Ok, but when have we actually SEEN a good LGBTQ ship being DEVELOPED AND WRITTEN PROPERLY?

Like with Percabeth, you can see their development over the course of the series. WHEN HAVE WE SEEN THAT WITH GAY MALES OR LESBIAN FEMALES? I've never seen it (if you have, though, tell me please.)

We almost never get gay characters as major characters. Sure, Piper Mclean is bisexual, but we never knew it until the literal END of Trials of Apollo even though she was a major character in HOO and even starred as a side character for Trials of Apollo. Was her POV in HOO about discovering her bisexuality and coming out? No. Piper's representation is so shoved in that it barely counts, TBH. Though that is just my opinion on this matter-no need to agree with it.

And Nico di Angelo is gay, but his rep was handled terribly. A forced coming out, and being paired off with a random side character to 'prove' his gayness. Also, Will being a terrible partner for Nico (sharing his medical information without authority, and being someone's doctor and boyfriend is problematic for boundaries. Nico could have had another doctor. Seriously, are there no Athena kids in the infirmary, or no trainee Apollo kids?).

I'm just saying that I'm not sure if Solangelo is good representation because we don't really get any development and whatever development there is on Nico's side is somewhat deteriorated. We don't even get much of Will as a character. No development at all.

And with the lesbian couple, Jo and Emmie, in ToA? No development-plus they got kicked out of a supposedly safe space for being lesbians. Very problematic.

And Piper and Shel? NOTHING. No page time. None whatsoever. No development or good writing.

Lavinia and Poison Oak? We're told, not shown. We don't even see Poison Oak.

Fierrochase is the only developed ship, and even then, it's a little rushed. (Just my opinion).

As soon as Jo told him who was out the door his entire mood was ruined. Leo didn't need this. He didn't need his shit cousin to come knocking at his door asking to reconcile.

Leo said he'd handle it and walked out, slaming the door closed. Leo just glared at him.

"What the fuck do you want?" He couldn't even answer, just stared at him in concern. Probably at how fucked up his body looked. Leo didn't even need him to answer.

"Nevermind don't answer that. I know what you want. And I know what I want. I want you to leave. I don't have time for your bullshit."

"Okay, so you're mad at me, I-"

"Look, I don't care. Were you also a child? Yes. Could you do anything? No. Do I give a single shit? No. I don't want any more relations to you people than I have to. If we start hanging out, then Rosas gonna find out, then Helenas gonna find out, then Armondo, then everyones gonna be on our asses and they're gonna beat the shit out of me because 'I brainwashed you'. And probably try to excorcise you."

"I've kept the secret for this long."

"Really? That explains the extra car in front of our house." He said and he looked back. Oh shit.

"I'm pretty sure the only reason she hasn't gotten out is she knows I actually live here so she can't attack me at all." He pointed a middle finger at her.

"But why wouldn't she talk to me about it?"

"Who knows the way of the bitch?" Leo snickered and Raph looked back at him.

"You can figure it out yourself. Fuck off." He demanded and Raph stood there for a second in shock before following his instructions. He knew they hurt him but not this much. He didn't expect him to forgive him right then and there but he didn't expect it to be so straight-forward and... vulgar. But he can't blame him. Not like before.

Leo watched him walk away and took a breath when he saw Rosa yelling at him. Satisfaction.

Hey don't you think it's funny how we don't get a specific age for Leo's cousin, Raphael? (Not TMNT people, don't get it confused!) Anyway! Here!

Raphael was conflicted. He loved his cousin. But his mom hates him. So he tried to play with him as much as he could with his other little cousins. But one by one they all avoided him. Raph stayed until he could until his mom noticed him playing with him and kept him by her side whenever they were around. He was 9 when he got the news his Tìa Esperanza had died. He heard his mother screaming at him when they were at the police place. Everyone said Leo had killed her. And he believed it when he didn't deny it.

He yelled at him. Asking how could he do this? It broke his heart that he made his best friend cry harder. Leo apologized, saying it was an accident but he didn't care at the time. He punched him. His dad took him out to calm him down as his Mom took care of the rest. He remembers his life getting worse from there. His Mom went into depression and soon started drinking herself to sleep. His parents fought more and eventually got a divorce with 50-50 within a year.

