First up, from the appetizers section are these Sweet Egg Omelettes (Tamago Yaki). Ordered the plain version and the one with mentaiko sauce. Between the two, the one with the cod roe mayonnaise is the better eat as the torched surface gave a smoky flavour while the salty roe and creamy mayo lend to the overall taste. The Century Egg Tofu (Pidan Tofu) came in individual serving cup. Plain silky tofu topped with a blend of century egg yolk and seasoned flying fish roe in mayonnaise and more pidan (皮蛋). Every spoon of it in the mouth is such a delightful flavour bomb.

The red Marinated Baby Octopus (Chuka Iidako) aren't necessary a bad eat, just that I don’t like the gel-like marinate coating it. This dish also frequently found its way into the cold appetizer platter in Chinese wedding dinners.

Dairy free fusion Tamagoyaki
Used the same recipe as before, but doubled the recipe to 12 eggs and subbed the milk with coconut milk. Very velvety and smooth.
12 eggs 6 tbsp coconut milk 2 tbsp corn starch 2 tbsp sugar 2 tsp salt

the nonstick on this pan is scratched, making the omelette was actually a disaster. I'm buying a new pan.

Brought mum to Causeway Point for shopping and had an early dinner at Food Republic. Ordered the Beef Tendon & Tripe Noodles Soup (S$11) from The Hong House Beef Noodles as mum enjoyed it the last time she had it.

I myself went for the Chicken Katsu Omelette Original Curry Rice (S$8.40) from Washoku Goen. It came with an omelette blanketing the white rice and topped with a deep-fried breaded chicken cutlet. The other half of the plate is filled with Japanese curry gravy and potato cubes. The chicken is both crispy and succulent and the curry seasoned more toward savoury and spicy rather than sweet which is a good thing for me.

Made this pudding, first as savory, and then as a sweet version (the one depicted). I also tripled the recipe since I knew there would be more interest for that. Really amazed by how smooth and rich it turned out :)
Japanese microwave pudding
Savory version:
Whip together loosely and strain: 2 eggs 1 cup water 1/2 package dashi powder
Pour into a microwave safe container. Add a loose lid, cook in microwave. My micro is 850 watt, so I used 80% wattage for 5 minutes
Before serving add : a splash of soy sauce a splash of maple syrup
Sweet version:
Whip together loosely and strain: 6 eggs 3 cups milk 1/2 cup sugar vanilla to taste
line the ramekin with: 3-4 tbsp golden syrup
Pour into a microwave safe container. Add a loose lid, cook in microwave.
This time I used 80% for 18 minutes

Komajiro & Kuromi omurice! Neither are super authentic Japanese omurice but I had fun and they tasted good.
Some of the red was ketchup, & some was sriracha. The insides were likely Jasmine rice with diced veggies and some soy sauce.
