19 Reasons (Tim Drake x Reader)
It’s Tim’s birthday in my timezone, so I’m writing my first ever DC Comic post- yes- fiNALLY-
Summary: You said you wished your turning 19 year old Tim “Happy Womb Escape” by presenting a slideshow titled “19 reasons why I love Tim Drake.”
☘️☘️☘️☘️☘️
“Guess what day it is?”
“19 July?” He didn’t even bat an eye, busy typing away on his computer without a care in the world.
“Seriously? Okay stop working,” you closed his laptop and shove it away to a corner, “you literally forget it’s your birthday today?”
He looks at you nonchalantly before crossing his arms with an eyebrow raised. “Well, it’s not that important?”
You gasped in horror, dramatically rolling up to his chest with your hand pressed to your forehead and the other clutching your heart. “ ‘Not important’? My own boyfriend saying his birthday is ‘not important’? Non!”
He rolled his eyes, playfully and lightly shoving you away as he smirked. You grinned.
“I’m going to show you why it’s important with this slideshow!” You placed your own laptop on his lap, the monitor flashing a slideshow titled “19 Reasons Why I Love Tim Drake”.
“Oh god. This is gonna be fun,” he joked.
“Before that, I would just like to say,” you started, clicking to the next slide, “ ‘Happy Womb Escape’ to you, Drake.”
“Wait wha-”
“Now first reason!” You clicked to the next slide, cutting your baffled vigilante as you cleared your throat to perform your lines.
“Number one! He’s Red Robin, Gotham’s best vigilante out there! Ain’t I ever seen another like him!”
“There’s Bruce, Dick, Jason, Cass, Steph, Lu-”
“STOP- THERE IS NO ONE LIKE YOU!” You groaned in frustration, making Tim chuckle. “Yeah but I’m basically just like them.”
“I ain’t see someone who single-handedly took down the Joker? Obeah Man? Got rid of the booty shorts of Robin? That’s a crime, by the way.” You said it in a “matter-of-fact” way. He snorted.
“Secondly! He’s the most hardworking man I know! But also he needs rest so take notes. Third! He’s the biggest, dorkiest dork on earth who loves machines, science, and he googles the most random things on the internet just to give me a fun fact later on out of the blue!”
“Fourth! His hair is fluffy as hell and it makes him very nice to pat on the head! Fifth! He’s a nerd! And that’s cute! Sixth, Tim is the smartest man I’ve ever met. I bet he could find the last digit of Pi in like 2 seconds in his brain. Seventh!”
Tim smiled warmly, soon becoming smug the more you went on with your points. He looked so proud.
“Seventh, is that he’s a bisexual icon! Enough said. Eighth! He lends me his sweaters and they all smell like him which is the nice part.”
“You stole them, you mean?”
“Shhhh, let the presenter speak. Anyways, ninth! Timmy bringing me to a burger joint on our first date and he didn’t judge me for it. I’ll tell you something I didn’t until now: I was pretty scared you judged me but you didn’t. So thank god.”
“I always judge you, Y/N, it’s alright,” Tim smirked. You looked at him with a frown, not amused. “Yeah, okay never mind, I should take this slide down.”
“Hey!” He said, grinning as wide as you were. “Next! Tenth! He watches over me even when he’s on patrol to make sure I’m safe!”
“You… know? I thought I was pretty well hidden…” he blinked in surprise.
“Tim, you may be a detective and that’s exactly the point. It doesn’t take some of your skills to rub off of me,” again, you said it as a matter-of-fact.
“Eleventh! He’s a skater boy, and he’s my ‘Skater Boi’,” Tim once again snorted, much louder upon understanding that pop culture reference.
“Twelfth, he loves watching old, 80s to 90s cheesy movies and geeks out about them all the time while we’re watching! Don’t ever shut up, by the way. Thirteenth! He always fidgets with his fingers and hands when he’s bored subconsciously! That in itself is adorable.”
“Fourteenth! He’s a terrible cook, but he still tries anyways. It’s also adorable~” He rolled his eyes, folding his arms.
“Wow, I feel so loved.”
“Yesh, and I love you very much as well, Timothy Jackson Drake Wayne,” you teased. He scoffed lightly. “Yeah, yeah.”
“Fifteenth! He is the best cross-dresser. That is all. Sixteenth! HE IS THE WORLD’S GREATEST DETECTIVE! Like he found Waldo every 2 seconds, finished 5 books of him in 1 minute,” you said, doing an amateur explosion side effect by saying “kaploosh” with your hands doing the mind-blown action.
“Again, Bruce and everyone else in my family.”
“Again, there is no one like you, Detective Tim. Seventeenth! Best photographer! Also enough said! Love everything you take, sweetie! Eighteenth! He makes using a metal stick look badass!”
“And lastly! Nineteenth! Drum roll please!” You use your knuckles to lightly drum against the wooden floors. “He’s Tim Drake! What’s not to love?” You smiled. It was so contagious that he found himself smiling as stupid and gleefully as you did.
He had always been insecure of his abilities and himself in general, so he was so flustered and gooey on the inside with how genuine you were with each point. Although, his flustered-ness was showing with pink blooming on his cheeks.
“Okay, guess I understand why my birthday’s important now.”
“Glad you understood my report, Mr Drake!” You smiled at him.
“So now I shall say,” you drum-rolled again, quickly tossing your arms around him and lightly pecked his cheek with a grin.
“I love you, Timothy Jackson Drake Wayne.”
He smiled at you lovingly, cupping your cheek as he gently brushed his thumb against it. “And I love you, too, YF/N L/N. Thanks for your birthday gift.”
You laughed sweetly. “The gift is you, technically~”

I’ve been reading the Wonder Woman, George Pérez Omnibus and it’s really good but reading it made me a little sad because Wonder Woman has so many good characters. She’s got her own supporting cast, amazing villains, and great storyline’s, and they are never used in anything.
Like, I don’t wanna be that DC fan that compares Wonder Woman to Batman and Superman too much, but… She has her own Lois Lane, Jimmy Olsen, her own Lex Luthor, her own Joker. In multiple Batman stories and adaptations, Barbara is paralysed, Jason is killed, Batman’s back is broken. In multiple Superman adaptations, he’s defeated by Doomsday and replaced by Superman clones, and fails to save his father. In a lot of adaptations, these storyline’s are mentioned or seen, and are very well known… we’ll Wonder Woman also has these, yet they never show up in anything, because she never gets to do anything.
Yes, Cheetah, Circe and Ares will show up in Wonder Woman related media, but typically only as the obligatory “Wonder Woman villain” whilst Joker and Lex steal the limelight. Steve Trevor has shown up multiple times in Wonder Woman media, as her main love interest, but is either not fleshed out, or is ignored and usually dead by the end of it.
Imagine a Batman movie, show, game or whatever, and in this hypothetical media, Alfred is never mentioned, nor is any of the Batfamily. Joker and Bane are in it, but they’re basically glorified cameos, and Selina Kyle makes an appearance as his love interest but dies at the end. That’s the reality Wonder Woman is living in 90% of the time.
I think it doesn’t help that most casual DC fans knowledge of Wonder Woman lore is through the DCAU Justice League show. As much as I love that show, she’s not a very good adaptation IMO. She hardly interacts with Cheetah, Circe is a joke villain and Ares shows up once… dear god. As I said earlier, Cheetah is like the obligatory Wonder Woman villain. If the JL is fighting a group of villains, usually Cheetah is just thrown in there because it would be unfair to have 5 Superman villains and 6 Batman villains with no Wonder Woman villains. Because of this though, she never gets to do anything really, and whilst yes, she and Diana do interact, their interaction boils down to a short animated fight, and maybe one or two fleeting mentions of them being past friends/nemesis’. The worst offender is the JL episode focused on Wonder Woman and Themyscira, “Fury.” It’s an episode about a rogue Amazon, spreading a virus that aims to wipe out all men and let women dominate the Earth. Not only is this Amazon an OC and not an actual Wonder Woman villain, but the main hero is Hawkgirl for some reason, and the whole episode kinda leaves a bad taste in my mouth because of how disjointed the message is. It’s trying to say “Women need men, as much as men need women” but ironically the entire episode just shows men being incompetent and women solving everything so that’s odd.
My point is, it feels like so much effort is put into DC media to incorporate as much elements of Batman and Superman’s supporting cast, villains and worldbuilding, yet even if Wonder Woman is a main character as well, she won’t get that same luxury, and the most she’ll get is them throwing in Steve Trevor and Cheetah out of obligation, whilst Superman and Batman get to bring their entire roster.

I haven’t read the actual JL x RWBY comics, but I just recently watched the movies. So let me know if the comics are any different, but is it just me or did the movies nerf the shit outta the justice league just to make RWBY characters seem cooler 💀 Like I understand that in the first movie the JL was aged down to teenagers and had unfamiliar powers so of course they wouldn’t be there best, but why was Bruce sooo ooc. And in the second movie, your telling me Bruce just immediately gets benchmarked because of poison? From a sting that he’d most likely be able to dodge with his hands tied? And not to mention that Barry is constantly stressed by being possessed from the first movie, when the justice league has probably been through so much other shit that something like that probably felt like a regular Monday. And the use of villains as allies in the second movie was cute, but they were acting like the Justice League doesn’t have a shit ton of other heroes they could call for help. When they hinted at needing allies I was expecting like at least Aquaman or Green Arrow but instead they used villains??? And I’m going to ignore the Harley x Joker sneak even though this movie was made in like 2023 and they had no reason to not put Harley and Ivy. To me, it just felt like the writers of this movie had never actually picked up a comic. Maybe I’m over exaggerating a bit, but as a DC fan and someone who cherishes characters strengths and power scaling, I really disliked these movies. I’m not expecting every writer that wants to have some sort of DC crossover with their characters to read a crap ton of comics, but at the very least you can try to educate yourself on characters that are cherished by their writers and fans.
Anyways I usually don’t like sharing my petty opinions such as these on social media unless it’s a joke, but I’ve seen so many RWBY fans hype up these movies and no DC fans pointing out this issue and I just felt like I wanted this perspective of the movie to be heard. This is in no way criticizing fans of that movie, and there actually are some parts of it that I enjoyed. But, please remember that I’m just a random stranger on the internet voicing their opinion, if you disagree with me then I’d love to have a conversation and hear your perspective! 🫶/gen

Prompt: Jason's Villain Era
Tim watches the Batcomputer screen, every sense on high alert for any sign of danger. According to the hacked Amusement Mile cameras, the place is swarming with goons, though, so Batman, Nightwing, and Batgirl have their work cut out for them.
Jason, with his sprained wrist, is also relegated to backup duty in the Cave. He’s leaning against the console, a mug of tea in his good hand.
Who would’ve thought after the Titans Tower incident a year ago, they would ever make it here?
It took a solid month of Jason training to overcome the pit rage, spitting insults at Bruce and throwing furniture the whole time. But Bruce never gave up, no matter what Jason hurled at him. He modeled meditation strategies while Jason’s howled in fury, and he brought him food and pillows when the rage kept Jason from eating or sleeping.
Now, Jason swings by the Manor a couple times a week to hang out, pilfer first editions from the library, and spar with Dick.
He even has his own armchair and blanket set aside for Friday movie nights at the Manor. Jason fell asleep during The Hunger Games last week, and Dick got a great picture of him drooling on his shirt that he keeps threatening to blow up and frame every time Jason annoys him.
