I have an au I never rlly think abt where William didn't fall of a cliff and was instead eaten by the creechurs of the woods

And a specific young shapeshifter goes "this kid is dead, he probably has a loving family, I know what he looks like and want a family" and just decides to take his place (this is inspired by some other game or story just like this but I can't remember what it is xd)

So instead of smoke and fire and ghost powers and stuff, he can just change shape similarly to Vyncent in a way

But the shape the shifter takes isn't perfect, so maybe the original Will had like, dark brown hair, the new Will has black hair

Maybe new Wills eyes are just a little too wide and empty, maybe he's a little too pale, but his parents are so desperate because he's been missing for weeks, so they accept it anyway

And any slip-up is dismissed as, "oh, he was missing in the woods for weeks alone! Who knows what he saw, of course he can't remember a few things"

But David sees through it (even if he's only just really suspicious of new Will) and that's the reason why him and Will don't get along instead

Ok so for the last couple days ive been ill in the head about The Black Parade as mcr's alter ego/characters and i wanted to share some thoughts i had so far :3

It doesnt align with the canon lore that we have (i didnt really use it for reference at least) so it can be viewed as some sort of an au

I dont know if im gonna give them new names that just sound similar to the names of mcr themselves, so for now i will be referring to them by the names of the band members

So far I've been thinking about the typical "chosen by fate" scenario, where the characters lives lead them through a path for a specific cause

So

Post WW2 England

5 kids under their own circumstances witness a big parade (I will be doing some research and see if it could be some kind of victory celebration parade? It's just that I'm not sure if England had those. Not that I'm aiming for historical accuracy atp it's simple curiosity)

The kids get heavily impacted by that event and carry on (ha) that memory throughout their life

Now to the specifics of the characters cus by God they all gave me a headache

Heads up: they're all british orphans lol

Frank and Bob are students/residents in a Christian orphan school, and later on in life are priests in the town church

The reason why is that they both have badges on their uniform with crosses that could be associated with christianity

(I couldn't find any info about what exactly certain design details could be referencing, so ig it's up to interpretation)

The military theme in Gerard and Mikey's costumes will be explored on later (Mikey's medal could be either The Victoria Cross or The Distinguished Flying Cross, and the symbol on Gerard's shoulder is most likely the Order Of The Garter star)

And I couldn't figure out what to do w Ray, because I'm not sure if his uniform design details reference anything specific 🤷🏾🤷🏾🤷🏾

Now, Gerard and Mikey lost their father to war, and their mother passed away when they were both very young

And after that they ended up in the same orphanage as Ray, befriending him and finding out about their shared passion for music

This doodle was made abt that specifically <3

Later on in early adulthood they decide to start a cabaret band, in which Frank and Bob both join them later, deciding to leave their priest lives behind (partially because iirc both of them kinda fanboyed their way into the band irl lol)

After receiving little recognition, the band decides to take a train to America, to try their luck there. With a lot of hope and determination

That, sadly, doesn't last for long, for the train crushes with no survivors on board

The group crawls out of the collapsed train in their no longer physical forms. Yet, even after their death, they still have a desire to move forward. And that desire, though thoughtlessly, forces them to go forward. The souls of all the other people who lost their lives to the train accident follow them, through the landscape that no longer feels like earth

They then reach the end

Walking in one by one people disappear, finding their own peace and meeting their own finish line

After it's done, The Black Parade now have officially made themselves into what they're supposed to be. Gaining a new purpose and a new sort of life

I got too poetic for my own good here I fear .. anyway

Their job now is to lead the lost and the forgotten to the afterlife

They could be referred to as some kind of a grim reaper, I guess

I'm still thinking about adding more to the story, and maybe I will change some things, but so far this is all I can share really !! I hope if you've read this far you found this entertaining .. this is all for the satisfaction of my urges so I might or might not have too much fun w it in the future :3

The fact that Chuuya's kick sends Dazai so far, despite the fact that Chuuya's gravity would disable upon impact, kinda proves my theory that Dazai's ability would not stop the momentum caused by Chuuya's ability in motion. This is later confirmed in another sentence

I am literally never not in the mood to talk about wuthering heights!!!!

first things first, I read it over 3 yrs ago so I don't remember allllll the specifics (tho I have been feeling the itch to reread it......)

but from what I can remember (!) here's what I love abt it:

its so immersive! at least, it was for me. I had honestly forgotten that these things had even happened specifically, but I went back and read my goodreads review of it and I mention dreaming about the story and how after I finished it I sat on my bed for an hour doing absolutely nothing, because what was I meant to do? the world I had been living in had just dissipated before my eyes. I had trouble moving on after finishing wuthering heights; I would want to read but couldn't bring myself to pick up another book because that meant fully exiting its world. even though I don’t remember the contents of the dream or sitting on my bed, the feeling I had when reading wuthering heights still comes back to me whenever I think/talk abt it. its hard to put a finger on exactly what that feeling is but I can very distinctly identify it as wuthering heights.

