My favorite things from episode 5.01 …in no particular order:

- that first 126 firehouse scene single-handedly cured my depression. TK refereeing the chaos with his little whistle around his neck. “the big tortoise” “not sure how I feel about the big tortoise” 🐢 💀 “no spitting” *here’s lookin at you marj* Mateo forgetting to hit stop cause it was just too exciting!!

- tommy bringing strand men to grief therapy like she gets referral credit. when is it Carlos’ turn?

- detective paul AGAIN on scene with the bullet hole solution. thank you and good night my man is baaack.

- paul’s “showboat” comment then smash cut to paul being a showboat. Iconic editing. lone star is a comedy.

- Judd in his readers. 😍

- I appreciate how they wrote grace out. They could’ve been lazy and killed her off and claimed it was for drama and emotion. But they chose a way that not only honored the character but is also something that feels like sierra would respect given her personal values.

- Wyatt and Carlos meeting was such a small moment but so sweet. “You’re TK’s husband, right?” “He was one of the paramedics who saved my life.” the tarlos fan club is constantly growing

- LOU TWO! keeping TK company! being fed peppers like the king that he is!

I know we talk about Izzy antis all the time, but let's talk about regular fans of the show who're indifferent to Izzy, or maybe enjoy him just a little in a "he makes for a good antagonist" way but nothing more, or dislike him in a normal way - as in, he's just not their cup of tea and that's ok - but don't go out of their way to harass those who feel differently.

Let's talk about those OFMD fans because many of them are gonna fall into the Izzy Canyon so hard this season. And I'm so excited and happy for them. Nothing compares to that feeling of "wtf how did this show managed to turn this character into my favourite character??" Let's make them feel welcome. Let's remember that it's ok to dislike a character or feel indifferent towards them, and then start liking them as they grow and change. That's the entire point of character development, after all. I hope other Izzy Enjoyers aren't too jaded from dealing with Izzy antis to accept some (or, hopefully, a lot) of fans changing their mind about him. I know we're gonna see a ton of posts along the lines of "you only liked him after be became better, I liked him when he was at his worst, we are not the same", and tbh I'm very much in for it, but only tongue in cheek. I really hope our little corner of the fandom is going to be mature enough not to stoop down to petty gatekeeping. We're better than this.

Sometimes when I'm scrolling the main danmei tags I see posts that are like "Man sometimes I find someone who looks nice and then I see them reblog (something completely innocuous and harmless*) and then I'm like 'oh they're toxic' and I block them" and I'm like. OP there is only one toxic person here and I know exactly who I'm blocking.

(And like, to be clear...it's not OP blocking someone who posts something they don't like that's weird here. It's that OP felt the need to post about it, AND tag it into the main tags, AND clearly think that they've Said Something here and it's like. Wow. You're, uh. You're a delight.)

All of this,except post-reveal Eric isn't any less of a nerd. He's the ultimate "theather/band kid who decided a STEM career was a better choice because money",considering what we saw from him,lol.
