I was just writing and I realized that I’d never considered that Fives and Echo probably had good friends that were also ARC troopers that they went on missions with.
Perhaps they were besties with a pair of ARCs from Bly’s battalion. Their favorite explosive tech ARC was from the 104th, the one Echo liked playing sabacc in the was from Ponds’ legion, Fives preferred longer missions with an ARC from the 212th.
There is so much potential here I am suddenly realizing. Do you think they all mourned when Echo ‘died’? Do you think they were shocked when they partnered up with The Bad Batch and found Echo there?
I NEED ARC STORIES AND FRIENDS

If there was a Star Trek version of the acolyte, it would be a show where a character (parroting the words of the director) unironically says "the needs of the one come before the needs of the many"
Oh wait that's just the ahsoka show

You know what (breaking my silence on tales of the empire) I'm not bothered by the idea of Morgan Elsbeth coming up with the TIE Defenders, god forbid women do anything etc, I'm more annoyed at the implication that thrawn would just not credit her for that, because that would be EXTREMELY out of character for a guy who is known to rely on a posse of underdog women

imagine if during the clone wars flashbacks they'd included a blurry but still distinguishable figure in white jedi armor talking to troops in the back. it could've even be a faceless shot like. we'd know. we'd know lol

It was necessary feature to let the Plo say basics, but I still can't get out of 'only speaking Kel-Dor Plo Koon' because that will be so much meaning.
I mean, Plo was originally speaking only Kel-Dor in making of the Clone wars. But since our friend Filoni wanted Plo to have more and more screen time and lore, they decided to let Plo speak basic.
If you can read Star wars(1998) Comics, you can find why Plo was speaking Kel-Dor at first.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
In comics, the difference of languages can be seen in text balloons shapes. Like this, you can recognize Plo speaking in Kel-Dor balloons and his Master Tyvokka, who is Wookiee, speaking Shyriiwook which can be recognized as between brackets.
Tumblr media
And you can see his niece Sha Koon is also speaking same Kel-Dor.
I have no idea how they can communicate with other Jedis with their language, but since they were Jedis, what is impossible.
Well actually there was a moment Plo actually had trouble when he spoke Kel-Dor to others.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Like this, in Star wars Clone wars adventure.
Clone troopers couldn't understand Kel-Dor at first, but somehow, they provided the help Plo needed, and their Commander even understood Plo's meaning.
And I am curious about Kel-Dor, how they can communicate with others...
Perhaps they are using telepathic ability? To let their friends to understand their speaking more smoothly?
Btw since Plo's padawan Bultar and his friend Ahsoka learned Kel-Dor as well and could speak with him, so does that mean Wolfpack also learned some Kel-Dor? Right?
Please say Koh-to-yah wolfves, just one time in canon and I will gladly die in peace and happiness, no I mean I will revive after that and keep loving you all.

Filoni repeatedly ignoring other artists' established work when it suits him aside, I don't think it's necessarily a huge issue that Morgan Elsbeth originates the earliest concept of what eventually becomes the TIE Defender program. There's a lot of blank space in her story during which she can take an interest in engineering and ship design, and if she's been watching/paying attention to the Imperial military for a long time, maybe it's not completely unreasonable that she could have identified a space that could be better filled by something like the Defender. That doesn't contradict Thrawn advocating for such a program, getting it, and pulling together all the people and resources he needs to turn Elsbeth's PowerPoint slides into reality. Thrawn doesn't need to be an engineer for this; he just needs to bring engineers together and enable them however he can to make things happen.

It’s interesting. I mean, where we see Ahsoka now is exactly what I would expect from her character. Stoic, world-weary, tired but not defeated. Hopeful. Quiet, tempered, still high strung, but chilled out in a lot of regards. She’s in her 40s. Of course, she’s no longer “snips”. Who in their 40s is still the same person that they were as a teen? I would imagine that the number is low.
And.. Ahsoka has been through A LOT (I’d say more than her fair share. I mean, Obi-Wan is the only one in canon that rivals her for piles of bullshit managed). She was a child soldier. She was put on trial, and walked away from the only path she’d ever known after being betrayed by everyone that she trusted including her girlfriend best friend. Then, she started to creep back because she felt obligated only to barely escape an assassination attempt carried out by her brothers in arms. Betrayed again. And years later, she was betrayed by the one person she trusted the most, her former master, her mentor, her older brother who had turned to the dark side. Someone that mirrored her in so many ways. He tried to kill her, and would have succeeded if she hadn’t been ripped through a time-portal.
So, yeah. I’m not surprised that she isn’t the happy, spunky, eager kid that she once was.
And, I know A LOT of folks are shitting about this Jedi shit, but honestly, Ahsoka has always been a Jedi. She’s never swayed or deviated from the code. She’s always followed their teachings. She’s always been a chaste, warrior monk spreading good in the galaxy. She’s always been out there doing what is selfless, what is right. In Rebels, she said that she was not a Jedi, and there will be a reason for that (likely her not finishing Jedi school, or the fact that she wasn’t officially knighted, or because she walked away from the order itself despite still being a goddamned Jedi regardless).
We’ll find out, but as I have said before, her owning her spirituality without the religious dogma will not shock me. By the end of her show, she will own her title, and it will be “in character” because the same writer has been writing her the whole ass time (good or bad, albeit bad on occasions for sure). Don’t be shocked. It’s coming.

