being ot7 personal blood bank.
the boys feed on you whenever they need a recharge.
except for jungwon, sunoo and ni-ki
since those three are freshly turned (all being within the past 2 months) they are using blood bags as they cannot contain their thirst, just yet on a human.

you were studying for an upcoming test at the university library when you felt a tap on your shoulder.
from your studymates reactions, you knew it had to be one of the boys.
you looked up, and jake stared at you with a smile. “can i talk to you for a bit?”
you nodded telling the table quietly, that you’ll be back. you followed jake to a back corner of the library.
“i need to feed.” he said.
“now?” you looked around. “jake this better not be a ploy to get in between my legs. we are at the library and i need to study.”
jake frowned. bingo. “fine, but i really do need to feed.”
you sighed. “fine, but not here.”
“already taken care of, follow me.” jake grabbed your hand and led you to a women’s bathroom that had a “not working,” sign.
“did you put that up?” you asked as he drug you into the bathroom, setting you on the clean, bathroom counter.
jake smirked. “yes. but i knew you wouldn’t let me feed unless we were somewhere private.”
“yeah because a public restroom in a library filled with university students is private.” you rambled.
all while rambling, jake stared at you with adoration. “are you done?”
you huffed then nodded.
“good,” jake took a look at your clothing choice. sweatshirt, leggings, and comfy shoes. “wish you were wearing a skirt with a little more access,”
“jake, it’s chilly outside.” not like he would notice.
he began pulling down your leggings, leaving your underwear on. he took off your shoes before your leggings, then placed your leggings in your hands.
“to bite on.” he said and you nodded.
jake leaned down in front of your center and kissed the tender spot of your inner thigh. his favorite place to feed.
each of the 4 older boys had their favorite place to feed, and soon jungwon would too.
jake gave the spot a few licks and sucks like he was numbing the area. “jake,” you warned the boy. he looked up at you innocently with a sparkle in his eye.
“fine.” he pouted. soon, his eyes changed and his fangs came out. bracing yourself, you put your leggings in your mouth as jake bit down on your inner thigh. he held your legs open.
you cried into your leggings, trying to remember the pain is only temporary. as jake fed, he rubbed circles on the opposite inner thigh he wasn’t feeding on. soon your cries turned into whimpers, and the tears stopped forming.
it wasn’t a long feed, and jake sat up, licking his blood covered lips, before giving the teeth marks on your thigh one last lick. the salvia was to heal the wound.
you took deep breaths, as your head was tilted back resting against the bathroom mirror. jake stood up rubbing soothing patterns on your thighs as you regained your own strength.
when you nodded you were okay, jake kissed your cheek, and helped you get dressed.
“don’t walk home alone, either have a study mate walk back with you to your dorm or call one of us.”
“yes sir.”
︶꒦꒷♡꒷꒦︶
when you arrived to your dorm, your roommate was in the shared common area. “hey! how was studying?”
“tiring.” you stated. “i need at least an 86% to bring my grade back up to b. if not i know the professor will be on my ass.”
“at least the teaching assistant is cute.” your roommate teased.
ah yes, the teaching assistant for that class happened to be jay. another one of the boys that feeds on you.
“right.” you yawned and bid goodnight to your roommate, going into your private bedroom to change. you would shower in the morning since your first class wasn’t until 11 am.
you were the only one on campus that was human and knew about the boys being vampires.
heeseung, jay, jake, sunghoon, and newly turned jungwon, sunoo and ni-ki. the only story you knew was of sunoo and ni-ki and how they turned. sunghoon and jake were the ones to turn them. apparently the boys were involved in a terrible accident and it was either they die or be turned. that was only a month ago.
jungwon was turned by jay a little over 2 months ago.
you did know jay and sunghoon were the first vampires, then heeseung and jake.
jay was actually the reason you came to know the boys. first day of the semester, he noticed you. after the first quiz about the second week, he called you to his small office. you thought you had failed, but that wasn’t the case.
you didn’t know, but since jay saw you in class, he had been watching you. for two weeks he watched your every move with the help of sunghoon. it had been a while since they had a human to consistently feed on. with the newly turned boys, they would need someone to help ‘train’ the boys to control their blood lust.
you accused jay of wiping your memory or using his mind control powers because you cannot even remember how you agreed to this.
︶꒦꒷♡꒷꒦︶
you were awoken around 2 am by sirens outside your dorm, and flashing lights.
rubbing your eyes tirelessly, you sat up in bed and your roommate barged in. “oh my goodness!”
“what happened?” you asked with a yawn.
“a girl was just found outside in a bush! apparently she had blood pouring out of her!”
that woke you up.
“huh? what do you mean?”
“amy on the second floor was the one to find her! it’s belle, a freshman! amy claimed her wrist were just gushing out blood, and there was a blood trail leading away from her body!”
your heart beat picked up the pace. you quickly grabbed your phone to text jay.
you: jay, did you hear about the freshman girl?
jay: yes. your class with me at 11 has already been canceled. i am on my way to pick you up.
you: what happened?
jay: it’s ni-ki. he ignored our strict curfew and rules. i will explain after i pick you up. pack an overnight bag.
“i’m going to stay with a friend off campus.” your roommate spoke. you forgot she was still in the room. “i don’t wanna stay in a building where there’s a creep lurking!”
“same.” you said and got up from bed to pack a bag.
jay and sunghoon always explained to the newer vampires, that feeding on a human can be dangerous, especially for the first few times.
a newbie quickly loses control, driven by lust only. if not stopped, it can end up deadly.
what has ni-ki done?

this first song is kind of cool but pretty boring overall. i like how it sounds like the vocals are coming from down the hall..
uneventful but not necessarily in a bad way. it has some maybe suicide influence? but also reminds me of alex cameron in some ways? overall enjoyable enough

graham review:
Some Ariel Pink shizz maybe?
Pitchfork would call this hypnagogic or something like that. Very spacey, lofi, and dark so far
These guys suck at singing but in a cool way I think…
Portland music for sure. Probably played at Lollipop Shoppe
2nd song is very noisy, spacey as fuck
Vocals reminding me heavily of the pricemaster
Sounds like it was recorded in a huge metal room with no doors or windows
Like a stinkier John Maus or a Guitar show recorded from a mile away

Wild Idol, Episode 9: Beautiful Pain and Kitchen Sink Pizza
I’m glad we’re not doing another cold open about wild animals and how their existence is just like what our idols are doing. The show knows it ended on a serious moment in the last episode, so we pick up where we left off.
Taehoon and Hyung Seok We see Hyung Seok break down again mid-song. He’s only 23 at the time of filming this show, and he’s already been through more trauma than most people experience in their whole lives, and now he’s on a survival reality show. Taehoon tries hard to help him pull it together. Hyung Seok fights to keep the song going, but he sobs into the mic and puts it right back down. Then, with Taehoon looking right into his eyes, he tries again. They sing the final line together.
Hyung Seok tells us in a confessional that he knew this challenge could be his last chance of surviving on the show. It could be his last performance. He’d just lost the rap challenge, and he’s at the bottom of the rankings, so yeah. He says he started thinking about his entire journey so far on this show and became overwhelmed.
The coaches are very kind to him. They explain that they can’t let the emotion influence their score, but they do understand why he reacted like that. They add that they were actually leaning toward voting for him until he lost control, so now they are voting for Taehoon.