its just so gothic. I lovelovelove gothicism. I love that wuthering heights is gothic in every possible way. theres ghosts and haunted manors and impassioned declarations and tragic ends and violent displays of love (more on this in the next point)

ever since I had to read love in the time of cholera for my sr yr english class I've been kind of obsessed with the concept of love as a violence. not violence used to desecrate love, but violence as an expression of love itself (probably also why I love hannibal lol). as aforementioned, I'm fascinated w the macabre of life. its just so interesting to see how many horrible actions can be not excused, but genuinely explained by love. love as a source of madness, desperation, desolation will always be one of my fav things to see in media

its not an unrequited love story with heathcliff the incel "nice guys always finish last" character. catherine and heathcliff truly truly love each other. but they r both in tricky spots. heathcliff is a person of color with a diminished social standing and catherine is a woman. these both hinder their options in life. I like that love does not conquer all and they don't end up together and heathcliff goes literally batshit bcos of it (kinda ties into my last point). the love is requited it just... can't be

everyone sucks!!!!! absolutely nothing means more to me than characters that fucking suck. like fr. every character is so different and yet exactly the same in the sense that you cannot morally justify liking one over the other. they are all, objectively, bad people, but at times u can't help but wish something good would happen to them, if only to find out if they would be better were their circumstances more favorable (they wouldn't ofc; most of the time, they just ruin whatever good thing even gets w in their vicinity)

I found the framing rlly interesting, the whole story w in a story thing. the end of the book was established at the beginning (or at least that's the assumption): lockwood comes to the grange and visits the heights and sees that everyone is miserable. so, the story begins: nelly is going to enlighten him as to how everyone at the heights came to be so rude and forlorn. but, that wasn't the end and I liked that. to me, it felt like brontë gave us a map at the beginning of the story and said "you're going to end up here" but once we got to that point, she just kept going. I think that strikes a rlly optimal balance of both direction and surprise. tbh I just rlly admire emily brontë as a writer

I believe thats all I can think of for now? I def have more to say on how, yes, everyone sucks, but the characters r still complex and the historical context surrounding when the book was written and the social commentary that comes along w heathcliff's identity and all that but I'm tired and feel bad its taken me this long to respond anyway!!! but def lmk what fell flat 4 u, I'm always curious to learn other ppls perspectives on books

Rowan - This is Hone by Cavetown. That song just feels like someone who's a tad lost on who they're meant to be but still knows that some people love them, and idk that's kinda Rowancore wrt the later parts of the Hibernation Arc

Fern - That's What I Want by Lil Nas X. It's the yearning 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 but also just a particularly desperate kind of yearning. You know what you want and you should know how to get it but no matter what you can't reach it, yk?

Dew - Too Sweet by Hozier. I've ranted abt this one On The Audio but yeah they're hesitant to get w Via because she's too sweet for them, and that hesitancy goes away as the song goes on (church bells etc etc)

Octavia - World's Smallest Violin by AJR. It's the thinking you're unremarkable it's the being unable to voice your own feelings it's the thinking you don't want to be like your friends too much it's just a pretty Via song (and it has musical connotations lmao that's an important bit)

Agate - Sunset on Summerville by Madds Buckley. It's a song about staying with someone even when they're going through tough times, what can I say lmao

Basil - Snow by Ricky Montgomery. THIS SONG. THIS FUCKING SONG. Maybe I'm misreading it since I'm tired and all but this song just feels like someone who WANTS to be forgotten, someone who laments their past and all their terrible previous decisions, but is determined to keep going and achieve their goals. And that's really Basilcore imo she wants Spark to bury the memory of her six feet in snow but she also wants to uphold Lavender (her sister)'s legacy and be an explorer.

so ive seen ppl talking abt how the crew's in a deadlock abt banishing ed and which ppl they think were pro-banishment and which were against, but the scenes with the crew make it look like everyone's voting for ed to get kicked out. so tbh i think like either of the following interpretations are pretty valid: the crew is split 50/50 on if they should banish ed OR the crew 100% wants to banish ed and stede was gonna try and leverage izzy's vote to try and get more ppl to change their mind. doesnt rlly matter either way tho

also the fact that izzy was the one to keep ed's body is. interesting. the others must've known abt it and helped izzy hide the body in the secret room. but izzy being the one to be like "no we're not throwing him overboard" is. something. no conclusions abt this atm im just rotating this fact in my brain.

i also just have a lot of thoughts abt the mutiny and the fact that like, jim's a trained assassin and the others are also pretty experienced killers and they probably knew they hadn't completely finished the job. and there was plenty of opportunity for them to do something about that. but instead they hid his body and waited for ed to succumb to his injuries. it feels kinda like ed's "technically i outsource the big job" rule. idk. thoughtssss.

also as someone who has been team "no ed was dead serious abt the plan to steal stede's identity" this was very vindicating for me. it's a bad plan and it doesn't make any sense but logistics literally dont matter in this show. what matters is giving this story the "falling for the mark" trope makes ed's character arc in season 1 that much tastier!!!!

