Thinking about how Daniel made the photo of him with Pierre and Patrick as the first image in that dump. He could’ve made it the helmet swap with Oscar, a group photo, or the 3 on the garage floor. Any of those probably would’ve made more sense from an engagement or aesthetic standpoint. I’m sorry I know I said I was done posting about this but it’s sooo frustrating to see swifties defending Travis with things like “well he’s at work and the NFL likes to stay neutral about politics.” First of all it’s categorically false that the NFL stays neutral about politics! Second of all, athletics in general has long been a stage for activism. Kneeling for the national anthem was a huge movement WITHIN THE NFL, mind you, and it wasn’t too long ago. Athletes have very visible voices! Have we already forgotten “shut up and dribble”? On the other side you have losers like Harrison Butthead giving commencement speeches basically suggesting women should shut up and make babies and sandwiches without any consequence to his job and known rapists being hired as quarterbacks because they can throw a football. Frankly, you’re delusional if you really think Travis doesn’t have the clout or standing in the NFL to be as loud as he pleases about politics without the slightest risk to his job.

Finally, I don’t think anyone was actually expecting Travis to magically be loud about politics all of sudden. However, I do think the absolute bare minimum here is to at least learn how to answer a blatantly politicized question ‘neutrally’ in a way that doesn’t easily align you with the side of disgusting beliefs and actions. And I furthermore think it’s frankly dangerous to be purporting the American exceptionalist bullshit idea of “America is the best country in the world 🤪” especially given the last two weeks. Like, read the fucking room man. Do fucking better.

I do not think Travis is a bad person, but to me it is deeply unattractive to be so absolutely spineless (or else flat out clueless, I’m not sure which is worse) in the face of a direct question like the one he was asked. This article I just read today states that for the first time since 2021 it is likely “end racism” will not be stenciled into the end zone at the Super Bowl. The same Super Bowl our Dictator (ahem, President) is attending. Over half of all NFL players are black, but “end racism” is now too controversial of a statement to emblazon on the field. Meanwhile Travis is out here saying the president’s attendance is “awesome” and an “honor” and America is the best country in the world. That DOES matter. And we should absolutely be talking about it and calling him out for it, not excusing it.

FLAMING HOT TAKE INCOMING, DISCLAIMER FIRST: punch out is a game with no lore and little to no characterization so it’s natural that different people have different takes on a character and I 10000% respect that and I love seeing how people interpret stuff differently from me!!!!! this is not a dig or a diss this is just personal observation!!!!!!!!!!

i don’t get why the overall fandom consensus is that don flamenco is head over heels in love with the blonde lady [that the fandom calls Carmen (this I do understand why)] in his cinematic trailer. it’s always been apparent to me that this guy is supposed to be like a casanova/serial womanizer/harem enthusiast douchebag kinda guy.

1. country of origin and profession: every enemy character in this game is supposed to be an exaggerated cultural stereotype/caricature, so it’s natural to assume that most of their character traits are not meant to subvert audience expectations, and flamenco is no exception! Spaniards are stereotyped as carelessly romantic, and toreadors seem to be associated with more socially conservative or dare I say, sexist/woman objectifying behavior. it would be logical to presume that flamenco also embodies these traits

2. contender intro slideshow: most people (and I as well) like to use the final slide of his contender intro as evidence of his romantic status. however, I fail to see how it shows him as faithful; on the contrary, the fact that the girls around “Carmen” are a. (for one of them) also wearing roses - the same color as the one he’s giving her, in fact - and b. clearly looking shocked and disgusted seems to show me that those girls were also the object of flamenco’s short-lived affection and that the blonde girl is just his next “target” so to speak.

now how to justify his in-battle voice lines referring to his affection for carmen? well look no further than Carmen, the opera by Bizet, where the titular Carmen ends up being with a toreador (like don flamenco). it could be possible that he uses “Carmen” as a pet name for all of his flings rather than the actual name of his one true love

please feel free to prove me wrong bc I see nobody else with this interpretation and I wanna know why everyone agrees that he’s a faithful boyfriend/malewife lmao

So I just read all 914 pages of Fool’s Fate in one day. I don’t think I’ve ever read that much in one day ever. These books are so good holy snickerdoodles I love the politics and the amazing worldbuilding (robin writes matriarchies and different societal structures SO GOOD) and the realistic characters and Fitz’s unreliable narration and also the gay ass ‘friendship’ between him and the fool (fitz ‘no homo but also my bond with you is deeper than my love for anyone else including my other half bonded wolf and my wife and also sex’ farseer)

I can’t find my post from a few years back about the crk fandom’s reaction to Affogato, but anyway, Peach Blossom just released and I’m here to make my Why Can’t the Cis CRK Fans be Normal About Gender Nonconforming Characters Part 2 post.

Seriously, what the fuck? I don’t think the reaction is as bad as with Affogato, but maybe it just looks that way to me because I’m not nearly as active in the fandom as I used to be.

Of course people are sexualizing him, disappointing but not surprising. Before he released, everyone seemed very insistent that he was evil/would pretend to be helpful but later be revealed to be working for Mystic Flour (which is funny in hindsight considering he turned out to be literally just some guy with 2 minutes of screentime). But their justification for why he was so obviously going to be evil was his feminine appearance, which like way to reveal your biases I guess.

I straight up saw one person say they knew he was going to be a trickster type character because of his “deceptive appearance.” What an absolutely unhinged thing to say. Please tell me y’all don’t say shit like this to real people. Imagine seeing a gnc person and going “you don’t look like what I think a person of your gender should look like, therefore you’re manipulative and a liar.”

There’s been a lot of trap jokes as well. Most of them seem to be ironic/self-aware so the people doing them don’t think there’s any harm. But it really doesn’t matter if you’re genuine or not, it still perpetuates a harmful mindset if the joke is the mere existence of gnc people, especially gnc men, being inherently deceptive/outrageous/confusing.
