i really do think there’s a huge disconnect on here w/ people who have never used tiktok as to what it actually is and who actually uses it. the number of people i’ve seen call it a “teen dancing app” is actually insane. it has not been a teen dancing app since i was in high school, around 2016 - 2020. the main communities i saw on a daily basis were 1) black history/anti-racism educators, 2) high school & college teachers sharing in-classroom strategies and frustrations with the education system, 3) local/state political leaders giving real-time updates on behind-the-scenes government decisions, & 4) community activism & leadership. like tiktok is an adult platform. almost every person i interacted with was my age or older. and yes it completely depends on your fyp and how you interact with the app, yes there’s still teenagers and dance videos and literally anything else you can think of. but these communities of adults aren’t insubstantial at all, they have literally millions of interactions on a daily basis. there’s about a million other types of communities that i could name just off the top of my head, because the range of users was SO diverse and thriving. it’s a long-distance community tool, just like any other social media—and honestly much better than any other social media, because it relies primarily on the kindness of strangers. i saw at least 5-10 videos today of queer people in rural areas panicking because they don’t have any access to queer community on any other platform or in real life. and before i end this i do want to say i think tiktok is coming back, i think this is a highly orchestrated political move, etc., but i do know it won’t ever be exactly the same. people are panicking about free speech violations because tiktok was a place where people fucking SPEAK. i have never seen mass mobilization and communication in this same way for as long as i’ve been alive. it is the people’s app, not just a silly teenage thing. if you’re not on tiktok and never have been, please stop talking about it like you know anything at all😭

In an alternate universe, Powder gets caught and left behind when Jayce’s lab explodes. Realizing that she will likely be shipped off to some dismal prison or orphanage, Jayce argues that keeping her around will lure back the real culprits of the attack- she’s just a child, after all, and nobody was really harmed- besides, somebody has to keep an eye on her, and they were his crystals. What’s the harm in letting her tag along?
In an alternate universe, Viktor notices her genius and takes her under his wing, consults her on his experiments and encourages her to undertake her own. She becomes an expected presence in their lab, tinkering away at her own projects and offering a fresh perspective when Jayce and Viktor get stuck.
In an alternate universe, they notice her despair and betrayal when her sister doesn’t come back for her. They notice when she breaks down, her grief and rage, the internal violence her mind wreaks on her, and they search for a cure. They get her help and medicine, and if need be, they talk her through her delusions with cool, scientific detachment, explaining what is going on in her brain until it doesn’t scare her anymore. If, in the process of helping her, they both begin to reconcile with their own self destructive tendencies- well, that’s just a convenient side effect.
In an alternate universe, she is understood and listened to and valued, and she is not a weapon or a tool or a jinx. She is respected for her brilliance, and her illness is acknowledged and not feared, and her genius is put toward progress and not violence. She never quite fits outside the lab- she is a Zaunite, after all, and she clings to that identity with teeth and claws- and though Jayce never quite understands, Viktor always defends her to him.
In an alternate universe, she builds Viktor braces and prosthetics and mobility aids as his condition declines, new and improved with every model. They tweak the designs together, and their witty banter as they work staves off the threat of impending mortality, just for a while. Hextech products begin to sport animal motifs, a phenomenon that neither Jayce nor Viktor feel the need to explain. Their lab is covered in graffiti, which they both complain about, but never actually discourage.
In an alternate universe, Vi finds her sister, and she is eccentric, but not broken. She is supported and cared for and hailed as the protege of the two most brilliant scientists alive. She is angry and confused and betrayed, yes- but she is not alone, and she is not afraid.
And they can work with that.

I absolutely love your work. Could you please do something with John and Fabby interacting? I love them being mean to each other but also having some kind of respect for each other
Tumblr media
the only time they act like they’re friends is when they’re judging people at parties with the confidence of two people who know they’re the hottest ones there
wanted to finish out february with one last Fabricator drawing!! she’s so cool

I think it’d be really funny if a doctor who writer just added a new time lord chapter, like have the doctor be going on about the time lords and just name a chapter we’ve never heard of before and then go ‘well they’re dead now so it doesn’t matter’ and never mention it again

I’m so used to seeing Artemis Entreri fanart depicting him as a brown man. That when I went to start re-reading Promise of The Witch-King, the whitewashed Artemis on the cover gave me whiplash

