For some reason I don't understand, I really love Enemies to Lovers.

Disclaimer: I'm just crying to my ship, this doesn't make any sense, this is just me rambling.

They start out as all Enemies. Well, not really. Kaito has no particular thoughts for her and Akako is very indifferent to Kaito upon their first meeting.

Kaito probably thought she was pretty and nice, because one, he's not blind and two she was giving away chocolates.

However, it doesn't surprise me that after that blow he has no more interest in her.

However, his rejection offends Akako too much, who now considers him her enemy. And she chooses to cast a spell on him at the first opportunity.

SHE INVOKED LUCIFER, JUST TO ASK HOW TO KILL HIM. SO MUCH EFFORT.

When they meet again it is during the night.

SHE MAKES VOODOO TO HIM-

I SUFFER SO MUCH FROM KAITO IN THIS SCENE, BUT I ALSO ENJOY IT A LOT, BECAUSE AKAKO ARE GREAT.

SHE CLOTHED DEATH.

That smile can be taken as "Did you think you could beat me? Ha, how silly."

"TONIGHT I'M GOING TO STEAL YOUR LIFE"

SCREAM.

Akako offers Kaito to be her servant in exchange for sparing her life, but as expected, Kaito turns her down, because, well, no one wants to be the servant of a crazy witch who tried to kill you, completely reasonable.

After being electrocuted and set on fire, she offers him a chocolate to save himself.

She really suffers so much for not having it, so do I, Akako.

However, despite the bad time Akako gives him, Kaito teaches him that the magic he practices is only dedicated to making people happy.

And She sparks an interest in him after that. "You steal people's hearts by force, that makes them unhappy"

For me this is the real one, "Children, this is how I met your mother."

Kaito definitely doesn't trust her after all that, but he tells her "Inside that cold heart lies a very valuable gem," I interpret it as him encouraging her to be herself.

I just think this scene is great.

I think it was that moment that made me think that she wasn't really bad, if not, she just wanted love but didn't know how to get it the right way.

"Goodbye my lovely and beautiful witch."

This just makes me want to write fanfics for them, you know?

What I like so much about this ship is the "Wizards and Witches are natural enemies", I like how even she seems interested in it even though she knows it and how Kaito even though she doesn't try it well, ( I'm trying to kill him, my god), he's trying to console her.

This is just so good. Just with the final scene, it seems like a fanfic plot. She practically denies her feelings because she fears losing her powers, despite the wizard's confession. She rejects him, they can't be together, especially because his magic insults hers. Sublime. It's cinema.

Sorry, I just love them too much and I'm a lazy writer.

I think the most beautiful thing about writing of Howl and Sophie's pair is that they are written as people before being written as a pair. Let me explain this very quick.

The thing about book Sophie and Howl is that they are not really fully fitting into any "classic" romantic trope. They are not exactly enemies to lovers, as their angry chats are definitely cannot be considered a life or death battle, they are not rivals to lovers because the only aspect of rivalry between them is the cleaningness of Howl's room. They are not friends to lovers, as their relationship just doesn't fit into "friendship" structure at the very start, nor they are roomates (yes, they live in the same house but that's not the core aspect of their relationships). Of course, you can go on and fit the name of the trope you found specifically for them, but that's the thing.

They simply cannot be processed through a pairings lenses only, in order to understand how they act in relationship you need to analyse them separately, as a characters first of all. Cause that's what the book itself does!

Sure, it doesn't have a whole lot of romance instead, but it gives us time to learn and observe the life of incredibly written, alive characters, understand them as personalities first of all, while slowly immersing the dynamic between two characters (in this case, Howl and Sophie) into work. They are written as personalities, both being fully separated and interviewing, changing eachother's point of view.

