thinking abt klav dar morality and stuff is so fun to me but it's soooo unsatisfying bc ill NEVER HAVE ANY ANSWER EVER. sigh! and also it's deeply tainted by my own beliefs. SIGH!
i like them being pre-gavinners young and childish and "oh well, clearly, Bad People do Bad Things" a thing they both agree on. very confidently. i like a daryan who like, you'd think he was a delinquent kid, a shitty brat.... but tbh i just don't think it would be the case. i think MAYBE he got in some fights.... but i don't think he was the full blown like, "always in trouble good for nothing no future" esque punk.
i think if he was cool enough to be a delinquent he wouldnt be in the FUCKING GAVINNERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!COUGHS UP BLOOD
i think klavier went into law bc kristoph (obviously) and daryan went into law bc of klavier more or less..
i think of them having really confident discussions on like. well why don't evil people just not be evil. right? "oh clearly something would have to be wrong with you to murder someone." esque beliefs. "normal people can't do something so fucked up." stuff like that...dumb self assured kids. esp klavier, who i don't have interesting thoughts on bc i dont care about him LOL
like they get a little older. and get into law. and it's cool. and fucking awesome. and aging makes them a little less tightass about everything. they get independent they make music they get exposed to the wider world etc.... i think daryan stays looser about it overall, about crime and shit. and then daryan moves to a different division and quits working w klav on cases and blah blah
taking the music as a metaphor for their view on crime probably, how klavier freaking over [the missed cue] whereas daryan insists that it's Not A Big Deal... which, like, for the case specifically, it did turn out to be a big deal, but i'll pretend like it's indicative of their views overall, where daryan's willing to let tiny things slide and where klavier pointedly won't. Bc it's about the principle of the thing.
i think klavier goes back to being a tightass. i think when he was 17 and looking like a little lesbian was probably the Coolest he ever was. idk what happened between then and canon that made him regress into being a kristoph 2 but it's fun to me if something did happen... i just don't care. probably not the disbarring? or i guess it could be. i dont CAREEE about him
all this to say, i really like thinking about a klavier looking back on daryan and wondering [what went wrong], because either something went wrong, or he had always been friends with an Evil Person. and for years he's just never noticed that daryan was Evil and capable of Murder and Covering up and Lying. and stuff.
which of course was a question he was already going through with kristoph, or maybe pointedly *not* going through? daryan is close to him but not as close as kristoph and the crimes weren't so fucking premeditated so it's maybe an easier entry point for this whole thought process for him. "your best friend botched a drug smuggling and snuffed a cop who was gonna rat him out" is a hard pill but not as hard a pill as "whatever the fuck kristoph was up to" NELKNDLKNGFD
And it's fun to think about... him trying to get answers from daryan directly. like tell me are you a bad person? are you? or like, what happened? and when did it change? and how long and why? and it's like. there isn't an answer! daryan doesn't have one! and it's just a shitty thing to ask. as if klavier's shattered sense of comfort is the real issue here and not "daryan is in prison for murder"NELKNDFKLN it's just fun... it's just fun... was it always you? or was it like, the system? who changed you? and daryan's so uncomfortable. and it pisses him off so bad.
i just like it. it's so cutie. two boys who thought they had such a sure view of the world realizing in the most simple of ways that Oh, No, it turns out we're all directly capable of crime in various shades of culpability and evilness can't be cleanly prescribed like that. and it was a deeply flawed and stupid way of viewing the world, especially if the person who told you that in the first place was one of the cruelest people either of you knew up to that point LIKEEE. messyyy lol. it's so cute.
