It really is impressive how even ninja storm couldn't fix Sakura because Kishimoto was just that bad when it came to writing her. Yeah I know all the female characters suffered but Sakura is pretty lmao across all boards.

Man, I have gotta get back to ninja storm... I just beat up Danzo and took a break LOL

I think a lot of characters got left by the wayside, but Sakura... hurts, because she was ALMOST really good? Like obviously, Sakura & Chiyo vs Sasori was a good fight. Not just because of Sakura's growth but because of the POTENTIAL it showed for her to be more!

I'm actually curious how much this game HAS changed that isn't just... logistical changes that come from cutting plotlines or not being able to adapt fights the way they're shown canonically (Sakura bodying Sasori, or her fighting Kabuto to make searching Orochimaru's base less cutscene heavy). Because I hear it changes a lot for the better, but I don't think I've reached any big changes yet?

Except Kurama's attack on Hidden Leaf. THAT was great, I really loved that.

Can you believe that for some people Kakashi sucks as a character since according to them the two most famous things about him are that he reads erotic books in front of kids and that whenever he fights he gets cooked?

I'm telling you this because it really surprised me that someone who has seen Naruto thinks that about him, as if he were nothing more than the books and his fights, someone without development or story. It also bothers me that they say those things about him because yes, he reads those types of books but he doesn't harm anyone and on top of that he reads for himself, he's not like Jiraiya who let Naruto read his manuscripts. And also because he ONLY lost two fights (against powerful people, not random people)

Kakashi reads one type of erotica, which is Jiraiya’s books and he has stated he reads it for the plot so i don’t know why people continue to act like he’s some perv on the same level as Ebisu (has nude magazines) or Jiraiya (Objectifies women, creepy)

Like it’s just one book. Are we gonna start calling everyone who admits to reading porn in public (probably 85% of Tumblr) pervs now???

I will clerify, jiraiya didn’t ‘let’ naruto read those books/proof read them. He kinda forced it on him. Naruto very clearly wasn’t interested/didn’t care and generally doesn’t like reading and when we see him doing it Jiraiya woke him up to get him to read them. Like he shoved it in Naruto’s face and said ‘proof read for me!’

Also so many character’s lost all their fights or won 1 fight and then lost every other fight and never get this kinda shit

We never actually see Jiraiya win a fight, since Orochimaru and Itachi peaced out, and he got OWNED by Pein yet people still think he’s one of the strongest shinobi ever and don’t use his lose against him

Hiruzen very clearly only had one on screen fight and had to use a sacrifice play that only took Orochimaru’s arms, and people still treat him like he’s super strong

Tsunade never even got a major fight, Naruto overshadowed her in the one major fight we see her in against Orochimaru and Kabuto, and no one is calling her weak

Sasuke got his butt handed to him in more fights than Kakashi ever did, but he’s one of the two strongest shinobi in the world so ofc no one doubts his power

What is it about Kakashi where people see him lose two fights

1) where he made a mistake of looking in Itachi’s eyes and which we get to see him make up for the next time they meet

2) against a f***ing god tier shinobi that he still almost managed to outsmart with Choji and Choza’s help and destroy the main pein body of

And start treating him like he’s some weakling?

He ran circles around Zabuza and straight up states he let Zabuza hit him as much as he did so he ‘stunk’ (aka was drenched in blood for the hounds to find). Zabuza survived because of Haku

Kakuzu had FIVE hearts and destroying two in one swoop took Naruto out of the fight, but Kakashi fought against him longer, protected team ten, and was running circles around hidan who couldn’t even get a small cut on Kakashi (which was all he needed to win the fight)

Him and Gai destroyed the Seven deadly swordsmen who are recognized as being some of the strongest shinobi

Obito had all of the hax and skill wise was still just on par with Kakashi who has zero hax (you can’t count the sharingan cuz it drains his chakra so even though it gives him uchiha specific abilities it also harms him to use)

Put him against any normal level shinobi he’s owning them without breaking a sweat, and even against elite shinobi he’s kicking ass

Put him against a god tier shinobi like pein, or a haxed out shinobi like Obito, and he’s still putting up a fight. Even when Pein win’s it was not easily and Kakashi made it very clear he was not to be taken lightly.

People really took this complex amazing character and dumbed him down to the two stupidest traits

Like they’re ignoring so much about him

His trauma which causes him to be both very flawed but also very protective

His journey through life thinking it was his duty to die for his village, only to live through a war and reach retirement with his best friend after years of thinking he was just fooder for the military machine

The closure he gets with Obito and Rin’s death

His goofy nature

His kindness, to the point where he continues the land of waves mission even though they’re not getting the appropriate pay for the level because he recognizes it’s the right thing to do

The small ways in which we see him grow. Like he told Sasuke to give up on revenge and Sasuke left (Kakashi doesn’t know exactly why he left, so it’s possible he fully blames himself) and then when Team Ten is going out to do the same instead of deterring them he helps them because he realizes they’re going to go regardless of if they have permission. That’s what sasuke did. At least if he goes with them he can try and make sure they don’t die (which we see him do in the fight)

There’s so much to Kakashi and people who dumb him down to what he reads and the entire two fights he lost are honestly really pathetic. You don’t have to like him but don’t act like he’s not a complex interesting character people enjoy for valid reasons

Jiraiya had a better plan than Aiko did.

...At least, he promised that it was. "Tsunade and I can do it," Jiraiya swore. His face was locked in the same grimace it had been for the last hour. Debating the best way to kill a former teammate did not seem pleasant. "If we can get her on board, we can do this. We'll take down Orochimaru, while you run interference on his people."

"Can we get her on board?" Aiko asked dully. She rubbed her thumbs against her cold coffee cup. It was long-since empty, but her assistants had cut her off of caffeine for the day. Supreme executive power was clearly working out so well. Sure, she could fire and jail Nishikawa for the impudence, but then who would make her appointments, update her calendar, and remind her who needed to be assassinated this week? She was stuck with the bastard.

"We have to." Jiraiya cast a dark glance out the window, into the night sky. There was nothing to see except the outline of city buildings in hazy, distant streetlight. But he seemed transfixed. "Look, the Sandaime is not going to give us anyone," he admitted. "He is seriously mistrustful of you and Minato. My attachment makes my judgment suspect by extension- he won't agree to move fast enough to meet your deadline. Even if he did- there's not many people in Konoha I would trust to bring with me for this. I can't waste lives against Orochimaru."

Aiko sighed. "I don't like it," she said. "In a pinch, I'll bring both Mei and Utakata. But if either one of them dies, it would be crippling to Kirigakure's structure."

"So we can't let them die," Jiraiya said bluntly. "Look, against Orochimaru… I would not bring anyone who is not kage material. But he's going to have allies. We need to have allies as well, or we're going to get cut down."

"We need to make a call one way or the other on Suna." Aiko ran her hands through her hair. "If we don't ask them, they could take it as an insult. If we include them, the insult to the Sandaime regarding his exclusion is stronger."

"It's always better to have fewer people angry with you," Jiraiya said philosophically. "It's much easier to figure out who is trying to kill you when there's less than 20 suspects."

Aiko gave him a disbelieving look. She sincerely doubted there had been a 2-day period in the last 30 years when less than 20 people had been actively trying to kill him.

He did not seem to notice her doubt. "Should we go to Suna now, then?"

...how was he still alive?

"Let's wait until business hours," Aiko said. She did not look at the clock, because nothing good came of that after 3am. "But also, I would not contact anyone who is currently in Suna. The real power is Temari."

Jiraiya took a moment to place the name. He leveled her with an unimpressed look. "The 14 year old genin?"

Wasn't Temari 15, going on 16? If Gaara was 13, and Kankurou was the middle child, Temari had to be older than 14.

"She's a chuunin now," Aiko said, as though that made a huge difference. "And she'll probably be the next Kazekage. They're promoting her asap. Her political star is rising." Even she had a hard time injecting enthusiasm into this idea.

"Is it," Jiraiya said flatly. "What did you do? Is she here?" His jaw tightened.

"In Kirigakure? Where it would be convenient for me to talk with her?" Aiko scowled. "Don't be stupid," she said. She waited just enough enough for him to relax. "I moved her to an ally in the Daimyo's court after you got here, I didn't want you sneaking around. So thanks."

"Very stealthy, I like that you hide things for no reason and interfere in every country you see. But that maneuvering isn't going to help if she gets killed against Orochimaru," Jiraiya snapped back. He took two jerky steps away and then stopped himself. "Forget Suna, then. Anyone who comes with us has to be A-class, bare minimum."

His tone didn't allow for argument. Not that she really wanted to argue with that. She wasn't looking to bring home body bags, or risk calling on her god.

Aiko had to grimace. Temari would get to that level of strength, but she wasn't there now. Baki would fit the bill, but he was too loyal and she had no personal relationship with him. Baki wouldn't subvert Temari's orders, and she would certainly demand to come along with.

The only contact from Suna she knew who was accessible and powerful… was Gaara.

Utterly unacceptable. No matter how clever or strong he was, he was too young and vulnerable to trauma. He needed more time. She refused to expose him to Orochimaru. "No Suna, then," she agreed. "We'll tell them it was a total accident that we stumbled onto Orochimaru and killed him without inviting them. They won't mind being left out."

Her life was an unending disaster.

Jiraiya snorted. "Plausible." He stretched. "We should get some sleep. Tsunade won't thank us for waking her up."

"No, but it would be a quicker way to die than a fight against Orochimaru," Aiko mumbled. "Fail to protect your head and it'd be all over. We should keep it in mind as an option."

There was a moment that felt off. Jiraiya turned from the window and looked at her directly with the beginnings of a frown. Then he seemed to shake it off. He ducked his head and snorted. "I, for one, want to live. We'll find her after 10 am."

Aiko opened her mouth to make a reflexive crack about it being a shame, but she held herself back. She nodded instead, and went home for the few hours of sleep she could afford to fit in.

Tsunade had not gone far since Aiko had tracked her down. Jiraiya knew offhand where to find her, which made Aiko feel sadder for him than she knew she had capacity for. She caught herself hoping that she did not end up outliving all of her loved ones and relationships, and then choked on the stupidity of the thought. She had to grit her teeth not to let out a laugh.

She was more alone than Jiraiya was. Tsunade was still alive, at least. The only person who really knew Aiko was Minato, and she didn't know him. There were plenty of people who looked like her loved ones walking around, but they were functionally strangers who wouldn't be more than disappointed if she died tomorrow.

'That's not true. I have Obito. I always have Obito.'

What a fucking blessing. She still had the madman who kidnapped her, lied to her, and dug out her eyes to feed them to Zetsu. Murdered her parents. Given her all sorts of interesting neurosis and nervous disorders. He was the truest of bros.

'Good old Obito. Thank god I'm not alone in the world.'

She really did laugh at that. It bordered hysteria. Jiraiya gave her an unnerved look, but did not ask. Luckily, Tsunade exited the gambling hall about ten minutes later, glowing with a good mood. She was well and truly hammered.

It wasn't even noon. Was she already drunk, or was she still drunk?

She took a moment to watch Tsunade stumble on the pathway. Like, this was worse than Aiko was used to. Aiko had never realized that Tsunade had cut back on her drinking when she'd returned to Konoha. God, this was what she had done for a decade and a half? Shizune noticed them first, and tugged on her mentor's sleeve nervously. Tsunade did not react to the tug, cheerily barreling forward. That was a bad sign.

Jiraiya seemed to think so as well. He looked pained, and then pulled on a smile. "Tsunade-hime," he sang. Her head snapped up and she instantly looked more alert.

Aiko took a prudent step away from Jiraiya. Anyone who Tsunade made eye contact with was in the danger zone.

The movement caught Tsunade's eye. Her stare locked onto Aiko. Oh no. "You," Tsunade said. She frowned. "I remember you." She raised a finger accusatively.

Jiraiya gave Aiko an alarmed and sympathetic look.

"You told me..." Tsunade wavered, and then scowled. "That was depressing. I didn't want to know any of that."

Ah. "That didn't make it any less true," Aiko said firmly. She felt like she was talking to Fukiko, when the girl wanted to skitter away from an unpleasant topic. "You should do something."

Tsunade tossed her hair and made a high-pitched whine. Then she slumped dramatically. Shizune barely caught her. "I don't want to," she wailed.

Sanbi made a sound of disgust. Aiko's stomach rolled in agreement. It was terrible to see Tsunade acting so pathetic. This was the most powerful woman in the world, the titan of Aiko's childhood. A living legend. The woman who Aiko had modeled herself after, whose orders she had followed into fucking hell and back on faith.

Aiko realized that she was making a fist. With effort, she unclenched it. "Tsunade-sama," she said, in as calm a voice as she could manage. "You need to grow the fuck up."

The air felt very dangerous all of a sudden.

Aiko took an aggressive step forward anyway, because she was pissed off. "I do lots of shit that I don't want to do, because I am the only one who can do it. A fairly central premise of adult life is that you fucking deal when someone needs you to. And this?" She waved her hand at Tsunade. "This is not dealing. Do you care about your family? I'd hope so, but even if you can forgive that, who else can or will take responsibility for the rest of that shit?" Disgust colored her tone. "The Sandaime gave up a long time ago. He's complicit. Is anyone else going to stop it? You have no idea what kind of body count Danzo has in Konoha."