“Hey,” Tim says, his fingers drumming a nonsense rhythm against his leg. “D’you think you could look over my Gatsby essay? I’ve missed a bunch of classes because of,” he gestures to the Cave, “and I need to get at least a B or I’m going to fail.”
Jason’s gaze flicks to him, and Tim has to remind himself not to squirm. He raises his mug to his lips. “I’ll think about it.”
“Thank you,” Tim says gratefully. “Bruce said you used to be good at English, before – well, before.”
Jason just hums, and Tim turns back to the screen that shows Batman and the Joker in an epic fight. He toggles between ten different cameras, searching for an update on Nightwing.
Pain explodes in his right temple.
Tim tumbles out of the Batcomputer chair with the force of the blow. “What the –”
“On second thought,” Jason says, twirling the handle of his now shattered mug on one finger, “I don’t think I’ll be helping you with your English homework, kid.” He slides a glock from the back of his belt, and the sound of the safety flicking off might as well be as loud as a gunshot in the nearly-silent Batcave.
“Jason –” Tim has no more words. Shards of porcelain bite into his palms as he scrambles back on his hands and feet, but he can’t look away from Jason’s face, cast in shadow, backlit by the Batcomputer screen. What are you doing?”
Jason fires. Over Tim's yells of agony, he drawls, “Huh. Aren’t you supposed to be the smart one?”
Tim’s leg throbs as he staggers to his feet, his whole body shaking with more than just pain.
Jason was better. The pit rage was gone. Tim was supposed to be safe.
This is all a misunderstanding.
“Jason,” Tim pleads, still backing up, but he’s never going to get out of firing range in time, “this isn’t you.”
“Pretty sure this is me, kid,” Jason says casually as he stalks forward, and Tim has never seen that dead, cold expression on his face before. With the pit rage, Jason burned hot. Never cold. “In fact, I feel more like myself in months.”
Tim swallows. Jason is blocking his way back to the manor. The Batcave exit is at least fifty yards away, beyond the training mats and empty Batmobile garage area. “It’s me,” he tries instead, “Tim!”
“Now, nobody ever called me the smart one,” Jason says as he aims his gun again, “But I got enough little gray cells left to know your name, Pretender. Cuckoo.” His eyes flash. “Replacement.”
Tim’s stomach sinks. Alright, time to fight his way out, since persuasion clearly isn’t working. He readies his stance and nearly topples over again as the bullet hole in his thigh sears with pain.
“Do you know how fucking long I had to wait to get you alone?” Jason continues, looking almost amused at Tim’s attempts to recover. “Three months. A quarter of a goddamn year playing nice, playing house with Bruce and Dick. You should be flattered I went through all the effort just for you. Fuck it,” he strides forward, dodges Tim’s off-balance right hook, and smashes his fist against Tim’s temple, right where the mug hit him first.
Tim staggers, dazed. Tears spring to his eyes, and he can barely keep Jason in sight.
“So much more satisfying,” Jason says smugly. He sweeps Tim’s legs out from under him, and Tim once again falls painfully to the floor.
Jason stands over him, his expression inscrutable. “You put up even less of a fight than last time. Disappointing.” He aims his gun at Tim’s left shoulder and fires. From the white-hot fire licking up his neck, the bullet shattered his collar bone.
Tim blinks woozily up at Jason.
Wow, Dick’s gonna have to enlarge that stupid picture of Jason drooling and project it off the side of the Clocktower at this rate.
Tim passes out.

Oh dear I’ve seen some production stills of the Crow remake. Ho boy.
Look I am not so arrogant as to think that if something is unappealing to me personally, that must mean it’s objectively bad. No, no. I understand when things aren’t for me.
I also firmly disagree that remakes and adaptations need to very closely copy some original source in order to be good. No, no. I have never believed that.
But yeeesh. Yeeesh. I have such a visceral reaction. Someone said it’s giving Jared Leto Joker vibes and I can’t stop laughing. Look I dunno. The Crow to me is so specifically goth, so specially late 90s. When you have a story that’s so strongly tied to a specific thing, I don’t think you necessarily can NEVER do anything different with it, but if you want to change it you need to understand why you want to change it and you need to be smart about how.
Like I dunno. Right now things feel so dark and hopeless sometimes, society feels so fucked, I think I actually could really really go for a story that’s all about having the power to punish bad people, and love and grief that is so strong you can’t even rest after you die, I would possibly be really really down for a fresh take on this.
But phew this does not look like the fresh take I want. No.
OK RANDOM ADDITION: I just saw someone say this makes them worry about the new Nosferatu. Guys please take two seconds to do research, don’t just get mad at things you see on social media. The new nosferatu has Robert Eggertson directing, who made The Witch and The Lighthouse and I have high, high hopes for it. I think he could legit make it amazing.
MORE ADDITIONS: oh fuck me, I just double checked, it is currently still going forward (has had some issues getting started) but appears to have Wilhem Dafoe signed up to play Nosferatu, which will be his SECOND time playing Nosferatu, omg guys now THAT is going to be an amazing movie to watch.

I don’t want it to happen but what if Evan was cast as The Joker?!! I don’t want him to be The Joker but I think he’d be perfect for it. We all know that it will take a HUGE toll on him mentally and also probably physically. I’m not sure what it is… I was watching The Dark Knight where Heath Ledger played the Joker and I sort of thought of Evan. But I don’t want to see what happened to Heath Ledger happen to Evan. It was all very sad, the poor guy couldn’t shake the character away and he ended up taking loads of sleeping pills, well he was doing sleeping pills before The Joker. And the role obviously took a toll on Heath. He was consumed, and even Jack Nicholson (the Tim Burton Batman movie) he played the Joker and he advised Heath not to do the role. He was originally offered to play The Batman, and I feel like if he did that instead, and not the Joker, maybe he’d still be alive??! That’s why for the second Batman movie he wanted to play Joker, he took on the role. He would keep this diary and would write some disturbing things and jokes, I don’t know he had this process to get into the mind of the Joker. So yeah, I feel like Evan could definitely be the new Joker, but I am hoping he’ll never take on that role. We need our Evan to stay away from anything that could mess with his psyche. And Rest in Peace to the amazing Heath Ledger, honestly one of the best Jokers I’ve ever seen.
i’ve never seen any of these movies, but i agree that given the past history of that role taking such a mental toll on folks, i wouldn’t want evan to do it. lord, he needs something light and fluffy 😭 something that isn’t such an emotional burden.
RIP heath ledger!

WIP Mass Effect
Haven't done one of these in a while so I'm starting off the new year with an excerpt from my Mass Effect project. Have a bit from one of Joker's movie's nights on the SR-1 set during ME1.
~ ~ ~
“Have you seen this one?” Reese whispered as she leaned over, her shoulder bumping Alenko’s.
Kaidan shook his head. “Nope. Not this one. I’ve heard of it but never seen it. I think I might have seen the remake with my mom but I’m not sure.”
He glanced down. Even sitting, he was a couple of inches taller than her. Leaning down he said, “You could always look it up like you normally do when you have no idea what’s going on.”
Grey eyes glanced up at him. “I’m trying something new this time.”
“By not looking it up on the extranet?” he asked with a grin.
“You seem to get annoyed when I do that, so I thought I’d just go in blind,” she said reluctantly.
“How’s that working out for you?” he asked with amusement in his voice and making no effort to hide his grin.
Reese glared at him as she crossed her arms and sat up straight. Taking her refusal to speak as her answer, the Sentinel went back to watching the latest movie Joker had picked out. It was ‘The Blob’ starring Steven McQueen and Aneta Corsaut. He guessed it was supposed to be a horror flick aimed at teenagers, but he had been truthful when he told Reese he’d never seen this one. One from the 1980s seemed more familiar but even then, he wasn’t totally for sure. He’d have to ask his mom the next time he called home.
“What is the creature’s purpose?” Liara asked from the front row. Joker had insisted she sit next to him for a lesson in human entertainment. Kaidan wasn’t sure if it was so she would stop asking questions in the middle of the movies or because he really did think she needed a tutor in the area. Honestly he wouldn’t have put past the pilot to be both reasons.
“It’s the blob, Liara,” the Flight Lt. said as he motioned to the gelatinous mass moving across the screen looking for its next victim. “It’s only purpose is to eat people and get bigger.”
“But why?” she asked.
“Because it’s a horror movie,” Joker explained in a very patient tone considering it was interrupting his viewing of the movie he’d picked out. “It’s meant to scare the audience. It isn’t supposed to make perfect sense. It’s supposed to scare you.”
“It’s like those stories your parents tell you as a child to get you to not do something,” Garrus tried as he sat next to the archaeologist. “You know. The ones that involve something bad happening, like a monster eating you or something if you do whatever the naughty thing is you’re not supposed to do.”
“I suppose…” she said thoughtfully. “My studies have shown that many cultures pass down myths and legends that are similar to what you speak of.”
“Right,” Joker added as he pointed at the large screen again. “It’s like that with humans too. We use movies for that. Or they did a lot back in the day.”
“Quarians tell stories of the Geth in such a manner,” Tali chimed in. “I find it hard to believe the Asari don’t have something similar in your culture.”
“We do. But we are brought up to know they are not real. That it is simply a story,” Liara said. “We do not enjoy being scared with myths. History has provided enough real things to be scared of.”
“Like the Reapers,” Shepard noted from the row behind them.
Liara nodded. “Though, most people do not believe in them. They find it much more…comfortable to believe the Protheans are the oldest beings to exist.”
Ashley sat beside the Commander as she leaned back in her chair. “Are we gonna watch this or debate it’s historical value?”
“I am sorry,” Liara sputtered. “Joker offered to help be understand. I did not mean to interrupt—”
“It’s fine, Liara,” the N7 said as he jabbed the Gunnery Chief in the arm. “The movie is a little weird even for Joker.”
Kaidan had watched the exchange in silence as Reese tilted her head. He could almost hear the wheels spinning in her head as she tried to figure out something that really wasn’t meant to make scientific sense in a 1950s horror movie. Wondering how long it would take her to flip open her omni-tool and look up whatever it was, he was surprised when she perked up and whispered almost to herself, “Phagocytosis.”
“What?” he asked in confusion.
“Phagocytosis,” she repeated as she looked up at him. “It’s the answer to Dr. T’Soni’s question.”
“Ummm, okay,” he replied uncertainly. “I thought Joker and the others answered it.”
“No—Well, yes in a way but there is a scientific explanation,” she replied.
“Everything good back there, Reese?” the Specter asked as he turned to glance at the two Lt.’s.
“Ah, yes, sir. I just remembered something that would actually explain the blob’s behavior in an actual scientific way,” she said.
“Wanna share with the class?” her CO asked as Joker paused the movie.
“Really? You wanna nerd out on a B movie?” the pilot asked in annoyance.
“You better let her, Joker, or she’ll start reading everything the extranet has to offer during the rest of the movie,” Alenko suggested as the L3 bumped him with her shoulder.
“Fiiiinnneeee,” the bearded pilot said as Liara turned around patiently waiting for the answer.
Reese glanced up at Kaidan who only grinned and motioned for her to begin. She made a face at him and then started, “Phagocytosis is basically a process a cell uses its plasma membrane to engulf a particle of something. It’s like when it engulfs a pathogen. It’s a type of endocytosis. It’s a biological process in multicellular organisms that helps remove pathogens and cell debris—bacteria, dead tissue cells, and the like. Some protozoa even use it to obtain their nutrients.”
