#I'm 24 now and what comics I want to make don't look like that anymore

have I… not actually talked about why I taught myself how to draw? You guys don't understand cause every two months or so I catch myself starting to talk about this and delete it all because I'm positive I had said it like two months ago But I've searched for just about everything that might've resulted in this aside from searching "THE" and came up with nothing. No results, all the way back to 2013-2014 nothing there

I learned how to draw SPECIFICALLY to draw THE: Triple HeroEs one day. In middle school I sat myself down and told myself that if I didn't learn how to draw, THE was never going to get made so I went out and started practicing. Going back through the old tweets I had, towards the bottom all my THE tweets mention pen because I didn't feel confident enough in my own skills to try to do it myself and pen was always better than me in the drawing department when we were younger It's been a good, nearly 7 years of practice, and honestly, I only got really proud of my own art like… a little over a year ago. Sure I've been happy with it for a while, but not to the extent that I've actually made multiple propics for myself And also, just being able to look at what I've drawn and be actually proud of it makes it a lot easier to produce for an audience of one (I know a few of you guys like a lot of my nonsense, and i'm not taking away from that! I love you folks!) Anyhow, I'm getting off topic, but I love THE so much a lot in part because I directly owe this portion of my life that I find so much joy in to it. And no matter how many redesigns and story changes it goes through, that's not going to change One day, I'll make some THE comics again (yes, again, I did like 2.5 chapters junior year of high school… edgy stuff that is no longer canon). It deserves it.

I really enjoyed reading it and would love to see more of it if you’re wanting to do anything more with it!! Yes, The Clockmaster is absolutely gonna continue!

The reason I stopped making The Clockmaster is a series of events, the major one being that 3 years ago I suffered an arm injury that came with 24/7 chronic pain, which really took a toll on me and my relationship with drawing. For a period of time I couldn't create and after that drawing anything came with soul destroying pain which made it impossible to create new pages on a weekly basis. I am still dealing with it but after 3 years of physio and what not I am doing better than ever, and as you might have seen I'm even making comics again :)

I know the comic's been gone for quite some time but I have not lost any interest in making it. More than that, during my break I learned a lot about storytelling, making comics, making my process more efficient among many other things, so I'd like to think when TCM comes back it will be a delightful read haha! I hope the two bigass doujinshis I created during the break stand as a proof of that!

However, when it comes back The Clockmaster will definitely be released in a new format - I don't think I will be doing weekly updates anymore, I will be releasing it in chapters. Longer breaks, but each update will be a nice lengthy read. The main reason for that is that having created two whole comic books during my time away I learned I find it so much easier, more enjoyable and preferable to create and finish comics in their entirety prior to anyone seeing them. I think the doujinshis have much better pacing, the economy of storytelling comes into play big time, and the emotional buildups and payoffs land way better. I want that for The Clockmaster! I want it to be excellent! I want to see the whole dang forest and not just the trees :)

However, to be completely honest, the earliest Clockmaster will come back is winter 2024. The reason for that is so far my schedule is looking positively packed for the upcoming months. Firstly, I want to conclude the 2nd asoryuu doujinshi extravaganza and I predict the last orders will be sent out in March. After that I will be moving between countries. I don't want to disclose too much info about my private life but many things will change for me and things will be hectic at least until August if not September 2024. As I said, I want to release The Clockmaster in bigger chunks now, so the chunk will have to be drawn. That will take months. But it's coming back! Meet me here same time next year and Orion, Rosie and Garret will be right there with me!!

Lasty, to conclude this essay of an answer: Thank you for saying you enjoyed reading it. The Clockmaster is something very dear to my heart and even though I am creating it for myself there is this worrying voice at the back of my head that when it comes back noone will care, that it's been 3 years and everyone forgot, and that it's not fandom stuff so noone will give it the time of the day. But hearing you say you enjoyed reading it makes me feel that art is timeless in its ability to make people feel something and that I am capable of creating of art that does just that :)

Glad to see you here! I started planning this comic in July of 2023 due to not wanting my dream comic to be my first comic. This was supposed to be a short story, but... it's not going to be that anymore. I planned too much. I had too many ideas. I got too invested in the characters. Womp womp.

This comic is hand-drawn. This is because OK KO does this too and it looks funny. I color this digitally though, you can't make me buy a million colored pencils or markers. This is also going to be a big learning experience for me to draw things that aren't just characters. Bear with me, alphygoers.

I'll be updating with multiple pages every Sunday! I'm currently experimenting with what time works the best, but right now I'm trying out 12:00 PM MDT.