"Wait, what?" Jiraiya looked seriously alarmed. "What are you talking about?"

Aiko spared him a glance. "Danzo is a traitor," she explained. She looked back to Tsunade. "He's been eliminating possible rivals for leadership for a very long time. Cooperated with Orochimaru- oh, he was probably a large part of why Orochimaru turned to human experimentation and got banished, by the way. He kidnapped hundreds of children and made them fight to the death to make the survivors his ideal soldiers. Been killing Konoha shinobi and citizens, many of them for the purpose of stealing their genetic material. He has 11 sharingan eyes, and material from the Shodaime on his body alone. God only knows what he's had done to his expendable followers."

Tsunade was covering her ears, but it was clear that she could hear every word. Jiraiya was watching Aiko recite the list with open-mouthed horror. Shizune was the only one who seemed remotely composed- but then, she was both sober and had been piecing some of this together from the reports.

"You're right," Sanbi said, with potent condescension. "Now is the best time possible for this discussion and scolding. When you desire this woman's assistance. How clever of you."

The turtle was right.

Aiko deliberately took in a long, slow, exhalation and reached for calmness. "We didn't come here for this discussion," she said. She managed to make it sound halfway apologetic. "Tsunade-sama."

Jiraiya gave a grim nod.

Tsunade hiccuped. Shizune stepped forward, putting her body between Tsunade and Jiraiya and Aiko. "Now isn't the best time," she said firmly. "Jiraiya-sama, Mizukage-sama. Another day would be much better."

"We don't have the time for that!" Jiaiya ran his hands through his hair and shifted his feet. "Tsunade-hime," he pleased. If she had been sober, she might have killed him for the gentle way he leaned over to put their faces level. "Please. I am begging you. Put yourself together. I need you." His voice broke. "I can't do this without you."

Aiko couldn't breathe. Watching this hurt, but she couldn't look away.

Tsunade wavered, making eye contact. Her lips moved silently. Her brow furrowed. And she turned her face to vomit onto the grass.

The sound Jiraiya made was outright painful to hear.

Shizune supported Tsunade in a way that told of familiarity. She didn't look at either of them. "Jiraiya-sama," she said. "Mizukage-sama." Her voice was tiny and ashamed. "We can't help you. I'm sorry. There isn't going to be a good time for you to have this discussion with Tsunade-sama."

Jiraiya took two steps back, gaze locked on Tsunade. He was a wounded animal. He nodded. "Yeah." He cleared his throat. "Yes." He looked away. "Do you have a hotel for the night? I'll at least… I'll help."

Shizune twitched, just a bit, in Aiko's direction.

Ah, yes. She was an interloper to their grief.

Before Shizune could turn Jiraiya down, Aiko cleared her throat. She plastered on a mildly interested and pleasant expression, although no one was looking at her at all. "Jiraiya-san, I'll leave you to catch up." She tossed her hair over her shoulder and remembered that she ought to tie it up. Her heart was nearly down to her stomach. "It seems that we are changing our plans for tomorrow, which means that I have my own errands to run."

There was another person present, another man with light colored hair. He knelt at Tsunade's side with a heartbroken expression. He was the only person to look over at Aiko. They made eye contact. He didn't seem at all surprised when she looked directly at him. He gave her a slow, defeated look, and then a nod before he turned back to Tsunade.

She swallowed. "I'll give you two hours. I'll go inform Mei and Utakata to prepare. We can discuss the issue further."

Jiraiya nodded. He hovered, hand nearly resting on Tsunade's back. "That… Good, good plan."

Aiko would have turned and ran away if she was not required to maintain a modicum of dignity. She walked down the block and turned out of sight before she allowed herself to cry. She leaned against a building face and buried her face in her hands. Her eyes burnt.

She hated the sounds of her own ragged breathing, but at least she was a fairly quiet crier. It was turning out to be a useful skillset. The Mizukage couldn't be caught uncomposed. She didn't get to have those feelings. She had no right to cry over seeing how the people she admired were as flawed and lost as she was.

She wiped at her eyes with unkind force, willing the liquid to dry up immediately.

Sanbi made a soft sound of comfort. Aiko wished that he was physically there, because she really wanted a kind touch. She felt like she was going to break apart.

It was, she reflected, a very good thing that Utakata was not there. At this point, she might actually let him hold her.

"You could accept a kindness," Sanbi said.

She hated how soft his voice was. She hated that she needed the gentleness. Aiko shook her head forcefully. "I don't feel the same way that he feels about me," she disagreed. "It's not… It wouldn't be fair. And it wouldn't be appropriate, as his boss." She leaned on him enough, too much. He deserved better than that.

"He would not expect anything," Sanbi argued. "He is your friend."

Aiko used her sleeve to pat her face dry. She used her fingers to make sure that her hair was falling in an attractive way, and then secured it in a braid. She put her head up high, and she thought about Rice Country.

"Fine," Sanbi said. He sounded as defeated as Dan had looked, as Jiraiya looked, as Tsunade obviously was. "Only Terumi, then. We shall not call upon Utakata. He will be hurt," Sanbi mumbled.

Aiko winced.

Sanbi was kind enough not to mention it. "Your masked warriors served you well against the Akatsuki," he went on. "Shall you turn to Temari as well? Perhaps you should directly contact Konoha as well. Orochimaru's former apprentice may aid you, regardless of her country's stance. Your father will stand with you."

"I am tired," Aiko said clearly. She felt her voice shaking. "I am tired of getting other people involved in my problems. I am tired of being responsible for death."

It was all that she fucking lived. She was dead, she was death, she was plague on this world. Everything she did, no matter how petty, seemed to lead to suffering for other people. She'd started fucking around with fuinjutsu that she didn't understand and accidentally pissed off a man so powerful that he could send dozens of people to assassinate her. And she'd killed them.

And their families, when she fucked over Kirigakure by unleashing bijuu on it.

All the tiny little babies that died when the ancient electrical generators in the hospital failed were at her feet. She'd brought them back but the rows, the rows of little cots in the care unit haunted her at night. Splash, splash, blood on the pavement with Jiraiya and Tsunade bickering behind her, just cutting her way through the city full of scared people trying their best. Splash, splash. Back when they were both taller than her and knew what to do, before they became small and old and flawed.

She took in a deep breath, trying to steady herself and-

Anko made a terrible little gasp, lost under the wet sound of Pein ruining her throat. Her face fell, her head fell too. Her body landed separately, spraying blood and spit. Aiko remembered kissing that throat, sucking hard enough to leave bruises above the pulse point and she was dead, she was fucking dead, Konoha was falling and Aiko just wanted to be fucking dead too and she was going to take that bastard with her

Sanbi made a sharp, alarmed sound that pulled her back to the current day. Dumbly, she looked at her hand. It was hovering an inch from her heart. Aiko realized that she was in the process of placing a hiraishin seal on her chest. She swallowed. Slowly, she lowered her shaking hand.

God fucking damnit, her eyes were welling up again. She averted her face when two civilians passed on the street.

'Good job, moron,' she thought, viciously hating herself. 'Blow yourself up here, and you can kill some civilians when you go. That'd be fitting. Fuck over- god, am I in Tea Country? I don't think I've fucked them over before.'

Her personal demon rumbled. He didn't know what to say.

She didn't either, to be honest.

After a long pause, Sanbi managed to break the silence. "You have no intention of contacting your allies," he said. It wasn't a question. He knew.

She felt her stomach lurch. She pushed off the building she'd been leaning against and started off down the street, away from the quiet sounds of people eating lunch in a restaurant. 'I'm sorry,' she said, and meant it. 'I'm sorry that you have to come with me.'

There was a spark of interest, where Sanbi had an idea- and then he dismissed it. She was grateful. She thought she knew what he had considered. If he told her that she was not allowed to die because it would damn him, she would be trapped.

"I am your friend," he said gently.

She blinked fast and dodged a cart. 'I know. You should take me over before I die. Hopefully I'll kill Orochimaru first. No one else would have a chance at holding you.'

Thank you, she meant.

She just… if it all possible, she had to ensure that he wouldn't end up caught in one of Orochimaru's labs, or dissolved to ignominious non-existence for 50 years.

She went to her office. It was quiet, despite work clearly going on outside. Aiko considered writing a note but she didn't have the stomach for it. She pulled on better armor and weapons from her stash there, lingering over the buckle on her forearm protection. But eventually, she was ready. She caught one glimpse of herself in the glass of a cabinet. Pale. She looked pale, with sunken eyes. Her stomach turned again. She left.

The first wave of Sound ninja fought her. Aiko cut them down dispassionately, wondering how many of them were going to reunite with loved ones. Maybe if she killed Orochimaru, the Death God would let her go back to her reality. She hoped that he would free Minato's soul, too. This was no place for the dead.

She stepped over a girl with pink hair. She wondered if this was a relation to Orochimaru's bodyguard, who had died holding the barrier in Konoha.

Aiko blinked, and the girl looked a little like Karin.

She blinked again and the girl was just a skeleton in subpar equipment, grinning up at the sky. "You're lucky," she told the girl. The Sound nin was probably only a couple of years older than Aiko had been when she had died. That girl got to stay dead. Lucky, lucky, lucky. It was good and right and natural, not at all like what the profane human had been doing. It was not acceptable for the living to take from her realm.

Justice rang in her ears, and brought new clarity to the world. She could see it now, in the last vestiges of life seeping into the air from her people, claimed as her children with a short sword. So fragile. She loved them. It made sense now. Her steps were a little faster. Someone was talking from inside her head, but his voice was unimportant for now. Perhaps later, little chakra beast.

There were more servants inside, but she found that she had no interest in them. Perhaps they had received new orders, or perhaps it was simply fear, but they hung back. None of them dared to breathe, as if that would make them invisible to her.

She felt her steps crack. She gave a glance down and noticed that the weight of her passage was breaking the stone she walked on. This world was not big enough. It chafed. The vessel had been stretched and stretched and she could hold herself in this body, but it would not fit well in this place.

"Mizukage-sama."

The thief was waiting for her at the end of the hallway. His posture was languid, but his eyes were ready and sharp. He thought to toy in the affairs of gods.

"I'm afraid that I was not ready to host such illustrious company. You should have sent word." He grinned, but it was bloodless and thin. She could see how his heart was beating too fast, feel the nervous trembles of his chakra. She raised the short sword. Something dripped off the end.

"Not very friendly," the fool said.

And then the servants closed in from behind. The world twisted, as the thief dared call upon what was hers. The white-haired corpse rose again, without the drama of before. It stared at her with black eyes. She felt a spark of sympathy, a hint of possessive fury.

"That's mine," she said, in a voice that bloodied her tongue. Inconvenient, this body. She had to hack to clear enough air for the next words. "I will take it back."

i dont like sasusaku and not even slightest naruhina, but its weird that you hate sakura as a character and not the creator himself. as much as i hate sakura, i used to love her development but all that went to trash right around the ending. honestly they should've just made narusasu a canon because that made more sense and even sakuino made more sense that some of the hetero pairings 🚮

Apart from the first line of your ask, I somehow disagree with everything, Anon.

Let me tell you why.

First off,

SNS becoming canon by holding hands or kissing or walking towards Sunset.... was never going to happen. So expecting that is kind of extremely childish. I was only unhappy because they wanted to go for this Next Gen shit. That made Kishi to marry off every other characters without any development until Chapter 699.

Second off,

I am immensely happy with what I got. That is NaruSasu became Soulmates. One can't exist without the Other, One complement the Other. Even though they have married those girls and have children, I don't think they will die for their families. And they still love each other more than their own families. Point me one popular Shounen with this kind of Development between 2 male Characters???!!! Same case with Ino. I am not Anti-SakuIno or anything. Probably you ship them for their aesthetics. But both the girls are filtered Heterosexual. They don't have any Lesbian Subtexts like SNS has. Since when did Sakura's character had better development, Anon?? You mean that Sasori fight??? You are calling it as a development, and I am still calling it as a Selfish Obsession on her Sasuke-Kun. Sakura took that fight very seriously only after Sasori mentioned the name of Orochimaru. Sakura thought, if she manage to defeat Sasori, she could get information about Orochimaru which inturn will make it easier for her to retrieve Sasuke. She never fought for Gaara or Naruto, which is what she should've done in the first place. Tell me, how is this called as Development??? Just because she repeatedly punch stuffs???

In part 1, she was a total annoying Asshole and in the end she was even more of an Asshole.

It's not like the Author developed her as some Badass Girl and then dumped her for no reason. She was always written to be hated. At no point, I felt the Author made any conscious effort to make her likeable.

You are asking me to blame the creator.... And why should I??? If Kishimoto can write amazing women characters like Tsunade, Konan, Kushina.... Why can't he do that for Sakura as well???

Her body was splitted into Two Halves. It's really gory to look. I think even Danzo had a pretty nice death... I think she is the only character in Narutoverse to have her Torso separated from her Lower Body....

Tell me atleast one moment when Sakura thought about putting her life on the line to save other people??? Or tell me at what point point of the story, Sakura remotely displayed her selflessness???