“Oh, well, that actually makes sense,” the Asari doctor mused as she turned back around. “Thank you, Lt. Reese.”
“No problem,” the ops officer said as she leaned back in her chair again.
“Can I start the movie again?” Joker asked impatiently.
“Go ahead,” Shepard said as the rest of the crew returned their attention to the movie.
After a few minutes, Kaidan leaned down and asked, “How’d you know all that?”
She shrugged. “I’m good with science facts.”
“Kori,” he said hoping to let her know he really wanted to know.
She sighed. “My grandfather was a biologist. I was around a lot of his work after he retired and started consulting and volunteering. He helped develop a lot of treatments for very specific conditions before he passed away.”
“Oh, I—I didn’t know,” Kaidan said, feeling bad for pushing. “I’m sorry. I—”
She shook her head. “Don’t be sorry. He was a good man that did a lot for a lot of people. It’s been a while anyway, but I know he’s always with me. Watching out for me. So, it’s all good.”
Alenko was quiet for a moment and then said attempting to lighten the mood, “I bet he never thought you’d use what you learned from him to explain the motivation of a monster from a B movie to an Asari.”
“Nope,” Reese said with a grin. “I don’t think he ever would have.”

I re watched Avatar The last Airbender today, yes the much maligned movie and tbh I still kind of like it. I know and understand that it does not meet the very high standards that ATLA fans of the original animated series have, it’s bitty, disjointed and rather all over the place, but I still like the performances given by some of the young cast. Ok I can hear the tufts of hair being pulled out at the roots by the fans as I’m typing this, but young actors generally are guided and steered by the director. They generally don’t feel they have the right to challenge directors or script writers, in this case the same person when they think something is dumb, they just try and meet the expectations of their elders.
The young boy who plays Aang, Noah Ringer.. he’s was and still is an amazing athlete, but he seemed to get allot of unwarranted flack for just not being, well ethnic enough and that he was too serious, even wooden. I think if we look carefully at the narrative from even the animated series and examine the things he’s gone through, i think he would be pretty serious, confused, distraught and angry. In this respect I think Noah does this really well.
Tumblr media
So what’s happened to the wee laddie then?
You run away when you’re told your the Avatar and that you are responsible for keeping balance in the world, between the four nations. Hmm Not much pressure there for a 12 year old.
When you wake up you find out you’ve been asleep for a 100 years and then get captured by the Fire Nation.
You next found out that your entire nation has been wiped from the face of the earth, just because you feel you didn’t want the responsibility and that you could never have a family.
Tumblr media
Yeah… he’s not really going to be in a great head space, Guilt, Depression, Anxiety, PTSD, along with Shame, Anger and fear would be coursing through this young boys body and mind.
But as the Joker would say “why so serious?”
I also thought Dev Patel was very good in his role, as Zuko, he showed the anarchic, panicked son under pressure to find the Avatar for the Fire Nation to regain his honour.
Yes he had some really bad dialogue.. but again he didn’t write the script…
I thought the CG Effects were pretty good, I’m not so sure about the choreographed bending moves tbh in some of the scenes, especially with the Earth Benders, but all in all I thought it was ok.
M.Night Shyamalan needs to wear the way this was received, he was really taking on a poison chalice and was never going to be able to meet the expectations of the Fan base.
In the end he seemed to disappear into his own world and tried to make something that was beautiful to look at,but lacked the depth of story and also lost a lot of the charm that the series possessed.
Tumblr media
I said I enjoyed the film, perhaps because I can fill in the blanks a bit because I’ve watched the animated series and can fill in the blanks myself.. or gaps.. well cazems in some cases.
One thing I will say is we can’t blame the cast, especially the young actors for not matching the expectations of the fans or the characters in the animated series, for their lack of ethnicity or the emotional tack that the live action film tried to take. We should remember that side of the animated series is pretty surface deep at best, with a lot of tragedy just laughed off, or immediately forgotten.
The Last Airbender’s narrative deals with a lot of very serious issues, that placed within the human world ie live action would be seen as tragic, testing and difficult… Genocide, being the chosen one…(Sorry Starwars, Harry Potter and of course the Bible) Personal loss and huge unfathononable responsibilities. The New Netflix series will need to address these as well, although they will hopefully have allot more time to dig into these characters during the series, to provide them with depth and personality, that was lacking from the film,
After all if we don’t care about the characters in any book, film, tv or animated series, you won’t become emotionally invested in them. We need to care about what happens to them, why they behave the way they do, what decisions they make, who their friends and indeed enemy’s are..what happens next?
I guess this is why so many people were disappointed with the film, because they were exactly that with the animated series.. if you love something that much, you will always feel some sort of disappointment when you compare it to any other version of the same thing.

I’m sobbing omgggggggggg
That’s his boy
Tumblr media
I’m literally… my heart hurts from joy 😭😫
What gets me is like even in Canon, actual canon, Jason’s death literally almost killed Bruce, mentally, emotionally and physically. The agony Bruce felt after Jason died was indescribable. He was literally on a self sabotaging, self destructive mission to punish himself, his grieving was so intense and so destroying that he even sadly took it out on Dick.
The sad thing is that Jason doesn’t even know the lengths Bruce went to kill Joker. He didn’t do it cuz of his moral code, the moment Bruce realized Joker was the one that killed his boy he made it his mission to kill him, he was out for blood, the only reasons why he didn’t was cuz Clark forced him not too and cuz Joker became the UN ambassador and got diplomatic immunity so it’s not that he didn’t want to kill Joker, he literally couldn’t.
After that, Bruce just continued on his self destructive path until Tim came along and said “make me Robin.”
One of the makers of Under The Red Hood movie said that Jason’s death was the worst loss Bruce has had since the death of his parents and he’s 100000% right. Jason’s death broke Bruce and he hasn’t been the same since. Jason was the first, the first child he lost, the first pain of a parent having to bury their child and it only further shattered Bruce’s psyche.
It’s something he’ll never let go of, as seen in Batman Urban Legends where the moment Jason is in trouble, he keeps flashing back to the day he lost Jason as he’s driving the Batmobile.
“Jason. I’m on my way. You’re Alive. In the Here. In the Now. I know this. Like Magic with a curse— You’re Alive. I don’t need to be here again. In the Past. I’ve learned my lesson. The guilt doesn’t help me. It doesn’t have a hold on me anymore. You’re alive, Jason. And I intend to keep it that way.”
Bruce but when Jason comes back he's just completly overjoyed.
Because by some miracle his son is back.
Like yeah we have ideological differences but my son who was brutally taken from me.
Who's death haunts me, is alive.
Bruce does the DNA test finds it's a match and is just like, is he okay? Is he hurt?
Does he have somewhere to stay? Is it safe?
Finds Red Hood and Jason's expecting harsh words, anger, even pity.
And instead Batman, Batman this beacon of strength and unshakeableness.
... Is crying.
"It's you, isn't it....Jaylad please. Please tell me that's you under there."
Pleading.
Jason takes the helmet off and Bruce falls to his knees as the weight of it all hits him.
That's his boy.
He might look different now but that's his boy.
Bruce would recognise him anywhere.
He's talking, talking about how he's not mad he could never be mad at him.
That Jason doesn't have to explain, he doesn't have to come back if he doesn't want to.
That he doesn't need to explain.
That if he ever does Bruce is here, that he's here and he will always be here.
That the manor is still his home, nothing changes that.
Even kept your old stuff, all of your books are right where you left them.
He swears up and down that he tried to kill the Joker but he failed.
Thst he chased him to the ends of the earth because he took you from me.
And apologises, over and over that he failed Jason, and he's so so sorry and knows that doesn't fix things.
And he gets if Jason never wants to see him again.
And it's none of the gruff stoic Dark Knight, it's the choked up rambling of a dad.
Jason's dad.
And after what feels like hours but was only just a few shocked seconds, Jason drops his helmet and runs into Bruce's arms.
Bruce hugs him like if he let's go he will lose him again.
They have so much to talk about but none of that matters now.
Not when he's holding the missing part of his heart in his arms.

XDINARY HEROES Boyfriend Headcanons part 1
Tumblr media
XDINARY HEROES x reader, Boyfriend headcanons (not poly)
I only did half of the members because these are the ones I know the best so far, but I will do the other three eventually when I know them better. The other part will be found in a separate post but I will put a link here once I have finished writing that one.
Part 2
Thank you for the request! I hope you like it!  This might be a bit inaccurate as I don’t know the members too well yet but from what I’ve gathered here’s what I think:
Tumblr media
GUNIL
Kisses
Gunil seems to be a person who’s very open and passionate. Because of this I believe that kisses with him are going to be a bit on the slower side, but they will be very passionate and full of feelings. Gunil won’t give you just a quick peck on the lips because he wants every kiss to be special and for them to really show your feelings for each other. So, I definitely see his shortest kisses to be at least 30 seconds long. Cause how is he supposed to pour all his love into a peck that lasts like 2 seconds? Impossible, he would say.
PDA/skinship
As I said on the previous point, Gunil appears to be quite open and extroverted. His MBTI being ENFJ (same as me, hehe) definitely proves his extroverted side and because of this I see him being quite daring with skinship/PDA. I don’t see him shying away or holding back from kissing, hugging or simply just holding hands. Nope. I see him doing one of the movie dramatic runs to your partner and enveloping them in a hug and then a kiss kinda thing.  But different from the movies where this usually happens when the main characters haven’t seen each other in a long time, he’ll do it every time he sees you, doesn’t matter if he saw you 5 minutes ago, he needs to show his love in every way he can. So if you don’t like skinship, find another guy. Cause I really see him as someone whose love language is touch so he will want to be glued to you all the time. If you wanna make him really, really happy, then sneak up on him and give him a back hug while snuggling your face into his back. He’ll be super happy and he might even propose on the spot because no one else can make him as happy as you.
How the relationship would be
If you haven’t understood by now, I’ll repeat it again. This relationship would be full of kisses, hugs, kisses, skinship, “I love you”s, oh and did I mention kisses? Gunil won’t let you go an hour without a kiss and an ‘I love you’. He would be devastated if one of you ended up catching a cold or something worse and he wouldn’t be allowed to kiss you. I also see him talking to the other members about you all the time, so often that even before the others even met you they felt like they knew everything. Poor Jun Han, Gunil’s roommate. Jun Han would never be free of hearing Gunil talking about you, talking to you and Jun Han even feels offended sometimes when Gunil asks if he can sleep on the couch or in one of the other rooms as you’re coming over and Gunil wants to have a sleepover with you. Jun Han is nice though and would leave the room, but only after having his leader promise to do the same when Jun Han brings over his s/o. I don’t really see any fights happening in this relationship because even if all relationships have fights I see Gunil as a person who can stay level headed and calm throughout an argument or even as a person who can foresee a conflict and before it comes to a certain point where all hell breaks loose he would have solved it already. I see him as someone who is great at handling conflicts and just having the answer to how to solve it. And even if an actual argument was to happen I definitely don’t see him as a person who would scream, throw things or say anything hurtful. However, if someone were to insult you, the love of his life, then he’ll become the devil and make sure that the other person knows to never even think something mean about you ever again. Overall, he’s just a fluffy guy.