I have mixed feelings about this. I wish they had allowed a do-over, giving Hyung Seok a moment to pull himself together, especially since they were leaning toward voting for him anyway. But then there’s the whole “surviving the wild” theme of this show, not to mention that if he’d been performing a live show and broken down like that, he wouldn’t be given a do-over. I also have to wonder how Taehoon feels, knowing he would have lost this challenge if it weren’t for his opponent having a breakdown. This just sucks for both of them.
The coaches tell Taehoon he can now take fifty points from Hyung Seok, and Taehoon does not look happy about it. He has already established himself as the Loyal Idol, several episodes back. This is not the kind of win he wanted.
We cut to a beautiful scene of the sun setting over the mountains. The coaches are ready for the next round, and the trio volunteers. After what just happened with Hyung Seok, I think I’m going to stop making fun of Ki Joong, especially since I know he won’t win in the end either. So coming up, we have Ki Joong, Jiseong, and Surfer Dude, singing “Every Day, Every Moment,” by Paul Kim.

Surfer Dude starts a little unsteadily, maybe from nerves. Jiseong goes next, and his voice is more strong and focused. I can feel the warmth behind it. Same with Ki Joong. For all the crap I’ve given him, he definitely makes himself heard. His voice has sweetness and vulnerability behind it. I think this battle is only between Jiseong and Ki Joong. And the more they sing, the more I think the winner will be Ki Joong.
But the coaches are leaning a different way. As much as they love Ki Joong’s voice, they feel more emotion from Jiseong. One of the coaches said he didn’t know this song had a groove to it until he heard Jiseong sing it. The coach said he was surprised the song could sound that way, which is one of the biggest compliments we’ve heard on this show so far.
Jiseong is the winner. Our future TAN man has beaten two competitors at once. He’s won both the rap and vocal challenges in this talent mission. Now he has to choose which opponent to take fifty points from. He already took fifty from Surfer Dude in the rap battle. He chooses Ki Joong this time, which surprises me. Taking another fifty from Surfer Dude would knock his opponent down in the rankings. Then again, it would also put a target on his own back if Surfer Dude wins next time. So maybe Ki Joong really was the better choice.
Next up, Sunghyuk and Baby Hercules sing “I Want to Fall in Love” by Jung Seung-hwan. Baby H begins, and he sounds way more mature than his actual age of twenty-two. His voice reminds me of Julio Iglesias from the 80s. Sunghyuk’s voice is younger, more yearning and romantic. It’s an interesting contrast. I think they’re equally talented, but Sunghyuk’s voice is more suited to a K-pop idol. Baby H should sing on movie soundtracks.
The coaches seems spellbound by both of them, but in the end, they disagree with me and choose Baby H. I can’t even criticize them. It comes down to style preference. I hate to see the TAN guy lose, but I get it. One of the coaches then says that these two are the best vocalists he’s heard so far. I actually said out loud, “Really? Better than Hyunyeop?” I want that coach to explain himself, but we’re moving on.
Only one team left. The main event. Jooan vs. The Cadet. I am on the edge of my seat for this. The panelists and the other idols are excited. The pressure on these two must be intense.

The coaches ask if they can order fried chicken for this show. The Cadet laughs. Jooan does not look nervous AT ALL. Ignore the hands knotted into each other and total lack of a smile. He’s chill. (Seriously, I’m worried that he’s about to throw up.)
Jooan tells the coaches they will be singing “Last Love” by Kim Bum Soo. He sounds like he’s talking through gritted teeth. Jooan, I really need you to win this, so maybe have a shot of Bacardi and UNCLENCH.
The music starts. Jooan takes the first line, and of course, it’s spellbinding. Sitting among the other idols, Taehoon is transfixed. The coaches close their eyes and smile.

The Cadet takes the next verse, and it’s pure bliss. There’s a tremor in his voice, but not from nerves. He’s performing with a slight waver in his voice because this is a song about holding back the tears when the love of your life is breaking up with you. I looked up the English translation of the lyrics, and they are sadder than “All By Myself” and “She’s Out of My Life” combined. Maybe the reason Jooan was so serious before starting was because he was trying to get himself in the right frame of mind.
Jooan and The Cadet keep trading lines, and it’s beautifully painful. Their voices express anguish without getting overwrought. Jooan is better at the facial expressions, so you truly believe him, while The Cadet is clearly performing, but that is the only edge that Jooan has over him. I had to pause it for a moment so I could pull myself together.
The Cadet’s singing is so good, that for just a moment, I can understand how selfish he was during the team challenges and why he was so desperate to leave Team A. If I had this kind of talent, I would fight like hell just for myself, too.
But it’s Jooan, with his passion, energy, and spirit that absolutely stuns me, and yes I’m biased, but I’ve been a TAN fan for several months and have seen just what this fascinating artist is capable of. And God, I want him to win this challenge.

The coaches applaud, and I’m feeling just as tense as Jooan looks. The first coach says he made his decision based on one part of the song, the way The Cadet sang the last line. So the first vote is for The Cadet. The second coach chooses Jooan. The third coach needs to break the tie, and I’m about to have a heart attack.
We cut to the panelists, and they agree that Jooan’s performance had more depth. Can we give THEM a vote? Jooan looks like he’s about to pass out.
Finally, the third coach speaks. He has positive and negative things to say about both singers, and if he doesn’t just say who he voted for, I’m going to punch a hole in my computer screen.
It’s Jooan. He chooses Jooan. Jooan looks stunned, and I didn’t realize I’d been holding my breath until I let it out and got dizzy.
Baby H says it best: “It was like a match between a dragon and a tiger.”

In a confessional, Jooan says, “I was delighted,” with the same serious expression that tells me he still doesn’t believe it and is waiting for the coaches to say they made a mistake. He says the win helped him gain confidence. He’s pragmatic. He’s the most pragmatic artist I’ve ever seen.
Our challenges have ended, so we go back to the Tower. It looks like it’s lit up from the inside, so now I think it’s made of a light material designed to look like stone. I have the feeling I will be obsessed with this for the rest of the show.
Now that the winners have taken points away from their opponents, it’s time for the rankings. Taehoon moves to first place. But then there are more changes, and the Tower just displays them in Korean. I don’t know who ranks where, and I know it’s a lot for the translators, but I really wish they had just put the English text on the screen next to the Korean names. Netflix does that whenever there’s text on the screen that the viewer needs to understand, when it’s crucial to the plot. LIKE NOW.
No more time to dwell on that. Time for the next mission, even though it’s clearly in the middle of the night. The idols go back to the clearing. A new coach awaits. The idols start freaking out because it’s Mr. Kim Dong Hyun! Wow, Right? Yeah, I have no idea. Apparently six months of being a K-pop fan not only doesn’t make you fluent in Korean, you also remain woefully ignorant about the rest of Korean pop culture.