Alphys

Did you know she's in this comic? I sure didn't. This came to me as a surprise. Alphys is a teacher at Toriel's school on the surface (this takes place around a year after Undertale's pacifist route). However, she got hit by a bus and ended up in the setting of Mew Mew Kissy Cutie! Uh oh! How tragic! Isn't that tragic?

Rouxls Kaard

Rouxls was hit by a bus, so he's here too. He suddenly showed up with hopes of teaming up with our nerd emoji of a protagonist. Cool.

Mew Mew Clowder

The leader of the Kissy Cuties. Overly cutesy and outgoing. Reminiscent of Raku-chan from Nyan Neko Sugar Girls.

Natsuko Mischief-Scurry

15-year-old magical squirrel of the Kissy Cuties. They fly around and weild an energy spear. They seem really bitter.

Youmu Mischief-Scurry

Purple-haired rat magical girl with a giant hammer. She's a lot quieter than the other Kissy Cuties and does things of her own accord.

High ponytail Bloom will always been inferior to braids Bloom in my heart and soul but this is super super cute!! It looks more....fashionable and....Stella-y than I think og Bloom would wear, especially with the gloves, hair, and thigh highs, which is throwing me off, but it's still gorgeous

OH MY FUCKING GOD SHE HAS PIGTAILS!!!! SHE AND MUSA ARE TWINSIES RN!!!! SHUT UP THIS IS SO CUTE!!!

And has the same shoe problem as Musa, but I'm completely and utterly obessed with Flora in a jumper sooooo

The thigh highs are really cute too, if your ignore the shoes, but baby, why do they keep doing that to y'alls bangs?? That much swoosh is unnecessary

Aisha about has the worst case of swoopy bangs out of them all

They intentionally go down to cover the middle of her forehead, it's driving me crazy

I know this is probably just a me thing, I can't stand hair touching my face and I wear headbands 24/7, but just seeing her hair makes me wanna fix it for her so it isn't touching her forehead anymore

Aside from that this outfit is perfect

Her boots are actually connected to her jumper, which is super pretty and fashion and surprisingly practical for her. She's covered in little fashion belts, she has a little harness (!!!!!!), and reinforcements on her outfit. Her earrings match, which I don't think was a priority but it's amazing anyways, and most of all she's wearing a shirt underneath the protective material, likely for fashion reasons because it really does tie the whole look together

Not a single aspect of this outfit is slipping, and I love it so much

Sonic Prime gush

Okay so first off: I hate the prime universe. Big is ugly, Knuckles sounds weird, Amy acts weird, Shadow acts weird, Rouge isn't showing her titties and everyone sort of acts like a budget 3D children's cartoon. The way they smile, and stand it scared me it was like Sonic Boom or Pac-Man or Mega Man...

Tho I looooove the animation, sometimes they seem to move like claymation, they're actually animated like cartoon characters! Something in the games Ive only seen in Sonic CHampionship and Sonic Riders!!

Also even tho the prime universe sucks, you barely see it!

Tho.. the weird wormy story telling is like... "dude why didn't you just have a longer intro instead of jumping back to finish the intro"

Like, it persists through the whole season so like... aunno I don't get it. My friend said that Ben10 man wrote this and it's a Ben10 thing but I never watched Ben10

She is basically mind-controlled by the Robotniks (then later Nine) so I wonder how much of her is her and how much of her is programming and how much of her is lost...

Shadow seems to be lost in the void and can only communicate with Sonic when he's running fast which causes him to warp similar to Sonic CD

Sonic also warps when he touches a jewel (sorta like Sonic CD except no)

I wonder if there will be six worlds: one that focuses on each character's social problem, on the rewatch I realized Amy cared about forests in the shattering, which, the jungle episode is about Thorny Rose wanting to defend the jungle at all costs.

Will there be a Rouge, Robotnik and Sonic worlds?

Okay I'm having some messy thoughts, but I really need to think aloud here.

Werewolf by Night, to some degree, is about family and the legacies it carries.

First we have Elsa, a member of the Bloodstone family that is essentially an outcast. Originally destined to inherit the bloodstone, she's now forced to compete with the other hunters for it. We don't get full details why she left or how she left (though in most of the movie we have a lot of context missing, for the best in my opinion). We just know she did and she's estranged. No longer worthy enough as a daughter or no longer enough of a daughter to be worthy enough for the stone.

But still she fights for it and claims that it is rightfully hers.

