One of the earliest examples of Leo’s “I’ll do my own thing to accomplish our goal without discussing it with my team first” is in episode one. It’s super, super quick, and ultimately inconsequential, but it subtly sets up a great precedent that I think is very interesting.

When the boys need to grab the medallion from Splinter without Splinter noticing, Raph, Mikey, and Donnie huddle together with Raph taking the lead in trying to devise a plan to get the mystic device. Meanwhile, Leo slinks away and grabs the device by clocking the situation (by knowing his father well enough to predict his actions - something he does with each family member multiple times in the series) and making a move on his own.

It works out perfectly fine, and is ultimately the best move, and it’s honestly okay that he didn’t consult everyone for something so small when it’s such a non issue to get it, but it nicely sets up how this tends to go in the series, including how it goes in the movie.

To be honest episode one is actually really good at setting up a lot of things for each character in the long run, this is just one example that caught my attention, as small and unassuming as it is.

#rottmnt #rottmnt leo #rise of the teenage mutant ninja turtles #im just ranting at this point feel free to ignore me I’m tired lol #anyway #Leo constantly just goes off and does his own thing #and yeah honestly his own thing often works??? but he alienates his brothers/team in the process #BUT also this isn’t necessarily a one way street #when Leo DOES try to consult his brothers or give his thoughts on matters he’s not really taken seriously #best example here is bug busters where he CONSTANTLY makes his worries and suspicions known only to have them ignored #so it’s almost understandable that he doesn’t often open up about his thought process when it’s easier to just do it #than to try and fail to justify it #after all it almost always works out for him when he does so why not?#and then the movie happens #and that line of thinking doesn’t quite hold up does it?#BUT ON ANOTHER NOTE #like I said episode one is super good at setting characters up #from showing off Donnie’s preference for tech vs magic/mystic #from showing Mikey’s innate talent for mysticism #from showing Raph’s anxieties and how easily they can stack up #there’s more but I’d have to do a closer deep dive on the ep and man am I tired #so off the head rambles it is for now #sorry everyone for my constant spam of Too Many Words into things that are prob Not That Deep #it’s honestly just fun haha #EDIT: bc I saw someone mention it! yeah all the boys have communication issues through the series and it’s super interesting and realistic #Leo in particular stands out to me here because his communication issues are a constant theme that pop up much more often #but each of them experiences this in some form

I might adjust the blending modes more on Blades so you can see the flag colors more clearly, but I’m too lazy to do it rn

Not all of the flag colors are the exact headcanons I have for them, I just needed flags that suited the amount of places to color… the flags do still apply to him and Dani though :)

If you want to know, all the flags/flag colors Blades has right now are:

Gay flag (on the, y’know, big banner stick he’s on. It’s also on the paint splatter on his copter blade)

Pansexual flag (on his windshield thingy and the party banner flags, sorry there are 0 technical terms its 4 am. This flag applies to both him and Dani)

Transgender flag (painted on his left arm and on his left leg)

Queergender flag (painted on his right arm and right leg)

Genderfluid flag (in his left leg rotor)

Genderflux flag (in his right leg rotor)

And the rainbow, of course, partially on the lower party banner and his left shoulder’s paint splatter!

That should be all of them, I might change them tho since they’re pretty redundant (I might change one to be ace or poly, depends since I still need the flags for the other three)

Tell me your RB headcanons and I’ll see if I can include them!

I want to be able to include as much representation for this Pride (since it’s my first time really making art specifically for pride and posting it, I usually forget it’s pride month, but I want to celebrate because I can 👍🏼)

File No. 40: ANOTHER Gundam reference. “Char” here is “Char Aznable,” from the universal century timeline. This file makes zero sense if you’re not gundam rotted

File No.41: I think you can guess what franchise this could possibly referencing. The Zanscare Empire from Mobile Suit Victory Gundam is an antag

Honestly kinda of the belief that the more you know about the source material, the more fun it is to treat it like a piñata at a frat party.

Absolutely man! The best way to deconstruct and mess with something is first knowing the base of what you’re messing with!

Its how I believe all fandoms should be explored by. comics in particular have SO many different versions and iterations of that character that you have to wait and pause at the store to choose one of the 18 differently colored but otherwise identical piñatas. You then can take your bat and swing at that version of the character. Pick and choose your piñata and you’ll have a grande ol time

met a VERY charming lil friend yesterday who i have never (knowingly) seen before!!! 🖤💛

this is the Sequoia Pitch moth (Synanthedon sequoiae), yes, moth! these fascinating little creatures bear an incredible resemblance to members of the family Vespidae, like common paper wasps and yellowjackets, and that’s no simple coincidence!

the appearance of these moths is an example of Batesian mimicry, a type of mimicry where one species mimics the warning signals of another species, but without having the same harmful or undesirable defences.

in this case these moths look like they may give you a nasty sting, but really they’re about as harmless as a moth can be! (plus they have gorgeous slightly iridescent black-lined wings and fluffy little shrimp-like tails! absolute cuties!)

Kim teaching Harry how to skateboard and Harry teaching Kim how to roller skate.

Harry thinks he fucking sucks at first because Kim gets the hang of roller skating pretty quickly. As it turns out, skateboarding is a lot harder than roller skating.

I don’t know where I’m going with this. Um. Kim still prefers skateboarding because of the technical aspect and risk factor but he’s surprised he enjoys how chill roller skating is.

Harry enjoys skateboarding because a) time with Kim as a teacher and b) oh wow a challenge? Your physical instrument loves challenges. You will conquer this with the force of your—what do you mean this is more the centipede’s thing? Holy shit no wonder Kim’s so cool
