we do have actual restaraunts and by and large theyre run by immigrants who came here and opened a restraunt. that doesnt matter though i'm here to complain about MILD, MEDIUM, AND HOT SPICE LEVELS. at the indian place in my hometown (excellent restraunt) this is a REASONABLE SCALE. it MEANS SOMETHING. at the taco place where i go to college, and also at aldi's when i buy salsa, it apparently means NOTHING. mild salsa is NOTHING. medium salsa is SPICELESS??? there is allegedly some spice in there or it wouldn't be called medium but i have yet to find it. and hot is i guess your only hope for any spice flavor at all so better hope hot is edible to you! whereas at my beloved indian restraunt mild is a bit spicy (you can taste the spice), medium is quite spicy (this is what my mom and i get), and hot is presumably india-hot but i don't know bc we stick with medium. apparently my beloved indian place is not the norm and this appalls me.
anyway. american restraunts, if they're not fast food chains (and while there are differences it's not meaningful enough to matter; mcdonalds fries are like skinnier or whatever idfc) and they're not an ethnic cuisine which usually only shows up in towns/cities big enough to support them (and therefore less common in areas that are less likely to be interested or trusting of foreign food), and they're not the occasional local american food place (like grill or whatever, but those are also usually chains like texas roadhouse or chilli's - we really don't tend to have american food restraunts. like there's one in my hometown but they're literally famous for Existing and have a cookbook even though theyre not that good) are like. diners. diners are the only non-chain american food place that i feel like consistently can be found in most places. and that's a diner. it serves diner food. and more steaks and hamburgers
shoutout to every single halal cart i've ever eaten at also. bangers forever
nodding thoughtfully. see if americans were diehard burger samurai over their local diners it'd make more sense to me. like that's respectable. i'd also be a burger smaurai if i lived near a cool diner

khione meets tim at the silver lotus, a chinese restaurant riding on the coattails of jean grey, ororo munroe, colleen wing and misty knight. it's no paper lantern, of course, but it'll do for now.
aisling has been lying.
four words that cause her to, briefly, close her eyes. she breathes in through the nose, holds it for four seconds, and breathes out through her mouth, mentally counting to six. then she opens her eyes again. neither pain nor surprise crosses her features. just some sort of weary resignedness.
it's yet another jagged puzzle piece that she has to slot in somewhere.
she remembers the nine cards that aisling tucked away. remembers the time aisling told her that, sometimes, she has to play a game that benefits nobody.
remembers fiachra stirring up trouble shortly after her arrival. remembers edgar babysitting them for some reason when aisling was out of town.
she remembers, though. files the things she sees and hears and experiences away for future reference in neat little mental cabinets. she remembers. that's the long and short of it.
there is so much she knows, now, and so much she doesn't.
tim has found something, she knows. a file on how to erase someone's powers. permanently. how that works? she doesn't know. doesn't want to know, even though knowledge is power.
"you have powers," he says, "so maybe you can help me understand what happened?"
khione's heart breaks because he's so young, because he doesn't know what happened to stanley. doesn't know his part in it. her heart breaks and breaks again, mostly for tim, but also for herself because she's going to have to be the one to tell him.
make it fast. it's like ripping off a band-aid. it's like wiping out on the ice; it's imperative you get up as quickly as you can.
Tumblr media
they meet again at a later date. this time they sit down in a restaurant called pradeepan's indian cuisine and it grieves khione that she can't just pull tim in for a hug. it wouldn't magically fix everything, but it wouldn't make things worse, either.
apparently the company of v is still whispering in tim's ears because the minute he sits down, he brings out the big guns.
"how do you know it wasn't aisling who killed him? huh? she can revive anyone, save any life she chooses. how come she didn't save him? maybe she isn't as perfect as you think. nobody is. but at least these people aren't lying to me."
she takes a moment to scoop most of the raita out of the little container and onto her biryani. she mixes it together as best she can and then she takes a big bite, savoring the rich flavors.
