Did Kaos even explain why the three humans “destined to destroy Zeus/the Gods” are specifically Eurydice, Caeneus and Ariadne? Because if they really wanted a “we hate the gods” story shouldn’t the chosen three be. severely wronged or abandoned by the gods / the fates?
Like Oedipus? Lamia? Cassandra? Daphne? Arachne? Callisto? Hell I’d even watch a smackdown of Clytemnestra vs Artemis or Menelaus and Helen vs Aphrodite any time then watch a whole other boring show following the same bad story tropes.
They don’t really explain it no, but I was so eager for it to be over I likely missed it, this show seems surprising hesitant to show the more gruesome side of mythology, if they adapted the story that Caeneus was raped by Poseidon and they show how angry and miserable he is about it I would’ve totally been on board, tho someone mentioned that considering the current social environment is especially hostile towards trans ppl nowadays, having someone transition after assault could be bad “pr” so to speak, tho I don’t think we should bend a knee to transphobes/terfs and make representation that’s more palatable and presentable, human experience is messy and we shouldn’t shy away from that in an attempt to make bigots less hostile towards minorities bc they will always be hostile.
If they show Eurydice being angry about Aristaeus not facing any consequences for trying to assault her I’d understand that too mythology Eurydice has zero beef with Hera, but she could feel resentment towards Aristaeus and by extension Apollo (since he’d likely defend his son), gods rarely face consequences for assaulting mortals, Euripides’s Ion tackles that subject way better than all of these “Gods bad” modern retelling (tho I wish Creusa didn’t forgive Apollo bc that mf didn’t even have the balls to show his face).
Instead of Ariadne, who usually gets a happy ending and becomes a goddess herself, how about going with Apemosyne? Another Cretan princess. Her story is extremely depressing, she’s screwed over by a god and her own family, considering that half the show takes place in the underworld she’d fit right in. Considering she’ll be “coworkers” with Hermes it would especially suck for her. But considering that Dionysus is made to be one of the “good ones” even tho in mythology he brainwashed women into slaughtering their families, they’d probably portray Hermes as such too, since he’s usually simply the comic relief in adaptations anyway.
That’s another thing, they water down the gods who are supposed to be good guys and make the “bad guy” worse, in this version Hades never kidnapped Persephone that’s just propaganda in universe. The Fates and Furies are goddesses but in this show they’re against the gods bc of that meander water thing? Don’t they drink it too?
I think they realized that their hesitancy means that they won’t be showing us bad things the gods actually did and so they make up random bullshit like Hera owning tongueless priestesses and Zeus killing a kitten. Cassandra is in the show but she’s more of an exposition machine tho it’s hinted she’ll play a bigger role in season 2, but why couldn’t she be one of the three humans destined to destroy Zeus? Why aren’t any of the Trojans destined to destroy Zeus? Why do they have to be saved by Greeks? Sure Zeus in mythology had a soft spot for them but he still planned the destruction of their city (could be a decent metaphor for an abuser who says that they love their victim while still abusing them imo) but Kaos Zeus doesn’t have that goodwill towards the Trojans so why not have them rightfully take him down? In the final episode Andromache and Ariadne team up and agree to fight against Olympus, tho that reminds me of Acrisius in the Clash of the Titans remake being more of a dumb dumb than he is in the myths and started a war against Mount Olympus only to unsurprisingly fail.
I really dislike how the Trojans are portrayed in the show, clearly they are supposed to be allegory for modern middle eastern refugees in Europe yet all the main Trojan characters are played by white actors. They have such a racially diverse cast but they seem uninterested in actually representing the diversity of the Mediterranean and mythology as a whole.

What if... yan prince, with knight apprentice reader? Reader's father was the army cheif and she's the daughter who is ambitious, wanting to become just like her father in future.
Where does the prince comes in the story. They are playdates. But instead of playing house they play with swords, bows and arrows. As they grow up, the reader is assigned as his personal guard, but after a near death experience for reader while saving the prince, he realizes that how much more precious his knight is to him. Like a rare treasure. One he wishes to keep himself only.
Ps: the prince was originally very mischievous and childish, dragging reader everywhere with him and getting into trouble as well.