Like like like daryan who already always had an aggressive demeanor and kind of rubbed people the wrong way but klavier always insisted he's an upstanding person and one of the people klavier trusted most ... someone who klavier probably had to defend a lot just in conversation. and it wasn't misplaced? like klavier wasn't lying! being an asshole isn't a crime and doesn't make someone evil. but in hindsight oh it's tainted foreverrrr.
also again the daryan who's watching klavier have this like internal crisis of faith and he's like can you do this elsewhere. Like i'm in prison right now i don't need thinLKNFKLDFNGKNDFG HELP

i think one of my favorite things about ritsu’s portrayal is how much his intelligence is an informed attribute to the audience- bc the show is from mobs pov! the audience sees ritsu as smart bc mob thinks very highly of him! and while we do see that ritsu is good at planning, problem solving, working within his limitations, and [lateral thinking? i don’t remember the word but like. knowing what he has available and how to make use of it], and he does get good grades, he’s also a character that we see fuck up a Lot and make a lot of bad judgement calls! (and that’s not even mentioning shit like suggesting mob could be a magician or thinking teru’s wig is his brain lmao)
it’s a more realistic take on an “intelligent” character than i see in a lot of other media and i like it a lot :)

Do you have any evidence whatsoever for the idea that plants have “complex thoughts and emotions” because I sure can’t find any…
This has absolutely nothing to do with the complaints i made in the tags of that one post but here we go anyway
okay so plants dont have COMPLEX thoughts and emotions, my bad for spreading misinformation on the internet, but they do feel sensations and communicate
If Wikipedia has an article on something that they dont immediately claim is false it's probably a thing with actual basis behind it. Just maybe.
The existence of consciousness in plants, as well as the ability to feel pain, is highly contested at the moment, and we probably wont actually KNOW as a species until well after i have passed away uncaring of self righteousness
Alana Scheltzer (who is cringe btw* but for unrelated reasons) wrote this for University of Melbourne back in 2017
But feelings are not consciousness. Not that plants need to be conscious for my argument against Pretention to stand but, regardless, these guys
Tumblr media
wrote this
for PMC back in 2021.
So plants dont have consciousness, whoop dee i was wrong. They still Feel and are Alive
And my entire tag rant was about, again, the pretentiousness of people who only pretend to care about something cause it makes them feel better about themselves and allows them to put down others, something i should've communicated better. There are better ways to go about animal rights activism than blaming other people. Maybe start actually putting pressure on corporations to treat farm animals better, just a suggestion. Maybe buy from sustainable farms that can prove they treat their land and livestock with respect and care. Maybe get off your fucking high horse and actually go out to protests or donate instead of sitting on your ass and being a twitter warrior.
and judging by the fact that you, tumblr user, sent this ask in anonymous mode: you probably dont care about what i have to say. just a thought. cowards dont use anon.
Sorry for the rant at the end, kind of. I'm sleep deprived and off my meds, not that that's an excuse. Just. Pretentious people who don't back up their words with actions piss me the FUCK off.
*cough* so anyway yeah plants dont have complex emotions but they do have an amount of thought and communication that is non-zero. i used a strawman cause i was mad. now go back up and read the rest of the post since i know you girlies scroll immediately to the bottom of shit longer than two paragraphs

yeah sure death to america and the american war machine but you all understand youre not actually doing anything by purposely setting off fireworks to trigger military vets? like i dont even get it. what does that even do. it doesnt do anything about the people they possibly hurt overseas, it doesn't help their victims, it doesn't even protest military action abroad. it's just a deliberately malicious action that serves to make someone's life less pleasant. i guess if that's what you wanna do, go you. but i just don't see how any of it does anything to combat american militarism. just seems like diet propaganda of the deed

oh boy it's that time again
when rachel posts 'video progress' of her work and we proceed to dissect it like a frog in 9th grade science class
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
like ok first the caption of "is persephone the chicken and hades the egg" makes no fucking sense except to anyone who overthinks it and goes "wait is that a reference to the popularly-perpetuated version of the myth where persephone went down to the underworld willingly and hades didn't actually exist???" because if it is ima scream lmao
but MORE IMPORTANTLY-
Here's the transcript of what she's saying in the video:
"I think I've always wanted to write Hades' and Persephone's story because obviously I really like them. It's like very much a chicken and egg situation because I think in the beginning I thought that I was going to use a very abstract black and white style, and I realized it wasn't very enticing or fun for me, um... and I started drawing these very like vibrant characters and as I drew them I understood more about the story the more that I explored the art style, um and I guess an example of that is, y'know, Persephone is like a very bright color um, and the Underworld, is a very dark dark blue, and so when she says she really sticks out so it's just environmental uh processes like that that really helped inspire the direction of the story."