Tumblr media
GAON
Kisses
Gaon gives me joker, bad boy but also sugar sweet vibes so based on that his kisses will vary a lot depending on what mood he is in. If he’s in a joker kind of mood then his kisses will be teasing, he might start to lean in and come super close and right as you think he’ll kiss you he’ll boop your nose and laugh at you while backing away again. This he can do for hours without a problem and he won’t give you an actual kiss unless he goes into another mood or you pout, do some aegyo and say that you love him. Then he will give you a kiss. If he’s in a, what I call, bad boy mood(don’t know how to really explain it so just go with it) then he will still be a little teasing but he will be very touchy, he will suddenly grab your hand and pull you towards him, give you a smirk while saying some cheesy line like - “you looks so cute baby”, and then lean in to give you a slightly rough kiss that quickly becomes a make out session, usually he will also find closest wall, table, counter, whatever to put your back against. If he’s in his sweet mood then you can expect soft, loving, short or long kisses that make your knees weak not because it’s hot or rough but because it’s full of so much love that you almost faint. But don’t worry, Gaon will always be ready to catch you and/or keep you steady as he will already have enveloped you in a warm hug.
PDA/Skinship
I also see Gaon, similarly to Gunil, to be very open about skinship. His MBTI being ENTP tells me that he’s not afraid of being open about things but perhaps he won’t be as extreme as Gunil. I see Gaon opting out of make outs or long kisses while in public, but he has no problem with hugs, holding hands, having his arm around you in any way or things like that. Quick pecks are also alright but he rather saves the kisses for your private time as he feels like those are your special moments, though he does do his teasing joker kisses while out in public because he knows it annoys you a little extra. However, if you were to ask him to kiss you he will kiss you. Doesn’t matter when, where or how, he will kiss you.
How the relationship would be
Amazing. Fun. Teasing. HUGS. I think those are the four words that sum up the relationship the best. He would be an amazing boyfriend who would always yearn for his s/o to laugh and be happy, he would do anything just to see you smile especially if you’ve had a bad day. Although, I see him doing a lot of teasing but he knows when to stop and be serious or when he’s going too far. But let’s be honest, you would tease him as well because you gotta get back at him somehow. I also see him as a person who would enjoy doing pretty much anything as long as he has you with him, preferably, in his arms. He loves hugs, if he could then he would bring you on stage and hug you as he performs. I can see some fights occuring because of the aforementioned teasing but nothing too serious and the fights would be over in 10 minutes. I kind of also see him as a guy who would be a little jealous if you spent a lot of time with one of the other members when you were supposed to hang out with him. He doesn’t mind you being friends with the others, with anyone really but he minds it when you come over to their dorm to spend time with him but you end up chatting with Jungsu or O.De or anyone else about anything. This would be fine if it was only for a little while but when an hour or more has passed and you are not cuddling with him and talking with him then he will be grumpy. Gaon won’t say anything or do anything really but he will just pout and he won’t talk to anyone, he’ll simply stare at you with puppy eyes while pouting until you give him attention. Just give him attention and he’ll be fine. Or just cuddle with him and talk to the others and Gaon will be happy.
Tumblr media
JOOYEON
Kisses
Playful. Many of his kisses will be playful, none the less loving, just very playful. His kisses will be either long, passionate, a little rougher or they will consist of many quick pecks while he repeats over and over again - “I” kiss, “love” kiss, “you” kiss, He will just keep repeating ‘I love you’ while giving quick kisses in between the words. He will always want to hold a hand either on your hip, lower back, neck or cheek while kissing you and he would love it if you had a hand or both on his shoulders, around his neck or in his hair playing with it. His kisses will always leave you a little dizzy as they just make you feel so many things at the same time.
PDA/Skinship
Even if his MBTI is ENFP which would indicate him to be an extrovert who’s also very focused on feelings I see him being a little shy with skinship/PDA. He loves you, no doubt about it, but he’s just a little shy to show a lot of skinship in public at the moment. I do kinda see him growing more confident in it so eventually he won’t care and he’ll kiss you and hug you in public no problem. I do see him wanting to hold hands at all possible moments though, he’s not confident enough to kiss or give long lasting hugs in public but holding hands is a safe thing to do. He will always seek out your hand and hold it. His heart does somersaults when you lay with his hand, if you’re standing somewhere or sitting somewhere and you reach out for his hand and start tracing shapes on it or simply just doing whatever he will smile and drown out any conversation around him because his focus is 100% on you.
How the relationship would be
Once again, I will say playful. He’s the maknae and he does have quite some energy so he would prefer doing something a little more active most days but after doing whatever he would want to watch a movie with you, cuddling close and enjoying each other’s presence. I see him being a little teasing but not as bad as Gaon. I can see Jooyeon being one of those guys who will just randomly hand you his hoodie or jacket, not necessarily because you seem cold but more because he wants you to wear it without having to ask you to do it so he’ll just give you his hoodie/jacket and not say anything until you have it on. Then he will kiss your nose and say - “you look cute, babe”. Anyone who dares come between Jooyeon and you will have to face his death stare and let’s be honest here, Jooyeon can look pretty intimidating when he wants to so anyone standing between the two of you will shake with fear as they see Jooyeon’s glare. The second the other person is gone though he’ll give you a cute smile and take your hand to continue whatever you were doing before being interrupted. He won’t even give the other members a chance to steal you away as he will hold your hand when walking inside the dorm and he will pull you with him quickly heading for his room and he won’t slow down or let go of you until inside. After 2 hours or so, Jooyeon will deem it alright to head outside and spend some time with the others but he will keep you within an arm's reach, exactly as he will still hold your hand. If he feels like you’re giving someone else too much attention he will gently tug your hand and give you puppy dog eyes and a pout. Meaning: ‘Pay attention to me’ so usually when he does this you would ask if the two of you could head back to his room and he will gladly agree saying - “What a pity that we can’t spend more time with you guys. Well, gotta go. Bye, see ya later!” and then he would rush off towards his room with you. Holding hands, being playful and many smiles = a relationship with Jooyeon.

Lettuce Leave
Hi. So this is semi crack. Actually it's more of a giant incorrect quote from a movie that I absolutely adore, and for me it's positively hilarious so here I go, applying one of the funniest thing in cinematographic history to the batfam. I basically own no intellectual property to this, not even the title lmao.
A/N: It's from the same universe as Lesson learned. Same batsis (Nightshade)
Enjoy!
Characters: Tim Drake, batsis!reader (Nightshade)
Word count: 2387
Warnings: Unvoluntary intake of (soft) drugs, casual talk of (soft) drugs, lots of swearing, Bruce losing it but it's funny.
Summary: You and Tim give Bruce an aneurysm and a hilarious story to recount, according to Selina (He doesn't think it's as funny, though)
Tumblr media
“Well cover me in jam and tie me to an anthill. Red Robin, come check this out”
Tim jogged down the stairs, pausing at the top of the second to last step. It took him a moment to realize what he was looking at, but when it clicked, he let out a low whistle.
“Wow, that’s a lot of weed”
Batman had sent you and Tim recon an old house on the outskirts of Gotham, one that had been flagged for being a potential hideout for Two Faces’ cronies. According to Bruce’s intel from Gordon, there had been suspicious in and outs during the middle of the night and barely any activity during the day. The windows had been recently boarded up and one passer by even noticed a black van being backed up in an old shed. He had specifically instructed you to monitor from outside and to report back to him before sunrise, but with you being you and Tim being Tim, it hadn’t taken much convincing on either part to sneak in the house and personally advance the case for Gordon.
All the conditions were there for an in depth visit from you, and clearly, it had been warranted.
You had made a beeline for the basement, because you knew if any illicit activity was happening there, it would have been hidden underground. However, the carefully set greenhouse and multiple rows of cannabis plants had been a surprise.
“This must be worth thousands in resale value” You mumbled to yourself, then frowned. “I didn’t know Two Faces was into selling grass. That’s a bit beneath him, don’t you think?”
“No, no I think you’re right” He nodded along, but his eyebrows were scrunched. “Take notes on this set up, I’ll check upstairs if I can find anything. Leave your comm open”
You turned on the device in your ear and carefully advanced into the plantation, snapping shots with your mask. You could faintly hear Tim run upstairs as you delicately threaded around the green leaves and hot lamps providing artificial lightning for the plants. Quite obviously, a lot of time, money and attention had been put into the care of the plantation, so there must have been a steady rotation of personnel to tend to the garden, which meant plant experts must have been contracted at one point or another to achieve such healthy crops.
The name Poison Ivy immediately jumped to your mind.
But weed? It seemed a bit basic for her usual theatrics. Still, you couldn’t rule her out, as she was your primary culprit as of now.
“I’m thinkin’ Ivy” You hummed. “Those plants are too pretty to be from some rando”
“Yeah well, hold that thought” Tim’s voice sounded grim and pinched in your ear, even despite the screeching from the bad connection. “I just found three guys that say otherwise”
Your feet paused, anchoring themselves onto the ground. “Wait, there are still people inside? Do you need back up?”
“We could say that, but considering they’ve been dead for at least a couple of hours now, I don’t think they’ll attack me anytime soon” He replied. “But I’ve never seen this type of kill before. It’s not Ivy, it’s not Two Faces, I don’t even think it’s the Joker. Hold on, I’m sending you a visual”
You opened the device strapped on your arm and checked the picture Tim had sent you. The three guys were all tied together in a circle, their throat slit and wrists bound with a very specific knot. But what stood out the most was the gold plastic crown on each of their heads that seemed like they had been dug into the skin of their skulls.
“Oh jeez-a-doodle” You grimaced. “What did these poor sons of bitches do to end up like edgy burger king?”
“I swear if we end up in an actual fast food war I’m quitting”
“Red Robin–”
“Don’t you dare–”
“YUM”
You laughed, turning around to resume your course. It abruptly stopped however when you heard the faintest click. You froze, trying to locate its source until you found a little green light beeping frantically. Your eyes widened.
“Red Robin”
“Not as funny the second time, Nightshade”
“No, Red Robin!” You yelled, then ducked in instinct. The beeping stopped, plunging the basement in a short lived ominous silence. “Get out of here NOW”
As if on cue, a loud explosion went off above you, sending a blast that would have cooked you well done if you hadn’t been crouching. Still, you could feel the intense heat scorching the air above you as it set the plants on fire.
“Shade, are you okay?” Tim yelled in your ear. “What the hell was that?”
“Something not good” You grunted as the smoke began filling the basement. You tried to stand up, but decided against it when you realized the last breathable air was hugging the ground. You began crawling towards the exit, cursing yourself for not having taken more seriously bruce’s stupid bootcamps. “Get outta here, I’m right behind you”
“I need to get those bodies out”
“Are you crazy?” You shrieked, then coughed loudly. “They’re dead. Leave ‘em be!”
“Oh and you think we won’t be when this place burns down with all the evidence inside?” He shouted back. “If we don’t salvage anything we won’t be any better than those motherfuckers. B will have our heads”
You swore under your breath and coughed again. “I hate that you’re right. Fine, I’m coming up to help you, hold on”
The stairs seemed way farther than they were from the ground, and the temperature was steadily rising in the room. You tried to cover your nose with your arm the best you could and picked up the pace, soom reaching the elevation in the concrete under you. You rose back to your feet and hurried up the stairs, shutting the wooden door behind you and locking it. It wouldn’t make much of a difference in the end, but maybe it would buy you a few minutes.
You joined Tim on the second floor, noticing how smoke had already begun filling the house. You then rushed to the three corpses, trying to undo the intricate knot on your brother’s other side, but it just wouldn’t come loose. Now you had to deal with a god damn boy scout as if this situation wasn’t already absurd enough.
