If I were given the choice to either remain aro or become alloro again, I would choose aromanticism.

“Curly deserved better” “curly deserved so much more” “curly didn’t deserve what happened to him”
No no no no that’s the POINT. Curly is just as bad as Jimmy. He let so many of the giant red flags that tumbled out of Jimmy’s mouth slide. He was told multiple times about the abuse Jimmy was inflicting on Anya. He ignored Anya even when she pushed so far as to hide the gun on the ship bc she genuinely feared what Jimmy would do to her. Curly heard it all- saw it all- and he chose to do nothing. He had every opportunity to intervene before the crash but he didn’t. He chose not to. He blathered on and on about responsibility, about his willingness to do anything for his crew, but when they needed him most he did nothing. He just stood there and watched and let it happen.
And now he can’t do anything. He has lost the ability to make that choice. He physically can’t intervene now. His chance to change things and take responsibility has passed him by. Now, he has to just sit there and watch how the mask formed from all those red flags he so willfully ignored peels away and reveals the monster that was always there beside him. Now, he has to just sit there and watch as one by one, Jimmy manipulates and drives each and every one of the people that he swore up and down he would protect to the very edge, and kills them. Now, he just has to sit there and watch as Jimmy justifies each of his actions by blaming everyone else for the situation he put them in- the situation that Curly allowed him to put them in. He has to sit there and watch as Jimmy does everything in his power to create a palatable, sanitized narrative of what happened all so he can cover up what he was doing.
And Curly chose to stand there passively and allowed all of it until he physically didn’t have a choice anymore.
And in the end, Curly is the only one left to tell the story. The story of how it was all his responsibility, how he was supposed to do anything for his crew. And now, it’s all his fault because he couldn’t do just one thing. He has to live with that fact for the rest of his life. He has to live with the fact that his willful ignorance, his choice not to act, cost four people their lives. He will live with those physical and mental scars forever. But even worse, he has to live knowing that that’s the truth. And that in some cruel, twisted way, Jimmy was right.
The truth doesn’t really get rid of that awful taste in your mouth though, does it?

THE COMPANY WENT UNDER ANYWAY. By the way I’ve had this “mha definitely doesn’t have that much planning in long-term and horikoshi just makes it up as he goes, and that creates contradictory story beats like… all the issues with the ‘saving’ villains plot” idea of a post in my head for YEARS PLURAL and um. Does. Does now seem like a good time to write it?

It's deeply important to me that Loop kind of sucks
#they are literally awesome but they do kinda suck. just a tad#mostly as in i keep thinking about lucabyte's comics. they are critical to me#i love isat's postcanon as a space to explore recovery and communication#but sometimes you kind of have to drag urself through glass to get there. sometimes the glass sticks in ur skin and makes u prickly#i think constantly about like. loop being surprised by siffrin's kindness if u choose to be nice to them in certain dialogue options.#remarking about how time has made them jaded more than he is#loop is fundamentally kind. but they are scantly ever 'nice'#i think if loop joins the party it's inevitable that they are going to make each other bristle up#loop has a difficult time with all of the party members. between the guilt and the loss and them just not being capital s Siffrin#and to the party who only knows loop from one interaction and siffrin's apparent care for them i think loop would come off. abrasive at bes#like. like i dont think loop would act the same with the party that they do siffrin. their mask is very Piss Siffrin Off specialized#but how much of ur persona is an act and how much of it is yourself. or whatever. loop wouldn't want to be mean to their friends sure#but it's much easier not to hurt if you wedge some distance. no better way to get that distance by being offputting. i think isabeau esp#would get the brunt of this. poor man#plus there's just hte general fact that like. nobody likes the feeling of talking to somebody who clearly knows too much about them. who#will never show their own cards. added with the fact that there's just an inherent strangeness w loop. where they have a relationship to#siffrin thru the loops that none of the party members will ever grasp (and in a way they cant even guess frankly!)#i just have a hard time seeing loop's assimilation into the party as going smooth and nice. you know. i think the party members would think#that loop kinda sucks a little. i think loop would let them think this. all of this being said this is not irreconcilable or permanent#but i like there to be growing pains for the party's expansion. i won't even get into nille bc this aint abt her but yah#the lucky thing loop is you made friends with a lot of really nice people who would being willing to get to know you again.#isat spoilers

