THIS IS A WIP (the shading omg I tremble) but I’m blaming @pianokantzart for getting me into the Mario fam vibe. Their amazing analyses plus wonderful fics (YES I READ THEM SHUSH) made my head drift into ‘what if’s’ scenarios and pls. Just. Papa Mario coming back from work tired, only to find out Mamma hasn’t come back from her work yet (coming from an immigrant family, everyone works, there’s no ‘house wife’ in an immigrant family), and finds the twins crying so he does his best to calm them down (he’s not very good at it) and finally after reading ten billion stories they fall asleep and he sits down with them in his arms (because he’s afraid to wake up plus, they are so cute!!!!) and ends up falling asleep on the couch, to be found later by his wife (who totally does not take a picture as quickly as she can).

The gag is Zoro and Shanks aren’t that different. Zoro is also completely reckless with his body less so now but I have no doubt that even now if he needed to cut off any part of his body to win, to save his crew he would do it without hesitation just like shanks.

And the thing is Mihawk would still fight him as long as Zoro can pick up a sword Mihawk would still fight him and relish in it.

Zoro loses an eye, Mihawk still trains him.

being disabled and having a support system is so important because it turns mundane (and often frustrating) tasks into acts of love.

everytime i clip my nails, i think of the high school teacher who helped me through seizures at least once a week for two years straight. everyday she’d gently take my hands and inspect my nails to make sure i was keeping them short enough that i couldn’t hurt myself while seizing.

it’s easier to be less ashamed of my mobility aids when one of my coworkers spent months building me different canes to use, colored to match my outfits and infused with glow-in-the-dark dye so i’d stop losing my cane in the dark parts of the building.

i eat cheesitz for salt when i’m feeling dizzy and it reminds me of high school, sitting next to my best friend and in the classroom of my favorite teacher who both kept salty snacks in their bags for when i wasn’t feeling good.

being disabled can suck in so many ways, but it’s also brought love into a lot of simple but impactful areas of my life.

main background: reuben and his ex wife had a daughter before she realized she was a lesbian and unfortunately, reuben is not a woman. SO they split custody in an amicable divorce and they’re still friends. because reuben is active duty though, his daughter mostly lives with her mom.

(for sake of clarity imma call the daughter paykid bc i cannot for the life of me decide on a name for her)

once the dagger squadron becomes a permanent one, the daggers get to meet her! fanboy already knew her, and he’s definitely her favorite among the squad. i like to think they bonded very quickly over a shared love for cartoons. and ofc im a fanback shipper so mickey wants to be seen as cool sooo badly even tho she already thinks he is!

my personal fav hc for them is that reuben’s lock screen is a picture of mickey and paykid wearing mouse ears when the three of them went to disneyland

the rest of the daggers meet her when reuben brings her to the beach one day. her second favorite dagger is jake, to reuben’s dismay 😭 jake is one of those people that respects kids as if they are adults so no babytalk or anything and paykid is like "youre cool. sorry for trying to drown you a lil while ago" and he's like "no worries kiddo. just tell ur dad to fly better" and reuben is gonna throw him out a window

I DO my idea is that its around the same age kevin and riko met in canon so tetsuji kicks the bucket when riko is 7/8 and riko is (very forcibly) removed from the nest and sidelined to kayleigh as a new moriyama asset from the main branch takes over the nest. riko struggles a lot with the change because he is very young and very scared and he’s used to horrible things at tetsuji’s hand, which means that he doesn’t trust kayleigh and finds kevin entirely too weird. it’s honestly really cute because i think at this point obviously 7 year old kevin wants to befriend him but riko is such an anxious ball of anger that most of their interactions are like

baby riko: what do you WANT from me. go AWAY!!!! NOW

baby kevin: (heavy irish accent) nothing i think. do you want a bite of my sandwich?

anyway i think riko and kayleigh do get along but he never really considers her his mother or even godmother, for a long time he thinks of her as his Benefactor until the child therapy starts hitting and she becomes Aunt Kayleigh and then after a few more years he can be loosely convinced to refer to her as auntie once or twice a year. his second son syndrome never really leaves him; in the upcoming years riko struggles with the idea that he’s anything But an add-on to the days and still overworks himself to death trying to be acknowledged by kengo, but it’s leaps better just from being outside the nest and having people to look out for him

riko and kevin have some rough patches, especially during riko’s first years with the days. because kevin is an easy target and riko is afraid of kayleigh he ends up letting a lot of that anger out on kevin, though obviously at this point they are children and riko’s anger manifests in some mild bullying and name calling. i think kevin doesn’t even understand it most of the time 😭 riko has been around grown ups his entire life so his adult level insults make no sense to kevin’s seven year old mind. nevertheless after kayleigh tells him to stop picking on kevin riko does respect it (first out of fear, then later because they actually get along) and they go on to become brothers with only a slight tendency towards antagonism. riko’s jealousy of kevin is still a big part of their relationship and i think even more so when college applications roll around, and he’s even more worried when wymack comes into the picture, but it never culminates into anything as horrible as hand breaking because riko has an actual outlet and a support system :) it’s mostly a yelling match that eventually turns to getting scolded by kayleigh for acting like barbarians
