Because Every Christmas Is...
Rating: G Chapters: 1
Summary: Noticing the recent dour Doctor, Yaz and Dan hatch a plan to make this Christmas one of the best she ever had.
Read this story on another platform: Archive of Our Own
“What’s wrong, Sheffield?” Dan asked, taking Yaz out of her thoughts.
“Hmm?”
“You’ve had that sourpuss look on your face all day.”
“So?” Yaz rebutted, a bit more defensive than she wanted.
“So, Christmas is in a few days and we just saved the entire universe. It’s a time for smiling and relaxation. Not moping about. “
It had been a couple of weeks since their encounter with the Flux and the trio had begun life in the Tardis together. Yaz had shown Dan as much of the place as possible as he acclimatised quickly. The trio had had one or two trips since, but since the Tardis wasn’t in the best of shapes, they chilled in Liverpool again for a bit.
“You’re right. I just…”
It wasn’t an easy thing to admit, really. How can you really say that your entire mood is spoiled because one person isn’t happy? In Yaz’s mind, it was quite easy to say it. Of course, seeing her like that upset her, but she couldn’t say it out loud, so she did the next best thing. Her eyes were drawn towards the console as a blonde locked Timelord was hard at work, fixing her ship.
“Ah. Now I get it.”
“Get what?” Yaz asked, feigning ignorance.
“You’re worried about her.”
Her staring wasn’t the best way for her to hide that fact, she would admit. Tugging her shirt sleeve, she remarked, “I wasn’t. I mean, it were just that it… She’s just..”
She sighed.
“I thought she’d finally be happy again. Ever since we started tracking Karvanista, she’s been different.”
“Different how?”
“More serious, more focused. Less time for having fun.”
“Well, outside of any unforeseen circumstances-“
“Which happens to us a lot…” Yaz interjected.
“We have time now dedicated to being together and having fun.”
“It’s not that easy.”
“Yaz, it’s Christmas!”
“Exactly!”
They noticed the Doctor looked over in their direction as they shouted, but she quickly went back to working on the console. They couldn’t discuss this here. Not when she was in earshot. So Yaz took Dan by the hand and they headed to the hallway.
“Look, in all the time that I’ve been here, we’ve never once celebrated Christmas.”
“Never?”
“Never.”
“Is she like the Grinch?”
“That’s the weird thing. Sometimes, she’ll go on these tangents about how she helped a real life Scrooge love Christmas, or how she saved two children from an ice lady or she even met the real Santa!”
“She… she knows he isn’t real, right?”
“Honestly, with some of the things I’ve seen over the years, I think I’m on her side with that.”
Dan had to admit she had a point there. “She seems to like Christmas fine then. Why don’t you guys celebrate it?”
Yaz shrugged. “Every time I ask her, she’d just say, ‘Everyone always does Christmas. Let’s do New Year’s!’ Since I like New Year’s too, I just go along with it.”
There was a bit of silence as both pondered what it all meant. Dan more so than Yaz.
“What’d you thinking?”
“That whatever happened the last time she celebrated Christmas, it was enough to swear her off of it.”
“Maybe. She tends to just repeat the same anecdotes. Whatever happened last Christmas must have been something pretty bad. “
Then the light bulb went off in Yaz’s head. It was definitely a risk, but if they could pull it off, it could be amazing.
“… So maybe we change that.”
“Change what?”
“Maybe we make sure that that isn’t her last Christmas memory.”
“You want us to…”
“Throw her a Christmas party!” she near shouted.
“Shh!”
“Sorry!” She quieted down.
But it couldn’t stop Yaz from excitedly striding around the hall. She couldn’t help herself. Why didn’t she think of this earlier? It seemed so obvious now.
“It’d be great! I can get decorations from around the Tardis and find a place to decorate.” She said before pointing directly at him. “You can find presents for her!”
“Yaz, I barely know her. What am I gonna get her?”
“I’ll let you know what to buy. I already have my ideas.”
Dan smirked. “I must admit. I’ve not seen you this excited since… well, I’ve not seen you this excited.”
“Trust me, Dan, we’re gonna give her the best Christmas ever!” ______________________________________________________________
The pair split off as Yaz bounded back into the console room. Their absences were not unnoticed, however.
“You two were a long time in there.” The Doctor said, looking up from her work.
“Were we? I hadn’t noticed.”
“Seem pretty excited too. What’s up?”
“Nothing.”
“Nothing?”
“Nothing. We were just chatting and didn’t want to disturb you.”
“Hmm..”
She then hammered a piece of the console, which was enough to get Yaz to jump. The Doctor noted she was acting weird and wanted to probe more into that.
“Something about Christmas I heard.”
“Just that… he’s gonna be heading home to celebrate. He’ll let you know when he’s ready to go. Shouldn’t be too long from now.”
“Aww. Was really looking forward to the beach visit.” She said, not able to hide her disappointment.
“Yeah, I.. what beach visit?”
“I’d had a plan of taking you two to a beach planet to just relax for a bit. We all need some R&R, to be honest. “
“Well, we could always still go into the swimming pool.”
She shook her head. “Wouldn’t be the same, would it?”
“No..”
“We can go after he comes back. We could do with some time in one place for a bit.”
“Maybe we can finally have that talk too..” Yaz remarked under her breath, audible enough for the Doctor to hear her.
“Yaz..”
“You told me you’d tell me everything.”
“I know. I just..” she said, placing her hand on Yaz’s shoulders. “I wanna do it right and in someplace special..”
“Promise?”
“Promise.” She said with a smile.
But the moment was then interrupted by the loud beeping of the Tardis.
“What? What are you talking about?”
More beeps followed.
“In my room?!”
“What’s wrong?”
“The Tardis is being a COW… and she seems to have done some redecorating in my room, even though I explicitly said not to!” She angrily shouted before turning to Yaz.
“Sorry, I-“
“I get it. Sort it out.” Yaz comforted her, offering a smile.
The Doctor took off with a sprint, nearly running over Dan in the process as he entered the console room.
“I will! Hi Dan!”
“Hi… Doctor.” He managed to say as she zoomed past.
“Wonder what’s caused the Tardis to be like that.”
“Ahem..”
Yaz’s eyes widened as a grin grew on her face. “No!”
“Tardis and I came to a bit of an agreement.. I think. If I understood all those beeps correctly, she’ll distract the Doctor while we get everything prepared. “
“Great!“
“So where’s the room you’re gonna decorate?”
“You don’t worry. I’ll handle that..”
_____________________________________________________________
And the perfect plan fell into place. Yaz briefed Dan on exactly what he needed to get as he tried to keep track of what she wanted. Eventually, she just wrote a list and sent him on his way. She rushed over to the room and inspected it. It was small, but cozy. Nice enough for what she had hoped. If push came to shove, two of them could go on the floor while the other sat on a chair. She did not know exactly when the Doctor would be finished but she expected (hoped) that the Tardis would do her a big favor here. After everything the Doctor had gone through since the Flux, this would at least be enough to finally let her relax and calm down.
Eventually, after tirelessly working at it (with some Tardis help), she got it done. Although her clothes didn’t escape the battle unscathed, as she noticed paint, bits of a Christmas tree and even glitter on her shirt and pants. She was annoyed, but it could be cleaned. As she strode out into the hall, she met up with Dan again.
“Hey, Yaz, I… what happened to you?”
“Getting everything ready wasn’t as… clean as I thought it’d be. I’ll change in a minute. I-“
She then noticed that Dan was dressed in a nice jacket, a Liverpool shirt, and jeans. A good look on him, but not quite the dress she wanted for their mini party.
“Why are you dressed like that?”
“…. I’m going home to celebrate Christmas with me parents.” He sheepishly admitted, with his hands behind his back.
“But the party here!-“
“Will go on without me easily.”
“Look. After everything with the Flux, I don’t know how much time I have with them. I don’t wanna waste it.. Besides, you guys are better off celebrating without me, anyway. It’s you two who never got a Christmas together. We had ours during the Flux.”
“Yeah but-“
He rubbed her hair before smiling at her. “I dropped the presents off in your room. Got it as close to what you wanted. Send the Doc my Christmas greetings. “
And with that, he took his leave headed out. Despite her disappointment, Yaz couldn’t stop now. So she headed to her room and picked up the gifts before dropping them off at the intended place. Now came the important bit… ______________________________________________________________
Knock ,knock, knock
“Is it safe to come in?…” Yaz said from the outside.
“It is now. Finally.”
Once she stepped inside, everything seemed pretty normal. The Doctor’s room was as she remembered seeing it the few times she was in there. What was different was that its main inhabitant was looking less than pleased, tired and worse for wear.
“Three hours of rearranging, bargaining and then begging with the Tardis, but I eventually got it back to normal.”
“You look shattered. “
“You’re not looking too hot either.” The Doctor noticed. “What were you doing?..”
“Uhh.. same as you, redecorating my room.”
“Well, I hope she was much nicer to you than she was to me.” The Doctor said as she sighed, sliding onto the floor. “I could really do with a cuppa right now.”
“Me too.” Yaz told as she extended her hand to the Doctor who duly took it. “Come on.”
And so they got their cuppas, but instead of heading to the console room, Yaz took a detour, much to the Doctor’s confusion.
“Where are we going?”
“I just need your advice on something. Something important.”
“Sure. Anything.”
She pulled her along as they slowly made their way towards the room. The nondescript door gave nothing away, to the real surprise inside. Yaz stood at the side giddily, confusing the Doctor even more.
“Yaz… what’s going on?”
“Step inside and you’ll find out.” She said with a smile.
So she did… ------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The Doctor’s eyes widened as she fully stepped inside, being greeted instantly by the sweet aroma of custard creams. The walls were painted pink, freshly done too. There was a fireplace that seemed to spout fireworks rather than actual fire. The mantle contained stockings, a card that looked like it was from Yaz to Dan, a Liverpool FC snow-globe, and above those… two blue hearts.
Next to those were photos. Photos she had taken of and taken with Yaz. Below those were her camera and her globe, the same one she remembered spinning with Yaz the other day. There was also a purple chair with a blanket and a… Pting and a rabbit. She assumed that’s what those two leads were for. She’d ask about those later.
And lastly, a purple mat which housed a rather lovely Christmas tree, two presents and a plate of custard creams and some juice below it. And the star topper was one that had ten points inscribed on it, similar to the sticker she had bought for Yaz recently as well.
To say the Doctor was in shock would be an understatement. All that seemed to move was her head as she tried to keep track of everything she had seen.
Yaz, however, had expected glee and shouting and excitement. So the silence she was getting was worrying her, as she turned away from the Doctor.
Had she gone too far? Should she just have respected the Doctor’s boundaries and not planned all this? Part of her just wanted to walk out right now and forget this ever happened.. Maybe it was a waste. Maybe she thought she knew the Doctor but once again didn’t. Maybe she..
“Yaz… this is one of the greatest things anyone has ever done for me.”
Yaz slowly turned towards her, and couldn’t help but tear up herself at the waterworks coming from her friend currently.
“.. Really?”
“Really really.”
“Well, it’s from Dan and me. He bought the presents, and I decorated here, but we-“
The Doctor interrupted her as she rested her cup down and did the same with Yaz’s, before she firmly pulled Yaz in for an embrace. Both women simply enjoyed the warmth of each other, not caring about their current attires. But once they released from each other, the Doctor couldn’t help but notice the bits of the tree and glitter now stuck on her.
“Seems like you’ve left your mark on me.” The Doctor giggled, which Yaz was quick to copy.
“Maybe so.”
“I think we should really get cleaned before we come back here.”
“Agreed.”
Little did they know that they’d have appropriate attire waiting for them as they’d finished. A small treat from the Tardis.
Two showers later, and the Doctor quickly got back into the room. Clad in a nice blue sweater with some blue pattered pajama bottoms, she opted to finish it off with her scarf, a lovely gift from Yaz all those years ago. The woman in question soon arrived as well. And her own attire would catch the Doctor off guard once again.
“That’s…”
“Your shirt, yeah. Well, a sweater version. Guess the Tardis made it for me.”
“Along with the scarf?”
“This? Nah, I made this myself.”
“I didn’t know you knitted!”
Yaz couldn’t help but laugh at her enthusiasm. She was like a kid sometimes.
“Yeah, I started it as a thing to keep me occupied when I was with Dan and Jericho, and it just kept going and going. Finished this a few days ago.”
“Well, I think you’re very talented. It looks really cute.”
“Thanks..” Yaz blushed.
“And you do too.”
Yaz’s blush went even deeper as the Doctor soon followed suit.
And so the night continued, both women enjoying the fruits of this labor of love. Despite taking some convincing (there was an agreement to keep them in a special room afterwards), the Doctor warmed to the two pets that the Tardis trio now seemed to have.
The pair talked all night long, not wanting to focus on any problems or arguments or secrets. Just wanting to live in the present of what they had, while they still had it. With help from the Tardis, Yaz could even get her knitting needles as she made a scarf for the Doctor this time.
Refilled cup in hand, the Doctor’s eyes fell onto Yaz’s as she stopped knitting. It seemed as if time had stopped in its tracks. Both women couldn’t wipe the smiles from the faces even if they wanted to (and they did not want to). Neither cared about the red blushes they currently adopted either. Everything was solely about being in this one moment and just being with each other.
“We should do this every Christmas.” Yaz finally said, warmly smiling.
“I’d like that, very much.” The Doctor answered, tearing up.
“Are those tears for me, big-head?”
“Yeah. Yeah, they are.” She laughed as tears continued to trickle down her face. “Because every Christmas…is last Christmas…”
“Merry Christmas Doctor.”
“Merry Christmas Yaz.”

Never too late.
A/N: I hope you enjoy!! I have not proofread this so i apologise in advance!! 💕💕
Summary: Tom messed up a long time ago but can he fix it?
Warnings: Swearing.
W/C: 4.2K.
When Isabelle had asked you to be her maid of honour you took the role immediately, wanting to be there for your best friend. It wasn’t until a few days later that you realised who you may have to interact with throughout the planning and on the day. You were currently getting coffee with Isabelle when the question slipped from your mouth, you hadn’t meant to spoil the atmosphere as you discussed flower arrangements.
“So, um, who did Haz pick as best man?” The question came out before you could stop it. Isabelle carefully placed her coffee down and looked at you with a sad smile.
“I was gonna tell you Y/N/N, I’m sorry.” She said, confirming that it was indeed the man you’d hoped it wasn’t.
“I’m sorry, I shouldn’t have asked.” You apologised, guilt settling in your stomach as she reached over and took your hand in hers.
“No, I should have said. I just, well I don’t know, it’s been what? Three years? I thought you’d have gotten over it, no offence.”
“We never had closure, we just argued and that was it. We haven’t spoken since.” You shrugged and Isabelle smiled sadly again.
“Did you want it? Closure?”
“Not at first but then every time I saw him afterwards just brought it all back up, brought up how much I loved him and how much it hurt when we ended things.” You said as you bit your lip, sadness now settling in your chest. It wasn’t often you spoke about Tom, you couldn’t, every time it would make you cry and you could never explain why.
“Y/N?” Isabelle asked quietly and you looked at her, telling her to continue. “Are you? Do you still have feelings for him?” She asked and you shrugged before finishing your now luke warm beverage.
“I don’t think so, like you say it’s been three years. I’ve always put it down to not getting closure.”
“Maybe talk to him? This would be a good opportunity, you’re going to have to see each other a lot.” She suggested and you shook your head.
“No, after the way we left things, I’m not sure that’d be a good idea. I’m not doing anything to ruin your big day, I’ll be civil, I promise.”
**
You were meeting Haz and Isabelle for a meal to discuss how they wanted the day to go, making your way into the restaurant. You knew he’d be there and you were already prepared for your mind to throw you back to that night but of course all the preparation meant nothing when your eyes fell on him. Your heart twisting as you swallowed thickly and made your way to the table, doing your best to stay composed and civil.
You’d seen Tom several times after the break up, you ran in the same circles, same friends and your respective best friends were getting married. You’d seen him but always managed to avoid him, this time you couldn’t. You exchanged pleasantries and sat down, zoning out as your mind wandered back to that night.
“You’re such a fucking dick Tom.” You huffed as you shut the door to your flat. Tom making his way into the living room.
“I’m here aren’t I?” He fired back, irritated, you’d already argued over text.
“After having to be reminded yeah.” You said and he rounded on you, eyes holding anger towards you.
“I forgot okay? I’m a human being. It’s perfectly human to forget things.” He snapped back. You wish he hadn’t come over now, wish you hadn’t have reminded him of your movie night you’d planned.
“This is the third date you’ve forgotten.” You pointed out and he huffed as he rolled his eyes.
“I’m busy, you know that.”
“So am I and I still turn up to things we’ve planned. Believe it or not Tom, I actually remember I’m in a relationship.” You said as you stormed past him and into your living room.
“Can you just drop it? I’m tired and I’ve had a long day, I’m here now.” He said following after you.
“Sure. I’ll drop it, I’ll just bring it up next time yeah?” You shouted and his nostrils flared as he crossed his arms over his chest.
“Stop being so difficult.”
“Difficult? Me? You’re the one who’s seemingly unavailable all the fucking time.”
“That’s not true. I make time for you.” Tom snapped out as he ran a hand through his hair.
“Bullshit. You used to, I’ll give you that but recently? It’s like you’d rather be anywhere else but here.” It was true that in the last month you’d hardly seen him.
“Maybe I do want to be elsewhere.” He shouted and your stomach dropped a little, it was different hearing it confirmed.
“What?” You asked a slight sadness to your voice but he was too angry to notice.
“You heard. You’re so needy and fucking irritating at the minute. It doesn’t matter what I do, you start a fight anyway.” He ranted and your heart stopped. Needy? Irritating?
“Well you’re hardly Mr fucking perfect.”
“You’re right I’m not. I’m fucking human. I know you want me to be this man who does nothing but put you first all the goddam time but that’s not always how situations work Y/N. I have a life outside of this relationship.”
“Yeah I get that, I do. But fuck Tom, I ask for one night of your time and you forget. Or is that even true? Is that you forgot or you just can’t be bothered?”
“You’re ridiculous. You know what? I don’t know if I can do this anymore?” What?
“What?”
“This, us. All we do is fight, I can’t do a single fucking thing that makes you happy. God damn Y/N, last week you got angry with me because I arrived a few hours later than I was supposed to. I would’ve understood had it not been for the fact that I got held up, my flight got delayed.”
“All you had to do was text, that’s all I wanted.” You said, sadness settling in your chest whereas Tom just seemed angry at the situation.
“I did! That’s why I was so fucking pissed off, it’s not my fault you never received it. What else could I have done?”
“Maybe you’re right.” You said.
“What?” Tom snapped out and you let your eyes brim with tears.
“Get out Tom.” You said.
“So I come over to get kicked straight back out, well fan fucking tastic.” He snapped with another roll of his eyes.
“No, I mean get out and don’t come back.” You said and Tom’s face fell.
“Wait, Y/N/N, are you,”
“Yeah,” you interrupted. “This isn’t working anymore, you’re right. Now can you please just leave?” You snapped as you looked at him, he looked at you hesitantly as if he was about to say something but he never did. He composed himself as huffed as he left with a slam of your flat door.
You’d always wondered what he was going to say, you knew he was going to. Maybe that’s why you found it so hard when you saw him, that wonder about what he would have said, would it have changed anything? Was he going to say something nasty, something to try and fix it? You never contacted one another afterwards, returning each other’s belongings through Isabelle and Harrison.
“Y/N/N?” Harrison asked as he waved his hand in front of your face, pulling you from your thoughts as you looked at him. “You okay?”
“Yeah, sorry. Long day.” You said, you could feel Tom’s eyes on you but couldn’t bring yourself to look at him.
“So, wedding guests.” Haz continued as he clapped his hands together. “You guys are gonna spend most of the day together.” He said as he gestured between you and Tom.
“If that’s okay?” Isabelle added as she looked at you with concern.
“Of course, it’s your wedding day.” You smiled as you tried to ignore the pounding in your head at the thought of having to spend an entire day interacting with the man across from you.
“Brilliant.” Harrison said, he knew you and Tom had ended on bad terms but probably assumed you’d both gotten over it. You wondered deep down if you had.
The dinner flew by and you couldn’t have rushed off to your house soon enough. Wanting to leave behind the awkward tension between you and Tom, maybe this was going to be harder than you first thought.
**
It was the day of the wedding and excitement was bubbling around the church. You were all made up in your bridesmaid dress, hair pulled up into an intricate style as you watched Isabelle pull on her wedding dress.
“You look beautiful.” You gasped as you handed her the bouquet of flowers. “If Haz doesn’t cry I think I might snatch you up for myself.” You joked and Isabelle smiled shyly. Her hair was pulled up into a bun, pins with diamonds twinkling under the lights, beautiful white wedding dress that fell elegantly around the floor.
“I’m nervous.” She admitted as she squeezed your hand.
“Don’t be. Harrison loves you, you’re gonna be so happy.” You said as you squeezed her hands back. A knock pulling you from your moment. It wasn’t long before Isabelle’s dad made an appearance, stopping as he saw his daughter.
“You look, oh my goodness, you look beautiful.” He said in awe as he embraced her, wiping at his eyes that were now full of tears.
“Thank you dad.”
“That boy has no idea how lucky he is.”
You followed her to the alter, her hand firmly grasping her father’s forearm as they linked arms. You were behind her as you made your way up the aisle, you couldn’t stop your eyes drifting to Tom and you watched as his widened, he was already looking at you. Harrison and Isabelle had made the decision to have the dress rehearsal but keep everyone’s attire a secret for the day, Tom hadn’t seen you in your bridesmaid dress.
The ceremony was beautiful, Harrison cried, well almost everyone cried as they watched the loving couple say their ‘I do’s’ and share their first kiss as a married couple. They made their way down the alter and you let out a shaky breath as Tom approached you, offering his arm out for you to take. You looped your arm through his as you plastered possibly the fakest smile you’d ever given.
“You look beautiful.” You heard Tom’s voice and you looked at him as you continued to follow Harrison and Isabelle. All bridesmaids now having been paired up with another of the groomsmen. Of course you and Tom had to pair up being in the positions you were.
“Thank you.” You said as you bit your lip and he gave you a small smile. You’d always been able to read Tom, always had a connection with him that was unexplainable. He seemed almost sad. He wasn’t giving off his usual vibe, not that anyone else would notice, he really is a good actor, just not good enough to fool you.
The lunch had gone really well, no hiccups, everything ran smoothly. The décor looked amazing, blue and white flowers decorating the table in beautiful glass vases in the middle of each table. You were sat next to Tom, making conversation with Tuwaine who was placed at your other side. The room falling into silence as the speeches started. Harrison’s was beautiful, Isabelle’s father’s just as much and now it was Tom’s turn. You wiped at your eye, the speeches having been so beautiful they’d brought tears to your eyes.
“I’m very happy to be here today and share this happy couples day with all of you. I am beyond grateful that you asked me to be such a huge part of it Harrison, being your best man has been and always will be an honour.” Tom started and Harrison smiled up at him.
“You just have to promise I’ll be your best man.” Harrison teased and Tom breathed out a laugh.
“Done. Your wife looks incredible I want to add, such a beautiful couple. I’ve known Harrison since we were kids and I let me tell you, I have an incredible amount of embarrassing stories involving this young man. Like the time he got so excited when we went bowling that he fell onto the alley, got a strike but of course it didn’t count. Or the time he got so angry playing golf that he threw a club at the floor and almost knocked himself out when it bounced back up.” Tom said which pulled a laugh from the room.
It did a strange thing to you, you were there that day he almost hit himself on the golf course, god knows how he’d done it. The memory of you and Tom laughing as Tom had his arms locked around your waist, you shook your head from the thoughts.
“I could go on but I’ll save his dignity.” Tom teased as Harrison flipped him off, Tom read the paper in his hands before stuffing it back into his pocket, you assumed he’d almost finished.
“I’ve always been jealous of Harrison in a way. He found something good and he kept hold of it, he fought for it and made sure he kept it. These guys have been through some tough times, they truly have and they’ve both seen the other side of it. Harrison has always been better than me when it comes to admitting fault, taking responsibility for his actions, something I’ve never been good at. Watching these two and how in love they are with each other has made me really think about myself as a person and all the stupid things I’ve done in life, the things I’ve lost through my own stubbornness. You really have taught me a lot about love and soulmates, I’m just glad you didn’t make the same mistake I did.” Tom said and you found yourself staring at him, as if he was the only person in the room.
Your eyes met Isabelle’s and she looked just as blown away as you did, Harrison looking up at his best friend with a knowing look. Tuwaine leant over and placed a handkerchief in your hand.
“Here, you’re gonna smudge your makeup.” He said and it only just occurred to you that you were crying, more than you had at any of the other speeches. Was he talking about you? You doubted it, he’s had plenty of girlfriends in the three years since you’d split. You only half listened as Tom finished his speech as he sat back down next to you, the room applauding him as they fell into their own conversations.
“That was,” you said as you cleared your throat. “That was really beautiful Tom.”
“Thank you.”
**
The wedding party continued on, it was now the evening do, the night drawing closer to the first dance, the last interaction you had to have with Tom and you felt nervous. The tension between the two of you thick after his speech, you weren’t sure if he felt it too and you had got it al wrong. Maybe you just wished he was talking about you, he clearly was referring to someone.
Tom took your hand in his as you joined the married couple in the first dance. Couples slowly joining as Tom placed his hands on your waist and you placed yours on his shoulders. To say you weren’t an actor you were doing well at hiding your feelings.
“You really do look beautiful.” Tom said, eyes finding yours.
“Thank you. You’re speech really was beautiful.” You always were one to give credit where it was due. He shrugged.
“Thanks, I read it online somewhere, I’m no good at writing that soppy shit.” He laughed and you breathed out a laugh. Oh.
It wasn’t long before you finished, Tom leaving you instantly and you missed being in his arms instantly. He disappeared most of the night, you only catching glimpses of him every so often.
“Y/N, you look beautiful.” Sam said as he joined you on the dancefloor.
“Thanks Sam.” You’d not seen him in a long time.
“How’d you like Tom’s speech?” He asked and you furrowed your brows, why was he asking you that?
“It was beautiful.” You admitted and Sam smiled.
“Yeah, I helped him write that.” He admitted. What?
“He said he got help online.” You said utterly confused.
“That’s bullshit.” Sam laughed. “I helped him write that whole thing. That part about being jealous of Harrison? Not what I helped him write, that was completely off script.” Sam said and you stopped your dancing as you looked at him.
“What?”
“Oh come on, that was completely pulled from his heart. You know Tom, that was completely unscripted.”
“Yeah, but he’s had a lot of girlfriends, why would I care?” You said and Sam burst into a fit of laughter at that.
“I thought you knew?” Sam said and you looked at him seriously.
“Knew what?”
“About Tom? About what happened on the stag do?” He said matching your seriousness.
“No?” You fished and Sam huffed.
“He was hammered okay. But he got all emotional and said some stuff about you.” Sam admitted and your furrow deepened.
“What did he say?”
“He regrets the way things ended. Regrets letting you go, said he wished he’d have stayed, told you how much you meant to him. Fought for you. Y/N, he was thinking about asking you to marry him.” Sam continued and your eyes blew wide at that.
“We were twenty-two Sam.” You said and he shrugged.
“We said that but he said it was irrelevant, he knew he’d found his person in you. He said he doesn’t think he’ll ever love anyone like he loved you, he’s tried.” Sam informed you. “I honestly thought someone had told you.” He said as he took in your shocked state.
“No.” You squeaked out.
“Y/N, he’s my brother and trust me, he’s an idiot at the best of times. But I know he loves you, it shocked all of us when he turned into an emotional mess over a relationship that ended three years ago. I think seeing you and the whole wedding put a lot into perspective for him.”
“But why now?” You asked and Sam looked at you seriously.
“Y/N, I think he realises this could have been your wedding. You were both young and stubborn and I stand by that fact but if things had turned out differently. If he’d stayed that night this could have been you and I think he’s realised that.” Sam said as he brought a hand to your cheek and wiped your tears out of your eyes. “Go find him. Talk to him.” He said and you realised you had to, after that revelation you had to. You owed it to the both of you.
“Thanks Sam.”
**
Half an hour it took you to find him, half an hour of running around looking for him until you eventually found the curly haired boy. He was on the roof, sat on the edge, looking out over the grounds of the manor house Harrison had booked for the wedding night. You had a room booked along with most of the guests.
Your heart was pounding as you let the door shut and your palms felt sweaty but your heart felt lifted at Sam’s revelation.
“I’m not so sure the best man is supposed to disappear.” You said and Tom snapped his head to look at you as you approached. Holding out a hand for you to take as you very carefully placed yourself next to him. The view was breathtaking, he’d always found comfort in the countryside, a complete juxtaposition to his life in cities.
“Probably not but I don’t think Haz will notice. I am planning on going back, just needed a breather.”
“Are you okay?” You asked seriously, you noted his slightly dampened mood all day.
“I never could get past you could I?” He asked with a breathy laugh.
“Nope.” You laughed in return and he smiled at you.
“Just thinking.” He admitted and you hummed.
“I spoke to Sam.” You said after a while and Tom sighed as his ran a hand through his hair.
“Figured it’d be him that told you. How much did he tell you?” Tom asked and you looked at him, admiring how beautiful he was and he really was, always had been.
“Everything, well I assume so. Is it true?” You asked and Tom looked back at you.
“Which part?”
“About the proposal thing?”
“Yeah.” He admitted and you furrowed your brows.
“Why’d you never come back? Say something?” You asked and Tom sighed.
“Because I was a fucking stupid child that’s why. Completely fucked up my chances with you.” Tom said and you nodded slightly in agreement with him, you weren’t blameless.
“Maybe not completely.” You said and Tom’s eyes widened.
“You mean?”
“I don’t think I ever really stopped loving you. I always thought it was closure I needed and then Sam said wat he said and I realised it was everything I wanted to hear. I tried to find the same connection with other men but I just couldn’t and I wondered if it was because I wanted closure with you. It took me until today to realise that deep down it was actually just you I wanted.” You said as a tear slipped from Tom’s eye and you were quick to catch it.
“I’ve never found that connection either. God, fuck, I’ve never loved anyone like I love you.” He said your heart soared.
“Still?” You asked and he nodded. “Me too.” You admitted and he smiled.
“I don’t deserve you.”
“You do. We deserve to be happy in life Tom and you made me so happy. The happiest I’d ever been.” You said. “I was difficult because I was so scared, scared that you’d leave me, find someone else. You got this whole knew life, you were Spiderman, meeting models, all these women I couldn’t compete with.”
“You were never in competition. It doesn’t matter how many other women I met, they were never you, they could never be you. They didn’t understand me like you did. Y/N, there was and is never gonna be anyone else like you.” You were both crying now, happiness surrounding you.
“What were you gonna say? That night?” You needed to know.
“I was about to get on my knees and fucking beg you to let me stay. My stubbornness got in the way, I thought you could do better, have someone who was there for you all the time. Someone who didn’t forget dates and keep you waiting.” He admitted before he continued. “But if I ever got a do over in life that’s where I’d go, I’d get on my knees and beg you to let me stay, let me keep you.”
“Oh Tom.” You sighed out and he smiled shyly as you leant your forehead against his.
“I should have tried, should have fought for you but I was an idiot. I didn’t realise how much so until it was too late.”
“It’s never too late Tom.”
“I hope not because I want you Y/N, I want you back.”
“Kiss me.” You practically begged and he complied, his lips finding your own. His arms slipped around your waist as he pulled you flush against him. Your hands finding his hair as you threaded your fingers though it. The kiss was sweet but fiery, a kiss of two lovers reuniting as he pulled away and his lips found your neck as he kissed it, you moved your head to give him more access.
“I love you.” He said as he peppered his kisses back up to your lips.
“I love you Tom.” You returned as you deepened the kiss. Missing the way he felt, loving the way you molded against him and the amount of passion behind the kiss, something you’d not experienced in almost three years. No man had ever ignited you the way Tom did.
“Oi, oi! I fucking knew it.” You heard screamed from far below you as you both pulled apart and looked down at Harrison. He was outside smoking a cigarette and he’d obviously caught you both.
“Piss off.” Tom laughed back down as you placed your head on his chest and laughed.
“Izzy, baby, we don’t have to pull that bullshit about double booked rooms, you can let your cousin know there’s a free room.” Harrison shouted in his wife’s direction and you and Tom laughed.
“Wanna go back in princess?” Tom asked and you nodded as he stood before making sure you got up safely. “I owe you a proper dance.”