Honestly Rayla is equally 100% ride or die for Callum too.
That's so true I almost mentioned it in that post. They're so ridiculously feral for each other it's hilarious to watch. Callum's the legitimate "we ride AND die together" whereas Rayla is the "I will ride and die FOR you" sort of deal yknow?
Could be literally any situation, no matter how dangerous, and she's already decided she will die here. Does it ensure Callum lives? Then batter-up buckeroo we're going in swords blazing! Everyone cheer and clap for her human or she'll blow this whole place up. Kinda person who says "even if you hate me I'd still lose everything if it meant you were okay". She thinks they're in a tragic love story where she's always at risk of losing him but that's okay as long as it keeps him safe and happy like y'know Viren parallels, she'd risk losing her very self for him over and over. Except Callum would wait until the end of the world itself, and even beyond, and she wouldn't even have to ask.
The difference between them, really, is that Rayla will die for Callum on any given day. Callum will kill for Rayla on any given day. Something something matching sets

Controversial opinion: I don’t really count Cleo’s win as a full win, LIKE LISTEN I REALLY WANTED HER TO WIN, but Real Life is like a half win or something.
People always act like this opinion is an attack on Cleo and all that but like, you’re saying Real Life counts as a regular win like any other? So, if next season Cleo makes it really far, she should give up so someone new can get a win? You think she should say “I already won a season someone else deserves this more”? Like idk, to me counting Real Life as a full win feels like saying you don’t believe Cleo could get a win in a legit season so you want to count this one. And I don’t think that’s fair. Cleo doesn’t place very high on average but anyone can win. I think her winning Real Life is proof that she’s getting closer to a real win, like how Jimmy dying near the middle is proof that he could fully break the curse. I don’t count either of those as fully winning/breaking the curse but I see it as like. Half points. But apparently this opinion makes me a Cleo hater who doesn’t want to see her succeed. Idk it just feels like secretly thinking she isn’t capable of a real win, of course I don’t assume the worst of people like that, but like, that’s why I can’t subscribe to the opinion that RL was a win like all the others. I would’ve said it wasn’t a real win no matter WHO won, changing my mind just because it’s a woman feels like backwards feminism to me lmao.
I mean I’m going to assume that most people who say this aren’t doing that and would’ve said that it counts as a Real Win no matter who won? But if not then plz think about that lol. But like. i got covid the moment the new hxh chapter dropped and i have zero energy for anything, let alone going into fandom. fuck my life. i turned on my comp for the first time in what 3 days... idk, i need to send one thing and then i will likely turn it off again. i will have to look through the tag when my focus and reading comprehension will be better than that of a dead worm.

Your post about misogynistic/patriarchal women really resonated with me and I empathize SO much girl I would be rich if I had a dollar for every single time i’ve seen a woman say some variant or another of “women are WAY worse than men!!!!” and wholeheartedly mean it. It ESPECIALLY makes me feel like the Joker when I see women who by all means carry themselves as feminist/progressive say shit like “misogynistic women are way worse than misogynistic men!!!” or some other misogynistic gaslighty bullshit that came straight from the ancient misogyny playbook.
I wish there was more of us having the space and drive to criticize our own sex class’ actions in a fair and just way without carrying the guilt of how our sex class is treated & without also following the subconscious path of least resistance (woman bad, man good). I wish there were more outlets for us to just be so fucking for real with each other, but in the way of respect, maturity, empathy, dignity, and accountability. I wish we all had more self awareness about the patterns we perpetuate.
It sucks when you not only have to cope with 50% of the population automatically hating you because of the morally neutral biological sex you happened to develop as in the womb, but you also have to deal with the members of your OWN sex perpetuating the cycles of subjugation and working against their own interests on top of that because of how deeply the knife of misogyny is plunged into our stomachs. As an individual girl/woman in the world, you have to incessantly deal with and mentally prepare for the indiscriminate bombardment of misogyny that is almost guaranteed to sneak up on you from every single direction possible. Feeling like you have close to no true allies, or only very few of them on a global scale. It’s a brutal, harrowing feeling.
It definitely gave me more insight into how the human mind copes with pain and injustice in bizarre and miserable ways, I guess. #one note i was on tiktok this morning#and saw a tiktok of a guy who was like idk fucking 40 or something and hes like showing his house which is still like#decorated like a college guy apartment like he ued a hockey stick as a curtain rod for example#and he was being self deprecating but clearly thought it was more charming than embarrassing#but anyway his voiceover is like 'guys if youre in your twenties and have a girlfriend lock that down and marry her or you'll end up like m#and it was so annoying cause like first of all male no one is forcing you to live like this. you could choose to live like an adult even#though you thankfully dont have a mommy--sorry a wife#second its so annoying that hes like telling other guys hey be sure to marry a girl so she can do all these adult things that you dont want#to do#but finally#the reason im sharing this here#is because there were soooooo many comments from women being like 'dont worry! youre some womans cup of tea! just keep looking'#or like 'wheres the green flag guy?' referncing a guy i guess on tiktok who like takes note of green flag male behavior#to be fai there were other women in the comments saying like thank god you aren't married. no woman should have to deal with this#i just hate when women baby men