Let me tell you... If I am an Author and if I want to make a character likeable, the very first thing I would do is, to make that character be nicer to the Titular Character. This is an inherent and unwritten rule. That's exactly why Hinata was liked by many people.... It's funny, people really liked her a lot in Part 1 (not realizing her inherent shittiness)... But he decided to potray her in a wrong way starting from Part 2. If only Sakura was nicer towards Naruto, I repeat nicer... not to love him... people would have liked Sakura more. But all she did was behaving extremely horny towards Sasuke but showing Drainage-level care towards Naruto. And do you really think Kishimoto don't know this logic?? At no point, I've seen her being completely genuine towards Naruto. Even when she wanted to feed him Ramen, she only did it because of Naruto's devotion towards Sasuke.

Throughout part 1, she was an asshole... Towards the end of part 1, she was nice because she needs Sasuke's dick.... And in the beginning of Part 2, She totally was using him to retrieve Sasuke... She cared him here and there.. In the middle of Part 2, she shamelessly fake confessed him.... In the end of Part 2, she was begging Sasuke to like her... She didn't care about Naruto or Tsunade, who were about to be killed by Sasuke...

I am Sorry, I still feel like you are a big Sakura fan and want to make an excuse by pushing the blame on the Creator. Because Hinata fans also always do this same thing... Like pushing the blame on Kishimoto for writing her that way. They never once realise that the character they like was piss poor because the author wanted it that way.

By that logic, I must criticize him for making Sasuke take certain decision which I am not OK with, too... Right???

If your favourite character don't behave in certain way like you expected, then there's only one thing to do. Blame the Author.

If a secondary character like Ino who was very similar to Sakura, got a good development towards the end... There are so many good woman characters inside the Narutoverse. This mission was not like any of the others she had been assigned before. Not ever had Y/n been sent out to play the part of the enemy and then purposefully target her own comrade. Who just so happened to be her boyfriend. But it was all for infiltration and espionage purposes. She had shown up last minute to the designated location after getting the information needed and then picked a fight with Kakashi. Faked her own death, only for her to have snuck off, shadow clown dissipating to nothing but smoke as Kakashi rushed to catch up with her in the forest. 

Yet she had just barely been able to slip away. Kakashi’s improvisation to their overly planned sequence threw Y/n off guard. Adrenaline quick to flush through her body as she moved to escape as quickly as possible before Kakashi struck a kunai through her chest instead of the shadow clown. It was all for the sake of the mission. Now she was still on the move, jumping from tree to tree until she felt it was safe enough to stop and catch her breath. 

Her chest heaved, lungs greedily gulping in as much air as possible, finally being able to ground herself. With her hands on her knees, hunched over with her eyes squeezed shut, still feeling the effects of what just happened coursing through her mind and body. 

“Are you really that out of shape?” A voice rang out behind her, a chill raking up her spine at the sudden presence. She whipped around coming to face her partner. 

“Oh you can go to hell.” She eased up, a glare burning in his direction. 

He smirked under his mask, running a hand through his wild hair, “Stop threatening me with a good time.” He played, taking a step towards her, earning a deep eye roll from his girlfriend and she scoffed. 

“You weren’t following the plan!” She barked, angry enough to yell at him but not enough to stay mad at him. Especially with the way he was looking at her. She knew what was happening, it was always a common occurrence between them.

The spark behind his eyes said it all. Glazed over with wanting and lust. The tell sign that he needed her as soon as possible.

Kakashi had always mentioned how Y/n affected him whenever she was angry. It was something about the way her demeanor flipped completely, all he wanted to do was put her in her place with her tight walls creaming around him. 

He towered over to Y/n’s bent frame, looking down at her, bringing his hand up to caress her face. The gloves he wore, rough against her soft skin as she peered up at him through her lashes. All better judgement went down the drain as she submitted to his gaze, the ache between her legs growing by the second.

The small voice of reason going off in the back of her head. They were in the middle of the forest. Not to mention the fact that they were also on the run from the enemy. Yet that voice grew even smaller as she gave into her desires. Pulling Kakashi by his wrist to a secluded area.

The heat spreading across every inch of her skin was becoming alarmingly noticeable by the second. Her chest rising and falling with quick breaths as she led her boyfriend to a spot she felt was comfortable enough to engage in what they were about to do. 

“Make it quick or else Lady Tsunade will have our heads before those guys do.” Y/n huffed, hands working to unbuckle her own belt. 

A giddy chuckle fell from Kakashi’s lips as he smiled in her direction, earning an eye roll as she let her pants pool at her knees. Just the simple action itself caused the tension in the air to grow thicker. Kakashi watched as she bent herself over in front of him, completely exposed as she placed her hands against the tree trunk in front of her. 

He was quick, as per Y/n’s request, entering her with a strangled grunt. Her walls clenched around his length, making it hard for him to move and stay quiet. Y/n’s teeth ground together in hopes of being silent as well, taking deep breaths from her nose as she basked in the way she stretched to accommodate to his girth. 

It all made her head dizzy, the fact that she was barely able to think straight at the pace Kakashi’s hips pistoned into her was remarkable. 

With slick, sticky skin and heavy breathing Kakashi worked fast to bring them both to their releases. Y/n tried to stay upright against the tree trunk, finding it hard to stay still with the pleasure she was enduring. 

Kakashi brought his hand to lightly clasp around her throat, bringing her upper body to press up against his. His pace not letting up whatsoever. His breath was hot against her ear as he grunted out quietly.

Just that simple action seemed to push her over the edge. Or maybe it was the hand that managed to snake around her front and draw tight circles against her neglected clit. 

Either way, within minutes Kakashi had been able to make Y/n finish as if they weren’t in the middle of the forest, running from the enemy.

A Father's Day Special

“Naruto-kun I’m fine calm down,” Hinata tries to calm her husband as they wait for Sakura in her hospital room, which isn’t really necessary but after she fainted in the bathroom this morning, she suddenly woke up in a hospital bed and when she asked her husband why they are there he just said ‘in case’.

“Hinata just rest, okay? Sakura will be back later with your results,” Her husband said as he sits down in the chair beside her bed and holds her hand.

“I still don’t get it why we need to go to the hospital Naruto-kun, I just fainted one time, maybe it was because… I don’t know… but I know it’s not serious,” Hinata tries to reason out with her husband with their unnecessary trip to the hospital.

“No Hinata, lately you said you felt really sick,”

“That was because you always give me cinnamon rolls and other foods even though I’m not hungry Naruto-kun,”

“Y-you’re right…” Hinata can tell that Naruto just realized that from the look from his face.

“But! You eat them anyways Hinata,” Naruto’s face lit up again from his statement,

“Yes, because you gave them to me,”

“Thank you for that but you can’t deny your appetite is getting big now,” Naruto reason out more to his wife.

“Yes, I know, maybe I became too fat that’s why I fainted,”

“No! You are not fat! Your body is perfect Hinata! I can justify that!”

“Please lower your voice Naruto-kun,” Hinata blushed as she tries her best to warn her husband, worried that the other room might hear him.

“I’m sure it’s nothing serious, I can even see my chakra levels with my own eyes and I’m perfectly fine,” Hinata continued.

“That’s the point, you can see it but I can feel it… there is something,” Naruto said, confused, he doesn’t know how to say it.

“Feel it?”

“Yeah, one time I used my sage mode so I can go home faster when I felt something weird in our home so I rushed inside to only find you alone. First, I thought it was an enemy or an intruder but there is no way you wouldn’t sense it or see it and then I realized that it was not a negative energy I felt, it was… something… I don’t know,” Naruto couldn’t put them into words, it was obvious to Hinata.

“Maybe you’re over thinking this Naruto-kun,”

“You’re right… but just in case,” Naruto said as he held her hand tighter.

Naruto looks more nervous than usual, pacing back and forth in the room, at first he tries to hide it from Hinata but now that Sakura is taking her time with the results, his nervousness is up in the hospital roof and Hinata can feel it.

“Naruto-kun will you please sit down? You’re making me nervous just by looking at you,” Hinata put her arms out for Naruto to take and he did, he sat down beside her in the bed this time.  A while ago Hinata tried to stand up but her husband insisted that she only lay down.

“Why are you even so nervous?” She asks

“I…I don’t know, what if ther-,”

There was a knock on the door which cut Naruto off from what he was about to say. As the door opens, Sakura went in, then comes Ino, then Shizune, then Tsunade. The couple looked at them confused, they were only waiting for Sakura, they didn’t expect for the major Doctors in the hospital to come in the room altogether. This just made Naruto more nervous.

“S-Sakura-chan? And Ino-chan?” Hinata looks at her friends and notices that their eyes and nose are somewhat red.

“Tsunade-baachan, why are you here?” Naruto ask the Fifth Hokage, he knew something was up when he saw Shizune was smiling. He doesn’t want to get his hopes up.

“Ehem!” Tsunade got ready to talk, everybody looking at her to hear what she’s about to say.

“Congratulations. You’re pregnant,” Tsunade said while looking at Naruto in the eyes, with the gentlest smile on her face, then to Hinata, which look liked she didn’t hear her by the look in her face, shocked.

Sakura and Ino’s hand are in their mouth trying to stifle their sobs and Shizune hugged the two girls, Naruto still looking at Tsunade, with tears forming in his eyes, the tightening of Hinata’s hands in his own made him look at his wife.

Hinata is already crying, Naruto’s tears followed. Naruto held her hand with equal tightness. Her other hand in her mouth trying her best not to ugly cry. Naruto held her other hand with his two hands. Pregnant. A child. A family.

Those are the words repeating on Naruto’s head. A family. He can’t believe it. He moved closer to his wife, Hinata’s other hand reaching for Naruto’s cheeks, she wiped his tears.

“Thank you,” Naruto whispered to his wife, it was all that he could say, two words that could sum up all the feelings he has for her, he feels only her presence. The other people in the room became non-existent to Naruto, it was just them. His hands suddenly reached for her stomach which is relatively flat still. Hinata smiled at him, the brightest smile, the warmest smile.

“I guess that’s why I like cinnamon rolls than usual,” Hinata stated while still holding his cheeks. Naruto can’t help it, he laughed as he hugged her, he feels all emotions at once, all the joy in the world in his arms. A family to cherish.

“I told you, you have a kid,” Naruto heard an inner voice, Kurama.

“Thank you Kurama,”

“Tsk, you wouldn’t listen to me,” Kurama said but he also felt the joy radiating from the couple, he gave in and gave Naruto a small smile, a very tiny smile. He can’t believe a Biju like him smiling out of joy.

It didn't take many minutes before the hospital started to bore you. With a sigh you focused your chakra to heal yourself, hoping to heal up the rest of the damage soo you could leave early. With a soft hum you felt your body getting better and better each secound. You made sure it didn't hurt to move before you slid out of bed carefully, taking your time before getting real balance again.

You looked over at your clothes before carefully walking over and got dressed in your normal attire. With quiet steps you sneak out of the room and thowards the exit, making sure Tsunade weren't around.. "Going somewhere?" the sudden voice made you yelp and almost trip, but luckily you were able to balance yourself against the wall, before looking back at the person behind you. "where did you even come from?"

"I was placed in charge of you weren't I?" Kakashi smiled as he looked at you. "sneaking out was one of the things I thought would happened, but you suprised me with how soon" You sighed and got up on your feets fully. "luckily it is only you, and by the way.. I don't need babysitting at the hospital" You looked away a bit ashamed. "well, I have to disagree, been in a coma for a month and you are up walking after using too much Chakra in just one day"

"Don't tell Tsunade, or I'll be right back in that bed with other injuries" you pointed at him. "Didn't she use to train you with jiaryia?" You just nodded. "hence why I know what I am talking about" You muttered and conntinued thowards the exit. Kakashi just started to walk next to you as he read his book. "If you make it home without falling, you might be ready to leave allready tomorrow" he said with a thoughtful voice. "I should be able to leave allready tonight with the healing technique I used, but I just wanted out of that room" You answered honsetly, with a hint of sarcasm.

"well, then we say that then. Meet me by the gates in 2 hours, and prepare for at least a month on the road" your eyes widen as you looked at him. "are you planning taking me outside the gates?" The ninja just shrugged. "You know I can't leave past the gates" You whispered seriously. "Well I am in charge now, it is either my wrath outside the gates or Lady Tsunade inside theese gates" You stopped in your tracks and started thinking about the options. Tsunade you knew how would react, Kakashi not that much... "soo that is a option?" This made the man stop in his tracks aswell and look at you dumbfolded.

"ok ok, I meet you at the gates, it was just a question" You looked down and started to walk again. You got to the reseption and signed the papers to leave before walking home. The fact that you were gonna go outside citylines was scary enough. Last time was with Jiaryia years ago, and before that was the war. Lord 3rd had made sure to set rules for you that way, soo noone would find out or anything would go wrong.. But now Tsunade was the new Hokage, meaning her words were the law..

