Mysterion - Ryo Azumi, 1992-1995
PEOPLE HAVE GOTTA READ MYSTERION BY RYO AZUMI, I BEG OF YOU.. IT'S TOO GOOD TO GO UNNOTICED!!
The story follows a man by the name of Leon Schwartz..
Tumblr media
Leon is but a simple sailor, cruising through life and enjoying his time out at sea and the occassional breaks on land with his crew..
He's plagued with nightmares, almost everytime he falls asleep it's the same dream.. he's running.
Tumblr media
He's fleeing a scene, being chased like some sort of criminal. Then, there's a hand.. it reaches out to him!
Tumblr media
And then.. he wakes up.
Tumblr media
One day, on a trip to London to deliver cargo, the crew spots a lone ship floating adrift. Leon and a few others take it upon themselves to board the ship. When they investigate, at first, it seems to have just been abandoned. Which is odd, because the boat itself is in good condition!
Then, when they venture deeper.. they find the entire crew of the ship are all dead. Not rotting, no injuries, it's as if all life had just left them. There are no suvivors.. Except for a lone girl!
Tumblr media
When this girl, Lapis, learns Leon's name, she's suddenly ecstatic! She's brought to tears, holding him close to her. And Leon.. has NO idea who she is. Surely, she has the wrong guy?
That's where his ass is WRONG!! Wanna know more? go READ MORE ABOUT IT!! GRAH!!
Mysterion has very biblical themes, infact, it's very relevant to the story! There's alchemy in the magical sense.. and it's referred to as a practice that attempts to "copy the miracles of the creations of god"!
Tumblr media
Regarding how alchemy is relevant in the story.. in around like the 1800s or something, there was a time where violent heretic hunting occured.. there was a secret society by the name of the Rose Cross, a guild that practiced alchemy. The guild was under oppression for acts of blasphemy and stuff.. this guild ties in with Leon's origins and stuff;)
I'd say it's all really, REALLY interesting! And not to mention the art is just GORGEOUS?? HELLO?
Please read it.. I beg.. please, pretty please..💔
I've never gone online to post about something in this manner until like.. right now, so forgive me if anything is odd??
I haven't finished reading it yet, it has about 5 volumes and I'm on volume 2 now! I'm really hooked on it.. and I'm so sad I don't have anybody to talk to it about💔💔
The author also seems really cool! Funny thing is that Ryo Azumi was one of the people who illustrated that one manga bible thing. I was really surprised when I learned that whilst I was reading her wikipage,,
Her other works are very much inspired by old norse literature! E.g., Ring of the Nibelung and Scarlet Blade. She actually calls herself, and I quote, a "viking freak"
Tumblr media
I get you girl.. I love you girl..
GO READ MYSTERION!!!! LEON IS REALLY HOT!!!

People talking about how Finn Wolfhard always plays a struggling queer boy in love with his best friend when they could be talking about how Ben Schwartz always plays struggling lonely blue ADHD boys.
I mean between Dewey, Leonardo, and Sonic it's pretty clear.

January to April 2004. Fans of MY ADVENTURES WITH SUPERMAN would likely enjoy this poignant 2004 miniseries by Kurt Busiek and Stuart Immonen, about a young man named Clark Kent in a world very much like ours, where Superman is a familiar — and fictional — pop culture icon. Clark grows up the butt of many jokes, but when he's in high school, he discovers that he really does have powers like Superman's, something that has no precedent in his world outside of comic books.
If this premise sounds familiar, it's because it's a lot like the origin of the Earth-Prime Superboy, before he became a way for Geoff Johns to mock comics fans (and for DC to play out its institutional hostility toward Siegel and Shuster). In the pre-Crisis era, Earth-Prime, one of editor Julius Schwartz's little jokes, was supposed to be our world, where comics artists, writers, and editors transcribed the adventures of the real heroes of the other Earths. In the afterword to the trade paperback compilation of SECRET IDENTITY, Busiek admits that the similarities were wholly intentional, and that while he didn't mention it in his proposal (and DC didn't advertise it as such), this was essentially his extrapolation of that 1985 concept by Elliot S! Maggin, Curt Swan, and Al Williamson.