You heard an explosion and felt the structure underneath you weaken with a groan.
With a quick glance to the mess in front of you and your combined lack of progress, you stood up and studied the bodies closely, then took a quick look around you for anything else that stood out. “Alright, enough, let’s go”
“No, I’m almost done, I can–”
“Tim” You called his name, and he looked up in surprise. You didn’t miss his wobbling as he straightened up. “Enough”
He coughed, then nodded. You grabbed his wrist and made your way to the staircase, where flames had already begun licking the walls. You tried to take a deep breath as much as you could and protected your face, then barged through the flames with Tim hot on your heels. Another explosion sent you forward as you crossed the front door’s threshold, making you stumble in your already less than gracious exit.
You ended up panting outside beside Tim, hunched over with your hands on your knees, taking in as much fresh air in your lungs as you could. You were both covered in soot and your suits were showing some surface burns, but you were fine otherwise. You looked at each other, then back at the burning house, where a third and rather large explosion blew up the windows.
Your glances slowly met again, then as if on cue, you began laughing.
An uncontrollable and seemingly unstoppable giggle overtook the both of you, and the more you looked at each other laughing, the more it made you laugh. Everything seemed so ridiculous at that moment, and all you could think about was how all of that weed downstairs was now in your lungs.
“Tim, Tim” You tried to say through your giggles. “I think we’re high”
He wheezed, barely any sound coming out of his mouth. He pulled down his mask and wiped the tears from his eyes, then coughed so hard he stumbled. That was enough to send you in hysterics again, leaning on each other for support. You spent at least five minutes trying to calm down, and by the time you could breathe again, the sun was already coming up on the horizon.
“B’s gonna kill us” His shoulders were still shaking. His speech, as well as yours you noted, had been considerably slowed down. “Oooooooh my cheeks hurt”
“Do you–” Why was this the funniest situation you had been in? “Do you think he’d believe us if we said we just smoked a fat one?”
He held eye contact for a few seconds, dead serious. “Not a chance”
That was all it took to set you off again.
Your return home was still hazy in your mind, but all you knew was that you and Tim were still laughing, but it was now quieted down to a little giggle that lingered behind. You were now faced with a very displeased Bruce, whose glare was stronger than any brute force he was capable of. Yet, it was still hilarious to you, and to Tim apparently as well considering his shaking shoulders. You were biting your lower lip to control the urge to laugh out loud and piss Bruce even more, even though you really wanted to. His anger was the funniest thing to you at the moment.
“What the hell were you thinking”
There we go.
“I thought I had been crystal clear when I told you it was recon only” His voice raised a notch, anger slipping even more into it when you and Tim exchanged a look, trying not to escalate your giggles. “Not only did you go against my direct order to stay out of the house, but you burned it down to a crisp. All that remains of all the evidence now can be fit into a fucking ziplock. Do you find this even remotely normal?”
“We did send you pictures of inside the house–”
“Pictures aren’t enough, Timothy!” He yelled, pushing off the computer desk. “Countless hours of case building are now gone in ashes, literally. We’ll have to pick up what’s left of it with a spoon. We are taken is disadvantage against Two Faces now–”
“Not Two Faces, pretty sure of it–”
“DON’T INTERRUPT ME”
You stifled a laugh while Tim covered his with a cough. Bruce seemed about to start again, but you slowly raised your hand. His thunderous glare then set on you, as if daring you to say something out of line.
“Actually B, it’s my fault” You began, sending a quick glance to your brother. “I thought… I saw someone inside in distress”
Tim nodded while Bruce took a deep breath, rming himself with patience.
“You thought you saw someone,” Bruce repeated. “You thought or were you sure?”
“There was someone” You nodded along Tim, who kept his nodding motion. “But not the one I thought… He was in distress… But not today”
A look of utter confusion set on top of Bruce’s deep frown. “Then when was he in distress?”
You shrugged slowly.
That was enough to make him lose the little bit of cool he had accumulated in those last minutes. “I am very disappointed in both of you right now. How did you even let this happen?”
You could have heard a pin drop in the cave. Tim didn’t want to try an answer, so you volunteered yourself. “With regards to the situation, I think there are some… Some… Things. That we need to, um… What was the question again?”
“Fucking hell” He muttered to himself, then returned his eyes on you. “You are lucky I found you before the police showed up. What do you think would have happened if they, or worse, the press had found Nightshade and Red Robin high out of their minds beside a burning crime scene?”
“Depends on whether they brought food” Tim replied.
You tried to push back your grin. “Red Robin”
“YUM!”
“No!”
Your laughter picked up ten folds at how Tim and Bruce had answered at the same time, giggling until you couldn’t breathe while B looked down at the both of you with something akin to discouragement.
His shoulders rose and tightened, and his voice suddenly seemed lower and more menacing. That was enough to slow down your fit of giggles. For now. “Both of you. Go to sleep now and don’t come down here until you’re fully sober. Once you can think clearly again, you will give me a full report of what happened and you will face consequences for your actions. Do I make myself clear?”
Tim slowly leaned closer to you, trying to be as subtle as he could. “That’s not good, right?”
You shook your head.
“GO!”
Tim raised his hands in surrender and backed away, then tripped on his own feet and fell on his butt. You stared at him, then blinked slowly.
Bruce let out a long sigh. “Would you help him up?”
You flattened your lips and lifted a finger, then nodded and held out your hand to Tim. You then made your way out of the cave, and up to your bedroom where you crashed like a rock.
Three feet beside your bed.
That afternoon, you happened to walk down the stairs and wander into the kitchen, where Tim was already drinking orange juice and eating a plain bagel. You came in and grabbed a banana, then took a seat beside him at the counter. You didn’t talk yet, you just ate in miserable, hangover silence.
“We’re really in trouble this time uh?”
You nodded, empty staring straight in front of you. “Yup”
“You think he’s still down there waiting for us?”
Your eyes trailed off to him, meeting his tired, reddened glance that was already on you.
“Oh yeah”
“... Should we just rip off the bandaid and go?”
“Let’s face our death like heroes”
“Alright”
“Alright”

Dead Clown 🤡
Jason todd x reader
Warning: smut, murder but it’s okay.
Jason pulled his helmet off and ignored the rain that poured down his face. He had to see this without a filter. He even considered taking off the domino mask but he was out in the open. The pouring freezing rain had him shivering but Jason was unaware. He literally couldn’t believe the sight before him.
The joker was laying in his back, the pasty skin on his forehead was marred by 2 small holes. The back of his stupid green hair looked almost black when mixed with blood. Blood and water mixed in a pink puddle around his head. Jason forced himself to check for a pulse before hitting his comms.
“Bats, you need to get down here,” he said in a shocked voice. “The joker is dead.”
“..... are you okay,” Bruce said in a measured voice.
“I’m fine. He was dead when I got here,” Jason added knowing he was number one suspect.
“On the way.”
Batman and Red Robin showed up shortly with Robin not far behind. It didn’t take long for the detectives to believe Jason’s innocence. The evidence didn’t match him.
Jason sat on a piece of concrete near the scene as they worked. He had hoped to see this for years now. But it wasn’t the same. Maybe it was because Jason didn’t get his revenge or because it looked too neat. Two quick shots to the brain. Probably didn’t even see it coming before he was lights out.
Bruce walked over to him as the other two took photos and bagged evidence. A little blood here. Some fabric fibers there. No fingerprints because of the heavy rain but a bullet casing.
“Did you see who shot him?”
“No B. I literally got here and he was already out. He was supposed to have a drug drop but I guess that didn’t happen,” Jason said with a shrug.
“You were going to fight him alone,”Bruce said with a raised brow.
“No. Just reconnaissance. I would have called it in,” Jason defended himself. Bruce gave him a side look before moving on to the case.
“Commissioner Gordon is on the way,” Tim said. He held bags of evidence carefully in his lanky fingers. “We’re finish collecting-“
“Can we go home, father? It’s freezing cold,” Damian interrupted. Bruce sighed before looking at him.
“Red Robin was talking but yes, you both should back to the cave to process everything. Red Hood, you too. The commissioner knows you have a history with the joker so it’s best you leave too. I’ll take care of this,” Bruce said carefully. Any wrong word might set Jason off with his trauma over the death of his murderer.
“Uh yeah, sure man,” Jason said clearly distracted. He would usually argue with everything Bruce said and this made Bruce even more worried for the young man. He sent a quick message to Dick before the commission met got there.
——————————
“We’re running the tests right now and there really isn’t much else to do. Robin already went to bed. Go home Hood and get some sleep,” Tim said by the computers. Jason hadn’t bothered to get out of his suit or shower.
“How long? How long until you get results?”
“Oh, uhhh maybe 12 hours? A while. Sorry DNA testing isn’t like in the movies. The meta or clone tests are even longer. It probably won’t be until tomorrow night that we know anything,” Tim said turning in his chair. “Get some sleep.”
Jason considered giving him a nasty comment but held it. He certainly felt dead on his feet and had a nice warm woman waiting at home for him.
“Call when you know anything,” he said with a growl.
“Yeesh, yeah. I will,” Tim said backing away. “Say it. Don’t spray it,” he muttered as Jason walked away.
———————————
Jason trudged into the apartment leaving wet clothing in his wake until he stumbled to bed in nothing but his boxer briefs. You were going to be mad at him for the mess in the morning but that could wait. He looked at you asleep on the bed. You looked so sweet and innocent. Like an angel compared to his dirty hands that practically dripped blood every night.
He slid under the blanket and pressed close to your warm form. You gasped awake before relaxing when you realized it was just Jason. Did you not realize he could kill you 84 different ways in your sleep? It didn’t really matter as you snuggled your head into the crook of his neck and slid your legs to entangle with his. Jason’s arms automatically wrapped around you and rubbed your back until your breathing was even in sleep. He stared at the ceiling until the hint of dusk could be seen outside.
Jason woke with a gasp followed by a moan as he felt perfect wet heat encompass his dick. He looked down to see the blankets move rhythmically as you slid your mouth along his dick. He blinked himself more awake to truly enjoy it.
It wasn’t the first time you had woken him as such but it was certainly a rare occurrence. Reserved for birthdays and Christmas, he couldn’t imagine what he did to deserve such a wonderful wake up.
“Fuck! Princess,” he groaned as you swirled before taking him deep. You hummed questionably.
“What did I, mmmm, do to deserve such a fuck! Perfect mouth. Perfect wake up,” he said pushing covers down to show you between his legs. You looked up at him with big innocent eyes as you licked long hot strips up his cock. You took him deep in your mouth before sliding off with a pop.
“I can’t spoil you?” You purred and he twitched. How did he get so lucky? “Do you want to finish in my mouth or can I ride you first?” You asked and he god honest choked on his spit.
“Baby, *cough* whatever you want, what. Ever. you want,” he said and you grinned before climbing up his body to straddle him. His hands ran along the side of your body before gripping your hips. You sunk down on him with a little mewl.
“Fuck Princess, you’re so wet. Do you like... do you like sucking my cock?” He asked breathlessly.
“Of course, Jaybird. Sometimes I touch myself when I blow you, like today,” you admitted with a sweet little giggle. He almost came right them. How could you say the dirtiest things while being the sweetest person he’d ever known?
