When Clark said “he’s not even a very good dog but he’s all alone and he’s probably scared so i have to go get him” I was so happy because someone in that writers room truly understands superman better than we’ve seen in a long time. This is the essence of superman - that every living being deserves kindness and empathy and love simply because they are alive. Clark is the kind of guy who’d cry when he got stung by a bee not because it hurt but because the bee died when it stung him and someone in the writers room knew that and made sure it came through.

Lex Luthor funneling billions of dollars into escalating geopolitical conflict JUST so he has an excuse to proxy fight Superman via yelling letters into a microphone has Got to be one of the funniest subversions of the entire movie. 10/10 this is exactly the type of guy who would baby trap Superman and then send him the delivery room invoice.

Vague Superman spoilers ahead but what does it say about movies lately that I was genuinely surprised that they beat the bad guys without some big catch or sacrifice. Like sure there little things and emotional ramifications but at the end of the day they won.

Lex even tried to do the whole “force the hero to make an impossible choice” thing and it didn’t work because Superman asked his friends for help!

Anyway I’m just obsessed with the theme of “Good can win. It may hard and it may seem hopeless at times but with love and friendship and a radical determination to save as many people as you possibly can, good can win.”