Then we have Jack. Jack arrives to what he likely assumes to be a normal funeral (I say this because while the other hunters appeared in hunting gear, he wore a dark, probably black, suit (EDIT: it's not black, but it's still a suit)) wearing Dia de los Muertos makeup. Makeup that is best described in the scene where he says it's to honor his ancestors. Interestingly, the other hunter he speaks to is a little.. dismissive towards that reasoning, let's say. Jack, based on facial expressions alone, is put off by that, but doesn't say much.

Later when he's stuck with Elsa, he discusses family. Saying that family is like an atmosphere constantly there. Saying that sometimes you think you can do one thing to make yourself different from them. Obviously this is directed towards Elsa who is currently sitting in front of her dead relatives. Who's trying to get the bloodstone herself for... whatever reason. Clearly she's not involved with her father anymore. Maybe this is thing that she'll change? Maybe she'll break the cycle by having the bloodstone and... what? Does she know?

And what about Jack. He's literally saying all this in Dia de los Muertos makeup!! In the comics, the werewolf curse is something he received through lineage. So is that the cycle he's trapped in? To be the monster his family made him? After centuries (?) of living, he's still not at peace with this curse. Maybe he's just given up on trying to fix any of it. Maybe he's trying to get Elsa to see something he thinks he's already figured out.

Oh, and the cage scene. He says "once". Not to bring in comics again But. Do you think that once was his sister? He clearly holds the memory close enough that he immediately tries to use it to protect Elsa. This is something he dwells on constantly. He just knew to try to repeat it the moment he realized the danger.

Elsa gets the bloodstone like she wanted. He doesn't kill Elsa like he feared he would. He frees Ted, the person he references as family and later a friend. Did they get that one change he was talking about? Can they break the cycle? Do the even know what part of the cycle they're trying to break?

... I can't help but think about how his makeup is almost completely faded at the end of the film.

yeah. pretty dumb and anticlimactic as far as endings would go. generally, i think this just comes from romanticized fantasies about seeing homelander 'subjugated' and 'controlled' but there in lies the flaw with the thinking.

*human beings*, just *fundamentally*, are not *MEANT* to be 'subjugated' or 'controlled', typically if they are aware of an attempt to do this, they are not happy with it and it *DEF* can't be something forced on someone without *MAJOR* consequences/resentment. homelander's been confirmed as someone who downright *hates* it, beyond a shadow of a doubt. over and over, he *rebels*, he's losing his fucking mind over it. but just any attempts to do so (especially disregarding consent cause there are some people who genuinely do like to give up control with *informed* consent, tho def outside of the sexual context too) do *not* end particularly well--just look at history. heads start to *roll*. it's a fuckin' trainwreck of repeated pattern with privileged, disconnected people thinking an entire population of tired and abused people won't... revolt. after being pushed too far.

*those who fail to learn from history are doomed to repeat it*

butcher's actually an interesting play on this because he's *resigned* himself to it. he *is* the villain of his own story, masks out his ass 24/7, and is now lookin' for his final fix--without someone else to pull him off the strings? he's a complete *puppet* for his father and *everything* that man wants (and he equally hates that *butt* believes he has *no choice*, that *what* he was made to be is incapable of change...)

but i def don't think homie would 'resign' himself to it (he's not as self aware as butcher). it would more likely just become another thing that proves him "right" about humanity, a new reason to double down on how awful the species has been to him and how much he hates them. and OOF, yes, OUCH. absolutely?? this i think would def qualify as 'cruel and unusual' for him--not just cause it is literally 'unusual' lmao but because he'd be forced to *be* the *thing* that has tormented him literally all his life.

i think the thing people might not get is that homelander has an *incredible* amount of self *RESTRAINT* for the amount of power that he has. all of this? would be *gone* if he lost his powers--the assumption would be he has *no reason to hold back anymore*. in fact, he'd be given a valid (in his mind, but arguably--) enough reason to fully *LET GO*. he'd be *willing* to do much more and not care about it. he'd have to get creative and be much less *lazy* than he is currently--but let's just say he's *very* good at learning from those around him... the main mistake that people make with him is that they never believe him to be capable of *outgrowing* his proposed 'masters'

every single time. he is angered by this. and every single time... he *does*.

as a survivor of narcissistic abuse, consistent observer of it (especially on the normalized day to day bullshit, hard to ignore once you learn to spot it) and knowing first hand what a constant attempt to *control* other people does to them (one of two endings. suicide or rebellion with very little outside of that and certainly nothing good or particularly desired.)

making the characters feel as *human* as possible (emotional/irrational decisions and all lmfao they're disasters just like us~! XD)

heavy focus on getting mental health *RIGHT*.(i'm guessing with a possible specialist for analysis on site if not telling stigmas to just up and eat a fat dick, either way--FUCK TO THE YES!!)

and y'all, so encouraging<3 that means they're trying to *keep* not just the gritty complexities and rawness that made the characters so fun and intricate and *humanly* flawed in the comics, but that they're *not* planning to shit all over mental health like big big chunks of this fandom (and society in general, unfortunately), tend to do.

