Thoughts On Frederic Malle Leaving His Own Brand -- And Reviews Of Some Of His Classic Scents
Frederic Malle has announced he's leaving his own brand -- some thoughts from me, followed by reviews of a few his classic releases
— The speculators I alluded to above are theorising about all manner of likely (and less likely) reasons and scenarios. Take your pick from whichever of the following you fancy: i) thwarted creative freedom, ii) clashing and disagreeing with the marketing strategies employed by a multi-national monolith, iii) not wanting to put up any longer with his perfumes being cheapened, iv) the end of the…

heres a fun csm fact nobody wants or needs to know
almost every character in the french translation refers to the angel devil by a different name
kishibe calls him “le demon angelique” which essentially just translates to “the angel devil”. simple and to the point
much like in the english translation, aki calls him “l’ange” (”angel”)
denji gets a bit weirder by calling him cupid, “le cupidon”
but makima has by far the worst: “mon petit ange” (”my little angel”)

' admite.

Details on Junot's older brother
I've managed to find a little bit of information on Junot's older brother, Guy-Claude. As he was a more private individual and not very well known, there's not much at all, but at least it's something.
He was born on 11th September 1766 in Bussy-le-Grand, making him 5 years older than Junot.
At some point he became a parish priest, but lost this position during the French Revolution (dates are unspecified).
He then joined the army, but in finance rather than seeing any action. He became paymaster to the Army of the Rhine, then to the Army of Egypt - Junot's friend Hamelin tells us this:
The paymaster Junot (brother of the aide-de-camp) who accompanied him was injured at the same time as him and decided to leave immediately for France.
How exactly this injury was acquired and what happened next is, once again, unknown. But in 1801 Guy-Claude became receiver-general of Lot-et-Garonne, then of Haute-Saone from 1802 to 1815.
In 1795 Guy-Claude had married Angelique Magdaleine Henry (1773-1832), a fellow Burgundian, and the couple had two children: Angelique Junot (b.1803) and Jules-Andoche Junot (b.1805)
Guy-Claude Junot died on 3rd March 1821, at the age of 55.

Fate of Marie Angélique Lequesne wife of Ronsin
While searching for information about the widow of Charles Philippe Ronsin, namely Marie-Angélique Lequesne, here is what I found. She supposedly remarried with Turreau (one of the characters I detest the most from the French Revolution period). Here is an excerpt from a text by Catherine Allgor, and the title of the book is Dolley Madison: The Problem of National Unity.
« She ( Dolley Madison) enjoyed a deep connection with Marie-Angélique Lequesne Ronsin Turreau. This diplomatic wife was a remarkable person, a commoner who (…) husband married her out of gratitude after she helped him escape from imprisonment during the French Revolution. Dolley « loved the womens for her singularity which are scarcely know to others ». Dolley described her as « good natured inteligent, gernous plain and curious ». They genuily enjoyed each other.(…)
Madame Turreau played a part in « finishing » Dolley, preparing for her life as a prominent political wife(….). Marie-Angélique did a jood job as Dolley became more proficient in the official langage of diplomacy and so was able to communicate with all future foreign emissaries.
But Dolley also understood their relationship not to be merely one of personnal affections but to have national and international relationships implications. Dolley did not like Marie Angélique’s husband, the French minister, Louis-Marie Turreau. She found his treatment of his wife shocking. Western Countries allowed for husband to « correct » their wives with corporal punishment. But Turreau’s cruelty to his wife went too far ».
Mini reflections: I do not know Dolley Madison, so I will leave those who are familiar with the subject to address it. I am not sure if the statements reported by this text are true, so I am expressly asking you if it is correct or not. Nevertheless, it is regrettable to think that if it is true, it is sad to see Marie-Angélique Lequesne, after suffering the loss of her husband Charles Philippe Ronsin, who was guillotined as a Hébertist in 1794, having to endure the violence of her second husband. Especially in view of the qualities attributed to this woman. It also seems that she was very politicized, but this aptitude has been eclipsed, just like with the wives of other revolutionaries (Elisabeth Le Bas, Lucile Desmoulins, Sophie Momoro, Sophie de Grouchy, etc.), and it should be discussed more.
Regarding domestic violence, I do not like the implication that it was seen as the norm for husbands to beat their wives. Perhaps this text explains that unfortunately, it was too common, but we cannot excuse it by saying it was their time. For example, Jean-Paul Marat, also a man of his time, strongly condemned in his journal and writings the violence women suffered in their homes and encouraged them to leave if they experienced violence.
But it does not surprise me coming from a man like Turreau. I find him detestable, incompetent, and he displayed such cruelty that instead of quelling the rebellion in Vendée, it only intensified, which is logical (sorry to his fans, I confess that I hate him). From a cruel man, the fact that he would subject his wife to violence does not surprise me. I wonder if he married Marie-Angélique Lequesne out of regard for Ronsin or simply because she had married a former member of the Club des Cordeliers, a general-in-chief of the revolutionary army who proved to be an honest and competent administrator, and that this could enhance Turreau’s reputation (I am not saying that Ronsin was perfect, far from it, he also had his faults, but clearly not as much as Turreau and it seems that he was much more competent than him). To be fair with him he was not the only responsible for the atrocities committed in Vendée, far from it, but he remains detestable. But I am surprise to read that Marie Angelique Lequesne helped him get out of prison. I thought it was because he was acquitted by a military tribunal on December 19, 1795.
In short, it is sad to see how competent women were sidelined due to sexism and poorly protected by society.