(despite her expanding on the "chicken and the egg" bit it still doesn't make sense imo lmao)
But what we're seeing isn't S1 LO, it's actually from S3 of LO:
Tumblr media
But um... you notice anything interesting about the screenshot I just showed you?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
That literally looks NOTHING like what we see in the final panel. At the VERY least I think this goes to show how overcooked it becomes in post-production, when they add the canvas layer and hypersaturate the shit out of the colors, but even the blending technique just isn't matching up?
A lot of what she's doing in this video also feels very... non-existent, like she's brushing her pen around but very little is happening so it feels more like her just putting down random brush strokes to try and make it seem put-together but really she's just kind of pushing colors around and/or doing nothing. Especially when, again, what she's painting here looks nothing like the final picture (so at best it's a lot of wasted work??)
And knowing what we know about the assistants drawing the characters separately so that Rachel can rearrange them in the final episode layout... I don't wanna call foul play here, but this feels like yet another attempt on Rachel's behalf to make her process seem more involved than it is by simply redrawing a scene for the performative aspect of it all. It's like the "sketches" in the books looking way too 'clean' for the final product and giving the impression that she just sketched over the final panels to make them look pretty enough for print.
I also wanna mention that for some reason she's drawing this on her iPad when she owns a Cintiq. It could be because she was drawing this while abroad in the US for her conventions last fall, but despite clearly being ahead of schedule, she still wound up drawing the final episode the night of-
Tumblr media
Oh yeah and btw there are like a million clipping layers for what looks like just a simple drawing of Demeter. And this lines up with our previous theories about her using like 128549021809 layers for literally one character.
Tumblr media
And aside from all that her commentary, as always, is very nothingburger, just a bunch of word salad. Like she's literally trying to explain LO's color theory as "well Persephone is bright pink and the Underworld is dark blue so she sticks out! That's all you need to know!"
IDK, I'm not coming to any sort of ironclad conclusion based off this one video, but it does feel like yet another desperate attempt to prove that she does work on LO and doesn't just leave it all to her assistants to do at the last minute. But like... she's kind of screwed in that argument either way, because even if she draws the majority of panels in LO, that just further proves the argument that she's stopped trying.

Welllll, since it got brought up... Charcadet line shiny review?
Tumblr media
Charcadet: Everyone seems to agree that this line's shinies suck hard and... yeah, this line's shinies suck hard, all right. Swapping out the eye color and literally nothing else is just not noticeable enough compared to the original. The only positive thing I can say is that it does make sense conceptually to swap the eye color to reference the split evo's palettes, but they also could have, you know, just swapped the entire palette. I already made an edit of the official art a while ago for a post, so here you go:
Tumblr media
By swapping out the typical Armarouge-colored palette for a Ceruledge-colored one, you still reference the split evos and have a really good concept that's, you know, actually noticeable as a shiny. As is, it's a complete nothingburger of a design.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Armarouge and Ceruledge: Lumping both together because they both have the same problem, which is also the same problem as Ceruledge: changing only the eye color is boring and barely noticeable. It's even worse with these two because their eyes are small, and in Ceruledge's case, the red eye doesn't stick out at all because it blends in with the purples of its palette too much.
Honestly, they just had to swap the colors around again—make shiny Armarouge blue and purple and make shiny Ceruledge yellow and red. That's it. Simple, works conceptually, and would be easy to tell the two apart. I don't know why they insisted on not doing that; were they like, afraid that people would confuse the two if the shinies swapped their palettes or something? Because if that was the case, they also could've just changed the colors to something else entirely—make Ceruledge's body a ghostly white, make Armarouge's body a fiery orange, just do literally anything noticeable.
Overall: A very underwhelming shiny line that has a decent concept marred by the majority of the palette barely changing, making them indistinguishable from their non-shiny counterparts.