Kim Dong Hyun is a mixed martial artist whose Wikipedia page could wallpaper my entire apartment. The show calls him a “Stamina Master.” Our idols have been through the emotional wringer, and it’s way past their bedtime. But sure, let’s make them fight or run or whatever this huge man is going to have them do. It’s not like a good night’s sleep is crucial for taking care of your voice.
Mr. Kim says he’s going to teach them how to have grit and stronger willpower. I guess he hasn’t seen any of the episodes up to this point, which include Sunghyuk almost getting swept away in a river while while carrying logs and everyone doing ocean sprints while being yelled at by the Bickering Twins. Our contestants don’t need more stamina. They need sleep.
But what do I know? What Mr. Kim thinks they actually need is to participate in a tournament where two people at a time will hang from a bar and try to knock each other down. I have watched several K-pop concerts online and don’t remember any of the performers having to do this, but okay. Also the matchups will be decided by their rankings instead of their weight class, which makes even less sense. Respectfully, I think maybe Mr. Kim has taken too many blows to the head.
Because we have an uneven number of contestants, the top-ranked idol automatically moves up to the next round. That’s Taehoon, so I guess he’s still Number One. Wait – we get a chart showing the lineups, and the chart also has the rankings with the photos, which is VERY helpful. Hyunyeop has moved all the way up to Number Ten! Jooan is at Number Two. I think Hyunyeop is our lowest-ranked TAN man, so things are looking up for the group.
Our idols spend the next thirty minutes with Mr. Kim. I’ll get more into this later, but I don’t know why they are doing this. Now that we’re in the last few episodes and focusing on who should be in the final group, shouldn’t we be focusing on the talent missions?
Also, I’m a little nervous about this hanging from a bar contest because it looks like someone could get hurt. The contestants fight with their legs while hanging on for dear life with their hands, trying to force their opponent to drop, and it’s far enough of a drop that someone could break an arm or land on their head. Who approved this? I don’t care who wins, I just don’t want them to die.
For the next several minutes, we watch our idols knock each other off the bars.

People win, people lose, I don’t care because I don’t see the point of this. But I do notice something interesting. In some scenes, it is pouring rain, and then when they cut to another angle of the same scene, it’s not raining anymore. Mr. Kim will be shown talking to the idols in a torrential downpour, and then we cut to the idols listening, and there’s no rain. This goes on all during the stamina challenge. I can just imagine what weather reports sound like in the Sobaek Mountain Range. “Here’s tonight’s forecast. It’s currently raining. Wait, no it's not. Wait, now it is. Wait, no it’s not … “
We get to the final round: Aquaman vs. Jaejun. When we see Mr. Kim announce the match, the weather is fine. Cut to Aquaman’s reaction, and it’s pouring rain, and his hair is slicked down on his head. They are standing maybe ten feet from each other.
Anyway, on to the final match. Jaejun is called the Black Bear Trainee, and … well, I guess if he’s fine with that, then I am too. It’s a brief struggle on the bar. Aquaman wins. When he jumps off the bar, it’s a perfectly clear night. When he lands on the ground, it’s pouring rain again. Yes, I know that it’s a continuity thing in reality television filming. But they’re making no effort to hide it, and it looks like the South Korean wilderness is in the middle of a celestial battle of good and evil, and maybe these mere mortals should just call it a night and get the hell out of the way.
Mr. Kim asks the contestants what they thought of the tournament. For what it’s worth, my opinion is that other than the bizarre weather and the fact that this sport has nothing to do with K-pop, and it’s probably two in the morning by now, it was fine.
Next up, Mr. Kim announces a nametag-stealing battle. A circle is marked in the middle of the field. Two opponents wrestle to either rip the other person’s name tag off or push that person out of the circle. The winner steals ten points from the opponent.
This challenge is at least a little more interesting. Hyung Seok, who is in last place and has nothing to lose, takes on Taehoon, and I think he may actually kill Taehoon. He has full-on crazy eyes. He’s so focused on the name tag, he doesn’t notice when Taehoon shoves him out of the circle.

Ki Joong choses Jooan as his opponent because Jooan is literally dozing off. I love the look on his face when he snaps awake.

The fight begins, and for someone who was asleep a minute ago, Jooan is scrappy as hell. He rips off Ki Joong’s name tag in triumph.
I want to fast forward through this, but funny stuff keeps happening. It’s Jiseong’s turn to pick an opponent, and he tells everyone he used to do Muy Thai for six years. He throws some punches to demonstrate, and I love the guy, but he looks like a kid showing off karate moves he saw in a cartoon.
Jiseong chooses The Brat as his opponent, and I’ll be darned if The Brat doesn’t make me laugh out loud by mocking Jiseong’s Muy Thai moves. Then Jaejun gets in on the fun with something he calls Drunk Black Bear. Mr. Kim gets such a kick out of this, he approves a three-way fight. I’m totally on board. Whatever moves this along. Long story short, Jaejun wins by shoving both opponents out of the circle. I guess he can use this skill to shove his future bandmates off the stage if they forget the choreography.

Finally, we’re done with this stamina challenge. That was a bizarre thirty minutes. Now back to the Tower because these boys STILL aren’t allowed to get some sleep. We get the current rankings, which again I can’t read, but I’m able to get some of the positions based on conversations between the idols.
Number 1 – Taehoon Number 2 – Jaejun Number 3 – Jooan Number 8 – Jiseong Number 11 – The Cadet Number 13 – Surfer Dude
The Tower tells them the mission will continue tomorrow. We still have 25 minutes left in this episode, so I’m guessing we’ll end on an elimination cliffhanger. The boys go back to their tents and pass out.
Cut to morning, when I would love to get a scene in which the bleary-eyed trainees look at each other and say, “Man, I had the weirdest dream where we were all beating each other up for points, and this raincloud kept moving all over the place, and Jiseong thought he was some kind of martial arts expert, and we weren’t allowed to sleep. Thank goodness it was just a dream. Wait, where’s my name tag?”
What actually happens is that the idols wake up to care packages with snacks and apple juice. The show blurs out the brand names, but I recognize one of the packages as a pack of strawberry Hi-Chew candies, which I love and am now craving. There are handwritten notes in the boxes – awww, the care packages are gifts from the panelists! That’s sweet.
We cut to the generous panelists, who tell us the online voting is still going on. Oh, right. I forgot about that. Viewers are voting for their favorite trainees as well as the group name. There sure is a lot of stuff going on in this show. Back to the mountains. We have three new coaches admiring the Tower with their backs to the camera, and then the Dukes of Hazzard arrive. I’m not a fan of the plaid. What was wrong with the black shirts? Is the next challenge a hoedown?