His dad showed him how much he loved him and that he was there if he needed anything. That it wasn't his fault. It was Leos. Even after his breakdown in that room he still felt bad. He didn't want to. He was a muderer. He ruined their family. But Raph felt that that was wrong to say. Something more had to have happened.

By the time he was 12 he decided he needed to find him. Wanted to make up for how his family treated him and get the full story. He needed closure.

His mom was remarried by then and was doing better. His stepdad didn't care for him so they ignored each other.

His dad on the other hand was doing great. Took him everywhere, did a lot of searching and found out he wasn't religious, and found a wonderful girlfriend. They've grown closer since the first day and do everything together. They gave him a computer for his 12th birthday and he thanked them. They set it up and left him alone for a while.

He looked up his cousin. He got nothing. He emailed the lawer that was in charge of Leo's situation. He took the card out of the trash when his Mom tried to throw it away that day. The lawer said he "wasn't in charge of that freak anymore". Raph asked more and more questions and finally got the current social worker when he was 13. But realized he had no way to get there. None of his parents would approve of it and disown him. So he emailed them and said to wait a few years.

He immediately got into driving when he was 15 and looked for jobs. He met his girlfriend. She moved from Guatemala with her parents and he helped her with her homework and other things. And made it official. A year later he told her the situation with Leo and she understood. She said that it was weird that the door mysteriously locked but felt the same way about it being harsh how his family dissed him so quickly as he was obviously mentally ill and just needed help.

It took years to find him. But when they did Raph was 17. He was adopted by a couple in Indianapolis who had another daughter. Raph had a car, a house, and a good job by then. They decided to go job searching there. It took a while but they found somewhere to stay. He was excited but nervous. 8 years.

He didn't even have to knock when the door opened by a dark woman with grey hair in a bun.

"Hello, sir."

"Hello. I'm uh... I'm looking for Leo Valdez?" She raised an eyebrow her smile dropping.

"You with CPS?"

"No! No. I uh... I'm his cousin." He said and she glared and he gulped. Oh this was going to be fun.

Also, I understand Will Solace is Bisexual in TSATS- however, in as few words as possible, there are so many retcons in TSATS that contradicted canon, so I do not see TSATS as canon. Reasons why are a whole essay that I do not want to write.

Because of this, I still see Will as Gay, as do many others in this fandom. There is absolutely no disrespect intended from this-remember, this is a fictional book series about fictional characters. We are allowed to interpret characters in different ways, and I just so happen to interpret Will as Gay.

Please do not get upset over this, all character interpretations are just as valid as yours. Thank you.

How Rick could have portrayed Calypso

Don't you think that it would be so much cooler if Rick had portrayed Calypso as a mother figure instead of a teenager? She could remind Percy of Sally, ironically, because she wants him to stay (but won't force him to) and she's so angry with the gods because this boy is so YOUNG, only 13. And Percy loves her a bit like a mother, and he resolves to make the gods free her if he can.

And when Leo crashes up on his island, barely older than Percy, Calypso doesn't really know if the war's been won or not, so she asks him, and he tells all, but instead of blaming Percy, she blames the gods again. And she reminds Leo of Esperanza and he comes back for her, and maybe she could join the Waystation and be friends with Jo and Emmie or something-just not an icky romance plot. Just a thought of mine.

ToApril Day Thirteen: Curse of Eternal Youth

Gasping awake, Leo sat up in his bed, shaking in fear.

It didn't happen, it didn't happen, it didn't happen. He thought as he sobbed into his knees.

"Leo, hun, it's okay." Someone said hugging him and he let them leaning into them. They rubbed his back and he just let himself go. Full on ugly crying.

"Oh, Leo..."

"I don't wanna, Jo, I don't wanna die." He cried and she held him tighter, kissing his head.

"No. No, you're not gonna die. Not while you're living with us. We won't let that happen. You're safe here. You're not going to die, hun, I promise." She assured holding him close, hand in his hair. He cried for a long time holding onto her for dear life cause he's here. He's here, he's alive, and he's loved. It took almost an hour for him to stop crying and she offered him a cup of water. When he gulped it down, he felt so much better. A giant weight was lifted off of his shoulders since... forever.

He had a small snack and more water and was wide awake since years ago. He was safe here. He was loved here. And he's finally happy.