*AND* they've even already *proven* as much with the way they handled hughie's *mum*. for those that missed it, she was there to help hughie get some closure (along with a final conversation with his dad, that was gut wrenching but so needed for his arc and what i suspect may come...) and she was incredibly well made for depression and *humanizing* that disease.

she voluntarily hospitalized herself instead of sticking around her son while she was going through crisis, after she had attempted *suicide* to spare him from seeing that. and as fucking painful and difficult as that is, she absolutely did the right thing by leaving. as bad as she hurt hughie, imagine if that 6 year old baby boy had walked in on his mother's suicide--she *knew* that was a posibility and it fucking hurts...

i think the saddest part about it is that she did what she needed to, did the right thing, but it was still something that ultimately hurt the people she loved and of course it was going to. she even tried to reach out when she was getting help, but with things like depression, there's always the risk of relapse and just all this bad shit. i was ready to be as pissed as hughie, and the show did such an incredible job of humanizing this woman and making me understand her situation.

y'all, never ever *ever* blame someone for prioritizing their own mental health and *literal* life. that is a *horrifically* toxic, abusive, and ableist as fuck thing to do. mental health is hella important. people ain't just here for our entertainment and you should always take care of yourself and your life first. of course it helps that she may just be the most rational character on this whole damn show and i fucking love it--

Depowering Homelander is one of the dumbest and most narratively inconsistent pipe dreams in circulation of the fandom. Apart from compound V being so ingrained in Homelander's very DNA that it is literally coded into the swimmers his balls make meaning he would logically just die if he got that much of his literal DNA destroyed, it would solve nothing and teach worse as they've already established a million times over that the issue isn't nature, it's nurture. I don't get how people don't get this. They even used Kimiko as an example to show us that her powers were not the source of her troubles and losing them solved nothing for her.

The Boys also aims on making their writing as realistic as possible with zero chance of Disney delulu lala land nonsense, at least not without complete disillusionment. Which means that the possibility of Homelander being depowered wouldn't result in him becoming less volatile or dangerous, it would realistically make him so much worse. He'd evolve to being like Butcher but worse because of the added element of what he's lost and been turned into. I know this fandom has some major issues with ableism and self consciousness, but the way people just casually drop the idea of backing an already caged and highly aggressive animal into an even smaller corner like that isn't the most cruel and unusual fucked up and terrible thing you could do that is also hellbound for complete and utter apocalyptic failure in a series that would undoubtedly portray it as such so the people advocating for it would hate it anyway?

Ranil Wickremesinghe bought won the Parliament vote and was declared Executive President for the remainder of Gota's term, despite only having had 30 thousand votes in the actual election 3 years ago and not even being able to win his own seat in Parliament. Protest movement again splintered as liberals deserted it for yet another promise of stability. Ranil, finally having achieved his lifelong ambition of becoming Executive President like his uncle JR Jayawardena (the greatest monster this country has ever produced) dispensed with the "tolerant, liberal, progressive, minority-friendly" image he built his career on and is now revealing himself a worse tyrant than Gota.

He intimidated our strongest allies, the Bar Association, into silence, and immediately made the Prevention of Terrorism Act even more Draconian. The government has been cracking down on all the protestors it can get their hands on. They forced us to dismantle Gotagogama, our pride and joy, and hand it and the Presidential Secretariat back to the government. Hours before the handover, the cops surrounded the area, boxed them in and attacked everyone within. They didnt even let the ambulances inside until they were done. They are now trying to fine the protestors for millions in "damage".

They have been using the media and sockpuppet social media accounts to push the narrative that the protestors are terrorists and anarchist-communists out to destabilise the country and grab power. It's working. Student leaders, members of the clergy, union leaders are being arrested and detained without charge, and theyve been hunting down the people who occupied the government buildings and arresting them, citing theft and vandalism. We are of course not taking any of this lying down, but now that the fuel and gas situation has eased somewhat under a rationing system, people are distracted trying to survive and the protests no longer have anywhere near the same thrust and power.

The proposed 23rd Amendment that was supposed to remove the executive powers of the President is shaping up to be as much of a joke as 22A was back in June. The attempts to form an All-Party Interim Government are also failing because the whole point of an interim government is calling elections as soon as possible, which Ranil never will, and the Opposition parties rightfully don't want to subject themselves to this asshole's authoritarian pro-Rajapaksa agenda.