-🌼
Yandere! Male! Emperor x knight! fem! Reader
Finally! This yandere ⸜(。˃ ᵕ ˂ )⸝♡
If you've read Eros' story, you would know that there is an Imperial family, and that there is a crown prince which is Yuno, but if you've read Aeron's, there's a new bloodthirsty emperor in town. And, in an ask, I confirmed it's not Yuno. So who is it?
Also, thanks for the other asks, 🌼anon! Even those which are not requests. I've read them all and appreciate them ৻( •̀ ᗜ •́ ৻)
BY THE WAY, HAPPY NEW YEARS! This my gift uwu
Well, let's see, shall we?
Yandere! Emperor name: Callisto (yes, name is from Villains are Destined to Die manhwa (´▽`)❀.)
TW: Misogynism, literal pet names (dog)
Tumblr media
Callisto.
Quite the arrogant kid. A brat, someone who thinks highly of himself because he's a prince, and a smug piece of--
Anyways...
Born as the Emperor's fifth child and the third son, he's always faded into the background. That's why he acts up in order to get into his father's radar.
His mother, a travelling dancer, got pregnant by the Emperor when they met at the fare. She immediately rose to become a concubine, and due to her ethereal beauty, Callisto inherited her looks.
And despite not being the crown prince, Callisto is favoured by the Emperor due to his mother being the apple of the Emperor's eye.
So other than being an arrogant mama's boy, what are his redeeming qualities?
Well...
He's smart, and actually politically intelligent. Even though he's still quite young, he grasped the way a monarchy run and how the state is affected by the aristocrats and the Imperial family's decision. He sometimes pipe up to say opinions and queries that even adult nobles cannot comprehend.
Why is this guy not the crown prince yet?
Callisto, having a rivalry with the current crown prince, Yuno, always bullied the boy.
Due to the current Empress being out of favor due to the Emperor's new concubine, Callisto, despite being younger than Yuno for two years, eagerly pushed down Yuno down. Somewhere he apparently belongs.
Everyday, whenever they meet at the academy, Callisto always finds a way to humiliate the boy. Tripping him, ripping his uniform, dumping dirt or bugs, anything.
This created a weird superiority + inferiority complex inside Yuno as he runs to his fiance.
Well, Callisto doesn't care.
His mother asked the Emperor to not give Callisto a fiance yet, saying that he "needs to find true love like how they met each other". When in reality, His mother is cunning, and wants to find a fiance for him personally. Someone easy to rope into their side and not be a perpetual spy for the other princes, princesses, and concubines. Especially the Empress'.
And so, even though Callisto doesn't have a fiance, he does a companion.
From the rigorous trickling of numerous proposals into one, you emerged victorious.
Someone who serves the Imperial Family, but is known to be quite the strong opposition to the Emperor who keeps him checked, the Captain of the Imperial Knights. He's married, and had a family with you as the daughter.
Strong, upright, and righteous, you inherited your father's sense of duty yet the strong sense of camaraderie and service to the people. Same as Callisto, despite being young, you had quite the righteous view of the world. Someone so helpful yet to nihilistic towards the Imperial Family even in a not so direct way.
The first time you two met was unfavorable.
He immediately tossed a sword to your way and without a moment of hesitation, tried to stab you. You parried quite well, making Callisto smirk in arrogance as he hopped back.
He found you interesting. A girl, wanting to be a knight? Preposterous!
Yet, admirable.
He liked seeing you scramble to keep up with lessons.
Sure, you're talented, but that made people hate you more due to your gender.
So, why not help, right?
Callisto would always watch you practice. His eyes never leaving you as you struggled to fight with the misogynistic teacher, the arrogant teammates, and the pressure burdening you.
And, when it got too much, he would interrupt the lessons by tossing a sword to you again and sparring.
It did stop the bullying momentarily, but god did it put you in trouble.
Drills upon drills, they punished you for interrupting the lessons despite Callisto doing it! The reason why it's you? It's because he's a prince, and the son of the beloved Concubine.
Of course.
This made your relationship with Callisto wonky. More like an enemies forced to be together for politics. But in a platonic way.
And years passed...