Okay, hold up, you know what? Since I’m at it, I also want to talk about the other big Elden Ring twt fandom discourse that makes absolutely zero sense in the context of the game other than the Good/Evil Miquella/Mohg debate, and that’s the Miquella x Radahn debate da da dummm
I want to preface by saying this is neither an anti nor pro miq/rad ship post. On the contrary, it’s a “it doesn’t even make sense to argue about it at all” post
Every time I see discourse or infighting about this topic (and there’s been a lot. Whole twt communities have cannibalized each other over it), I’m again floored that people think it warrants a debate. Like, genuinely and sincerely perplexed, and this is why:
The basis for the discourse relies on the premise that romantic and familial relationships, sex, and societal expectations in the Lands Between, necessarily mirror those things in reality. And…that entire premise is just…completely flawed and has been emphatically disproven by the source material.
Hot take, but I’m actually hard-pressed to believe that the act of sex even exists in the universe.
Here’s what the game tells us. It asserts that romantic love exists through the tale of Radagon and Rennala. It asserts that marriage exists, and that through marital union, children are conceived. This is where the similarities to reality ends. If we only had these facts to go on, the assumption that the mechanics mirror reality would be a reasonable one to make. But then the game goes all over the place and completely overturns our presumptions.
Let’s see, we have marital union that conceives children. Good. Okay, but also marital union between two selves in one body that conceives children… Oh, and also the conception of children that does not come from marital union at all, rather from the rotted battlefields of war between a brother and sister. Hm. We have a woman who sleeps with the dead, but “sleeping with” might not mean sex, oh, and she can also have a union with a corpse in game that conceives a child. Oh, but she also needs you and a bunch of other people to help conceive the child, which can later be placed over/in(?) the womb(?) of its grandmother/grandfather’s combined body, which then reconceives its father.
Can you see where I’m going with this? Depending on what angle you look at the game from, you could say it’s fraught with incest, selfcest, and necrophilia (also whatever the fuck is going on with Count Ymir). But this interpretation lacks soooo much nuance.
The thing of it is that we just don’t know how the demigods work. We don’t know the how, why, or even the if they have sexual relationships with each other in the way we’re familiar with. Your personal interpretation can be whatever you want and you literally cannot be proven wrong (or right!).
So why the hell do entire friendships get broken over whether you think twinkella wanted his brother’s gravity sword? Who knows? Who cares? You can headcanon anything you want.
People being morally performative over it is also just completely bizarre for the same reason. The relationship dynamics are between fictional gods, they literally and physically cannot be held to the same real life morals as you and I. The whole entire thing is the biggest nothingburger discourse of the fandom, and I bet the devs spent no more than five seconds considering that western fandom might be sending death threats over whether or not you like a little spice in your cosmic-god-rot-infested-golden-soup

thank u for the great posts! i'm curious what runfluencers you hate watch cause i might hate watch the same ones lol
ok i hate adam wood and its honestly only 50% because of the mormonism thing, the other 50% is because of how many of his videos are him pretending to bemoan how thin he is so he can put his thinness on display so he gets clicks AKSJDKSJ who else. i have positive feelings toward allie ostrander as a person but it's soooo obvious she has in no way 'recovered' and her vids are so annoying when that comes up. esp since she took those race nutritions sponsorships or whatever lol. theres one called like the running channel that always does the most nothingburger ass videos like zero information you don't already know from reading the first google result. so many annoying ass ultra runners acting like they have secret injury prevention tips rather than just being extremely lucky to have recovered from all the injuries they accrue literally in every single event they do. göran winblad is annoying the way that like the science dude chefs are annoying but some of his vids are actually good so i do watch him sometimes. oh i hatewatch mark lewis all the time god hes so annoying. people who use the phrase fitness journey should be shot and triple if they're former fat people who just fucking hate themselves and are making it everyone else's problem. ummm. anyone who name checks david goggins, hate that. phily bowden is getting kinda egregious with the clickbait titles but she's a nice enough person i forgive her what the algo must make her do. also sometimes i do watch those commentary drama channels and they're always sooo stupid and disappointing even when the scandal is good because again. they don't do any actual research or make any novel arguments so you are basically just watching someone read tweets out loud to you

Favorite thing about starstruck?