And it is a Rajapaksa agenda. His chief goal is to protect the government party and the Rajapaksas and maybe even make the Rajapaksas look like the kinder alternative to pave the way for Gota to come back and the Rajapaksa scion Namal to make his Presidential bid in '24. It's why we're calling him Ranil Rajapaksa.

Things are so fucking bleak and dire that I stopped following the news or even going on Twitter because I become suicidal whenever I do. So I'm basically just looking after my cats, reading comics and trying to figure out reasons to keep living in this unending hellworld. I don't know the details or specifics of what's going on anymore, and this is the first time in a long time I've been able to bring myself to talk about it. The one thing I'm hanging onto is that so far, the protests have been driven by the sheer incompetence and greed of the government. Part of the incompetence is not understanding how far past endurance you can push people before they snap. Last time also, after the protests plateaued in May, we ended up storming the Presidential Mansion and Secretariat by July because they massively fucked up the opportunity to calm people down. For my part at least, I have no faith in people, but I do have faith in the ability of these power hungry bastards to dig their own graves. Question is how many of us they'll drag down with them.

Here’s a tiny little something that always makes my head tilt no matter hard I try to give it much thought: How exactly old were Dick and Tim when they first encountered each other at Haly Circus? in most tellings, Dick was apparently between 8 to 12 years old when he became Robin in order develop his bond with Bruce. Most, like myself admittedly, put him at 10 the most given that it provides ample time for Batman and Robin in being a solid team together before the Nightwing ascension. Yet Tim, at least as he’s drawn at first, was about a toddler when their families took the photo right before that fateful show and old enough to have a photographic memory of Dick’s flips to crack the identities of two. You’re thoughts on this dilemma?

Right so part of the dilemma imo can be attributed to the "comics can never draw babies correctly" phenomena. Personally I like the interpretation of Dick being 8 when Bruce took him in - which here causes an issue with how old Tim should be. Usually I put Tim at about 3 years old during this incident (which yeah this causes issues later on - Tim's clearly much younger than 5 years younger than Dick). But if I continue with the compressed timeline - which is purely made up by me, I put Dick leaving at 16 (way younger than most, I know), Jason at 13 joining the same year (Tim is 11). Then two years later Jason dies and Tim joins at 13, Dick age 18. Again this is way compressed and doesn't match canon.

If I were to keep Dick the same age (8) and make the ages line up with the "right" ages, I would choose to rewrite a bit of Tim's history to spice things up. I would make the assumption that most of the Flying Grayson's performances are recorded (including the last one) and uploaded on YouTube somewhere. Tim (around 6-7) having a passing interest in gymnastics would love watching the Flying Grayson's old videos. His parents are so not the type to be carefully watching what Tim's watching online so he hears about the last performance and finds it through googling and then watches it and it traumatizes him. This does get rid of Dick and Tim meeting as kids, but this could actually be really easy to reintroduce with Dick meeting Tim at a Gala/fundraiser event. The funny thing is, if you go by Rebirth canon - Jason's the one that saw Dick perform (I'm not sure if Tim did anymore), which kinda works with the ages - even if Dick is 8 (which in rebirth - though not the issue where jason sees him perform - Dick looks to be about 8 when Bruce takes him in).

Now if Dick was 10, and Tim was 3 at the Haley's Circus incident, this puts them at a 7 year age gap which I think makes everything a bit more reasonable. Dick leaves for the Titans at 17 (he's just dropped out of college which in US would put him at 18 usually, but being nice to my timeline, I'll say he's on the younger side), Jason joins age 12 (Tim is 10). Three years later, Dick is 20 when Jason dies at 15 and Tim joins at 13 (unfortunately, this doesn't match up with the 'i spent almost 12 years as Robin' line from ntt, so not every problem is solved). You do get bonus points if your timeline has Dick and Damian and Bruce and Dick meeting each other at the same ages, so when Tim is 17, and Dick is 24, they meet Damian age 10. And then to explain Bruce's age with dubious canon, I go with he was 21 in the beginning of Batman Year One, and 24 in the end of Year Three when he met Dick.

Because this is DC comics, if I want everything to work, I don't have to ask nicely, I can just say one of the speedsters accidentally broke time and Tim spent like 5 years as a four year old and no one noticed :D

2. What kind of emotions do the stars evoke for you, if any? The ocean, the sky, the moon? i think i might underappreciate the ocean a little too much. maybe because i basically grew up right by the seaside and have the most experience with like the coast and all that. i love the ocean though, especially the fully-clothed, chilling with a book and a stiff sea breeze type of ocean (absolutely hate the beach for summer beach things). all four make me feel very peaceful and thoughtful and grateful and small, but not in a bad way. i do have glow-in-the-dark stars in the shape of constellations (did i send you my star tour, bud?) on my bedroom ceiling...