Jason reached his thumb down to rub your clit as you moved. You whined before nodding at him. Your mouth fell open and your hips sped up. He knew that you weren’t going to last long. You really did get hot and bothered blowing him. You made little whined and whimpers before moaning his name loudly as you came. Your body clenching on him was enough and he thrust up into you as he came as well. You bent down and kissed him deeply. Jason was panting by the time you pulled back.
“Loved that for sure, but what the hell was that, Princess,” Jason asked breathlessly as you climbed off and threw on some clothing. You chuckled a little before tossing him his boxers.
“Just wanted to wake you up this morning. Do you want some pancakes, Jay,” you asked. He sat up and pulled them on.
“You certainly did. And I never say no to food. Especially my favorite food,” Jason said with a grin. “Is it secretly my birthday? Am I dying and you’re prepping me beforehand?”
You laughed. “You already did that, baby.”
Jason gasped a little before laughing.
“I just wanted to treat you like you deserve. Pick a movie. There’s a new slasher out that you can tear apart,” you said walking in the kitchen and grinned at Jason’s heart eye look he gave you.
He looked through the movies without paying them much mind. He’d seen the joker dead the day before and now his girlfriend was spoiling him. He didn’t know what to think about. He’d think about the joker finally being dead. He couldn’t hurt Jason or those near him any more. You’d been kidnapped 6 months earlier and it had almost ripped Jason apart when he found you bloody and beaten. Luckily alive though.
Then he thought about how sweet you were. A perfect angel who had nothing to do with that life. You couldn’t kill someone if you tried. He just wanted to keep you in an innocent bubble, especially after being kidnapped.
“Jay? Jason?” You said near him and he jumped. He had been so lost in thought that he didn’t notice you coming over to him with a plate of food. Heart shaped pancakes covered in whipped cream stared up at him and Jason had a little grin on his face.
“Sorry, thanks. This looks good,” he said and you grinned before sitting with your own. Jason turned on a movie and sat next to you to eat.
Jason’s phone rang.
He gave you an apologetic look before answering.
“Yeah,” he answered before quickly standing up to talk in another room. Definitely bat business, it sounded like. He came back in a few minutes putting on his suit. He bent and shoved most of a pancake in his mouth. Jason pulled you to your feet and swirled you around before holding you by the waist. You giggled.
“What’s gotten into you?”
“I’ve got to work. But when I get back, I’m making up for this morning, okay? Breakfast was amazing,” he said before pulling you into a dizzying kiss. You nodded before he left.
——————————
Jason arrived at the cave and realized something was instantly wrong. Tim, Dick, Damian, Bruce, and even Alfred were waiting for him around the computers. He slowly walked up. They didn’t think he did it, did they? Jason looked around in case of a fight.
“I have some bad news,” Dick said. Jason just stared at him. Dick sighed. “We know who killed the joker. You won’t like it. You- you might want to sit down.”
Jason frowned at his tone. It was the tone you used when telling a kid their parents died. He looked at the computer to see surveillance footage of the roof where he found the joker. He clenched his fist as the mad man walked in the screen.
“You know, this is the worst meeting place in the world,” joker said with a laugh. Jason’s eyebrows rose. He hasn’t expected audio. “So what do you have that I might want on the birds?”
A female voice off camera could be heard saying, “peace of mind.”
“Doubt you could give me that Princess,” he said in a mocking tone. His posture was casual even though the lower half of a woman’s body had walked into the screen and she held a gun in hand pointed at him. She froze at his words.
Jason couldn’t look away if he wanted to.
“Yeah, I know,” joker said. “I forget faces. Too many changing and quite a few people are a little two faced,” he said with a laugh. “But I never forget a voice. You sounded so much more sweet when you were crying tied to a chair. And the way you sobbed when I brought out the crowbar.... music to my ears. I bet it just reminded you of a certain bird that just didn’t quite make it the first time.”
“Shut up. I- I don’t care,” she said. Jason’s heart was in his throat. He knew exactly who that was before Tim’s DNA tests were complete. She moved around a little nervously.
“Honey, Princess,” he said drawn out in a mock of Jason’s voice. “Unless you plan on using that gun, put it down and we can play a game. You like games? You play one with the red bat all the time. Does he know? Does he know that you’ve been hunting me for.... geez, since you were kidnapped I’d bet.”
“Now drop that gun and I show you what pain really feels like,” he growled and she shot him in the forehead before he moved. He made a disconnected sound before falling to his knee, perfect height to be seen in the camera. She shot him again between the eyes and he fell back silently. His body splashed on the rainy roof before blood began to pool behind his head. The woman looked for a second, her body language painfully stiff, before running out the way she came.
The cave was silent as Jason realized what he just saw. He blinked a few times before clearing his throat. Has she- did she-??
“I assume the DNA matches?” He asked and Tim nodded before sliding him a paper copy. 98% match. Only chance it wasn’t you was an evil twin or clone but no, he noticed the clothing and mannerisms. It was you.
“Are you going to bring her in?” Bruce asked quietly and Jason gaped.
“I sure as shit ain’t. She killed the man who kidnapped her and abused her. That sounds like self defense to me,” he defended. Dick looked at him in pity and Jason quickly looked away.
“It was premeditated, Jason,” Bruce reminded him.
“I know. I’ll take care of it. She’s not going to prison. I’ll talk to her,” he said. Bruce gave him a hard look. “You come near her- I swear to god, Bruce. I’ll shoot you myself.”
Jason got up to leave. Dick moved out of his way. He wasn’t getting in this.
“Jason,” Bruce said but Jason was already gone.
——————————
Jason was a pretty smart guy but he was completely shocked at this moment. What possessed you to kill the joker? To seek him out? A man that tried to kill you and you were willing to meet him alone? Not even Jason wanted to do that. And that morning you were treating Jason special. He thought for a second that you killed the joker for him. It chilled him to the bone but he put that thought out of his head. No, you had your own reasons to do it.
Jason walked in the apartment cautiously. Who knows how you would be acting, the perfect girlfriend or finally breaking down when you realized you killed a man. He found you in the bedroom asleep. You didn’t look like you had just killed someone and for a second Jason had doubt but the video and DNA didn’t lie.
He crawled in bed with you. You pulled him close and laid your head on his chest and Jason’s heart hurt. You looked fine but killing people left scars and your first time killing someone was not something you forget.
You woke with a gasp and cry hours later. You trembled and grasped at Jason tightly. He woke up confused before pulling you closer.
“Hey, Princess, I’m right here. You’re okay,” he said rubbing your back and holding you close. “What’s going on?”
“I see him. When I sleep. Every time,” you breathed almost in tears. Jason kissed your cheek and he felt wetness on your skin. You had been crying. He didn’t want to ask but now was as good a time as any.
“Princess, what did you do last night?” Jason asked so quietly. You looked up at him quickly and it confirmed everything he needed to know.
“Nothing. I was here. All night. Wh-why?” You asked, lying terribly. Jason sighed. He closed his eyes before willing himself to speak.
“You know I’m a detective. I can tell that you’re lying,” Jason started gently.
“What does that mean,” you said a little too quickly. Your breathing started to speed up again and Jason hated the look of fear on your face.
“I’m not mad. I won’t turn you in. Just tell me what happened,” he said softly, watching you intently. You wanted to shrink away a little.
“I can’t,” you whispered. Your eyes started to water and you blinked them away.
“Did you do it? Did you kill him? I can help you,” Jason said and you froze. “Talk to me.”
“I-I did,” you said looking at him in terror. Your eyes were red rimmed. “I did.”
“I’m sorry,” he said pulling you tight to his body. You broke down in little sobs and clung to him. “I’m so sorry that you thought you had to. I should have. I’m sorry.” He wrapped you up and made little shhh noises and you cried until you fell back asleep.
You woke up later with a pounding headache wrapped up tightly against Jason. He was on his phone but sat it down when he saw you were up.
“Hey,You don’t have to worry about it. I’ve taken care of everything,” he said ever so gently. You nodded.
“What does that mean?” You asked slowly.
“Red Hood took the wrap on it. No great loss with one less psycho in Gotham. Harley Quinn had an impromptu parade with hyenas and jugglers and everything. Nightwing made an appearance. Dick said Barbie slept through the night for the first time in months and she said she’d help you with anything you need,” Jason said trying to be positive. You gave him a dry smile.
“That’s nice. What about- what about Batman?” You asked.
“He’s Batman. But he’ll get over it. And the next time you kill a murderous clown, let me help. He could have killed you. And if anyone knows how to hide a body, it’s me,” Jason said giving you a squeezing hug. You smiled despite yourself.
“I’ll remember that. I’m a little sad I missed the hyena parade,” you admitted.
“Oh she’s having a parade every day this week. An anonymous donor gave her a ton of fireworks. Fairly certain it was Tim,” Jason said.

You know we do!!!!!
buy me a coffee! it means a lot when you support me!
“Amélie, you’re on in five!”
Amélie’s eyes go wide, and she immediately starts to panic. Harry shakes his head as she anxiously paces around the dressing room. He’s seen her nervous before, dozens of times, but this is one of the worst times he’s ever seen it. From the time Amélie opened her eyes that morning, she was anxiously sputtering about how nerve-wracking this experience is and how she’s unprepared and how she has no idea why they’ve asked her of all people to join the show as a special guest. Harry lets her speak, knowing how she is, and carefully chooses his words to calm her down. Harry’s been with Amélie long enough to know what to do.
“Angel, you’re going to do fine,” Harry reassures her, Hensley propped on his hip, his arm circling around her shoulders to bring her into his chest. “Promise it’s not that scary.”
“Easy coming from you! You’ve been doing this over a decade!”
“And you’ve watched me do things like this for most of that time. I’m sure you’ve picked up some tricks, here and there.” Harry brushes a stray strand of hair away from her face. “More than that, you’re much smarter and more well-spoken than me. You’ll be fine.”
Amélie lays her head on his shoulder and takes a deep breath, leaning her chin on his chest and staring into his eyes, a smile creeping its way onto her lips as he grins at her, kissing her forehead sweetly. “I’m happy you’re here with me. Makes me feel better knowing you’ll be back here when I’m done.”
“Wouldn’t want to be anywhere else,” Harry assures her, leaning down and kissing her three times for good measure, before patting her backside and spinning her around to walk out the door. “Break a leg, Cherry. Hen and I will be back here waiting for you.”
Amélie is escorted to the stage by a production assistant who must not be more than twenty years old. She immediately compliments Amélie’s pantsuit, a baby pink suit with a white silk top underneath that is awfully similar to a suit that her husband wore years earlier. Amélie grins and takes a deep breath in, thinking about every time she’s seen Harry do this and when they’ve done it together. Questions will be similar to what she’s done before, and she just needs to get through.
Amélie can do it.
“Amélie Beneventini, everyone!”
Amélie walks into the set and waves and smiles, immediately walking over to Kelly Clarkson and giving her a hug. Kelly nods to the chair behind her, and they sit, immediately diving into conversation and questions.
“Hi! How are you? It’s so lovely to meet you and have you on the show!”
Amélie smiles and lets out a breath that she’s been holding in her lungs for what feels like a year. “I’m good! I don’t know how you do this every day; this is insane! I’ve never done anything like this this before.”
“Is this your first talk show?”
“Sort of,” Amélie giggles, sitting back in her chair and making herself comfortable. “I was on a talk show, last week, with my husband, but this is my first appearance alone. Very nerve-wracking.” Amélie pauses for a moment and then continues. “I’ve been doing movies for a few years now, so you’d think this would be like, something I’ve done, but no! Honestly, I’ve never gotten more calls than when I won the Oscar and announced I’d be working on the new movie. This is the first time that I’ve actually been called to do these things. It’s all very exciting.”