Maybe it's for the better. I mean they hate you when you are being payed attention to. Remember when you came back? They cared so much they bruised you. You can't even get loved as a hero.

Isn't that depressing? Isn't that terrible? Love can't even love you.

Maybe that's why you're on the ground, in the middle of nowhere, on the run again. Everyone left. You tried. And it wasn't enough.

Starving, tired, and alone, it'll take a few days for you to die and you couldn't care less. They'll find your body and wonder why you would leave again and say they love you while crying. Or maybe a monster will find you first. You just... don't care.

You have no friends, no family. Nothing. No one. And as you close your eyes for the last time, you smile. Because you'll see your mom again. And that's all you've ever wanted.

Can we take a moment and appreciate how Jo and Emmie in TOA foster Leo after losing his family so many times due to being a demigod is just *chiefs kiss* best found family trope.

Cuz not only is Jo a professional mechanic witch leo can relate too and bond with, Emmie is kind and treats him with such love that Leo deserves, Lityerses too. And I will always always ALWAYS claim til this day him and lit are brothers and lit feels so bad for what he had done in the past and helps leo mourn over Jason (telling him how he stabbed commodus and trying his best to be there for leo)

Anyway lit, leo, and Georgina best siblings they are my babies

What is in your opinion a) the best Sapphic ship and b) what are your headcanons for them?

This has been in my ask box since may, and it’s been on my mind for a while.

So sorry I took ages to answer, I was waiting to finish the series so that I’d have all the relevant info (I’d heard Thalia x Reyna is a thing and I wanted to see for myself) don’t worry I HAVEN’T FORGOTTEN ABOUT YOU-

Also, Life has gotten pretty badly in the way of things lately.

Tbh I haven’t really seen/paid attention to the sapphic ships in PJO.

Currently, drafting this before BoO, I’d say it’s probably Ruegard (Selena x Clarisse). While I very much think Beckendorf and Selena were in love, you can’t have two same-sex characters parallel Patroclus and Achilles and NOT have them be queer-coded (Unless Rick genuinely believed that Patrochillies really were just platonic besties, which is objectively false and factually incorrect and gay erasure honestly Rick).

I think Dying For Each Other IS queer culture (Valgrace for LIFEEEE).

While I swear by Aro/Ace Reyna and will die on this hill, the ships she’s paired with are cute dynamics.

- Theyna is badass. It gives similar vibes to Buffy x Faith from Buffy the Vampire Slayer (easily one of the non-canon sapphic ships of all time) I just love how when they first met Thalia kidnapped Reyna and Reyna hit her with a chair. I just see that and think “couple goals”.

- @demigod-shenanigans has forced me to think about Pipeyna and honestly yeah they would be really cute. Particularly their dynamic paired with Valgrace. I love Reyna and Jason’s friendship and I love her relationship with Leo.

- Reynabeth (is that a ship? It should be). Daughter of War Goddess x Daughter of War Goddess SUPREME!!!!

But also, we need more aro/ace rep in media. I heart my aro/ace siblings.

Pipabeth is also some of the most sapphic shit I’ve ever seen. I think it’s just RR not really knowing how female friendships work (or maybe it’s me never really having the kinda touchy-feely female friendship I see on TV all the time, and so being unable to comprehend that kind of platonic compassion, but I’m not gonna unpack that here) but you can’t tell me these aren’t two cottagecore lesbians collecting mushrooms and building a fence and shit that cottagecore lesbians do.

Also shoutout to Rachabeth and basically any sapphic Annabeth ship. She is bi in my mind.

Shelper is underdeveloped. There is so much potential in a mortal x demigod relationship that was explored a little bit with Perrachel but never fully. I need to write a fic about them at some point.

I was writing something earlier and ended up maybe starting a Nyssa x Lavinia ship (hardened grunge Lesbian x bubblegum Lesbian)

But my favourite???

EMMIE AND JO!!!

We NEVER get sapphic romances for old people. I NEED a spinoff about them. I mean, you’ve got the forbidden romance from being in the Hunters of Artemis turned marriage (Idk if they’re canonically married or not but they are in my mind) and you’ve got them being badass fighters and you’ve got them being moms to Leo and Georgina and basically everyone at the waystation. It seems like “giving up immortality for each other” is Rick’s standard for “true love” and Emmie and Jo did exactly that. I love them sm.