Tumblr media
Callisto, now 22 years old, finds himself watching his stupid crown prince of a brother fumble his fiance as he dances with a random girl named Elisia.
Sure, she's pretty, but he always thought Yuno is head over heels for his fiance.
"Pfft. Such a fucking disgrace." He cracked his neck and got off the pillar to go to his father, the Emperor.
The Emperor is rightfully angry, seeing his son humiliate him over and over again.
"Father, I think you should really reconsider his position now." Callisto whispered, watching as Yuno pull Elisia to the balcony to do god knows what. "Hell, i'd rather have that weirdo of a hero who suddenly appeared one day to be the crown prince."
Callisto frowned as he remembered the man who suddenly appeared in the throne room. Now a Marquis, Aeron is steadily becoming a powerful man, and Callisto intends to bring him to his side once he...
He looked at the Emperor who shivered in fear from the mention of Aeron. He remembered how the Emperor sent that man to a suicide mission. It was honestly disgusting, but Callisto can't do anything other than try to send him party members.
"Yet those fuckers continue to betray him. What the fuck." He mumbled to himself before clearing his throat. "Father, what do you think? I even think Duke Eros is good for the position."
Duke Eros also, an eccentric man. Cold blooded and someone sharp, yet invents these infrastructures and weird devices that pioneers technology. A term he coined. An odd fellow, but Callisto likes the Duke due to being one of the people who can oppose the Emperor without that much backlash and resistance due to his own power and authority.
He's also someone who Callisto needs to look out about.
Honestly, the Emperor is never a good man. He's a greedy man, creating enemies left and right due to his pride and his habit of stealing money from the coffers of the people. Tax money? Pocketed. Jewels? Stolen. Government? Corrupt. Everything is fucked up in his reign that Callisto is having a hard time thinking of what to do.
So, why not usurp the throne?
His mother, who rose to be the Empress, has laid down a path for him. And all he has to do is to follow diligently.
His eyes scanned the ballroom to find his sweet little playmate.
There you are, eyes scanning the crowd for potential threats and assassins.
He felt bad, not letting you know of the plans. But he needs to do this. If he wants you to survive the usurpation, keeping you in the dark is what he needs to do.
The Emperor grunted, finally relenting to his son's will.
"Alright. I'm taking off Yuno from the crown prince position." The Emperor said, rubbing his temples.
Callisto secretly smirked, one of his plans finally bearing fruit.
"Thank you father. That will be enough. I don't think Yuno is qualified to be the next Emperor. He's too... Impulsive, and doesn't see the path you laid down for him." Callisto praised him, fueling the Emperor's Ego and lowering Yuno's reputation more.
"Yes yes... Go forth and call my Prime Minister. I need to discuss Yuno's abdication as soon as possible." Callisto nodded before going away from the ball to call the prime Minister.
Of course, you're diligently following him like the puppy you are.
And yes, you became his personal guard after graduating from the Knight training. Sure, you could have joined the ranks, yet Callisto here asked his father to make you his personal guard.
Not able to reject an order from the Emperor, you had no choice but to comply to his wishes.
"Hey, you're on my side, right?" Callisto asked, suddenly stopping in the middle of the long hallway. The moonlight filtering through the giant windows made an eerie yet despondent shadow on Callisto as you cleared your throat.
"Yes, your highness." You muttered.
"Then, let this be a test if you are actually on my side."
Suddenly, the windows broke, shattering the glass and the protective barrier placed on the palace.
Immediately, you unsheathed your sword and dashed to attack the intruder who crashed through the window. Cloaked with a dagger in hand, he tried to reach Callisto who's only leaning on the wall with his arms crossed.
"Your highness! Please run!" You yelled, pushing back the assassin as you prepared for another collision.
"Nah. I actually want to see this." He chuckled and watched your body move and glide across the hall to fight off this unusually strong opponent.
Callisto's eyes was enticed by the way your form flexed under pressure and under the force of such a strong oponent.
Seeing you struggle and not complain was enough for him.
"Okay, big girl. Come on let's stop this. Just kill the man."
But before he could come up to you and help you stop the assassin, he saw you kill the assassin and look at him in a shocked stare.
It happened so fast.