The new coaches turn around, and fanboys gonna fanboy again. One of the coaches is Jo Kwon of a group called … 2am. Wait, there’s a 2pm and a 2am? According to Google, the two bands were spawned from the same music documentary. What a weird industry K-pop is. The second coach is Ji Yeon, a singer and actress. The final one is Seunghee of a group called OH MY GIRL, which sometimes goes by OMG. All three of these people are famous, as evidenced by the fact that our boys are drooling over the two female coaches like they just got out of prison and haven’t seen a woman in years.
Our coaches say that ways of expression are important for capturing an audience. The coaches will be evaluating the idols’ ability to express emotions. Okay, so this is basically an acting competition. We haven’t covered this area yet. It still doesn’t explain the red plaid shirts, but sure.
This challenge turns out to be disappointing. The boys are very self-conscious in front of the famous people and keep laughing when they’re supposed to be expressing regret, sadness, rage, and itchiness (yes, itchiness), but the coaches tell them they’re doing a fantastic job. What is happening here? I really hate to bring this up again, but is this where Jooan learned his face acting skills for the “Walking on the Moon” video?

(This facial expression means either "I love you" or "Shut up, I'm trying to read during this basketball game.")
Not that I blame these guys for doing poorly at emoting. As an introvert, I would fail this challenge. I keep my emotions locked up tightly inside, where they belong. (I get a lot of headaches.) By the way, we’re still getting the sporatic rain during this challenge. The mountains may be pretty, but they wreak havoc on TV show continuity.
Next, each idol tries emoting to music, and the whole thing is just uncomfortable to watch. It’s got to be easier to show emotions onstage during a concert when you’re feeding off the energy of an audience instead of standing in the woods with a television crew and your fellow contestants staring at you. None of the idols do well, but the coaches choose Changsun, Taehoon, and Hyung Seok as the least bad.
Everyone applauds. Suddenly, the drums start up, and the idols start running, which confuses me because they’re already at the Tower. The words “Golden Flag” wave across the Tower’s screen. It’s another flag race. The idols run to grab gold flags and plant them back at the Tower. The first seven to return get bonus points.
Baby H is first, followed by Aquaman, Changsun, Jooan, Taehoon, Hyunyeop, and Ki Joong. Jooan has always done well in these flag races. But unlike the other races, this just came out of nowhere and feels like a way to fill time before we finally end the episode.

This show has a problem. It started with too many contestants and has too many episodes. We have four more episodes to go and eight contestants to eliminate, and we should have eliminated at least one person today. The show keeps threatening to eliminate contestants, but the last cut was two episodes ago. We now have to stretch and find enough excitement to fill these remaining episodes. They have to make Kitchen Sink Pizza for the rest of the series.
Kitchen Sink Pizza is when you have scraps of leftovers in the fridge, and none of them are enough for a meal, so you take a pre-made pizza crust and just chop up the leftovers and toss it on the crust, throw it in the oven, and hope you have something edible in thirty minutes. Wild Idol started this episode with an amazing vocal challenge that kept me captivated for the first half, and then it realized that it still had half a show to fill. So the show opened the fridge, pulled out a martial arts expert, some care packages, and a bunch of gold flags, and threw it all in the oven. What came out was something I want to toss in the garbage and use DoorDash instead.
The biggest fix would be to cancel the last three episodes and make the next one a two-hour special of live performances on those big Tower stages we saw earlier. Based on those performances, all the coaches and the voting audience will choose the seven winners. No Mercy did that, and it was one of the best show finales I’ve ever seen.
Since it’s clearly too late to cancel the last three episodes, here are some other suggestions.
Start chopping contestants. I know it sounds cold, but as this show keeps beating into the ground, here in the wild you survive or you die and you have to survive to be a wild idol or you die blah blah blah JUST CUT SOMEBODY ALREADY. We need to cut at least four people before the final episode. No Mercy left two rejected trainees standing when it was over. If this show doesn’t have the guts to cut down to just two rejected trainees, then fine, make it four. That means four people need to go home over the next three episodes.
Focus on the Talent Missions. As much as I’ll miss the Bickering Twins, we need to put a stop to the wrestling and log carrying and running on mud flats and flag races and all this other gimmicky stuff that has nothing to do with being a singer and dancer. I’ll admit, it was fun for a while, but now that the show keeps insisting that we are sharpening our focus on putting the band together, let’s put the freaking band together.
The most exciting and spellbinding moments of the show are the rap, vocal, and dance challenges. That’s what we’re here for. We’re K-pop fans. I don’t care if Monsta X can wrestle each other’s socks off to form words. I want to know when they’re going to sing “Rush Hour.”
Enough with the Point Stealing. These idols desperately want to debut. Stop making light of their desperation by turning the pursuit of their dreams into Family Feud or whatever game shows are popular in Korea right now. Since you keep telling us you’re focusing on putting the group together, then let the idols keep the points they earned by being talented instead of stealing them from each other. That’s been cruel from the beginning, but now that you claim to be focusing on talent for the remaining episodes, it’s unacceptable. Just stop already.
And finally,
Tell me what that Tower is made of, dammit. It couldn’t have been made of real stone, because that would be an environmental disaster. It must have been made with light materials. Is it disassembled in a warehouse somewhere? Can I have it? I’ll pay for shipping. I want that thing in my yard. My apartment building is difficult for delivery drivers to find, so instead of trying to explain that there are two buildings with the same number and they need to go to the second one, I can just say, “It’s the one with the big-ass Tower in front of it.” I’ll decorate it with tinsel and ornaments at Christmas. I’ll hook it up to my Roku stick and broadcast the Olympics on it for all my neighbors. The possibilities are endless.

