we do have actual restaraunts and by and large theyre run by immigrants who came here and opened a restraunt. that doesnt matter though i'm here to complain about MILD, MEDIUM, AND HOT SPICE LEVELS. at the indian place in my hometown (excellent restraunt) this is a REASONABLE SCALE. it MEANS SOMETHING. at the taco place where i go to college, and also at aldi's when i buy salsa, it apparently means NOTHING. mild salsa is NOTHING. medium salsa is SPICELESS??? there is allegedly some spice in there or it wouldn't be called medium but i have yet to find it. and hot is i guess your only hope for any spice flavor at all so better hope hot is edible to you! whereas at my beloved indian restraunt mild is a bit spicy (you can taste the spice), medium is quite spicy (this is what my mom and i get), and hot is presumably india-hot but i don't know bc we stick with medium. apparently my beloved indian place is not the norm and this appalls me.

anyway. american restraunts, if they're not fast food chains (and while there are differences it's not meaningful enough to matter; mcdonalds fries are like skinnier or whatever idfc) and they're not an ethnic cuisine which usually only shows up in towns/cities big enough to support them (and therefore less common in areas that are less likely to be interested or trusting of foreign food), and they're not the occasional local american food place (like grill or whatever, but those are also usually chains like texas roadhouse or chilli's - we really don't tend to have american food restraunts. like there's one in my hometown but they're literally famous for Existing and have a cookbook even though theyre not that good) are like. diners. diners are the only non-chain american food place that i feel like consistently can be found in most places. and that's a diner. it serves diner food. and more steaks and hamburgers

So I watched BF and NPMD for the first time back to back about a month ago, and the fact that TGWDLM uses a lot of green in its poster, title, etc but the main villain is blue and is in blue lighting while Black Friday uses blue for its poster and title but the villain is green and introduced in green light might contribute to my increasing insomnia.

YOU ENDED UP GETTING ME INTO NEOPETS NOW SO WHAT R UR THOUGHTS ON JETSAM(S)? IM A SUCKER FOR SHARKS LOL SO IM RLY HOPING TO GET ONE AT SOME POINT

Jetsams are sharks, and are meant to be kind of a counterpart/natural predator to the dolphin-like Flotsam; to the point where the two looked near-identical. Nowadays there are more differences, with the Jetsam sporting two fins, sharp teeth, slightly different markings, and an upright posture. Personally, I like to think of these two as a case of mimicry, with the Jetsam having evolved to trick Flotsam from a distance.

Visually, the Jetsam has a nice tough look to it that gives it a lot of personality, and the way it sits upright plus the two fins gives it a bit more uniqueness so it isn't just a normal shark. My only issue with it is that the gray underbelly is a bit too dark and low-contrast. Gray as the accent color is fine; it just needed to be a lighter tint.

The Jetsam benefited quite a bit from customization, as its old art was starting to get very dated and needed a redraw anyway. The new Jetsam looks a little less tough, but the smile is nice as it shows off their teeth, and it gives them a fun kind of mischievous look. The overall look didn't change much, but the head has been changed significantly to have a much better, less wonky shape to it, and the markings now stop above the mouth instead of near the eyebrow. The shape of the hind fins have also been improved, and they're one of the only pets who can make the customization fists look good.

Favorite Colours:

Maraquan: How do you make an underwater version of something that already lives in the water? Make it into a deep-sea fish, obviously! The overall design is easily recognizable as a Jetsam, but its been given a horizontal posture with bioluminescence and an angler fish light/teeth. The palette is great, using neutral browns and greys for the body and bright neon blues for the accent color. My only nitpick with it is that the teeth feel a bit busy and don't quite make sense if you look at them too long, but overall, this is a great design.

Pastel: The pastel Jetsam is just plain pretty, using a soft pink and turquoise palette. What really makes it work is that instead of using flat colors, it employs subtle gradients so the turquoise becomes blue in areas and the pink gets some subtle highlights. On top of that, it's also given a sunlight-under-water ripple texture, with a few small speckles on areas like the eyebrows and tail. A lot of effort went into this design compared to your standard pastel pet, and it really paid off.

