I have officially begun the Plo Koon Study akin to Castis Vakarian's Turian Study [6]. The Turian study isn't on hold, but I'm going to juggle all the daddies in a not so fixed schedule lol.
As I am sickly-stressy-depressy, I figured giving myself a treat in the form of my very hot husband / emotional support king, Plo Koon.

So, I'm going to be the one that makes the post on Payneland and parallels to other couples/relationships, aren't I?
Sigh...I guess here we go. Spoilers, obviously. So if you haven't watched Dead Boy Detectives, go watch it and return to this post!
Believe it or not, there is more than one relationship to which I can compare the Edwin/Charles dynamic.
These couples include Destiel (Supernatural), Malec (Shadowhunters), and Solangelo (PJO).
So let's start with the Charles parallels.
We are introduced in Episodes 3 & 4 to the fact that Charles went through some serious physical abuse. His father had high expectations for him, and when he didn't match those expectations, he took his anger out on Charles. This gives reason as to why Charles's anger comes out in the form of protection because he was never protected from that abuse, and he doesn't want anyone else to experience the same type of hurt he did.
Not only does this remind me of Dean Winchester, but of Magnus Bane. Both were raised by men who were quite angry and abusive in their own ways. Yet these characters are known for their care and love of other people. Dean's entire job is saving people, Magnus' job is helping people with his magic abilities, and we already know Charles's job of helping ghosts solve their mysteries to cross over. All these characters wish to be better (while holding themselves to very high standards) and care more for everyone else than themselves.
So where do the Edwin parallels come into these pairings?
When Edwin was alive, we see that he was a loner, often ridiculed and ostracized by his peers for being a 'Mary Anne'. This puts us into the discussion of how and why it takes a cat king and a crow to help him figure out his sexuality; he merely doesn't realize his feelings because they were never needed during both his time alive and in hell. I'm going to assume that he didn't keep up with politics and popular culture once he got out, so he really was just unaware of what society became, and that's why Niko had to tell him.
This very much fits my comparison to Castiel, his brethren looking down on him because he had 'too much heart'; he began to care more heavily once he was introduced to Dean, but everyone believed he 'came off the line with a crack in his chassis'. I've always thought this was heavily queer-coded. Edwin and Castiel have the similarities of being adorably clueless when it comes to human modern-day communication and needing help in navigating relationships. The comparison I'll make to Alec is that he was also raised in quite a hostile environment. He was forgotten, and looked at as a second choice to his brother Jace before Magnus took notice of him. Alec is another character who goes through a self-discovery journey in which he's adamant that he doesn't need a relationship or feelings to do what needs to be done; he rather be all work.
Now let's get to Solangelo parallels.
Edwin and Nico are both placed out of time, stuck in places for decades until the world has changed around them so drastically they don't recognize it anymore. They both go to Hell/Tartarus and have to find their own ways out. They are both ultimately kind even though they have been hurt by the world, again ostracized and seen as outsiders. They do what must be done to save that which they care about most and, ultimately, torture themselves over their feelings.
Charles and Will are the blinding light that leads their respective partner out of the darkness in more ways than one. They make the choice to stick around their person even though Edwin/Nico thinks they are better off on their own, but Charles/Will pushes to stay with them, not out of duty but because they want to. They try to get their partners out of their comfort zone and remind them to not take everything so seriously all the time.
Now the Hell parallels. One partner always goes to Hell, and the other follows; it does not always perfectly align but stay with me.
Dean goes to Hell, and Castiel fetches him and brings him back to Earth, but Castiel is the one who is more changed by the experience. "When Castiel first laid a hand on you in Hell, he was lost." This could also parallel Edwin and Charles meeting for the first time. Castiel and Charles both choose to stay with the person who changed/was kind to them.
Again, the parallels don't perfectly align with Malec but Edwin goes to hell, as Magnus goes to Edom, albeit Magnus goes willingly, he can’t escape. Charles follows, as does Alec. And neither leave without their other half.
Same with Solangelo, Nico goes into Tartarus, and Will follows because he isn't going to let Nico experience it by himself for a second time.
My point to this post is that these are common tropes that go along the lines of 'Do not go where I can not follow'. Both people in the relationship are so devoted to each other that they are broken when they are apart and are willing to go to the ends of the earth to get them back.
If there are any other parallels/things I missed, please add to this post!