Soo anyways this is the direct continuation of this post about Uldren- I kinda wanted to preserve the flow of my thought process so here it is: I've seen mechanic characters get portrayed doing this sort of thing a lot. And he’s not technically a mechanic but he did tinker with machinery (I.E. his drones) sooo close enough!!
I don't think it's mentioned enough that he wasn’t against getting dirty. He hunted, was a falconer, built things, went on expeditions for days/weeks/maybe even months on end, and loved exploring the world around him.
Which does make me think of something else- his Forsaken outfit.
Tumblr media
Look at how clean and smooth and sharp his new outfit was. It’s really not an outfit for getting into things. It’s definitely a pretty outfit, I like it a lot. But it wasn’t the most practical. Thigh high boots are pretty but they’re a pain to take off and slip on. Fingerless gloves are cool but they offer little protection. A solid chest plate seems more sensible than the strange scale armor thing for mobility. Why does he have leg belts? Like he technically had one on his old outfit but that was the sheath for his knife. The asymmetrical sleeves- no comment beyond that they’re functional but very different. By no means was Uldren's original outfit completely built upon pure efficiency:
Tumblr media
There’s a lot of random chunks of metal just sticking out of his outfit, so it’s obviously not the most practical, but his design feels connected to who he was as a person. The feathers that adorned his hood connected to his group- the Crows (also note the symbol on his chestplate!) and his love for birds. The jumpsuit is perfect for a guy who gets his hands into machinery and pilots ships a lot.
And the gloves, while definitely sleeker, are rather reminiscent of a certain hobby’s type of gloves…
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The featherlike bits hanging from his belt make him seem like he likes to collect things- (or maybe these were from some of his favored falcons that have long passed- just a theory considering that suggests the feathers would be extremely old most likely). I know Brandon O’ Neil, his English voice actor, mentioned that he missed the belt, he liked the little adornments and how they showed that Uldren held onto things from his adventures.
The torn up, worn look of his cape suggests he’s been out in the field a lot and had likely been through many a conflict! He had gone to places and things happened that took off a little bit of that cape, or a lot of it.
Now, switching back to his Forsaken outfit:
What does his Forsaken outfit tell you about him? What does it say about his hobbies, his attachments, what he had been through, and the people he connected to?
Tumblr media
The Queen’s symbol is plastered all over his hood. His sister’s symbol- the person he thought he was hearing, he was following, and he was going to save. He wore that symbol as he rampaged through the Reef.
Any individuality he had had been abandoned, any hint to who he was before, gone. His interests, his friends, his history, all irrelevant. It’s just The Queen.
Something something everything he did he did for her something. I don’t know, he makes me ill I hate him.
Edit: just remembered another point. His Forsaken outfit is the equivalent of a pure bred (more like badly bred) show dog to me. It’s pretty, but can’t do a damn thing. But the owner doesn’t care. It’s “theirs” and exists for them. Or something.

another bucktommy incorrect quote because everything reminds me of them
tommy: break my heart, evan
buck, absolutely gobsmacked:
tommy: break my heart into a thousand pieces
tommy: do whatever you want
buck, literally silent crying at this point: i love you
tommy, finally knowing that evan’s worth everything: i love you too

It is once again “why didn’t they let ryuji have any empathy for yusuke” era. Nothing like a game establishing that both of them have abusive/neglectful/awful dads and then instead of ryuji trying to connect with yusuke and show him that madarame is abusing him, he just gets angry at him?? For what????? Why???? There was so much potential

rewatching supernatural i get so intensely angry whenever dean makes a reference to how he’s “supposed” to die, how he’s “meant” to go. especially as the show goes on because in the earlier seasons he talks about going out blaze-of-glory style as if it’s a badge of honour because he actually believes in it. his conditioning and his upbringing shaped his self worth in such a way that the ideal out for him would be on the job—saving people, hunting things. but as the show goes on, every time it comes up there’s an increasing sense of resignation, so especially by the end you know that he doesn’t actually want to go out that way. he wants to make it to the other side, he’s just too afraid to verbalize that because of how easily any hope for escape could be taken away from him, and so what do the writers do? when that hope is more present than ever—he can see the light at the end of the tunnel—they suddenly and brutally take it away from him, his worst fears confirmed in the final moments of his life, dooming him to the narrative he finally accepted he didn’t want to be stuck in. and i know we’ve talked about his ending a lot so i won’t get into it too much, but i just can’t stop thinking about every time he says to sam or cas or another hunter that he’s “supposed” to die a certain way, because what more proof do we need that his story never should have ended like that? fuck’s sake, he deserved better.
