Honestly I don't think I can stop drawing baby Parker.
I'll most likely get their ref sheet done sometime (along with their siblings'), but for now more of Misfit being a dad!
As usual, Misfit and Mieko has been created by @parisedoodle

And that’s a wrap for Comic Con 2024! Ha, it was a lot of fun, but I really enjoyed dressing up as Mondo today! I even had a couple people recognize him! And a few others just liked the hair, one of whom asked how long it took me to get my hair like that, which tells me that at least it looks natural enough for people to mistake it as my actual hair, ha.
Overall, Comic Con was cool! On Thursday, I attended a live podcast recording for Braving the Elements, which is an Avatar the Last Airbender podcast hosted by Janet Varney and Dante Bosco (the voices of Korra and Zuko, respectively), and I actually got a trivia question right and I should (hopefully…) get an email from them soon to get a prize for answering the question right. If not… oh well. At least I’ll be featured briefly on the podcast answering trivia correctly, even though I usually suck at trivia, ha.
The rest of the days were a bit more meh, but I still had fun. I won a Pokeball ornament from a Hallmark panel, since I knew how many Squirtles were in the Squirtle Squad, aha. Which leaves my trivia score 2 for 2 at the moment.😅 I also got a free shirt and scarf for the upcoming Yakuza live action show, which was neat. I’ve never played Yakuza, but my brother has, so I was able to give him the shirt at least.
Still, while Comic Con was fun, I’m definitely glad it’s over so I can go home and clean up from my frantic cosplay creating the last several weeks, oof.
Also! On the first day I dressed at Taka, but since I was by myself I only have the one photo my dad was able to quickly take of me before he had to drive off and a quick selfie I took in the car.

so glad the hearth timeline is like… slightly more understandable than before. previously i had freminet down as being given to the hearth at about 5, arle killing the previous knave when he was about 8, and the twins being taken in a few months later at about 12 when he was still 8. for my au, that makes them about four years apart, which feels slightly large of an age gap but ultimately it works better than making them a year or two apart.
apparently, canonically arle was 16 when clervie died at 16, 17 when she killed the previous knave, and then spent an unknown amount of time in prison before becoming a harbinger and taking over as the director of the house of hearth.
freminet was taken in during the year between clervie’s death and crucabena’s death. the twins were taken in a few months after that.
if freminet was taken in at 5-6, the twins taken in around 9-10, that keeps the age gap between the trio as well as explains the ~10 year gap between this and canon. that would make freminet 15-16 and the twins 19-20, which fits them really well. i wish arlecchino was older, though; she definitely feels older than ~27.

*Plushtrap is upset*
Dr. Scraptrap: Oh, here we go...
Spring Bonnie: What?
Dr. Scraptrap: Plushtrap’s “squeak of rage.”
Plushtrap: ...
Plushtrap: *High pitched squealing*
Spring Bonnie:
Dr. Scraptrap, chuckling: He’s like a little tea kettle.

here's the issue—we're both chasing time and coming up empty when we dig our hands into the sand and come up with muddy fingers in the afterimage of water that's escaped our cupped palms. there's something stirring in the wake of our footsteps the way dead leaves always resurrect themselves in the autumn wind to fly for a few moments before sinking back into dusty paths for boots to crunch over them in a graceless act of mercy.
here's the issue—it's easier to pretend and wish than it is to look at something twisted and brittle and will it to become what it used to be. healing takes patience that doesn't come easy and daydreams are so easy to sink into in comparison. there are looping worlds of clouds that sting the eyes that take priority over the grimy, unfiltered touch of skin on skin.
here's the issue—at some point, we started wishing we had met when we were kids instead of pressing forward in stubborn abandon for a future we were always clawing to reach. at some point, we settled for the mundane flickering that came with watching the other flit in and out of our lives. at some point, i started going to bed with nothing to share between us but the moon from our separate windows, crescent and mourning. at some point, sinking into your skin felt more like a burden of the soul than it did an insatiable urge to swallow you whole so my insides would be moulded in your afterimage, a space always left for you in the delicate place behind my ribcage.
you left the light on when you left and i've never gotten up to close it. i left your door unlocked when i left and we are both waiting for closure that will never come.