“Congratulations on your Oscar, by the way. Joker was absolutely incredible! Tell me, what was it like to do the art direction on such a big project? And to see your work rewarded with such a prestigious award? I’m sure that was such an incredible moment, and your speech was so lovely.”
“Thank you so much. Honestly, it’s been so, so rewarding. Joker was by far one of the best pieces I have ever worked on, in and including all the exhibitions and murals and whatnot that I’ve done over the years. I loved every minute of that film. Art Direction is so important and the cast and crew and director and everyone was so receptive to my vision that it really was such a perfect experience.”
“You’re the Art Director for the new movie, Don’t Worry Darling. How has that experience been and what’s been the best part of working on the set?”
“I love Thrillers. I do. I love the cinematography and the direction that comes with films, and so it was an easy yes when I was approached to the film at the Oscars. I got the script and things a few months later and I was working all summer into the fall. Everyone has been so incredible to work with. I have loved the experience and the opportunity, and I can’t wait for everyone to see what we’ve created. It really was a team effort.”
“You worked with quite a few special people on the set of Don’t Worry Darling. One of which included your husband, Harry Styles.”
“Huh? That guy? Never heard of him,” Amélie giggles and nods when everyone starts cheering. One of their more famous pictures from the Oscars appears on the screen, earning loud hoots and hollers from the crowd. “Mhm. I did, in fact, work with my husband on the movie.”
“Tell us about that experience. What was it like working with him on set? Do you work well together?”
“We do, actually! I think everything is about communication, you know, and over the last seven years we’ve been together, we’ve learned how to communicate very well. Harry knows how much I love my job, how much it means to me, so everything he does is to try and make my job easier. On top of the fact that he loves his job. All we want is to see each other succeed.”
“You mentioned you’ve been together for seven years. I know you touch on this in your debut magazine cover for Vogue, which before we continue, congratulations are very much in order for that!” Amélie shakes her head, trying to hide the blush on her cheeks. “How did you two meet? Was it a love at first sight thing? How did that go?”
“Our meeting was a collective effort from our best friends, who had no idea we would meet, actually.” Amélie adjusts herself in her chair and continues. “Quite a long story made short, we were at the right place at the right time. I hate to say it was “love” at first sight, but infatuation at first sight, for sure. He was about to go on tour, at the time, and I was finishing up my degree and so we had a bit of an agreement, shall we say. Our whole, “we’ll have fun for a month” idea didn’t quite work out the way we planned it, though, because four months later I was meeting his family in another country, and we were having family dinners at my parents’ house.”
Kelly laughs with the crowd and shakes her head. “Quite some time has passed and you two have broken the news a few times. From your first Oscars appearance together, to the Met Gala, to the announcement that you were married! Most recently, though, an interview came out that featured someone very special to you. Do you mind telling us who that is?”
On the screen behind them is a picture from their magazine cover, a picture with Harry and Amélie holding Hensley’s hands between them at the crest of where the ocean meets the sand. Amélie immediately breaks into a huge smile. That’s her favorite picture of the three of them. One that they talked about tirelessly to get approved and agreed upon as it doesn’t have Hensley’s face nor her name anywhere. Her privacy is of utmost importance to them, always.
“Notre petit papillon,” Amélie smiles warmly, her cheeks flushing under the bright lights. “Last year, my husband and I had a baby. Our little butterfly.”
“I met your daughter with Harry backstage,” Kelly gushes, leaning forward in her seat. “You have the sweetest little girl. And, by God, she’s stunning.”
“Thank you, thank you,” Amélie says, turning away from the picture and facing Kelly. “I’m quite obsessed with her. We both are. She’s literally our favorite person in the world, and she’s only one.”
“I absolutely love that for the both of you. Thank you so much for being here and chatting with us. You can watch Don’t Worry Darling in theatres this week and read all about Amélie and Harry’s whirlwind romance in Vogue’s latest edition. Thank you!”

Taking Chances Ch. 28: Summer Changes (School)
AO3
Prev
A week after the Disney movie marathon, Marinette was finally back on patrol. No thanks to her dad though. If it was up to him, she’d probably never patrol again. Luckily for her, (unluckily for him) her brothers were adamant on her coming back to the field. Which led to her current problem. Hanging upside down from a gargoyle near Wayne Enterprises.
“Ukht, what have you done?” Damian asks, and though she can’t see his face, she can tell by his voice that he’s exasperated. Join the club, she thinks, at least you’re not upside down.
“Why do you automatically think I did something?” She asks, trying desperately to turn around so that she can talk to him. It was really awkward talking to someone when you couldn’t see them but you knew they were near you.
“Because you are the one hanging upside down,” Damian says flatly. She huffs.
“It’s not like I want to be, Robin. It just kind of happened,” She says.
“And how exactly did it happen? I have never seen your yoyo betray you like that before. Not even in the videos when you were still very new.” Damian says, and she swears he’s smirking. He’s definitely laughing at her on the inside, and as much as she wants to be frustrated, she can’t. It wasn’t easy amusing her little brother (unless you were an animal) so she wasn’t about to ruin it.
“Hood made a bet relating to this exact gargoyle and I’d never been this way before and I just, I don’t know. Somehow I misjudged where my yoyo was going and next thing I know, I’m tied up and Hood is gone.” She says, sighing.
“Where did he go?” Damian asks.
“Over here so I could record the dumbass trying to untie herself.” Jason says with a snort, she manages to turn just enough so she can see him and stick her tongue out at him. He chuckles. “You’re the one who somehow tied herself up with a magic string, I’m just getting the proof so I can show Wonder Woman.” He says and Marinette’s jaw drops.
“You wouldn’t dare!” She screams, struggling against her yoyo, finally able to get the string to loosen slightly.
“Oh, I’d dare.” Jason says and Marinette just knows he has a huge smirk underneath his stupid helmet.
“But Wonder Woman is the coolest person ever and she can’t see me like this!” Marinette complains, trying not to grin when she feels the string start to move the way she needs it to. She ignores Jason’s next remark, instead focusing on the string and- yes! She free falls for a moment, laughing at her brothers’ panic before she swoops up and jerks Jason’s phone away from him.
“You little shit!” He calls after her, starting to chase her.
“You’ll get it back once I delete the videos!” She calls back, laughing as she continues swinging through Gotham, a warm feeling in her chest as she looks over the city that has quickly become her second home.
---
“HAPPY BIRTHDAY!” A voice screams, making Marinette jump out of bed with a yelp. She clutches her hand over her heart, glaring at her oldest brother.
“Are you trying to make sure I don’t make it past my fifteenth birthday?” She asks with a huff. Dick just grins.
“Happy birthday kiddo! I can’t believe you’re already fifteen!” He exclaims, picking her up in a giant hug. She wants to complain, ask him to let her down, but it’s nice, so instead she returns the hug the best she can. Until she glances out the window.
“Richard Grayson.” She says in a tone she usually reserves for enemies. She feels him stiffen, the hug turning into more of a restraint than a cuddle.
“Yes?” He says.
“Did you honestly wake me up, before the sun, because it’s my birthday?” She asks.
“Yes?” He says, his voice cracking slightly. She purses her lips and lets out a long sigh.
“Dad has a no killing rule.” She says, and suddenly she’s back on the ground.
“Oh would you look at the time, Mar’i needs another bedtime story loveyousomuchgottagobye.” Dick rushes out, practically sprinting out of her room. She just smiles and shakes her head. She’d learned intimidation tactics from Jason and Damian, who both claimed her size made her an easy target against bad guys. They were right, of course, so she was fine with a few extra lessons. Seems they were working. Deciding to call her Maman and Papa since she’s already awake, she frowns as it goes straight to voicemail. It would be nearly eleven in Paris, so the bakery shouldn’t be too busy. She quickly checks the Akuma Alert App to make sure she hadn’t missed anything while she slept. Nothing. So why weren’t they answering? She had assumed they would be waiting for her call since it was the first birthday she’d spent without them. Sighing, she lays back down on her bed, closing her eyes and trying to fall back asleep.
As she lays there, she frowns as a realization hits her. This was the anniversary of her birth mother’s death. Her mood instantly sours and her stomach churns. It was the first year that she could do something about it, the first year she could visit her grave. Quickly making a decision, Marinette throws on a pair of black leggings and an oversized black hoodie. Hopefully no one would spot her.
“Kaalki.” Marinette calls out quietly, not wanting to wake Tikki (who had somehow slept through Dick’s intrusion).
“Oooo, Guardian, are we sneaking out?” They ask, an amused smile on their face. Marinette frowns.
“Yes, but it’s for a good reason.” She says, and Kaalki snorts.
“Whatever the reason, I’m happy to be of assistance.” They reassure her. Marinette smiles and calls the transformation, opening a portal in the cemetery where her birth mother is buried. Her Maman had taken her once, right after telling her she was adopted. It was extremely hard to avoid being akumatized that day, and Marinette steels herself before dropping Kaalki’s transformation. Today would probably be even harder. Pulling the hood over her head to try and hide her identity, she glances around the cemetery, unsurprised to see the small place empty. Despite its small size, it was well taken care of, with beautiful trees adding shade and creating a melancholy feeling. Taking a deep breath, she walks over to the tombstone in the far corner, underneath the Willow tree. Bridgette Le. Died July 9th. Marinette barely notices the tears that start to form as she sits down, tucking her knees into her chest.
“Hi Mama. I-I’m sorry I haven’t really been by to see you much. Did you know I’ve been spending the summer with Dad? Sometimes, I wonder if you would’ve been okay with that. None of us really know why you left, why you didn’t tell him. I’m not blaming you, I just wonder if you would’ve been okay with me knowing him.” She talks, though she knows she’ll never hear a response. And she tries to pretend that fact doesn’t hurt her. “I have brothers. Four of them. They’re all great in their own ways, but they all also make me want to rip my hair out. Three of them are older, Damian’s younger than me. He kinda acts like a big brother at times though. And I have a big sister, Cass. She doesn’t say much, but she’s awesome. She’s in Hong Kong right now, so most of our conversations have been video calls. I have a niece, too.” Marinette stops, wiping furiously at her eyes. She didn't want to cry. At all. But knowing her birth mother would never be able to be part of her life, would never know any of these people like she did- it was hard.
“Guardian, please breathe.” Kaalki says, floating up to sit in front of Marinette’s face. Marinette blinks at the Kwami before listening to them. If they were worried, then Marinette was more lost in her head than she originally thought.
“And today’s my birthday. I was excited at first, and then I remembered the other thing that this day was. Remembered that it’s also the day you-” Marinette pauses, and grits her teeth. “I am so sorry, Mama. I am so sorry that I caused your death.” She chokes out, dropping her head onto her knees, trying to suppress the sobs threatening to break out of her chest.
“We need to go. Marinette, we need to go.” Kaalki urges, patting her cheek urgently. Marinette calls the transformation and falls through a portal, closing it quickly to keep the butterfly that was surely after her from following. She definitely didn’t need to test how far the victim had to be to be akumatized. The second she lands, she lets the transformation drop and the sobs break out.
“Shit Pixie.” Jason curses, and suddenly she’s wrapped in a warm hug, sobs tearing through her as she continues to apologize.
