The entirety of the ‘No’ campaign was based on ‘don’t divide Australia’, but in what fantasy world are we living in where indigenous and First Nations people’s voices are given the same consideration than that of the crusty dusty cis het white men with generational wealth from colonising this country less than 3 centuries ago? It is a disgrace that in 2023 this country voted AGAINST recognition of our indigenous people, and I’m going to acknowledge that part of the reason for this outcome was the absolutely fucking vile campaign fed to remote and primarily indigenous communities by people who did not have interest in equality and equity in their heart. Australia, today you made me proud to not have been born here, because you suck <3