I've read Beastars but ended dropping it. I adore the art and worldbuilding but uhh the story kinda feel flat.

Like. At the begging it was set to be this forbidden high school romance yet i feel like the story forgot abt it?lols.

The story *doesn't* has to adhere to its initial premise, but i feel like the author got too caught in the bigger, societal philosophical conflicts that the interpersonal conflict between Lugoshi and Hal wasn't developed that well. One big reason for that is that Hal (and other students too ngl) got sidelined. Her characters development was too rushed and didn't make sense, for me it felt like suddenly at some point she fell for Lugoshi and thats it?

Which also brings to one major reason for my dropping: the story is kinda sexist. And i have no patience for sexist manga anymore.

All the femele characters are either forgotten, sidelined or/and just there to be fanservice. One thing is for a manga to be horny in general (and i respect that. Dunmeshi that has a similar premise of "hunger and lust is pretty similar" did that very well), another thing is to plastered with panty shots of female characters that for some reason all use lingerie.

And the author expect the reader be fine that Hal stopped with all her hookups for the sake of Lugoshi while Lugoshi is in this ever constant dubious situation with female characters but it's fine because they initiated it and he was powerless against them! Yes i dropped it when that bunny called 9 (?) appeared. I fr dont have patience to deal with shounen/seinen bullshit.

Anyways i really like stories with an overarching narratives, that bring philosophical questions related to that world but if that comes at the cost of development of basically every characters except the two main (male) characters then the author is doing it wrong. Interpersonal conflict isn't and shouldn't be completely separated and ignored for the sake of Conflict Against The World, those two things *are* pretty connected and should be valued more if the story has the initial premise of a forbidden romance/love.

Anyways another point of that made me tired of the manga was that whole fight of Lugoshi against the murderer and why? It was pretty stupid. The author tried to justify ysuing Lugoshi as puppet for their words ("I'm doing it to affirm my justice!" Or whatever) but no its still pretty stupid. The reason is because the author didn't do any setup before the reveal of the murderer. The author again forgot abt other characters and their interpersonal conflict, including the initial setting (the story literally starts with that murder) because they got too caught in making Lugoshi have this philosophical questions nonstop and go to other places and meet other new characters that the already pre-existing characters get forgotten.

The conflict between Lugoshi and the murderer felt flat because we didn't even knew the name of the murderer beforehand (despite them being part of the club!) And the revelation was so...sudden. I know there is lots of ways to do mysteries, but the author didn't present the culprit beforehand nor showed us the audience any clue to set up for the reveal. Honestly i feel like the author suddenly remembered abt the murder plotline, pulled something out of their ass and went along it with. And that kinda something when in general beastars present itself as this deep and thoughtful story!

Anyway the end result is that now the author have this conflict between Lugoshi and the murderer. And the author want to write a Big Fight to show us the differences between characters and all of that...! And the audience dont care. Because the author rushingly showed us the backstory of the murder without any set up to be a good reveal, and we dont care. Because the audience don't have any emotional connection with the murderer to begin with.

And because the audience dont care, because the story didn't have a proper setup, the fight is stupid because yeah it doesn't make any sense for Lugoshi not call the police. For me instead of thinking that Lugoshi didn't call the police due to his relationship with the murder and because, narratively, calling the police would ruin the plotline–I only thought that Lugoshi was having a Big Macho Moment and that made my view of him fall a little (which later got worse when he was getting dubious with other women)

Also last reason is that i got too upset that this manga was filled with queer coding that led to nothing. Tbh it kinda feel like queerbait but im not too sure to call it that. It felt frustrating nevertheless, especially considering the sexism in the manga.

So the concept of the campaign is every character is a fallen god who's forgotten their divine life, and they regain a shred of their memory and now must find a way to ascend due to the fact that only Whole Mortals can reincarnate/be reborn, but if you die as a mortal-body divine-soul That's It (yadda yadda, non-dnd approved type shit; there are actually multiple ways they could go about it but I have no idea what they'll do beyond revive the sun) - One player didn't do that, but it's fine, he is instead POSESSED by a goddess, it's chill, and I adore his backstory and he's the only one with a backstory tightly interwoven with the world's lore and local area the campaign takes place in he is THE ONLY MAN WHO MATTERS T O M E (/j)

I'm so bad at names, and I barely do the story in any game I play unless I'm forced to (I missed an event in ZZZ because I wasn't on the third chapter yet ;-;). So I don't remember if I've done, seen, or even heard of the Chenyu Vale story, but I do know Mondstadt, at least.