Toy: Alright yeah, this one's just fun. The pool floatie idea is a great concept that works perfectly for the colour, and the execution is also really solid, including lots of raised plastic ridges, seams, and plenty of highlights to give it that plastic look.

My only issue with it is that weird handle on the side of the head. I guess some shark toys have these, but I've never seen one personally and it honestly just looks distracting and kind of out of place. Also, I do wish it was semi-transparent (think like the good Jelly-coloured pets), but that's not a big deal. Still a really good colour regardless.

BONUS: The robot Jetsam has a mostly red and white palette with a few black accents, and it works really well for this pet. I love the visor, and the patterning on the fins is really neat. Both versions are fine; the UC/styled version looks a bit more robotic, but the customized version reads a bit better overall.

widows weeds by silversun pickups (2019) // ive known about silversun pickups for a while but never listened to any of their albums. this one has a fair bit of songs i liked :) - my favs are neon wound, straw man, songbirds, and simpatico

weird revolution by butthole surfers (2001) // a surprising love i also found this year! i was initially drawn in by the name of the band and the album artwork being so fun. again a fair amount of songs i liked. - my favs are shame of life, shit like that, intelligent guy, get down, and yentel

carrie by stephen king (fiction, 1974) // im almost done with it and i feel it to be better than any movie adaptation ive seen. Its suspenseful and heartbreaking.

sex at dawn by christopher ryan and cacilda jetha (non-fiction, 2010) // im half way through this book i was reading over the summer. im definetely planning on finishing it this year. I appreciate it for helping me expand my mind on what sex is and what it can be.

tar, 2022, R, drama dir. todd field main player: cate blanchet - dude i cant stop thinking about this movie... its kinds pretentious and has a mildly confusing plot, but i love it... i feel compelled to rewatch it just to gather more information i may have missed on my first viewing. quite frankly this movie is listed purely based on its unbreakable and mysterious hold over me. also its beautiful.

uncle buck, 1989, PG, comedy dir. john hughes main player: john candy - this movie was so unexpectantly sweet! i hadnt ever seen anything featuring john candy, and i found him to be incredibly charming and lovable. I also found myself laughing a lot and left it feeling warm inside.

contact, 1997, PG, sci-fi dir. robert zemeckis main player: jodie foster - this one is wild. ive always been a sucker for the scifi genre, but this one also tackles religion making it a very interesting look at the rifts and overlaps between the two. that plus the messages regarding grief, communication, global culture, and the hypothetical politics of extraterrestrial contact are welcomed. loved this one :)

fools rush in, 1997, PG-13, romance/comedy dir. andy tennant main players: salma hayek/matthew perry - im not much of a romcom watcher, but this movie is very cute! it has some issues of its time, but overall i found it to be a fun watch, especially with my boyfriend. in light of matthew perry's passing (i watched this not too long before it happened) i felt compelled to add this one to the list. him and salma bring down to earth and genuine chemistry to this movie that was very sweet. <3

hi! I’ve been having so much fun writing again!! I saw this post about a Summer AU for Landoscar and it made my brain go brrrr. basically, the idea is that oscar has grown up in the same beach town all his life, and he goes off to university, but comes back home for the summer to work at the same arcade he’s worked at for years. one day, lando comes to oscar’s booth to hand in his tickets. lando is staying there for a week (or maybe longer?) with his family, and cue the whirlwind summer romance! I wasn’t sure about how long to have the vacation because I want to allow them time to not immediately click while still establishing a good foundation for them, but I’d like to capture the intensity of vacation relationships. also, the fic is set in the 90s or early 2000s, and I’d like to get some epistolary elements in there. I don’t know, I just feel a little enchanted with this little world!

