Hello! This is my first time requesting to you so I hope this makes sense😣

Can I request RB heatwave with a fem reader that has a tiger as her alt mode?? I think he’d be suspicious of her at first, but he’ll start to REALLY like her when he realized how strong she is🤭

Distrust

[Heatwave X Femme!Tiger!Reader]

The news of a new addition to the rescue team shocked everyone, especially when learning that this new addition wasn’t a rescue vehicle or even had a vehicle alt mode, they had an earth animal as their alt mode, a tiger. So when Optimus brought them along to meet the rescue bots, they were reasonably surprised when they saw how large this femme was, clearly a strong bot with a calm aura around her.

Heatwave doesn’t trust her, almost immediately after seeing her, it’s not that he wouldn’t trust a non rescue bot, it's just the fact she’s never been apart of a rescue team that he doesn’t trust, especially a bot without a vehicle mode, sure, she’s strong, but that will only get her so far, as leader of their team, he has to think about his teammates strengths and weaknesses, as well as the safety of his team, and this new bot has far too many weaknesses in his optics. Yet, he says nothing about it, not wanting to go against Optimus, especially since the Autobot leader seems to trust this femme, so she can’t be that bad if Optimus seems to think she belongs on their team.

As Optimus leaves, he glances at Heatwave, recognizing the look in his optics, he knows the rescue bot doesn’t trust the new bot, but he has the suspicion that’ll change in a few weeks of them interacting. He gives a curt nod and a “good luck” to the team before leaving through the ground bridge, leaving the team to their own devices and the new bot.

Cody, ever excited to meet a new bot, runs up to the femme, a thousand questions running through his mind as he introduces himself to her. “Hi, I’m Cody!” The child was more than happy to help this new bot adjust to their new environment, like he did with the rescue bots.

“Hello Cody, I am Y/N.” The femme looks down at the small human with a small smile on her face, almost instantly feeling a need to protect the human boy, which she assumes is due to the fact he’s so small, like a little sparkling.

She looks up when the helicopter, she now knows as Blades, practically bounces over to her with a wave and smile, his own questions on his glossa. “Have you ever watched human tv? It’s hilarious, you need to watch it sometime!”

“I have not, I suppose you will have to show me sometimes, Blades.” She hums, returning his smile with a soft one of her own, watching as the others start to ask her questions, she chuckles softly as she answers them with the best of her abilities, not yet noticing the optics glaring at her back.

Heatwave continues to glare at the femme with suspicion, he has his own questions but he refrained from asking them now, just watching the others interact with her, he is glad his team seems to be happy with the new teammate, that much he does recognize and care for, he wants his team to be happy. Now, he does notice that the way she's treating his team and Cody is with true care and an almost motherly aura surrounding her as she speaks with a gentle smile and voice.

Heatwave vents heavily before pushing off the wall he was leaning on to go introduce himself and make his status as leader known. He walks over to them with his arms crossed, a stoic expression on his face as he stops just before the crowd of his teammates surrounding the femme, noticing her glancing over at him before she had fully turned to face him.

“Heatwave. I’m the leader of this team.” He held out a servo to properly introduce himself and see where this femmes respect stands in this team, more importantly if she returns the handshake if she respects him.

“Y/N, I hope to do well on your team.” She shook his servo in return, she has a strong grip, clearly she does hold a lot of respect for him, that much he could tell, it does a little to ease his suspicion and distrust.

Heatwave nods before backing off and walking away, letting the others continue their questioning and conversation. He still has his distrust and suspicions but he says nothing for now, leaning back on the wall with his arms crossed and a heavy vent. He perks up slightly when Chief walks over to him, standing up straighter when he looks down at the human.

“Don’t trust her, huh?” Chief had leaned against the wall next to the mech, his hands in the pockets of his trousers, watching his family happily introduce the newcomer to the things in the bunker.

“No. I don’t see how she can be helpful during missions, she’s not a rescue vehicle, if anything, she’s more closely related to predacons than rescue bots.” Heatwave grunts, his shoulder’s heaving as he looks back at the team, watching her with narrowed optics, he can tell she has no malicious intent, but that doesn’t mean she isn’t a threat.

“Don’t worry, Heatwave,” Chief chuckles a little, watching his family with fondness. He's glad they’re getting along with their new friend, who seems to be quite fond of them as well. “She’s a good person, and her alt mode will definitely help us with rescues that are on more difficult and challenging terrain that you can’t traverse easily. Also, from what Optimus told me, she’s incredibly strong as well.”