He felt you grab his body as you shielded him with yours.
Then, a warm liquid spilling onto him.
His eyes zeroed on an another cloaked man with a dagger, stabbing your shoulder.
You slumped down on his.
You felt soft, warm, yet he oddly felt lightheaded.
When he came to his wits once more, he's cradling your body with the cloaked man's body mangled on the floor.
Carrying you, he ran to the royal hospital. He's soaked in blood, your blood.
He felt helpless for the first time as he demanded for one of his servants to call for his mother.
Yeah, maybe his mother would know what to do as you fought for your life.
It felt like a blur as he saw his mother run to him, carrying her heavy gown as she kneeled to him. Oh? Callisto is kneeling? When did that happen?
He felt his mother brush away his tears. Tears? When did that happen too?
Once more, a blur as he fainted.
He feels like he's floating on the sea as he confronted a man. He also looks the same age as him, maybe a bit older. The man looked at him with a smile.
There and then, the man, who proclaimed himself as god, told Callisto that he's the protagonist of a "media". He forgot if it's a novel or whatever a videogame is, but he knows that he's the most favored character of this god.
He scoffed.
"So, if I am the favored one, then why..." His voice shook. "WHY IS MY BELOVED FIGHTING FOR HER LIFE FOR ME?!"
It took almost everything inside of him to admit that he loves you, but he doesn't care anymore.
The god whispered that it's the part of the plot, and that he should just let fate run its course. He assured Callisto that you will be okay.
Callisto nodded, heaving a bit before giving the god a cold glare.
"So, if I am this protagonist, this ever so important character..." Callisto murmured. "I can get away with anything... Right?"
"Right?"
Tumblr media
The sheath of a sword, and a heavy, wet plop on the carpeted floor became the backdrop for the sound of victorious yells.
Callisto sighed, cracking his neck as he got out of the castle, and out of the Kingdom to their East.
"Emperor Callisto! What shall we do with the captured servants?" One of the knights asked, and Callisto cleared his throat, thinking.
"Put them in the dungeon back in the Empire. I still have to think on what to do with them."
With the knights bowing, they dispersed as Callisto immediately teleported back to the Palace.
After learning that the previous Emperor was the one who sent the assassins, he almost broke his facade.
It seems that the Empress didn't seduce the Emperor enough to make sure he didn't doubt Callisto.
Yet, he doesn't care about that.
He only cared about the fact that the Emperor almost killed you.
With the guarantee that he won't have any dire consequences due to being the "protagonist", he immediately went to Marquis Aeron to assassinate the Emperor with his sprites.
Aeron gladly did it, giving two sprites to Callisto as they phased through the walls and kill off the Emperor in his sleep.
And, while the chaos of the sudden death of the Emperor, he challenged Yuno to a duel for the throne. Yuno, who just got his engagement annulled and watched as his fiance became Duke Eros', he's scrambling to bring back his pride and dignity.
Yet, the "protagonist" cheat proved right as he won by landslide. Beating Yuno black and blue and becoming Emperor.
His mother, proud as her son finally took the path she intended for him to have, became Empress dowager.
Where are you in this situation?
You were in a coma like state. The dagger, having poison, took a toll on your body. So, you did not witness the way he avenged you and took the throne for himself.
And when you woke up, you only heard of the assassination, and knew he's behind it.
"Callisto! You killed your father?!" You confronted him, appalled. And Callisto, surprised by your anger, only laughed in disbelief.
He avenged you, and you're angry? "Yeah, I did."
"You know that all of the people in this Empire knew you're the one who assassinated the Emperor." You glowered.
"How do you even know that?" Callisto smirked, shrugging as he took a seat on the throne. "They don't. You're deceiving yourself, big girl."
"Do not call me that." Your jaw tightened, eyes in anger and annoyance. "They will know. I just feel it."
Callisto frowned. How dare you say that when he's the protagonist? He's practically invincible.
"Are you threatening me, y/n?" He stood up. Suddenly, he didn't feel like the childhood friend you have. He feels imposing, too far for you to reach, a wall so thick you can't even comprehend.
"I avenged you. I killed my father for you. Those assassins? He ordered for them to kill me." He laughed, eyes wide with annoyance. "And you, a mere woman dares to not see the grace I gave?"