Also Mundane Utility for when lab equipment is used for domestic things like making tea (health and safety nightmare), Stronger Than They Look when a mad scientist proves to be significantly tougher than what their appearance suggests, Sole Surviving Scientist, or That one where the scientist puts all their musings and theories in a journal that they keep on them at all times and is sometimes encrypted (even though that's not how you keep a Lab Notebook). I hope this suffices.

on a blanket sweep, all of these are great mad science tropes and frankly, are just the whole bases of why a lot of people like the aesthetic. Like yeah, this leaves out the gore and unethical experiments that are also very fun, but this list basically just covers all the more light-hearted aspects of the mad scientist's ideal

But you asked for ratings, and I am not one to disappoint! Under the cut because this post is already rather long

Shiny glasses- 10/10 if I could have anime shiny glasses so no one could ever see my eyes that would be literally ideal

evil laugh- 10/10 Im a sucker for a good evil laugh, especially when it shows the character as more unhinged/loosing their compossure rather than just being outright evil. A morally good mad scientist cackling maniacally when their weird experiment works is just as fulfilling as an evil one

Einstein hair- 10/10 again I am always for a big mess of frizzy hair, even unrelated to mad scientists (these ratings are going to be a little repetitive)

Lab Coat- 10000/10 lab coats hold all the gender, especially with blood stains (god I need to get myself a lab coat)

Parental scientist- 6/10, it has to be done well and even aside from that I'm not all too interested in parental relationships

Omnidisciplinary Scientist- 9/10 very fun! whats the point in being a mad scientist if you can't combine biology and engineering to create a living computer with a beating heart, then what's the point?

Lab Pet- 10/10 you know im a sucker for lab rats<3<3<3<3

Gratuitous Laboratory Flasks- 10/10 I personally have a collection of 3 so far and it just keeps expanding without my knowledge

Technicolor Toxin/Sickly Green Glow/Technicolor Science-1000000/10 WHATS THE POINT IF IT'S NOT HORRIFICALLY NEON AND OVER SATURATED!!

Mundane Utility- 5/10 look all I'm saying is you reap what you sew

Stronger Than They Look- 7/10 if it's not from some kind of self-experimentation I don't want it

Sole Surviving Scientist- 4/10 I'm indifferent to it, I prefer the ideal of a scientist working alone after being completely ostracized from the scientific community at large. The journal thing is fun, nice show of paranoia

Oh god… theres so many…… lemme pick some from each game. Kinda choosing to interpret side character kinda loosely for this.

0 - Nishitani. I would say Sagawa but idk if counts since hes kind of the main major antagonist of Majima’s campaign so. Im gonna say he doesnt count

1 - Does Haruka count? In 1? Not really? I dont know.

2 - Daigo? Does he even count?? I kinda think hes at his best in 2 and hes kind of a side character. If he doesnt count then. his mom Yayoi.

3 - Rikiya! No doubt!

4 - Hana? OR. Minami. I think he had potential

5 - I dunno I don’t really have anyone from 5 that would be considered a true side character. Park counts I think so ill say her (id say Majima but like hes not a side character to me, hes the main character of my heart)

6 - same for 6. I dont have any real strong feelings about the overall cast of 6 in particular. Majima is in it for 30 seconds so. him. again. Uh I do like Joongi but I dont think he counts as a side character, hes kind of a major antagonist.

A9 - favorite game location(s)?

Im a big sucker for neon cityscapes and bright lights, and ive always wanted to live in Japan so this question is kinda hard!! A large part of my enjoyment with these games has to do with how I just get absolutely lost in the environments sometimes- I think the view over the bridges in Sotenbori is so cool. I would sit there and stare at the lights reflecting off the river at night for hours if I could. Just chillin by riverbank.

But. That being said, I also really liked getting to explore Onomichi in 6. It feels so homely and its so beautiful especially when you go to the top of the observation deck and look down on everything, the view is really cool! I love the intimate and quiet feel of it all, everyone knows eachother. It seems like it would be a nice little town to live in irl

I do like Isezaki Ijincho especially the view at night on the water overlooking the giant buildings and the ferris wheel, buuut its absolutely massive and I feel like that place would be kinda overwhelming.