Money Troubles
Kuroo x reader, Bokuto x reader
Words: 1,8k
Warnings: none
Summary: Reader has money troubles and the boys are so sweet about it
A/n: Y’all this hits so close to home like I grew up really poor for a long time and if that is where you are right now, please know that things do get better and it is all going to be okay :)
Kuroo
You and Kuroo had been friends forever and just recently made the jump from best friends to lovers and it honestly didn’t change much, except how often the two of you went out. Kuroo was always taking you out places and spoiling you rotten but you knew that you couldn’t do the same. There was no way that you could afford half of the things that he can but you have no idea how to tell him that. Every time he spends money on you you feel super guilty and bad because you can’t spend the same amount back on him and you had got him a nice gift for Christmas but that is just because you saved every last dollar to spoil him as best you could. He was your best friend and you didn't want him to have to worry about any of this but you also didn’t want him to think that you were cheap or taking advantage of him.
The issue dwelled in your mind for weeks, you were unsure of what to say or do because you both had never gone out this often before. Tonight was your turn to choose what your date would be and you had made the easy decision, the only decision.
“So what will it be, princess?” Kuroo smirked at you from across the kitchen as he made himself a glass of water.
“Can we stay in and watch the show, Bridgerton, I’ve heard the most amazing things about it,” you smile at him trying to be convincing.
“Are you sure you don’t want to go out?” He questions as he refills his glass. It was almost a week before your next payday and you had $6 left so you really couldn’t afford to go out.
“I think staying home sounds like fun,” you lie, it’s been a stressful week and you knew he could see right through you so you avoided his curious gaze.
“Y/n, love, what is it?” He questions, unsure of your reasoning, “it was your pick and if that’s what you want to do we can go to the store and get snacks and make it a hell of a date night” he reasons with himself.
“No Kuroo that’s really okay,” you barely whisper.
“Hey, what is it?” He now is right by your side giving you the biggest puppy dog eyes.
“It’s nothing Tetsuro,” you shy away.
“If it was nothing you’d be looking at me and told me that you wanted to go try that new Indian restaurant down the street, please y/n,” he says in a calm, loving way.
“You’re right, I would like to try it, but I can’t afford it Kuroo.”
“Why would you think that you’re paying?” He asks, smiling at you.
“Because you always pay, and I always feel bad because I don’t ever pay, and it’s not fair,” you huff at him.
“Y/n Y/l/n I pay because I can pay and because I want to pay and because I know you would never treat yourself to a nice meal even if you did have the money, which by the way is not something you should be embarrassed of. I spent the first two years of our friendship absolutely broke at all times, I slept on Bo’s couch for god sake and you have to be really desperate to do that. Trust me when I tell you that it’s okay, it gets better and once it does then you can bet your ass that I’m still paying for our dates because I have been waiting years to date you and now that I am I am going to spoil the shit out of you, okay? Okay. So get your ass dress we’re getting indian, end of discussion.”
You had no idea what to say or do, he really just said to hell with it and left the room to get ready so you were stuck sitting there alone with your thoughts. ‘How the hell did he know?’ You panicked, worried that this was why he decided to ask you out and date you and that he was going to get sick of you and sick of paying and want to leave.
“I am ordering two meals with or without you so get your ass ready or I’m gonna eat them both” Kuroo mumbles as he brushes his teeth.
You get ready and go out to dinner with him and have an amazing time laughing and eating together. A couple weeks after Kuroo gives you a little wrapped box with your name on it. It was a key to his house with your initials engraved on it.
“Y’know if you ever want to come over, or even” he is blushing a deep red, “or even, I know it’s early, but I’ve known you forever and I can’t see us ever I don’t know, breaking up, so unless you do, I mean, it would be kinda cool if we lived together.”
You sat there in complete shock, did Kuroo just ask if you wanted to move in with him?! You gave him the biggest smile ever as you nodded at him completely speechless.
“But you have to bring your furniture, it’s wayyy nicer than mine and we had our first kiss on that couch so it has to come too.”
And little did you know not only did you move in now mean that you live with your best friend 24/7 but you also don’t grocery shop and your rent is way cheaper because he’s lived there forever. He never once judged or made you feel bad for not being able to pay for things and if he was ever strapped for cash as well you had the best stay in movie nights ever.
Bokuto
Bokuto was a smart guy, sometimes. He may have his dumb moments but he always knew how much he spent and kept a good and accurate budget so he got to live a pretty care free life (it also doesn’t help that he got a volleyball scholarship that paid for his college and you have $500 a month payments) , you on the other hand weren’t as fortunate. It seemed as though all of your money was gone before you even got your check, between food, rent, phone bill, loans, and everything else that came with being alive your little paychecks seemed to dwindle down to nothing. It was something you wanted to change, and luckily you only had a couple months left on your loans because you chose to aggressively pay them off but you wish you didn’t sometimes so you could have a little bit more to spend on life and on Bokuto, you’re adorably loving boyfriend.
It was a day like every other, the two of you out and about doing dumb things around town when you decided to go to Starbucks together. You were extra excited to get apeppermint mocha and Bo was practically vibrating with excitement-and that’s before you give him caffeine. You get up to the counter and order before inserting your card… ‘decline’ the screen reads. You have no idea what to do and your face blushes a bright red.
Without hesitation Bo steps in front of you, orders his drink and pays for your drinks before you can even process anything. He turns and smiles at you and gives you a little kiss and wraps his arms around your shoulders as you go to wait for your drink to be done.
“Bo, I’m sorry, I didn’t realize-“
“Shhh look she’s adding the whip to your drink,” he bounces excitedly hoping that means his drink is next.
You get your drinks and go sit in those giant brown chairs that are the best and most comfortable spot in the entire place and you once again try and thank him for paying for your drink and explain but he stops you again.
“Y/n, lovey, it happens to all of us, okay? Don’t worry about it, seriously. I know you overthink things like this and I don’t want or need you to. We all do it sometimes and it is okay, hell I did it last week at the store, it happens, I’ve got you now and always, so don’t stress yourself out about it. You have a lot to pay for and a lot going on so I don’t want you worrying about the small things when there are lots of bigger things that need your attention, like me. I need your attention and so having you focus on other things is bad for me and my ego, okay?” He smiles at you after one of the most uncharacteristic moments from him ever.
You just stare at him completely in shock that he just said all of those things to you.
“Ummm helllo earth to y/n,” he repeats two or three times as he waves his hand in front of your face.
“Sorry bo.”
“Can I pleaseee have a sip of your drink? I asked like four times but you were in outer space thinking about the stars or something, but that’s okay, you’re back on earth now, please can I have a sip, it looks so good,” he smiles at you, knowing that you were worrying about it and doing the perfect job of pulling you out of whatever trance you were in.
You let him have a sip of your drink and you get a sip of his (which was even more delicious than anything you’d ever had there). Bokuto continued the conversation and pretty much held up the whole thing and made you laugh the whole time.
The following couple of weeks you noticed that Bo was super helpful and sweet about everything financial and when you finally paid off your student loans he threw you the biggest “college is too expensive” party and celebrated life with you so much. Even after things got better for you he still was happy to pay for a lot of things and even admitted to you that he has been super duper broke too and it is just what happens in life, it happens to all of us and if he finds out that you have been worrying about it than he is going to come and cuddle you to death because he can’t stand the idea of you getting upset over nothing. (Even though he does it all the time, you are different because he wants you to always be happy)

So I’ve been kinda dancing around my original story idea for a little while, and I got this idea in my head of ‘what if I release chapter 1 and then get feedback without telling anyone what the story is about first so it’s more of a surprise?’ But honestly? I’m realizing since I already released a preview-of-a-preview for chapter 1, and it might be a little while until I finish chapter 1, plus I honestly kinda feel like I’d rather work on sketches of my character designs than write at the moment, I might as well go ahead and tell you guys. X’3
So! I watched a couple anime recently both centered around the premise of... monster girls! These being Monster Musume and Monster Girl Doctor, but then I noticed there’s also Interviews with Monster Girls, A Centaur’s Life, and the infamous Interspecies Reviewers, and I asked myself... Monster girls are pretty popular right now, yeah? But where’s all the monster boys?! And that’s how I got the idea! I re-watched some of my favorite anime based on Otome Games, Kamigami no Asobi and Uta no Prince Sama for inspiration as well, and a few ones I hadn’t seen before like Dance with Devils and Magic-kyun Renaissance for inspiration as well.
So now I’ve got my premise that I shared earlier: This is the story of Millie, a young woman down on her luck who happens to live in a world where monsters aren’t just real, but commonplace. She started working as a maid in a mansion-turned-art-school whose students are a group of very attractive monster boys. The twist is that these aren’t just any monster boys; they belong to various rare and exotic species with deadly reputations...
Note that character and place names are technically place-holders for now and may change if I come up with better ones. Now, I don’t wanna spoil anything story-wise, but I think I can introduce my setting and some of the characters that you’re gonna meet. The story is set in a modern setting, though it’s vague if it’s actually Earth or just some generic world similar to it, as I try to avoid referencing real-world places or events. This is a world where humans and monsters live together after a Great Interspecies War happened in the past, but tensions have mostly relaxed by the time the story takes place. The war could be thought of as the equivalent of our own World War One, one in which there was a truce decided after many years of stalemate fighting.
The city everything takes place in is tentatively named Dullahan, and was built directly after the war to commemorate peace between human and monster kind. It’s considered an artistic cultural center, and it’s got a lot of interesting entertainment places to go to, arcades, theaters, aquariums, etc, that the characters can have a lot of different shenanigans in. The other main setting is the Beaufort Academy of the Arts, which was actually a mansion that was converted into a small private school. This is where all the characters live, and our main character Millie works as a maid there.
Before I go into the characters, I should start with the various monster species. There are 12 species, divided into 2 groups: common monsters and exotic monsters. The common monsters are centaurs, harpies, lamias (snake people), kobolds (dog people), ogres, and merrows (mermaids). These species are all pretty standard, and will be mostly background characters and npcs. The main characters, and love interests for Millie, will be of the exotic variety: arachnes (spider people), sirens (deep-sea mermaids), mandrakes (plant people), dragons, manticores (with a liontaur body-type), and scyllas (octopus people).
So what differentiates a common monster from an exotic one? Well, while the Interspecies War was between humans and monsters in general, some monsters were already at least partially integrated into human society, and the rest followed soon after the war ended. These monsters were almost as common as humans, and either herbivorous or omnivorous, with the exception of the carnivorous lamias who prefer to eat eggs over anything else. On the other hand, the so-called ‘exotic’ species were not only much more rare, but they had a very different food preference... one which earned them the now derogatory nickname... man-eaters.
Naturally, most ‘man-eaters’ weren’t exactly welcomed into human --nor common monster-- society with open arms, not that most of them wanted to. For the most part, species as powerful and dangerous as them didn’t want to play nice with those they had once --and in some cases still do-- regard as prey, and so hid away into the furthest reaches of the world. Which of course makes them perfect material for all our leading men and Millie’s various love-interests!! Oh yes, while all of these monster boys are perfectly civilized --well, for the most part-- they still belong to species that many both human and monster alike continue to fear to this day. While they aren’t exactly fish out of water (well, except for the siren) there’s still plenty of awkward misunderstandings and interesting scenarios that can be played out.
So! Let’s have a quick run-down of the characters, keep in mind that none of these names are final and could change later on. First there’s Millie, a hardworking young woman who’s had a recent streak of bad luck. Through a misunderstanding she gets hired as a maid in a mansion-turned-art-school. She’s very sweet and tries her best to help others, but she’s not as innocent as she appears; she’ll understand your innuendos just fine, even if she doesn’t really say any herself! Next is Richard and Lara Beaufort, a husband and wife who run the school. Richard is rather laid-back, yet he’s also a master of all kinds of art, painting, sculpture, photography, dancing, singing, you name it! Lara is his arachne wife, a rather boisterous woman who owns a high-class fashion company. The secret to her clothing’s success?? Arachne silk, of course! The school was her idea, a way to help better integrate exotic species into society. Will her mission succeed? Only time can tell.
Richard and Lara have a son named Simon, our first love interest and a human-arachne hybrid who takes almost entirely after his mother in the looks-department (hybrids tend to look like one species or the other, rather than a mix of both). He’s a bit withdrawn due to dealing with bullying as a kid; most people --human and monster alike-- are afraid of his spider-like appearance, so he doesn’t get out much-- to the point his parents worry about him being a shut-in for life! He’s also a gamer boy, and has a secret soft side for gothic poetry, although he doesn’t want to join his parents’ art classes. He actually disapproves of his mother’s exotic species integration plan, as from what he’s experienced he feels it’s a waste of time.
Simon’s best friend and Millie’s second love interest is Louis, a mandrake who lives in the woods behind the manor. Louis is extremely shy and more than a bit lonely, even more so than Simon, and he doesn’t speak very often out of fear that the sound of his voice will hurt others around him. Mandrake screams can induce insanity or even kill those that hear them, hence his fear. Being part plant, Louis has mild shape-shifting abilities and is able to transform between child and young adult forms at will, although he’s actually the oldest of the group. He also isn’t a student at the art school, although he has an interest in floristry.
Now for our actual students! Forrest is a manticore, which in this world means he has a body similar to that of a centaur, but with the lower half of a lion instead of a horse, and a scorpion-like tail tipped with a deadly venomous stinger. Despite his species’s name literally meaning ‘man-eater’, Forrest is extremely friendly and cheerful, and is very sporty too. His passion is photography, and he also loves eating food-- any sort of meat dish is fine by him! He’s also a fan of fantasy tabletop roleplaying games, and will often make references comparing them to everyday life; he always plays the knight who saves the princess!
Anthony is a childhood ‘friend’ of Forrest’s, though he’s loathe to admit it. Highly intelligent and highly snobbish, Anthony fancies himself an intellectual-- and he’s not exactly wrong. Being a dragon, he likes to hoard things-- in his case, knowledge. Anthony loves to read, and is most often found in the library. His skill is in drawing and painting, and all his paintings’ invariably morose subject matter worry Millie. Still, this haughty dragon could definitely learn to loosen up a little, and be a little more kind; perhaps his stay at the academy --and his interactions with Millie-- will open his mind to appreciating the feelings of others. He does, at the very least, greatly respect Master Beaufort as a master of the arts.
The other two students are denizens of the sea, and have been friends for a very long time. Emil is a scylla, and like all scyllas he’s a little eccentric, and just can’t seem to keep his tentacles to himself! While Forrest is obsessed with eating, Emil’s true calling is cooking, and he loves making all kinds of dishes, especially anything seafood and/or foreign. Emil also is highly appreciative of women’s fashion, and absolutely adores everything to come from Madam Beaufort’s clothing brand-- so much so that he actually wears them himself! His pretty-boy looks and penchant for wearing women’s clothing actually has Millie mistake him for a girl at first, though he’s very much unafraid to show her his romantic side, or at least what he interprets as romantic...
Keeping Emil’s pervy antics in check is our sixth and final monster boy, Oswald! As a siren, Oswald spent most of his life in the sea, and still has a lot to learn about humanity. He’s a pretty cool guy but gets a bit embarrassed about his species’s troublesome past as the cause of many shipwrecks at sea, and would prefer to not discuss it. His passion is rock music, and his main instrument is the guitar. He also loves to sing, but refrains from doing so due to the hypnotic effect it has on other species. His lack of legs, tentacles, or a snake-like tail means that like other merrows and sirens he requires a wheelchair to move around on land, and often feels frustrated that he can’t show off how adept he is at traversing water. He’s also easy to embarrass and obsessed with not allowing anything to ‘ruin’ his manly image, including allowing Millie (a girl!) to help carry him around.
So there you have it, all my monster boys! I left out a few things, as those would be major spoilers, but those are my ideas for the characters for now! I’ll try to draw and post some sketches of their designs later. Hopefully I haven’t forgotten anything, but this won’t be the last time I talk about monster boys. Any questions or comments would be very much appreciated! Nsfw questions are allowed (all the boys wear pants for a reason, after all), though I’m currently not sure if this series will be 16+ or 18+, if you catch my meaning. Lemme know how interested you are in this story, or if you’re not interested please let me know that too!

