Amity Candy Store
It turns out that having a portal to the Infinite Realms gives you resources to materials you've never seen before. Due to the recent peace treaty between Amity Parkers and ghosts they had begun to exchange products.
Some ghosts felt very nostalgic and wanted to try the food of the living again, or have access to objects not available on the dimension. Others simply wanted to show their shiny items to the liminals, after all there were so many portals on the dimension and they had a lot to trade!
One of those items was Kryptonite, ghosts were sure it was candy of some kind and told the liminals that and since ghosts and liminals could eat it without any consequences (Frostbite approved) the liminals assumed it was some kind of special candy. Like shiny rock candy.
So it is not surprising that when they opened a candy store they began to sell Kryptonite there. When the Justice League began to investigate the town's sudden silence from the outside world Clark didn't expect to feel extremely weak walking past the local candy store. Or that being around the local children would make him sick.

(Adventure Comics 342) (1966)

(The Flash 329) (1984)
An interesting link between Superboy in the 60s and Superman in the 80s re:fellow heroes killing in self defense. Not what u'd necessarily expect from Supes. I sincerely doubt that Cary Bates had read this Adventure issue or even considered it when he was setting up this Flash trial, but it is neat to see a similar thought.
I wonder where he falls on this scale in modern comics?

Bwahaha the way Clark just flung Alt!Lionel onto the ground after getting him out of the mansion was amazing. I love when he doesn't give a fuck about people.

my roommate and I were going brrrr talking about Kon and imagine. man is invulnerable EXCEPT for onions. Ma teaches him how to cook and he has a lowkey panic attack because wtf is happening to my eyes? am I dying??? Clark and Kon later bond over how Ma laughed at both of them over that
LSDKJFLS the logical and pedantic part of me does feel the need to point out that any vulnerability to the chemical irritant onions release would also translate to vulnerability to other airborne lacrimal irritants which could be incredibly fucked up a la mustard gas depending on the application in question, and realistically kryptonian invulnerability definitely covers the surface of the cornea, but... this is so not the point. sorry for being the way i am i do think ma laughing at her boys is a very endearing image hfjkdshdkj

I do notice if he’s genuinely upset his remarks get way more cutting and pointedly cruel. They aim to hurt. He is normally very good at keeping his composure, but when it does begin to fray, it takes a lot to drive him to such a vengeful point. He is also very aware of how he can get.

JLA: Incarnations (2001) #2: “Belonging”
Bruce joins the JLA. For some context, everyone but J’onn had basically been complaining about Batman ordering them around before this. Imagine thinking Batman was looking down on you just to be hit with the speech he gave here. And for him to be challenging SUPERMAN to do better by you at the same time??? Unreal. Also, Bruce finally accepting the offer JLA had extended them earlier but only after being like, “Are you sure? Are you really sure?” AFTER GIVING THAT SPEECH OF COURSE THEY WERE GOING TO SAY YES.

Sora vs Superman
Tumblr media
An imagined scenario of a duel between Sora, Keyblade Master (unofficially) and hero of Kingdom Hearts, and Superman, one of the greatest heroes in the DC Universe.
Stats:
Both are immensely strong, though Superman probably has greater strength, and are incredibly fast, though we have never had a real glimpse of Sora's top speed.  Sora has a vast arsenal of magic and wields the Keyblade, a weapon with magic properties of its own, while Superman has heat vision and super freeze breath.  Both are very durable and can take a lot of damage, although Superman is effectively invulnerable (to an extent) in most situations.  Sora has no particular weaknesses, but also no particular invulnerabilities, while Superman is weakened by Kryptonite and deprivation from yellow solar energy, and has no resilience against magic (i.e. spells harm him as much as they would a normal human, and a weapon made of magic would hurt him in the same way that a regular weapon would hurt a human).
What do you think? Who do you think would win in this match-up? Are there any circumstances in which it would go either way?

A further “do your damn homework” middle finger to Kyle Hunter and those like him

Read some actual comics, Kyle.

Superman is an incredibly kind and tender character. (If he’s not being written that way, then he’s not being written well.) He inspires hope not just through his heroics, but also through his kindness toward other people. That’s his thing. Don’t you DARE call tenderness a “weakness.” Get your toxic masculinity the hell away from me and go read a badly written Batman comic if you want a “tough” male character.