"most powers manifest during periods of high stress and intensity, you know, elevated cortisol levels and all that jazz. will stronghold's abilities made themselves known during a fight in the cafetaria with warren peace, but only after warren had threatened will's friends. yours made themselves known during your argument with aisling about the file."
khione hums and takes a sip of her chai: "i never claimed she was perfect. you're right, nobody is. and i understand your... grief and frustration, i do. but one) everything comes at a cost and two) maybe they are not lying but not lying and being truthful are two very different things. they are witholding information from you, i'm sure. tell me, if all the cards were on the table and if you knew everything, would you still be here? would this be the choice you would have made time and time again? would this be the path you would have gone down? the road you would have taken?"
from the corner of her eyes, she sees someone who looks surprisingly like edgar tear into a roti roll and wonders how many eyes the company has on them. wonders if she has to give said eyes temporary snow blindness.
"because you've allied yourself with the people who almost killed me, and now you would have your siblings do the same? you're smarter than this, tim. you always have been. do you really think that's what's best for all of you in the long run?" khione arches an eyebrow. "you and whomever else you'd manage to recruit would have to work with people like katie baxter. people who had no qualms whatsoever about torturing me and killing me if it meant reaching her objective."
the only reason she's not going into the harrowing details is because she's sure it'd ruin his appetite. instead, she takes another bite of her food, if only to prolong the inevitable.
"i don't think i'll ever get back to being the person i was before all of that happened. i mean, sure, i can still hold my own but..." khione shrugs. "...we can't go back. can't wind back the clock. we only have now." which means that, at the end of the day, tim has a difficult choice to make.
(it also means that at the end of the day, khione is evander's daughter, is saraswati's daughter. knows that there is power not only in words but in being seen, too, in being listened to. in mining information. giving a little to get a lot. permafrost and ganga may be retired but they did teach her. the fact that she quoted aisling's voice mail? not an accident. not at all.)
as she finishes up her meal and drains her cup of tea, khione adds: "you don't have to face aisling just yet if you don't feel up to it but just know that everyone would love to see you come home, me included." a beat and then: "don't worry about the bill, by the way. i got you."

New trends in tourism From sources across the web

Emerging Travel Trends Shaping the Industry: From Wellness to AI-Powered Planning
The travel industry is changing at a pace that cannot be paralleled. With new trends in technology, consumer preferences, and much more emphasis being placed on sustainability, its rather fast-paced change is unstoppable. What's emerging as far as diversified personal traveling habits go, are trends that are shaping the future of tourism. In this blog, we’ll dive into some of the most prominent trends in the travel industry today, with a particular focus on developments in India, where the travel landscape is experiencing rapid growth and transformation.
1. Wellness Travel: A Holistic Escape
As modern life becomes increasingly stressful, wellness travel has emerged as a powerful antidote. This trend emphasizes physical, mental, and emotional well-being, where many travelers are entering the arena of health spas, yoga retreats, meditation centers, and other restorative experiences. Wellness tourism is booming around the world, and since India possesses a strong heritage of yoga, Ayurveda, and holistic healing practices, it has become one of the preferred destinations for seekers of wellness. From a luxurious Himalayan retreat to a coastal Ayurveda resort, wellness travel is designed to refresh and recharge amid frenetic global living.
Experiential Travel: Cultural Connection Deepening
Experiential tourism is more than visiting a new destination; it's about recalling memories and experiencing true cultural expressions. India's booming middle class, with the growing use of digital tools in discovering new destinations as well as experiences, is also fueling this trend. Other than conventional sightseeing, travelers now want to delve into local traditions, try various types of cuisines, learn crafts, and engage in meaningful interactions with communities.
3. Eco-Tourism: Protecting the Planet While Traveling
Eco-tourism has long been a buzzword, but it’s now a necessity for sustainable travel. Travelers are becoming more conscious of their environmental impact, and India, with its rich biodiversity and natural landscapes, is increasingly catering to eco-conscious tourists. Eco-tourism promotes responsible travel that conserves the environment, supports local communities, and educates travelers about conservation.
4. Offbeat Destinations: Discover Hidden Gems
India is home to thousands of offbeat destinations that are relatively unexplored by mass tourism. From quiet villages in the Northeast to secluded coastal towns and untouched mountain ranges, offbeat destinations give travelers opportunities to spend their time largely away from tourists and experience something unusual. These offbeat locations are becoming increasingly popular as travelers are looking to acquire more personal and authentic experiences.