many many anons under the cut bc i didn’t want anyone to feel like i was ignoring them and i wanted to respond to u all! warning for small text too, it was so long i wanted to make it look smaller fgbnjkgkjn
Anonymous asked: NAT... you can write WHATEVER you want! It's your blog, and I hope that rude anons can learn to respect that. I used to be on your blog just for jjba content too, so when you started getting into jjk I was indifferent but eventually you dragged me into jjk so hard!! I already like bnha, so seeing you write for it only made me happier! I hope that you continue to write whatever make YOU happy:) ❤and yes, longer fics certainly doesnt mean it's better, quality over quantity
ahh i’m happy that you are here for all three!! i always feel so accomplished when someone is like ‘your constant screaming made me think about jjk <3′. all three of the fandoms are fairly popular and i tag everything v carefully so i hope people who do use the filtering find that useful!!!
Anonymous asked: Goodness gracious. People really be out there thinking they're entitled to dictating what kind of content you should be making
i think part of it might be that i do take requests so people feel like they have like . . . a certain right to certain kinds of my content? i take requests mostly bc they keep me motivated, i like making content for ppl who cant find what they want bc i’ve Been There, but maybe people think i am a pushover? idk i am just trying to have a good time!!!
Anonymous asked: Hi. I only started following you a few days ago but please ignore that rude anon. People are so fucking entitled towards writers it's insane. I recently had someone throw a fit for "spoiling" something in my fanfic, even though the fic was about a manga-exclusive character, so what did they expect?? Overall I've really enjoyed your writing so random assholes coming to guilt you is just a shitty thing that happens. Keep going with what you wanna do.
ah gosh anon i’m sorry about that :(. i’m always super careful tagging spoilers and stuff but like, if someone clicks on a fic about say, naoya or the steel ball run boys and is mad that i spoil something they havent found out yet . . . yeah thats on them fgbnkjgfkjn
Anonymous asked: That...that anon had the nerve to say "we". The fuck?! No no no anon, YOU'RE the only one talking and you're just talking for yourself, don't you dare try and lump us other anons/followers up with you to make yourself look like you're right. We love you nat and we appreciate you. It's your blog, you're allowed to write about whoever and whatever. This brain dead anon just needs to either go read someone else if they're that salty or write their own stuff if they're that impatient.
gosh i WISH some of my mad anons would just write their own stuff honestly. idk if this anon thought they were talking for everybody but i guess they expected anons to agree with them and not be mad at them. i appreciate u anon ;_;
Anonymous asked: Just want to say that ily and you’re one of the best jojo fanfic writers in my opinion 💗 I don’t think you’re half assing jojo fics and there’s absolutely nothing wrong with you being multi fandom. A lot of jojo blogs have started posting about jjk so it’s not as if you’re the only one. I’m not sure why you get hate like this but I think it’s just because you’re one of the popular writers and that makes people bitter for whatever reason. Keep being you and posting about the things that make you happy 💕
honestly after so long writing for jojo - i’ve written well over 200 jojo reader insert fics - sometimes it feels like i’m retreading stuff, and that’s when i take a break bc i dont wanna half-ass stuff!!! i love all of my fellow jojo friends who are posting about jjk too, i appreciate them <3.
Anonymous asked: Hey my dude, ur writing has really grown since the jojo days and its better and awesome seeing u become happier to branch off and write in different fandoms 🤌🤌 those stupid anons are just boring farts that couldnt be bothered making their own content 😤😤 is it possible to block them to ease ur mind?
hello anon!! i run a statcounter for IPs but it doesnt always work for ppl who access through the tumblr app, i don’t think; a lot of the anon hate i get i just use the ‘block’ option, but last night got to me because i’ve been getting that kind of writer a lot which is . . . a bad look for the jojo fandom who are, as a whole from the ones i’ve interacted with, lovely!!! <3
Anonymous asked: People often forget, the person behind art or writing, is just another regular fan. You deserve to be happy with what you create and we should be thankful you share your talent with us. You also have right to change your main interests, and it's very normal thing. Jojo is one of the MANY things that you write for and all you get from that is a like or share. Its not your job. It's your fun thing to do, in spare time. You haven't betrayed anybody. That person was just rude, selfish and bored.
i am just a person doing my best!!! anime fanfic is one of many interests i have and i already devote a lot of time to it honestly, i love when people tell me they’ve enjoyed something i made bc it makes it feel worthwhile but equally it gets to me a lot when people are rude because i am usually trying my hardest.
Anonymous asked: Bro that jjba anon... the entitlement🤮 Fam, you write whatever you want to write😤 -Saturday
dfnjbkjnkgf i find most fic readers are NOT entitled at all and are just grateful but when they are . . . oof.
Anonymous asked: It's funny how people throw "we got you popular" and they think you start apologize and cry. Your writing and passion made you gain few numbers on a follow counter, nothing more. I think I'm too old for stuff like this, we are nothing more, but +1 on a number scale. You ow us nothing, we ow you nothing. Popular... Funny word. You just write for fun of it, fake scenarios about someone's manga characters. It's not that deep. Have fun and don't listen to people like this. I knew it's not that easy, but they are really not that important as they think they are.
extremely fun fact for people who think ‘popularity’ is important to me: i would 100% rather have 10 people who regularly comment, reblog my fics with tags and interact with me than 100 people who read my fic and either leave a like or simply move on. i think this is true for the VAST MAJORITY of writers tbh. i’m glad that people think i am a ‘popular’ blog (i am not in the grand scheme of things, one of my ex-best friends used to run a kpop reader insert blog with like 30,000 followers) bc it gives me an ego boost lmao, but i really just want people to read and enjoy the stuff i write!!!
Anonymous asked: I followed you a while ago for jojo and when my friends started getting into jjk i was like...eh sounds like work...but now that I see you writing for it I feel really motivated to get into it!!! I really enjoy your writing and I want to be able to read the new stuff too!
ah anon i really hope you like it!!! it’s only one season rn if u wanna watch the anime and there isn’t too much of the manga to catch up on either but it is a lot of fun and it’s nice to be in a fandom that’s like, excited about a new chapter and new plot developments every week!
Anonymous asked: Pls dont reply if u dont want to! <3 I'm not sure if this will be of any help to you or not but this is the kind of thing that often helps me and is the only way I know to try comfort others so I wanted to give it a go~
Now im not gonna say 'dont feel bad pls' bc I know that's not really useful but what I do think is useful is just discussing why that anon and many others feel the need to respond that way. As someone who follows a lot of writing blogs myself and have done for a long time, i've seen my handful of favourite writers come and go for different reasons, lose motivation for a while, gain motivation for a while, go from multi to single fandom, or single fandom to multi. Often times as a reader it can be upsetting when things change but it's also important as a reader to understand that some things aren't in anyone's control, I can't control what my favourite writers become a fan of or lose interest of, I can't control things in their personal lives that may motivate or demotivate them to write, but what I can do is support them as long as they're active, and if they move on to do things i'm no longer interested in or i'm the one that changed interests, rather than being upset that they're evolving to do other things or that they're not evolving with me, I think it's important that I still feel thankful for the works that I enjoyed while we were still on the same page and this is how I personally deal with those negative feelings. I think the anons that lash out at you probably just dont know what to do with themselves, maybe they got attached to your works while you were still only a jjba blog and now that you're evolving they're upset, while I understand how they feel, they're going the completely wrong way about it. I've learned to take these things and turn them into something positive for myself or at least something bittersweet that I can move on from but the anons that lash out at you for whatever reason probably haven't learned this yet. Maybe it's because i've moved on and changed interests a lot myself that I know how these things go for both writers and readers but those anons maybe haven't experienced this as much so they dont know what to do with themselves other than complain that you've changed and throw insults at you in an attempt to get you to revert back. None of this is because of the quality of your writing like they want you to believe, it's literally just because you've evolved and while some of your old followers might not like the new content for no reason other than it not being their cup of tea, it's definitely not regressed at all. You are pumping out a lot of content right now but every single thing i've read has just been better than the last. Things that really stand out to me is how well you get characterisation down to a T and all of your dialogue is just on point and from the pov of a reader I think those things seem the hardest to get right so I am such a huge fan of your stuff at the moment and I can tell you're really putting so much thought and care into each and every fic no matter how fast you're producing it, I think the fact that you're also proud of what you're writing at the moment really shines through as well and I just adore the passion that radiates from every completed request as well as in the responses for the subsequent thirsts resulting from these works that appear in your ask box later (I know i've sent quite a few by now~)
Just to be clear i'm not defending those anons in any way, while I can understand what they might be feeling/why they're reacting in the way they are I still believe it's just so immature to be hateful online point blank. Even during a time where I still got upset with writers if they started doing something else I still never targeted that negativity directly to the writer and sending rude or hateful comments whether on anon or not never something i'd stooped low enough to do even when I still had an immature way of thinking, however, I hope that it might make it a little easier to brush them off if we try and understand what they're really upset about, and that they're just putting the blame for their negative feelings onto the wrong thing rather than coming to terms with change themselves.
hello anon!! i appreciate the long message. i do feel bad for people who have no interest in what i’m currently producing and i get that they feel upset about it; i’ve watched a lot of fellow jojo writers move on completely or just stop posting, honestly. this kind of thing is why i was so intense about asking people if it would be better if i made a separate blog but the resounding answer seemed to be ‘i’m just vibing with whatever happens and i’ll block tags as needed’.
i often return to works by my favourite reader-insert writers who no longer write for the fandoms i like (and i read stuff bc it sounds interesting or i trust the person who writes it), but change can be difficult and i guess at this point i’ve - whether u like me or not lmao - been a fixture in jojo reader-insert tumblr for a While so it’s probably kind of jarring.
anyway i really appreciate you and the nice words! <3
Anonymous asked: hi nat! I just wanted to pop in and say that regardless of what fandom you write for, the love and care you pour into your writing and into interacting with followers who care about your work as well is really obvious. you're doing this for FREE and people should appreciate what you've given us so far, since ultimately this blog should be for you, whatever that means to you at any point in time. it's ok to jump fandoms! the important thing is that you feel good about what you're producing and that it makes you happy. everyone else is just a bonus - but, seeing you on my dash certainly makes me happy : ) I hope you feel better soon!
thank you anon! i’m feeling much better and happier today. birthdays are very difficult for me (i did not think i’d be alive at eighteen, much less 25!) so this event is definitely kind of a way for me to concentrate on something else, and i’m a little bit extra sensitive atm. i appreciate you so much, thank you for the kind words!!! <3
Anonymous asked: Hello! I just wanted to say, write what YOU want and make YOUR writings as long as you'd like. 💖 To the anon who is like "We mAdE yOu FaMoUs dOnt HalF asS iT" stfu, let people do what they wanna do. If you think they half do it, write something better and longer you asshat.
this is an open invitiation to that anon to send me a link to their writing blog and i’ll hype them up i promise <3
Anonymous asked: nat i'm so so sorry about that ask please know that your older followers don't share the same opinion :( sometimes people forget about the living, breathing person behind the screen smh. you are not a machine. you absolutely should not restrict yourself to posting about one fandom forever. yes, we're first pulled in by your amazing content, but we stay for your wonderful personality and work ethic. please just keep being you, taking up projects you feel comfy with! <333 bless u
ahh thank u anon! unfortunately i actually am a writing robot, i’m sorry u had to find out this way. my jojo chip has been removed, please send it back so i can continue to not half-ass my jojo work. fgnjkbgjkfn thank you so much angel!!! i appreciate you ;_;.
Anonymous asked: i don’t think it’s fair for other people to say shit about what you choose to write about because on tumblr and other writing platforms, writers are constantly developing how they write and the fandoms that they write for. it’s not fair for someone to criticize that “you don’t care about jjba blah blah blah” because you can enjoy new shows/manga. and like you said you’ve grown so much!! proud of you nat and im glad that ive been able to read your works (sincerely other nat)
i am STILL waiting for you to come and fight me other nat fgnjkbnf. it’s nice to be enjoying different things! i am constantly learning new things and reading new works and making new friends and improving and i think that’s important. i do care about jjba - a lot! but i can care about other things too! <3
Anonymous asked: I may not be one of your oldest followers, but i've been here for almost 3 years. Yes, i started following u for ur jojo content, but let me tell u, ur newfound motivation and enthusiam for other fandoms was honestly contagiuos for me. And i say this as a person who finds very difficult to move from one interest to another. Jojo is great, but so are other fandoms. Please don't let some faceless scum rob u that motivation. This is ur blog and u r always free to write whatever u want.
honestly, i have been there! i am autistic and i have special interests and watching other people move on to stuff i’m not vibing with has made me sad in the past, but i want people to be happy more than anything and sometimes that means new things and change! <3
Anonymous asked: Hi Nat! I saw that rude anon message & I just wanted to pop in & say that they're wrong. You're not betraying anyone & you should write whatever it is you want to write. I followed you for jojo & I'm not familiar with the other fandoms that you write for, but personally it makes me SO happy to see you enjoying new things! It's always good to find joy wherever you can, so keep writing what you're interested in. There a lot of ppl who want to see you happy and healthy <3
honestly the idea of it being a GRAND BETRAYAL is so funny, i am just writing anime fanfic here and thriving!!! tysm anon! <3
Anonymous asked: Those anons can piss off! They have no right to judge how long or how short your writing is. If they want longer content write it their damn selves. I think your writing has improved wonderfully and I originally followed for Jojo and I'm enjoying all the content period. I don't even watch jujutsu ( not my cup of tea personally) but I love seeing the creativity and the interactions. You write what makes you happy Nat and that's on that! You don't owe anybody anything! I know how hard writing is and when your consuming new content it's hard to make content for something else. That doesn't mean you don't like it any more your just doing something different for a while. Love you and your content and I'm enjoying the love your putting into your content whether long or short. ♥♥💕 Sending love your way!
honestly my idea of ‘short content’ is still over 1k words, i’m not good at reeling myself in! i guess it’s bc they see like, 1.5k jojo fic versus 5k jjk fic but it’s not that i didn’t enjoy the first fic, just that the point and the story came a lot quicker and so did the natural end! thank you anon, i appreciate you ;_;
Anonymous asked: Hello! Just wanted to let your know that I think your writing is awesome, and that you should write for whoever and for whatever you want to! You dont have to stay loyal to one fandom or anything, and your followers shouldn't expect that from you! It's not like they are paying you to write, you are doing this for free, and because you enjoy it and it makes you happy! If they dont like your stuff, they dont have to follow you, they can go to other blogs that cater to their taste, and they definitely don't need to be sending you such hurtful comments, and they dont get to make you feel sad about your writing! Just because they followed you during your earlier stages of writing, doesn't mean you owe them some type of loyalty or compensation! You can write literally whatever you want as long as it makes you happy! That's what your hobby and your blog are for! I hope you know that alot of your followers love your work and think that you are an amazing writer and are down to support the work that makes you happiest! 💖💖
ahh thank you so much anon!!! i am always so bowled over by how many people are nice to me when something like this happens, i am sending you my love <3
Anonymous asked: don’t listen to them!! we love you as a writer no matter what you write, because you’re a good person and a talented writer!! you shouldn’t have to change what you write to please a bitter person, and if they only want jjba, they can go to another blog instead of bringing you down. you’re doing amazing and they should be thankful you grace us with your talents!!
to be totally honest, if i was half-assing or not vibing with content i was making i just. wouldn’t post it. like you’d be able to TELL when i was half-assing stuff just to get words out (source: i have re-read my own nanowrimo works). there are lots of great jjba blogs who could do with more followers n interaction!!! i hope they do find them and i hope they’re nice to them :(.
Anonymous asked: Please don’t pay attention to that anon. People only have that confidence when they have anon turned on. Them looking through your blog despite feeling that way is peak fan behavior and speaks to how addicting your writing is. Naturally, you can’t please everyone and there will be people who are irrational and feel entitled to tell you what to do or what to write no matter what. Trust me when I say they’re a small minority and are more likely probably passing viewers rather than regulars. I check your blog about three or more times a day because I love reading not just your fics but also your takes, banter with other anons, or even random updates. Brainrot posts? LOVE TO SEE IT!!! Desk update? AMAZING!!! With that being said, don’t feel pressured to continue pushing out content for others. Write what makes you happy! You’ve been writing for JJBA for 4 years and it’s completely normal + healthy to get into new media. I’m not sure if it would mean much, but your love for JJK has gotten me excited to start it too!!
anon i really hope you enjoy it!!! sometimes these anons remember stuff i’ve posted and said better than i do tbh, i am living in their heads rent free i guess!
Anonymous asked: I've been following you for a couple of years and honestly it would always be a joy to see when you posted. Your writing has improved and I'm very happy you're enjoying yourself ! I know it hurts hearing and seeing stuff like that but I'm happy you're here. I'm honestly blessed everytime you post. Your writing is phenomenal. I love reading it even if its characters that I dont care for. You capture their essences so well and weave an amazing tale within the prompts and whatnot. You're amazing nat!
wehh thank you so much!!! re: the improvement, i really don’t feel like it has and then i re-read something i wrote when i first started and i’m like oh my god maybe it has. did i really write about jotaro acting like that.
Anonymous asked: Hi Nat. I recently became a follower of yours and I'm really saddened to see you get hate. You seem like a genuinely sweet person with amazing talent! I'm a writer myself and, unfortunately, get the same kind of comments. And when you get those comments, it doesn't leave you feeling motivated. People need to understand that people can and will, at times, grow out of fandoms. (1 Not just that but you're doing all of this for free. Again, I'm sorry you got such a comment. But please know that I'm proud of how far you've come. I'm proud that you're living a life that makes you happy. And no matter what fandom you may find yourself in next, I will always enjoy your writing. Take care of yourself. (2 end
HELLO NEW FOLLOWER I LOVE YOU (i get a lot more a day now than i used to and i feel guilty about not being able to look through so many blogs but i do try and follow back other writers for my fandoms!! ;_;). i’m sorry you get the same kind of comments! i’m always just happy to see people i like enjoying new things, even if i have no interest in it (hello to all of my mutuals who write for hunter x hunter and haikyuu, not interested but i’m sure you’re having a great time and i support you!!!).
Anonymous asked: I'm sure you're getting a barrage of supportive messages now (at least I hope so) but I figured I'd add my voice, because I'm a longtime follower. Your writing is, and always has been, wonderful. I've been so happy to see you and Haz get to a place that works for you both. Idk if it's obvious for everyone, but you seem like you're emotionally in a pretty good place most of the time these days, and it makes me really happy to see that. I followed years ago for JJBA content, but I stayed because regardless of what content you put out, I find your wit delightful. And I'll stick around even if you move fandoms entirely, because whatever content or editorializing you produce is going to be worth reading, regardless of what it's for.
ahh, anon!! thank you for sticking around so long, sorry if you’re old enough to have been around the vore and jorts and spider rohan fiascos! <3 i am definitely a lot more stable than i have been and - barring the Pandemic Related Mental Health Issues - happier! i’m glad that it’s noticeable! <3
Anonymous asked: It actually makes me mad how entitled some people are. Nat, you're not a content creating machine and those who expect you to be are not worth wasting a thought on. Your love for something is not measured in word counts and for you to write every day without getting burned out in the slightest you really must have a burning passion and huge dedication to your craft. If others decide to send hate then allow me to send admiration because I can feel your love and hard work in each post you make!
i try and write every day bc it’s super good for my little ocd/autistic brain to have routines and distract itself, so i’m glad other people can enjoy them because that makes me motivated to carry on! like, i write for myself mostly bc the content i want i sometimes get find, but filling requests and writing for other people also leaves me with happy warm fuzzies too! i appreciate you!! <3
Anonymous asked: If people only care about your writing for the jojo porn that’s on THEM, not you. Your writing was amazing when I followed about a year ago, and it’s only gotten better and will continue to get better! I think it really comes through when you enjoy what you’re writing and it adds a whole other layer of worth to it, because not only are you making free content but you LIKE that content and we can all gush about it together!!! More than just fans, I think you’ve created a community here and we don’t just stick around to read smut, I promise you that. -Reronon
i do miss having a discord community bc it was nice to talk to everyone in real time but it was hard work, i am glad that people feel like they can just come into my askbox and gush! i’m not very friendly in real life and people tend to think i am cold and stuck up so i work very hard to try and seem friendly and approachable online, which is much easier for me because i get to think and re-draft before i type! <3
Anonymous asked: Hi Nat! I’m sure you’re getting a lot of messages like this right now but I just wanted to say for what it’s worth that, as a person who originally followed you for jjba content and hasn’t watched/read any of the other series you’re currently writing for, I’m honestly still along for the ride. This is your blog and you’re allowed to do what you want with it and put out what content you feel like writing. Sometimes??? People acquire new interests??????? Shocking! I know absolutely nothing about jjk or bnha but out of curiosity still read some of your posts about them and even though I might not Get It, I still enjoy them because I think you’re a very talented writer! Honestly, as long as you’re still writing, I’m still down to clown, and whenever you take breaks (which are important!) I’ll still be waiting for your return or supporting and respecting your decision to stay away longer. Don’t let the entitled assholes get you down. Utilize YOUR blog and YOUR space however YOU choose. Your talent and kindness speak for themselves. Love you!!! ❤️❤️❤️
anon i care about you and i am so appreciative of you and everyone for sending me such nice messages! i am running out of ways to say it but it’s true, it really does mean a lot to me ;_; <3

