The Warning With Steve Schmidt:

Four years ago today, after losing a presidential election, Donald Trump incited an insurrection against the US Constitution. His mob stormed the Capitol, pissed on the walls and shat on the floors. They did $1.5 million in damage, caused injuries to at least 174 of Capitol police officers, and caused the deaths of five people. Trump will soon pardon the January 6 criminals, lionize them, and hang medals around their necks. Have no doubt about this. Meanwhile, Elon Musk has denounced Nigel Farage, the leader of the UK Reform Party, saying that he is unfit to lead it. He has also stepped up his interference in the forthcoming German elections. He has also begun severely limiting criticism of himself and others on X with a social media scoring system that is straight out of China.

The Washington Post is in a state of collapse. The paper’s best political writers, journalists and commentators are like the first-class passengers on Titanic being lowered into half-filled life boats taking them to the Wall Street Journal and The Atlantic, but the truth is that there aren’t enough life boats for all. Everyone is going to want off a ship that is sinking into disgrace. Whatever private commitments were made between the Graham family and Bezos when he bought The Washington Post regarding its stewardship have been shattered. The most incredible part about the capitulations — which are not the least bit surprising — is how quickly they happened, and without so much as a soft whimper or scuffle.

By doing so, most editorial leaders of these institutions have demonstrated the only place they are truly fit to work is the Trump White House. There, they could combine the practice of moral appeasement, fecklessness, dishonesty, weakness and self-interest with being cheered, promoted and celebrated. Instead, these low men and women have to face the reality that the person staring back at them in the mirror is a different version of Lindsey Graham — only they call themselves journalists as opposed to senator. The farce is the same. The cowardice is the same. The record will show that when the starting gun sounded nobody came close to Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski with their Usain Bolt-like dash to Mar-a-Lago. Bezos must look at them through his capitulant lens as visionaries. Perhaps they will have the opportunity to summer aboard Koru, his yacht, with the Lady Sanchez in the south of France. Given that Bezos has green-lit a Melania documentary that explains her reemergence from witness protection, maybe she could be there as well, softly purring about her deep love of Donald and America.

[...] Jeff Bezos, Sam Altman, Elon Musk, and all the rest of America’s oligarchs hold the American people in contempt. Because they do, they can’t see the character of the steelworker, trucker, nurse, teacher or cop. They only see one thing, and that in the end, is why this whole miserable MAGA project will crash and burn. They are locusts preparing to swarm to engorge themselves even though they feel no hunger and want for nothing. Donald Trump will keep pushing until someone, somewhere, some day, effectively pushes back again. I hope that day comes soon because until then they are going to be full speed ahead. By the time the inaugural address is over there will be perfect clarity around what must be fiercely opposed as indecent and un-American.

Steve Schmidt’s column is on the nose here. It’s insulting to see so many people and institutions obey in advance and capitulate to Trumpism, especially the Washington Post.

I have the need to share a list of my favorite characters and my sub categories for them (which is split into three things, 1 favorite characters that I can't put through the horrors cause then I'll feel bad, 2 characters I COULD put through the horrors but I'm not fully inclined to do that, and 3 characters I can and will put through the horrors) plus some extra characters at the end (also I found out the hard way on this post that there's a 30 tag limit here... I think I have a problem I like too many characters)

First off characters I can't put through the horrors cause then I'll feel bad:

Mia Winters: wife.... (Although she gets put through stuff but not enough for me to consider the horrors)

Angela orosco (remake), Anya (mouthwashing), Zoe baker, and Daisuke (mouthwashing): they've been through enough I think they need a cozy therapist, some food, and a nice vacation.

Missing kids (FNAF), Evan Afton, regular Elizabeth Afton, Gregory, Cassie, Eveline, young Sherry Birkin, and Laura (silent Hill 2 remake): they're kids and I would feel so fucking bad putting them through the horrors plus most of them already have gone through the horrors (I may have missed some characters I like that go in this category)

Swansea (mouthwashing), jack baker, and Marguerite baker: they're old and have been through enough I wanna let them have a nice time for once

Characters I could put through the horrors but haven't exactly wanted to:

Piers nivans: love him but also I haven't really thought of any horrors to put him through (although this may change at some point)

Curly (mouthwashing): I wanna give him some nice things and let him kind of redeem himself but out of the mouthwashing crew he would be the one I'd put through the horrors

Rebecca Chambers: I need to play re0 before actually putting her through any horrors

Adult Sherry Birkin: despite the fact that she's one of Leon's unofficial daughters she's one of the few people near leon that has been spared from the horrors (there's a reason there's her as a kid and her as an adult on this list and I'll probably talk about it in another post)

Claire Redfield: I put her through the horrors one time and don't have much else for her to go through (although like all resident evil characters that are on this list that can change at any moment)

Ada Wong: she's too badass to actually get into a situation where the horrors happen... Maybe one day

Luis Serra: he's cool enough for me to bring him back to life but not cool enough to escape my potential grasp

Characters I can and will (and probably already have) put through the horrors:

Michael afton: my go to bitch for random bullshit because he's always somehow in my brain

Death swap Elizabeth Afton: she gets a free ride here for simply being Micheal's "twin" (they're classified as twins in my au since they swapped with each other so they have the exact same life up until Micheal got added to the gang)

Mike Schmidt (FNAF movie): I love him dearly but he's a pathetic wet cat of a man and he needs to be put in a blender

Ethan Winters: he's just so easy to put through the horrors I mean have you seen his face

Leon s Kennedy: idk he just lached onto my brain and won't let go so I said "fuck it why not" and now he's even more fucked up than he originally was in the first stages of the resident evil section of my au

Chris Redfield: I hate him/j he gets a free ride on account of being Leon's boyfriend and also I have fake beef with him

Ashley Graham: free ride on account of her being Leon's other unofficial daughter

Helena harper: I like her and really wanna do something with her but I can't think of anything

Jake muller: hes just simply related to Wesker/j I could do something with him but like with Helena I can't think of anything

Eddie Dombrowski (remake): I feel bad for him but the line of him enjoying killing the dog made me not like him as much

James Sunderland (remake): going into watching a play through of the game knowing his reputation is "wife guy evil edition" made my vision of him always a little ehh and ended up liking him less at the end (I went in knowing he probably killed his wife and what do you know he did)

Characters I hate:

Jimmy (mouthwashing): ... Do I really need to explain

William Afton: literally the worst guy ever fuck him