You laughed in disbelief.
DId he just...
"And I do thank you y/n for shielding me. It made me realize something. Your loyalty is something I need by my side."
He held out his hand, holding out for you to grab.
"Be my Empress. You're my most loyal dog. And you have a good eye for politics." Callisto proposed. "I can spoil you greatly, give you riches beyond your dreams. Just be my pretty, loyal, dog, or doll. If you're into that."
You gripped your hand into a fist, eyes ablaze with anger.
"I will not. Women are not mere dogs, nor do I need to say yes to your proposal." You spat out. "And I am not going to be yours. Never yours."
When did he become such a deplorable man? Someone so full of himself? He already was, but at least he's logical and never demeaning.
But this?
"I will correct myself. I knew that the people will know that it's you because you're the only one who is close to Marquis Aeron and Duke Eros, two of the well known opposition to the Emperor before, amongst the Imperial children. And you used Marquis' sprites, which only those who defeated the demon king can wield. And, Marquis Aeron is not the emperor now, but you. HIS FRIEND." You smirked bitterly.
"What? People are stupid! They won't realize that!"
"HAH!" You rasped out. "Even still, it will instill doubt in them. Other than that, I will abdicate myself as your personal guard. Fuck. You. Callisto."
Callisto's eyes widened as you turned your back to him, marching outside with a slam.
When he came back to his wits, he seethed in frustration and decided to take a breather. Anger is riddling him.
But once he calmed down and tried to summon for you, he just heard from your father that you ran away.
He scoffed.
As if you can run away from him.
But you disappeared. With such a meticulous way to vanish, nobody can track you at all.
As if you never existed in the first place.
He felt his body run cold.
Where did you go?
Where did you vanish to?
"Y/N!!"
He went mad trying to find you, tirelessly combing through the Empire without stopping.
It was only a year later that a lead was given.
You're out of the Empire. That's it.
Manic, Callisto decided to do the extreme to scare you out.
Now known as the warfreak Emperor, he reigned fear and blood onto other territories as he decimated every place just to find you.
His blood running cold, his time running out, and his patience running thin,
Once he finds you, you know you can't escape from his shackles. Literal or not.
And he will continue the bloodshed for you.
And this heavy burden and sin will be on your shoulder the longer you don't return to his arms.

My top Isekai/roFan webcomics (I have read far too many) (and will continue to do so)
Who made me a princess. Gorgeous art and gorgeous story.
The Fantasie of A Stepmother. Also gorgeous art, and a beautiful story. Focus on found family, with a smart protagonist. (I'm obsessed with Nora and Shuri).
The Wicked Tale of Cinderella's Stepmom. One of my favourites. MC wakes up in the body of Mildred, the mother of two daughters and her step-daughter Cinderella. The relationship between the girls and our MC is so well written, and the romance is *chef's kiss*. It's more Josie vibes, and has a realistic portrayal of aristocratic society. MC is a mama bear; don't get on her bad side!
Why Raeliana Left The Duke's Mansion. This now has an anime adaptation, for good reason. MC and ML are smart, and now writing this list I want to go re-read it haha.
The Perks of Being an S Class Heroine. This one is hilarious, and the plot and pacing is so good. It starts with a tutorial period with all the MC's as kids first, so the romance isn't central so far, but I love our FL and the plot and all the characters are interesting.
Wall of Glass. Okay this one is historical rather than fantasy BUT it is so good highly recommend if you want a more realistic portrayal of the class system (I think it's set in Victorian England). Our FL is a noble lady who gets a big wake up when her father sadly dies and their estate is bankrupt, so she has to work and earn money. ML is the opposite - he is a commoner who has worked his way up and hates the nobility. They first meet when she's a noble, then later when she's a governess. (If you happen to like the book North and South by Elizabeth Gaskell I recommend this comic & vice versa. If you like Austen then PLEASE read North and South!).