As far as a more specific place… purgatory is really cool. Yeah. I enjoy the visuals a lot.

Ohhh now you got me on my bullshit. Im gonna ramble a bit. I can talk about tattoos for hours... First off. I wanna start off by saying theyre ALL cool. Okay. Horitomo just does such a good job at making them all unique and vibrant and awesome. Im gonna be incredibly indecisive as usual but especially with this. Ive always had a fascination with irezumi, im obsessed with how much it says about the person bearing them and their dedication to the life.

To start, im particularly fond of Majima’s suit, of course. I know, shocker. Its just strange to me that hes the only one in the series with tattoos this extensive. I wonder why they didnt do more suits like his… it really stands out to me.

The thing I like most about it has to come down to just. The symbolism. The queer coding. And I just absolutely love the snakes and the sakura blossoms both symbolically and visually. The sakura blossoms really pop against the black of the mikiri. Im such a sucker for flowers and floral imagery. Also I really like that its not symmetrical. Well the hannya is, but I like that the snakes are all tangled and twisted in different poses. Super cool. Anyone who knows me knows im really fond of snakes, so I guess im biased. I dunno, it really is perfect for him. Plus I just love that his ass is tatted, ill never get over it

I really enjoy Minami’s mix of traditional and western tattoos, theyre just absolutely gorgeous! I think they look so cool and it immediately says a LOT about him as a character and his dedication to Majima. And again, im a sucker for snakes and florals.

but I also like the symbolic juxtaposition between Saejima and Shimano’s tigers… I like that they show two very different tattoos depicting the same animal- the protective strength of Saejima’s tiger vs the oppressive power of Shimano’s… yeah

I really enjoy Mine’s sick ass kirin, I think its really cool concept. Im happy someone has a kirin cuz I think theyre really neat- and oh Also!! Nakahara’s shisa and hibiscus are fuckin cool… very pretty. and Lee’s chinese dragons… god.

I often think about all the cool characters we meet that we just never get to see their tattoos. I bet some of them were really something to behold…

B1 - Which character do you relate to most and why?

Truly? Gonna get kinda pitiful and real for a second but Majima. Yeah? Yeah.. something about always kinda feeling like the butt of a joke. Feeling like you always get fucked over in the end. Feeling like you have to put up fronts to people to get them to like you- putting other people before myself always. Im way too selfless for my own good. Feeling like an outcast. Abandonment issues. the Clingy. low self esteem and sense of worth. Bisexual. also I wanna steal his gender. we both like knives?

Big part of why I like him so much is cuz I do find him relatable in ways. Am I projecting? Maybe a little. Theres some other things but you get it.

Uh, honorable mention to Nishiki. I understand that feeing of digging yourself in a hole that it feels like you cant get out of. Having big ambitions and aspirations when youre young and then just. Being alone and needing help and not having anyone there to give it to you etc etc. I get that. Also im kind of a crybaby sometimes.

I think the reason I tend to get attached to more tragic characters in general because I do find them more relatable and more interesting, I think characters with a bunch of flaws are just way more engaging for me.

I relate a tiny bit to Kiryu, but mostly just the resting bitch face and having a hard time expressing what I wanna say sometimes and only opening up to a select few people. Because thats a mood. Im also kind of a slob. Like Akiyama or Shinada. Oops

B2 - Whats a scene that never fails to make you cry?

Hm. Theres a few but really any scene with Kazuhiro Nakaya (VA for Nishiki and Ichiban) losing his composure just absolutely breaks me. The forest scene with Kiryu and Nishiki in 0, and oh GOD the ending of 7?? SO god damn emotional. He really brings it every time.

Theres loooots of scenes that make me really emotional.

C4 - Which character would you like to see as a protagonist?

Tough question. This is the question I kinda spent the longest time answering.