Last Chapter
1 YEAR LATER
- Y/N, wake up. - Mary hit the sleeping Y/N with the pillow making her whine as she opened her eyes to the bright sunlight. Y/N groaned, grabbing the pillow and turning to the side trying to go to sleep again. As she felt like she was about to fall asleep again, she felt cold water hit her. The girl raised her torso, eyes wide open as she stared at the red head holding flowers in one hand and a vase on the other hand. - It’s your wedding day and we have a schedule.
- You just tossed water at me. - she shrieked at her, feeling the coldness hit her. - God, this is my wedding day not the army.
- We have facial, makeup, hair and dress, and that’s just for you. - Mary grabbed her by the arm pushing her up. - Let’s go.
Mary had been over the moon when Y/N asked to help her out with her wedding. They had to get married in London due to the boys being on the recording studio after Sebastian joined them back a year ago, therefore Y/N had made it well known that she was gonna get married in a garden which Sebastian didn’t really mind. What both of them minded was everyone wanting them to spend one week apart at least for luck. They both hated it, specially Sebastian who kept wondering she was gonna give up and be a runaway bride, something Y/N had told him she wouldn’t various times.
In order to make up for that stupid arrangement, they decided to have a first look away from everyone else much to both their families despair which keep telling them it was bad luck. They didn’t care however.
Y/N spent four hairs in the makeup chair, between having face masks and her eyebrows tweezed at the same time someone did her nails along with the heat of the curling iron she found herself falling in and out of sleep. The photographer even took some photos of her asleep as Mary did her hair.
She was finally ready and in her dress after four long hours, she felt beautiful in her wedding dress and couldn’t wait to see Sebastian, mostly because she couldn’t picture him fully dressed up. Mary and the rest of the team left leaving her in the room waiting for Sebastian who came in a bit later. His eyes watered as he saw her standing there dressed in white, looking like something that had fallen from heaven.
- I love you so much. - he pulled her into his arms, kissing her softly on the lips, missing her already.
- You can’t cry. - she said, noticing his watering eyes. - Or I’m gonna cry and I think Mary will kill me if I mess up the makeup.
- That’s not cool man. - she held her finger against the corner of her eye trying to prevent her tear from streaming down her face. - You look so handsome.
- Yeah, these are your father’s shoes. - he said making Y/N chuckle at how he did a little tap dance. - Oh, I got you something.
- C’mon, Seb. We promised no gifts. - she smiled at him as he took a small box from his trousers’ pockets. He handed it over to her, eyes set as she opened the little box to revel a pair of little pearl earrings. - Aw, Seb, you shouldn’t have.
- I thought you needed something new for the wedding. - he kissed her forehead.
- Well, happily I knew you never follow your promises so I got your something too. - Y/N moved to her bedside table grabbing a rectangular back and walking back to him, slowly so she wouldn’t trip on her dress.
- Now that’s just not fair, that’s a much bigger box. - he pointed at the box, making her roll her eyes. He took it from her, slowly opening it to see a pregnancy test, a positive pregnancy test. His eyes went from it to her and back to it. - Are you pregnant?
- Yeah. - she smiled at him, the tears returning again. - I’m pregnant.
- You’re pregnant. - he picked her up, twirling her before kissing her a few times, going from her lips to her nose to her forehead. - You’re pregnant, we’re gonna have a baby.
- YOU’RE GONNA HAVE A BABY! - Mary opened the door, receiving confused looks from them. - What? I was just making sure you wouldn’t have sex and ruin my masterpiece before the wedding.
- Can you keep it a secret until the honeymoon? It’s quite recent. - Y/N asked, leaning against Sebastian’s side which had the biggest grin ever. - But yeah, we’re having a baby.
- Right, we’ll talk about me being the baby’s godmother after the wedding. You go the altar, Y/N, we’re getting the garter. C’mon
5 YEAR LATER
Sebastian was driving down the highway like a crazy man. He had been away from his wife for a full month after doing press for the new album and all he wanted right now was to get back to their home. If Y/N was around she would’ve screamed at him to slow down but all he could think about was being with her again.
He pushed onto the drive away, getting off the car and rushing over to the door, unlocking the door. As he stepped in he heard a high pitch voiced followed by someone hugging onto his legs.
- Jess! - Sebastian saw his wife rush down the stairs, bath towel in hand and then looked down at his first born who was wearing his bath robe which meant him and his wife were fighting the bath time routine again. - Jess, what did I say about running down the stairs?
- But it’s daddy! - the little boy pointed at his dad who crutched down to pick him up. Y/N playfully rolled her eyes, walking over to Sebastian, placing a kiss in his lips as the toddler wrapped his arms around his dad. Y/N would always say that Sebastian was always Jess’ favourite, despite him being the one who looked more like her with the same eyes. He had been her hardest pregnancy when compared to his sister. All Y/N had wanted to do was lay down and watch TV, specially Gilmore Girls which had been where she had rediscovered her childhood crush on Jess Mariano. After a bit of name discussion, she decided to name the baby Jess. - Daddy’s back.
- Are you trying to avoid bath time again, bud? - Sebastian tried to apprehend him but he could never do that. He missed his wife and kids too much besides, his oldest had inherited his persuasion abilities. - You don’t wanna make mummy sad, do you?
- No. - Jess cuddled onto his father’s side, arms still wrapped around his neck like a little baby koala.
- Why doesn’t daddy do bath time today? - Y/N smirked looking up to her husband. It was his time to try and hold down a slippery toddler.
- Alright, to the bath we go. - Sebastian held Jess as he climbed up to the upstairs bathroom along with Y/N which turned to enter the room near their own room. Y/N had already set the tub with some bubbles so Jess would find it interesting enough to care. All Sebastian had to do was managed to get his son into the tub which he didn’t do without a fight leaving his shirt completely drenched. - C’mon bud, it’s just a bath. Don’t you wanna smell nice for tomorrow’s party?
- I’m gonna be 4. - he raised four fingers, his little smile that resembled Y/N’s so much splattered on his face. - Mummy bought a cake and we’re gonna have a bouncy house.
- A bouncy house, no way! - Sebastian smiled as he carefully ran the loofa over his son. In no time he was out the tub and wrapped around a little green frog towel. He picked him up, still remembering the time when he would not walk unless Sebastian picked him up and took him to his bedroom. His friends always poked fun of how spoiled Jess was and Sebastian hated to admit it, but he did spoiled his kids like no one else. Back when Y/N was pregnant with Jess, every single thing possible available for babies was bought by Sebastian and it was no different once Jess got his toddler bedroom. He had been the only one for a long time and Y/N and Sebastian had so much love for him. - Ok buddy, which pyjamas are we wearing tonight?
- The space ones, please daddy. - he pointed at the NASA themed pyjamas they had gotten him once he started to get interested in space, something Y/N was really happy about. - Daddy, why do you leave for so long?
- Well ... - Sebastian handed him the pyjamas, helping his son get dressed and then tucked into bed. - Sometimes daddy has to go away for a bit, but I’ll always return to you guys.
- Can we read the new book mummy got me? - he held a blueish book in his tiny hands. Sebastian grabbed the book: I Love You to the Moon and Back. Well, he certainly did.
- I love our time together as we start each happy day, I love our bath time silliness the way we splash and play, I love to lift you way up high so you feel really tall. We’ll climb the highest mountaintops hold tight and you won’t fall, I love to share the magic of the stars above and think of all the different ways that we can show our love ... like when we’re touching noses, playing chase, or seeing friends. Our love is always with us, and it never, ever ends so snuggle safely in my arms, our day is nearly done. I love you to the moon and stars, my precious little one.
He looked up from the book, Jess fast asleep holding the very first stuffed toy Sebastian had bought for him when he heard Y/N was pregnant, looking like a precious little angel. Sebastian got up from the small chair, leaning to kiss his son forehead before walking to the master bedroom he shared with Y/N. There he found her wife with their second child, Marion. Marion was a recent addition to the family, she was about to turn one. Marion was the child that both Y/N’s and his mother said looked most like him with her big bright baby blue eyes, however her temper was Y/N’s. Mellow behaviour, liked to sleep a lot, specially leaning against their parents’ chest and unlike her brother adored the bath time.
- Look who it is, Marion. - Y/N said, holding her baby girl in her lap. - It’s daddy.
- My little princess. - Sebastian threw himself onto the bed, holding his baby daughter in the air making her giggle. Marion still did not talk, she was an observant one like Y/N, however she had started to walk although Sebastian always joked she looked tipsy when walking. - You’re sleeping in daddy and mommy’s bedroom tonight? Are you, my little precious baby?
- She’s with a cold, really whiney. Thought it would be better to let her sleep with us rather than wake up Jess. - she sat by Sebastian’s side, head leaning against his side. - I’m really glad you’re back home.
- Me too, no more month long absences. - Sebastian held his daughter, getting off from the bed and walking to the crib Y/N had brought into the room. He laid Marion in the million of all her toys which both him and Y/N kept buying for her, leaning to kiss her on her head before turning to Y/N. - I think I might be thinking about a break for maybe a few years.
- You sure? - Sebastian leaned next to her in bed, cuddling her. - I don’t want you to pause your career.
- But I miss the kids, besides, it wouldn’t be a complete pause. We could do some shows here and there, just not long months away from you and the kids.
- Whatever feels more comfortable to you, honey. - she smiled, tilting her head to kiss him. Sebastian smirked through the kiss, turning her on her back so he was standing above her. - Are you trying to get lucky, Mr. Stan?
- I think you deserve some care, Mrs. Stan. - he leaned into her neck, leaving open kisses there. - Don’t you think so?
- Mummy ...
- Oh my god. - Y/N pushed Sebastian off her once she heard her son’s voice coming from the end of the room. She did not want to traumatise her son for the rest of her life. - Jess, baby, what’s wrong?
- Nightmare. - Jess climbed onto the bed, putting himself between Y/N and Sebastian.
- Aw, baby. - Y/N pulled her son into a hug, kissing the top of his head. - It’s okay, why don’t you stay with mummy and daddy for the night?
- Really? - he looked over to his dad who sighed before nodding his head. Maybe it would be better to have fun with his wife whenever the kids weren’t around. - Daddy, you’re gonna love the party tomorrow.
- I’m sure I will, bud. - he pushed the duvet over his son and wife. - But now, we need to all go to sleep, okay?
- Okay. - he closed his eyes, turning on his back. Sebastian leaned in to kiss Y/N goodnight.
- Goodnight, Y/N. Love you.
- I love you too.
He couldn’t ask for anything else.

How Would You Feel (Chwe Hansol)
It’s still technically your birthday, so I’m not late!!!!!! Happy birthday, @dvoz-writes!!! Never forget how much we love you!!!! And this also works (a little) for our 2/18 birthday boys!!!!
Word count: 3000
Inspo: How Would You Feel
The first time Hansol almost said he loved you, he had bumped into you on a busy Saturday night. He remembered walking backwards as he admired the bright lights illuminating one of the movie theaters and straight into you, which made you lose the perfect shot of the town clock striking midnight. He turned around the moment he made contact with you and in a split second, his vocabulary flew out the window and something jolted inside his brain. It processed “Sorry,” in English but it crossed with his Korean, and the “Sar-” was already ready to fly out his mouth and he caught it, finally stumbling out his apology.
Luckily for him, you didn’t notice the slip up, but you were trying not to fall captive to his brown eyes and the lights making them sparkle didn’t really help your case. Instead, you assured him that accidents happened and when you saw his shirt and recognized the group. You asked him a question, followed by another, and then ten minutes later, he invited you to a small coffee shop to further discuss the group.
“Yeah, I’ve seen them a lot of times,” he admitted shyly, sipping on his hot chocolate, “they’re really good live and it’s always worth the money. How about you?”
“I try to go to as many shows as possible. They’re my favorite outside of kpop.” You stirred your own coffee pensively, unsure whether to tell this stranger your deepest regret. Well, he wasn’t a stranger; you would’ve been a fool not to recognize Hansol Vernon Chwe, but he was still someone you didn’t know. “One of their shows I missed, this most recent one I couldn’t afford to go because work hates me and I need the money, but they said it was their best one yet.”
“Oh yeah, I went to that one. They added a song that wasn’t normally on the set, and I recorded it.” He pulled out his phone and began scrolling through it as if his life depended on it. “There it is.” He debated whether to show you. He was aware you knew him, but he appreciated the way you treated him like a normal person. He hadn’t felt this way around anyone in awhile, so he handed it to you.
“No way,” you gasped when you pressed play. “This is my favorite song. I mean, I saw it on YouTube and everything but-” you didn’t finish your sentence, you hand covering your mouth in awe and shock. You could feel the tears coming but you wouldn’t cry. Not tonight in front of an idol.
Hansol cocked his head, processing all your emotions, feeling the smile coming on and he didn’t fight it. His heart did a thing, and for a moment, he regretted not telling you he loved you, but then he remembered he didn’t know you or your name, and he wanted to know you. The moment the song finished and he locked eyes with you, he knew he had fallen in love with you.
*
The second time he almost told you he loved you, it was after he invited you to come with him to see his family. Sofia had a thing to do and after countless hours of begging him that he needed to see this, he relented and you crossed his mind, and he said he’d go on the condition that he could bring a friend and she agreed. So he called you, and he left you a voicemail when you didn’t pick up, when he forgot that you worked that day. You called him a couple hours later on your break (leaving your own voicemail because he had idol duties to attend to) and let him know that you cleared a few days off the ones in question.
The look on Sofia’s face when she had opened the door and saw you instead of one of the members was amusing, to say the least, but she warmed up to you really quickly. She still had a few hours until she had to go to a school graduation, one that had asked her to sing the Korean national anthem so she was doing everything she could to keep her nerves under control. You were currently on the floor, playing a board game and they were both yelling at you and accusing you of cheating. Even through everyone's fit of giggles, Sofia couldn’t miss the way your competitive streak came out and how Hansol just egged your annoyance on. A few rounds later, you called it quits by throwing your cards on the board, mostly because it was time for the little sister to start getting ready and because when it was siblings against the one person, they usually won. You reached over and mussed Sofia’s hair and she jumped up quickly, claiming she needed to shower before everyone was late. You helped Vernon pick up the game, joining in his sing-along and him telling you about how he grew up and pointing to the various juice stains on the ceiling and showing you all his favorite books.
Sofia found you both in the kitchen about 20 minutes later, huddled over bowls of cereal and arguing over which was the best one and she announced it was time to go.
Although you only stayed at the graduation for a few minutes, everyone treated Sofia as if she had performed a full concert and everyone was now celebrating it, not that there were any complaints. Everyone was having a good time; the parents were drinking and he saw you and Sofia squeezing your eyes shut from the pain that brain freeze brought. He looked at the milkshake cups, his sister having drunk more than you did and he decided to help you out by eating as much as he could before his own brain freeze followed. He placed his palms on his temples, exhaling deeply, his breath cold and he still laughed along with you.
Later that night, once everyone was sound asleep, he snuck to the kitchen to get a glass of water and stopped at seeing you still up. He watched the way you turned the page intently and how you struggled to keep the flashlight on your phone steady. He smiled, the thirst no longer a problem to him and instead thumped the couch cushion to get your attention.
You jumped, the light blinding you momentarily as you heard Hansol laughing. “I’m gonna kill you,” you whispered.
“Why aren’t you sleeping?”
“Sofia gave me this book and I wanna finish it before we go home.”
He liked the way you said we; it seemed like you were on the same team. Home too. It was like he pictured his future with you looking at him the way you were if he ever accidentally dropped your favorite mug on a night like this. Again, the “Sa-” was on the tip of his tongue but he didn’t know how you’d react, so he had to switch tactics asap. “Sofia has good taste. She’s the reason I grew to like books. Even if we have to stay a little longer, we will. Or I can just buy you a copy...but we have to have joint custody.”
“Sounds like a deal, Chwe.”
*
The third time he almost said it, you had managed to pull off a surprise birthday party for not one but two boys....with the help of the ‘95 line helping you decorate the place, the ‘96 line going out and buying the ingredients you needed to make the birthday boys a cake for each of them; Mingyu and Minghao taking Seokmin to go to a carnival in the next town, and Seungkwan and Chan taking Hansol to a record store and buying some stuff. Hansol had wanted to spend the day with you but he had been under the impression that you had to work that day and that his respective brothers had some recording to attend to.
(It wasn’t easy to pull it off, considering Hansol kept bugging Seungcheol every few minutes, asking when the maknae line was due to arrive to the studio and Minghao asking Jeonghan how else to distract Seokmin. Your efforts were almost blown when the front door slammed open and you dropped the frosting, and you couldn’t help but beat Chan (he was alone) with the dishrag you used to pick up the mess.
“When you marry Vernon hyung, you still better be spoiling him like this because it’d be false advertising as my future in-law,” he said eyeing the sink and pulling out a dirty spoon you used to make the frosting. He didn’t think twice as he licked the chocolate.
“I have no intentions of marrying Vernon.”
“Your loss,” he shrugged and turned to the oldest boy. “Hyung, are you almost done here? I’m tired of hearing Kwannie hyung sing all the songs on his phone.”
“Almost. Just be patient.” And with that, Chan left satisfied, and Seungcheol looked at you trying to focus on the last of Seokmin’s cake. “So is it okay if I ask you what’s going on with you and Nonie? Or is that too personal?”
You shook your head. “Nothing’s going on. We’re just friends.” The blush on your cheeks and your trembling hands didn’t exactly help your case but Cheol was kind enough to drop the subject.)
You weren't exactly sure how you managed to balance Vernon’s chocolate cake and Seokmin’s red velvet one but you did, even singing the birthday song when the boys in question processed what you were doing some few hours later when they walked in the front door. Once they made their wish and blew out the candles, Seokmin gleefully grabbed his cake and skipped to the table, sticking his finger into the frosting and licking it clean. He paraded across the room, showing it off to everyone and gloating that he had the bestest friend in the whole world. Hansol, merely took the cake with one hand and gave you a side hug as tightly as he could manage before Soonyoung intervened and grabbed the dessert so he could hug you with both.
“Happy birthday Hansol,” you whispered. “I hope this was okay.”
“Wait, this was you?”
“Well, I had help. I couldn’t have done this without your group mates.” You pulled away with a gasp. “Oh crap! I forgot your gift! I’m so sorry!”
“Why would you get me a gift after doing all this?”
“Because it’s your birthday.”
“Did you get something for DK?”
The horrified look on your face told him everything he needed to know and he marched right up to his birthday twin who had somehow been able to find somewhere to sit and was currently stuffing his face with Junhui and you couldn’t tell who looked more like a chipmunk and you hoped someone would get a picture of these two looking like that because your heart multiplied.
“Hey hyung?”
“Mmm?” He looked up at you, face full of frosting and he swallowed loudly. He scrambled for a napkin and wiped at the spots frantically. “Yeah?”
“So would you be bummed if we didn’t get gifts from our friend here?”
“The surprise party wasn’t a gift?” You had yet to get used to Seokmin’s naïtivty and his knack for being easily surprised.
Hansol shook his head. “Never mind. Enjoy your cake hyungdeul.” He turned back to you. “See? You don’t need to give us more than this.”
“So you like it?”
“I love y-” He froze the moment the words almost slipped out and just started coughing to thwart his speech, and didn’t speak again until you had given him some water. “Sorry...I meant to say that I love it. Thank you Y/N. I have the greatest friend in the world.”
Various offended “heys” sounded throughout and he reiterated slightly. “Besides you guys.”
*
The fourth time he almost told you he loved you, you were in his car in your front yard after coming back from your first date together. You kept leaning over to the driver’s side and stealing kisses from him and all he could do was relish in them and kiss you back.
“So has anyone ever made you this happy?” you asked him.
He shook his head. “I can’t remember the last time I was like this.” He welcomed the warm feeling of your hand caressing his cheek gently. “Have you ever had this much fun?”
“Once,” you admitted. “I went to visit some friends and somehow we all stayed up past our normal bedtime just looking at the sky and feeling at peace. It wasn’t a big thing or anything, but it was just us, all the stars and all the wishes we made. A lot of them have come true since then.” You looked over at him, not saying more. “What’s the dumbest thing you ever wished for?”
He covered your hand with his before bringing it to his lips to kiss them repeatedly. “It wasn’t dumb but I remember putting it on my Christmas list every year. I just wanted to go back to New York. At least there, no one gave a shit if you were black, white, mixed, missing an eye or tooth or whatever.” He brought you close to him to kiss you again. “Why did you agree to go on a date with me?”
“I figured it was about time to be real with my feelings and you.” You smiled at him. “I’d been wanting to tell you for awhile, but you beat me to it.”
He nodded slowly, liking the answer. He leaned in for another kiss, but his phone ringing disturbed the moment, and just for that he ignored it. “I should get going. Can I walk you inside?”
When you nodded, he quickly removed his seatbelt and ran to the passenger side to open the door for you. As soon as you were out, he wrapped his arms around you, back hugging you and kissing your cheek. He finally felt like a rebellious teenager to be doing this with you. It was a little past curfew, you had to be up early and so did he, but he didn’t want this moment to end. He was even more in love with you than ever before.
“Hansol, you have to go,” you whined after you realized he didn’t plan on moving from that spot.
“A few more minutes,” he sighed. “I don’t wanna let you go just yet.”
“Either you do now, or Seungcheol will pry you away from me if you're not home in the next ten minutes.”
“I’m not scared of that grandpa.”
“You hear that Cheol?”
And with that, his head snapped up, looking in all directions for the leader, already looking for words to excuse his actions. “You liar.”
“I thought you weren’t scared.”
“I’m not,” he pouted, but then he sighed. “Do we really have to say goodbye?”
“I don’t want you to go either.” You reached for his hand so he could finally walk you to your front door. “Hansol, thank you for tonight.”
“Anytime. Thank you for agreeing. I’ll call you soon, okay?”
You nodded. “Okay.”
He waited for you to unlock the door so you could go in and just as you were about to close the door, he called you.
“Yeah?”
“Sa-” The saranghae didn’t go past his throat; neither could the I love you, so he cleared his throat and tried again. “Sleep well.”
*
The fifth time he almost told you he loved you, he had convinced you to sit on the roof with him at his house. You had long ago admitted to him that you had never seen a sunrise, so he vowed that the next time neither of you had plans, he was gonna invite you to Seventeen’s dorm to make you watch it. Two months later, it happened, and he spent the day making sure he had everything to spend the night up on the roof with you, and despite the chilly air, it was worth it.
You sat in between his legs and he had his arms wrapped around you, often tightening around you every time he felt overcome with emotion. He would take your hand and trace a pattern in the sky with your finger and then tell you the name of the constellation. You offered him your earbuds sometime during the night, and you took turns listening to your favorite songs, singing along to all the words.
Every time you could feel yourself nodding off, Hansol would gently shake you awake and offer you something to snack on so you could stay awake. “We’re almost there Jagi,” his hoarse voice would encourage you. “Just a little longer.” And then he would kiss your cheek and cuddle you a little more.
You were both blissfully unaware of the 12 other boys spying on you and seeing what you were currently doing. More often than not, someone had to stop Soonyoung from barging in and interrupting, but they quietly left out extra blankets and water bottles and other snacks by the window so neither of you would have to move much.
Finally, the first few rays of sunlight came peeking through over the horizon. It wasn’t much at first, but then suddenly, the whole world seemed to wake up along with it. You could hear the birds chirping and the insects buzzing, and everything warming up.
“What do you think?”
You nodded, finally closing your eyes and resting against his chest. “It’s beautiful,” you managed to mumble sleepily. Can we do this again?”
“As many times as you want,” he promised.
“Okay, good.”
He waited a little longer in case you had more to add, but the only thing he could feel was you breathing in and out deeply and evenly, finally fast asleep. “Hey Jagi, how would you feel if I told you I loved you?”

The newest installment of The Alt-Right Playbook - Endnote 4: How the Alt-Right is Like an Abusive Relationship - is a little different. This installment was presented live at Solidarity Lowell, and includes a bonus Q&A section. This video expands on the ideas put forth in How to Radicalize a Normie.