A month.
You have gone missing for a month.
Nobody actually give care about it since you are not the important character at the school. The students and teachers just thought you stop to go to school.
But not Jungwon.
A day after your absent, he felt weird like something bad is happening. You didn't call him or even give him a message to let him know that you are okay.
He looked to Riki who were smiling at his phone and felt suspicious why the boy didn't feel worried about you. The said boy turned to him suddenly made Jungwon startled a bit.
"What are you looking for?"
"N-no-nothing."
Riki scoffed before went back to look at his phone. Jungwon also turned to focus at the front as the teacher already come in.
-------------------------------------------------------
"There's still no news about her, won?"
"No grandma, I had asked the police but they also didn't found any clue so they can't do any investigation."
"I miss the girl, won-ah."
"Me too, grandma."
Jungwon sighed when his grandmother went back to her room. Your presence bring happiness to both of them. His grandma literally treat you like her own daughter.
____________________________________________
"MMPPHH!!!"
You tried to escape from Riki's tight hold but too bad the boy was stronger than you. Riki sucked your skin until it shows bruise. He loves to see his marks on your soft skin. Your hands and legs has been cuffed to the bed made his task become easier.
"You know, there's no point trying to back away from this y/n. Nobody cares about you. You should realise at this point that only me can give you happiness."
Your tears slowly fell down the cheeks and Riki licked it without hesitation. He loves everything about you. Your body started to relax when you come to the conclusion that you can't have a normal life anymore.
"See, it's good thing to accept it baby. Now, let me leave some marks so you can remember who are you belong to, okay?"
____________________________________________
Riki left his phone on the table when he suddenly got urge to poop. He confidently did that since he knew that nobody will go to the class when it is recess time. But, that's where he had made a mistake. Jungwon quickly went inside when he saw Riki finally got out. He took the phone and tried to look for something but failed when he need to enter the password.
Jungwon didn't know why he feel that your birthday is the password but he did it and to his surprise, it's finally unlocked. It left him a really bad feeling. He accidentally press the gallery app and found out your pictures. Some of the pictures from far away and some of it were your face when you were sleeping. He looked at the details and found out the date of the pictures was few days ago.
Now, he confirmed the real culprit behind this was Riki. But, the problem right now is how can he save you from the boy? Jungwon exited the app and put the phone back on its place and went back to his seat like nothing happen. Riki who just got back from the toilet stared suspiciously at Jungwon but disregarded it when he couldn't point anything.
☆☆☆☆☆
"Fucking let me go!!!!"
Jungwon scaredly staring at the sight he saw which was you were getting dragged by three or four people into Riki's mansion. Riki just smirked at another of your tactic to run away again. Jungwon realised if he wanted to save you, he need to prepare a big plan.
He sighed to calm himself down when hearing your pleading to Riki. He promised to himself he will bring you out of there.
"Y/N, wake up!"
You whimpering at the sudden noise interrupting your nap. You woke up to find the sound just now was from Jungwon who was standing in front of you.
"Oh god, what happen to your body? Why there are so many bruises?"
"Jung-Jungwon, yo-you can't be here. Run away! Riki will kill you. Please, go!"
Although the urge to escape is still here inside you but you don't want to take any risk. Riki is powerful. He can do anything to destroy things he didn't like without getting arrested by the police.
"No, I won't do that. I promise myself to bring you out. I don't want you to suffer anymore."
Y/N has started crying at this point. She was glad Jungwon care about her but at the same time she's worried of his safety too.
Since Riki has some training at the school, he need to stay back and this made Jungwon be able to get to the mansion.
"Let's get out of here. Let's go to our home."
☆☆☆☆
"HOW THE FUCK CAN YOU LOST HER??!!"
Riki kicking the bodyguard without stop and using him to release his anger. When he back from practice, he expected to see you on the bed. Not to see the window is broken and his men were panic looking for you.
"You had one job. ONLY. ONE. JOB."
He finally stop kicking when his bodyguard become unconscious. He turned to the other men in front of him. The blood on his face and shoes made them became terrified.
"Go find her. NOW!!!"
____________________________________________
Two years later...
You now were living together with Jungwon and his grandmother at some rural area. Since you guys didn't want to get caught by Riki, all of you agreed to leave the city and live at the place that has small population because you thought Riki wouldn't know you will be here since most of the citizen are old folks.
Jungwon and you working together at the small bakery and has been working part time while studying a year ago. It was really tiring but now, you finished the school and one burden is gone. His grandmother will stay at home at wait for both of you patiently.
You also had become Jungwon's girlfriend and some of the neighbours will always tease you guys when they see you both together.
However, one day when you were running from getting chase by your boyfriend, you stopped at the front door where you saw the person who you really wish you don't want to see.
"Ri- riki..."
"Awh baby, you still remember me."
You looked to the person beside him who was terrified at the sight of Riki. Jungwon's grandmother.
"Do you know how much damage you had cost, Y/N? I killed many people just to look for you, baby. Don't you feel guilty about it?"
You were speechless. You couldn't speak. Riki was holding a gun and pointing it at the old woman. Jungwon who just arrived became shocked at sight too.
"Ah, the asshole is finally here."
"Stay away from my grandmother, Riki."
"If you want your old woman then give me my Y/N."
It become tense. You were wishing the neighbours are calling the police but thinking back, they must got threaten and decided to stay quiet and not to help you guys.
"Make your decision, Jungwon or your beloved grandmother would get shot on her head. You don't want that to happen, right?"
Jungwon couldn't decide. He doesn't want to lose you but he also doesn't want his grandmother to get shot. You looked at his eyes that has tears falling one by one. Riki watching the scene happily and smirked when he got the boy at his weakness. He turned to you and gave a signal for you to surrender.
"Let them go, Riki. I will go back to you."
"Y/n-"
"See! I know my baby is smart. Come here, I want to hug you."
You slowly walked to him ignoring Jungwon's pleading. You need to sacrifice yourself. Even though you hate it, you don't want your lover to suffer too. Jungwon couldn't help but to think he is so weak. When he saw Riki was smirking at him, he thought himself as weak person because he couldn't save you both.
Riki pulled you closer by the waist and smelled your neck. The scent is still same. He moaned slowly at the comfort you bring to him. After two years suffering and losing himself, he finally got you back.
"I love you so much, y/n and that's why they need to go."
You were confused at his words but then you heard two gun shots behind you. Your body started to shaking at the thought of Jungwon and his grandmother died.
You pushed yourself off Riki and turned to your back to see it and without realising you screamed histerically at the scene.
"You said you will not kill them!!! You fucker!!! I hate you so much!! Let me go!!! Ahhhhhhhhhh Fucking let me go!!!!"
Riki hold your hands to stop hitting him. He hold your jaw tightly while kissing your face. He smiled when you slowly giving up and leaned your body on him. He caressed your hair and left a peck on it.
"All people who touch you or see you...I will kill them. That's why the neighbours can't help you."
Riki carried your body and went inside the car. He had told his men to take care of the village and make sure it becomes abandoned place.
"You maybe smarter than me, y/n but you forgot that I'm always one step ahead from you."
Ayo🥺✋ that was tough to finish💀 aight i hope you guys enjoy this..please dont forget to eat and drink okay!

