Now, I won't lie. In this particular quintet, Crystal and Sersi ARE the ones with all the power to throw around. That, however is not an excuse to underestimate Hercules, The Black Knight and goddamn Captain America. Captain America 399

Despite basically playing the same character as Kurse, Djimon Hounsou's Korath the Pursuer winds up being a lot more memorable. I think it's the vocal performance.
Hounsou delivers every line at the top of his lungs. He emotes so hard, even at things you'd expect to be understated like being confused by the name Star-Lord. Instead of a "Huh?' we get, "WHO!?!?"
Hounsou chews every ounce of scenery, and it gives his minor and ultimately shallow role something to stick out in the memory. Kurse is practically indistinguishable from Malekith's grunts. But you remember Korath, at least a little.

What If...? Is about "could it", not "would it"
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I think T'Challa's episode would have made for a much better premiere because it gets that concept across much better.
The two episodes so far have had some weird things. Peggy feels stronger than Steve ever was until Mjolnir, it feels weird that the plot of TFA pretty much just happened again despite this big change, Steve wearing the HYDRA Stomper made by Howard feels a bit contrived, T'Challa goes by Star-Lord even though that was personally given to Peter by his mom so it doesn't make tons of sense it's there, T'Challa convincing Thanos to become good is potentially a stretch given what we have seen, just all the ravagers being cool now, the Collector and the Black Order is all just kinda zany, and so much more. Things that all happen that kinda stretch what we as the audience think would happen given the change we are presented.
But when I see it through the lens of "could it happen" instead of "would it", this becomes so much more fun! None of those things listed above are impossible, so it really feels like the story writers are more trying to have fun with it and create as fun of stories as possible. If it COULD happen they'll do it. Now I think Episode 2 does this a lot better than 1 and should have been the premiere, but I still really love both episodes
It feels like the creators are kids making up their own stories with their action figures and it's just been so much fun! Also, these tongue and cheek lines continue to kill me

Watched the second episode of “What If...?” again. I think we should talk more about what a good voice actor Djimon Hounsou is. Korath is suddenly so much fun. Guy’s got range.

MCOC Wishlist Contributor The Big Wazowski Part 2: Tragicians
As we move out of the basement, TBW’s additions become recognizable as “that guy the thing happened to,” like the misogynist emperor bested by women, the guy who got Drax-ed, that Quake boyfriend sacrifice, the last Kree standing, and that sad Dormammu pawn guy

Have you ever noticed how Korath looked at Yon-Rogg when he said no to Vers? I think that sums up how he doesn't usually say no to her. Stay safe!!!💕😊
It was actually @judelaw who noticed that Korath literally does a double-take when Yon says 'No' to Vers' suggestion to go in alone. (I'm gonna reblog a gifset she made almost a year ago)
And yeah everyone on the team knows she has his number which is why Korath is shook, because typically even when Vers is in the wrong, Yon tells him to shut up xD
(thank you, you too <3)