If you have siblings, are you similar to them, and in what ways?  it's kind of funny because i used to think that my sister and i were very different, but as we've gotten older, i'm not so sure anymore. in many ways we still are very different, but especially as kids we both kind of marked our territory out once we were old enough. i was always academic and introverted and nerdy and she was always athletic and extroverted and not really into fandom stuff. she took team sports and i took individual artistic sports. i stole art from her (consciously! intentionally!) and did music and theatre. she took trends and teenage drinking (not a dig, lol) and lots and lots of friends. we're still pretty different: i'm still really academic and introverted and kind of a maximalist (hoarder), she's still very into aesthetics and extroverted, and is SO in neutrals and natural colors. but we've eased the boundaries a lot. we both love soccer and have a pretty wide overlap in our music taste. she is a photographer and we both love kids (especially HER kid). i think we value in a similar way and we're both NOT ones to get like... publically emotional without REAL reason... idk, we're not as different as we thought we were

What are you worried about right now, if anything? i'm always reminded of the penguin comic when i talk about the two of us and worrying. when am i ever NOT worried about something?? but honestly, between maturing a bit over the last ~half decade, and been on a decent dose of SSRIs for anxiety that i caught from the pandemmy, i'm at least BETTER about working around, through, and over my anxiety. that said i'm still worried, and specifically i'm worrying about the fact that i have to wake up a little bit early tomorrow and afraid that i'm going to oversleep

Do you think you "look" like your name? idk, i actually asked you this question because i wasn't sure. i like my name a lot. i think sarah is a lovely name and has a good meaning and story and lots (LOTS) of other sarahs that are great to take inspo from. sadie is a good nickname. i guess maybe i don't feel super connected to it because there are just so many other Sarahs? i wouldn't change it but it's hard to say that something suits me if there are 15 other people named Sarah in the room and we're all totally different, you know? i do love my middle name (mari) and think it suits me. it has family history and i share it with my mom

How do you want your body to be treated after your death? i have been an organ donor since i got my license (and actually STRONGLY believe that we should be opt out about organ donation, not opt in!!). outside of that, i'm less sure. i am so not into embalming and traditional burial. i have no interest in that at all. i guess i lean towards cremation or maybe one of the much more natural burials? i'm looking for something low fuss, low chemical, i guess haha

Do you find it easy to ask for help? not in the slightest. well, to be most specific (do you expect anything less) the more i trust a person, the more willing i am to ask for help, or the more "practical" the problem, like if something physically is wrong with my car, I'll ask one of my dads or a professional. i do have a gay audacity problem (i think i can handle all crafts, regardless of my actual experience) and i have no emotional problems to ask for help about >.>

Stephen Amell on a Divided 'Arrow' & What Has Him 'Pumped' for Oliver's Prison Stint

Arrow is back for its seventh season and things are clearly not vigilante-business as usual in Star City. Mainly because orange is the new green for Oliver Queen (Stephen Amell), who has be remanded to Slabside Maximum Security Prison for his Green Arrow antics and the rest of the team has been forced to curtail their own heroics in order to avoid further prosecution.

Obviously, something will have to bring the gang back into action, but it won't be Oliver. According to series star Stephen Amell, the hero who has given The CW an entire universe to play around in, has his hands full behind bars and won't be free to fight crime for a while.

Here, Amell explains what's got him so excited about the season's changes and how new blood behind the scenes has sharpened Arrow's edge.

Ok, you are a few episodes into the season, how's it going?

Stephen Amell: Everything's going great. Everything's going great, it's been a very strange, a very unique start to the season for me.

When I spoke with [showrunner] Beth Schwartz this summer at Comic-Con, she pretty much said that Oliver is not getting out of jail quickly.

Yeah, and so no, he doesn't. It's not like a season of 24 where Jack Bauer is put in prison by the Chinese government but then you realize that they're not gonna keep him in China for like nine episodes. [Laughs] He's gonna show up like 20 minutes into the show! So we've really isolated Oliver in prison and it's been a very interesting dynamic because I haven't been interacting with a ton of the cast.

Does it feel like you're on a different show right now?

It totally feels like I'm on a different show. We've seen in the preview that Oliver interacts with both Diggle (David Ramsey) and Felicity (Emily Bett Rickards) in the premiere, but then I go a stretch of episodes [alone]. In fact it was just last week, I worked with one of the regulars and that was the first time in months. It's been really strange, although there are people in prison that Oliver interacts with where there's some familiarity that we haven't yet seen in the previews.