Just know first and foremost before anything else I always just want more playable Majima. Before any other character. Theres so much they could do with that.

But if were talking characters outside of the already playable, I guess…. I dunno. I wanna say Daigo just because I feel like he could be something. Hes… I like him, at least I want to like him anyway. I like the idea of him and idk what playing as him would entail exactly but it basically boils down to. Like. I just want him to be better fleshed out.

C11 - Which character has the best taste in clothing? Who has the worst?

Im not really a great fashion critique, but I think best is probably… hm. Gonna be weird and say Majima. I know. I know, but I *like* that he stands out, you can look at him and pick up what hes about immediately. Its like a big warning sign. I just think we need more men with their tits out. Also his shoes????? The chain?? Hello? I think he has the best taste in clothes simply because hes unabashedly a fashion disaster and wears what he likes… Does that make sense? More people should be like that. Id probably wear a snakeskin jacket too if I could pull it off

I think thats also why I gotta give props to Zhao as well. He just GOES for it. So much transmasc swag between the two of them lol

Worst is uh. Hm. Honestly most of the people in these games are pretty sharp dressers I honestly had to think kinda hard on this. I have a love hate relationship with Daigo’s outfit in 2. Thats really all I can think of.

Majima?

D5 - Which character do you think isn’t portrayed well/ is misunderstood by the fandom?

Overall I associate myself with people who have incredibly good takes on this series and characters and I try not to pay attention to the people with shit takes. But some people really just cant seem to understand what Majima is about.. you know the people who insist hes just crazy. You know. Im certainly not saying hes mentally well at all, but its like they dont know what a persona is- some people just water him down to ‘oh hes the crazy guy’. Also that weird subset of people who also insist that hes heterosexual. Or white? Im NEVER gonna get over that. Also Rook brings up a great point, a lot of people definitely gloss over the fact that Majima is overall kind of a shitty person and is undeniably abusive but its a super important part of who he is as a character and theres some people who choose to brush that under the rug. Which sucks. Because it does make him way more interesting!

Also kinda related but some people have bad takes on Sagawa.

D10 - What’s something everyone loves that you hate? (Mechanic, scene, character, etc)

Uh. I dunno honestly. I just dont think I have an answer for this one. Sorry, im pretty easy to please overall. I dont ask for much. I have a lot of gripes with these games but its the same ones most people have. And I just cant think of anything that I everyone loves but I personally hate on. I sat on this for like a full day and I really cant think of a solid answer. Hm. Idk. Its pretty difficult to make me truly hate something.

E1 - Explore: Kamurocho or Sotenbori?

This one is tough cuz I love both! And I know both like the back of my hand at this point….. im gonna say Sotenbori. If I had to pick a place to visit… the food just looks too good. And like I mentioned before the view from the bridges is cool. Its not small but its still kinda. Not as overwhelming as Kamurocho can be. So I think I prefer the overall vibe of Sotenbori a bit more.

F9 - What are you most likely to get arrested for?

Oh. Who, me? I dunno. Boring answers but either something related to shoplifting or being somewhere im not supposed to be. I get arrested for tryin to climb the giant crab or whatever.

✧ A/N: F-favorite?? Me? ₍ᐢ ›̥̥̥ ༝ ‹̥̥̥ ᐢ₎ im flustered

✧ Pulling two coins from your pocket you inserted them into the machine. Watching the colorful lights flicker on and come to life, loud rumbling emitting from the screen as pixelated zombies awaited. Picking up the rather large plastic blaster you playfully aimed it at the boy next to you, “Hands up Toge!” with narrowed eyes he snatched up a blaster of his own and knocked yours away.

“Spiced cod roe!” whipping around he started up the game with crescent eyes, Inumaki was a sucker for first person shooters.

Rushing to toss your blaster over the machine and onto its hook you clicked away at the trigger, “Stop starting the games without me!” 

Shoving each other left and right and focusing more on distracting one another than actually playing your characters died to the hoard of animated zombies, the ‘insert coin to continue’ emerging on screen to convince you to play again.