You unlocked the door to your appartment and stepped inside. It was just as you had left it, clean, but lonely. You threw the regular handsigns. "summoning jutsu!" you placed your hand at the floor as the smoke cleared and revealed the black wolf infront of you. He was bigger than wolves in your dimension, and the white dot on his forhead was the most colourful on him. "Mirai" You greeted and smiled. "Been a while Y/N.. What do you need?" he shaked his fur a bit before sitting down. "well, I am going out for a month, and need help carry my stuff on the road"  the wolf scoffed. "soo I am just a horse now? Thats how you treat the alpha?" he tilted his head making you throw your hands up. "Blame kakashi, he is the one wanting the training outside the village"

You took your time packing, as you placed it on the wolf. You also made sure to pack two futons, and foods to make on the road, before making two bentos for the road. "this should be enough.. Don't you think?" you smiled at Mirai. "says the one who is not carrying" he growled back. "some help can you give since I litterally just got out of the hospital" you rolled your eyes as you walked out with him and locked the door behind you before walking thowards the entrance. "I want to be somewhat prepared, who knows how it is out there" you exused as you walked next to him.

"well, next time I will bite" the alpha had a teasingly tone to his voice. "if you do I tell your wife" this made his ears lay back as he looked up at you. "playing the wife card, thats below the belt" You just laughed a bit in response. "well, I guess it is.. But soo are biting" the rest of the walk was quiet, as you tried not to meet the gazes from the villagers. The news had indeed broken out, making people look at you in a way you couldn't describe. "The cat is out of the bag, isn't it?" mirai muttered in a low voice as you stopped by the gate. "it is.. And I will not face it just yet"

You looked at the time, noticing you were on time. You looked around but didn't see kakashi anywhere. "Either I am early, or Naruto has been telling the truth" you frowned. You sat down on the bench and just waited as Mirai took a nap. It felt like it was gonna take forever, but suddely you heard the voice. "yo, sorry I am late.. Had some trouble finding everything" you just nodded, too tired to answer as you got up. "wait, you packed for a month in that tiny backpack?" you narrowed your brows. "well, yeah?"

"And you told me to be prepared" Mirai looked between you two and scoffed. "don't complain, you are not the one carrying" You just sighed and shaked your head. "well, Ok.. And it is not like it is heavy for you, Mirai..." How you thought using him was a good idea was still hard to answer. "I said for a month" kakashi looked at the wolf. "Yeah, it is for a month" This made him look at you in a way even you could not describe. "I am not sure I wanna know what you packed." he scratched himself behind the head nervously. "well, lets just say you most likely are gonna thank me in the end for bringing it"

With that said you just followed Kakashi down the road. Since he had planned this he must have a goal or a place he had thought of. It felt wierd being outside the village boarders, and away from home. You smiled a bit as you looked around and just enjoyed the quietness out in the nature.  For hours you all walked siletly, until Kakashi started walking into to woods. You narrowed your brows a bit, since it was no road or anything there. "are you coming?" he stopped and looked back at you, making you just nod as you followed carefully.

"we are almost there" He let you know. That was good, since it started to get dark. Why he decided going into a random spot in the woods were beyond you.. "this is perfect" he stopped, making you look past him, noticing a good space for camping and training. "Have you been here before?" you looked at him carefully. "why do you wonder?" he walked over to a three and placed his bag down. "well, seems like a perfect place, that someone has to know about beforehand to find, rather than a random find" you lifted the bag off Mirai and smiled. "I take it from here, thank you" you petted his head.

"Good, I will go back to the pack then" you nodded as he dissapeared in a poof. "Soo, did you pack any tents?" you asked carefully, since you had none. "nope, I forgot" You just nodded and looked at the place. "Well, I can try something... But it has been years" You found the perfect spot and closed your eyes and you made the signs. "Woodstyle jutsu" You imagined a small cabin with room for two, as you focused. When you opened your eyes you smiled. "You can make a whole house now?" Kakashi walked up to you and looked at the small cabin.

"no, This is just as much as I can do.. At least with the chakra I have now... And abilities" You thought out loud. You couldn't use much, mostly water and fire.. But because of what kind of tailed beast you had, you were able to replicate some small elements from some kekkei genkais. "Well, it is enough for two" Kakashi added. "You just packed clothes and weapons didn't you?" you raised a brow, starting to figure out his little test. "yes" he answered plainly.

You got your bag and carried it inside, before placing the futons on each side of the little cabin, and made sure the cooking pit was far enough away from them. You turned the lamp on and placed it on the floor. "well, I got it covered this time, choose a side" you let him choose first, seeing if it could somewhat made this whole trip more comfortable. "I see now why you used your alpha" he walked inside and looked at the futons. "smart really" he placed his bag down and sat down. "I don't know much about trips like theese, soo I just tried to see what would come in handly" you sat down and sighed tiredly. "I made Bentos too, since I figured it would be late"

Kakashi narrowed his brows. "you did?" You just nodded and got them from your bag as you gave him one of them. "since you said a month, I had to use whats left of good things at home.." you smiled. "and besides, making just one is not something I am used too" Kakashi took the Bento and looked at you. "Soo you are the one making the lunches?" you could see the smile on his face. "sometimes, The only one that remembered to make his own was Sasuke after all, even though it was mostly tomatoes and rice for a long time" you opened the box and started to eat.

"I am not shocked that Sasuke left.. Even if I had hoped I had reached throught somewhat to him the past few years" you said quietly. "Don't blame yourself... He saw how fast Naruto got stronger, and felt he couldn't keep up.. They are rivals after all.." you narrowed your brows. "Yeah, they are" you conntinued to eat silently, having a bad feeling about how sasuke left and what would happen between them. You both ate silently before you got ready and went to bed, feeling it was time to rest up as much as you could.

Kakashi looked over when he heard a soft snore. He could see the situation bothered you more than you wanted to let him know. You had been looking after both of the boys for years, which was still something he found amusing. You had suprised him today, indeed. Getting out of the hospital, walking this whole way.. Using ninjutsu like this the same day after you woke up from a coma.. It was impressive. He knew the tailed beast inside you were to blame for it, but it made him more calm, knowing he could push you the way you needed from now until you had the controll needed.

Naruto is seen thinking about Sasuke and seems sad that Sasuke doesn’t wanna come back to the village. After their encounter with him in Orochimaru’s base, it was obvious that Sasuke was a lot stronger than Naruto and that he needed to be more powerful to fight him. (But it is said that Sasuke actually used drugs to speed up his training, so he was probably a bit stronger than he should have. Also Naruto was weakened after his transformation into the four tails.) Anyways his thoughts get interrupted by Sakura and Sai.

Naruto says that he was ”devising a plan for them to look like they were going on a date”. But that’s not true, he was just thinking about Sasuke so why would Naruto say this? Also his face is not very serious at all either. Well first of all Naruto knows that Sakura loves Sasuke and he knows that he doesn’t actually have a chance with her (He knows this since part 1, probably even after chapter 3). He probably just says this to get a reaction from her and/or to piss her off. We all know Naruto used to be a prankster and he annoyed people to get their attention because it was better than to be ignored. The deeper reason behind him wanting to become Hokage is actually because he thinks that they hold the biggest amount of respect and then everyone would acknowledge his existence. He probably did more serious pranks on Sakura in the Academy and that’s probably why she used to hate him. He probably did pranks on everyone in his class except for Hinata who he probably thought was too nice.

Sakura is probably just joking but still, this girl calls him an idiot ALL THE TIME. Naruto even says she’s overdoing it. But maybe he’s indirectly saying that his previous statement about that date was also a joke? Naruto is also finally opening up more to Sai so that’s good.(i’ll be honest i didn’t like Sai when he was first introduced since i didn’t understand his point in the story, but he’s grown on me and he’s actually one of the funniest character and i like him for calling out on team 7:s bullshit).

Sai called her ugly. He’s right, she got an ugly personality. Also Naruto continues with the overdoing it thing (he probably thinks everyone is still joking). No but seriously when i first watched this in the anime i literally laughed out load and i never really do that. (Sai is awesome).

After their talk with Kakashi in the hospital Team 7 and Team 10 go and eat barbeque. Sai knows about Sakura’s reaction when he honestly told her what he thought of her. So he says the opposite to Ino and Sakura gets very mad since she wanted him to say the same thing to Ino (i know they are rivals, but what kinda friend genuinely wants that?). Anyways look at Naruto’s face, he KNOWS how she’s gonna react (he knows she’s a huge bitch).

I’ll be skipping the Rasenshuriken arc since there isn’t any important things regarding these topics there (just fighting and training arc).

We continue into the Second Sasuke Retrival Arc where Naruto is teamed up with Hinata. Naruto seems pleased with teaming up with her and he gives her a gentle smile. Look at how pissed and serious he was before but then when Hinata showed up he calmed down and looked happy. Its like her very presence makes him serene. Honestly if he got teamed up with Sakura (or anyone else) he would have still looked pissed and serious and just said ”Yeah!”.

A little of topic here but its relevant in chronological order for the story.

I’ve heard alot of people say that Jiraiya was weak because he lost against Pain. The thing is had Jiraiya known the same intel that Naruto did about Pain he probably could of defeated all of the paths EVEN the deva path and i’ll explain why. Since they were fighting in the rain village, Nagato wouldn’t have gone all out and used chibaku tensei or shinra tensei to avoid destroying his village. And that’s what Pain meant with that statement above. Had the deva path used all those jutsus though Jiraiya would have lost. Jiraiya should not be underrestimated though, to even take out 3 paths with no intel is still a huge feat since Pain is EXTREMELY POWERFUL. (Nerd rant over)

I’ll skip forward to here, Naruto hears about Jiraiya’s death and is angry over Tsunade’s decision of letting him go to the Rain Village. Naruto doesn’t show it, but he loves Jiraiya like a father figure and his death hits him hard. Also why is Sakura trying to scold Naruto here? She should know that Naruto spent alot of time with his former master and that he is upset over his death. Also if Naruto and Sakura were so ”close” then why didn’t he open up to her later about his grief over Jiraiya’s death, instead of just ignoring her? Honestly for being teammates they are actually very distant from each other. Naruto cant even be himself around her and acts stupid most off the time. There is no denying that Naruto didn’t even open up to any of his teammates first (not even Iruka). He actually opened up to Hinata about acting tough and putting on a bravado and how he actually was angry all the time because he saw himself as a failure. (It was probably her calm demeanour and charm that made him feel comfortable to open up to her, also because he sees her as a kindred spirit that would understand).

But after 3+ years he cant even open up to Sakura? For being teammates they are actually very distant from each other and you can tell that its a forced friendship just by reading the manga alone. It would have been easy for Kishi to give a better relationship but he did this on purpose for a reason. Naruto cant even act like himself and just acts stupid around her because they are so distant from each other. The only thing that brought them closer was their obsession with Sasuke.

Naruto wants to avenge his master and wants to beat Pain and thus wants Shizune to hurry up with the investigation of one of the Pain bodies. Look at what Sakura was saying too. She might be in the right Naruto shouldn’t stress her work but Sakura seriously doesn’t need to say the things she does to him. ”Throw him through a wall” da fuq?! He just ignores her again because as i’ve said in a previous part, if he talks back she is gonna hurt him.

That will be the end of this part. Next time we’ll be going over the Pain Arc, probably my favorite arc in the series. There is a HUGE NaruHina Moment there and i’ll have a lot to say about it so it will probably take more than just one part.

How would Kakashi and Anko react losing their child since they already have been through a lot (jashshs the angst)

oh oh oh... Nonny, please. I didn't want to cry tonight, but... here we go:

TW: miscarriage and child death

This might get long since I'm going to describe two scenarios.

Two scenarios; When Anko is still pregnant and when the baby/child is on a mission or whatever in the village.

Scenario 1: While she's still pregnant, Anko realized that she's been having some cramps. She figured they were braxton hicks contractions, however, she realized that they were kinda early. It only got worse when she felt something warm between her legs. Blood.

She'd yell for Kakashi, and when he comes in, he sees a sight he did NOT want to see. The blood and his girlfriend/wife bawling. He immediately wraps her in a blanket (so no one can see the blood) and takes her to the hospital.

Upon hearing that Anko had a miscarriage, the world seems to still. they begin to dissociate, not hearing what Tsunade/Sakura/Shizune (whoever is explaining it) says about what happened. All Anko hears is that it's her fault since she couldn't keep the pregnancy to term.

Once they're left alone, Anko can't help but seem... gone. Her eyes have no expression in them. She feels numb she still can't help but feel like it's her fault. "It's my fault. I'm sorry..." she'd mutter.

Kakashi also feels at fault. Maybe he didn't have Anko rest enough. Maybe it was their diet. Maybe it was them keeping up with working out to stay in shape and healthy for when the baby arrives. But either way, he also feels numb. He knows he should be there for Anko, and he tries his best. They'd take each other hands, Kakashi kissing Anko's and they'd just.. cry together.

After a few days though, they're meant to sign the death certificate, which they both would rather not do. But, they do anyways. Both are still numb for days on end. Kakashi swears he hears his beloved crying, and Anko can say the same about him.

Scenario 2: (I'll make this one a bit shorter) It would definitely be a mission based death. One rogue ninja was too strong for the genin/chunin team. When Anko and Kakashi catches wind of a member of Naruto's team 7 had passed away (but not who) they immediately are nervous and head to the Konoha Hospital's morgue. There, they see a cloth draped over a small body.