Transcript below the cut.
He is intriguing, yet unpredictable. He demands unconditional loyalty. He seems to have an intuitive understanding of what people want to hear but no actual empathy; he treats others as simply bodies or objects. And he’s surrounded by a network of subordinates but the personnel is always changing.
Does it sound like I’m describing The President? Because these are, according to Alexandra Stein, qualities of a cult leader.
Hi. My name is Ian Danskin. I’m a video essayist and media artist. I run the YouTube channel Innuendo Studios, the flagship endeavor of which is currently The Alt-Right Playbook, a series on the political and rhetorical strategies the Alt-Right uses to legitimize itself and gain power. And, if that sounds interesting to you, and you haven’t already, please like share and subscribe.
The most recent episode of The Alt-Right Playbook is about how people get recruited into these largely online reactionary communities like the Alt-Right, a subject which, as it turns out, is real fuckin’ hard to research.
What I want to talk about with you today is how I go about studying a population that is incredibly hostile towards being studied. It involves finding the bits and pieces of the Alt-Right that we do have data on - the pockets of good research, the outsider observations, the stories of lived experience - as well as looking at older movements the Alt-Right grew out of, that have been extensively researched, and spotting the ways the Alt-Right is continuous with them, and trying to extrapolate how those structures might recreate themselves in the social media age.
So it’s… a lot. And, in the process of researching, I found a wealth of interesting perspectives that, by focusing the video on recruitment specifically, I barely dipped a toe in. All that stuff is what I’d like to get into with you today. But I’m trying to thread a needle here: you don’t need to have seen my video, How to Radicalize a Normie, to follow this talk, but, if you have seen it already, I will try not to be redundant. This talk is one part making my case for why I think the conclusions in that video are correct, one part repository for all the stuff I couldn’t get into, and one part how I’ve come to look at the Alt-Right as a result of this research, including some pet theories I wouldn’t feel right claiming as truth without further research, but I do think are on the right track.
This talk is called Isolation, Engulfment, and Pain: How the Alt-Right is Like an Abusive Relationship. We’re going to cover a lot of ground, from information processing to emotional development, but we’re necessarily also going to cover racism and violence and abuse dynamics. So this is an introduction and a content warning: if some of these subjects are particularly charged for you, no offense will be taken if you at any point leave the room. I have to research this stuff for a living, and it is rough, and sometimes I have to step away. We don’t judge here.
Now. Requisite dash of self-deprecation: don’t give me too much credit for all this. I am proud of the work I do and I think I’m genuinely good at it, but much of this video was compiling the work of others. Besides research I had already done and my own observations, the video had 27 sources: three books, five research papers, six articles, one leaked document, three testimonials, four videos, four pages of statistics, and one Twitter joke. I also spoke to four professional researchers who study right-wing extremism and one former Alt-Righter.
Without all their hard work, I would have nothing to compile.
OK? Let’s begin.
We’re gonna center on those three main texts: Alt-America by David Neiwert, a history of the Alt-Right’s origins; Healing from Hate by Michael Kimmel, about how young men get into (and out of) extremist groups, be they neo-Nazi or jihadist; and Terror, Love and Brainwashing by Alexandra Stein, about how people are courted by and kept inside cults and totalitarian regimes.
I began with Kimmel. The premise of Healing from Hate is that extremist groups tend to be between 75 and 90% male, and that you cannot understand radical conservatism without looking at it through the lens of toxic masculinity. Which makes it all the more disappointing that Kimmel has been accused by multiple women of bullying and harassment. I found the book incredibly useful, and we’re still going to talk about it, I just need to caveat here that retweets are not endorsements. Also, if I spoil the book for you then you don’t need to buy it, give your money to someone who isn’t a creep.
Kimmel’s argument is that extremism begins with a pain peculiar to young men. He calls it “aggrieved entitlement.” I call it Durden Syndrome. You know that scene in Fight Club where Tyler Durden says, “We’ve all been raised on television to believe that one day we’d all be millionaires and movie gods and rockstars, but we won’t, we’re slowly learning that fact, and we are very, very pissed off”? Yeah, that. As men, the world promised us something, and the promise wasn’t kept.
Some men skew towards social progressivism when they realize this promise was never made to women, or men of color, or queer or trans or nonbinary people, and recognize the injustice of that. Some men skew towards economic leftism when they realize that every cishet white man being a millionaire rockstar movie god is mathematically impossible. But they skew towards reactionary conservatism when they feel the promise should have been kept. That’s the life they were supposed to have, and someone took it from them.
Hate groups appeal to that sense of emasculation. “You wanna feel like a Real Man? Shave off your hair, dance to hatecore, and let’s beat the crap out of someone.” Kimmel notes that the greatest indicator someone will join a hate group is a broken home: divorce, foster care, parents with addictions, physical or sexual abuse. The greater the distance between the life they were promised and the life they are living, the more enticing Real Masculinity becomes. Their fellow extremists are brothers, the leaders father figures.
The group does give them someone to blame for their lot in life - immigrants, feminists, the Jewish conspiracy - but that’s not why they join. They’re after empowerment. According to Kimmel, “Their embrace of neo-Nazi ideology is a consequence of their recruitment and indoctrination process, not its cause."
But once an Other has been identified as the locus of a hate group’s hate, new recruits are brought along when the group terrorizes that Other. Events like cross burnings and street fights are dangerous and morally fraught, and are often traumatic for a new recruit. And experiencing an emotional or physical trauma can create an intense bond with the people experiencing it with him, even though they’re the ones who brought him to the traumatic event in the first place. The creation of this bond is one of the reasons some hate groups usher new recruits out into the field as early as possible: the sooner they are emotionally invested in the community, the faster they will embrace the community’s politics.
This Othering also estranges recruits from the people they are supposed to hate, which makes it hard to stop hating them.
So there’s this concept that comes up a lot in my research called Contact Hypothesis. Contact Hypothesis argues that, the more contact you have with a different walk of life, the easier it is to tolerate it. It’s like exposure therapy. We talk about how big cities and college campuses tend to be liberal strongholds; the Right likes to claim this is because of professors and politicians poisoning your mind, but it’s really just because they’re diverse. When you share space with a lot of different kinds of people, a degree of liberalism becomes necessary just to get by. And we see that belief systems which rely on a strict orthodoxy get really cagey about members having contact with outsiders. We see this in all the groups we’re discussing today - extremists, cultists, totalitarians - but also religious fundamentalists; Mormons only wanna send their kids to Brigham Young. They are belief systems that can only be reliably maintained so long as no one gets exposed to other people with other beliefs.
So that’s some of what I took from Kimmel. Next I read Stein talking, primarily, about cults.
Stein’s window into all of this is applying the theory of Attachment Styles to what researchers calls totalism, which is any structure that subsumes a person’s entire life the way cults and totalitarian governments do. Attachment is a concept you may be familiar with if have, or have ever dated, a therapist. (I’ve done both.)
So, for a quick primer:
Imagine you’re walking in the park with a three-year-old. And the three-year-old sees a dog, and ask, “Can I pet the dog?” And you say yes, and the kid steps away from your side and reaches out. And the dog gets excited, and jumps up, and the kid gets scared and runs back to you. So you hold the kid and go, “Oh, no no no, don’t worry! They’re not gonna hurt you! They were just happy to see you!” And you take a few moments to calm the kid down, and then you ask, “Do you still want to pet the dog?” And the kid says “yes,” so they step away from you again and reach out. The dog jumps up again, but this time the kid doesn’t run away, and they pet the dog, and you, the kid, and the dog are all happy. Hooray!
This is a fundamental piece of a child’s emotional development. They take a risk, have a negative experience, and retreat to a point of comfort. Then, having received that comfort, feel bolstered enough to take a slightly greater risk. A healthy childhood is steadily venturing further and further from that point of comfort, and taking on greater risks, secure in the knowledge that safety is there when they need it. And, as an adult, they will form many interdependent points of comfort rather than relying on only one or two.
If all goes according to plan, that is Secure Attachment. But: sometimes things go wrong when the kid seeks comfort and doesn’t get enough. This may be because the adult is withholding or the kid doesn’t know how to express their needs or they’re just particularly fearful. But the kid may start seeking comfort more than seems reasonable, and be particularly averse to risk, and over-focus on the people who give them comfort, because they’re operating at a deficit. We call that Anxious Attachment. Alternately, the kid may give up on receiving comfort altogether, even though they still need it, and just go it alone, developing a distrust of other people and a fear of being vulnerable. We call that Avoidant Attachment.
Now, these styles are all formed in early childhood, but Stein focuses on a fourth kind of Attachment, one that can be formed at any age regardless of the Attachment Style you came in with. It’s what happens when the negative experience and the comfort come from the same place. We see it in children and adults who are mistreated by the people they trust. It’s called Disorganized Attachment.
According to Stein, cults foster Disorganized Attachment by being intensely unpredictable. In a cult, you may be praised for your commitment on Monday and have your commitment questioned on Tuesday, with no change in behavior. You may be assigned a romantic partner, who may, at any point, be taken away, assigned to someone else. Your children may be taken from you to be raised by a different family. You may be told the cult leader wants to sleep with you, which may make you incredibly happy or be terrifying, but you won’t be given a choice. And the rules you are expected to follow will be rewritten without warning.
This creates a kind of emotional chaos, where you can’t predict when you will be given good feelings and when you will be given bad ones. But you’re so enmeshed in the community you have noplace else to go for good feelings; hurting you just draws you in deeper, because they are also where you seek comfort. And your pain is always your fault: you wouldn’t feel so shitty if you were more committed. Trying to make sense of this causes so much confusion and anguish that you eventually just stop thinking for yourself. These are the rules now? OK. He’s not my brother anymore? OK. This is my life now? OK.
Hardly anyone would seek out such a dynamic, which is why cults present as religions, political activists, and therapy groups; things people in questioning phases of their lives are liable to seek out, and then they fall down the rabbit hole before they know what’s happening. The cult slowly consumes more and more of a recruit’s life, and tightly controls access to relationships outside the cult, because the biggest threat to a Disorganized Attachment relationship is having separate, Securely Attached points of comfort.
And at this point I said, “Hold up. You’re telling me cults recruit by offering people community and purpose in times of need, become the focal point of their entire lives, estrange them from all outside perspectives, and then cause emotional distress that paradoxically makes them more committed because they have nowhere else to go for support?”
Isn’t that exactly how Kimmel described joining a hate group?
Now, these are commonalities, not a one-to-one comparison. A cult is far more organized and rigidly controlled than a hate group. But Stein points out that this dynamic of isolation, engulfment, and pain is the same dynamic as an abusive relationship. The difference is just scale. A cult is functionally a single person having a very complex domestic abuse situation with a whole lot of people, #badpolyamory.
So if we posit a spectrum with domestic abuse on one end and cults and totalitarianism on the other, I started wondering, could we put extremist groups, like ISIS and Aryan Nations, around… here?
And, if so, where would we put the Alt-Right?
Now, I have to tread carefully here. There are reasons this talk is called “How the Alt-Right is Like an Abusive Relationship” and not “How the Alt-Right is Like a Cult,” because the moment you say the second thing, a lot of people stop listening to you. Our conception of cults and totalitarianism is way more controlled and structured than a pack of loud, racist assholes on the internet. But we’re not talking about organizational structure, we’re talking about a relationship, an emotional dynamic Stein calls “anxious dependency,” which fosters an irrational loyalty to people who are bad for you and gets you to adopt an ideology you would have previously rejected. (I would also love to go on a rant puncturing the idea that cultists and fascists are organized, pointing out this notion is propaganda and their systems are notoriously corrupt and mismanaged, but we don’t have time; ask me about it in the Q&A if you want me to go off.)
So I started looking through what I knew, and what I could find, about the Alt-Right to see if I could spot this same pattern of isolation, engulfment, and pain online funneling people towards the Alt-Right. And I did not come up short.
Isolation? Well, the Alt-Right traffics in all the same dehumanizing narratives about their enemies as Kimmel’s hate groups - like, the worst things you can imagine a human being saying about a group of people are said every day in these forums. They often berate and harass each other for any perceived sympathy towards The Other Side. They also regularly harass people from The Other Side off of platforms, and falsely report their tweets, posts, and videos as terrorism to get them taken down. (This has happened to me, incidentally.) I found figureheads adored by the Alt-Right who expressly tell people to cut ties with liberal family members.
We talked before about Contact Hypothesis? There’s also this idea called Parasocial Contact Hypothesis. A parasocial relationship is a strong emotional connection that only goes one way, like if you really love my videos and have started thinking of me almost as a friend even though I don’t know you exist? Yeah. Parasocial relationship. They’ve been in The Discourse lately, largely thanks to my friend Shannon Strucci making a really great video about them (check it out, I make a cameo, but… clear your schedule). Parasocial Contact Hypothesis is this phenomenon where, if people form parasocial feelings for public figures or even fictional characters, and those people happen to be Black, white audience members become less racist similar to how they would if they had Black friends. Your logical brain knows that these are strangers, but your lizard brain doesn’t know the difference between empathy for a queer friend and empathy for a queer character in a video game. So of course the Alt-Right makes a big stink about queer characters in video games, and leads boycotts against “forced diversity,” because diverse media is bad for recruitment.
Engulfment? Well, I learned way too much about how the Alt-Right will overtake your entire internet life. There was a paper made the rounds last year by Rebecca Lewis charting the interconnectedness of conservative YouTube. (Reactionaries really hated this paper because it said things they didn’t like.) Lewis argues that, once you enter what she calls the Alternative Influence Network, it tends to keep you inside it. Start with some YouTuber conservatives like but who’s branded as a moderate, or even a “classic liberal.” Take someone like Dave Rubin; call Dave Rubin Alt-Right, people yell at you, I speak from experience. Well, Dave Rubin’s had Jordan Peterson on his show, so, if you watch Rubin, Peterson ends up in your recommendations. Peterson has been on the Joe Rogan show, so, you watch Peterson, Rogan ends up in your recommendations. And Rogan has interviewed Gavin McInnes, so you watch Rogan and McInnes ends up in your recommendations.
Gavin McInnes is the head of the Proud Boys, a self-described “western chauvinist” organization that’s mostly known for beating up liberals and leftists. They have ties to neo-fascist groups like Identity Evropa and neo-fascist militias like the Oath Keepers, they run security for white nationalists, and their lawyer just went on record that he identifies as a fascist. And, if you’re one of these kids who has YouTube in the background with autoplay on, and you’re watching Dave Rubin? You might be as few as 3 videos away from watching Gavin McInnes.
There’s a lot of talk these days about algorithms funneling people towards the Right, and that’s not wrong, but it’s an oversimplification. The real problem is that the Right knows how to hijack an algorithm.
I also learned about the Curation/Search Radicalization Spiral from a piece by Mike Caulfield. Caulfiend uses the horrific example of Dylann Roof. You remember him? He shot up a church in a Black neighborhood a few years ago. Roof says he was radicalized when he googled “Black on white crime” and saw the results. Now, if you search the phrase “crime statistics by demographic,” you will find fairly nonpartisan results that show most crimes are committed against members of the perpetrator’s own race, and Black people commit crimes against white people at about the same rate as any other two demographics. But that specific phrase, “Black on white crime,” is used almost exclusively by white racists, and so Roof’s first hit wasn’t a database of crime statistics, it was the Council of Conservative Citizens. Now, the CCC is an outgrowth of the White Citizens Councils of the 50’s and 60’s which rebranded in ‘85. They publish bogus statistics that paint Black people as uniquely violent. And they introduce a number of other politically-loaded phrases - like, say, “Muslim fertility rates” - that nonpartisan sites don’t use, and so, if Roof googles them as well, he gets similarly weighted results.
I have tons more examples of this stuff. I literally don’t have time to show it all. Like, have you heard of Google bombing? That’s a thing I didn’t know existed. The point is, the same way search engines tailor your results to what they think you want, once you scratch the surface of the Alt-Right they are highly adept at making it so, whenever you go online, their version of reality is all you know and all you see.
Finally, pain. This was the difficult one. Can you create a Disorganized Attachment relationship over the internet with a largely faceless and decentralized movement? I pitched the idea to one the researchers I spoke to, and he said, “That sounds very plausible, and nearly impossible to research.” See, cults and hate groups? They don’t wanna talk to researchers anymore than the Alt-Right wants to talk to me. Stein and Kimmel get their data by speaking to formers, people who’ve exited these movements and are all too happy to share how horrible they were. But the Alt-Right is still very young, and there just aren’t that many formers yet.
I found some testimonials, and they mostly back up my hypothesis, but there’s not enough that I could call them statistically significant. So I had to look where the data was.
My fellow YouTuber ContraPoints made a video last year - in my opinion, her best one - about incels (that’s “involuntary celibate,” men who can’t get laid). Incel forums tend to be deeply misogynistic and antifeminist, and have a high overlap with the Alt-Right. If you remember Elliot Rodger, he was an incel. Contra’s observation was that these forums were incredibly fatalistic: you are too ugly and women too shallow for you to ever have sex, so you should give up. She described a certain catharsis, like picking a really painful scab, in hearing other people voice your worst fears. But there was no uplift; these communities seemed to have a zero-tolerance policy for optimism. She likened it so some deeply unhealthy trans forums she used to visit, where people wallowed in their own dysphoria.
And I remembered the forums I researched five years ago in preparation for my video on GamerGate. (If you don’t know what GamerGate was, I will not rob you of your precious innocence. But, in a lot of ways, GamerGate was the trial run for what the Alt-Right has become.) These forums were full of angry guys surrounding themselves with people saying, “You’re right to be angry.” And, yeah, if everywhere else you go treats your anger as invalid, that scratches an itch. But I never saw any of them calm down. They came in angry and they came out angrier. And most didn’t have anywhere else to vent, so they all came back.
I found a paper on Alt-Right forums that described a similar type of nihilism, and another on 8chan. What humor was on these sites was always shocking, furiously punching down, and deeply self-referential, but it didn’t seem like anyone was expected to laugh anymore, just, you know, catch the reference. I found one testimonial saying that having healthy relationships in these spaces is functionally impossible, and the one former I talked to said, yeah, when the Alt-Right isn’t winning everyone’s miserable.
So I think it might fit. The place they go for relief also makes them unhappy, so they come back to get relief again, and it just repeats. Same reason people stay with abusers. I wanna look into this further, so, I’ll just say this part to the camera: if there are any researchers watching who wanna study this, get at me.
Finally, I read Alt-America by David Neiwert, a supremely useful book that I highly recommend if you wanna know how the Alt-Right is the natural outgrowth of the militia and Patriot movements of the 90’s and early 2000’s, not to mention the Tea Party. Neiwert also does an excellent job illustrating how conspiracism serves to fill in the gap between the complexity of the modern world and the simplistic, might-makes-right worldview of fascism.
Neiwert also provides an interesting piece of the puzzle, suggesting what people are actually looking for when they get recruited. He references work done by John Bargh and Katelyn McKenna on Identity Demarginalization. Bargh and McKenna looked at the internet habits of people whose identities are both devalued in our society and invisible. By invisible, what I mean is, ok, if you’re a person of color, our society devalues your identity, but you can look around a room and, within a certain margin of error, see who else is POC, and form community with them if you wish. But, if you’re queer, you can’t see who else in a room is queer unless one of you runs up a flag. And revealing yourself always means taking on a certain amount of risk that you’ve misread the signals, that the person you reveal yourself to is not only not queer, but a homophobe.
According to Bargh and McKenna, people in this situation are much more likely to seek online spaces that self-select for that identity. A fan forum for RuPaul’s Drag Race is maybe a safer place to come out and find community. And people tend to get very emotionally tied to these online spaces where they can be themselves.
Neiwert points out that the same phenomenon happens among privileged people who have identities that are devalued even as they’re not actually oppressed. Say, nerds, or conservatives in liberal towns, or men who don’t fit traditional notions of masculinity. They are also likely to deeply invest themselves in online spaces made for them. And if the Far Right can build such a community, or get a foothold in one that already exists, it is very easy to channel that sense of marginalization into Durden Syndrome. I connected this with Rebecca Lewis’ observation that the Alternative Influence Network tends to present itself as nerd-focused life advice first and politics second, and the long history of reactionaries recruiting from fandoms.
So I can see all the pieces of the abuse dynamic being recreated here: offer you something you need, estrange you from other perspectives and healthy relationships, overtake your life, and provoke emotional distress that makes you seek comfort only your abuser is offering. And I found a lot more parallels than what I’m sharing right now, I only have half an hour! But the thing that’s missing that’s usually central to such a system is, an abusive relationship orbits around the abuser, a cult around the cult leader, a totalitarian government around a dictator. They are built to serve the whims of an individual. But I look at the ad hoc nature of the Alt-Right and I have to ask: who is the architect?
I can see a lot of people profiting off of this structure; our current President rode it to great success, but he didn’t build it. It predates him. It’s more like Kimmel’s hate groups, which don’t promote an individual so much as a class of individuals, but, even then, their structure is much more deliberate, designed, where the Alt-Right seems almost improvised.
Well… one observation I took from Stein is that cult recruiters often rely on two different kinds of propaganda: the winding diatribe and the thought-terminating cliche. The diatribe is when someone talks at length, sounds smart, and seems to know what they’re talking about but isn’t actually making sense, and the thought-terminating cliche comes from Robert Jay Lifton’s studies into brainwashing. So, I went vegetarian in middle school, and, when I would tell other kids I was vegetarian, some would get kind of defensive and say things like, “humans aren’t meant to be vegetarian, it’s the food chain.” Now, saying “it’s the food chain” isn’t meant to be a good argument, it’s meant to communicate “I have said something so axiomatically true that the argument need not continue.” That’s a thought-terminating cliche; something that may not be true, but feels true and gives you permission to think about something else.
Both these techniques rely on what’s called Peripheral-Route Processing. So, I’m up here talking about politics, and, Solidarity Lowell, you are a group of politically-engaged people, so you probably have enough context to know whether I’m talking out of my ass. That’s Direct-Route Processing, where you judge the contents of my argument. But if I were up here talking about string theory, you might not know whether I was talking out of my ass because there’s only so many people on Earth who understand string theory. So then you might look at secondary characteristics of my argument: the fact that I’ve been invited to speak on string theory implies I know what I’m talking about; maybe I put up a lot of equations and drop the names of mathematicians and say they agree with me; maybe I just sound really authoritative. All that’s Peripheral-Route Processing: judging the quality of my argument by how it’s delivered.
Every act of communication involves both, but if you’re trying to sell people on something that’s fundamentally irrational, you’re going to rely heavily on Peripheral-Route tactics, which is what the winding diatribe and the thought-terminating cliche are.
I noted that these two methods mapped pretty cleanly onto the rhetorical stylings of Jordan Peterson and Ben Shapiro. But here’s the question: cults use these techniques to recruit people. But can I say with any confidence that Jordan Peterson and Ben Shapiro are trying to recruit people into the Alt-Right?
The thing is, “Alt-Right” isn’t a term like “klansman.” It’s more akin to a term like “modernism.” It’s a label applied to a trend. In the same way we debate the line between modernism and postmodernism, we debate the line between Right and Alt-Right. People don’t sign up to be in the Alt-Right, you are Alt-Right if you say you’re Alt-Right. But the nature of the Alt-Right is that 90% of them would never admit to it.
So are Peterson and Shapiro intentionally recruiting for the Alt-Right? Are they grifters merely profiting off of the Alt-Right? Are they even aware they’re recruiting for the Alt-Right? Part of my work has been accepting that you can’t know for sure. It would be naive to say they’re unaware; when they give speeches they get Nazis in their Q&A sections, and they know that. But how aware are they? I suspect Shapiro moreso than Peterson, but that’s just my gut talking and I can’t prove it. Like 90% of the Alt-Right, it’s debatable.
I don’t know if they’re trying to be part of this system, I just know they’re not trying not to be.
A final academic term before we say goodnight that’s been making the rounds among lefty YouTubers is “Stochastic Terrorism.” There’s a really great video about this by the channel NonCompete called The PewDiePipeline. Stochastic Terrorism is the myriad ways you can increase the likelihood that someone will commit violence without actually telling them to. You simply create an environment in which lone wolf violence becomes more acceptable and appealing. It mirrors the structure of terrorism without the control or culpability.
And I hear about this, and I look at this recruitment structure I see approximated in the Alt-Right, and I remember something I learned much earlier in my research, from Bob Altemeyer in his book The Authoritarians. Altemeyer has been studying authoritarianism for decades, he has a wealth of data, and one thing he observes is that authoritarianism is the few exerting power over the many, which means there are two types of authoritarians: the ones who lead and the ones who follow. Turns out those are completely different personality profiles. Followers don’t want to be in charge, they want someone to tell them what to do, to say “you’re the good guys,” and put them in charge of punishing the bad guys. They don’t even care who the bad guys are; part of the appeal is that someone else makes that judgment for them.
So if you can encourage a degree of authoritarian sentiment in people, get them wanting nothing more than to be ensconced in a totalist system that will take their agency away from them, putting them in the orbit of an authoritarian leader, but no leader presents themself… can you just kind of… appoint one?
Like, if you don’t have a leader, can you just find yourself an authoritarian and treat him like one? And, if he doesn’t give you enough directives, can you just make some up? And, if you don’t have recruiters, can you find a conservative who speaks in thought-terminating cliches just because he thinks they win arguments; find a conservative who speaks in meaningless diatribes because he thinks he’s making sense; and then maneuver those speeches and videos in front of people you want to recruit? If you’re sick of waiting for Moses to come down the mountain with the Word of God, can you just build your own god from whatever’s handy?
Every piece of this structure, you can find people, algorithms, and arguments that, put in sequence, can generate Disorganized Attachment whether they’re trying to or not, which makes every part plausibly deniable. Debatable. You just need to make it profitable enough for the ones involved that they don’t fix it. This is a system created collaboratively, on the fly, with the help of a lot of people from hate movements past, mostly by throwing a ton of shit at the wall and seeing what sticks. The Alt-Right is a rapidly-mutating virus and the web is the perfect incubator; it very quickly finds a structure that works, and it’s a structure we’ve seen before, just a little weirder this time.
I’ve started calling this Stochastic Totalism.
Now, again, I’m not a professional researcher; I do my homework but I don’t have the background. I have an art degree. This isn’t something I can prove so much as a way I’ve come to look at the Alt-Right that makes sense to me and helps me understand them. And I got a lot of comments on my last video from people who used to be Alt-Right that echoed my assumptions. But don’t take it as gospel.
Mostly I wanted to share this because, if it can help you make sense of what we’re dealing with, I think it’s worth putting out there.
Thank you.