“Salmon! Tuna”

“It wasn’t my fault we lost!”

Looking around the colorful arcade you eyed all the machines, racing, dancing, claw games, and more aligned neatly for you to choose from. Multicolored lights shone from the celling and luminated the dark area, loud pop music blaring from the speakers had your foot tapping to the beat. Urging Inumaki along to search for something eye-catching you perked up at the sight of heavy vests and neon guns.

“Laser tag?”

“Chopped katsuobushi” grumbling at his bold statement you walked to the bright red line while Inumaki stood across from you on the blue side.

“I didn’t want to be on a team with you anyway” 

With uneven teams filled with people you’ve never met, you slipped on the weighted vest and collected your scoped gun that made siren sound effects with every pull of the trigger. Making your way out into the obstacle course that was painted with glow in the dark greens and oranges you stepped cautiously in fear your sly boyfriend would backstab you.

Loud hollers and cheers filled the dimly lit space as the repetitive buzzing sounded, bursts of red and blue lighting up as teams shot at each other and raced around the room. Spinning on your heels you held the surprisingly heavy gun up and fired at the random person creeping up behind you, blue invading your vision to signify your hit landed. 

“Oh Toge! I know your here~” tauntingly swinging the gun around you went tumbling to the ground as Inumakis body crashed into yours after trying to jump off barrels to ambush you.

In a heap of limbs you shot blindly trying to get points for your team, another explosion of blue had a grin pulling at your lips “That’s my point!”

“Tuna tuna” standing up and pulling you along he guided you to the exit and helped remove the large vest that left your shoulders aching, “Bonito flakes”

“Bathroom?”

“Salmon”

Wandering off towards the restrooms while you leaned against the wall and fished out the remaining tokens from your pocket, enough for a photo booth and dance dance revolution at most. The cranking sound of a handle turning had your eyes squinting to see the abundance of capsule machines in the distance, bounding off the wall you made your way to the toy area and gazed over all the little animated characters and animals the vending machines offered.

A painted rice ball poster had you slotting tokens and spinning the knob with eager hands, rolling down the machine you snatched up the plastic ball and peeled the lid off to reveal a sushi ring hidden away in the rice holder. Turning to look for any sign of Inumaki you threw more tokens into the machine and spun again to get your hands on another ring.

With warm cheeks you shoved the rice ball containers into your pockets and rushed back to the restrooms to see Inumaki walking out with a curious gaze meetung your flustered expression, “Mustard leaf?”

“Me? I’m fine! Let’s go use up the tokens on the photo booths!” with rushed words you bounced towards the decorative booths.

Shimming into the tight space your thighs pressed against Inumakis as you tapped at the screen, three photos. Sliding the curtain shut he watched you selected decorated photo trims and filters with a giddy smile on your lips.

The robotic voice signified a count down, brushing your hair down and leaning your head on Inumakis shoulder he unzipped his collar and smiled at the camera with red cheeks. The loud snap had you rushing to pick the rings out of your pockets.

With another countdown starting up you popped open the container and put the sushi ring on full display. Inumakis wide smile and your nervous face caught on camera as another snap sounded.

“Do you like it? It reminded me of you” slipping the band on he opened the other capsule and held your hand up to slide the similar ring onto your finger, “Salmon!”

Pressing your foreheads together his lips met yours in a delicate kiss, hands cupping each others cheeks to show off your matching rings to the camera.

Stepping out of the booth with fuzzy hearts and interlocked hands Inumaki pulled the photos out of the printer and stored them in his pocket for safe keeping.

“Hey! Let me see them”

“Katsuobushi!” sticking his hand out to look at the ring with a wide grin he glanced at the one adorning your finger and pulled it to his sealed lips.

