Newfield at the shining night!

Here's finally! Enfield x Newcomen art!!! God i love them! I at first wanted to make it an entire new version of the illustration "the fall" with them but then decided to make the expressions and background more of mine own!

(my version of Newcomen has a bit white hair since i feel like he would be extremely stressed in his job at least my version. I mean it's 1886 and his being gay, a transman and London to that period was basically Gotham City but in England.)

Robert Newcomen is amazing, I can’t believe he doesn’t get the love he deserves. Sure, he was horrendous at catching Hyde after the death of Carew; to the extent Utterson more or less do his job for him. But he’s still my baby girl

"W-why I would never!" Newcoman furiously blushed and his eyebrows furrowed in irritation as well.

"Why he causes nothing but trouble-! All he does is harass women it seems-! Although..." He pursed his lips in frustration, but perhaps he was too harsh in his judgement... not as if Enfield cared however. In fact he was smiling as if amused.

"Perhaps that was an... over-exaggeration... he is a good-willed man. And without him, London may just be a little less safer. Even if he does cause me trouble sometimes with his well meaning antics..."

"Why... that is very kind of you to say my good Inspector! I admit perhaps playing hero does not end up the best for us both. But I can't stand to see injustice in broad daylight-!" Enfield playfully rubbed at his dry eyes with a handkerchief before pocketing it away.

"Although what I do in my private life is my business, yes? If a woman wants to have a relaxing night out, who am I to reject her? Although if you want a night out as well... I am considering it as we speak."

"We are two men-! But-! But-!" Newcoman's head had completely fried, all he could splutter out was a few 'buts'.

"Oh relax! I was just kidding. Come on now Inspector, would you let me do your job for you instead if you can't manage to let out a no in the next 5 minutes or so?"

"NO! You are nothing but trouble for me!"

I'm rereading Bloodhound in an attempt at getting myself writing it again, and it genuinely isn't that bad. Like, I am actually making some sense in here and my edits thus far have been minor. Who would've thought?

Anyway, for everyone that has been waiting for an update in at LEAST four months, here's a bit of what my brain has allowed me to write for the next chapter:

Inspector Newcomen was impatient. He had thought that, with Holmes’ coordination, the investigation would’ve closed itself neatly in a matter of two days; the game had been afoot, however, for 10.  Any further reading into the list of suspects felt as if more and more bars closed themselves around the young investigator. Grimsworth had no further details about it. There was no sign of whoever or wherever could be Higgens’ missing sister, and even if there were, he doubted her knowledge would’ve proven to be more useful than that of her adoptive father. And, despite all of those refreshing obstacles for such a man, Sherlock Holmes hadn’t so much as even approached the station where Newcomen worked and where Newcomen stayed as loyal as a dog is to its master, eagerly waiting for his return throughout the afternoon.  “That’s the price you pay for working with the man,” one of his colleagues said. “We usually only properly find out what he did years down the line, through yet another one of his partner’s exercises on romantic prose. You really shouldn’t be surprised.” “Why am I even sharing this with you?” “Because I’m the only one willing to listen, am I not?”  “Unfortunately, Robinson, you are. The question is why you of all people.” Officer Robinson shrugged. “I did train my own dog…” “Be very careful of what you say next.”

"No? I see... My apologies then! That was quite rude of me! What a thoughtful gift... I could use the pen and watch. Thank you very much! I feel awful... such a kind gift given to me... I'll continue to keep you safe to the best of my ability as an inspector!"