It was already bad news when they were actually let in (Kakashi figured it could have been his role as Hokage that allowed clearance) but when the drape was removed and revealed their child, Kakashi's eyes go wide. He breathes quickly, a panic attack almost setting in.

Anko on the other hand, would sway and fall to her knees at the sight of their child. She'd gasp for air and scream. Her arms wrap around herself as she tries to feel something. Then, Kakashi would immediately join her, pulling her into his lap as they just cry together. The Hokage would sway gently with his wife trying to console her, but, even he knows that the death of their child, would hit them for a long time.

An empty room, an empty seat at the table, the pitter patter of their feet on the cool wooden floors gone. Their current way of life is destroyed.

Almost immediately, with red eyes and tear stained cheeks, Anko looks up to Kakashi, breathing still uneven, and goes "I want to catch the sick motherfucker... and kill them."

Kakashi wishes he could oblige her, because hell, he wants to go after the ninja and tear them in half. But, he also knows that revenge would just leave them feeling empty inside.

They try to talk things through, however, they never do decide on what action to take.

Some say they see Anko slip out of the village... but they never say what she was doing.

AU Summary: The world is falling apart, and the Sage of the Six Paths sends Naruto back in time to find his parents and collect the thing that will help him and Sasuke save the shinobi.

Part 3 Summary: Naruto’s birth is here, and as much as he’d like to make time with his family last a little bit more, he has to face the thing that hurt him all his life, the loss of his parents.

Live for me

The three of them wished they could’ve frozen time that week, and stayed like that forever. Naruto even imagined that the baby Y/N was carrying was his little brother instead of himself in this odd and tragic reality. Maybe in another life he’d get to carry his little brother on his shoulders and teach how to use jutsu for mischief, take him to the academy for the first time, train together in the woods, then they’d go back home and Y/N would be waiting for them with a big bowl of ramen, and they’d get to share stories with Minato, and they’d be a nice happy family of four. Perhaps Minato would have fixed everything with the Uchiha, and they wouldn’t have to die. Sasuke would smile more, and Itachi would treat both of them as his little pupils. Maybe things could’ve been different. There wouldn’t be a timeline where Kaguya enslaved everyone to the tree, and he wouldn’t have had to meet his father as a reanimation. Maybe Obito would have lived and maybe Kakashi would be happy too. Too many maybes, and just one wish that he could save his parents tonight.

Naruto, you’ll feel the deepest pain you’ve ever felt, but you have to let things happen the way they were meant to be. If you don’t, Kaguya will win, and everything you’ve ever known will be gone.

The sage’s words echoed in his mind, creating a scar deeper than his battle wounds.

Now he was here, holding his mother’s hands and stroking her hair as the birthing contractions hit her body.

It was weird, seeing himself be born. The worried look on his father’s face, his mom’s eyes full of hope through the pain, and then it happened. Everything was blurry and confusing, it was way faster than he imagined it.

Obito was there, he had his baby self hostage. There was panic in his father’s eyes, but a glance at him let him know the baby would be fine. However, he let Minato rescue him, because things were supposed to happen this way. It was Naruto’s worst nightmare happening before his eyes. One of the most terrible tragedies in Konoha was about to take place, and he couldn’t do anything about it. This was harder than anything he’d ever done. He could fight the strongest enemy, learn the hardest jutsu, but this, was worse than anything. He had to let things happen.

Restraining himself was worse than anything he’d done, but he did it. So hid himself and watched as his mother cried, how Obito was about to break Kurama’s seal, and all he did was prepare himself to collect the special chakra that would leak out as the tragedy took place.

He wished he could take Y/N’s place as the Kyuubi was being pulled out of her, his heart breaking at the sight, but he made the signs and put his hands out. He felt the power the sage had given him activate as the chakra started seeping in. White hot powered gathered in his palms and spread through his body. He couldn’t think, only feel. It was intense, but like a shooting star, it was gone in a second.

The residual chakra was now safely inside him, and he was ready to get back to his timeline, but seeing Y/N weak and in pain stopped him.

Once Obito was gone, he rushed to her side and tried to aid her with the only medical jutsu Sakura had taught him.

“Mom, stay with me, please, live for me”

Tears dropped from Naruto’s eyes to Y/N’s chest, as he summoned every prayer he knew with his heart.

“Mom, I’m here, I love you” he held her close and then teleported both of them to the spot where he knew Minato would be fighting Obito.

Sasuke is already waiting for him there, ready to pull them back, but he knew this was hard for Naruto, so he waited for him to give him the sign whenever he was ready to leave.

The fight with Obito was already over, it was only the Kyuubi, his dad, his mom, his baby self and him, with Sasuke watching from the side.

Had that much time passed? The entire night didn’t make sense to him, and as much as he thought he had prepared for this, it was a thousand times worse.

“Dad!” He shouted and Minato looked at him and Y/N while struggling against Kurama. Strangely, he flashed him a kind smile, like he’d already figured something out.

Everything was already in place for the seal. So he was going to go through with it. Minato was still willing to sacrifice his life for his son. He does everything exactly as the tale he’d been told said. The black mark appears on the baby’s stomach, and he knows there’s no turning back.

“Naruto, get your mom close to me”

He obeys his dad without thinking and gets her close to him. Minato makes a few hand signs and presses his palm to Y/N’s weak chest. When he removes it, there’s a slight glow exactly over the spot he touched.

“Listen to me,” tears sting in the boy’s eyes as he looks towards his father “I don’t have much time. I’m not going to make it because the seal needs to take my life in order to work, but your mom will. Your mom can live, she’s an Uzumaki. I sealed a small part of Kurama’s chakra back inside of her. Just enough for her to live. I need you to be strong, Naruto. Take your mom with you to the future. Nothing will be altered. If you take her now, she’ll get the chance to live there with you, but the baby in front of us will grow up exactly the way you did, without parents and with Kurama sealed inside of him. He’ll still save the future, but you’ll have your mom now. Take her, and as much as it pains you, let me die here.”

Naruto nodded furiously, clutching his dad’s arms as if that could prevent him from slipping away.

“I love you, Naruto. Never forget that. Take care of your mom for me. Listen to everything she says, and whenever you miss me, just hold her tight.”

He turns to meet his wife’s gaze. She’s barely hanging on. Pain pulses through her body, but her husband’s kind eyes keep her safe.

“Y/N, my love, I’m not sorry for this. I’m not sorry for my life, and for dying to give you and our child life.”

“Minato” Y/N pleads, voice broken

“Live for me, Y/N. Give Naruto all the love we couldn’t give him all those years. See him become a great Hokage for me. He’s already surpassed me. I love you my sweet princess. You made my life worth living.”

“I love you Minato”

The last thing she sees is her husband’s calm smile, then she passes out.

Naruto thinks he notices the sandaime gesturing towards his dying father as Sasuke holds him and Y/N, pulling them into the time travel jutsu that will take them back to their timeline.

Y/N wakes up in the hospital a week after Naruto and Sasuke’s fight. Her wounds are mostly healed, and her strength seems to be recovering. Tsunade herself oversaw her care. She placed her and Naruto’s beds next to each other.

When she opens her eyes, she sees a familiar figure in front of her, though she experiences a bit of a confusion because the person in front of her is slightly different than she remembers.

“Hi, Y/N” says the voice she knows too well. “Naruto will be back in a bit, he asked me to watch over you while he’s in rehab therapy.”

“Kakashi” she manages, with a smile “you’re old”

“I know, it’s weird, right? That we’re almost the same age even though you and your husband basically raised me”

“This will definitely take some getting used to”

Kakashi immediately notices the change in her expression as she remembers what happened. He’d lost Minato a while ago, but she’d just lost him now, and he understood her pain, he knew it was greater than anything because he’d never seen two human beings mor perfect for each other than Y/N and his sensei. Tears start falling from her eyes and Kakashi sits next to her, gently holding her hand and giving her the support she needs.

“I know it’s not okay, but it will be. You have an amazing son to live for, and after all this time, I’m so happy to see you again, Y/N”

As he finishes saying it, Naruto enters the room with Sakura pushing his wheelchair.

“Moooooom! You’re awake! I’m so glad you’re awake. I’ve missed you so much, so long. It was very boring to lay here in bed and just watching you sleep. I missed talking to you. Well I did talk to you, a lot even though you were asleep. But I’m insanely happy that I got to bring you with me. And guess what? Sasuke is good again! I mean, he’s always been good, but he just noticed it now! He’s back here, and everything will just be so good now. I can’t wait for you to meet him, and all my friends. Gosh everything will be-“

Sakura landed a blow on Naruto’s head.

“Baaaka! Can’t you see she’s barely woken up? She has to recover and you’re bombarding her with a ton of information.”

Kakashi laughs lightheartedly and Y/N is happy to see he’s come a long way from the hurt, sad boy she knew. He gestures for Sakura to leave, and they let mother and son have their space.

A month later, Y/N and Naruto are fully healed and discharged from the hospital. Kakashi, Sakura and Sasuke, also recovered now, are there with them.

“We have a surprise for you two” says Kakashi, as they’re walking out.

He leads the way, and a few minutes later, they find themselves in front of a sunset colored house.

“We rebuilt it with my memories and a few pictures, it’s not the exact same, but hopefully it’ll be good to help you start your lives as a family again”

Y/N and Naruto have their hearts full with gratitude.

“It’s perfect. Thank you all. You have no idea how much this means.” She didn’t want to cry, but being with her son, and seeing her house, Kakashi being happy, Sasuke and Naruto getting close again, it was all too much.

They celebrated inside, Y/N made ramen for them, and they spent the evening laughing and telling stories to Y/N from when they went to missions together as Team 7.

They left a bit late, and Naruto helped his mom clean up.

“I’m so sorry I didn’t get to hold you as a baby, to cuddle you and to give you all my love, but I see now that you had the best support team you could ever have. I’m thankful Iruka and Kakashi stepped in for us.”

“I’m just grateful I get to have you with me now, mom. That I can call someone mom, and that I have a real home, like I always dreamed of, yaknow?”

She laughed and hugged her son tightly.

“I just wish Minato were here to see it all. He was so proud of the man you have become. I miss him so much.”

“Hold on, he gave me something for you. Give me your hands.”

She held them out and Naruto placed his hands on top of hers. A warm glow passed between them, and she recognized the chakra by the way it felt. She closed her eyes, and inside her mind, he was there.

“Hello beautiful”

“Minato”

She hugged him tightly.

“I’ll always be here, inside you. Now a part of me is a part of you. You get to live for me.”

on one hand Sakura (and Tsunade too tbh) should’ve absolutely been able to open at least some of the 8 gates in order to make the best use of their literally primarily taijutsu fighting styles

(you could make the argument that they do actually open the first gate or 2 without saying it, since Kakashi said that most ninja can only open those, implying that it might be common practice for taijutsu-focused ninja to open the first couple, but come on ✨✨✨imagine✨✨✨ their taijutsu with explicitly opened gates. on the OTHER hand, Sakura should’ve had sage mode. I’m not kidding name one reason she shouldn’t have had it like????? You get sage mode by going to the actual habitat of your summoning animal and painstakingly learning how to harness nature energy in their way:

Kabuto probably got the hardest one since he had to fuck off to some cave and be edgy enough to be accepted by the snakes,

Sakura and Tsunade???? are literally already beloved by Lady Katsuyu???? you’re telling me they just never asked about slug sage mode and she just never told????????? And/or that the infinitely divisible slug couldn’t be used to help their sage mode like Jiraiya’s Ma and Pa sage mode crutches??????? yea okay. (NO BUT SERIOUSLY IMAGINE THEIR NATURE WNERGY BEING HARNESSED BY MINI LADY KATSUYUS ALL OVER THEIR BODIES!!! Finally i’ve seen some serious arguments for why Tsunade should’ve had wood release like her damn grandpa - and don’t tell me it’s too special and too rare a technique, the power system in Naruto is literally about winning the genetic lottery and discovering it through a lifetime of debilitating labor. We just ✨pretend✨ that it’s not a capitalist eugenicist’s wet dream 🙃 - BUT I’ve also seen an argument that SAKURA should’ve had it. You’re telling me that the granddaughter of the First never inherited the technique or cared to learn its secrets or how it worked or even TRIED??? Yea no Tsunade should’ve had wood release, and she should’ve been able to impart it to Sakura medically, what being the literal Founding Mother of medical ninja/medical ninjutsu. You’re telling me Orochimaru could find cells and make a whole entire brand new wood user for no reason, but the actual blood descendant of the 1st just never got it or tried or cared to? Sure, Jan.

My muses in general.

1. Hinata Hyuga: This version of Hinata looks a lot more tired, almost like she's sleep deprived or something. Her eyes have sunken in a bit. She mostly just spends her days going out to the bakery or a cafe and just buying up all of the cinnamon rolls and noshing them down in her room along with gallons of milk. She's gotta eat after all! As of the time Naruto is set to return, she's ballooned up quite a bit... She's almost quintuple her size now. Her speed has tanked to a pitiful waddle and that she's quite out of shape now. Her jacket is now entirely unzipped with her gut letting it all hang out, her fishnet top is pushed it's limits as she managed to force her pillowy bust into them and her pants are quite snug showing off of her immense ass with them stopping a little bit before her ass crack, letting it be seen if you focus are enough as she waddles throughout the village. All in all, the only thing that has really changed is her appetite and her girth. She is still a kunoichi despite her ballooning in size.