5. Religious Tourism: The Pillar of Indian Travel
India is a country of profound religious roots and is a highly dominant segment of the travel industry. Millions of pilgrims visit sacred sites such as Varanasi, Amritsar, and Tirupati every year. Beyond the pilgrimage, India's spiritual offerings attract a global audience in search of a connection with their faith or exploration of ancient traditions and rituals.
6. AI in Travel Planning: A Smart Approach to Itineraries
Artificial Intelligence will revolutionize how we plan and book travel. AI-based platforms today can give you personalized recommendations, suggest itineraries that are automatically curated for you, and even give you virtual assistance to answer any of your questions or provide real-time answers. Here is why it is becoming one trend in Indian travel: AI recommends based on your past travel behavior and preferences.
Automation in booking and planning saves time and enhances convenience.
AI-based customer service tools (like chatbots) offer 24/7 support, making travel planning smoother.
7. Sleep Tourism: Prioritizing Restful Stays
A relatively new trend in India and globally is sleep tourism – a travel niche focused on enhancing the quality of sleep during a trip. Hotels and resorts now provide services such as customized pillows, soundproof rooms, and special sleep therapy treatments to cater to travelers interested in prioritizing rest in their stay. The fad of traveling for sleep is particularly sought after by those who have just traveled and wish to shake off jet lag or those who lead particularly stressful lives.
8. Hotel Robots and Chatbots: The Future of Hospitality
More and more, technology has become the spark for the travel and hospitality industry, with robots and chatbots appearing increasingly in hotels and airports around the globe. Robots are used for room service or acting as a concierge or cleaner, helping hotels lower the costs of operations while also improving the experience of guests. Chatbots have been launched for customer service in travel, enabling passengers to make bookings, ask questions, and solve problems at their convenience.
9. Facial Recognition Technology: Fastest, Safest
Facial recognition technology is being deployed by major airlines and airports to streamline airport security and boarding processes to provide smoother, faster, and more secure travel experiences. Although there has been considerable debate over its invasive implications on passenger privacy, the technology has proven highly effective in accelerating the oftentimes tedious experience of an airport process.
10. Immersive Experiences: Bringing Destinations to Life
Revolutionary examples of immersive technologies for travelers include virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR), which are changing the way people relate to destinations. Virtual tours of historical sites or 360-degree views of hotels are now allowing travelers to pre-live destinations before even booking a trip. Many travel businesses are making these technologies interact to spark imagination and connect the traveler emotionally to the destination.

The Future of Travel is Dynamic and Diverse
The travel industry is currently in the middle of a transformative process. Wellness travel, eco-tourism, and uses of AI and robotics are changing the ways we travel today and will continue to shape those ways in the years to come. More personalized, immersive, and sustainable travel experiences mean a future in tourism more diverse and richer than it has ever been. Whether it's relaxation, adventure, or connection, the travel industry has options for every person.
As these trends continue to unfold, it will be interesting to see how technology, culture, and environmental consciousness shape travel. These are exciting times indeed for both industry players and intrepid travelers looking to discover their worlds with new eyes!
It is, therefore, a great time to consider any of these trends on your next holiday. Keep an eye on this developing theme and think about how you might incorporate them into your travel plans. Happy travels! ????✈️

Hey friend! Asking you some horrible questions. 14, 34, and 51. ❤️❤️
Oh, hello, dear favorite writer! Thank you for asking me this! 😍
14: Do you miss someone?
kind of difficult to answer, though, since i'm not really good with emotions, especially my own. but sometimes i think of my late dad once in a while and miss old friendships that have fallen away a bit.
34: Who/what was your last dream about?
i can't really remember much, actually. but the most recent dream i can recall is about some random actress i don't even know, showing up as a damsel in distress for me to rescue.
i don't know why, maybe it's my subconscious wanting to be helpful and useful, but every single time i dream of someone, especially those i love (including my favorite), i always dream of helping them with something or rescuing them from some apocalyptic event.
i even dreamt of trying to help someone dodge attacks on a large ancient wooden ship while flying demons screamed "beware of seraphim" out of nowhere. i woke up, googled it, and realized that's the name of celestial beings in religion. and i'm like… was that a calling??? wait… who was i helping again? and why am i always the rescuer???