Abt casty being studied in the lab,do the lab has any morals of "we're doing this for the greater good" or is it just "lets fuck around and find out: no anesthesia edition"
Nah the lab is just fucking around. It also ends up being a sort of secret death row for most kingdoms, so the vast majority of the people who end up at that lab are criminals. The general populace don't even know about the lab's existence, as it's on some remote islands in the middle of the sea.
So the data gathered, and all the organs harvested from the dead, are shared with all participating kingdoms and likely used for good, the people there are not given any kind of comfort because they're there as punishment. Castys was the Pirate King when he was captured, but honestly the lab would have caught him even if he wasn't. They study "interesting" people on the DL ✨ but those are a rare occurance
#wow an ask#catnykit#canahi lore#thanks! sorry if this was a bit more than you asked for but everyone seems to like lore so here#the lab is called Saika#castys is the first test subject in the lad and they take over the pirate islands to build their shit

who from the main cast do you think will have the most successful post ST career?
Very interesting!! Now, I don't know all of the cast's careers equally as thorough, but these are my thoughts from what I do know. Would love to hear other's takes as well to fill in where I might not know the cast as well! I'm going to do the older teens and the party. In no particular order:
Finn - Already a huge star. I think he'll continue to be successful if he stays acting, but I do see him stepping more into directing/writing maybe. And working on his lil indie music hobby. If he acts more, maybe he'll take a role here or there, and I hope he takes more interesting things as he gets older (not that he's been in a string of duds, but I'd hope he branches out into something fresh and not another IP style franchise media immediately). A while ago I remember talking about him maybe doing a cool period piece or a retro comedy movie. I wish he was a lead in the SNL movie, I think that's his sweet spot. I think he's going to be very successful and remain publicly in the industry. I will be following his career the most out of everyone here so, admitted bias.
Noah - very difficult to say at this point. I think it depends on if he decides to continue school, lean into his entrepreneurship and business ventures. He's a very good actor, but I really don't know what kind of roles he's actually looking to take. I think he's said he's more interested in drama movies and I know this is a little type-casty, but I would adore if he becomes a new scream king. Dramatic horror/thrillers but quality, smaller films. I'd love for him to lead an era of queer horror films but I honestly don't really think that's what he'd be into, as much as I personally would love that. He has the range though! It's really hard to say how good of an acting career he'll have because I have to be honest - if he curates his craft he could find a lot of success but I can also see him fading a bit in the acting world and please don't get upset with me for that!! It's just an analysis of the career he's had so far and the crossroads he'll face once the series is over if his role choices are off. An honest read.
Millie - She's gonna have kids with baby Jovi and sell her skincare and ghostwrite shitty books. JK JK sorry for the shade, I'm just not a Millie fan haha oops. But I'm super not sure about her. She's a huge celebrity with a huge fanbase, but now that her Netflix contract is up, right?? Is she marketable and good enough of an actress to land lead roles in things? I think she's going to have a few big roles and those movies will be critically panned and she'll fade away for a bit, and then a decade or so later after a huge flop she'll land something surprising and fall into the spotlight again, but only for a little while. I could be wrong and misunderstand the Millie effect, bit that's how I feel.
Caleb - I feel like he's got talent, he's going to get a steady stream of work in film and other campaigns. He has the makings of being a really good dramatic actor when he's a little older, we'll have to wait and see. But he has the low-key acting chops and needs a little more meat on his resume. He's got promise.
Gaten - I don't know much about him and I love him but I also share the same worries that he himself has expressed in interviews I believe. Nerves about the future after the show. I see him more in television over movies. I don't actually know much about broadway so I'm not sure what his career there was like or if he could break back in. Big difference between child actors on bway and adult acting if I would guess correctly.
Sadie - Promising career, I feel like she could be up for the awards show circuit if she lands decent roles in the future. She could have an Emma Stone type career. Depends on the right roles. But I think she'll have longevity in the industry. Interesting, pretty redheads with dramatic acting chops and high fashion leanings tend to have the potential to go really far.
Charlie and Natalia - I'm putting them on the same page because I equally don't know much about them and I think they'll equally get the same amount of work. I think they're just kinda fucking around and traipsing lazily through Hollywood. Unsure. They're so weird. But, good for them?
Joe Keery - I don't know much about this man and I always refer to him by his full name for some reason. He's a singer? No idea the popularity level there, wasn't my type of music so I never looked too deep into it. No idea what he does outside of Stranger Things. He is an enigma but not one that captivates me. (I have nothing against him I just never really felt an interest in him as an actor even if I really do like Steve).
Maya - Well, she's industry famous already, she'll have a career as long as she wants it. She'll have steady work, unsure how big she'll be. But I think it's as big as she wants it to be personally, what type of projects she wants to work on. I think she's one of the better young actors in the cast. She's probably the one with the most choice in terms of future career.
#tell me if I'm right or wrong here. I don't know a lot of these people too deeply out of Stranger Things#I'm not as in the loop with celebrity stuff as I used to be.#asks