Tumblr media
After moving to New York City in his '20s, this Clark becomes a reporter — though not for the Daily Planet — and meets a young woman named Lois Chaudhari. To my knowledge, this was the first time a counterpart of Lois Lane was presented as an Asian woman (although of course she's not precisely Lois Lane).
Tumblr media
Throughout most of the story, Clark uses his powers only in secret, but he does make himself a Superman costume. Eventually, he feels compelled to come clean with Lois:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Like Busiek's ASTRO CITY, SECRET IDENTITY is a very introspective story, less interested in action (of which there's relatively little) than in emotion and small observations of life with superhuman abilities. If you're expecting bigger dramatic stakes, you may find the series underwhelming — there are no supervillains or alien invasions, just Clark's reflections on his life and family, from childhood to old age — and the fact that the story never reveals why Clark has powers may frustrate. However, its autumnal wistfulness is appealing if you're in the right frame of mind for it. Immonen's art is gorgeous, and I can't think of a better artist for this story, which straddles the line between a real-world environment and the "heroic realism" of the modern superhero genre.
Fourteen years later, Busiek tried to do a similar story with Batman, BATMAN: CREATURE OF THE NIGHT, with John Paul Leon, which doesn't work nearly as well, wallowing in some uncomfortable attitudes about mental illness and an inappropriate though deliberately ambiguous supernatural element. Leon's art is interesting, but the story leaves a sour taste, and it does not succeed (at all) in doing for Batman what SECRET IDENTITY does for Superman, which is disappointing.

As Long As You're Mine 18+ ˋ♡ˊ
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
leon stops by for a final goodbye before a mission
fem!reader x leon kennedy
based on As Long As You're Mine (from Wicked)
word count: 1.1k MINORS DNI (I WILL BLOCK U)
₊°✧︡ ˗ ˏ ˋ ♡ ˎˊ ˗
Your feet trudged to answer the door, unsure who it was as it was past midnight already. Squinting, you glanced through the peephole, trying to decipher who was waiting on your doorstep. There he was, Leon Kennedy. It had been months since the last time he was last over. Casual sex, friends with benefits, whatever you called it, it was purely sex at the end of the day, despite your bubbling feelings. Hence why it had been months since you had last seen him, a cliche, catching feelings when it was supposed to be just sex.
“Open the door,” he eyed the peephole like he could see through it, “I know you're there,”
“It’s late Leon, go home,” you shouted through the door hoping he would make it easy for you.
“Let me in,” his voice was stern, demanding, and if you didn't like him so much you would've ignored him. You huffed out in defeat, Leon was completely magnetizing to you despite how much you tried to deny it. Your body yearned to be close to him. Going against every logical thought in your head, you opened the door.
“There she is,” he smirked, brushing past you and through the threshold.
“Leon you can’t just show up-”
“I leave tomorrow,” he quickly cut you off, eyes locking with yours.
“Oh,” your voice fell flat as you watched him walk closer towards you. It wasn’t abnormal for Leon to go off on a mission every now and then, but something about the way he looked at you in the dimly lit hallway signaled to you that this time it was different. A silence fell between the two of you as you were unsure why he had come here of all places and after all this time.
Despite it being awhile, you two had done this routine a thousand times and somehow, he still found a way to make you nervous. The way his eyes studied you, how his hands trailed lightly down your face as he leaned in closer, all of it made your stomach churn.
Your head spun as he tugged you closer, his hands resting nicely on your waist. His fingers were toying with the waistband of your pajamas. A small smile flickered across his face, you really weren’t expecting him were you?
Your hand rested flat on his chest as he continued to gaze down at you. “Come on,” you whispered, nails barely grazing his shirt as you slipped through his grasp. Like a lost puppy Leon followed you to the bedroom, a path he had taken many times. His hand rested on your waist as he trailed a few steps behind you.
Walking through your bedroom door you felt a wave of emotions, happy Leon was here with you but he was leaving soon. Was he going to be okay? What if something happens to him? Where does this leave the two of you?
The sound of the door shutting snapped you out of your mind and back into the dark room. Leon stood leaning his back against the door, watching you. “What’s going on in that pretty little head of yours?” he pushed himself off the door, now sauntering towards you. The combination of the dark room and Leon’s brooding figure sent your senses on fire, anxious and anticipating his next move.