first: god, now I REALLY wanna read dgm.... how many chapters is it? if it’s like... 300 or under I think I could handle it. it’s just like the art looks so fun and ive always heard it was cool!!!
second: I’m reading more of winter!!!! so I have Thoughts. azuma ;;; and like. especially when u realize he’s the one with the single in the dorms like... oh my god when act 2 comes around and they get their 6th member thats gonna be so nice. also the way everyone is like. ignoring the part where misumi is like btw I stole some triangles from this shady guy outside our apartment like one fuck yeah misumi but also???? they’re being stalked????? everyone feels like they’re being watched???? also very into how homare just says “nothing” for the on love ch, those r always rly interesting I think! I also love how winter troupe has just been like. oh yeah haunted legends all r coming true. a3 is a supernatural story now and we will not explain any more <3 ahhhh anywyas im excited to see where it goes!! (also. I know I don’t keep up w/ a3 super well so this is probably old news but this event looks. so cool)
👀👀👀OYA OYA (and here i am dragging you into one more thing bc i can’t shut up DLKFJDF)
dgm is one of my fav story ever so i can only encourage this ahah, as long as you know some of the themes can be a bit heavy (grief, trauma, abuse are often discussed) but it’s so.. soooo good.
Also it has 239 chapters!! chapter 239 just got released by the English translation team. Tho i guess it’s good to warn you that we get one chapter every three months nowadays so the release is super slow. Next chap should be released this month i think?? but yeah therefore there’s no rush nor any fear to have about the manga advancing too much during the time to catch up lmao
if you do intend to read it though i encourage you to block my dgm tags because i spoil like hell, the only spoilers i tag are the latest released chapters and there’s a lot of twists and turns with the story.
ANYWAY if you want to read it i found this website had the whole manga (except the latest chapter for now which can be read here) up and running. most scans website has been nuked recently so *pushes this link*. Some clumsy translations in the early chapters + the weird romanization to know about (like Lavi was spelled Rabi or Lenalee was spelled Rinari ect..) but anyway if you have any questions or anything you can come at me, i care about this manga a healthy normal amount-
so THAT’s for the dgm part, onto the second part +w+
WINTERR god i love this troupe so much. I have SO many feelings for the Azuma’s storyline, it’s just sO SAD and yeah god, the loneliness, especially with the fact he sleeps alone is just... so heartbreaking. tbh once i was introduced to the rookie who’ll share Azuma’s room it physically hurt to go back and reread those chapters knowing he could be with someone atm D:
AND YEAH LMAO that part is so funny and bewildering to me. I GET that Misumi was like, stealing things, but guys. please. take into account you guys all feel watched and Misumi is telling you some weird dude is lurking around. Com’on dudes, make those three braincells of yours work together in a deduction triangle or something.
oh the Homare arc is one of my favorite (... well all of Winter is but, Homareeee) and this reaction during the On Love chapter is so, so interesting to start with. Can’t wait until you experience it all :3c
AND YEAH RIGHT this always cracked me up so much. Like okay look, sure we have yakuza stories in the game, that’s weird but it’s still a degree of realistic, but now, downright supernatural? okay? are we ever getting a follow up on that? ... hello? dlkfjdf this cracks me up so much. Also it remains funny they needed supernatural intervention to like, address their problems. When you’ve held your problems in for so long that only supernatural events can help you smh.
Always loving reading your thoughts about it :3c take your time as always, no need to rush and all, just as long as you’re having fun <3
And yeah the current event is so cool actually DLFKJDF i loved reading it and muah at the developments in it. Hope you’ll like it when you reach it too :3c
Take care eheheh <3
#physically restraining myself to not worddump on dgm but ANYWAY#always loving seeing your thoughts thoo so <33333#ichafantalks a3#ichafantalks dgm#a bit#dKFLJDLKF#sonnets-of-beauty#ichareply

The Best Game of Charades Literally Ever
Rating: T-ish
Pairing: Kristanna
Words: 4306
Summary: Kristoff and Anna are way too nervecited for their family game night after finding out they’re going to have a baby. Because, truly, there’s no better way to tell Elsa and Olaf than by playing a little charades...
Notes: because @justlookatthosesausages posted about charades pregnancy announcements today I thought I should post this fanfic I wrote in december but didn’t have the courage to post hehe thx to my friends who read it back then on my email blast lol
not exactly the same as the brilliant ideas @justlookatthosesausages had BUT I hope you all still enjoy!
Anna felt like she was about to jump out of her skin. Jittery. Nervous. Excited. Nervexcited. Nervecited. Something like that. That combo word was truly the only one she could make up that could properly describe exactly how she felt.
She’d had a bit of an inkling for a few weeks now, but nothing certain. She still felt vastly unprepared, lacking knowledge of anything remotely scientific about how this was supposed to work, but regardless … now she felt certain. She knew. This was really happening – so soon after she and Kristoff had gotten married. Honestly exactly the way she wanted it. Another check mark on not being alone anymore.
The second she had allowed herself to finally admit it she knew she wanted to tell Elsa. Even though they didn’t live within the same walls anymore, their bond was still one of such great tenacity that Anna couldn’t imagine waiting the recommended three more months to tell her. Even if things went south … Elsa would be there.
But no. Anna wouldn’t consider that. She was too happy and nothing could ruin this moment of epic nervecited-ness.
All Anna had to do was send a little letter over Gale mail requesting the presence of only Elsa and Olaf at Friday game night that week. She loved both Honeymaren and Ryder but felt that maybe she actually should wait a bit longer to tell them, per doctor’s orders. This probably had set off some alarm bells in Elsa’s mind, but Anna didn’t know of another way to do it and honestly this beautiful charades idea was just too juicy to not use. Nervecited. Oh so nervecited.
Anna’s eyes flicked to the clock quickly and she bit her lip, foot tap tap tapping in a frenzy. Elsa was three minutes late.
Anna wanted to scream it out loud for everybody to hear. She couldn’t wait any longer. Instead of screaming, though, she let out a frustrated groan. “Elsa, where are you?!” She dramatically flopped onto the sofa, sighing again and staring with laser focus at the clock, counting the seconds and tapping her feet together to the beat.
Just in time for Kristoff to saunter into the parlor, knowing exactly what a state he was about to find his wife in. “Anna, baby—"
Anna shot up on the couch and sat with her legs zipped together, absent mindedly rubbing her stomach. “Anna baby?! Anna and baby you mean or just Anna, baby like pet name baby? Or both? Sorry … I didn’t mean to cut you off …” She got up from the couch and grabbed Kristoff’s hands. “I’m just so excited and then you said baby and wow we’re having a baby, Kristoff!”
He pulled her into his arms in a tight embrace, Anna virtually disappearing in Kristoff’s large, burly frame. He kissed her forehead tenderly. “I’m really excited, too, Anna.”
“Nervecited?” Anna felt better about her word creation. Smirking.
Kristoff chuckled. “Nervecited for tonight. Excited for the future.” That made Anna’s smirk turn to a beam.
“So did you mean Anna baby or Anna and baby or something more like—”
“Anna, baby. Pet name baby. But Anna and baby is definitely much cuter. So I probably should’ve claimed it.”
Anna laughed a bit and snuggled her head into Kristoff’s strong chest. “I love you.”
He hugged her tighter. If that were even possible. “I love you too, Anna and baby.”
Anna stood up on her tip toes and brought her lips up to Kristoff’s. He responded passionately, parting her lips with his tongue and deepening the kiss. Anna’s arms floated up to Kristoff’s head and she pulled their lips in closer, harder, encircling his tongue with her own. Kristoff’s hands habitually drifted lower and lower until they rested on her rump and he gave both cheeks a playful squeeze. She giggled into his kiss, pushing her pelvis closer up to his pelvis, feeling his excitement growing. Feeling her very own excitement pulsating down below.
A cough. From somewhere in the distance. And then: “Uhhh...”
Kristoff and Anna jumped to attention, taking several paces away from each other, both wiping their lips, Anna smoothing her dress down. They were both nervously laughing. Anna tried to get some words out. “Oh, Elsa we—you’re—wow here you are.”
Kristoff thought he needed to try speaking as well. “We were just—uh—”
“I’m sorry I’m late,” Elsa said, completely deadpan.
“No, no. That’s perfectly all right. We were still … um—” Kristoff cleared his throat. Elsa had caught them probably dozens of times but without fail the most recent always felt like it was the most awkward. Gulp. “Getting organized.”
Anna took a deep breath, brushing off all of the discomfort. She was married now, after all. Much less embarrassing by default. Plus, now that Elsa was here… showtime. “Elsa! So happy to see you!” Anna pranced up to her sister and gave her an enthusiastic embrace. “I’m gonna go wrangle up a snowman and a reindeer… well, not wrangle, but uh—you know what I mean! Be back soon.” She gave a small wave to her husband and sister before dashing off, skipping eagerly in anticipation.
Kristoff let out a breath he didn’t know he had been holding. “Sorry about—”
Elsa spoke at the same time. “How are—" They both laughed, wishing in that moment they had Anna’s ability to bounce back from any slightly uncomfortable situation. “You don’t need to apologize, Kristoff.”
“Agh, well…” Now he was starting to feel this same nervecited sentiment creeping into himself. He worried about saying anything for fear of spoiling it right then and there. And he knew how much Anna wanted to be the one to tell Elsa.
“How are you enjoying being the Prince Consort?” More than two months with this title and Kristoff still hadn’t gotten used to it. His coronation had been August, a couple weeks after his and Anna’s royal wedding, but Kristoff found he generally avoided the subject of this title that he felt he didn’t deserve.
“Uh—it’s good. I haven’t done much so far, but I did start attending some meetings over the last week...not that anybody takes me seriously—but I think—maybe—they’re starting to?” Whisper around Europe was that the Queen of Arendelle had settled for a commoner. And not just any commoner—an ice harvester at that. Someone who would know nothing of diplomacy despite his yearlong stint in international ice affairs. “Anna is doing great, though. She does all the work. Perfectly, too.”
“I know how Anna’s doing,” Elsa said matter-of-factly. “I was curious about you. I’m glad they’re starting to take you seriously, Kristoff. You deserve that kind of respect.”
Kristoff blushed. “Thanks.”
“Do you think you want to take more of an active role in the future?”
“No, no. Definitely not. I’m happy to watch Anna shine.”
“Might come in handy if you’re still hoping for that big family?”
Before he knew what was happening, Kristoff let out a huge surprised, “Ha!” as he bit his lip, suddenly concerned with how much he could give away out of sheer shock. Somehow, he reigned it in. “Uh—yeah. That’s sort of what I was thinking actually… I mean—we definitely do still want…you know—lots of babies. At some point. I don’t know. Doesn’t need to be soon. It’ll happen when it happens. Which could be… next month or next year or even—”
Truly just in time to rescue Kristoff from utter secret-keeping doom, Anna, Olaf, and Sven came bounding into the parlor. His nervous habit of rambling was getting out of hand, but at least he and Anna had that in common.
“Here we all are! We’re all here! It’s charades time— can you believe it? Another Friday night with the family!” Anna was squealing this in an octave much higher than her normally high voice.
“Hi, Elsa! I missed you!” Olaf snuggled up close to Elsa.
“It’s only been a week…”
“But a BIG week. Right, Kristoff?” Anna just about winked.
“Right,” Kristoff said. Oh dear were they making this obvious. Paired with the fact Ryder and Honeymaren weren’t invited… Elsa probably already knew. Sven winked at both Kristoff and Anna before taking his place by the timer. Kristoff had shared the news with him the second the doctor confirmed their suspicions, reacting with pure elation.
Exactly how she hoped Elsa and Olaf would react tonight… still so nervecited!
Anna couldn’t wait any longer. “Okay everyone, sit sit sit sit sit.” She ushered the three of them to do just that and they followed her orders, after all – she was the Queen.
Right as Anna slumped down on the couch she jumped back up again. “I’ll go first!”
Anna and Kristoff had originally discussed that Anna would not go first but instead go last, since her announcement would almost certainly stop the game. But when Anna set her mind to something … and tonight that something was telling her sister the announcement she was so incredibly beyond excited to share, she was not going to wait even a second longer.
“We’re gonna do this round together, all right? No teams. Winner takes all.” She made a show of picking out the piece of paper, reading what it said. Book. Throwing it to the ground. “Okay… everyone ready?”
Elsa and Kristoff both nodded while Olaf raised his twig arm in the air in a sing-songy, “Yes!”
“Sven, flip the timer!” Anna exclaimed enthusiastically. Here we go. HERE WE GO!
Anna smiled widely. Beamed, really, and giggled. She took both her hands and pointed at her belly with her index fingers.
Olaf went first. “Buttons?”
Anna shook her head.
“Belly button?” No. “Dress?”
Anna shook her head more forcefully and kept pointing to her belly. Kristoff had a matching smile on his face but said nothing.
Elsa, next. “Oh! Corset?” No.
Olaf started rattling off answers. “You… ate too much? Your stomach hurts? Oh—just stomach maybe? Indigestion? You’re hungry? You’re in a food coma!” Anna kept shaking her head vigorously. No, no, no.
“You’re going to throw up?” Elsa added.
Anna smirked, and half nodded half shook her head. Kind of? Or was it more confusing to go down this path?
Nobody was getting it. Anna didn’t know what else to do.
Clearly, they should’ve practiced more. Kristoff always got it on the third try. Hungry? Stomach? Ohmygodyouandyouramazinghusbandkristoffarehavingababy.
“Kristoff you’re not guessing!” Olaf added, confused.
“Oh—uh—right. Guessing. Charades. Right,” Kristoff gulped, knowing he could very well spoil everything. They hadn’t practiced this either. “Uh—stomach?”
“I already guessed that, Kristoff. Keep up,” Olaf said, scowling.
“S… sick?”
Anna couldn’t help but laugh and concurrently shook her head. Kristoff was an awful actor. Truly horrid.
Olaf grimaced. “Okay, Kristoff. Never mind. You can stop guessing now.” Kristoff’s cheeks turned slightly rosy but then he caught a glimpse at Sven grunting and somehow subtly bouncing in panic as he eyed the timer.
“Anna! You’re running out of time!”
Panic set in. She knew she couldn’t try to give this same clue for another round. That would be more confusing than it already was.
So she switched gears. Leaving rehearsed territory. Taking a different charades direction.
Anna pantomimed rocking a baby, pressing her forearms together and moving them side to side.
Elsa raised an eyebrow. “Uh… swing? Holding something … holding a basket?”
Anna shook her head again.
“Holding Olaf!” Olaf exclaimed, very excited about the prospect of this being the answer. “Like that one time I flurried!”
“Carrying something?”
Anna’s eyes lit up. She brought her right arm out and started gesturing for them to keep guessing. They were on the right track. Ish. The closest track they had been on during this game at least.
“Carrying … ice? Carrying … chocolate? Carrying …”
“Olaf!” He was still too excited about this.
Now she sighed. They were not as close as she had hoped. So, she switched gears again, pivoting in her boots to show them her profile, taking her right arm and tracing a big belly on top of her own. A hint of what was to come. And then she pointed to herself. Back to the belly tracing. Then back to herself.
“You… ate too much? Did I already guess that?” Olaf was lost.
But Elsa wasn’t. The penny dropped suddenly, and she had to clap her left hand over her mouth in ecstatic shock. “Anna… are you… ?”
Anna’s squeal was almost deafening. “Yes!” She brought her arms in close, pumping them up and down and up and down before doing the same thing with her whole body. “Yes, yes, yes!” Anna’s eyes were welling up with joyful tears, but she didn’t care enough to wipe them away.
Elsa sprang from the couch and ran over to her sister, grabbing her hands and pulling her in for a hug. “Anna, I’m so happy for you.” Elsa pulled away from the hug and walked over to Kristoff, giving him a tender embrace as well. “And you, too, Kristoff. Congratulations.” She turned back to Anna. “How have you been feeling? How long have you known?”
Anna opened her mouth to answer but Olaf jumped on top of the couch to make himself known.
“Wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait. What was the answer?”
Anna smiled at him, softly. Clueless in a cute way. “The answer is… I’m going to have a baby... Kristoff and I are having a baby, Olaf.”
“WHAT?! A BABY?! You and Kristoff… I’m an UNCLE?!”
Tears welled in Anna’s eyes again. She could only nod, unable to speak without crying out.
“Where’s the baby?!” Olaf started toddling around the parlor, looking everywhere he thought maybe a baby could be hiding. Under the couch. “Is the baby here?” Behind the door. “Are you here, baby?” He dramatically pulled the curtains. “Ah-hah! I know you’re hiding back here!” His face fell when he only saw windows on the other side.
Anna, Kristoff, and Elsa were all in stitches. “Olaf…the baby’s in here.” Anna put her hands on her stomach.
“Hiding under your dress?”
Anna tried to gather herself enough in between giggles to answer him properly. “The baby’s inside of me right now. It’s really tiny. Just started growing … but for the next few months my stomach is gonna get bigger and bigger because the baby will get bigger, and then it’ll be born once it’s big enough and then maybe it’ll be hiding behind the curtains.”
“You don’t have a big belly at all, Anna.”
“No, not yet. The baby is really, really small right now. The doctor told me not to tell anybody until I can feel it moving, which won’t be for a few more months, but I just couldn’t wait to tell you!”
Understanding lit up on Elsa’s face. “That’s why Honeymaren and Ryder weren’t invited.”
“You caught us,” Kristoff said. Anna grabbed Kristoff’s arm and leaned in closer to him, resting her head on his chest. Kristoff readjusted to put his arm around her, pulling her in to kiss her forehead.
Olaf still felt he had some unresolved question. “But… how did it get in there? Did you eat something special?”
Kristoff dropped his arm and quickly became utterly stiff. Anna’s cheeks flushed red and Elsa laughed. She definitely knew this was coming.
“Agh—that’s… that’s a question. Yup. That’s a … question.” Kristoff was floundering.
“Uh-huh! That’s why I asked it!”
Kristoff realized his mistake in speaking right away. He tried to deflect. “Elsa? Anna? Anything to add?”
“Nope. All you, husband.”
“El…Elsa?”
“Sorry, Kristoff.”
Olaf stared at the three of them wide eyed in anticipation. He knew this answer had to be a good one if it took them this long to figure out who was going to explain it.
“Well… when Anna and I got married… and not before that. No, no, no. Definitely not before that,” Kristoff kept making some cringy nervous laughter sound that made everything that much more uncomfortable. But he knew Olaf had a big mouth and wanted to make sure he didn’t go blabbing to everyone around town about this. "Definitely not in sleds and closets and Elsa’s old study and—"
Elsa grimaced. “My former study?! When I used it?!”
“and forests and pantries—" Why did he always rattle off way too much information when he got nervous?
“Slow down there, honey,” Anna said, cheeks red as roses.
“Yes…right—uh—well, once we got married, we took… we really loved. Uh—what I mean to say is—when we are alone…sometimes—agh,” Kristoff kept looking at Anna and Elsa, hoping that they would rescue him, but they both shook their heads at his futile attempt. He groaned. Loudly. “Yes. Anna ate this special… pie? That… the trolls baked. For us. To have a baby. Uh-huh. You’re right, Olaf. She ate something special.”
Anna and Elsa were both hiding behind their hands, trying their best to suppress the laughter that threatened to escape. Sven brought his foot to his eyes in disgrace.
“Oh! Neat! Wow. I can’t wait to one day eat this pie and have little baby Olafs running around.” Olaf jumped in the air, happy to finally have some answers to help him with his carefully cultivated newfound wisdom. “Elsa, you can ask your questions now.”
Finally. Elsa had been waiting for this for far too long. “When did you find out?”
“I haven’t been uh – unwell since … September?” Anna never loved having to refer to her monthly gift as being unwell but sometimes she felt the need to come off as prim and proper in front of her sister. Some kind of residual need to impress Elsa, even though Elsa was impressed with her sister almost 100% of the time.
“August,” Kristoff said. Remembering an unfortunately messy tryst in the kitchen in the middle of the night that they spent far too long cleaning up, giggling like delirious school children the whole time.
Anna remembered this too and blushed. “August,” she repeated in a much cheerier tone, a bit of a wink directed at her husband. Elsa let out a surprised laugh. “I only let myself think it for real this week though. A few days ago, really,” Anna smiled at her husband. They had had a great last couple of days. “The doctor said the baby will probably come in May.”
“Whoooaaaaa. That’s so long from now,” Olaf said.
“How have you been feeling?”
“Mostly okay… I guess a little bit tired. Kristoff has been handling my morning meetings,” Anna said before adding in a whisper, “He didn’t wake me up until noon today.”
“Keeping up with your queenly duties while with child must be pretty difficult,” Elsa said, thankful to not have to deal with leading a kingdom anymore.
“Not if I get to sleep until noon every day!”
“It helps me, too, since uh—she’s been pretty—uh—moody... even more so if she has an early morning,” Kristoff explained.
Anna’s voice got lower, louder, angrier. “Oh, come on, who asked you?!” The second those words came out of her mouth she clapped her hand over her mouth started laughing. The others all joined in, always appreciating Anna’s ability to laugh at herself at any time. “He’s right!”
“And … have you been able to eat? I didn’t really want to bring this up earlier, but you look quite thin.” Elsa had noticed for the last couple weeks that Anna’s collarbones were protruding a bit more than they usually did.
Anna sighed. “Not really. Well, I can eat I guess but it won’t really … stay in there? If you know what I mean. I’d say I haven’t been able to eat much for … two weeks now?”
Kristoff nodded. He had started keeping a journal to get all of these things straight ahead of fatherhood.
“Actually, the only thing I’ve been able to keep down is … chocolate.” Anna’s eyes lit up as she sang that word. Chocolate. The most perfect of all the foods. “And on that note… honey?” Anna held out her right hand to her husband.
“Got you, baby.” He pulled out some carefully wrapped truffles from his vest pocket. Elsa and Olaf looked at each other and then back at Kristoff. Not something they expected. He shrugged. “I keep these truffles in my pockets at all times.”
“My hero,” Anna said, swooning, popping truffle after truffle into her mouth.
“Do you have any extra for me there, Kristoff?” Elsa smiled. “They smell delicious.”
Kristoff chuckled as he somehow produced even more truffles and dropped them into Elsa’s hands. “I swear you two should enter a chocolate eating contest or something.”
“Well you know we’d win.” Kristoff could only guess that was what his wife said as her mouth was overflowing and spilling of chocolate.
“Did you make these yourself?” Elsa’s words were also barely comprehensible.
Kristoff nodded. “Gotta make sure Anna has her chocolate fix at least eight times a day.”
She giggled. “He really knows how to please me,” Anna said before realizing the slightly different implications her words could take on. “Ah—uh—not in that way. I mean, obviously in that way… because you know, the baby and all. I mean not—not actually obviously because I ate that cake thingie from the trolls. And that’s why…”
“Slow down there, honey,” Kristoff said, smirking and snaking his arm around her waist. “And it was a pie, remember?”
“Yes—yes. Of course! The pie thingie. From the trolls!”
Despite Anna trying way too hard to remedy this situation for the sake of Olaf’s preserved innocence, Olaf paid no mind. Honestly, he probably paid very little attention to that last bit of conversation generally. His questions were more interesting than Elsa’s anyway. As a result, he dramatically collapsed onto the couch. “I can’t believe we have to wait until May. That’s…” Olaf started counting on his twig fingers. “Seven months away?”
“But it’ll fly by, I’m sure… uh, and—” Anna had no idea why she felt nervous asking this of her sister, but she did, and she couldn’t ignore it. “Elsa, I’d love you to be there… when the baby’s born. If you want to, I mean. I don’t want to pressure you into anything since it’ll probably be, well—graphic. And everything.”
“I’d love to,” Elsa said, smiling. Feeling her heart swell. Anna let out a sigh of relief. No reason to be worried.
“Can I come?!” Olaf jumped in the air, but Anna shook her head and simply ignored him. Way too graphic for a snowman.
“Kristoff thought maybe he would send you something through Gale mail and then you could ride Nokk. You know, in case it happens quickly.”
“Wow you’ve really thought things through.”
“Kristoff has been working on an entire birth plan. And it’s very detailed. You should see his journals.” He was tracking her symptoms and her cycle and the weeks. He read countless books on pregnancy, transcribing pages upon pages of what happens on a week to week basis. And all of this in just a few days… his childbirth repertoire would only grow over the coming months.
But still he only shrugged. Oh-so-humble. “I want to know what she’s going through. So I can be there for her, fully, every single step of the way.” Elsa beamed. She was so happy that Kristoff was the man Anna had decided was her happily ever after.
“Awww,” Anna said, holding her hands close to her heart.
“When are you going to tell Honeymaren and Ryder? It’s going to be so hard to not give it away!”
“Whichever Friday comes after I feel the baby start moving. Oh, oh! We can do some more charades! You can even guess your horrible answers again to throw them off track!” Anna said, “Oh, oh, OH! And maybe I’ll be showing by then and I don’t even have to mime it I can just, like, show it. Uh—wordplay totally intended.”
Before Elsa knew it, she had tears pooling in her eyes. She didn’t think she was one for tears but seeing her little sister beaming talking about her future family overwhelmed Elsa with emotions. “I’m so happy for you, Anna.”
“Aww!” Anna bounded up to her sister and brought Elsa into her arms. When she pulled away, she noticed how Elsa’s tears glistened in the moonlight, instantly feeling hot tears stinging her own eyes the second she did. She could barely get out: “Elsa… are you crying?”
Elsa started laughing but the tears spilled from her eyes and down her cheeks. Noticing Anna’s tears, Elsa started wiping them away with her thumbs. “And you’re crying, too.”
“You know I’m an empathetic crier,” Anna said, hugging her sister again.
“I’m just … so thrilled for you two. And I’m really excited to be an aunt.” Elsa squeezed Anna tighter and then beckoned for Kristoff to join. Olaf ran up to them and hugged Anna’s legs, shedding some wholesome and loving snowman tears in the process. Sven wedged his way in to lay his head on Anna’s shoulders. A group hug. The original family. All they needed was Sven to complete their family portrait.
They basked in each other’s warmth for a while, enjoying the tender moment. Thinking about how much was going to change, but at the same time knowing how much would stay the same. Them, holding each other. This. Hugs, love. Family. Although the family was getting bigger and would likely keep getting bigger… as long as they had each other, they knew that the only changes would be for the better. Because love is the one thing in life that’s permanent.