I love it when my friends actually get invested enough with my imagination/ideas that they actually tie things into the ever-working narrative ;u; sometimes I feel like people don't do it because (they don't fucking care lol) they don't want to overstep on something that's made up by you. I understand, but man, it feels so uplifting when it happens. Keep that man alive. Are you planning on revealing parts of their divine life as the campaign goes on? I remember watching this youtube short about DND where they basically say that each player is given a blank sheet, and as they progress through the story they learn more things about their characters based on outside reactions.

I only know Windblume Festival but if it's a required quest/event quest, then I've most likely played the others. Not in the sense that there's no fandom there, but that old players have either quit or lost interest. It makes me wonder if I even like genshin or if I write it because it's what I've been doing for so long.

also who wants to hear abt my weird af (yet kinda cool?) cabin tales roulette dream i had last night

so to start off, here are some Dream Logic things i Knew from the start:

i was seeing everything from roderick's POV and could control him like a video game player character, even though i didn't feel like i was playing a video game bc there was no UI or controls

i was at the ending, which was wildly different from the actual episode's end

basically in turned out kevin was possessed by a powerful, reality-eating demon during his big argument scene (which was also the Mastermind behind the saw trap), and when he died that set the demon loose and it killed sam and jeremy. roderick somehow got away tho

the "game" ends with roderick escaping the basement into this old haunted-looking victorian mansion. he reaches a library/study room and finds a bunch of comic books scattered around depicting earlier scenes in the story, revealing to roderick that he's a fictional character.

this pisses him off, and he tries to make a break for it through the back garden but gets stuck at a locked door and is eaten by the demon

i had an overall sense of being pressed for time, like "ok i'll get to the ending real quick and then i have to go do the dishes 😒" or smthing like that

so the dream started with roderick in the victorian mansion, and i'm wondering how i want to handle the ending scene, bc having to watch roderick die from his POV spooked me in a major way the last time i got there. roderick reaches the study, and i think "hm what if i skip the books and just go outside right away?"

so i have roderick look at one book (bc it uses my designs and i think thats fun lol) and then make him go outside.

it turns out this gives me/roderick a head start against the demon as it hasn't reached the garden yet. i/roderick can hear its voice though, and it's mildly amused that roderick escaped outside so quickly.

while the demon is talking, i notice the locked door that gets roderick killed is surrounded by a chain link fence and think "i bet he could climb that and actually get outside."

so i make roderick hop the fence (if this causes him any pain i can't tell) and he escapes into like. a really shitty & sparse public park. the kind that's all half-dying grass and maybe 5 trees. at this point the demon is back to taunting him, saying "it doesn't matter if you get a head start or even if you hide from me, i'll just destroy your reality until i find you >:)" (if this frightens roderick i can't tell)

i/roderick start running through the park, hop another fence, and at this point i've forgotten about whatever other commitment i was supposed to do bc i'm like "oh shit! i just discovered a new ending! :D"

roderick hopes another fence and now he's on some kind of paved trail next to a concrete river (image for if you've never seen such a thing). i know that's way too big for him to jump, so i have him run along the river hoping to find a bridge, even if this means losing the head start. i spot a bridge up ahead, but i also hear big, heavy footsteps in the distance

I think I've always talked abt this but mainly sewing ✨ has a lot to do w them growing up on a farm that mainly produces silk, their mom is a seamstress and their dad is a farmer idk if I've dumped that lol (throwing in bonus trivia that their mom is named Marmalade and their dad is Crimson cuz this is never brought up either and I need excuses lmao) so yes Lio did learn how to sew from their mom, probs know a bit of farming knowledge from their dad too, idk if I'll consider it a hobby but Lio def has some soft spot of watching plants grow and taking care of creachurs even if it's not rlly their main thing™ to them it's more like duty but they wouldn't mind doing it for the rest of their life either, I've dumped this I think but they sewed their own cape

Another would probs be baking tbh I always hced Lio to be more of a baking guy than a cooking guy (Jingle is the cooking guy lmao more on that in his section) I'd think they also learned it from their mom though it's not rlly her main forte either, I only hc thing cuz she makes the best pumpkin pies apple pies and carrot caked (in which I have never tasted either of these LMAO but they reeked of autumn enough I slapped these on for the aesthetic, also cuz there's canonically a harvest festival around autumn that's Lio's fav season so it only made sense), Lio probs only learned these specific recipes so they can make it for themselves when they feel like it lmao