“It’s okay, I got you,” his voice was low as he finally approached you. His hands guided you back to lie down on the bed gently. Leon followed suit and maneuvered his way to hover over you. His lips connect with your neck leaving purple-tinged marks in a sporadic manner. Meanwhile, his hands were being diligent, removing your pajamas after teasing you earlier.
Leon looked back up at you leaning closer, his lips mere millimeters from yours. Any resistance that was holding you back had been shedded as Leon’s praise, mumbled quietly in your ear, sent a chill of confidence through you.
“As long as you’re mine,” the words were faint as they tumbled passed his lips, but you heard everything crystal clear. Too caught up in the moment, you were only able to nod back intently.
The gap between the two of you lessened as you felt yourself completely letting go into his grasp. His kiss was fierce, igniting a flame inside of you, like this was his admittance of the feelings he was holding back, like he knew this could be the last time.
Leon himself wasn't sure what had gotten into him as he began to slip off his shirt and unbuckle his pants. He had sworn you off, feelings got complicated and he just couldn't afford to get involved. It was pure torture staying away from you like an itch he couldn't scratch. Leon had become completely enamored with you and was entirely convinced you had him under a spell. The way his head spun whenever you were near, how nervous he got, he wanted to be with you. So once he found out he had to leave for something much more dangerous than normal, he had to see you if it was the last thing he did.
Your hands looped around Leon’s neck, needing him closer, trying to make up for the lost time. Bodies clashed as both of you tried to savor every last second. Leon could've been anywhere tonight, his last night, but he chose to be with you and that was all that mattered. Any unsure feelings or uncertainty between you two was now long gone, the line was officially crossed. The room was evidence of this, clothes strung out on the floor, sheets tousled into incoherent piles, the faint scent of sex and sweat lingering in the bedroom.
Morning was closely around the corner, as you and Leon did not do much sleeping. The sun peeked through the curtains, grabbing the covers your twisted away hiding in the shadows of your room. Your arm reached out for Leon but was met with nothing but an empty bed. Was your mind playing tricks on you? Was last night even real? The sound of dishes clinking against each other pushed away any of your doubt as you peered your head out towards the kitchen.
“Morning,” he smirked, watching you emerge from the bedroom, a blanket wrapped around your shoulders. “Here, you’ll need this,” winking as he passed you a mug full of coffee. Tugging the blanket around your shoulders tighter, you reached out to accept the coffee. Your eyebrows raised as you took a sip, a gesture to say ‘Thank You’.
“Least I can do,” he smiled while pulling you closer to him for a hug. His arm wrapped tightly around your shoulders, the other still holding onto his mug as he stole a quick sip of coffee. Bending down he placed a gentle kiss on your forehead, squeezing you closer to him. Neither of you thinking about his goodbyes that soon followed, or how he could be halfway across the globe in a matter of hours. For now, you two were making every last second count.
And just in this moment, he was yours.

In the early hours of October 7, 2023, the Idan family of Kibbutz Nahal Oz was shattered when Hamas terrorists infiltrated their home. As the family tried to take refuge in their safe room, the terrorists murdered their eldest daughter, Maayan, in front of her parents and siblings, and then abducted the father, Tzachi. The scene was broadcast live on social media, forcing the nation to witness their agonizing last moments.
At the same time, in Kibbutz Holit, 16-year-old Rotem Matias lay hiding under his mother's lifeless body, texting his sisters the heartbreaking news: "Mom and Dad are dead. Sorry."
In Kfar Aza, Roee Idan was killed while holding his 3-year-old daughter, Abigail, as his older children watched in horror. Their mother, Smadar, was also shot before their eyes. Afterward, the children hid in a closet, trapped with their mother’s body, unsure of their younger sister's fate, who was later abducted into Gaza.
ISRAELI POLICE SAY EXTREME SEXUAL VIOLENCE, RAPE BY HAMAS TERRORISTS WAS SYSTEMATIC
These are just a few of the countless stories documented in a new report released on Tuesday, co-authored by Dr. Cochav Elkayam-Levy, founder of the Civil Commission on October 7th Crimes Against Women and Children, and Dr. Michal Gilad and Dr. Ilya Rudyak. The report introduces the term "kinocide" to describe the systematic targeting and destruction of family units during the attack- an unprecedented atrocity that goes beyond typical warfare.