Oh my GOD about a million and one things so I'm gonna try and zone in on the main point for me
I know that @neurotonic has talked it before and I think I've also spoken about it (AND it's also in Five Star Feature by @stellar-collective ) but SHHH it's genuinely like the source of the appeal of the dynamic for me. This being the whole "falling for an average joe" thing on Juniper's side.
Taking you on a little (personal?) history lesson of this ship, for AGES it was a nothingburger ship, only since like last year has it gained ANY traction, and the main source of content for it was me talking to my two friends, so I am DEEP into personal interpretation here. Alas, the early days of being into the ship, a big part of the reason that I started considering the ship was Reggie seemingly being so so smitten by Juniper, and thinking about how that dynamic would work post-canon (Remember, this is pre-IEYTD 3, so really so the fandom was both smaller AND anything post IEYTD 2's elevator crash was free game PLUS people were equally adamant that JJ wasn't/isn't dead). I actually met @bugtoast through beta reading his fic where JJ & Reggie teamed up to find a missing Phoenix, and while that fic wasn't a ship fic, it WAS what got me started thinking about it. This is because the two were suddenly on equal ground in which Reggie had a reason to really, REALLY hate Juniper, and a reason for Juniper to feel really, REALLY guilty/humbled. And so THIS lead to (across. Years of thinking about them on and off) my current personal favourite AU/dynamic for them!!
Just to get some stuff out the way (I've talked abt it before but ehhhhh), I've always headcanoned both Reggie and Juni as queer, and both as gay pretty solidly for a while now. Juniper definitely more repressed than Reggie (I personally love @operationjetset 's interpretation/comic on Juniper's queerness, literally made my jaw drop), and that plays a little into how I see the dynamic especially considering the time period and it exists in (late 60s (specifically 67/68 if we consider IEYTD 3)).
Basically, what really scratches my brain about the dynamic is Juniper ending up hopelessly smitten with Reggie, and Reggie having none of it, at least for a while, because. Well. A lot of reasons but mainly the whole trying to kill his agent and nuking the world, but also the personal (if parasocial) element of how Reggie used to adore Juniper, and him turning to hatred once he found out JJ was working for Zor as almost a defense mechanism to stop himself from falling back into that adoration. This of course turns into basically a complete role reversal! Yes there's differences as Reggie having a bit of a celebrity crush isn't as bad as Juniper literally having a sexuality crisis over having a crush on Crane BUT FUNDAMENTALLY it's the opposite thing.
This ends up working out REALLY well because it leads into a storyline where you can really cleanly give Juniper a redemption arc because he wants to be a better person so Reggie will at least LIKE him as a person again. Not for his stardom, not for his charisma, but for just being some dude. And Reggie is a good man, because while he knows that there's no obligation to like and especially not trust Juniper again, he can tell Juniper is trying to work on himself and he appreciates that.
And from there, once they start building up a genuine friendship with one another, THAT'S when I can see them stumbling into becoming partners, because for them I feel like it would just be a natural progression of their friendship (especially once JJ got through his internalised homophobia and such). I definitely feel like they would have weird dates, partially down to the time period, partially down to Reggie's odd and specific interests (SLAPS ROOF OF MY CORN HUSKING FANFIC), but I think Juniper would appriciate the really mundane nature of Crane's hobbies and Crane would enjoy having someone who was interested in doing his hobbies with them.
I think after typing this out I think I also like this ship because I see a lot of their dynamic as almost transactional? It's hard to explain but there's a lot of equality in how I feel they'd treat one another. An example would be yk Juniper indulging Reggie in his corn husking hobby (what a sentence), and then Reggie indulging in something like dancing with JJ. I can't quite explain it but yeah. Yeah they love doing hobbies together because they love existing together.
To summarise all of this, I just really like the whole idea of Juniper becoming a better person because he wants to be a better person for Reggie. ESPECIALLY if it comes with a side of not realising it at first. Goodlord I love them