just realised (or connected the dots) that when han juwon says that those who’re connected to the case shouldn’t handle it, dongsik agrees becuz the reason why the killer isn’t suspected is cuz he’s part of the close-knit village.
and dongsik understands this. and later on juwon understands that dongsik did understand that. which is why later on, juwon’s reflecting everything dongsik has taught juwon back to him, telling him “you’re too connected to this case. you’re too connected to the people connected to this case. you’re not suspecting the right ppl”
and mf gives him a list of ppl to suspect.
i love their dynamic so much
OKAY!! Tell me to shut up now because this is one of my favourite parts of Joo Won's character!!
Despite how rigid Joo Won is - spine-wise and in terms of his moral compass - he still manages to be a very adaptable person. I think it's one of the things that many of the other characters in the show don't expect from him, which causes them to underestimate his intentions and misinterpret his actions. Some of these characters are Han Ki Hwan, Lee Chang Jin, Chief Jung Cheol-Mun, Oh Ji Hwa and Kwon Hyuk to a certain extent.
Episodes 3, 4, 5, 6, 10, 12, 13, and 16 (there might be more) follow the theme of one being too emotionally connected to the case at hand. Whether that be Dong Sik with Min Jeong and Yu Yeon or Joo Won with his father. But the topic is first probably introduced in Episode 3. Episode 3: Joo Won and Dong Sik have been asked to give a statement after they found Min Jeong's fingertips, so Dong Sik can be dismissed as a suspect (which Joo Won realises straight away and states out loud for the audience). DS: Your office is big enough. Why are we here? JW: She's doing this for you. A cop is only human. She knows how people will think of you with the recent case. The first thing Ji Hwa asks in this scene is are you okay? She hasn't entered this situation as a police officer, which is something she struggles with throughout the entire show. [Side note: Joo Won and Ji Hwa oftentimes share the exact same beliefs about how to approach their jobs. They believe a cop is a cop and no one is above the law BUT the law sucks. They both express these opinions in different ways throughout the show, Joo Won with action and Ji Hwa with opinion. But obviously, they express themselves differently and we are meant to perceive them differently because of their age, gender, and their role within the narrative.] So, because of the traumatic thing that has happened, which she now has to investigate, she approaches the situation as a friend. Which, given the informal nature of the summons, I get BUTTTTT the issue with that is... They're police officers and this is an active missing person/murder investigation, of which, Dong Sik was the lead suspect in a similar cold case... So, the two of them sharing information willy-nilly in the investigation room is actually kind of unprofessional (in my opinion). When I first watched it, I agreed with Joo Won: Ji Hwa is too emotionally involved to be non-bias and Dong Sik shouldn't be given information (inside the interrogation room), it doesn't do well for the investigation... AND to give Joo Won credit, he did live with Prosecutor (Kwon Hyuk), so he probably knows the ways a lawyer can tear apart a case. This then poses a very interesting line of questioning. Joo Won states all the logical reasons why Ji Hwa and Dong Sik shouldn't be a part of the case: they were like family to Min Jeong, Dong Sik was once a suspect 20 years ago, and the formality of the questioning of a witness does not allow for the briefing of that witness. But then Dong Sik counters his argument with: What's wrong with that? Why can't detectives get their feelings involved? What's wrong with being like family to the victim? We want to lock up the bastard who did this to our family. What's wrong with that?
It's the whole reason he became a police officer. It's what he's spent 20 years doing!! HOWEVER, 3 years prior to the canon timeline, Dong Sik berated Lee Sang Yeob for having the exact line of thinking... and it influenced his actions, which lead to his murder.... (and considering how borderline suicidal Dong Sik is, are we stepping too far to assume that he doesn't care to come out of this whole experience intact/ alive??? Maybe, maybe not)
But Dong Sik knows where Joo Won is coming from because he's been in his shoes but he also knows that sometimes, you need emotions to get involved. Lee Yu Yeon and Kang Min Jeong don't have anyone to help them now... there's only Dong Sik left. So, when it's your family that is killing your family, you need those emotions to stop them/bring them to justice.
"To catch these monsters, we must become monsters." Dong Sik, episode 3
So, Joo Won thinks the police shouldn't investigate with their emotions. Dong Sik thinks they should. Out of the two of them, Joo Won is the hypocrite here. He approached his investigation of Dong Sik with nothing BUT emotion (despite how much he likes to pretend he didn't). Joo Won is responsible for Lee Geum Hwa's murder. She's a sex worker with no family in Korea, with no one to claim her body. So, incensed with folly and guilt, Joo Won investigates with emotion.
In episode 4, Dong Sik asks one of the most important (throwaway) questions of the whole series: “It’s a dangerous thing to become attached to someone. Don’t you think?”
The series shows us throughout that the answer is yes and no. It is dangerous but it is worth it.
Episode 10 Joo Won is one of my favourite versions of him. He took the time to digest his relationship with Dong Sik, he highlighted all the parts he didn't like and all the parts he did, he realised Dong Sik's language and decided to reapproach him speaking it. I don't care what anyone says, he's adaptable! It only took him a week to realise Dong Sik isn't the killer, it took a month for them to bring a 20-year-old serial killer to justice (although, you can't really give Joo Won credit for that), and it only took him 3 months to process whatever the fuck was going on between him and Dong Sik. Joo Won learned to speak Dong Sik's language by copying his actions. He planted the evidence (so the police would investigate Kang Jin Mook's suspicious death), he smiled at the camera so Dong Sik would know it was him, he made them dinner so Dong Sik would stay, he said the list of names to prove to Dong Sik 1) look I've been paying attention 2) I know you and I see you (he's a lil creepy) and 3) you've been blindsided by your trust. He doesn't want Dong Sik to make the same mistakes.
Plus... everyone should be a suspect. (that's the way i see it anyway)
Throughout the show, Dong Sik proves time and time again that there isn't much he'll do for those he loves. Plant evidence? Sure. Get himself arrested? Duh! Be a part of a plot to take down the Commissioner of the police? Piece of cake.
But Joo Won is just as willing and twice as reckless as Dong Sik.
So, if Dong Sik investigates with his emotions, Joo Won investigates with his whole heart. Because as soon as Dong Sik gains Joo Won's loyalty, there's not much Joo Won wouldn't do for him. Plant evidence? Sure. Voluntarily get arrested on live national TV? Duh! Promise to go to hell? Piece of cake. Go into a house with the knowledge that you could be murdered? Let's go!! Arrest your dad and your partner? (that one is a little harder)
(gosh he needs to chill)
So, Dong Sik asked: What's wrong with that? Why can't detectives get their feelings involved? What's wrong with being like family to the victim? We want to lock up the bastard who did this to our family. What's wrong with that?
He investigates with his emotions dictating his actions BUT like he says in episode 11:
Inspector Han, it's my job to go berserk without thinking about the consequences. You can stick to just being you. Be calm and composed. That is your job.
Dong Sik knows, as does Joo Won and us, the audience, that Joo Won is not a calm and composed man. Out of the two of them, that's Dong Sik. He is the one that can compartmentalize his emotions and think these through before acting but he is very trusting, far too trusting for his own good. Whereas Joo Won is very analytical but he's impulsive and his emotions can make him sloppy and presumptuous.
But when they work together, they are able to keep each other in check and follow through.
So, to answer Dong Sik's question Why can't detectives get their feelings involved? The answer the show gives is that Joo Won is right: A cop is only human. So, yes, they can but they need their partner to keep them in check.

