest about it: I'm trying to sing while there's still time to correct our course.
I should be doing way, way more than this - I know it. But thanks for reading this all the same, and thanks for considering. I think our country, like the dollar bin, is full of wonder and beauty.
So let's save it.

Have you noticed
that there was no steam-punk aesthetic in the revolutionary army
 before sabo got there?
I love to imagine all of them in their cloaks was like
“
no actually that kid might be on to something there.”
And their aesthetic was never the same since
Also, sorry i had to un-boobify Belo Betty. A crime i had to commit for the joke 😔

I'd like my list to be more diverse, but I went back through 10 years of reading history and decided that was probably enough.
(Oh god, I miss doing RA. I'm a former public librarian and talking about books is still one of the best things ever. I didn't leave librarianship for the lack of loving books!)

Perhaps I'm too eager after waiting so long. Perhaps I want this encounter in the next chapter very badly.
When I saw the small talk between Vegapunk and Dragon, I told myself, this is the right moment.
This is the best opportunity to provoke the encounter between Luffy and Dragon.
Luffy is just right there on Vegapunk's island and he tells Dragon he's going to die very soon.
I'm sure the scientist is talking about CP-0's threat and his future possible assassination.
Of course, Dragon doesn't want to believe it, obviously he cares about Vegapunk. This guy is his friend and apparently a great ally.
If Dragon loses Vegapunk not only he would lose a good friend but also one of his greatest allies.
It's not a time to joke. It's not a time to laugh. It's not a time to lose time.
It's about time to take action. It's time to send men to protect Vegapunk.
Of course, Luffy's going to protect the scientist even though he made shady things in Kuma's body.
Perhaps Dragon will send Sabo and Lindbergh, perhaps Sabo will force Dragon to meet his son and he will force Luffy to talk to Dragon.
Because Sabo has been created to solve the issues in the Monkey D. family and to solve the issues between Ace and Luffy.
Perhaps for the very first time (and I don't count Impel Down or the Straw Hats's training) RA and Straw Hats will fight side by side!
And it's the perfect time to reveal what's the thing which destroyed Lulusia Kingdom because Vegapunk knows dark things about that weapon.
I'm just hoping too much but it's been such a long time!

Commander of the Revolutionary Army’s South Army, Lindbergh is a cat mink that can fly around with his crazy gadgets. An inventor and a master marksman, he can freeze parts of people’s body with his Cool Shooter. After liberating the Lulusia Kingdom from Pirates, Lindbergh infiltrated the Reverie in hopes of rescuing former Revolutionary Bartholomew Kuma. But according to the newspapers, he and his partners lost in a battle between Fujitora and Ryukogyu. Their current fate as well as the validity of the article are unknown.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, LINDBERGH!!!