Also post arc Lio will eventually go on to take up pottery ✨ idk if I've dumped this lol but it's a thing I came up on a whim a couple years back and for some reason it just fit them a lottt seeing as it's something that needs a lot of patience, and they're exactly the time to sit in a spot for hours on end quietly trying to perfect something (though from what I've heard it's a kind of hobby that's also frustrating when you fuck up cuz u have to start all over lmao, Lio is the type to pull through thou) they usually create little mugs/bowls and also love painting them, I think this is the default gift they will give ppl (they make them for Jingle all the time lol) either way never thought in depth how they picked it up post arc, I just hced they felt like picking up something new after the long journey to refresh their mind or whatever and they figured they wanna make things™

cooking 🔥 mainly!!! As we all know mf is theeeeeee master chef of the entire cast, I wanna put him inna room w Maca and Rurene just to see them have a cook off lol (but you don't know much abt those blorbos so that's a thing for another day), Jingle's main hobby has a lot to do w his mom running a cafeteria and him helping out ever since he was a kid, he basically grew up learning the skill and cooked for his family fairly often, knows hundreds of recipes by heart and can taste out what ingredients are in a food upon tasting it lmao, Jingle cookbook when!!!!!! (Pepper canonically jokes abt this actually) but yeah he's good at it and flexes the skill quite often lol has extremely high standards for food and *will* chew you out over questionable food combos, but if he thinks a questionable combo is good himself he will defend it w his whole being and you will never win lmaooo Anyways idk if I wanna put baking as another hobby cuz it rlly does go in line w his cooking, it's a thing that goes hand in hand rlly though I kinda always hced he's better at cooking slightly, though he does have a snack mainly for making desserts, idk if smoothies count cuz that's another one of his fav things to make esp berry flavoured ones

Ig another fun one is dressing up lmaooo idk if this counts as a hobby but this is something he genuinely loves, just matching outfits and looking fashionable you just knowww his wardrobe is loaded (Rei likes to help him w this), he puts a lotttt of effort into his appearance and looks good for himself rlly instead of as a way to attract others (though that does come as a bonus and he likes to tease ppl for it) it's basically some sortttt of subversion for the trope cuz usually the flirty tease™ is known to purposely wanna look good for others' appeal (nothing against this that is) but I find it infinitely more interesting when the char does it in a way that is for self indulgence and has no intention of looking nice for others, but because of that confident energy they naturally have that charisma™

Anyways idk if this counts either but a little thing he likes is making flower crowns lol esp when going on picnics, I think having growing up in a small town makes him quite fond of nature in a way cuz he spent a lot of time as a kid exploring the woods w Rin (Rin was def the more adventurous one though) he's not that much of an explorer post arc though I'd like to think he tends to reminisce abt it by interacting w nature in a more peaceful way that calms his mind rather than reminding him of how dangerous it was, though this is also something I'm coming up on a whim cuz I rlly did slap this hobby for him for the sake of it fits his aesthetic lmao, it's just a fun thing to keep his hands busy when he thinks cooking/baking is too hectic (which can happen occasionally esp when it's what he mainly does for a living post arc), w that said he's also def the type to love making flower arrangements to decorate the cafeteria

Slightly off topic for a bit but I love how Lio's magic and identity as an explorer is quite separated from their pastimes, cuz they never intended to be an explorer to begin w and it's obvious they only learnt it at a later time for self defense, to them it is more like duty that they keep separate from their personal life, whilst Jingle's magic is completely intergrated in his hobbies cuz you just know he mainly picked up on them as basics back before he became an explorer, and even after retiring he is still fond of them and continues to use them in a way that satisfies his life post arc

Truffs

This guy is the collector everrrrrrr I can go on and on abt this lmao I think Truffs being a collector is a hc since pretty much forever tbh, I just know this adventurous spirit is the type to find cool rocks on his journey and hoard them (he literally has a pet rock collection), a load of other stuff he hoards are feathers, leaves, sticks, seashells, anything in nature rlly, I think it's a way for him to express how fond he is for the little things he find tbh, guy finds a thing and decides to keep it forever kinda applies to all of his hobbies, exactly the type to find rock in a cool shape and go around telling ppl about it, he already does it w oh look cool bug!!! Except he would rather have the bug alive in the wild so instead of keeping it in a jar he would feed them lmao, I think a bonus somewhat off topic thing is Truffs as a hoarder is slightly diff from Cindy as a hoarder cuz Cindy hoards to make new things from her peculiar trinkets (and usually doesn't have to be from nature, she's the kind to ravage through a junkyard to find bits and bolts and go ohhhhh I know what I can do w this then forgets abt it for years before it finally has a use, Truffs more so collects to preserve and almost always keeps it in it's original form as a way to appreciate what he found I'd say