Does being separated from the cast mess with your head at all?

It's strange. I always worry so much about quality control on the show, just in terms of continuity and making sure that stuff's true to character, so when I'm not around, I have a tough time loosening my grip. But at the same time, one of the things that we're doing a little bit differently this year is, we've had either a producer or writer on set for every episode and that has really empowered them to make a lot of unilateral decisions because that is their episode. And that's been very helpful because I spend a lot of time talking with them and it gives me a lot of confidence that when I'm not there, there's not any sort of dip in quality. Not that I'm the one who's solely capable of keeping up the quality of the show. Far from it! It's just it allows me to relax a little bit because I've had several episodes where, because I'm in prison, we'd block my stuff at the top of the episode. I'm on a stage, because it's prison, and then I've been off for like 10 days

So you're running to Palm Springs every break you get?

[Laughs] We've gone to Hawaii and spent a week in L.A.... I'm mentally preparing for the start of the sort of crossover season and also kind of our prison-centric episode.

OK, you have to be careful how you say this because spoilers and all, so let's just talk about when we come back. Oliver's in jail...

Yeah, we've been five months in prison.

And from everything you've posted on Instagram, it has not been a walk in the park for Oliver.

Well, he's been laying low. And also the name of our season finale was "Life Sentence," so he isn't focusing on getting out on good behavior, but he's passively avoiding conflict and trying to stay out of everybody's way. One of the things I talk with the writers a lot about is that Oliver can break out of prison any time he wants. We've broken into prison, we've broken out of prison, I can't count how many times during the show. [Laughs] So there has to be a reason that he's staying in there and right now, it's the fact that he's done this to keep his friends from being arrested, has the FBI and A.R.G.U.S. looking for Diaz (Kirk Acevedo), and Felicity and William are theoretically safe. But the moment that all three of those things go away, then there's no reason for him to be in there anymore, that wouldn't make sense for the character.

OK, and where is the team at this point?

Felicity is in witness protection. Oliver doesn't know where and Diggle's at A.R.G.U.S. and the rest of the team, they are still in Star City, just not putting hoods and masks on.

So the whole band has broken up.

I am assuming that this is gonna have to be, in some way, resolved before the crossover.

[Laughs] That would be a safe assumption, I think. But the one thing that I can tell you is there aren't any breakouts of prison planned, so assuming that Oliver does eventually get out, I'm very, very excited to see how he gets back into society because, again, he's out as the Green Arrow now. People know, everyone knows it. So what does that mean, how is that gonna affect him?

And before all of that, you have all your own story inside of Slabside?

I'm very pumped, I'm very pumped with the work that we've done. I've got a lot of really nice notes from staff that the show feels different, that it looks a lot different. I don't know, there's just something about what we're doing this year. And you could put your thinking cap on and come up with a hundred different ways that the first episode might end and you would never guess it.

Really? Nice.

It's fantastic. I was so pumped when I read it. I think that there's been a lot of new blood in the writer's room and, not to say that things were stale, but it's important to have that happen and I think that a lot of bold moves are being made and a lot of things are being put in the scripts that can never be undone. That's something that I feel like we did a little bit more in our earlier days and then we maybe went a little bit of the safer route in some instances and I've always said if you have a good idea, let's not save it. Another season is promised to nobody. So if you've got a good idea, let's do it.

It's almost like you had to be the safe and responsible show while you were launching all the spinoffs. Now can go back to being risky.

We have no responsibility now! We can just to go and do our own thing and it's been a lot of fun. The only thing is, we've got a lot of new team members on the set and a lot of new cast members that I just haven't had the chance to interact with yet and so it's been very strange and I always like to try and make people feel at home and feel comfortable and see if they need anything. So to have people who are now a part of the family that I've just never seen is strange.

You have so much investment in the show, have you finally decided direct an episode? It's time.

That's a great question. I do have a lot of interest in directing, but I actively do not want to direct Arrow. To that, the answer's no. I really hesitate to say never, but I'm pretty sure never.

well gamers. it's finally friday, I've survived a grueling week at work, and I won't have another free night until thursday. you know what that means.

So I've seen a couple of people doing a list of what they have been doing these quarantine times, so thought to do some of my own as well. Mostly because while I'm holding off just fine, most of my friends are going crazy and running out of things to do. I was normal until last week I got Lay Off at work and now I have extra time for everything. So here are a couple of my own suggestions and how I'm holding up.