Villains Are Destined To Die. I absolutely love Penelope and Callisto's dynamic, and I really like our MC. They just work so well together. I like Callisto's sardonic personality. (Also, he's a major simp for her. Literally jumps blind into danger for her; and he feels safe with her because he knows she's got his back too.) CW for abusive parent/siblings - not physical, but emotional and neglectful, and I think the MC has an unhealthy relationship with food. Because of her abuse she is malnourished and has gut problems (mentioned in her past life), and when she's anxious/stressed she completely forgets to eat, but all of this is discussed in the novel. The fact that Penelope dismisses it as no big deal is questioned by other characters, such as our devastatingly handsome ML. The plot/world lore is hella also interesting.

Why Hera Isn't The Jealous Wife You Think She is ...
Yes, you read that right.
One of the biggest misconceptions about Hera in modern popular culture is that she's waiting in the dark, ready to strike out at Zeus' next extramarital affair and bastard child, but, eh ... that paints an largely inaccurate depiction of what's ACTUALLY going on.
Firstly, Zeus has somewhere between 92 to 100 children (I'm not kidding when I say there's literally a entire book written about this subject) whereas you can literally count all of the women and children Hera had a problem with, on both hands.
Aegina (mother of Aeacus)
Leto (mother of Artemis and Apollo)
Io (mother of Epaphus)
Elara (mother of Tityos)
Callisto (mother of Arcas)
Semele (mother of Dionysus)
Alcmene (mother of Herakles)
Lamia (mother of Akheilos)
Persephone (mother of Zagreus)
Aphrodite (mother of Priapus)
Aëtos (the only man)
Yup, that's literally ALL OF THE TIMES Hera has gone 'woman scorned'. Two of the aforementioned examples are not even 'canon' (Persephone and Aphrodite), and while it may still seem like a lot by itself, doing the math you realize that it's only 7-10% since it's ZEUS we're talking about. Sometimes she'll entirely leave the moms alone and exclusively go after the kids, sometimes she'll mostly go after the mom and otherwise leave the kids alone, sometimes she'll go after both ... Not saying that what Hera does isn't disproportionate, especially if they were victims of SA, but with Io, it was little more than harmless trolling and she usually gets over it eventually (Leto is the only one she's still salty about).
(Also does anyone else notice that she never went after Zeus' daughters? It's not a coincidence when that Dionysus was raised as a girl to protect him from Hera's wrath!)
Why are these ones the only ones she got upset about? Well, it's not because they were especially loved by Zeus (only Leto, Semele, and Alcmene), or that their kids were dearer to him than Hera's (only Leto, Semele, and Alcmene). Hell, in The Iliad, when Zeus listed off his greatest loves to Hera, he only mentioned Leto, Semele, and Alcmene. Rather, it's the catharsis effect. See, Hera is the long-suffering-in-silence wife, who willingly turns a blind eye to Zeus' 'sex-capades', because that's what she knowingly signed up for, until her resentment builds up overtime and indiscriminately explodes onto whomever is his current flavour of the week. Sure, there may be other contributing factors at play as to why she targets these specific women (e.g. Semele is a priestess and Hera's great-granddaughter through Ares, Io is her priestess, etc.), but all in all, Hera is the woman wearing the queenly mask and heavy is the head who wears the crown.
Why did I say that Hera knew what she signed up for? Zeus is the King of Gods (so King of Kings), and real life kings in Ancient Greece (and elsewhere!) were polygamists - one queen consort and as many concubines as he desired. The Queen Consort's role is to manage the harem and her sons are automatically considered next in line to the throne. Hera is listed as Zeus' third wife (Metis as his first and Themis as his second) and the only one who is ever acknowledged as Queen (because his previous marriages occurred BEFORE he ascended to the throne post-Titanomachy - Rhea was Queen Dowager after they overthrew Cronus), but he also has Eurynome, Demeter, Mnemosyne, Leto, Maia, and co. as his concubines. Notice how with the sole exception of Leto, Hera never got mad about the goddesses Zeus knocked up. That's because if they bear Zeus a child, they're automatically the newest addition to his harem. Leto is the sole goddess to ever bear the brunt of Hera's wrath, because she's that favourite concubine who poses a potential threat to Hera (if you catch my drift).
(If you want a better understanding of harem politics, then watch any Chinese palace drama.)
