Gosh I love emotionally dysregulated disaster women in media. Even if they're incredibly capable otherwise, I love it when they just Can't in the feelings department. Women who are disgruntled wet cats. Women who don't smile when they're supposed to. Women who break stuff when they're angry. Women who cannot ever talk about the thing that happened to them. Women who care deeply but don't know how to be nurturing. Women who are rough and sharp and always too loud or too quiet and don't know the right things to say. Women with ugly, ungraceful feelings that come out in ways they don't mean. Women who wipe blood from their mouths and say something rude and keep getting up.

here’s a bunch more DCSHG art!  I don’t draw these characters much anymore since the show has ended and I’ve moseyed on to other things, but it was nice to revisit them once again.

I really liked the concept of Jess having two moms, despite us not getting to learn much about them in the show itself. I can only guess what their personalities could have been, but I like to think they could have been a lot of fun if given time to shine.

also the last comic’s script is shamelessly stolen in part from Cul-de-sac, which is a comic strip I will always tell people to go read if you like Calvin & Hobbes, Big Nate or if you just wanna read one of the best newspaper comics ever made

i like the dc ya graphic novels in concept but why do they always have such bad characterization for their pre-existing characters? they also refuse to actually use any characters supporting casts so its just a character you've never met wearing the name of a character you know while surrounded by ocs. these books could be really cool out of continuity looks at characters from typically oppressed groups for kids, but instead they just change everything about a character to fit their narrative with literally no benefit. their graphic novels are literally always better when its an original character (i.e. galaxy, whistle, primer).
