I feel like we don't need a Sense & Sensibility adaptation that makes Edward macho or charming to make people warm up to him. It's out of character!

People tell me it's a visual medium, well I think what we need instead are the a canonical private scenes between him and Lucy. A proposal where he is 19 and in love. Then his mother makes it clear that she will only support him if he chooses a woman and profession she approves.

Him realizing that he doesn't love Lucy, but she is laying it on thick that she is obsessed with him. He cannot marry without support from his family, he can't break the engagement without feeling horrible. So he just kind of exists, with no idea how to move forward.

Then after Edward meets Elinor and realizes he actually loves her, his visit to Lucy. Maybe he tries to convince her to dissolve the engagement, for her benefit, but Lucy has caught on that he has feelings for Elinor and she gives him the hair ring. She cries and accuses him of not loving her and what is he supposed to do? He can't break this poor girl's heart!

We need the scene where he stoutly refuses to jilt Lucy even though he doesn't love her. And then him at the end totally refusing to grovel to his mother (so many people call him spineless):

“A letter of proper submission!” repeated he; “would they have me beg my mother’s pardon for Robert’s ingratitude to her, and breach of honour to me? I can make no submission. I am grown neither humble nor penitent by what has passed. I am grown very happy; but that would not interest. I know of no submission that is proper for me to make.” (Ch 49)

Edward does need fleshing out, he is not in the book a lot and his merits are often described rather than shown, but the context for all these scenes is there. Maybe you ruin the surprise of his engagement or find a way to show this after the reveal, but I think it would help.

Katniss is such an unreliable narrator. She says "Then something unexpected happens. At least, I don't expect it because I don't think of District 12 as a place that cares about me" girl you deliver strawberries to the Mayor, you hunt and trade for the district, when you fell at Prim being chosen someone caught you, when you went to Prim people parted for you, when you volunteered EVERYONE stopped. Idk how to tell you but I think you're a pillar of the community.

like yeah. at certain ages... let shit go. im not defending the real immature shit. im not defending the karen you're picturing. i worked in retail i hate those people too. (once somebody got mad at me because she didn't like how our winter window decor was a snowman smoking a pipe. i wish i was joking).

but men at 57 will write books about how 17 year old girls are soooo sexy. they will invent worlds where women have to be naked for "armor reasons." they will write songs that treat women as objects. people rush to defend them. meanwhile a woman at 35 will be like "heartbreak is hard, actually" or "i feel betrayed by a friend" or "i am struggling with something emotionally." immediately people will say stuff like this woman is 35 by the way. by the way this woman is SO OLD to be experiencing this. BY THE WAY.

im 31, almost 32. the other day a poet was blasted online because at her "big age", she had written a poem about feeling unloved. top comment was "this woman is 29 by the way." this woman is too old to still be useful, by the way. she has to behave better . maybe if she was a good wife and mother she could stop existing loudly, and the story could continue on without her. this woman has served her purpose, by the way. she's so cringe, by the way. at 29 - so old! - she still hasn't figured out that her existence should be one of shame.

this is a poster i made for my call to action assignment in humanities! it's a bunch of basic and easy stretches for people who sit and work at a desk all day (me)

the idea is that you'd put the poster up above ur desk and do the stretches every 30 minutes or so,, the whole routine won't take more than about 6 minutes to complete and when done regularly it can prevent wrist, shoulder, neck and back pain! :)

all these stretches can be done while sitting (although i HIGHLY recommend you stand up and move around while taking a break from working)