1a. Hinata in a Modern AU is quite a different sight to see compared to her canonical self, she's just as round but also has a bit more confident due to working in maid cafe for Marshmallow Girls! She has always been considered weird due to her almost blind like pale white eyes with a little bit of lavender in them, but doesn't really mind it much due to her entire family having the same pale white eyes... As of now, most of her spare time is spent being addicted to Gacha games on her phone when she's at home. The Modern version of Hinata has a much happier life despite losing her brother figure in her cousin due to a drunken driver a year ago... Her father was acutally proud of her that she's managed to survive this long by herself.

2. Sakura Haruno: This version of Sakura has kind of gone a tad bit overboard with stress eating due to Lady Tsunade's training driving her to find an outlet for her stresses that don't involve punching things into smithereens... She's gotten a tiny teeny weeny little tummy that has now exploded into full on massive gut that keeps peaking underneath her top while her booty stretching out the shorts a little bit and the skirt is a on it's last leg due to DAT ASS. Everything else with the outfit is just fine and fits nicely. She's a bit more mellow now due to just eating away her anger and temper... Just don't end up stealing her snacks. You will regret it!

2a. Sakura in a Modern AU is a would be doctor in training who also is a bit of a freak when it comes to boxing, having trained to stop the bullying and gain some confidence from having been bullied due to her large forehead.

3. Ino Yamanaka: Finally living up to her namesake, Ino has just finally given up on dieting after a mission gone wrong. A concussion and a sprained leg results in her being barred from missions for a long while... The poor girl tended to black out if she hadn't eaten a full meal, which helps keep the pain away, which thankfully due to pills via a medical ninja keeps her alright and not suffering from black outs anymore. Even if it means that she starts to eat more and more and slowly starts to resemble her namesake and childhood nickname that was Ino-Pig. The pills did make her have an enhanced appetite, exhaustion and minor weight gain, but surely she wouldn't just gorge on purpose and willingly fatten herself up, right?...

3a: Ino in a Modern is just... a Fatter version of Canon Ino, a sassy, snarky tub of lard who knows what she likes and flaunts what she's got!

Well first off before Rin was Nohara Rin she was Senju Touka. Which makes this situation super fun because both Izuna and Kanna died before Hashirama strong armed Konoha into existence and Touka only went along with it because Her Stupid Little Cousins Need Some Common Sense. XP

In her lives as both as Touka and as Rin she holds the single (1) braincell for this Disaster Trio.

So Izuna dies via Tobirama’s sword. And then Kanna kinda… revenge rampages with Madara until the critical angst threshold is reached as Kanna just… explodes both theirself and the battlefield. 

There’s a whole lot of background stuff behind the suicide run such as Kanna’s Hatake side suffering from mate-loss depression and their Uchiha side suffering from Makengyou Madness and also Really Bad post-partum depression compounding it and yeah. Unfortunately Madara is just as wrecked from Izuna’s death so he can’t really support Kanna and it all goes to shit because we all know canon is a shitshow.

But anyway Touka is there to see Izuna die and she is well aware that Tobirama has just made a horrible decision driven by unacknowledged jealously and overzealous paranoia. Then Touka barely manages to save Tobirama’s pasty ass from the screaming revenge demon that she later learns was Izuna’s wife. And then Touka stands witness as Hashirama forces peace at sword point.

So Touka is just there like, “Oh for fucks sake we’re all going to die horribly.”

And, of course, Touka was right everything is horrible and everything hurts. 

Only now it’s plot-twist time and Touka, who was investigating certain questionable sources about the ongoing breakdown of social order in Konoha gets killed by Zetsu in order to cause even more tension against the Uchiha in Konoha and hey guess what? Yeah, that’s right Rin remembers the creepy plant-demon thing gloating about stealing Uchiha Madara (aka the only one vaguely strong enough to combat Kaguya at that time given he had naturally manifested the Rinnegan) for his own use before Zetsu killed her in a suspiciously ambiguous manner.

Shit.

Fuck.

Four year old Nohara Rin has a vendetta and the ability to kill a grown man. 

So obviously given that the Plant Demon is trying to kill off the Uchiha using shadowy assassinations and rumour mongering the Plant Demon is afraid of the Uchiha. Ergo the Uchiha are a threat to the Plant Demon otherwise it would confront the Uchiha more openly.

So.

Rin therefore needs to make super-duper ride-or-die best friends forever with at least one (1) Uchiha. And then, on the first day at the Academy, Rin runs into an absolute dork wearing Madara’s face.

Ah. Says Rin, channelling canon!Madara. That One. That’s The One I Need For My Plan To Succeed.

Cue the Rin and Obito Bonding Moment ™ that will repeat as a flashback every time their history is at any point mentioned in the narrative.

As for Obito, well… when he was Izuna he loved his Clan but then when he was reborn he read the Clan Histories from after his death and the public history of Konoha and Obito knows his Clan are a bunch of fucking traitors who stabbed his big brother in the back and that’s why Obito is both disgusted by the Uchiha and overprotective of the Clan’s reputation because Madara still loved their Clan even after they turned on him.

I may include Obito unearthing Madara’s private journals from a hidden cubby in the Naka Shrine that only Izuna would have known to look for. Just for the sake of an extra knife and also so that Obito can find proof of Zetsu’s sabotaging his brother’s mental health. 

Obito is more than a little weepy and sentimental over the fact that Madara honoured Izuna’s last request to the point Madara destroyed himself and his connection to the Clan. Obito can’t blame Madara for giving in when Hashirama forced peace to try and protect the few loyal Clan members who remained. Obito decides to protect Konoha and the Uchiha because he won’t let Madara’s last wish go unfulfilled but he’s going to become the fucking Hokage and tear out all the Senju-inflicted rot infecting his Big Brother’s Dream.

Obito is openly disdainful of the Clan Elders and the only people he even vaguely respects is the Head Family. Mostly because Mikoto is descended from Izuna’s daughter and even though Izayoi married “Tobirama’s student Kagami” she was still his baby girl and Mikoto is his great-grand daughter and he loves her because she’s his family.

Mikoto, Obito, and Shisui are all descendants of Kagami and Izayoi’s kids so they’re second-third cousins. Obito spends a lot of time pondering the overlap of self-care and I-love-my-grandbabies. It’s a fun little exercise in existentialism.

In the meantime Kakashi is still a little shit-disturber of the highest order. Kanna was taught all the fun Uchiha Clan Skills as Izuna’s wife and now Kakashi has learned all the fun Hatake Clan Skills from Sakumo and the little bastard is even more terrifying than canon. Kakashi is more gender-fluid than agender the way Kanna was though which is a fun new flavour of dysphoria-through-reincarnation that I’ll probably enjoy exploring.

Now, this does mean that Kakashi starts wearing his mask before Sakumo gets scapegoated which is a minor yet still significant change from Kakashi’s canon characterization-and-motivations.

So Kakashi blitzes their way through the Academy in like, 6 months because Kakashi has negative chill and an understandably paranoid focus on keeping their dad alive this time around. The only people Kakashi respects are the Military Police and their Dad everyone else can perish. Minato is A Constant Despair because he cannot control this sassy hell child Sakumo-sempai pls tell your son to l i s t e n t o m e.

Sakumo-sempai goes “LOL nope” because Sakumo is also a troll but is better at hiding it than Kakashi is.

So Rin and Obito are BFFs then Kakashi rips through their class like ground lightning and the sparring scene happens but the kickback of Uchiha-memories manifesting as body action means the spar is a familiar dance and so Obito is like “OMG K a n n a” and cue Obito stalking Kakashi like a schoolgirl with an obsessive crush and no concept of personal boundaries.

Enough shenanigans occur to 1. make Team Minato a cohesive and functional thing instead of a train wreck, and 2. keep Sakumo alive because Kakashi recognizes their Dad’s suicidal tendencies for what they are and so they set their ninken up as watchdogs to make sure Sakumo doesn’t do anything stupid. Because Kakashi’s biggest regret is leaving Madara and Izayoi to suffer grief without them and they refuse to let that sort of despair take away anyone they care about again.

So now Team Minato is bonding, and they are friends, and they are all slowly coming to the realization that they all remember their previous lives. So they start to share information and gradually piece together where Zetsu’s influence has been applied as they try to figure out what the Plant Demon’s endgame is.

Which means that Team Minato is 100% more paranoid about mission intelligence than they were in canon and also Rin more than ready to gut the Iwa-nin who tries to kidnap her during the Kannabi Bridge Mission so that’s fun. Team Minato has also made a point system for rooting out moles, spies, and traitors to hand over to T&I. 

Sarutobi had a lovely headache when the knowledge that Sakumo’s mission had been sabotaged “accidentally” got leaked. (Kakashi had given the old man more than enough time to fix the rumour mill so it’s on Sarutobi’s own head that he didn’t take action before Kakashi did.)

Also Team Chaos Gremlins Minato manages to charm Orochimaru over to their camp via one of Obito’s rage fuelled rants about dismantling the hypocritical indoctrination of the institutionalized status quo. Specifically, the fact that the Hokage is supposed to be a public service position voted on by the people who only really has complete executive power during war time. Instead of a unilateral dictator chosen by the previous Hokage’s undisguised bias and favouritism.

Also because they’re all proof of the reincarnation cycle existing. Orochimaru is living his best life especially when Team Minato trash talks the other two Sannin. 

Rin is the Most Offended by Tsunade fucking off and abandoning her responsibilities. Tsunade basically inherited all of Hashirama’s worst traits without any obvious redeeming qualities to balance it out. Because, let’s be honest, the only reason Hashirama got any level of respect is because he was Over Powered to the point of ridiculousness and because Tobirama plus Mito were in charge of his public image.

Kakashi and Obito are both hyper-loyal so having Jiraiya decide to just not come back during wartime and for Tsunade to abandon her responsibilities as a healer and Clan Head has destroyed any possible respect they might have had.

Obviously Orochimaru is the best Sannin so he’s the one they’re going to make friends with. Also they drag Orochimaru back to the Hatake Clan House to commiserate with Sakumo about being the target of a Village wide smear campaign. Which strengthens both Orochimaru and Sakumo’s spirits enough to resist their Bad Endings from canon.

All of this basically allows Team Minato to have the leverage to track down Zetsu’s creeper cave and they find Madara trapped and blinded and leashed to the Gedo Mezo, and Obito nearly has a world-destroying breakdown. Rin stands guard while Obito and Kakashi have a tearful reunion with Madara and there’s a lot of dramatic apologizing and sobbing.

They all know that they can’t leave Madara here with Zetsu, but detaching him means he’s going to die. Eventually Madara makes the decision himself to break the connection because he refuses to be used as a hostage against his little brother. So Madara tells Obito where his eyes are (which means that the Ame trio are going to get kidnapped by Team Minato eventually) plus a run-down of all the subversive plots Zetsu has had a hand in, and then Madara outright smashes the statue.

Normally nothing would be able to destroy the Gedo Mezo given that it’s basically the fossilized corpse of a god but Madara is currently part of it which means that the statue’s defences don’t realize Madara is a threat. So, statue goes boom, the cave starts to collapse, and Team Minato runs away with Madara’s body so they can give him a respectful burial.

Zetsu has approximately ten thousand aneurysms in the space of one (1) second.

From here the kickback really starts to pile up because Obito now makes a habit of dropping in on newborn Uchiha to check and see if Madara’s been reborn yet. Which means that Sasuke has a really invested older cousin hanging around to take Itachi’s place when Itachi make dumb decisions.

Rin is grumpy because basically every Clan who joined Konoha had a bunch of Senju marry into their Clan so finding Hashirama’s reincarnation is basically impossible. (And then, of course, Naruto is born and Rin faceplams 1000 times because of fucking course.)

Kakashi is laughing at both of them. Right up until they take command of Team 7 and notice a hated familiar chakra under the skin of a pink haired little girl. (All three members of Team Minato nearly die laughing because Tobirama is a pink haired little girly girl heeeeee~)

Anyway aside from all the family drama Team Minato also manages to dispose of Danzo and exposes his “plot against the Hokage”, boosting Sakumo’s public image to the point he gets named as the Fourth, fixing the stigma Orochimaru faced despite being the only loyal member of the Sannin, and basically terrorizing Konoha with Political Activism.

Zetsu probably goes a bit around the bend thanks the Team Minato destroying all his hopes and dreams plans. Also they keep putting the pressure on and exposing Zetsu’s schemes and eventually that gains enough momentum that the other Villages are taking a good hard look at shit that’s going down and hey wait w h a t t h e f u c k …

Obito eventually takes over as the Fifth Hokage and tears apart the corrupt government systems like a Tasmanian Devil going through a rotting carcass because Big Brother’s Dream Will Become A Reality B E L I E V E I T !

 Hinata sighed at the doorframe of Neji’s bedroom. She could only see his back, but his slumped shoulders gave away his mood.

“Brother” she called softly before approaching a bit to the bed “we have to go”.

