Small note before the song: I decided not to change the song lyrics, but neither of the characters are girls! Mist is a guy (he/him) and Spark is an enby (they/them)

Notes:

1. This isn't fully canon (at least for now), I don't think this is how Mist and Spark's first kiss went lol

2. Though this song is about homophobia, that's not real in the world where FGCC takes place! Mist's feelings of unease are more so about his crush being on Spark and about his previous relationship

One of the bigger changes here is that Mist's hair didn't turn blue, it turned blonde after an accident in the KIT'S lab sprayed bleach on his hair (though he was wearing a mask and protective goggles so his face wasn't harmed)

BEFORE THE BEGINNING

Ok so fun fact I've had this idea for a while but I never really had the drive to write it lmaooooo

Corroded Copper - 0th Track

"Come on, Li, it'll be fine!" Spark said to their phone screen, their sister clearly doubtful.

"Spark, I love you, but you were late almost every day for your second and third years of high school, and you don't seem to be doing any better in that regard. Are you really sure you don't need a ride? Especially considering it's an 8AM class?" Lightning replied, each sentence hitting Spark harder than the last.

"No, I don't need you to do that, you're going to be busy tomorrow and I need all the practice I can get for learning how to really use public transport. Not to mention, my sleep is getting better, okay? I actually got eight hours of sleep today" Spark said, pouting as they dismissed their sister's words.

"Mhm, and how many of them were before the Sun rose, huh?" Lightning said, getting closer to her phone's screen and sticking her tongue out.

"Shut up!" Spark chuckled. "Anyways, to be honest, I'm kinda nervous about this, I don't really know anyone there..."

"What do you mean? Wasn't Basil- oh. Nevermind, sorry."

"Yeah yeah, Basil's going to study there too and we haven't talked in over a year by now, I've told the whole thing to you!" Spark raised their voice, but immediately shrunk back down and apologized.

"I'm sorry, I forgot. And honestly? You're better of without her. It wasn't right to leave you like that. Besides, see this as an opportunity to make new friends! I didn't meet my partner until we were halfway through uni, y'know?"

"You're not being fair to her, she was going through a lot too. Not that it meant she could just ditch me, but still. And yeah, I'll try to keep that in mind. Thanks, Li."

"No problem! I think I should hang up now, though, it's getting kinda late and I don't want to be late for work tomorrow. Good night, Spark, I love you, remember to turn your alarms on, and most importantly, sleep soon, okay?"

"Alright, alright. Love you too, Lightning. Good night." Spark said, hanging up and turning their phone screen off.

They looked at their own reflection in the dark phone screen. Their golden eyes stood out when surrounded by the dark circles their lack of sleep always got them. Their spiky hair laid messy, they had to take care of it tomorrow before heading out to class.

Spark turned around in their bed, looking at the ceiling and thinking over what college would be like. Would they make any friends? Would college be really as hard as everyone said? Should they really go there? No, that was just the sleep deprivation talking, they just needed some sleep. Spark closed their eyes for a few minutes, exhausted from what had been a very tiring day, and drifted off too sleep

Spark woke up with the sun hitting their eyes. They quickly scrambled to get their phone, turned the screen on, and checked the time: 7:45

"Fuck."