51: Favourite food?
as a thai person, i pretty much eat everything, so it's hard to narrow down my favorite foods. but when it comes to cuisines, i can say i enjoy thai, chinese, japanese, korean, indian, mexican, greek, turkish, italian, french, even american fast food. it seems i enjoy a bit of everything! haha.
in thai culture, we don't like to say that something isn't tasty when we try it and don't enjoy it. instead, we say maybe we just don't get it or perhaps don't really know how to eat it.

Out of curiosity, and if you don’t mind me asking, what’s everyone’s favorite food and drinks in ladybug classic and the fashion club au?
ohh thats a big one, and one I havent put too much thought into. Its a little hard to like, parse "what french kids actually eat" from "what journalists want to sell you on what the french eat because french is fancy" from my research.
Marinette is a busy girl who likes quick snacks instead of full meals. Eating is a chore that gets in the way of her STUFF TO DO. I think she'd be fond of easy-to-grab easy-to-eat stuff like bread rolls, croissants, stuffed pastries (a side effect of being raised in a bakery) but in general is the kind of kid to just.. grab a bowl of rice (her mom has a rice cooker always packed with fresh rice on all the time) and/or throw whatever is leftovers on top (anything, ANYTHING.) Drinks on the other hand, she seems the type to be super into sparkling waters (strawberry) but also really likes boba teas, because the drink has an interactive element (chewy tapioca!) and it's sweet.
Felix is an odd one, he's raised on this.. plain, minimalist diet that's pretty high in protien because his dad expects him to excel in sports (boxing) so it's a lot of like.. chicken, and greens (no salt, no dressing or fluff) so he gets a little weird when given like.. spices, or flavor- in the "where have you BEEN all my life" sort of way. I really like to imagine he settles into curry as a food he likes- since it's pretty versatile, has lots of variants from savory to spicy, and it's easy to make. His drink of choice? Frilly, seasonal coffee drinks. I'm talking the raspberry-dark chocolate valentines, the pumpkin spices, the peppermints- his vice, his bribe. He gets reward money from placing well in some of his boxing tournaments (the few times his father gifts him anything) and that usually goes directly toward these drinks.
Flora kinda eats everything, even when one might not consider it edible: but she's pretty into fast food, because her family usually makes her eat really fancy foods in fancy ways (I always eat the food wrong, and mother gets mad at me.) Most times she'll just order out, with a preference for thicker deli-style sandwiches and pizza (excuse to invite friends over!) HOWEVER her drink of choice is tea! tea tea tea. She knows everything about all teas ever. She has every tea, foreign and domestic. Iced teas, hot teas, blended teas- she grows some of her own teas. She has special tea instruments, imported tea cake/preh boxes decorate her walls, several custom-made tea sets, and enough matcha to kill a man.
I dont know enough about Malagasy Cuisine to make claims for Alina, but she likes a few dishes from there- because her parents passed it down to her and Theo.. even though both were born and raised in France. Shes super chill though and tends to go with the flow on what others eat or what is offered to her, leaning towards spiced (read, not spiCY, spicED) foods rather than fatty or sweet. (i actually see her being really into like.. mexican [i'm explicitly thinking of those chamoy/chili powdered candies] or indian dishes). Almost as if she values the smell over the taste (saying this as if the two senses aren't intricately related LOL) as for drinks? I think she's someone who prefers bitter, like straight tea... maybe wine too? Iced coffee as a treat, but with only a splash of cream.
Alix is a mystery, but they seem to subsist off caffine and energy drinks. Food? Unknown. Kagami is a lot like Felix where her diet is very strict. But she probably likes fast food when nobody is looking. She adopts a craving for energy drinks from Alix.

Damon Salvatore? 🫘😳💨🤢❤️🦸
(I read the original 90s series, and watched the CW show, but I assumed you were referring mostly to the latter.)
💨: Damon is a 4/10 as a human. He farts slightly less than average, and it’s usually silent and scentless. That said, if he feeds on more than five people in a night, he’s definitely not inviting himself over for naughty times with anyone. He absolutely cannot handle when things racket up to even a 6/10. He immediately secludes himself in that state.