About your sliver eyes post. I thought about that too while watching vol 7 ch 3. I also recently watched a video that discussed how sliver eyes are too overpowered considering the fact that only thing ruby has to do is think about her friends. The youtuber made a lot of good points and said how there is no stakes/ tension with sliver eyes. which could be considered why ruby is probably not gonna focus on her sliver eyes this season. You could also make the theory that she was afriad to use them
Hey there Dagger. …Yeahhh, even if I wanted to make the headcanon that Ruby was scared or apprehensive about using her Silver Eyed powers out in the field with the Ace Ops, I can’t really do that because it’s not supported by the PLOT the Writers wrote themselves into fort his season.
As for your other good point, fam.
“…I also recently watched a video that discussed how sliver eyes are too overpowered considering the fact that only thing ruby has to do is think about her friends. The youtuber made a lot of good points and said how there is no stakes/ tension with sliver eyes. which could be considered why ruby is probably not gonna focus on her sliver eyes this season…”
What’s you say? The Silver Eyes are too overpowered? They have no stakes or tension? Whelp, apologies to you m’friend but that’s…not really Ruby’s fault? It’s not her fault that the PLOT have her this super OP ability that they neglected to properly flesh out. Nor is it an excuse.
As a matter of fact, this Youtuber’s points only serve to validate one of the faults in the writing of RWBY and addresses the fact that when the Writers decided to grant Ruby this amazing ability, they neglected to put better thought into the mechanics of such an invincible ability.
Let Superman be an exemplar of this rule. For every incredibly powerful character that is created in fiction, there is usually a known weakness to said character that grounds them and could potentially provide an obstacle for them to, not overcome, but adapt to for the sake of being that powerful character especially if they’re a hero.
Case in point. Superman is considered to be the most invincible character in all of DC yet he can easily be brought to his knees and lose all of his great power by the mere force of a slab of lime-flavoured crystal meth—I mean kryptonite.
This is what the Writers needed to do for Ruby and by extension all Silver Eyed Warriors within the RWBY universe. Introduce a kryptonite or clear weakness to their abilities to ground them in reality and give these warriors stakes and an actual greater motivation to walk the path they chose.
And what’s sad is that the Writers actually introduced that back in V3. The first time Ruby unleashed her Silver Eyes, she overexerted herself and lost consciousness. If the Writers wanted a way to ground the Silver Eyes, they should have implemented something similar to that of the Hero System in the magical girl anime: Yuki Yuna is a Hero.
I’m not sure if you’re familiar with that series but, in Yuki Yuna, we follow a group of girls who naturally transform into magical warriors to protect their world from vicious monsters known as the Vertex. At some point in the plot, our heroic girls awaken a power known as the Mankai form which, to put it bluntly, is their most powerful form and the highest level of strength each hero girl could achieve.
However, as the girls soon learn in the story, there is a catch to the Mankai form. Each time the girls use their Mankai, they use it at the sacrifice of their own bodies.
One of the characters lost their memories and became disabled because she used her Mankai in a past life as a hero and forgot about it due to her memory loss. Another hero became a cripple completely. She used her Mankai so many times that she lost everything but the sight in one of her eye I believe. Afterwards, she was worshipped as a God by people despite the fact that she could no longer do anything. She couldn’t move and spent most of her days bedridden. She also still had her voice, thankfully, unlike another hero character who loved to sing and sadly lost her voice during the series.
Seriously, if anyone hasn’t watched Yuki Yuna, I definitely recommend it. I know I just spoiled some stuff about the plot but…seriously go watch it.
But getting back to RWBY, this would have been an interesting way for the CRWBY Writers to tame the Silver Eyes. Since Qrow in V3 initially described those born with Silver Eyes destined to walk the path of a warrior, imagine if those Silver Eyes who chose the warrior path did it against the detrimental effects such a life imposed on their overall health.
Imagine if there was a limit to the Silver Eye power and each time a Warrior overexerts themselves and breaches this limit, they do it at the cost of their own bodies. In the case of Ruby, imagine if…each time she used her eyes she ran the risk of slowly killing herself on the process. Picture Ruby abusing her Silver Eyes for a while after getting the hand of it…only to one day wake up and realize that she suddenly couldn’t move her arm for some straight reason. She wasn’t exactly in pain.
She just woke up one morning after a battle and realized she couldn’t move her arm. And even when she visits the doctor (meaning Pietro), she is told that there is nothing wrong with her arm meaning there is nothing physically wrong with Ruby.
Later, to Ruby’s horror, Maria reveals the horrific truth about the Silver Eyes and she explains in through sharing more on her backstory with her father—perhaps Maria’s father was a disabled man who lose the use of his legs after using his powers for too long. However Maria’s father also drilled into Maria the importance of their gift. That no one in the world could do the things the Silver Eyed Warriors could do. The Silver Eyed Warriors are huntsmen—if they have such an amazing power that could help protect many lives then use it.
Even if it meant killing themselves in the process—imagine if Silver Eyed Warriors like Maria’s father and by extension herself, believed that the sacrifice of their one life was worth if it meant help the lives of many live another day.
It could tie into why Maria felt so useless after she lost her sight. That could’ve been a thing.
Similar to how the Mankai form in Yuki Yuna, imagine if…Ruby lost the use of one of her senses for each time she overexerts her powers. She would eventually regain some of the function in time but only if she stopped using her eyes which—let’s say becomes a problem for Ruby since imagine if the heroes are placed in a dire scenario where the Grimm are actually a threat and Ruby has no choice BUT to use her eyes cause it’s the only thing powerful enough to stop it?
Imagine if …this is what had happened to Summer Rose. Perhaps thiscould’ve been her sacrifice? She gave her life up for the path she chose anddied like a hero?
Imagine if the Silver Eyes did work like the Mankai form and Summer Rose, against Ozpin’s warnings, went to oppose Salem and wound up killing herself inthe process. Imagine an alternate reality where Summer was actually alivebut…not really. Like Qrow had discovered her after she had overexerted herselfbut now, she was a cripple. Because she had gone above and beyond and breached the limits of her powers with her fragile body, Summer could no longer walk, talk. She could barely move. She couldn’t hear. She couldn’t see. She couldn’t even feel Qrow’s touch against her body when he came to save her. She was practically a living corpse.
Or…imagine if…Summer used her powers and pushed herself until her heart literally gave out. As the lyrics in the Indomitable theme say “…There isa light that shines and it’s power is mine. Though the body is weak andbreakable. The spirit is indomitable.”
Imagine if…Summer has pushed herself beyond the limits of her body for oneglorious sacrifice. She used her light on full blast until her own body gaveout on her and she died just as she lived. A hero. Or a brat who didn’t listento the warnings of those older and wiser than her. One of those things. Idunno.
This actually happened in Yuki Yuna to be honest. One of the heroes—a character named Karin (the best one in my opinion since she was a badass) used Mankai so much that by the end she lost her sense of sight, touch and hearing. She couldn’t even tell Yuna was there when she came to help her since she could no longer see, hear or even feel her. It’s actually a sad moment. Not as sad as the finale but that’s a spoiler. Seriously watch Yuki Yuna ya’ll.
But yeah, imagine if that’s how the Silver Eyed Warriors operated. They were these beings with this immeasurable god-like power but with fragile bodies thatreminded them of their own humanity and the sacrifice they would be making ifthey chose this path.
If would’ve been interesting if the path of a Silver Eyed Warrior could potentially lead them to death—but not just by the hands of those out to stop them—but by the Silver Eye power. In the past, the Brother Gods granted ALL man magic as a gift. Imagine if in respect to the Silver Eyes, the Gods only granteda couple of humans this immeasurable power but now it was—not exactly a curse—but rather a great power that came with a great responsibility.
This is what is missing from Ruby right now. Nothing bad Dagger but your point only serves to remind me of how little thought the Writers seemed to have put into fleshing out the Silver Eyed Warriors and that aspect of Ruby’s story. One of the complaints from the FNDM that I’ve heard is that the Writers are only making the plot of RWBY up as they go along.
They provide us with what feels like the bare bones for the main series canon meaning the anime while the real meat comes later in the so-called ‘expandeduniverse’ meaning the manga, comics, spin-off books and other publications.
It wouldn’t surprise me if down the line, the CRWBY get the crazy idea to give Maria Calavera of all characters her very own spin-off series sharing more insight into backstory as a Silver Eyed Huntress in her prime before she lost hersight—thus revealing more info on the Silver Eyes that quote, unquote, ‘the Writers didn’t get a chance to delve into properly in the animated series’.
If not her then Team STQR might get their own story soon and we could learn about the Silver Eyes through Summer’s journey instead. One of those things might happen down the line. Who knows?
Either way, it all comes back to this main point—the Writers have not fleshed out the Silver Eyed Warrior story and until they do, they’ll keep doing this nonsense with Ruby. Having her magically forget about her mystical McGuffin super power until the almighty PLOT commands her to.

keii’ii (Heart of Keol)
I need to reread/catch up to answer the prompts, but I gotta say this comic absolutely excels at what it does.
Nutty (Court of Roses)
I've been meaning to read this one too, I'll try and set aside some time to!

Stoop-Gallants has so much adorable humor and sass, Predictably, Alta is my favorite character; seeing her extremely awkward yet sweet relationship with Mica is my favorite.
Flea is also a sweetheart and I love seeing them learning more about their unpredictable magic and coming to be comfortable with it after avoiding it so long. This page in particular where they finally internalize that they're not a mistake and they're not alone made me tear up a little bit. T_T http://www.thestoopgallants.com/site/tsg/page-547/
RebelVampire
What I like about the beginning of the comic is that it basically opens with accidental necromancy. I think it really just kind of paints the entire tone of the comic, sets the right expectations, and is honestly, just hilariously convoluted. My favorite moment in the comic so far was actually probably the accidental necromancy as well. I love necromancy, and just the way this happens is so hilarious. Plus, I like a lot of the other scenes it ties into, like Maxwell getting mocked for not being able to do any sort of necromancy. In the theme of this trend, my favorite character is Ru. Ru is just adorable and tries his best. I like his overall kind of boyish charms sometimes mixed with his honesty and honestly, just a great friend to everyone. As for characters interacting the most, I probably enjoy seeing Marigold and Alta the most. I really like how their relationship is kind of equal trust and equal wanting to punch the other person in the face. And yet, despite all this, Marigold really sticks by Alta and helps out in the ways only Marigold can. So I just find it to be such an interesting but wholesome relationship. What I like about the art is probably the character designs. I love that there's so many different body shapes, and in particular the heights. I love that some of the characters just basically tower over the others, cause I think that's something people neglect when it comes to fantasy settings in that you can really play around a lot more with those sorts of proportions. So I appreciate seeing it here.
For themes, I like the comic explores what to do when you have a natural talent at something but you don't like that something. I feel this is something we see with Flea, Alta, and Ru. And yet, all three handle it so differently, with Alta accepting, Flea reluctantly dealing with it after fleeing, and Ru going "Nah bro I don't want this." And I really like we get to explore whether our natural talents and destiny can be run from, or if we should just accept it. For the comic's overall story, I like the balance of character conflict vs. world conflict. This is a very character driven comic, but I never feel like the world is being neglected. Like the situation with the king, now the elves. The world is built slowly, but still at a place where you get a feel for where the characters live and how the world they live in affects them. As for the comic's overall strengths, likeable characters. Even when the characters are jerks, there's still something about them where you're like, "Ok I get it." And in turn, you're invested in all their goals, even when those goals are not necessarily something that fit together.

DISCUSSION PROMPTS – PART 2
9. How do you think Mica and Alta’s relationship will progress throughout the story? Will the two continue to blunder through everything, or will things continue to go smoothly? Also, how might Alta’s personal feelings about her career affect them?
10. Do you think Flea will successfully learn to control their magic? If so, how will this change them as a person? All in all, what do you think Flea’s story has to teach us about identity, destiny, and self-acceptance?
11. Will Ru be able to solve his necromancy problem? If so, do you think he’ll be happy about it? How does this all compare to Flea’s tale? Lastly, how will the events of Ru’s story affect Cymonee solving her problem?
12. How will the Consortium’s plans surrounding the king affect the main characters? Will they do something to stop it to achieve their own ends? Additionally, what role do you think Maxwell will play, whether as a “good” guy or “bad” guy?
Don’t feel inspired by the prompts? Feel free to discuss anything else that interested you!

And I really like we get to explore whether our natural talents and destiny can be run from, or if we should just accept it.
@RebelVampire I think this is a really good way of putting it! I also like that Ru's been gradually having to come to terms with the fact that he did what he did and grow from someone who's trying desperately to shed the consequences of the drunken magical mistake he made, and into maybe accepting he's responsible for it and should stand up for the zombie he's affected. I'm so curious to see if the elf kingdom in the current arc is going to have a solution, and if so, if it's a solution he wants to go through with.(edited)
The cast is very big and while I would love to see more Alta and Mica, I think they've gotten some of their big stuff out of the way and can move on with a relatively normal relationship. If the story does revisit them in a more dedicated arc, I would love to see some exploration of Alta's extreme savior complex and how that clashes with her perception of Mica's disability.
Erin Ptah (BICP | Leif & Thorn)
Did a reread recently -- this comic is so good, funny and genre-savvy with smart writing and lovable characters. Can't wait for the Volume 2 Kickstarter.
From the early chapters, I really liked Mica's and Maxwell's weird bond. Seems like they're going to be in different settings following unrelated storylines for a while, but I'm looking forward to when their paths cross again...mostly for Mica's reaction once she gets caught up on the progress of Maxwell's secret-magical-figurehead-coup gambit.
Erin Ptah (BICP | Leif & Thorn)
Also, the whole sequence where Maxwell has to explain "ugh, this stuff depends on an otherwise-useless narrow and restricted concept of 'virginity'". (And Ru has to unpack why he still qualifies...) I think that's the first point where you really feel the contrast between "a fantasy setting with lots of these traditional tropes and formalities" and "characters who feel and react like real people." ...without spoiling anything too specific, Rekhet's whole aesthetic (their fashion sense, their interior design) is the pinnacle of this. It is hard to pick a favorite character, but boy did they shoot waaay up the list almost immediately after their introduction.
Erin Ptah (BICP | Leif & Thorn)
I feel like the first solution Ru gets is gonna be something like "don't worry, we can incinerate your problem into a pile of ash that'll blow away on the wind!" -- and he's going to balk, because he's gotten attached enough that he wants the denizen free, not destroyed. No idea what he's ultimately going to settle on -- I think it'll be something weird and offbeat, not this easy to predict. In the meantime, Denny's antics are great. Especially when there's something plot-relevant or serious going on and it's just bopping around doing its own thing in the background. (And that one scene where they all got into fancy dress, and somebody gave the denizen a bowtie -- priceless. If it started getting a new themed accessory for every scene, I would not complain.)
Erin Ptah (BICP | Leif & Thorn)
Mica seems like she has lots of plans and interests and desires, but hasn't had the time/money/resources to pursue anything more than "reading about them." Meanwhile, Alta is well-traveled, practiced and competent at lots of things, and has the resources to go around offering her services pro bono...but doesn't really like or care about her job, it's just something she fell into because she was good at it. Point being, I hope they'll get into a setup where Mica picks some dreams to follow, and Alta focuses on giving her the support/backing to do it, and then gets to share in Mica's actual enjoyment. And maybe Alta figures out she likes one of these things for its own sake, so they decide to settle down and pursue it together? Or maybe they just keep exploring indefinitely, and it turns out Alta's really into "being the devoted protector while someone else is in charge."
RebelVampire
@Delphina He named the Denizen. Once you name something, there is no going back.
RebelVampire
I feel like even though things are going good between Mica and Alta, that right now were in that happy passionate phase before real issues start to heat and they start to realize theyre kind of two different ppl. So I really think that they're going to increasingly face more and more challenges in that regards. I also think Alta is about to rethink careers, and that will probably make her defocus from building the relationship. I do think Flea will successfully learn magic, and I think in so doing Flea will gain newfound confidence but also just an entire new perspective on who they are and life in general. And I think Flea teaches us that if we continue to reject parts of ourselves, even if we dont like that, that we're just gonna wind up hurting ourselves until we explode and hurt everyone else around us. I also think Flea teaches us that identity is also fluid and that you can, will, and should change and that just cause you change, doesn't mean you aren't who you are. I think Ru will find a solution, but I don't think Ru will act on it. I reiterate in this chat again, once you name something, there is no going back. However, I don't think Ru's choice will help Cymonee. I do think Ru will find other ways to help as a sort of payback for Cymonee sticking with him. However, what I'm most interested here is the comparison so far with Flea. Flea is embracing powers, while Ru isn't. And I find this contrasting journey to be interesting. I mean Ru didn't get no Alta speech about self-acceptance, so I'm wondering how that alone paved the course of events. I feel like the Consortium's plans is what will bring the main cast together again, since they'll either stop the Consortium, or clean up their mess. Since places without a ruling head of government usually don't do so hot. I think Maxwell will serve as the person who tattles in the hopes he can come out on top.

DISCUSSION PROMPTS – PART 3
13. What are you most looking forward to seeing in regards to the comic?
14. Any final words of encouragement for the comic?
Don’t feel inspired by the prompts? Feel free to discuss anything else that interested you!
RebelVampire
I am most looking forward to seeing more of Ru's story, cause I really want to know if he's gonna start self-accepting those necromancy powers of if he really will just react them for all time. As for final words, this a comic with some fantastic characters, has a really unique humor with how the characters conduct themselves,, and all around is definitely a comic that deserves some praise.
snuffysam (Super Galaxy Knights)
I hope that if Ru does choose to accept these necromancy powers, it's because he wants to, not because he has to. Like, I'm hoping he finds a solution to his problem, but he chooses not to go through with it. One thing I'm loving about the current two arcs is that it's given us a chance to go more in depth with these characters. I loved the parts where the whole gang was together as a group, but this just gives us a chance to see these relationships flourish. Though, I do hope we see more Marigold soon, plus some other side characters like Maxwell. All in all, I really love this comic, and I can't wait to see where it goes next!