Anyways on the same vein of his collector attitude he also loves photography ✨ I think this is a thing he picked up from Clover tbh (be glad you didn't ask Clover Hobbies™ cuz that is a whole novel on it's own guy does everything) but yeah Truffs and Clover always go on journeys to take pics of cool things, Toffee getting unfortunately dragged around cuz "we have to go allllll the way up there for a good shot!!!" also this is written in my blorbo profile notes drafts but mf apparently owns 10 photo albums lmao

To combine 🔥 his peculiar findings and pictures into one single hobby Truffs is also a scrapbook enthusiast ☝️ but yeah all his hobbies are of the same vibes rlly and I just knoww his scrapbooks are the messiest looking things and alll over the place but you can see it's made w heart lol, in a way it's quite similar to journaling without the words, Truffs more so associates his journeys with items he finds and things he saw so compiling them in itself is sorta like keeping a diary for him, this guy does not have the patience to sit down and write words on a page but you will find him in a corner w scattered scraps on the floor and having the time of his life pasting and piecing them together into an elaborate concoction, also he very much shows them to ppl allllll the time like "oooh did you know I make scrapbooks?!" I think it goes without saying that Rei loves crystals lol again it has a lot to do w her magic but also she def only picked up on crystal magic because of her fondness for it, she's a crystal collector but not in the Truffs way but solely because she wants to make jewelry out of them, she likely picked it up as a way to bring her crystals around easier but it ended up becoming something she enjoys, ngl like the Jingle making flower crowns thing I honestly came up w this for the sole aesthetic factor lmao so I honestly don't know how and where she picked up the hobby, it could be during her time when she lived in Mount. Kimoru and receiving jewels as a little girl is pretty common esp when she was pretty much spoiled and pampered by the Tree Fam

W that said I think she also just like making cute accessories in general, like beaded bracelets/necklaces/earrings (I should probs draw her wearing them tbh, even the current Rei outfit is a bit outdated cuz I have some slight tweaks in my head, she also has a shit load of bows and hairties and upon asking if you can have one she'll be all petty abt it even if she never actually wears them all lmao, but this also means if she does give you one you're probably someone that earned it (think the time she gave Jingle a hairtie when they started bonding more)

My first thought upon being asked this is *you probably only asked just to know the blood type conventions in universe* lmao and tbh while I never thought too hard abt it (or at all cuz like many things it's not very relevant, it's the equivalent of knowing a char's exact height and weight lol in which I actually do somewhat keep track of to know who's tallest to shortest), but yeah ngl I don't think they follow our ideas of what blood type is tbh, animals in our world alone don't even have the same blood types as humans do so imagine what is it like for a fantasy universe where there's millions of possible hybrid combinations

Similar to horoscopes I also don't bother assigning it to blorbos just purely based on vibes lmao esp when it doesn't rlly add anything to the character or story hence the existence of constellations (among other things), lifeblood in universe is very heavily implied to be a raw magic force for every life form in existence so it only makes sense that every being at the core is made of the same thing lol, so yes it's still blood but probably not limited to just insert categories cuz it doesn't feel lore relevant to make said categories exist at all, imagine donating blood and they're just all compiled in one single blood bank™ anyone can save anyone deal lmao

The only so called exceptions is probably how immortal blood and mortal blood are different in nature, there's a reason immortals can internally wield magic whilst mortals can only use it as an external resource, immortal blood is more magically concentrated by default that their life force is inherently stronger, also explains why attempting to infuse immortality in a mortal vessel (like in Thorn's case lmao) can cause several issues and mutations, so yes while we don't have the conventional *if the wrong blood mixes things fuck up* we do have *if the wrong blood mixes things fuck up but worse* lmaoo

Ngl I think their playlists while having songs that relate to their character story wise it is also pretty much what they usually listen too lol, though I def had plans to tweak the Jingle playlist a taddd bit cuz it's honestly too dark for my current taste and I want more of his char to shine through instead of solely his trauma lmao

But overall

Lio - mostly soft acoustic w the occasional louder tunes, in some way it shows their timid humble nature but also how they're determined and dedicated at their core, the entirety of their playlist def reeks of what they listen too tbh

Going in line w the ORCA/OWL question I think it's 100% required in the ORCA for all recruits w the strict regulations as we all know, though I think it's mostly basic first aid and medical knowledge and only those that are specialized in healing magic go on to learn further details abt the expertise, so canon wise in the main four Truffs would be the most knowledgeable in this regard, though I think Lio is def someone that went on to learn more cuz they're paranoid like that and there's no harm in knowing more than they already do lmao