You know, I finally watched Black Panther: Wakanda Forever the other night, and I have to say
Their blue people - few as they were, and unclear which ones were supposed to be blue or not blue and why - were so much more well done than the aliens in Ahsoka.
Like, Disney can clearly do the makeup, and even do it well! What's up with that?
And at the mall today, I did the usual tour through the fandom-y shops, and there was so little Ahsoka stuff. Not much Star Wars at all, really.
It just... kind of feels like Disney is writing Star Wars off. Really phoning it in. Which sucks, because there is SO much potential there, and they're just dropping the ball on it.
At least the books have been pretty good, from what I've heard. And there's always plenty of Legends, the good, the bad, and the ugly! Not like Star Wars hasn't had its ups and downs before...

updates from the land of the ahsoka show tv spot nonsense (aka i have got to stop fucking watching these bc i’m just going into these little rage spirals)
(sorry in advance, this got kinda long.)
from the master & apprentice tv spot:
first we had this from kathleen kennedy
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
and while i get she was probably going for the ‘rosario is a good actress and we don’t think any other actor could play ahsoka in live action’ sentiment, it just comes off as SO dismissive of ashley eckstein’s work as ahsoka.
ashley isn’t featured in this video at all, and there’s really only one mention of her doing “great work” as ahsoka in the clone wars. much more emphasis was put on filoni and his work bringing the character to life, and his journey with the character. (as a writer he should get credit for his work writing the character, but none of that writing would’ve been brought to life without ashley).
this just feels like such an insult to ashley, who recently just talked about how much backlash she got when ahsoka first came on screen. she had to deal with so much hate, and it just feels a little ick that they’re still hardly talking about her in these behind the scenes videos. (and the additional ick about rosario’s ahsoka getting so much attention and praise, and how that ties into live action being valued over animation, but that’s a separate rant).
AND THEN, there’s this nonsense from filoni:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
i just. where do I even begin with how much i hate the integration of sabine into this lineage?
i’ve talked a bit about it previously, but i just don’t understand the angle of making sabine (who is a mandalorian and very proud of it!!!) into a jedi apprentice!!! and i hate this angle! i don’t see how this will help sabine grow and develop—she’s already a incredibly well-trained warrior, including lightsaber training! because KANAN TAUGHT HER!!!! will she ever be as good as anakin or ahsoka or other jedi? no. But she doesn’t need to be.
and wielding the darksaber in the first place wasn't even really about learning how to use a lightsaber for the sake of using a lightsaber, or because sabine secretly wanted to be a jedi. kanan taught her how to use it because he and fenn rau knew she would be challenged once other mandalorians saw her with it. and they were hoping that she could help unite mandalorians, but other mandalorians weren't going to respect her if she couldn't hold her own with the lightsaber.
and if this is some weird way of trying to have sabine carry on the legacy of kanan and ezra, this is a dumb way to do it. there are plenty of other ways she can honor them (the huge beautiful mural she painted on lothal, for one! protecting lothal in general! And uhhh finding ezra?? instead of filoni saying she stuck around lothal the entire war???). and also, by tying her "jedi training" to ahsoka, that's not really honoring kanan and ezra, because they were part of mace windu's jedi legacy, NOT anakin's! (well, yoda's, but you know. for the sake of that quote from filoni, anakin's).
not everything has to be about anakin's lineage! but filoni is making it that way. this jedi training isn't about sabine, it's about ahsoka. and if he's trying to say something about ahsoka suddenly being a teacher, or what her being a teacher says about her past with anakin, i highly doubt he will do it in a way that's interesting or true to the character, because for filoni, ahsoka always has to be perfect and can do no wrong. and yet, even though she refused to teach grogu because of his attachments to din, she's suddenly super okay with teaching sabine, who has way more attachments than grogu??
like if filoni REALLY wanted ahsoka to be a master so badly, jacen syndulla, an actual force sensitive child, is right there. (though, he absolutely should be taught by ezra bc shatterpoint lineage rights).
and if filoni tries pulling some bullshit about how sabine was force sensitive the entire time, that's an insult to sabine's character, and it's a HUGE insult to kanan, who absolutely would have noticed that she was force sensitive.
it just feels like a back-handed way to say that sabine being just a mandalorian isn't good enough (and god forbid we have more than one major mandalorian character in the star wars franchise who isn't din djarin), and that kanan and ezra aren't good enough, it has to be ahsoka that teaches sabine. i already don't have faith that sabine's mandalorian family will get mentioned a whole lot, if at all. and now with her training to be a jedi, it just feels like they're trying to abandon her entire culture. not everyone needs to be a jedi, and not everyone needs to be force sensitive, and not everything needs to be about ahsoka.
and again, i absolutely have nothing against ahsoka as a character. (i don't like rosario's portrayal of her, and don't even like rosario.)
but dave filoni is starting to beat the dead horse by constantly having ahsoka in new star wars media (probably unpopular opinion, but i think ahsoka should've died on malachor like she was supposed to and should never have been brought back by ezra in the WBW. but that's a separate essay).
so now, in what should have been an (animated) rebels sequel, ahsoka is the star. and the rebels characters are going to get the short end of the stick, as usual.