Thank you for sending this ask! I absolutely adore this aspect of their dynamic as well. So I decided to agree with you by writing way too many words and include beautiful gifs. I went a little off-topic but I hope what I'm trying to say correlates with your point and furthermore, makes sense. I hope you have a great day!

well, december’s flown by, so this means...another unasked for list of things i’ve watched, recommendations, etc. one day, i might stop doing these, but i seem to have no shame, so here’s stuff i’ve consumed in the final month (!) of 2021.
kdrama:
hotel del luna

you know. ....i went into this kdrama not having very high expectations? i watched the first episode in 2019 back when it was airing, but i couldn’t find myself wanting to continue it, even though i adored iu’s acting in my mister. well, nearly two years later, i decided to give this kdrama another shot because i mostly missed yeo jin goo’s face, and i also wanted to see him in what i thought would be a lighter role.
basically...i fell in love with this show. yes, i still think ep 1 was kinda slow, but ep 2 onwards? i was in love with the general themes in healing, letting go of past pains, finding new love, etc...there were just so many of those overlapping themes that made me cry a little. basically, this show is about man wol (iu), a thousands of years old woman who owns a hotel for ghosts. when she brings in a new hotel manager gu chan seong (yeo jin goo), everything becomes much more complicated.
this show was just. as i’ve mentioned, so lovely? it really delivered on visual aesthetics, the plot, the characters...all of whom i absolutely fell in love with. this show also really reminded me why i loved kdramas that kinda bordered on fantasy in the first place (like w: two worlds, while you were sleeping...things are just nice with a touch of magic). it also just came at the right time for me--and i think after watching mostly dark kdramas in the last few months, watching a show that was mostly healing really made me feel :’))
because this is my first life
you know when you watch like. the first 10 minutes of a show and already know you’re going to love it? that’s what i felt when i started watching because this is my first life.
this is a story about two strangers ji ho (jung so min) and sae hee (lee min ki), who get married for the sake of affordable housing. don’t be fooled by the pastel palette and the softly detailed camerawork--there’s quite a lot of hard-hitting moments in this show, and it definitely goes into heavier themes, particularly regarding the way misogyny affects women in present day. there’s also a lot of discussion about what it means to have a dream for a young woman in the 21st century...and what it means to be in your thirties or entering your thirties, as well as what it really means to be married (because...what does marriage really mean?).
i didn’t really expect myself to cry and laugh as much as i did watching this show. i found myself getting quickly sucked into the show after the ending of the first episode, and then each episode just kept leaving me with lovely life lessons and phrases that i’ve decided to carry around with me. this truly is a special show, and i’m very glad i watched it, and i think if you really need something to quietly brighten your day, then you should give this a watch.
tv:
the haunting of bly manor
okay...so i watched this i think relatively soon after it came out, but i gave this another watch on my first day of break, and . .. ..you know when you already know how something bad is going to happen, but you’re wierdly pulled into it because you want to see people fight against whatever fate they have in store for them? that was kind of my experience rewatching haunting, although i suppose i can say that for most things i’ve rewatched. it hit me especially hard this time around though.
i feel like most people know about this show, but on the off-chance someone doesn’t: an american woman named dani moves to england and becomes an au pair for the wingrave children in the manor of bly.
i won’t go much more into that, but. . .come for the ghosts + the spooky feelings, but stay for the found family, the lovely (canon!) wlw relationship, and also . . . the idea that love stories and ghost stories are the same thing. truly a magnificent show, so much to unpack about loss and love and healing and breaking years and years of hurt. a gem of a show.
arcane
so...i’ve never played nor will i ever play league of legends, but i gave this show a watch mostly because during the last leg of midterms season, my friend wouldn’t stop making distressed noises while watching this show. despite not really being excited for this show (i’ve had secondhand experience in witnessing the notorious toxicity of the league community), i was incredibly sucked into this series after the second episode. i still know nothing about league, but the world in this show is pretty interesting + very comprehensive + easy to follow along, even without any background knowledge of the game.
but anyways: this show mostly follows the two sisters vi and powder/jinx, who, after a tragic rescue mission gone wrong, are forced to go in separate paths. but the bigger picture of the show is this incredible tension between the “topsiders” (well-off people, high tech, etc) and the undercity, run by crime lord silco. there’s a classic in-world political struggle as well as personal sibling struggles, and it all balances itself out neatly into a very compelling series. for a second, i was even tempted to play league...although no worries, i still won’t touch that video game within a ten foot pole.
ofc, this show isn’t entirely perfect: there were some parts of the show that made me pause and kinda wish they went about certain things in a better way, but overall! i super enjoyed it, and i can’t wait for a second season because there is no way the show ends like that.
movies:
empire of lust

y’know, i heard mixed reviews of this movie, and i think after watching this movie, i can mostly agree that it is very much...a mixed review kind of movie. that said, the entire cast was incredibly strong, and i felt for our leads immediately (i mean. it’s shin ha kyun. you know he’s going to bring his a-game. and also kang ha na. i’m not familiar with her other works but i just knew from the first minute she was on screen that she was going to get everyone’s attention). basically, this movie’s about this esteemed commander kim min jae (shin ha kyun) who’s kinda known as this important lord’s right hand man/a favorite of the king. he’s kinda miserable tbh, because even despite the honors and titles, he’s still basically under the thumb of those in power.
then he meets ga hee (kang ha na), whom he very quickly falls in love with. she becomes his consort, only, unbeknownst to min jae, she has some plans of her own. what follows is a pretty interesting revenge story, and while i really adored her character, i kinda wish the development was more. . .thorough? again, this is mostly a pacing issue.
that said though, i overall enjoyed the movie! i think this is a film i could see myself maybe watching again one day if i just want to watch a movie with nice aesthetic shots of joseon korea. . .but that said, um. this movie is rated r, so content warnings for sex, rape, and a bit of blood.
big match

don’t be fooled by the dark screencap i used: this was actually one of the silliest movies i’ve watched in a good long while, but silly in a good way! basically, this movie follows a pro wrestler choi ik ho (lee jung jae), who is suddenly forced to take part in some kind of game in order to save his older brother (lee sung min). the mastermind? an eccentric dude named ace (shin ha kyun), who gleefully makes the game harder and harder for ik ho.
tbh. . .i don’t know what to say except it was fun! i don’t think i’ll watch it again unless i want to see shin ha kyun play something much more lighthearted (because. this was probably one of his most lighthearted roles it’s so weird to think this man can play a character like ace and also a character like min jae or dong sik or joo sang this man really knows how to act). i found some of the scenes rather funny, but overall it felt pretty fresh! lots of action too, very interesting camerawork + outrageous stunts if that’s your cup of tea. overall, i didn’t dislike it--i guess action comedy isn’t exactly my favorite genre, but i enjoyed the acting and the laughs, because i was in a funny sad mood when i started watching this (and then started laughing a lot once the movie started).
the lovely bones

this is one of those movies that i really wish was better than it was pitched to me. or at least, i wish people warned me of how i might dislike some parts of it, because i really disliked some parts of it. that said though, i did overall like the majority of this movie, which is about a 14 year old girl who gets murdered + tries to put together the pieces from the “in between”.
this is a really…beautifully crafted movie in that the visuals and the movie were all fantastic. acting was also fantastic! i wasn’t the biggest fan of the heavy voiceovers, but that’s a me thing. i also wasn’t the biggest fan of a lot of other elements, all of which i’ll leave vague because i feel like this is a movie you really don’t want to be spoiled about…but like. anyways. overall, do i recommend it? mm…maybe. maybe. i think it’s a fantastic example of healing + visual storytelling, but i feel like i might hesitate in suggesting this to anyone. if anything, i feel like i would be quicker to recommend shows like hotel del luna or beyond evil if anyone wants a “murder + closure” related story (hotel del luna if you want something supernatural, beyond evil for something more about the effects of murder on a family)…but that’s just me.
little forest

