The dolls' house in the drawing room came from Newbridge, Donabate; it was probably made by the estate carpenter there in the eighteenth century. Inside there are three great empty rooms and, above child height, utilitarian shelves. Desmond Guinness has commissioned miniature copies of Irish furniture to furnish it once more.

A link design!!! For a story that’s solid enough in my head to possibly become a comic ehehe
some notes:
Link has been Heroing for some time now, with minimal success. He’s a bit grumpy.
he also has a bulky brown overcoat, but I haven’t figured out what it looks like yet so i didn’t draw it lol
the gloves are to hide his scar, but also help in the cold. Because this Hyrule is rather cold :)
The overtunics are both pretty new, which is the only reason they aren’t torn to bits. The same person who made them mended his pants and made his hat, which is why the patches match cloth in other parts of his outfit.
the scar on his face is from a lizalfos. I figured, if the Dilophosaurus in Jurassic Park gets to spit acid, then shouldn’t a lizalfos get to too? So it’s an acid burn. He’s lucky he dodged most of it!
I’m still figuring out how to accurately depict the scars, so they don’t look quite right yet! With research and practice I’ll get there!
the other scar I will not get into for plot reasons hehe

This is the same story the above Zelda design is for!! I’ve posted her design in varying stages before, here, here and here, but the story in the previous posts has changed a bit since!! There are also some really old doodles of Link if you (hehe) follow the links.
the above is Zelda’s formal dress. I designed it with a girl a little younger than her in mind, because she loses most of her wardrobe when she’s about 12! So I really ought to draw this on her younger self XD
Tumblr media
Finally, scrapped Ganondorf and Link designs!!!
don’t look into these too much as I’m only putting them here because I’ll never post them otherwise; they do not fit the story at all lol
Ganondorf is gonna be… really hard to design… I made him a very complex character and his personality is so intertwined with the story there is a lot to be taken into account XD
ummm that’s all for now!!! I doubt many people will read all this but feel free to send asks if you have questions nevertheless :D

Hi so in case anyone was dying to know, this is what i think some of the cast of the terror would look like as animals :3 notes under cut
From left to right:
Crozier- Irish Terrier
Silna- Polar Bear
Goodsir- ryeland sheep (known for tasty mutton ;3)
Hickey- red fox
Franklin- old english game rooster
Fitzjames- red deer
I had fun coming up with them :) and I kinda wanna doodle some screencaps but with like a lil short sheep goodsir and his bestie the giant polar bear lady silence whom he thinks would love England. Or like hickey on his bullshit but with more flair bc he would have a fox body and tail to really fuck up that line of action
Anyways heres some closeups and sketches

In a hall recently acquired clam shell sits on an intricately carved late seventeenth-century Irish mahogany table that came from a house in County Leix. The table is carved on both sides and designed to stand in the centre of a room rather than against a wall.

I follow a page called "Ugly Irish Houses," and thought that you'd like to see some. I don't know if any of the homes are for sale, b/c they don't post any links and I can't locate any, but it's fun to look at. This is a home in County Antrim, N. Ireland. Isn't this an interesting choice of mural for the kitchen dining table area?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I like the rest of the kitchen, though. Aren't the cabinets and walls cute? I wouldn't change a thing.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Next to the kitchen, the small sitting room looks like a castle. The seating appears to be built in.
Tumblr media
Looks like a mural going up the stairs to the bedroom.
Tumblr media
The small bedroom looks so pretty. They did a lot of work in here.

Interesting little attic room. I love this house.

The Bardic Tradition
I made a long thread explaining in detail all the symbolism in this piece when I first posted it. That's lost to time now, thanks Elon. I'll try to rewrite it to the best of my ability in an abridged form.
The basic gist is that its a visual representation of the ancient Gaelic bardic tradition. Seated in the center is St. Colmcille, composing an old Irish hymn to St. Brigid, "Brigit bé bithmaith". He is holding hazel nuts, symbols of knowledge / inspiration in Irish legend. On the two pillars on either side of him are King David (left) and Orpheus (right), two famous poets from antiquity. Two legendary poets from Irish legend, Oisín and Amergin, are situated above each pillar respectively. The two fish are seen swimming "upstream" (as in the legend of the Salmon of Knowledge) toward a sheela na gig, a architectural feature / grotesque of early Irish churches which some consider to be symbols of femininity, meant to ward off evil. At the top of the image, hands from a cloud (representing God) release a white dove (representing the Holy Spirit) down to St. Brigid. She owes her angelic appearance to her being considered both a pagan goddess and Christian saint. She is guarding a flame, which symbolises poetic inspiration, and which can be seen floating above the heads of all the other figures.