FROZEN 2 Theory (INCLUDES SPOILERS)
PLEASE DO NOT READ IF YOU WISH TO NOT BE SPOILED
THIS IS A THEORY BASED OF THE RECENT LEAKS FROM THE TEST SCREENINGS
AGAIN SPOILERS WILL BE IN HERE DO NOT READ IF YOU DO NOT WANT TO BE SPOILED.
Alright with that out of the way let’s get into it.
The recent leaks from the screening have said that Elsa will indeed go into The Unknown to destroy the source to save Arendelle, Elsa along with her creations disappear.
To be honest I believe this leak, the character descriptions that were released earlier this year, it was said that “Elsa will venture into enemy territory” and that “she will risk losing everything, including herself” this matches up very well with what the leaked ending is supposed to be. Elsa will go into The Unknown losing everything she has and herself as it was said in the leak Elsa and her creations are gone. So now that we can see this is a fairly trusted leak, (without diving into how this guy has been right about leaks before etc. as well as having a following.)
Let’s discuss how this ending can mess a lot of stuff up and how I think this isn’t exactly how the movie will end.
Yes it’s a Disney movie they obviously won’t have Elsa gone for good, really this ending would lead off to a sequel if they wanted. However, by keeping Elsa gone it’ll mess things up for mainly the Disney parks as well as advertising. You can’t exactly have an Elsa & Anna meet and greet at the Disney parks for example if one sister has disappeared from the world and the other left in distraught. Same for any advertisements, parades etc.
Now while I do believe this ending is legitimate I feel the official ending will have either have a hint of Elsa’s return or she really does show back up in Arendelle. Disney isn’t going to let Elsa be completely gone it messes up too many things (basically Disney can’t milk her as much) so this ending could’ve been for audiences reactions and that they do plan to bring Elsa back for the ending.
Or ya know Jen is just gonna be a complete rebel and stick with Elsa and everything she’s made completely gone and leave it on a sad note and an opening sequel, either way I’m brining a box of tissues with me XD
Thoughts guys ?

BnHA Chapter 218: Purse Pilferage and Mouse Murder
Previously on BnHA: Kacchan and Deku sparred in an attempt to draw out Deku’s mysterious new power once again, but to no avail. In a brief flashback, the OFA Scooby Squad (now including Bakugou!) discussed Deku’s recent visions and his multiple quirks. Kacchan pointed out that it was very similar to All for One’s power, which seems to be weighing on Deku’s mind some. That evening at the fanfic dorms, Shouto approached Deku asking if he had been hiding a second quirk. Deku assured him that the new quirk surprised him as much as everyone else, and fibbed that it was probably derived from his original quirk. Meanwhile the U.A. faculty accepted Shinsou into the hero course, and Aizawa acted all weird and cagey about someone from his past named “Shirakumo.” Later, Monoma met with Aizawa, Mirio, Deku, and Eri at the teachers’ dorms and unsuccessfully attempted to copy Eri’s quirk. Eri apologized for being so troublesome, and the others assured her that she wasn’t and Deku told her that even seemingly dangerous quirks can be used for good. It wasn’t lost on him that this applied to his own powers as well, and he resolved to keep working to master OFA.
Today on BnHA: Early one December morn, the kids of 1-A gather in their common room to watch some TV while they wait to hear if Bakugou and Todoroki passed their provisional license retest. The news is reporting on a company called Detnerat which has recently entered the hero equipment business. Their CEO is some Joker-looking dude who’s apparently a big fan of AFO’s old nemesis Destro of Meta Liberation Army fame. Destro’s book has recently been republished and is making the discussion rounds. DetCEO discusses it with his cute lil mouse subordinate Miyashita, but Miyashita isn’t really a fan. This proves unfortunate for Miyashita, as DetCEO is all “that’s too bad, guess I’m just gonna have to snap your neck then.” Like, for real though. Anyway so then DetCEO heads to a secret meeting of like-minded individuals who are apparently Destro’s descendants and are seeking to make his goals a reality. We then segue to a group of purse-snatchers led by someone who I really thought was Shirakumo for a hot minute, ngl. He’s not, though. Anyway so they’re wreaking some havoc and stealing people’s shit -- that is, until two good boys who just earned their provisional licenses after three months of hard work show up to spoil their fun.
(As always, all comments not marked with an ETA are my mostly-unspoiled reactions from my first readthrough of this chapter. I’m caught up with the manga now at chapter 225, so any ETAs will reflect that.)
HOLY SHIT
BABY WE GOT OURSELVES SOME MOTHERFUCKING SNOW IN THE FANFIC DORMS!!!
holy shit. and it’s the weekend! ARE WE GONNA HAVE SOME ANTICSSSS YES PLEASE I REALLY NEED THIS SO BAD RIGHT NOW YOU HAVE NO IDEA
ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
KIRISHIMA WHY ARE YOU TAKING YOUR CLOTHES OFF
I hope they get a ton! I WANT SNOWBALL FIGHTS AND SNOW FORTS AND TODOROKI TO LET IT GOOOOOO LET IT GOOOOOOO
ahh but apparently he and Bakugou are away right now
wow they even got that class on Sundays now, huh
also, who did Sero borrow the tankoubon from? because more likely than not it was Bakugou since I can’t even picture Shouto reading manga (unless he borrowed some volumes from Deku, maybe). so that means Bakugou is (a) a big ol’ manga-reading nerd who brought his manga to school with him, and (b) sharing with friends. both of which make me so, so happy
(ETA: Viz translated this as “I want to borrow the next volume of this manga from Todoroki,” but as far as I can tell, in the RAW version he doesn’t specify who he borrowed it from. I think Caleb Cook just doesn’t think Bakugou is capable of sharing. give him some credit, Caleb Cook.)
Deku says they should be back around six, and Iida says it’s apparently the last day of their provisional class!
OHMYGOSH. hold up. so that means that their re-test is in like a week, no? holy shit. oh my god I’m so hypppppped ahhhhhh
SDLFKHASLDFKJLK HOLY SHIT
IT’S TODAY!?!??
YOU CAN DO IT KIDS I BELIEVE IN YOU. YOU GOT THIS
KACCHAN ARE YOU READY TO OFFICIALLY BECOME KACCHAN THE HERO
(ETA: maybe we’ll actually get Kacchan’s hero name before I grow old. maybe.)
SDFKASLDHK AND LOOK AT THIS SETUP!? AHHHHHH PLEASE DON’T CUT AWAY FROM THIS. OH MY GOD
but snow antics though. oh my god I’m so torn lsdkjlk
anyways of fucking course we cut away, and I don’t really mind because I love cozy 1-A snow day dorm antics also. plus everyone is gossiping about Todo and Baku, and Satou is baking a cake like the Princess Peach he is
Kami is playfully lamenting the fact that he’s about to lose the one leg-up he had on those two, and flipping on the news
oh shit are we gonna get some Plot
I guess so. what is this
Detnerat?? is that a portmanteau of something? an acronym? or another Star Wars reference I failed to pick up on??
(ETA: yeah so it’s the word “talented” spelled backwards. except with an r instead of an l.)
so the news is showing some people with mutant quirks, including a four-armed lady, a jello child, and a walrus with a bowler hat
and the narration is talking about how people like this used to be a minority but now “their era arrived”
interesting. I guess there’s pretty much no such thing as “one size fits all” anymore these days huh. so does that mean there’s been a shift back to custom-made tailored items?
this pointy nose guy is extremely theatrical
calm down buddy
so he says his company has come all this way while building products that meet the needs of each of their customers individually
this is cool and all but I’m trying to figure out why this new arc is opening with an infomercial
I’m expecting things all right, but I think it’s a little too early to say if they’ll be great
and now we’re cutting to this guy’s office, where his employee is concluding his presentation. apparently he was showing his boss the finished commercial
and now they’re discussing the thus-far lukewarm reception to their recent announcement
(ETA: holy shit. famous last words. fuckin’ jinxed it Miyashita.)
are you guys... good guys? bad guys? how is this related to the plot?? a new arc all about stock holdings and market shares. Iida did you write this arc
so pointy nose says that they’ve been doing this on a much larger scale for a long time already, so he’s confident they’ll be successful
oh shit
it only just occurred to me that he used the word “superpowers” instead of quirks
AND LOOK AT THIS SHIT
IT’S THAT BOOK. THE ONE THAT WAS PROBABLY WRITTEN BY DESTRO OMG
AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
IT WAS DESTRO. CALLED IT WOOP WOOP
Mishiwhatsa says he read the book too but “it’s a load of crap if you ask me”
he says that what the army was doing was nothing but terrorism at the expense of innocent people, and yet Destro “had the gall” to act like he was in the right
hot damn this guy really was Magneto. are we going full-on X-Men in this arc. I want the works. I want fucking sentinels and everything oh god please
oh shit I’m starting to worry about ol’ Mishi here
MIYASHITA, RUN
OH SHIT
IS HE GOING TO SNAP HIS FUCKING NECK!?? HOLY SHIT!??
holy fucking shitballs oh christ
this dude is straight up murdering his best employee, Nezu’s cousin, all because he didn’t agree with his favorite book!?
...
holy shit
fuck. I’m speechless
okay. okay shit. well. uh. Detnerat, huh
you have my attention, plot
hooooooooooly shit
holy shit holy shit holy shit
okay. calm down, self. let’s jot down some thoughts real quick
okay so one, that one shot of that guy with his hand on his hat has a decided Ian McKellen vibe to it. I’m telling you guys. X-Men references all over the damn place in this arc
two, the word “supremacy” was used. meaning this wasn’t just a “quirk rights” group, this was a quirk supremacist group. or is a quirk supremacist group, I should say. these people believe themselves to be the future of humankind. they don’t want liberation, they want control. and assuming we continue to follow the X-Men parallels here, they also believe themselves to be superior to those without superpowers and they’re looking to assert their authority over them
they clearly believe the current laws restricting the usage of quirks are a form of oppression and persecution and are looking to eradicate them
this seems like exactly the type of philosophy the League of Villains would be eager to spread, and I wouldn’t be surprised if another team-up is in the works here
lastly, if these guys are now in the business of making hero equipment, whoever buys from them had better be really careful, as I can easily see some sort of Iron Man 2 plotline going down in which there’s a secret command built into the coding of the new equipment which will sabotage its users once activated. or if you’d rather think of it in Star Wars terms rather than MCU, call it an “order 66” ploy
(ETA: well I partly called this one. still up in the air honestly, who knows.)
also: friendly reminder that Bakugou’s gauntlets were recently destroyed and he’s gonna be needing new ones! (:
so having said all that, let’s see how this pans out!
and right away, the prediction about them teaming up with the League is panning out. waste no time, huh
so Hooknose is telling him to do so at once
oh shit hold up
WELL I SURE GOT THAT BACKWARDS NOW DIDN’T I
lol oh shit. I totally forgot that AFO was the one who bombed the Army’s HQ all those decades and possibly centuries ago. I can’t believe these guys still remember that and know how AFO was connected to boot
also, is there a Rorschach thing going on here? I wonder if it’s a reference to the psychologist or to the comic book character from Watchmen. I’m betting the latter given the way they’re using the inkblots as masks, and also because this is a manga based on superhero comics after all
(ETA: yeah, Rorschach, Joker, and Magneto... drawing on a lot of classic villains and anti-heroes in this arc.)
ah so now we’re getting details on their new bid to enter the hero market
HOLD UP
WHAT THE FUCK THIS GUY LOOKS AWFULLY FUCKING FAMILIAR
IS THIS SHIRAKUMO??? AIZAWA WERE YOU NOT CONTENT WITH THE STRIKING SIMILARITY YOU ALREADY BORE TO KAKASHI? HAD TO GO AND ADD THE OLD FRIEND TURNED EVIL BACKSTORY TOO?? OR WHAT
given that this guy seems to have some sort of cloud-based power (look at what he’s riding! and now the people he just harassed and stole from are describing it as “carbonated water”), and kumo means “cloud”...
(ETA: nope, this is just good ol’ Soda Sam. Carbonation Carl.)
okay and now we’re cutting to a conversation between two as-yet-unknown parties that seem to be witnessing this robbery from a distance, and deciding whether or not to intervene
for a moment I entertained the idea that this might be Kacchan and Shouto with their hot-off-the-presses licenses, possibly talking to All Might? but none of this dialogue seems to have that Kacchan flair, and it also doesn’t make much sense for them to have attended the lesson accompanied by All Might and no one else. Aizawa’s been pretty good about making sure there’s always at least one other fighting pro accompanying them
so now this group of merry bandits is celebrating their new haul
OH SHITTTTTTT
ODDS OF THIS BEING BAKUGOU AND SHOUTO JUST SHOT WAAAAAAAAAY WAY UP OH MY GOD?!
OH MY GOD IT WAS EXACTLY WHAT I THOUGHT?!
I SHOULD STOP DOUBTING MYSELF AND HORIKOSHI’S PROPENSITY FOR GIVING ME EXACTLY WHAT I WANT ALL OF THE TIME
motherfucker. you just know Kacchan spent that entire cab ride with his nose pressed to the window trying to sense danger and keeping his fingers crossed something like this would happen
(ETA: him and Shouto both, since the dialogue suggests it was Shouto that spotted it first! so basically one of them stationed at each window with All Might sandwiched in between wondering if he’s even going to survive this trip. the answer is yes, All Might, but not without it becoming Eventful.)
also, 30 minutes or 30 seconds, it hardly matters All Might. you know these two spent the last three months anticipating this moment every single minute of every day. they’re gonna go do reckless hero shit, All Might. THEY’RE JUST GONNA
oh my godddddddd
TodoBaku fighting against Aizawa’s possible friend-turned-villain in the snowwwwww having JUST EARNED THE SHIT OUT OF THEIR NEW LICENSES HELL YEAHHHHHHHHH
and it appears Kacchan does have a gauntlet. goddammit. make that propensity for giving me almost exactly what I want, most of the time
anyways, I don’t really care! life is good. life is fucking amazing, fam

Momo 12 SONGS GIFT Rabbit Chat Part 4: Tell Us, All Stars! 2
Part 1 | Part 2 | Part 3 | Part 5
Tsumugi: Has everyone returned?
Momo: I'm back!
Tenn: So am I.
Kaoru: I'm here, too. I must say, talking about arguments makes for a good reference.
Banri: That's true. Everyone has different reasons for gettting angry or apologizing.
Kaoru: Re:vale is known to fight often, but who fights the most among IDOLiSH7?
Tsumugi: Huh? Let's see... They all have arguments sometimes.
Momo: Huh! Even Nagi? I don't really get the vibe that he fights a lot.
Nagi: I am a pacifist, after all.
Tsumugi: Nagi-san gets into fights rarely. In IDOLiSH7, the people who fight are, for example...
Choices/outcomes:
1. Iori-san and Riku-san?
Momo: Ah, I can totally see that! They're the kind of cute arguments you have when you get along really well. Me and Yuki don't really have fights like that... We should put more effort into doing that...
2. Yamato-san and Mitsuki-san?
Momo: That's a surprise! So even your oldest members fight! But, I guess Mitsuki and Iori did have to stay over at my place that one time. Me and Yuki would often storm out of the house, too.
3. Tamaki-san and Sogo-san?
Momo: MEZZO" spends long periods of time together, after all! They must have a lot they disagree on, but the fact that they're still holding on is proof of their friendship! Me and Yuki used to be like that, too!
Momo: All of our groups have a lot going on!
Yamato: Sorry for the wait. My phone's all charged up now.
Tsumugi: Welcome back! Now that it seems everyone has returned, let's continue!
Tsumugi: Yamato-san, go ahead!
Yamato: I'm more of a low energy kind of guy, so I try to avoid fights to begin with. If I get into one, I'll apologize right away. And when even that doesn't help, I just roll with it.
Mitsuki: Really???
Tamaki: You think you don't fight a lot, Yama-san???
Yamato:
Yamato: Maybe with our members, sometimes...
Mitsuki: Don't get all timid now, lol
Ryunosuke: Isn't that the kind of fighting that happens between good friends? It's nice when people who aren't usually opinionated feel comfortable expressing their views to others!
Momo: I know! That totally suits Yamato, since he's so good with boundaries! Isn't that why he gets along with staff, too?
Yamato: Thank you. But recently, I've learned that I should work a little harder with people I care about.
Tsumugi: Thank you, Yamato-san! Mitsuki-san, you're next!
Mitsuki: Making up after a fight, huh. I think it depends on who I'm fighting with. Sometimes it's easier if I apologize first, and sometimes not apologizing will help more.
Mitsuki: Fights are kinda like accidents. Nobody really wants to get into them, but if they do, there's usually a reason for it.
Momo: I know what you mean. A lot of times you completely understand where the other person's coming from once you ask for their reasons. Like that they were only doing it for your sake.
Momo: But if you avoid speaking up just because of that, won't you get into another accident later? This is pretty complicated...
Mitsuki: That's right. But I think it's important to discuss both parties' personal traffic rules, so you won't get hurt even if you crash again!
Momo: You're so admirable, Mitsuki. That was really helpful!
Mitsuki: It was nothing, really! This was just my ideal scenario, there's times when things don't work out this well!
Tsumugi: Thank you, Mitsuki-san! You're next, Sogo-san!
Sogo: I'm generally the type to apologize. But when I don't understand why the other person is upset, I ask why they're angry.
Sogo: That might be the obvious course of action, but I've apogized for things without knowing why someone was angry with me in the past.
Momo: I get what you mean! Sometimes you apologize reflexively, because you just want the other person to calm down!
Sogo: Right. Thinking back on it, that was a rude thing to do.
Sogo: I think nowadays I put more precedence to moving forward despite disagreements, instead of avoiding them altogether.
Momo: Well said! It's really fun to hear all kinds of perspectives on this.
Tsumugi: Sogo-san, good work! Nagi-san, you're next!
Nagi: I mostly agree with the others. We should understand that the objective of a debate should be to reach a conclusion, not to win a battle of who is right and wrong.
Nagi: However, I enjoy being spoiled. If someone were to involve me in a fight, I would want them to then bashfully try and curry favor with me.
Nagi: Though that is a request, rather than a set rule.
Momo: That's so cute! When you say stuff like that, it even makes the idea of trying to butter you up after a fight sound fun!
Nagi: Thank you very much :-)))
Nagi: Ideally, both the fight and the aftercare should be enjoyable.
Momo: True! You gotta have that much breathing room!
Tsumugi: Nagi-san, thank you! Kujo-san, you're next!
Tenn: Alright.
Tenn: I won't bend on things I care enough to fight about. I'll persist no matter what.
Riku: Won't bend...
Gaku: Persist...
Tenn: Instead, I'll show them my respect some other way. Because I want them to know that I didn't disagree with them to be disrespectful.
Yuki: That sounds like a good strategy. Compromising on one thing, while sticking to your guns on the other.
Tenn: Will this comment do?
Momo: Thanks! That was such a Tenn way to answer, and it was really helpful! You could probably convince me to do what you say~!
Tenn: Truthfully, even I dislike fighting. But in this line of work, there are many things you can't apologize for.
Tsumugi: Kujo-san, thank you! Riku-san, you're next!
Riku: Okay!
Riku: I don't like arguing, and I'm no good at it, so I guess I'd tell the other person that I don't want to fight.
Iori: But you still demand that the other person listens to your side of things.
Riku: Well, yeah. That's why I got into a fight in the first place.
Iori: And you won't concede that demand.
Riku: Sure I do! But, I think I'm a little like Yuki-san.
Yuki: Me?
Riku: I decide how to react based on the other person's tone. If they yell, I'll get upset, but if they talk in a gentle voice, I might listen to them.
Tamaki: Rikkun~, give your dessert to Tamaki-kun~ (gentle voice)
Riku: Ah, that would totally work on me. That's why I listen to what Sogo-san says.
Sogo: I see. I'm happy to hear that.
Riku: When Iori says something to me, I'll get angry and later realize that he wasn't in the wrong.
Iori: So it's out of pity towards me?
Riku: You should just speak in a more gentle voice!
Iori: Nanase-san, please stop sleeping in, starting tomorrow (gentle voice)
Riku: Fine!!
Iori: Oh, so you can respond obediently.
Momo: I know the feeling! But I think I'd feel like crying if someone talked to me in a gentle voice while we're fighting...
Yuki: Start listening to what I say, already (gentle voice)
Momo: Nope, I was wrong. I can totally keep fighting. It's good that I came to my senses.
Yuki: lol
Tsumugi: Riku-san, thank you! Iori-san, you're next!
Iori: I never mean to fight, but sometimes the other person just gets angry out of nowhere.
Riku: Aaaaargh, I'm gonna lose it!
Tamaki: Iorin's always like this!!
Iori: However, I'll apologize because it's bothersome to have someone complaining all the time. That is all.
Riku: Iori, I bet you never think you're wrong!
Tamaki: Yeah, seriously! And it's totally obvious when you're only apologizing because you want us to shut up!
Iori: I'm sorry. I'll reconsider my actions (gentle voice)
Riku: Well, as long as you're sorry... I was probably in the wrong, too...
Tamaki: Right... Iorin can be right pretty often...
Yamato: This (gentle voice) thing is really effective.
Yuki: If only it worked on Momo, too.
Tsumugi: Iori-san, thank you! Tamaki-san, you're the only one left!
Tamaki: I was
Tamaki: Taught to apologize and make up after a fight
Tamaki: So I do that, but
Tamaki: I'm basically like Nagicchi
Tamaki: I want an apology, and to be spoiled!
Momo: I get what you mean!! That's what I really want, too!!
Tamaki: I want them to say that I'm right, even if I'm wrong!!
Momo: That's basically what fights are all about!
Yuki: Spoils you (gentle voice)
Tenn: Momo-san, now's the time to start hitting your mental punching bag.
Momo: (>_<)=○( )゜O゜)
Momo: You're so good at being 1000% annoying with 0% ill will, Darling~~~!
Banri: But you two only fight because you're so close! It's proof that you're compatible!
Momo: If you say so... (´;ω;`)
Yuki: It is so (gentle voice)
Momo: You sure like that gag, lololol
Yuki: I do ^^
Momo: Come at me, bro (gentle voice)
Yuki: lol
Sogo: What about that was funny?
Momo: It's so confusing to imagine something so aggressive being said in a gentle voice that it becomes funny, lol
Sogo: So, it's kind of like saying "If you want us to release the hostages, you'll need to have one hundred million ready for us" in a gentle voice.
Momo: That's scary either way!
Sogo: How confusing...
Tsumugi: Tamaki-san, thank you! That was everyone!
Kaoru: This was a very helpful chat! Now I know that TRIGGER will basically never change their minds for someone else. Though I suppose I knew that already.
Yuki: Did you have fun, Momo?
Momo: I did! Thanks for all the advice, guys~!!
Tenn: It was nothing. Try to keep the fights in moderation, Re:vale.
Nagi: And enjoy making up ;-)
Tsumugi: Momo-san, happy birthday!
Banri: Happy birthday, Momo-kun!
Ryunosuke: Do your best at your solo live!
Momo: Thank you! I will!!
Momo: I'll make it the happiest birthday ever~! \(*´∀`*).+゜