In terms of OWL I'm so sure it was pushed by Conifer cuz Orion is the kinda bastard to overlook it lmao though he does try his best to make sure all the recruits don't get hurt (esp Rei) which is ironic cuz he never takes the advice himself (this is a whole plot point that leads to their fallout down the line but that's another tangent lol), so while Rei has the knowledge she's way more likely to do everything w brute force, who needs healing magic when you defend yourself well enough to not get hurt deal lmao

prompt if you want? uh so while my friend and I were watching The Last Dragonlord we started talking about what if Balinor went back to Ealdor after disappearing for 5 or so years bc it seemed like Uther and Camelot in general had completely forgotten abt him. we talked abt Merlin growing up with a dad, already having better control and knowledge of magic bc of him, but then when they need a dragonlord bc of Kilgarah Gaius looks to Merlin to check if it's ok and steps up and says that he might know where to find a dragonlord, but he "doesn't know the name" and so Merlin and Arthur go on the quest and the whole time Merlin is just kind of sweating and nervous bc Arthur has technically met his father already but only briefly bc he stayed on the sidelines when they had gone to Ealdor to help before. but anyways Arthur ends up finding out that Merlin's dad is the dragonlord and he has to decide whether he tells Uther or not after they send Kilgarah away (either Balinor lives and sends him away or he still dies and Merlin sends him away idk)

This sounds kinda funky ngl, I haven't really written about Balinor all that much before.

So like... Merlin is definitely more competent with his magic (and just in general lol) because he had two parents keeping an eye on him when he was a troublesome toddler instead of just one. I imagine they're like... SUPER close, because they have this very special and powerful bond with their magic and the Dragon stuff. Balinor definitely raises him on stories of Camelot and what it was like before (and, maybe when he's older, how kind and cool Uther and Igraine used to be before... before). Then Merlin gets sent to Camelot because they want him to be a physician, like Gaius, he's desperate to go see it, and because Balinor is at least semi aware that Merlin is meant for greater things than life as a farmer. He thinks it's got to be more than coincidence that he and Uther have sons that are around the same age, especially given how much Arthur is raised to hate magic, and how much pure magic is running through Merlin’s veins. Not that he tells Merlin this.

But anyway, yeah, Arthur is aware of Balinor. Merlin and his father were kinda eager to keep Arthur away from him when they've been to Ealdor in the past, just in case, but they've definitely met briefly and Arthur will 100% recognise him. All the way there Merlin is going 😬 whilst Arthur keeps muttering about "I'm sure I've travelled this route before... hmm." then they get there and Merlin has already sent a mental message ahead to his father (yes, they can do that, because I said so) warning him, so he meets them a little out of the village and it's all very awkward and "HE... BUT... YOU.... DRAGONS....... MAGIC!!" from Arthur until he gets over it. Instead of Arthur being passed out and Balinor raising his eyebrow at Merlin, Merlin goes off to fetch firewood and Balinor goes "Hurt my son, break his heart, I'll turn that Dragon right back around again."

He's not a great liar, but he's not Ann lol. Something he tends to do when he has to lie is that he anchors himself in a half truth as a base, if that makes sense? It's easier to pretend when not all of it is a lie. As for tells, hmm 🤔 I feel like his eyes dart around a lot more. As in, glancing at you to watch your reaction but only for a few seconds before you get suspicious, that kinda stuff.

(I feel like the difference between him lying and him being honestly vulnerable is that when he's opening up in earnest he'll mostly avoid looking at you out of embarrassment. He's more over the place when he's lying, you know?)

He probably also just does what he usually does when he's nervous, but that's easier to mistake for honest vulnerability, heh ^^

Oh, I haven't really thought much about it... 🤔 I do know he's a fan of protein, and the only thing he knows how to cook in the P5R AU is eggs (because pet chickens...) so maybe that? Scrambled eggs? ^^

For Artekai, probably to die for a greater cause. I just think he hasn't found a moment significant enough. And he's already come this far, where isn't he willing to go? I definitely think that what he truly wants is a life purpose, he's just channeling it towards death (if that makes sense) because, even after learning he's not a bridge between humans and machines like he thought, he still idolizes Banukai and wants to die fighting for others just like her.

(I do think he would've died protecting Beta with Varl if Fross hadn't been there to stop him. But I digress)

And Kaito... he just wants to be able to protect his loved ones :') And all of the time and effort he's put into his training shows what he's willing to do to protect them. He doesn't want to lose anyone else ;-; (he'd also be willing to sacrifice himself to protect others though, it's just not his end goal)

His biggest fears are both being abandoned and being forgotten. I think there's a pretty clear link between his trauma and his fears for both versions of him hehe ^^

Hmmmmmm I'm a bit torn on this one, but I'll say (tentatively) that I think Artekai believes in luck more than Kaito does 🤔

I've always had this idea that Artekai always carries an animal talisman on him for good luck (yeah it's because that's how I play HZD asdfghgfd sorry) but... huh. Now that I think about it, it might be for comfort more than for good luck. You know, because sometimes it's grounding to just touch a thing ^^ But hey, it's probably a mix of both.