I'd also like to mention that in Ancient Greece, it was legal to murder your husband's mistresses, and so what Hera did wasn't wrong or illegal in the eyes of Ancient Greeks. It was, in fact, probably cathartic since women had to live in the fear of being cast out onto the streets if their husband decided to divorce them for another wife. Moreover, Hera, as the Queen consort, had the authority to cast any disciplinary action on any women and children of the harem as she saw fit. In the eyes of the law, children of the concubine were always servants to children of the wife. That's what Jason was trying to do to Medea by the way, and why she reacted in the way she did (killing the other woman and even her own children).
Zeus and Hera, as hard as it may be for some to believe, is/were THE OTP of the Hellenistic religion, even if the myths depict them as an marriage of convenience at best (because the Ancient Greeks liked to project their own sociocultural norms onto their mythology). Still, I can personally understand that. In ancient China, the Emperor was the dragon and father of the nation, the Empress was the phoenix and mother of the nation. There was even a saying that the Emperor and Empress were two bodies with one mind. Even if people knew the truth about royal marriages behind closed doors, they were still revered as the Perfect Couple in the public sphere.

The maze scene but make it silly and with innuendos
Because I always make fun of Callisto being the one to instigate the silly, I want Penelope to do it this time. This came about after re-reading that scene when they first meet and I thought… what could she say differently that was just so silly. With help from @eloise175, also… we really shouldn’t be left alone together.
Callisto holding a sword to Penelope’s throat looking menacing and mocking: Why do you love me? Go on, tell me why you fell in love with me?
Penelope: Because you’re shiny!
Callisto freezes in shock: Shiny? (He’s been called many things, most of them weren’t good but never shiny!)
Penelope thinking back to her reputation: I like shiny things and your hair looks like spun gold and your eyes look like rubies.
Callisto: ??? (Just stares at her, sword steady and level as he tries to process what happened.)
Penelope internally: Oh thank god, I can escape now. (Tries to back away subtly but is foiled.)
Callisto: What else?
Penelope thinks back to all the stereotypical western teenagers and in Korea from her world and time, all those things she studied to fit in with her new classmates at university: You’re hot.
Callisto: I’m what?
Penelope: You have a handsome face and probably a fine body under those clothes from all the training you do. It makes me drool just thinking about it and I want jump you. (Penelope in her mind: maybe I should just die, it would be better if he killed me now.)
Callisto: … (Callisto.exe has crashed; please reboot)
Callisto tries to save face: It seems more like you’re in lust with me, rather than in love.
Penelope: Is there a difference right now? I haven’t talked to you, and I’ve only seen you in passing. Love and lust are the same right now.
Penelope: Also, your voice is fine and smooth like butter.
Callisto: I don’t understand?
Penelope: It means I like your voice, it’s nice and seductive. (Penelope eyes possible exists and just keeps saying things without thinking them through.)
Penelope: You’re such a babygirl
Callisto: Did you just call me a babygirl? (Now he does feel some indignation)
Penelope: Yes I did, you know, you’re so good looking I just wanna take care of you. You’re so scrunkly.
Callisto: What does that even mean? I think you’re just making up words.
Penelope: Scrunkly, an animal or creature that’s weird or unorthodox but still so cute.
Callisto: Did you just… just call me an animal?
Penelope: Well, if you’re an animal, I think mating season has come. (Penelope is dead, very dead. She can feel her soul leaving her body with each word she says and yet she can’t stop. Still, she’s resorted to dropping innuendos in hopes that he’d be so weirded out that he’d walk away without killing her.)
Callisto is shook. He knows the adopted daughter of Eckhart was crazy but not this crazy or wanton… and yet… it was appealing and exciting.
Penelope gestures to his pants: Well, I don’t much care for the sword at my neck, but you can definitely pierce me with the one down there any time. Think of me like something to conquer. (Abort, abort, abort. She thinks desperately. Shut up.)
Despite her wishes, her mouth keeps moving, and not towards rationality, it just prolongs her torture. Death by beheading wasn’t so bad, at least she’d stop talking.
Penelope: If someone asked me what I wanted for dinner, it’s you. I’m so hungry, I want a taste.