Neji turned a bit his head to see that Hinata was already dressed in black. They had to go to the cemetery to play their respects to all the people who have lost their lives in the war.

“I’ll be in a minute” he murmured closing his eyes, he still had to finish dressing.

“Of course”.

Neji sighed tired, the war had ended two days before but he hadn’t rested, not even a bit. Every time he closed his eyes he saw her, and he wished he could picture her smile and giggle or the tender in her eyes, but he saw her next to him, deeply wounded but trying to be brave for him. The young man got up and got ready, but his eyes caught her ring. The wedding ring. He took it carefully and decided to put it through a leather lace that put around his neck, hiding it under his clothes.

The remain of the Hyuga clan marched all together to the cemetery were all Konoha was. Hinata stayed next to Neji, being a silent support that he appreciated although he couldn’t vocalize it yet. They greeted those who greeted them when they arrived and Naruto approached Hinata and Neji when he saw them. They didn’t say anything, they just nodded at each other and joined the rest of their friends.

“Hey, Neji” Rock Lee greeted, putting his hand on his shoulder “have you slept at all?”.

He shook his head and Tenten approached them “but are you eating? You have to take care of yourself after your wound. How is it?”.

“Sakura was highly effective in her work” he replied.

“You are still mad at her” Tenten mumbled sadly.

“I don’t think this is the place to talk about it, we are here to pay the respects of those who left us bravely”.

Neji went to stand next to Hiashi and the rest of the Hyuga clan. Hinata sighed and looked at Rock Lee and Tenten “I don’t know how to be there for him”.

“You are doing enough, Hinata” Rock Lee smiled at her slightly to comfort her.

The people of Konoha started to get around the new graves, ready to give their prayers to the souls of the lost lives.

Suddenly Neji felt something that made him look up with a frown. Hinata looked at him surprised by his movement that stood out between the heads down of all. Neji looked behind them to see someone in a wheelchair, helped by another figure. Neji mumbled something under his breath before getting out of the crowd and running to them “(Y/N), you should be at the hospital!!”.

Neji kneeled in front of his wife that smiled just a bit “I needed to be here to say goodbye”.

The man looked up at Sakura who looked guilty “we talked yesterday, she could use the fresh air and we would go back to the hospital as soon as the funeral ends”.

“Don’t get mad with her, it was my doing” (Y/N) said “and Lady Tsunade said I could do it”.

Neji just sighed and stood up to be the one who pushed the wheelchair “thank you, Sakura”.

“No worries” said with a small voice.

Before she pulled away completely, Neji stooped her talking again “I mean, thank you for what you did. I apologize for what I yelled at you back at the field, it wasn’t appropriate, you were doing your job”.

“I understand, Neji. You thought you were going to lose her” she looked down at (Y/N) who smiled at her “but I understood what it would be like if I didn’t do as she asked”.

“Good thing you are magnificent at your job” (Y/N) said taking Neji’s hand that was on her shoulder.

Sakura smiled at her and the three of them joined the rest of Konoha who smiled at them. Neji pushed the wheelchair until (Y/N) was next to Shikamaru and Ino, he knew she was there for them.

“You shouldn’t have come, you are still healing” Ino whispered trying to keep at bay her emotions.

“But I had to, this is the place where I have to be, next to you to say goodbye to our warriors”.

Ino let out a sob and leaned down to hugged her very carefully. Shikamaru put his hand on her shoulder, squeezing softly “thank you, (Y/N)”.

She smiled sadly at him and the funeral started. A ceremony filled with tears but also pride for those who had protected all of them.

Once the ceremony ended, (Y/N) said goodbye to her friends, promising a visit soon. Neji, Hinata and Naruto took her to the hospital.

“How are you feeling?” Naruto asked with a small smile.

“I’m sleeping a lot, Sakura says that’s good. That my body is recovering great. Lady Tsunade said I will heal completely in a week or so, but my chakra is a bit under what it should be”.

“You were really brave, not a kunoichi and fighting like all of us”.

“It means a lot coming from you, hero of the war”.

Naruto blushed deeply and the women laughed.

Once in the hospital, Naruto and Hinata said goodbye while Neji stayed with his wife. He sat on her bed, at the edge of the bed in front of her. She smiled and took his hand “don’t be mad at me”.

“I’m not…”.

She smirked and her hand went to his clothes to reveal the scar of his abdomen “it left a scar”.

“It’s a reminded that my brave wife saved my life” he said leaning to kiss her lips sweetly.

She smiled against his lips and whispered against them “don’t worry, I’m going to be a gardener from now on”.

“Whatever you desire” he replied pulling away a bit.

(Y/N) saw something behind his clothes and took the lace, revealing her ring. Neji took it to pulled away the ring “Sakura gave it to me once she stabilized you, I’ve carried it with me since”.

Neji took her hand softly and put the ring where it belonged. (Y/N) smiled brightly and caressed his face “what now?”.

“First, you recover. Then we go home, take care of the garden together and just enjoy our future”.

(Y/N) pulled his arm softly and he sighed but acceded to lay next to her carefully.

“And, in that future, there’re babies?” she asked smiling.

Neji blushed and stuttered a bit “b-ba-babies?” (Y/N) nodded biting her lip. Neji tried not to smile looking at her, but he couldn’t help it. He was surprised how cheerful she seemed after what she had endured. He caressed her cheek and got his face closer to her, almost touching her nose “it would be an honour to form a family with you”.

She blushed but giggled making him laugh softly.

“We are free” she whispered “we can live our future without anyone telling us what to do”.

“We are free together”.

(Y/N) smiled and kissed him softly once, twice, three times. No rush. They had all the time. The rest of their future ahead.

Naruto

Gets all red when he drinks at all, let alone when he’s actually drunk. It’s so cute. 

He’s also one of those people who thinks he is even more invincible than usual when drunk. He’s off trying to challenge a sober Rock Lee to insane physical challenges if no one stops him. 

Talks a biiiig game shooting his shot and is super affectionate when drunk, but would chicken out if someone actually wanted to hook up. 

Occasionally tears up about friendship. Super embarrassing. Super cliche. 

Sakura

Is soooo aggressive lmao she’s so fucking mean I love it. The only people who can match this level of rude are Neji and Sasuke. If the three ever banded together (which they won’t, because Neji and Sasuke would fight), their target would be done for. 

Desperately wants to arm wrestle. 

Loves taking drunk showers. It’s just a fun time for her. 

Gets kind of annoyed when people get weepy with her. She’s drunk to have fun, not to cry. If she wanted to get drunk and cry, she’d do it in her own home, by herself, as god intended. 

Sasuke

Is such a wanderer. Every now and then team 8 will have to go track him down because he’s basically  playing hide and seek without telling anyone. 

Always tries to smoke a cigarette when he’s drunk. Always coughs super embarrassingly and painfully. 

Again, Sasuke is sooo mean lmao he just sits there, wine glass in hand, critiquing everyone aloud! Drunk Sasuke immediately senses the thing you are sensitive about and comments on it. 

Let Ino pierce his ear once when they were all drunk. Actually kind of liked it, but he eventually took it out because it got infected and he didn’t know how to take care of it (and was too embarrassed to ask). 

Kiba

Horny drunk for sure. Unlike Naruto, he’s down to hook up with whoever happens to returning his affections that night. Claims they actually fuck, but usually they just sloppy, ugly make out and then Kiba falls asleep and is ditched. 

If he drinks enough, Kiba is convinced he can communicate telepathically with Akamaru. No one can really disprove him.

Frickin loves to booty-pop to anything. My mans drops it low. 

Gets angry when people try to make him drink water. He’s literally like this vid of the dude spitting his drink at his friend like one of those bath toys.  

Hinata

Level 1 Drunk consists of her getting even quieter and even redder than usual. She’s embarrassed to be drunk and thinks she’s being judged. Kiba and Shino know this, so they get her to Level 2 Drunk, which is when she’s too fucked up to care and can finally let loose a little. 

She’s kind of a wild card when she’s drunk enough to do abnormal things. Sometimes she confesses her weird secrets (such as definitely training herself to love ramen, even though her baseline is just that it’s ok, but a little salty); sometimes she gets uncomfortably deep; sometimes she just sits there with her Byakugan activated. 

Legit will sit with her eyes clothes, in her own world, swaying to music that may or may not be playing. 

Throws up often, but quietly and without drawing attention. 

Shino

Hates being drunk in big groups. He really won’t do it unless he’s at home or somewhere safe with Hinata and Kiba. Otherwise he gets all weird and twitchy. 

Shino is the kind of drunk who is very, very good at hiding the fact that he’s fucked up. Like, he’ll go all night with his team and the next day Kiba will bring up something Shino said and he’ll have zero recollection of that happening. 

Lowkey is a huge savage when he’s drunk. He voices all of those mean inner thoughts that he definitely (and, tbh, rightfully) has. 

Spills everywhere!! Mess!

Shikamaru

Has a strong preference for whiskey. He drinks it on the rocks, and has always done this. It’s what his mom drinks, so he just copied her because it looked cool and now he has a taste for it. 

He’s relaxed enough to drop the totally disinterested facade. This sounds like an oxymoron, but he’s just comfortable enough to show that he gives a damn about whatever he’s talking about. 

I say whatever he’s talking about because drunk Shikamaru dominates conversations. Kiba, who never really inspected him closely enough to recognize he has brain cells, was genuinely surprised that Shikamaru knew so many words the first time they were drunk together. 

Doesn’t like to get deep when he’s drunk unless he’s with his team or with an s/o. 

Ino

Ugh little lush. I love her. And Ino loves to be drunk. 

I think she likes white wine the best and chooses to stick to it once she gets old enough to decide hard liquor just is not it for her. 

Ino thinks she’s the funniest person in the world when she’s drunk. She will frequently ask, “Why don’t we have a show, you guys?” 

She can also just flip a switch and go total mom friend, though. If someone seems to not be doing so well, she can suddenly function at a much higher level. Ino is always the one to notice if Hinata needs to have a nice little vomit. 

Choji

Gets sooo giggly. It’s adorable. He’s just happy to be here, coach, and happy to be drinking with his friends. 

He’s kind of a lightweight for his size lmao. Also, baby boy loves the fruity drinks. He’s very confident in himself and his masculinity; why would he drink something that tastes bad to prove something to Shikamaru, who was born liking straight whiskey? No, thanks. 

Drunk Choji agrees with Ino in that they should absolutely have a tv show. They’re obviously comedy gold. 

Volunteers waaaay too much information. He’s just…so, so honest…as soon as a drop of alcohol enters his system. That’s why all of the Konoha kids know how long he is a virgin; he informs them monthly on the status. 

Neji

The third and final true savage of the pack. He’s a straight-up animal. Remember the chunin exams? Thirteen-year-old, sober, angry Neji came up with all of that very accurate and somewhat hurtful shit. Drunk, jaded, older Neji can come up with much worse, especially because he’s gotten some more humor injected in there as well. It’s horribly accurate and then everyone will laugh at what he said. 

Picks fights with Sasuke sometimes. He’s just so fucking annoying, man. If Neji can be normal in mixed company, so can he, god damn it. 

Gets really, really competitive. Sometimes he’ll take Naruto up on challenges on behalf of Lee. 

Neji only eats junk food when he’s drunk. It is always a night of indulgence, meaning he doesn’t do it super often. Tenten usually has to bully him into joining her (and then she has to bully Lee). 

Tenten

Just bodies shots like it’s nothing. She takes shots of the nastiest shit and her face doesn’t change. She started out like that in her quest to emulate Tsunade, then she just got a taste for it. 

Usually tries to do damage control with the dumbass “challenges” Naruto gets up to with her teammates. Sometimes, though, she’ll just join in herself to prove she can beat them all. And she can. 

Sings her fucking heart out. Take her to a karaoke bar. Please. 

Suuuuper supportive. If someone gets in their feelings too much, she’s there to help them out and bring the mood back up. She’s here for a good time!

Rock Lee

Rarely, rarely drinks. His body is a temple, for one thing. And for another thing, he can’t finish a whole drink and everyone roasts the shit out of him.

Genuinely tries to hold back with the drunken fist stuff, but Naruto won’t stop challenging him! He turns into an agent of chaos. 

Has written so, so many apology letters to different establishments and friends for destroying property. They are often tearstained and so sincere that he has never been asked to pay for damages. 

Makes a lot of drunk impulse purchases. And if all the stores are closed, he’ll end up just picking flowers from yards as he walks by. He never goes home empty-handed.

A/N: Thanks for the biblio [1+2, 3], dona--I did not know who Hisoka was before this, so those helped a lot! I did, also, have to reread the Lone Wolf 'verse since from what I understand Hisoka is an AU of that 'verse specifically? If not, please let me know.

Anyway, on rereading Lone Wolf 'verse, here are the facts that I gleaned:

Danzo is Hokage

Hiruzen died of "natural causes" several years before canon

Kakashi "betrayed the village" somehow and is being called Comrade-Killer more prevalently than canon

Asuma is probably dead

Yuuhi Shinku isn't an entire dick (since Uchiha Uzume can think about him without an automatic insult attached)

Shin is still alive (but very slowly dying)

and Kurenai is helping the Uchiha at the very least cover up a meeting with Kakashi outside of the village.