It’s about the same as a vampire, except his trigger foods affect him way more. They can crank things up to a 9/10 stinkwise, since he’s an expert on putting on the silencer. It’s very noticeable, and Damon will frequently crop dust locations, or use his good looks to blame some human guy (honestly it’s usually Matt, because Jeremy and Elena will fly off the handle if he does that to them) (he tried claiming NewVamp!Elena had trouble adjusting to blood, and he had a very unsexy back scrape to prove it; that sucker took three days to fully heal).
🫘: Damon cannot handle most Asian or Latin cuisine, Italian being the obvious exception. It’s not just that he’s a white bread American, but that for most of his natural life, and the first two decades of vampirism, these foods were widely available in America outside of major cities, especially not in Civil War-era Mystic Falls. He’s adapted pretty well to Chinese food after a month or two of bad reactions, but even after nearly two centuries, he still cannot handle his spice. Indian and fast-food Mexican are particularly hard on Damon’s stomach.
😳: For all his modern hedonism and living in the moment, the 19th century gentleman in Damon will blush even imagining the thought of passing gas in public (and yes, home with Stefan counts as public). His embarrassment levels are definitely a 10/10, maybe even more like a 1000/10. And with a lady love or gentleman partner? Watch him disappear to another country for the next seventy years if they’re a human, and forever if they’re a vamp. After all, he could learn to love Japan. Sweden is also supposed to be lovely.
Part of his drama trauma stems from a moment he had with Katherine. After a rich meal of Chinese food Katherine had Emily prepare for her and the Salv brothers, the foreign food, particularly the egg rolls, had an effect on Damon. He was making love to Katherine at the time it hit, and as his thrusts grew got slower, he could tell she was already losing interest.
“Why the sudden gentle act,” Katherine asked. “It’s like you’re starting over before anyone finishes.”
As a human, Damon was so desperate to please her, to beat out not only Stefan, but 300 years of other lovers, that he immediately picked up the pace.
Her moans increased as he did so, and his trademark smirk came to his face. And then… *BRRRRRRrrrrrrrrrrrOOOOOOOObrrtbrrt!*
The smirk dropped from Damon’s face as Katherine stared up at him in blatant disgust.
“I apologize,” Damon said as his face reddened. “I did not know I would…”
“Release worse flatulence than a horse,” Katherine supplied.
Damon hung his head in shame as Katherine climbed out from under him and walked out of his chambers laughing, obviously heading to the rooms of his perfect brother.
And so, to this day, he associates gas with another time he lost to Stef.
❤️: He will hold it until he’s blue in the face, bloated, and possibly having the first vampiric heart attack. If he doesn’t want to draw such drastic attention to himself, he’ll let it out silently whenever his partner is out of the room. This was a fairly effective tactic until Elena became a vampire and could tell whenever she came back that, at the very least, there was something lingering under the strong Febreze. After that, she pretty frequently gets snarky about Damon’s little habits and his shyness with the topic of his gas, shocked she found the one thing to make Damon nervous (well, other than the constant world-shattering Mystic Falls danger of the week).
Some quotes over time include:
“So, we had Indian. Do you want to go to the bathroom now, or should I wait for you to tell me the only thing that smells is my upper lip?”
“Just because Jeremy’s human doesn’t mean you can blame your farts on him. You know, if you really think you can keep yourself from sucking its blood, we could get a dog.”
*BRRRVVVVRRRT!* “…So I’m gonna take that as either a request for some alone time or some Tums and cuddles? Where are we going with this?”
Like, she definitely proved she has nothing in common with Katherine other than snarkiness, but honestly Damon puts up with it, because it’s a strange kind of affection he’s grown used to.
🦸‍♂️: Vampirism actually means that, if he kept an all blood diet, Damon could theoretically have very little gas, but the necessity to pass a human is important and honestly, the expanding American palate leads to more tempting offerings in a small town like Mystic Falls. Anything that gives humans gas goes double for vampires, and the stomach takes longer to adjust to new foods than it would for a human. Hence, Damon’s inability to handle Taco Bell or even Chipotle, as Tex-Mex didn’t come in freezers and go into fryers when he was human. The same goes for a lot of international cuisine as done by Virginia.