It's difficult to find a trope for them. They're are not a trope. They are Howl and Sophie, and that's probably the only way their dynamic can be properly described. Just as real people, they are not really fitting into the boxes of linial character progression, but go way deeper into being complex, filled with little differences and moments only people with their personality can have in romantic (or any different) kind of interaction. They're imperfect, and silly, and multidimensional and the reader knows them well enough to imagine them interacting way beyond of what the book says to them.

They are being people before being a ship, a pair of a trope — and that's why they work so perfectly charming in the end.

Howl and Sophie are unique in being themselves.

popping in randomly after almost an entire month just to talk non stop about the tsaritsa again everyone sit down.

specifically just thinking about the implications of tsaritsa's ideals originally being about love + the abandonment of those ideals to complete her goal of, presumably, destroying Celestia or whatever she's cooking up. to the point even her people don't love her and I probably don't even remember a time her ideals were of love. now it's all just ice and snow and cold.

which makes romantic fics w her even funnier because she's purposely removed this part of herself and suddenly reader walks into teyvat like they own the place (they do) and I can only imagine her reaction. angry, probably. because why you? what are you doing to her that's caused her hundreds of years of strict adherence to rejecting "love" both from others and to others to just. collapse. absolute shattering of her world and you probably don't even know it bc if nothing else she's good at hiding it. a lot of denial. tries to pick you apart and see what's makes you so different.

and oh she just hates it. she loathes it.

basically one sided enemies to lover trope because she can't stand you for a while but if you stick around she starts warming up to you and it makes it WORSE. so much worse. tries to distance herself but your just everywhere and it gets on her nerves because why does she love you? she isn't capable of love, not anymore. she thought she was.

g-d forbid one of the harbingers or PIERRO notices she'd never live it down. might even consider the implications of just killing you (she doesnt). worse if you know about it and act like a brat she will lose her damn mind

just the tsaritsa being an absolutely horrible mess internally.

The thing I love about fanfiction that focuses on “irredeemable” characters is that most of the time it says, “you are forgivable, you are lovable, you are important.” It says that you are capable of growth and that you can overcome your past. And I think seeing that as a teenager saved me. I thought I was unlovable and then I got older and started understanding the world through my own eyes rather than my parents’ and I started recognizing my mistakes and I thought I was unforgivable. But fanfiction told me, “you can change and you can be wanted and you can be loved,” and that gave me the space to forgive myself and love myself.

I think something I find really delightful about jayvik is that, for all intents and purposes, they are perfectly set up for enemies to lovers friends. Like they're from two opposing cities that are constantly in tension, and while Jayce doesn't come from the wealthiest family, he still is from a respectable house, whereas Viktor more or less had to claw his way up from the bottom. They absolutely could have a sort of rivalry or resentment between them, but they just don't because they inherently respect each other. The fact that these two men choose to respect and love each other (platonically or romantically or however you see it) is so interesting and dynamic. The show doesn't brush Jayce's ignorance aside (with viktor's "I'm from the undercity") but it also doesn't make viktor resentful, spiteful, or jealous of Jayce's "golden boy" status or his upbringing. These two men decide to work together, to respect each other, to love each other, and I find that so refreshing.

no actually, they did not. there were reasons for everything that happened and just because everyone is so quick to judge things these days doesn't mean it needs to happen to them. whilst in the first book there was some initial behaviours that do support the claim, there were reasons behind them and also this is how enemies to lovers works !! they BECOME lovers. there is such a thing called a redemption arc?? not to mention we get an apology from cardan for everything he has done. toxicity is not what was in their relationship - it was ferocity. The ferocity of their love.

So let's all please stop labelling everything to ever exist toxic and focus on the people who actually need support from their toxic partners / relationships

EDIT: I would just like to clarify that I meant all this for when jude and cardan were in an actual romantic relationship together! This is by no means condoning what happened at the beginning of the books as that was most definitely wrong. I DO NOT condone any form of toxic relationship. I was trying to point out that once they were in an actual romantic relationship then they were NOT toxic and this is what some people argue they were. Apologies for any misconceptions!