Heatwave sighs, yet he argues no further, begrudgingly acknowledging that she would be the best in a rescue with difficult terrain, it’d be useful that she’s also strong enough to hold her own if she needed. He continues to watch her with narrowed optics though, he can acknowledge her strengths, but that doesn’t make him trust her more, he’s still struggling with accepting anyone new to the team.

It’s been a few weeks since Y/N joined the team, and Heatwave still doesn’t seem to trust her fully, he’s appreciative of her help on the rescues that he and his team can’t reach, specifically in forests and the mountains, she definitely has the advantage in that field with her tiger alt mode, she quick and strong, he can respect that.

But currently, the team is batting down Griffin Rock as a large storm rolls over the island, their human companions are pulling sandbags over to buildings so water doesn’t flood underneath the doors, Heatwave and the other bots are moving large storage containers away from the docks and properly stacking them while their metal frames are pelted by the rain coming down, Chief was about to call the bots back so they can return to the firehouse, but a deafening crack of lightning split the sky and crashes into an old, unstable building, forcing its foundation to crumble and crack, the building tipping over and falling.

The initial shock forced most of them to freeze as they are still recovering from the loud crack of lightning, but they’re taken out of their shock when Y/N broke into a sprint, quickly placing herself between the building and the humans, holding the building up, offering the only support to the broken building, planting her pedes firmly on the ground so she won’t budge at all despite how heavy to building may be.

The team started to try and find a way to fix the damage so she doesn’t strain herself holding it up for so long, if she were to release it, the building would crumble and become debris that the storm could fling through the air, but it was too severe, the foundation wouldn’t hold no matter how much they tried to find a way to repair it, but as the rain grew heavier and the winds grew stronger, it was growing too dangerous for the humans to remain outside without the threat of being injured.

“Get out of here, I’ll be fine, I’m more than capable of holding the building up until the storm is over!” She digs her claws into the brick of the building, remaining steady as she tells the others to retreat, she doesn’t want them to risk their lives when she’ll be able to hold out until daybreak.

They were all obviously hesitant to leave her alone, they didn’t want to abandon her when anything could happen to her, but Heatwave stepped over to her, a serious expression on his face. “I’m staying.”

“Heatwave-“ When she tried to object, Heatwave cut her off quickly, his tone sharp and serious.

“I’m staying. It’s my job to make sure my team is safe and last I checked, you’re a part of my team.” Heatwave crossed his arms, stubborn and refusing to let her get a word in, he may not fully trust her, but she’s his teammate, he’s not leaving her in the middle of a massive storm.

She stares at him before sighing in defeat and nods, letting him stay with her throughout the storm, no matter what she says or does, he won’t leave or accept her request to get somewhere safer than here. Heatwave nods to the rest of his team, a silent way of telling them to retreat back to the firehouse and wait out the storm before returning when it’s over.

The two of them watch the rest of the team leave, Cody showing the most concern for Y/N as they drive away, leaving the leader and femme holding an entire building up alone. Now they must wait through the night for this storm to end, the raindrops pelting against their frames, causing Heatwave to shudder a bit while he keeps an optic on her, making sure she can actually take the strain of holding a building up for so long.

Heatwave keeps her company, making small talk to fill the little silence the storm gives them, watching the dark clouds blend with the night sky, plunging them in a world of darkness as they speak, as the hours pass, he learns more of her and her past, why her alt mode is so different from everyone else’s, any of his earlier suspicions of her slowly dissipate throughout the night, he has gained a true respect for her when he finally processed that out of any of them, she was the first to move towards the building as it fell while they all remained frozen, she did something he couldn’t, and he can respect that, complimenting her strength and intuition which earns him a soft smile from the femme, causing his own ghost of a smile to appear on his face.

As the clouds clear and the morning light peeks through the clouds, Heatwave gets a call from Cody, who is quick to ask if Y/N is okay, which Heatwave assures the boy that the femme is more than okay and still standing, even though he can hear her metal frame straining against the building, her optics had shut at a point so she can focus on holding the building up longer. Cody then informs Heatwave that they’re getting Doc Greene to come down to the docks to find a way to get the building out of her servos without destroying it and causing more problems. Heatwave is more than thankful to hear that news, bidding farewell to Cody before returning his focus to her.