“Stop being cute and show me the photos!”

it’s white and it’s bright, aisles lit and adorned with plushies, chocolates, and cheap wine. they need another pack, a new lighter, and something for the detective.

unfortunately, there’s no intimates here. no red lace, or silk, or even velvet. there’s flowers, though - red roses and babys breath. there’s pink tulips too if it means getting them into their bed tomorrow night.

they grab the closest bouquet of something white and wrapped in cellophane - along with some protection, and lets the overhead lights take them to the card aisle.

they’re reaching for a sarcastic, seductive ninety-nine cent card when they see another hand go for the same one.

“what are you doing here?!” they say, a teddy bear tucked under their arm. they’ll add it to their wolf from the carnival, they guess. they’ve got to scoff at what they say next.

and so their detective stands in the living room, dumbfounded. one hand hugs a ornate bouquet to them, the other holding onto a balloon with the string looped around their fingers.

“do you think it’s too much?” they ask. it’s been so long since they’ve celebrated this holiday - yet the hopeless romantic in them is glad they’ve got a reason to start the festivities again.

Red Bull: 2020

i shouldn’t have to defend this one. the light black suits w/ the like, neon scarlet? so clean. i was so close to picking 2018 but that year lacks the ICONIC red collar stripe which i love. AND they took away that godawful skinny gray stripe from the 2019 suit. Red Bull used to have hideous suits (im looking at u, 2016), and they’ve just been getting better and better since then. also look at max’s hips in pic 2 oh my god

Mercedes: 2017

gosh, that was the year they got the turquoise stripes SO right. right leg had like a swooshy teal, and the left leg was BLANK. asymmetrical KINGS. every other year the stripe was just too heavy handed. i’d have picked the 2020 suits based on sheer sexy factor (off the charts) but the stripe, sadly, again brings their whole look down. i gotta agree with lewis that the all black and white sponsors were kinda hot. red accents have no place here.

Williams: 2017

the lefthand black stripes were KING. there was just something so satisfying about this era of williams design. the red and the two-tone blue. the perfection of the martini logo. it’s like they knew what they wanted and weren’t going to apologize. plus susie wolff was a test driver that year. it was so hard to find a photo of them that didn’t have terrible coloring so i feel like these pics don’t really do them justice. who was the photographer for these shots i just wanna talk

Ferrari: 2017

tell all your friends: santander > missionwinnow. I just miss the era of white on red ferrari instead of now the black and red shit they got going on. stop it. get some help. I kinda feel like this was one of the only years where they managed to use the white stripes to good effect. they’re tiny and crisp and somehow manage to make the suit look somewhat flattering on both sebastian and kimi, who have wildly different body types??? also i miss the unproblematic simi days sue me

McLaren: 2018

sue me i wish i liked the blue and orange bc it’s such a nice color combo but 2019 just felt a little too google slides and the 2020 is just.... ‘70s scifi and not in a good way. the 2018 suit had a gentler orange, a nice minimalist style & the chandon logo with the little star, which i just adore. the black forearms/wrists is also a detail which i love. the shapes on these suits are just so satisfying.

Renault: 2018

the big honking castrol edge logo on every modern renault suit really brings these overalls down. this was honestly the CLOSEST call of any team, i was so close to choosing the tastefully black & narrow yellow striped 2019 overalls. it really came down to like, the font & numbers on the leg & the fact that i watched that year’s dumb pr vids so many times i convinced myself they looked good. i will say though that the amount of yellow on these is sexy instead of overdone like it was every other year previous.

Racing Point: 2019

RP has been around for three years, and it’s a bit of a goldilocks story in this case. 2018 had too little pink, and 2020 has too much pink. 2019 was not a perfect race suit, but it was the year they were closest to getting it right. the white stripe with pink borders down the legs is VERY nice & i appreciate a good dose of asymmetry. BONUS POINTS for pale pink boots. i’m a sucker for the pink car so I’d love to see a really well executed pink suit, and altho i think they’ve gone too far with the pink this year, I think they’re headed in the right direction. i’m counting this as a separate team from force india bc i didn’t want to have to choose between their color schemes