What do you think about fics that cater to a specific physique? I wanted to read them (their premise sounds great!) but couldn’t bring myself to because I don’t fit the description of the physical attributes
in terms of what you should do if you think you can’t consume that content, here’s my advice:
i think that’s fine to consume that content if you don’t fit the description in most cases. like for example, if you’re skinny but the fic is catered towards plus size readers, go ahead! the general consensus is that anyone can enjoy those fics at the end of the day.
when it comes to fics that are more catered to black/poc readers, i’ve heard that some authors prefer for white/non-poc to not interact with that content, which is completely understandable! in other cases, i’ve heard that any and all interact is good because it helps spread their work and also reach more black/poc readers!
so what i would do in that case is ask the author what they prefer :)
now if you’re asking in regards to feeling like you can’t enjoy them because you don’t fit their description, do you mean like the description is catered towards black or fat people? or is it catered to skinny and white 😭 my answer depends on the case bc if it’s the first thing, then i would just read the many other fics that aren’t written with black descriptors in mind. if it’s the second, then i’m really really sorry you can’t read those things :( i do try my best to make sure my works are inclusive and can encompass all skin colors, hair types, body types, etc etc. also, if you go to my tag “#glossysrecs 🎀”, those fic recs should all be inclusive <3

saw a dracula daily post saying it was like a timeloop story the way people were reading it year after year and the characters were going through The Horrors again and again the same way as before, and the post asked which dracula character would be the one who knows about the timeloop and tries to break it, and i would like to submit for consideration that none of them know about it because WE are the ones who know
#my post#like okay obviously first of all dracula isnt a timeloop story and to look at it that way is just meta and not canon or what stoker intende#but i think it's pretty cool meta so i want to explore it for a second#and if we stick with the concept of ''my friend jonathan is emailing me!'' that puts us into the story! we know jonathan!#we are the ones free from the time loop but we also know that we can't ever break it bc that's the nature of stories#our good friend jonathan is doomed to go through the horrors every year and we know this but can only watch#bc while making jonathan into our dear friend inserts us into the story in a way#we are obviously still Not Actually IN the story and are doomed to watch from the outside as everything goes wrong again#this isn't like. a deep and insightful take or anything and i'm aware of that#it's literally just the nature of stories#but i thought that adding the timeloop layer on top made something interesting and this is my house so i get to post whatever i want#if you look at it as a timeloop then we're dooming our good friend jonathan to the horrors year after year by choosing to read the book#again and again#if you were wondering the original post i saw concluded that quincey was the one who would be aware of the time loop#dracula daily

Time for me to be completely changed as a person! *just watched falsettos*
#the klock keeps ticking#oh dude we’re so back oh its so back#how am i supposed to live my life after this how am i supposed to go on#its funny cuz ive seen this damn show actually a thousand times i know it forward and backwards#and i dont really cry ever in general and ive become so familiar with falsettos that i dont cry anymore#but it still has the ability to destroy some deep part of me every single time in a new way#I will stay firm in my belief that its the greatest piece of media ever made#if i ever get to see falsettos on broadway (pipe dream ik) like#thatd be it for me man like how the hell are you supposed to leave and drive home after that akdnsk#i cant remember the last time i watched either i think it mightve been like. when i first moved into my old apartment 😳#and ive gone through quite a bit of shit since then and im smarter. i think#so yeah it hit me very hard this time i always stick to something different#im very much wrecked about this fucking family lets just say that#lets just say ‘shes cooked for some 200 guests i know we’re not that many actually we’re 7’#really hit different this time KID DO YOU KNOW HOW PROUD I AM#DONT KNOW WHY BUT HE LOOKS LIKE MARVIN#so so good so lovingly written and performed so real and beautiful and tragic FUCKKKK#yeah basically prepare for me to write like 50 essays for a few days about all the characters every song every lyric every sound yeah#falsettos is probably deadass the reason im like this it shaped me so much#just like. the ending of tragedy that was so unexpected and unfair#and it looks at the fucking homophobic shits who preached all about this being just desserts for the perverted behavior#and it says ‘this man could’ve kept that unhappy heterosexual life and avoided all of this but he chose the one that killed him because#it made him feel like himself it made him happy despite how brief it was and hed choose this route in every universe’#just a piece of art that is so true to queerness i dont think anything else has instilled a sense of pride in me like falsettos has#the tight knit family marvin tries so hard to keep together is falling apart worse and worse with each attempt#but once marvin is happy and loves himself and is loved by others the family ends up growing and sticking together naturally#aaughhh yeah ahahaha yeah man everyone please love your friends so genuinely love yourself and keep going 🥰