He can tell she’s straining, her pedes are trying to slide and move on the wet ground beneath them, her metal farm creaks with struggle as she grits her denta. He knows he has to keep watch of her so she doesn’t fold under the stress of the weight above her, he truly doesn’t want her to get hurt or damaged in any way, he cares, so he waits with bated breath for everyone to arrive.

Heatwave looked up once he heard Chase’s siren coming in their direction, he could hear Blades flying above as well, he heaved a sigh of relief, looking back at her with concern and relief. “They’re here, you’ll be relieved of your duty soon.”

She could only grunt in reply with a stiff nod, she could feel the stress her body was under, groaning quietly as her legs creak with pressure from the building, her arms are shaky, yet she kept her claws firmly stuck in the bricks of the building, refusing to give in just yet.

As the Chase pulls up, Cody practically hurls himself out of the car door, sprinting over to them with concern written all over his face, he skids to a stop in front of Y/N, while the others start to work on getting the building off her safely.

“Y/N! Are you okay!” Cody was obviously worried about the team's new addition, which was so very kind of the little boy, warming her spark for a moment as she gave him a strained smile.

“I’ll be better…once this thing is off me…” Her response was strained, obviously showing how much pressure and stress her body is under as she trembles for a moment, her legs no longer coordinated and unsteady beneath her.

Doc Greene is quick to find the reason why the foundation was so weak in the first place, there were cracks all throughout it which weakened the already old buildings stability, causing it to fall. Heatwave and the other bots are quick to help remove the building off of her, using their combined strength to lift the building before setting it on the nearby grass so it can later be fixed or demolished.

After they set it down, Blades runs over to her, having her sit down in the sun so she can warm up and recover, he was able to recognize her exhausted state, giving her a once over to make sure she wasn’t injured by the strain, luckily he found nothing which made the medic sigh in relief before he got up to return to the others, sternly telling her to take it easy, which makes her chuckle and hold up her servos in surrender before he walked off.

Heatwave walks back over to her side, sitting down beside her, knowing her tendency to try and help even if she’s already injured and in pain, so he’s making sure she stays put, but he doubts she’ll actually try this time, she just looks exhausted from his point of view anyway, he can see the way she trembles and vents heavily.

“Why aren’t you with the others?” She looks over at him with a tired expression, obviously she’d be tired after holding up a building which weighs only primus knows how much, she was curious why he was sitting with her, she really wasn’t going to move much, she’ll probably go into recharge back at the firehouse when they return.

“I…” Heatwave paused before lowering his voice so only she could hear him. “I was worried…when you had caught the building last night…and when you said you’d stay there for the rest of the night, I was afraid you’d get hurt…” He sighs quietly, looking away from her and towards the ground, his arms resting on his knees.

“Awh, so you do care about me, that’s sweet of you, leader.” She grins weakly, teasing him with what energy she had left, she was truly exhausted but now she was also incredibly grateful that he stuck with her throughout the night, she was more than happy to have had the company, she doesn’t know what she would have done if she was completely alone.

“Hey!” Heatwave barks with a scowl, getting a hearty laugh out of her before she shakes her head and looks at him with a small smile.

“But…thank you, Heatwave…really, I’m not sure I would’ve made it through the night without you by my side…” She spoke in a quiet and tired voice as her exhaustion started to hit her at full force now, making her loopy and sleepy.

Heatwave was genuinely surprised at her gratitude, he wasn’t exactly subtle with his distrust of her at first after all, so hearing her actually thank him and say that she wouldn’t have made it through the night without him makes him a bit flustered, his faceplates heating up with a light blue hue as he huffs, and turns his helm away from her with a grumbled “No problem…just don’t do something that stupid again.”

“Of course…” She chuckles quietly before leaning against his side, making him more flustered than he was previously , leaning up to gently plant a small kiss of gratitude on his cheek, before she started to doze off against his side, optics closing with exhaustion, her frame relaxing against his own.

Heatwave grumbles but doesn’t push her away, letting her lean on him as he rests his helm against her own, closing his optics as the stress and anxiety from the night fades away as they fell into a recharge next to each other, his team is definitely teasing him about it later, especially Kade, but that doesn’t matter to him now, they both need the rest, especially her, so they rest, a soft blue hue on his face as he breathes softly while she slept beside him, breathing peacefully as the sun shone down upon the two autobots, warming them and assuring a warm recharge.