My lovely Mistress, Countess, M'Lady, Lady of le gay, whichever you prefer, in regards to music, I have a song that I'd recommend, "Burn" by The Last Dinner Party! These ladies have really nice music, and while I don't think it quite fits in the category of Jazz, I'd like to hear your thoughts about it if you're interested :3
Yours truly, Angelique <3
Alcina Dimitrescu: Positively excellent work, Angelique. I really do love this, one of my favorites of the recommendations as of yet. I've always had a great appreciation for quality melodrama. *hums it to herself in between drags on her quellezaire, she watches the rain outside the window as she smokes*
(Sorry this response took a minute, I try to answer them as quickly as I can. Also I really liked it and now I really like the band, so y'know thanks for the inadvertent introduction. Also calling Lady Dimitrescu, Lady of Le Gay is fucking perfect and I fucking love it and I'm going to fucking use it.)

I decided to rewrite the beginning of chapter 2 of "Walk on With Hope in Your Heart", so here's that:
It had been two weeks since Malcolm was admitted to the hospital. Just as Gil had expected, Malcolm's headspace had ended up on the younger end of the age spectrum. He woke up in a newborn headspace the afternoon after Gil told him about everything that had happened with Watkins and he hadn't aged up in the slightest since, staying firmly in the one-week mark.
Normally when Malcolm was in a very young headspace like this, he was a relatively easy baby to care for, sleeping most of the time and only crying when he was hungry or needed a diaper change. However, given the pain from his injuries and the grief that was no doubt still present despite his current headspace, Malcolm was almost the complete opposite now. While Malcolm did still sleep a fair amount, he would also burst into tears at random and it would more often than not take hours for him to stop crying. Nothing Gil said or did in attempts to calm his son almost never worked entirely, and it took him crying himself into an exhausted sleep for him to eventually calm down.
Gil lost count of just how many days and nights he'd paced the hospital room's floor with an inconsolable baby over the last couple of weeks.
Fortunately, Malcolm's physical recovery was progressing smoothly enough that the doctor saw no reason to keep him in the hospital any longer. His stab wound was healing nicely and showed no signs of infection, which meant his stitches had finally been removed, and his bulky cast had also been replaced by a black splint that he would need to wear for the next four to six weeks. The doctor gave Gil a few pamphlets on various physical therapy programs for Littles and advised him that as soon as the splint came off, he was going to want to call one of the programs right away to schedule an appointment, since it tended to take about a week to get in.
Now, they just had to wait for the doctor to sign the discharge papers and then they would finally be allowed to go home.
In the meantime, Gil quietly packed up the room while Malcolm (mercifully) slept in the hospital issued crib. Aside from a few toiletries and personal items that Gil had brought from home, most of what he packed consisted of the stuffed animals and 'get well soon' cards that had come from the team, Dr. Le Deux, Adolpho, and Mr. David.
Just as Gil slipped the last of the cards into the bag alongside the various stuffed toys, there was a soft knock at the door before it opened to reveal JT. The younger man stepped inside and carefully shut the door behind him, keeping his voice low when he spoke.
"Hey, boss. You two about ready to head out?"
When Gil had let everyone know Malcolm would be getting discharged today, JT had offered to drive them home, so Gil would be able ride in the back with Malcolm in case the baby needed him.