The facts of the Hisoka!AU are:

Shikako was taken to be ROOT

in order to protect those she cared about she mentally/spiritually maimed herself to the point where she no longer counted as "a Shikako" to Gelel

her partner for the final exam was Sai

she escaped/convinced Sai that the point of the final exam was to fake her death and became a fishmonger on the coast of Wind

when Shikako!Prime leaves via Gelel she "wakes up" from said previous mental/spiritual maiming

Kakashi finds her and they're a lovely wolf and cub pair who aim to kill Danzo (and get rid of their loneliness and maybe heal)

... okay, now that I typed all that out, did you mean Hisoka!AU of canon DoS instead of the Hisoka!AU of the Lone Wolf 'verse? Because those are different things, I think. But I kinda figured Hisoka!AU was intrinsically tied to the Lone Wolf 'verse, so, uh, here's a couple of ideas I had in mind:

1) Akimichi Chouza as Rokudaime.

Because after the absolute worst sort of "warmongering, self-cannibalizing, Konoha first" bullshit that Danzo spewed, the village needs someone who recognizes that being the village leader means making and protecting a home worth living in, not just a harsh taskmaster sending his soldiers out to die.

I considered Shikaku!Rokudaime for a similar sort of reason, but it's not as thematic and, also on a personal level, he can't. In a Hisoka!AU, he has to reconcile the fact that he gave one of his children--willingly or not, even if Danzo wiped his memory later--to a man who he already knew would exploit her horrendously. Maybe he didn't know the full extent of ROOT's training (surely not the final exam) but the fact that he was apprehensive and still went through with it is not a good look.

Even if Hisoka and Kakashi do not return to the village proper (and part of me is like, hey! They shouldn't! And I will go into that more in a little bit) he has to make amends to at least her, if not both of them, and he can't be Hokage and bound to prioritize the village over her if he ever wants to succeed.

Chouza, on the other hand, is the only one of the three who never made that decision (I'm still a little side-eyeing the Yamanaka clan, because surely a clan whose whole deal is KNOWING WHEN MENTAL SHENANIGANS IS GOING ON should have seen that with Fu, especially since he was allowed to keep his name and also, probably, had to have clan training to learn the clan jutsu, but maybe it wasn't Inoichi who made that deal? Maybe it was his predecessor. Either way, still mega sketch. I'm a little hand-wavy with Shibi and the Aburame because I headcanon that the Kyuubi largely wiped out what power they had the most out of any of the clans and they were like. Desperate to survive. And didn't have allied clans to bolster them.) And yes, probably that's because as far as fighting styles are concerned, they rely on their clan jutsu which is very recognizable and thus not great for ANBU (in the same way that I imagine the Inuzuka aren't often recruited into ANBU) but it's still a notable fact. The Akimichi are trustworthy pillars of the village and have been since the beginning.

And it helps that of the Nidaime's team, Akimichi Torifu was one of two of the full six who didn't turn into an old corruptible asshole. Sure, we don't necessarily know what happened to him, but he wasn't specifically seen as an old corruptible asshole so I think he's winning. It reflects well on his clan as a whole. Also, given my headcanon of the Akimichi actively cultivating their ties with civilians and also possibly the Daimyo's family they have, alongside military might, financial and political clout.

Anyway, while a possible Tsunade as Rokudaime would have similar vibes (and does, you know, match canon and have those canon reasons for working) in terms of "healing the village" etc. etc. This is a Tsunade whose most bitter cynicism was proven right? And there's no inspirational Naruto to convince her otherwise. And also, Tsunade shouldn't HAVE to clean up Danzo's mess. Like, the minuscule obligation she had to clean up Hiruzen's mess does not apply to Danzo. (It's a little like... Tsunade, Jiraiya, and Orochimaru were raised to be the ultimate team to take over for Hiruzen except they didn't know it and were dysfunctional. The fact that Hiruzen's death was by Orochimaru's hand and between her and Jiraiya she is the better choice is the only reason why she has that slight obligation to go back to Konoha. Whereas, with Danzo? FUCK THAT NOISE. That's a mess the village needs to resolve on their own. THEY'RE the ones who let it get so bad. THEY'RE the ones who need to deal with it)

And also, another reason why I don't really want Tsunade as Rokudaime is because I kind of like the idea of Kakashi and Hisoka sort of orbiting/paralleling her and Shizune. Like, there's a not-so-secret society of Konoha expatriates who aren't actually missing-nin and both love and hate the village and Tsunade is exasperatedly fond of those two disasters whereas she is sickened by the village. Maybe one day it will have fixed itself enough that she'll go back and visit and whip their Medic Corps into shape, but that is not any time soon!

Also, also, also, and I don't know if you remember this, dona, but in your In Which Someone Attempts to Kidnap Shikamaru, Instead, Inoichi brings up something called the Regency Protocol with Ino in regards to Danzo kidnapping Shikako and brainwashing Shikaku to forget and originally I thought it was some kind of Ino-Shika-Cho contingency plan where the three clans take over the village BECAUSE DANZO IS KIDNAPPING AND MURDERING CHILDREN AND THE SANDAIME WAS LETTING IT HAPPEN ON HIS WATCH? And of the three clans, the Akimichi really do have the traditional fighting prowess to wear the hat, so that's part of this too.

I just think an Akimichi Hokage would be pretty chill about it. Like. They wear power well and are good at managing people without crushing them in the fist of tyranny.

2) Maito Gai as Rokudaime.

This one actually for similar reasons as Chouza. Although, in terms of lineage, Gai could be Shichidaime, not that we're particularly holding to that Hokage teacher-student lineage so much.

In terms of semi-parallels where canon goes Tsunade to Kakashi, that means Gai also is a candidate. And in regards to showing the village/world a new kind of Hokage, he's as far from Danzo as one could get. He's straightforward and kind and draws out the potential from everyone and honestly real great but also wouldn't send someone into a mission he himself wouldn't do. Obviously, being a Hokage would mean delegating and sending shinobi on missions, but he would never send them out to die just because. Yes there are risky missions, but he would send those best suited to succeed with every tool available to them so they can succeed. Whereas Danzo would just throw bodies at a problem and kill the survivors for not doing it good enough.

The main difference between a Rokudaime Gai vs Rokudaime Chouza is that Gai's Konoha would rely less on the clan system. Of his three students, two were not from clans and the third is from the Hyuuga Branch (AND YOU KNOW FOR SURE THAT'S GOING TO BE SOMETHING FINALLY ADDRESSED BY A HOKAGE BECAUSE WHAT THE FUCK). Yes, his sensei was Akimichi Chouza, but neither of his teammates were clan either. A Konoha under the rule of Rokudaime Gai is a Konoha that builds up those who don't have the same infrastructure as clans, who strengthens civilian-born and clan-born alike, who make sure that talented civilian-born students aren't only noticed by predatory old men who can sweep there existences under the rug.

Because truly one of the many ways that Danzo's weird self-hating megalomania harmed the village was by draining away the talented civilian-borns of Konoha. He who hated that the Shimura were a near-civilian clan, committed the worst crimes against those who could have proved that bloodline wasn't everything. He was so obsessed with the power of the Sharingan that it became a self fulfilling prophecy. Any talented non-bloodline student who could have proven a challenge were stolen and smothered before they could prove themselves.

Because imagine this: one day some random student with the ubiquitous last name of Satou or Tanaka or Honda beats Uchiha Itachi in a spar. Maybe its an accident. Maybe they got lucky. Maybe Itachi wasn't taking them seriously (after all, what could some no name civilian born do to him?). But those maybes don't matter. Satou or Tanaka or Honda gets in one good hit. Surprises the prodigy of the Uchiha clan. Knocks him out.

The teacher takes a note of it. Talks about it in the teacher's lounge. One of Danzo's spies brings news of that notable spar.

By the next week--maybe even the next day--Satou or Tanaka or Honda is gone. No one beats Uchiha Itachi in a spar anymore. And ROOT adds another nameless, faceless soldier to its ranks.

BUT NONE OF THAT HAPPENS UNDER HOKAGE MAITO GAI. Because it is civilians that make Konoha a village and not just a loose coalition of clans. Because a name and a bloodline are not necessary to make a person great.

3) And here's the angsty/semi-bleak option: Yuuhi Kurenai as Rokudaime.

And I wrote a little bit for it, but I'm a little... mreh... about it because it does revolve a lot around the various men in her life which I'm not exactly proud of, tbh, but aaaaaaaaaagh this is endemic to a lot of Naruto fic. D:<

Yuuhi Kurenai is nobody's first choice.

(She was Asuma's first choice, and he was hers, and that had nothing to do with either of their fathers. Except now Asuma is--)

Her father wanted a son. A proper heir. Someone to elevate the prestige of the Yuuhi clan.

(In another universe, Yuuhi Shinku will think the only way his daughter can benefit the clan is through marriage, not her own merits. In this universe Yuuhi Shinku is a little bit more open minded enough to make do. He's still a dick, but not as much of one as he could've been. This puts Kurenai in an interesting position.)

The Uchiha clan are pursuing another ally with a little more fire power, a little more name recognition, and all the intimidation and influence that entails.

(But look at where that got Kakashi, exiled and with his reputation in tatters. Look at Gai who so eagerly and overtly wants to follow. Look at Asuma who--)

The rest of the village would prefer someone who didn't look so much like the clan of would be traitors. Someone who didn't have black hair and piercing red eyes. Someone who didn't specialize in genjutsu, an art for liars.

(Oh, but they were fine quietly suffering under a man who lied and stole and murdered. A man who manipulated and cheated and framed others for his crimes. A man who ruined everything he touched and Asuma tried to stop him, gods, but then he--)

And the world doesn't quite know what to do with a Hokage like her. Or a Kage that is a her, for that matter.

Yuuhi Kurenai is nobody's first choice.

But that's fine. She can make do.

She can make miracles out of nothing.

So the thought process to get to a Rokudaime Kurenai went kind of like such. Obviously, the Uchiha would prefer an Uchiha Hokage. However that largely depends on whether they succeed in their coup or not. There's the distinct possibility that Kakashi plus Shikako!Prime or Kakashi plus Hisoka will just kill Danzo and then leave, forcing the rest of the village deal with the consequences... AS THEY SHOULD... and thus also sort of cutting the coup off at the knees.

If the coup doesn't succeed (whether out of failure or because Kakashi and a Shikako kills Danzo first before they're prepared to do the rest of the coup) then if the political climate actually matches the one they perceive themselves being in (although, I don't think the Uchiha are as hated as they think they are, but its hard for them to see that isolated as they've been forced to be) then they're unlikely to get an Uchiha Hokage especially if news of them actually seeking an alliance with Comrade-Killer Hatake Kakashi comes out. Much less the aborted/failed coup. 

Anyway, no Uchiha Hokage without a successful coup... although, if there were a successful coup, the three Uchiha I would think would be even feasible would be Fugaku--boring, bland, but that's what they know. Shisui--friendly, well liked by those outside the clan, has an international reputation. Mikoto--this is largely based on fanon/headcanon, but she was ANBU Captain? That's pretty neat.

But, uh, to get back to the no Uchiha Hokage... Kakashi's reputation is still in tatters. Maito Gai could be a good option, but while his lack of clan is a good thing for future Konoha, he doesn't quite have the political backing necessary to get there. (Namikaze Minato was an undisputed war hero. Maito Gai hasn't quite proven himself that level yet)

If its brought up that the Ino-Shika-Cho were compromised (ie, Shikaku would have worked closely with Hokage Danzo as the Jounin Commander and also one of Danzo's top ROOT agents is Yamanaka Fu) then even Chouza's candidacy would be suspect.

The village wants Tsunade. But Tsunade does not want it. I have no fucking idea what Jiraiya has been up to, but if he didn't want the hat after Hiruzen died he sure as fuck won't want it after whatever Danzo's done with it.

The Hokage's Council is suspect. Yuuhi Shinku, for all that he is similarly important to the infrastructure of Konoha while also not being part of Danzo's corruption (in another universe, he very well would have been, desperate for power), isn't actually that strong and is old, besides. (The village has had enough of old men entrenched in positions of power telling them what to do).

But he does have a daughter. Genjutsu specialist, yes, but with potential and room to grow. And Sarutobi Asuma loved her (and, fuck, what a shitty campaign to run on, the would-have-been-widow of the Sandaime's son, but you know Shinku would be ruthless in pushing that. Remember, not as much of a dick in other 'verses, but still a dick) so she has that tether to the old regime, tentative as it is.

No one really has any major objections, but no one is really all that gung-ho about it either (except for maybe Anko who will punch all detractors in the face and may very well be a one woman Hokage's Guard).

Kurenai least of all. Because she doesn't want to be Hokage, but she'd rather step up and do it than watch her village tear itself apart even further. And maybe she doesn't know who she is just yet, and maybe it sucks that she's going to have to discover that while also being Hokage, but gods she's going to try her best because at least she knows what Danzo was doing was wrong and that there's no way she can do worse than him unless she just actively slaughtered children in the street.

Hm, yeah, kinda bleak ending. But as I said. The Rokudaime Kurenai one is the angsty-bleak option. I mean, it gets more hopeful, but it is a struggle I think for both her and the village.