As for Kaito, he's been getting ready for something bad to happen ever since the Rumi incident. I think it's inevitable to him. Not a matter of good or bad luck, but just... life is hard and something is bound to happen to everyone. You know? You win some, you lose some. Idk.

Both of them believe in skill more than luck, but I think the difference is that Artekai is playing with the odds way more than Kaito does 🤔Does that make sense?

Either way, he's not very lucky, but he's certainly luckier than those who didn't make it out with their lives at least :')

Hmm. It depends on what era Kai is currently in and how young is the younger self he's talking to. But, as a baseline, train hard, cherish the ones you love, and keep them close? 🤔 It's not too different to what his younger self was already doing, but I don't think he'd do much differently (with the information he had at the time, if that makes sense). He did his best with what he had and it was a learning experience and he's content with that ^^

Though I can picture him asking his younger self to try to be less petty and let go of grudges. Like, for P5R!Kai, he lost a lot of valuable time he could've had with his dad pushing him away and refusing any attempts to connect out of spite :(

Out of the classic ones, I feel like it's quality time (especially for receiving) and a close second is acts of service (but especially for giving)!!!

I think it's clear that words of affirmation alone don't do it for Kai, you need to show that you really do want him around, that you appreciate his presence and want to create memories with him. It's here where Takuto comes up short in the P5R AU, and also why Artekai's so obsessed with Fross, who just clings to him like a moth to a flame.

(I guess the opposite would be his hate language too lol. When he gets pissed, he straight up just leaves lol)

As for acts of service, I'm putting "training hard and polishing his fighting skills so he can protect his loved ones" in this category. His first aid knowledge too. They might not be errands, but it's the very best thing Kai can do for you! ^^

I like to look at Frosskai's humble beginnings as an example of how Kai shows love ^^ Aside from patching Fross up after accidentally stabbing him, hehe, one of the first things he did was go hunting to get breakfast just for him. And to show him he could provide for him, hehe. Artekai will hunt for you! He'll get you furs to keep you warm during winter! He'll find shelter for you in the wilds! Maybe that blurs the lines a bit with gift giving, but it's mostly about the survival skills, you know? He didn't just learn those for himself but to be able to protect those around him ;-;

As for non-traditional ones!! Love love love the idea of his love language including doing other people's hair and face paint. Especially weak for the idea of P5R!Kai braiding Sumi's hair and Horizon!Kai helping Aloy with her face paint :3 And I also like thinking of P5R!Kai becoming a hairdresser when he grows up! (he would not only enjoy it but he could be the most trans-friendly hairdresser around. Just saying ^^)

Well, I headcanon that, when his hair is in a braid, he tends to grab it or play with it when he's nervous, so we could interpret that as him being comforted when people play with his hair ^^ It'd definitely align with his love languages :3

But he's also one for keeping his mind occupied. I feel like playing the drums and practicing archery genuinely help him unwind. It's the familiarity of it, you know?

There's also music. Since I first thought of the P5R AU, I had this idea that, when things get really, really bad, like bad enough to not be able to distract himself with anything else, what he does is he huddles up in a corner (it's safer if no one can sneak up from behind) and slips on his headphones to avoid the silence :')

My take is, that Ashton is not used to hanging out with/ respecting people who have their shit and he seems almost intimidated by him?? I honestly think he really likes orym but also has no idea how to interact with him. Which is not helped by Orym shutting down on him so often! Which is the other thing I noticed with those two: Ashton/Tal will try to start a thing and Orym/Liam basically stonewalls him. Not in an unkind way, but he just doesn't react to him. i do agree with your insight on taliesin and liam's characters though! i'm not far enough in c1 to notice anything so i can't speak to it much but i do notice it a lot with mollymauk/caduceus and caleb. i'm not sure i've seen it with orym and ashton thus far, but again, i might be missing it or forgot (hence why i'm relistening!). i'll try to keep an ear out for it, but i think orym is used to wrangling chaotic groups of people (the crown keepers in particular were...wild lil guys) and settles into the "normal and sane one" role.

interesting takes though! i myself am not fully settled into the idea that ashton is crushing on orym (again, only really 70% convinced and i think a good chunk of that is just me really liking ashrym XD) but i do agree that they're at least intrigued by him. i don't know if i think they're intimidated so much as they don't necessarily think they get to be friends with respectable people like orym. like a people like him don't get to be close people like orym, imogen and the like cause they're too good sorta way? i'm noticing as i'm listening through, ashton sorta had this issue with all the bells hells initially, except fearne who seemed more "on his level" and chaotic. everyone else (other than fcg and fearne) they're kinda like...coworker friendly with (idk how else to describe it lol). i also haven't noticed orym shutting down ashton personally, but we also might have different definitions of that ;3; and i might have forgotten or missed it, i can space out sometimes while listening and have to backtrack (which is why i take forever to listen to new episodes).