---
Jason Todd had been through a lot of weird shit. Waking up in a pool of green water after being fucking murdered by the Joker, was weird. Emotional baby sister falling through a portal into the room and sobbing? Also weird. But also heartbreaking. He grabs onto her and just holds her, desperately trying to give her some type of comfort.
“Shhhh, it’s okay Pix. I got you.” He mumbles, holding her close. Damian rushes in, sword drawn, face scrunched up when he sees them. Jason shakes his head, this wasn’t something that they could fix with a sword. He wasn’t exactly sure why his baby sister was crying so hard, but he had caught a couple of muffled apologies, so whatever it was, he didn’t think it was something that he (or Damian) could kill. Or, rather, maim, since she was against murdering people that were against her for some reason.
“Has anyone seen Mars, she’s not in her room-” Replacement starts, freezing as he walks into the room.
“Excellent situational awareness, Drake.” Damian mutters, glaring at him. Jason shoots both of them a glare, now was not the time to be fighting. Especially since the kid’s other parents were on their way to celebrate her birthday. If they showed up and she was sobbing, they’d take her home and never let them see her again. And Jason was NOT going to let that happen.
“Anyone know if M’s decided to not kill me yet?” Dick asks, walking into the room with a huge grin that falls the second he sees what’s happening. Jason resists the urge to roll his eyes. Apparently none of his brothers could read a fucking room. Instead of staying at the edge of the room like Damian and Tim, Dick walks over.
“Hey kiddo, it’s okay. We’re here.” He says softly. The kid pulls away from him, though he can tell it’s a little reluctantly, before launching herself at Dick, her sobs starting to die down. Jason lets out a short huff, running his fingers through his hair as he tries to think of what could have set her off. There were no akuma alarms, but she fell out of a portal. Which means she was out of the manor when she got upset. He watches as Dick pats her hair gently and whispers to her. God, he’s such a dad. Then again, he’s been mother henning him and their other brothers for years, so it’s not really a surprise.
“I’m sorry guys.” Marinette says suddenly, her voice small as she stays hidden in Dick’s arms.
“No need to apologize, Pixie Pop.” Jason reassures her. She finally pulls away from Dick and Jason’s heart, honest to god breaks at the broken look on her face.
“She died in childbirth, you know.” She whispers, and suddenly it makes sense. Why she was sitting there sobbing on her birthday, why she’d fallen out of a portal.
“That is not your fault.” Damian says firmly, walking over and standing face to face with Marinette, something Jason knew annoyed the girl. Damian was two years younger, but a little taller than her. She didn’t seem to mind now, though.
“But it was. If I hadn’t been born-” She starts and Jason frowns at the thought.
“The world would be a much shittier place.” He says with finality, not leaving room for her to argue. “Pix, you’re amazing, and the world would really suck without you. Never be sorry you were born.” Jason says firmly, stumbling slightly when she launches herself at him, wrapping her arms around him tightly.
“Thank you Jay.” She mumbles, and he can tell she’s crying again, but this time it’s not sobs, so he thinks it’s fine.
“Come on, let’s all watch a movie.” Repla- Tim suggests and Jason raises an eyebrow at the idea, briefly wondering what kind of movie he’d pick. They all pile on the giant sectional that Bruce had bought specifically for impromptu movie nights as Tim sticks the DVD in. Jason just snorts as the title card for “The Addams Family” comes on, settling back in the couch, ready to watch one of the greatest movies ever.
---
“Thank you again for flying us out here for her birthday.” Sabine says, smiling at him. Bruce returns the smile and nods.
“Of course, thank you for letting her spend the summer here. I know she’s appreciated the break from her classmates.” He says, his smile quickly fading at the confused look on both Sabine and Tom’s faces.
“What do you mean?” Tom asks.
“Marinette hasn’t told you?” Bruce asks, suddenly regretting bringing it up. Why hadn’t she said anything? They were her parents too. Sure, she’d made it clear they couldn’t know about Ladybug, but her class wasn’t a hero problem. They were a civilian problem.
“We knew that she wasn’t hanging out with them as often, and that she didn’t talk about her class as much as she used to. We just assumed that she was busy.” Sabine says, her face a mixture of sadness and anger.
“My apologies, I assumed she’d talked to you.” Bruce says, feeling as if he had crossed a line. Would they be mad at him, for her telling him something she hadn’t told them?
“She’s always looking out for others first,” Tom finally sighs, a tired smile on his face. “She probably thought she was saving us from being akumatized.” Bruce’ jaw clenches. Had Marinette really suffered in silence to avoid being forced to fight her parents?
“We can continue this conversation later, right now we should focus on her birthday.” Sabine says, placing a hand on Tom’s arm. He nods and Bruce makes a note to talk to the two about the possibility of her switching schools.
“She’s probably in her room.” Bruce says, leading the two towards the stairs.
“Actually, Master Bruce, the children are all in the informal sitting room. I believe they snuck down to have a movie night after Master Dick woke Miss Marinette to wish her a happy birthday.” Alfred says, Bruce watches his face and knows that’s not all, but doesn’t press. It had to be something that he couldn’t talk about in front of the Dupain Cheng’s.
“Of course they did. Thank you, Alfred. Alfred, this is Sabine Cheng and Tom Dupain, Marinette’s parents. Tom, Sabine, this is Alfred Pennyworth. He’s the man who raised me.” Bruce says, smiling at him. The three exchange pleasantries and soon Bruce is leading the two to the sitting room. He pushes the door open gently, careful not to let it slam. He spots a sword on the floor near Damian and quickly grabs it, moving it away. If he was woken up suddenly, he would still panic and attempt to fight his way out.
“She looks so peaceful.” Sabine whispers, and Bruce smiles, a genuine smile, he didn’t have to fake a smile when most of his children were together and safe and happy. Or, quiet, at least. It was rare.
“I’ve found them like this several times.” Bruce admits, pulling out his phone to show the two all of the pictures he’d taken of the kids piled together sleeping. Sabine and Tom smile widely at the pictures and Bruce quickly sends them their favorites.
“B, I swear to god, I can sense you in here. Let us sleep.” Jason mumbles grumpily.
“Sorry Jason, Marinette’s parents are here so it’s time to get up.” Bruce says, amused at the way his son’s hair was attempting to defy gravity. Jason looked around sleepily, waved lazily at Sabine and Tom, and then collapsed back on the couch. Bruce sighs. “Would the two of you like to have a cup of coffee while we give them a few more minutes to sleep?” He offers.
“That would be lovely.” Sabine says, and Bruce leads the two to the kitchen, hoping Tim (who had sat straight up after Jason flopped down) would take the hint and wake up the others.
---
Marinette sighs happily as everyone sits down at the table for dinner. The day had been amazing, despite the rough start. And her Dad had even flown her Maman and Papa out to spend the day with her. They couldn’t stay for long, they had the bakery to run after all, but it was still nice to see them. Marinette glances at the end of the table where a place was set, but no one sat.
“What’s with the extra plate?” Jason asks, turning to Alfred who was sitting in the chair next to it instead of his regular seat.
“It is for Miss Le.” He says, and she can almost feel everyone freeze. Her throat tightens, but she still smiles at him with watery eyes.
“Thank you, Alfred.” She says quietly. He nods.
“You are quite welcome, Miss.” He says. She clears her throat and looks back at her Maman, noticing that her smile was also a little sad. It had been all day, but Marinette was certain it wasn’t anything to worry about. Bridgette had been close with her Maman, surely she was just mourning her today, openly for the first time in a long time.
---
Marinette groans at whoever is trying to wake her up.
“Five more minutes.” She mutters, burrowing deeper under the covers. It was summer break, why wouldn’t anyone let her sleep?
“Come on sweetheart, your Papa and I want to talk to you and Bruce.” Her Maman says, and she immediately sits up. Was she in trouble? Had her Maman figured out the whole Batman thing? Had she figured out the Ladybug thing?
“Uh, okay.” She says, sliding out of bed and stepping into slippers. She wasn’t sure how serious the conversation was, but since her Maman didn’t stop her from walking out of the room in her pajamas, she relaxed slightly. It couldn’t be that serious, right? She follows her Maman into her Dad’s study, glancing wearily at the clock in the corner. Her Maman was often too observant. Hopefully she didn’t notice anything odd about the clock. They all sit in silence for an entire minute until Marinette can’t handle it anymore.
“Am I in trouble?” She asks hesitantly, looking between her parents’ faces.
“Of course not, we just- We noticed how different you are.” Her Maman says and Marientte frowns, furrowing her eyebrows. Different? She was different?
“How?” She asks.
“You’re happier than I’ve seen you in months honey. Your smile reaches your eyes, you talk freely, you seem peaceful.” Her Maman says softly, and Marinette blinks in surprise. Had she really been so easy to read in Paris? Had her parents really been able to tell? She’d wanted to hide it from them, not let them see how everything was piling on her, crushing her. She didn’t want to worry them.
“What do you- how-” She stumbles over her words, trying to figure out where she messed up.
“We didn’t know why until we talked to Bruce.” Her Papa says and she turns to glare at her Dad, feeling a little betrayed. He holds up his hands in surrender.
“Marinette, you didn’t tell me not to tell them about your class.” He reminds her, and she huffs.
“Guess we can cross mind reader off the list of things you can do.” She mumbles, making her Papa snort.
“It wasn’t just that though. We’d seen how restrained you had become, how you never went out with friends and you stopped talking about them.” Her Maman says softly. Marinette grits her teeth, hugging herself to try and hold herself together.
“I didn’t want to worry you.” She says, her voice barely audible. That wasn’t the main reason though. She didn’t want to fight her parents, and if they knew everything going on with Lila, they’d definitely be akumatized. She couldn’t fight them. Not if she could help it.
“What would you say about transferring schools?” Her Maman asks suddenly, and Marinette jerks her head up, looking at her with wide eyes. Transfer schools? It would be great, amazing, fantastic, but- but her classmates would still come to the bakery. Still give her the same odd looks they’d been giving her since they found out that she’s a Wayne.
“What school?” She asks, because yes, that makes a difference. Chloe had transferred schools not long ago, and Marinette did not want to trade Lila for Chloe. She’d rather not deal with either of them, if she was being honest.
“Gotham Academy.” Her Maman says, and Marinette feels lucky that she wasn’t drinking anything, because she would have definitely done a spit take. Gotham Academy? As in, live in Gotham year round? What-
“Are you giving me up?” She asks, suddenly hurt. Her Maman’s eyes widen and her Papa pulls her into a giant hug.
“Of course not honey.” He says, rubbing her back gently and squeezing her lightly.
“We asked Bruce if he thought Gotham Academy would be a good school for you. He offered to let you fly home some weekends, and any of the breaks you want. Or to fly us out here if you have time off school. You don’t have to say yes, and you don’t have to make a decision right now.” Her Maman reassures her as her Papa lets her go. Marinette turns to look at her Dad, his face unreadable.
“Would you really be okay with that?” She asks, and he nods.
“We all just want you to be happy, Marinette. Wherever that may be. And we’re all willing to work together to do that.” He says and she smiles, letting out a soft sigh.
“I- I’d need to think about it a little more,” She says, running through the idea in her head. It seemed perfect, besides the whole ‘bouncing back to Paris for attacks’ thing. But she’d been doing it all summer, it had been fine so far. And maybe, maybe, Hawkmoth would even be defeated by the end of summer. No matter what, things were changing and Marinette was trying her best to keep up.