what a genuinely sweet movie! like, genuinely…a sweet slice-of-life movie about coming back home to get some sense of yourself. this movie is based off the japanese manga of the same title, and i believe it was also turned into a japanese movie as well—this is the korean adaptation. i haven’t watched the japanese film yet, but i want to now, just because this film was so good.
but anyways, about this movie…it follows a young woman named hae won (kim tae ri) coming back home to the countryside where she grew up. she just. farms and makes food and tries to gain some sense of self again, and it’s such a good movie. she’s such a lovely character, and the story is really simple but sweet, and the camerawork is fantastic, and the food in this movie is so. . .(well. don’t watch this movie at 1 am, otherwise your stomach will wake up before the rest of you.)
anyways…i adore this movie, and i think it might be one of my favorites watched this year! highly recommend—it’s available on viki and tubi for free!
inseperable bros
i was at first hesitant to watch this movie, mostly because i’m always hesitant about movies that discuss disability issues, but i found this movie actually much better than i thought it would? granted, shin ha kyun and lee kwang soo aren’t disabled themselves (as is the case with so many movies about disabilities), but it seems like both actors were incredibly self-conscious about not wanting to cross a line in their own portrayal of their characters. (especially so because this is based on a true story.)
but anyways--this movie definitely had bright moments, as well as incredibly heavy moments. it follows the story of two disabled men--se ha (shin ha kyun), who’s been paralyzed since the age of 2, and dong gu (lee kwang soo), who’s developmentally disabled and so has the mental age of 5. they’ve been close friends since very young, as they grew up in the same charity home--and now as adults, they’re trying to live as independents (as the government can no longer fund for their care).
i think something i really loved about this movie was just like. themes about found family. your family isn’t necessarily who you’re born with, but instead the people who care and love you through thick and thin. it’s an old story, but it’s still a good one, and that jumps out so hard in this movie in particular. as such, i enjoyed that aspect of the movie--and while i agree the representation probably isn’t 100% perfect, i do think it’s been much more thoughtfully made + adds a lot more nuance and understanding to the problems disabled people face, particularly in south korea.
mr. perfect

i cried like 3 times watching this movie. three times. towards the end, i cried so hard that my brother literally came into my room thinking that something was wrong--but no! it was just me! and this movie! making me bawl! like! a! baby! like! when i tell you i was literally clutching my chest and sobbing . . . besties this movie made me clutch my chest like a fuckign drama queen--
but anyways. i still recommend this movie, even if it made me cry so many tears. (seriously. watch it. i need someone to understand why i’m bawling in my room. i’ll even dm you a link.)
essentially, this movie is about baek se jin (yoon shi yoon), a pro golfer who, after a pretty horrific accident, winds up moving to an island as a teacher. due to the accident, he no longer speaks (trauma~), and he’s, as you would expect, pretty resistant to becoming a teacher at first. but as one does, he winds up getting attached to the kids in this run-down school, and the movie takes off from there. he forms specially a bond with byung joo (yeo jin goo), the quiet kid with an alcoholic dad. and it’s just. . .this whole movie. man. them. i could write a whole essay about byung joo and se jin’s relationship because they were the ones who made me sob the most--
i sobbed like a little baby. i have mixed feelings about the ending, but overall, i’m very happy i watched it. it’s such a lovely film with so many little details that i could ramble on about (literally this movie said, let me pack so many fucking parallels and make the audience cry their little eyes out). it’s sweet, it’s warm, and it’ll break your heart, but just. . .everyone’s performance was so moving and anyways i think this was perhaps my favorite movie i watched this month, and i haven’t quite felt this much about a movie since watching hwayi last month, and hwayi made me feel so many things for so long. so!!! if you have like.. . . 2 hours to kill, i def. rec you watch this!!!! (then come find me. we can cry about it together.)

starter for: @ki-jung
location: Satellite Sports Complex
The sounds of crashing plates and machines whirring filled the atmosphere. The cacophony of sounds felt almost melodic in a way; a soundtrack that played behind the heavy breathing that came from James. “Fuck.” The male panted, with sweat dripping down his face. He pulled off his shirt and wiped the sweat. “This sucks. You do this all the time?” He asked, looking at the other.
In front of James was a punching bag. Boxing was supposed to be fun. It at least looked fun in Creed and Rocky. “I feel like I’m gonna pass out.”

I just finished the amended update! Everything is really starting to make sense. Being able to see how they spiraled really puts it all in perspective. I can totally see why Bella was so irritated when she first saw him again.
It was crazy to see that just about everyone knew they were in love with each other except themselves. And that it was selfish possessive people the helped keep them apart. Still, I feel like they wouldn’t have been good for each other as teens. They needed to grow up big time. I’m also kinda proud of jungkook? He was in a terrible headspace and in a really toxic relationship and yet I do think he was able to change. I wonder what finally kicked him in to gear? Was it that last fight with belle? It also made me even more upset for Bella. I do feel a bit like Landon pressured her and trapped her in a relationship. I know she loves her children and I do too but I can’t help but see how much she had to give up. (Or felt like she had to give up cus you can go to school and have kids!) oh and now we got to see that Jazmin was just as terrible as Landon 🤢 man she sucked.
This chapter hurt a bit but I’m looking forward to the conversation (and fluff?) that present jungkook and Bella have!! —🐮anon
Haha, I love that you reference JK's family when he and Isabella were going to get married, and he was all "oh geez how am I going to explain this?" and his family was justl ike "FINALLY JESUS." The relief we now know they must have felt, since they always thought Isabella was the greatest thing to happen to him 😭
I think you make a lot of good points about the "what ifs" and that it might not have been better another way, even if the loss of that possibility is tragic to look back on. JK definitely had a lot of growing up he needed to do in terms of what's appropriate to expect from someone else and how to handle fear and disappointment and rejection. We'll hear him talk a little bit more about that period of time, a few little additions to what he's told us before (about Ara, backpacking around Asia, wanting to be the opposite of Yoo Ki-jung and help people like Isabella, etc.)
As for the Landon - Isabella, that whole situation hurts me. I would never judge the choice someone makes in a situation like that, and we know she adores her children now. But it was definitely a hard road for her that left her dependent on men who were no good, and she did not have the emotional independence at the time to make the choice she seemed to really want to make, which is tragic.
There is definitely fluff ahead, I get all giddy and blushy about the remaining chapters. Talking through this stuff will hurt but I think be cathartic, and there are some fun things ahead 😉