1. Read Books. Even those you have already read, go back to it. Read that book you have been postponing.

2. Movies Marathon. Watch all those sagas, watch them in order now that there is a pause in movies. If they have series, add them too. You got suggestions? Add them below! Some ideas:

3. Clean your room. Throw away/Donate those things you don't need or use anymore. Check all those clothe if they still fit. Organize and redecorate. Change the layout. Organize drawers. If you haven't done it in a while, find out how you'd like to paint your room. Go a little bit more and go for your house.

3. Don't stop in your room, go to the kitchen, laundry room, etc.

4. Learn drawing, do some sketches, practice!

5. Watch Series. All those series in your Netflix List? Take some time to watch them. Got suggestions? Add them below!

6. Write a fanfic. Best way to spend time because your mind will keep giving you scenarios at some point.

7. Board games! Cards! Try doing a card house. Play with your family.

8. Play games online. Download apps. There is a bunch of games to play and one can test your typing skills and race against others. https://play.typeracer.com/

9. Spa Day! Treat yourself! Feel good! My resource has been Pinterest. And good thing is that you start looking for something and find somethinf else that calls your attention and its like "Oh I should check that later".

10. Play Stop with your friends either if its conference or video call. I did it through video call and it was a blast. For those of you who don't know Stop, it a game in which you do a table of several columns with the titles od Name, Last Name, thing, animal, place (country or city wise), food or fruit, color, and you may keep adding on. Do it your own! After the table, someone says "A" outloud and continues the rest of the alphabet in their mind. Someone else says stop and they have to say in which letter they were stopped at and said letter will be the one to use to fill the table.

11. Nails! I am a person that loves to try new designs and things with nails. Mix colors, find idea, try doing a theme based nail art on your favorite movie or series. If you like it? Upload it to give ideas to others! My current one is something easy for Pirates of the Caribbean. I watched the movies the other way and still got two left to get ideas. You don't need a whole nail kit. I started with toothpicks and broken pens.

12. Talk with friends. Just a quick passing by to see how they are doing.

13. GAMES! If you have a console, go ahead and play. Have fun. Meet people. Finish those levels. Start a new one. Start a new game. Do it!

14. Look for crafting ideas. You can do things with newspaper. Just with things that you have home. Youtube can help with this and just Google in general.

15. Find fun ways to do your hair! I am one that my hair is what they call "dead". If I curl it 20min after I got nothing. Find different hair styles to rock for when this is over!

16. Cook! I don't cook at all, mom either (at least not in a daily basis, more like 2 week basis), so I don't think a good outcome would work. But try it!

17. Play. With. Your. Pets! Give them love! Shower them. Train them. JUST LOVE THEM!

18. Learn a new language! I have Duolingo and it has been quite productive. I do it in a different way though. You have an unused notebook? Take it and put it to use. You know how Duolingo divides what you learn? Ex. Pronouns, past, present, basic, etc.? Divide your notebook like that. Write the word, write the translation in your language (or another language if you want to spice things up), and write how you hear it/would pronounce it. Go up the highest level in each or try to do them in the same level a.k.a. Pronouns level 3, Nouns level 3, etc.

19. Learn something new! So the University of Harvard has a page where they have small courses of different topics. Best of all? IT IS FREE! Take one and learn! 20. Plan your next or first trip! I have one planned for London, Paris, Spain for November this year. I still have my hopes up cause I have planned this so well. I don't want to give it up, I'm in denial. So what I do is check the places to go. It doesn't have to be for this year, but plan it out! Check places to visit and plan your budget! I might open a blog for trips (honestly a little bit of everything) so I'll keep you updated but if you have any questions on planning, hit me up! I do it in a way that even mom's friends trust me to plan everything for them.

21. Call your relatives! At least those you get along with. Make sure they are alright. Even if you haven't called them in a while I'm sure they will love to hear you are doing okay!

22. From the newspapers take out the Sudokus, Crosswords, Word Finders, have fun!

23. Write your future goals! Reflect on them!

24. Exercise! But do it in a fun way! Walk the dog. Go to Youtube and check those Dance Central, Just Dance exercise routines with your favorite songs!

25. Plan your next plans! What upcoming events you want to go to when this is over? Write them in the calendar and check information and follow up!

26. Read Comics online! There a few sites that have them free, the old ones and some of the new. Look them up!

27. Learn new games!

28. Sleep!

29. You miss sports? Rewatch your favorite matches.

30. Funny videos on Youtube! I found with my manager Shark Puppet and we couldn't stop laughing so find funny videos to watch by yourself or with friends, family and coworkers!