"A crime without a name for victims without a voice," as Dr. Elkayam-Levy described it. "The perpetrators not only killed but deliberately sought to destroy the very foundation of human society: the family."
"The hardest crimes to witness were those involving families," Dr. Elkayam-Levy continued, "While the Hamas perpetrators celebrated their violence, chanting religious slogans and broadcasting their actions on social media, the terror was not confined to the immediate victims-it was amplified globally."
"The use of social media was crucial in spreading the terror, inspiring similar acts of violence elsewhere," Merav Israeli-Amarant, CEO of the Civil Commission, told Fox News Digital. She referred to this tactic as the "terror theater" a term coined by legal scholar Tehila Schwartz Altshuler, explaining how the broadcasts were designed to radicalize and incite other terrorists.
As Elkayam-Levy and her team dug deeper, they realized that similar tactics have been documented in conflicts across the globe, from Argentina and Iraq to Syria, Sierra Leone and Myanmar. "We’ve been in contact with survivors of kinocide, including Yazidis, who have shared their experiences. The pain is universal. This has happened before, but it never had a name," Dr. Elkayam-Levy said.
In collaboration with the Raoul Wallenberg Center for Human Rights, the commission worked to identify these patterns of abuse and ensure that kinocide is recognized as a distinct crime. The new report, released after a year of research, includes interviews with survivors, visits to the sites where the atrocities took place, and an extensive review of evidence. The goal is to bring kinocide into international legal discourse, advocating for its urgent need to be recognized as a distinct crime.
'I WILL BE HAUNTED FOREVER’: ISRAEL’S HORRIFIC VIDEO OF HAMAS ATROCITIES LEAVES VIEWERS SHOCKED AND SICKENED
Professor Irwin Cotler, former Minister of Justice of Canada and International Chair of the Raoul Wallenberg Center for Human Rights, stated, "Silence in the face of such evil is not neutrality; it is complicity. Worse still, there has been denial, justification, and even the glorification of these heinous acts, underscoring the moral and legal imperative to act decisively against such crimes. The dangers of antisemitism are not just the oldest and most lethal of hatreds- they are also a presage of global evil, as evidenced by the events of October 7."
"We need an international coalition to address this systematic targeting of families," Elkayam-Levy said. "But international law has failed the survivors of October 7. The current legal frameworks do not adequately protect families in these kinds of attacks."
The report, which has been endorsed by international law experts and human rights activists worldwide, highlights the urgent need for legal and social recognition of kinocide. However, despite the report’s widespread endorsement, Elkayam-Levy expressed her concern over the international community’s response.
As someone who faced the denial of prominent figures in the international human rights community in response to her last report on sexual violence on Oct. 7, she said, "We live in dark times when international law is weaponized against us (Israelis) in terrifying ways. As an international human rights scholar, I never imagined that we would live in a time when such abuse is directed at us. It really scares me."

when I was in middle school I remember when they where teaching us about phenotypes, and trying to get an idea of the number of humans living and that had ever live, and just thinking, damn, I bet there are people throughout time that have looked just like each other, even though they didn't intersect on the axis of time or location.... a secret twin you lost in the vast sands of time....
Pictured: On the left is a young Leon Trotsky. On the right is actor Ben Schwartz. They look, at least in the eyes of the post author, uncannily similar.

Please excuse the ramblings of an insomniac. But I have just been watching Miles perform One Man Band from his new album. Aside from being amazing, I can't help but notice that it sounds like it's the same character as Mr Schwartz.
Miles being Miles his lyrics are much more straightforward, but basically both songs have an air of loneliness, from the viewpoint of a performer who keeps going for everyone else. Also interestingly they both reference having a love song for 'you'. (Of course A Song for You by Leon Russell is one of Alex's favourite songs).
So what does this mean? I don't know. They're both lonely? It's just a general observation on being a performer? Maybe. But I just needed to share. Now I am going to try and sleep.