I'm still into the idea of putting the husbands together for tea time. I really think there'd be some interesting talks happening between Plo Koon, Castis Vakarian, and Elias Ainsworth. I'd throw in Jango, but mans not into socializing because he a busy king.
Cause in that table you have Plo who has a tempered form of attachment, Castis and his emotionally detached existence, and Ains who just doesn't fully understand emotions just quite yet.
I think Plo would be very good in articulating what emotions are and controlling them to Elias, Castis could also learn a few things to loosen up a little, and Plo — Nothing, he's perfect.
I'm pretty sure Plo is not above breaking a few rules, but he may want to take a few notes from Elias and idk, scorch earth for me? JUST SAYIN' PLO.
Or maybe do a swap role / outfit / power.
I would froth if Plo could whip out thorns, Castis dealing not with biotics but more of some ancient magic, and come on — Give Ains a rifle and let him go pew pew pew pew pew pew pew!

Castile, Currency, and Finance
Princess Isabella seized the throne on December 1474. At the time, Castile was crime-ridden, incapacitated by brewing civil war, and above all, royally bankrupt.

A key to understanding the disaster left behind by Henry IV’s reign (1454-1474) is to grasp the idea that the monetary unit (maravedies or mrs) lost value against its coinage. When her half-brother ascended the throne, earning 15 mrs was worth a silver coin (real), while 150 mrs was a gold coin (ducado). When he died, 31 mrs acquired only 1 silver coin, 340 mrs only 1 gold coin.
Simply put, if you were a peasant, you had to double your salary in twenty years just to maintain your quality of life. There’s famine and grain hoarding? Your food expenses are now randomly tenfold. Oh, also good luck with plagues, rampant crime, civil war, and that nobleman raiding your village to compensate his losses due to inflation.
I should also emphasize that the Castilian treasury lost income at the same time maravedies lost their value (80,000,000 mrs being worth 533,333 gold coins, reduced now to 73,250,000 mrs being worth just 215,441 gold coins). Oh, also half of all towns and cities were loyal to Juana la Beltraneja, so Isabella likely lost that half of her already-diminished revenue. Oh, sorry Ferdinand and Isabella, also you cannot debase your coins to gain 50% more money like Henry did during civil wars and crusades.

Ferdinand and Isabella would go on to almost quadruple royal income while doggedly maintaining the value of Castilian currency despite multiple wars.
The policy regarding Castilian coinage was finally resolved in the 1497 Pragmatic of Medina del Campo, wherein the king and queen fully renounced profits from minting for the sake of monetary stability, as well as introducing multiple denominations of the reales. It is here that the real de ocho (piece of eight, eight-reales, or the Spanish dollar) first appears.
The Pragmatic of Medina del Campo was one of the best-timed monetary reforms ever made. Spain could not have foreseen the impending inflow of bullion which would only happen fifty years later, yet Ferdinand and Isabella reformed their minting in a manner that prepared for it…Spain was fully equipped and prepared to increase production of the silver real. How far did the real spread as an accepted currency?
The Chinese came to trust the eight-reales to the extent that they would not accept substitutes even if those coins' weight and value exactly equaled that of the real. In the Western Hemisphere, the real dominated as the primary currency in all of the American Continents. In the English Colonies, despite the official currency, most coin payments were made in reales. For 40 years, from 1783 to 1825, the Australian colony could only rely on Spanish dollars due to the mercantilist policy set by Britain. After American independence, Congress "declared the Spanish dollar to be the ideal monetary unit for the United States.”
The Spanish dollar was the coin upon which the original United States dollar was based. Because it was widely used in Europe, the Americas, and the Far East, it became the first world currency…Several other currencies, such as the the Chinese yuan, the Japanese yen, the Canadian dollar, the Philippine peso, among others, were initially based on the Spanish dollar and other 8-real coins. Diverse theories link the origin of the "$" symbol to the columns and stripes that appear on one side of the Spanish dollar.
The US dollars is now the monetary standard upon which the world spins. Imagine its direct inspiration, the Spanish dollars, doing the same for 300 years, the enormity of centuries.
Isabella of Castile came to the throne confronted by fiscal insolvency, hyperinflation, and foreign invasion. I like to imagine her flipping the first Spanish dollar, never realizing how her coin will dictate every corner of the earth.