Callisto eyes her in shock. These were not words that should be coming out of a Lady’s mouth, he didn’t think he’d ever heard phrases come out of anyone’s mouth before. It was bawdy without actually being too vulgar. He wants to be offended, he really does, but…
Penelope: Please? I’m thirsty, can I have a sip? Just a sip, please? I promise I don’t bite… much. (Penelope internally: Can I turn on that damned game system now? Please?)
Penelope: If we got stuck in a closet, one of us would be walking out pregnant, and it wouldn’t be me.
Eventually, Callisto lets her go, too surprised and shook to actually process everything, especially the last part because that wasn’t possible at all, unless she was a powerful mage. And Penelope leaves no worse for wear, except her dignity, that died a traitor’s death.
-
-
BONUS: The Cave Scene: Or Callisto gives his rebuttals because you can damn well know that he’s not letting this go and it’ll live rent free in his mind. And she’s avoided him when he tried to press her for more coherent answers, had even neglected to reply to him.
Penelope waking up in the cave: GAHH!!! Why are you naked? (Covers her eyes)
Callisto: Why are you covering you’re eyes? You wanted to see what was under my clothes anyway, and I hope it doesn’t disappoint. You certainly didn't.
Penelope: You… you shameless pervert.
Callisto: Oh? I'm the pervert now? What happened to the audacious woman who kept saying such filthy things to me to seduce me?
Penelope stares at him with a look of disbelief.
Callisto: Oh? How could you be so cold to me? Aren’t I scrunkly? Aren’t I your babygirl?
Penelope: … I'm going back to sleep.
Penelope can't actually sleep and keeps having flashbacks to it, Callisto hugs her, and tells her the story. And the conversation proceeds the same. Except instead of asking her what she liked about him…
Callisto: So, is your assessment correct, Princess?
Penelope: What?
Callisto: Is my body as 'fine' as you thought? Am I really that hot?
Penelope without thinking: Yes (Realizes what she said and blushes and buries her face into his chest and then almost dies of embarrassment when she realizes what she just did)
Callisto: It certainly seems like it based on how you're reacting.
Penelope: …
Callisto: My sword is ready for the piercing and the conquests.
Penelope bites her lips unable to say anything because he’s responding to everything she’s saying. She realized he’s pulled the ultimate reverse uno on her, and weeks after the fact too.
Callisto: Are you hungry? We can have a small snack if you want. But why stop at a sip and a taste? Let’s make this into a full meal!
Penelope: …
Callisto: Perhaps my voice alone can get you ready, we’d need to mop up after we’ve spilled our drinks.
Penelope admits to herself that he does have an amazing voice. But she’s still refusing the temptation. She wants to live thank you very much.
Callisto: We’re both still overdressed it seems. We really need to read the invitations carefully. This cave has a zero clothing policy.
Penelope tries to shut him up, when he stops her from slapping him, she kisses him which was the wrong move, or maybe it was the right one? Because it eventually devolved.
Callisto when they finally stopped: Respectfully, Emperor Claudius himself couldn’t pull me out of you. (Callisto thinks of his famous ancestor, an accomplished general, who had a story about a sword in a stone who won the throne over his half brother.)
In the aftermath, Penelope would wake up in a tangle of limbs, naked, and very well ‘conquered’ by the Crown Prince. She also gets to live, survives the game and all. And… exactly nine months after that night, a little dragon like girl was born to them. They named her Judith.
But Callisto, the new Emperor had one last thing to say to his wife as they hold their new born later not even minutes after she’s handed to them: Well, it wasn’t exactly locked in a closet, but I wasn’t the one who walked out of there pregnant.
Penelope smiles sweetly at him, motions for him to come closer so she can kiss him. He leans forward eagerly, closes his eyes. Penelope taking advantage of it, shifts Judith in one hand and slaps him hard.

Lyric is rambling about Epic the musical whauh woah
spoilers read more just in case you havent heard it yet. also trigger warning for typical greek mythology references like rape, torture, ect.
Not Sorry For Loving You
I'm not a fan of this song! I've never been a fan of the slow romantic songs in the musical, and I never particularly liked Love in Paradise either so. But I do like the parallels between the two songs, and Calypso's story is one that facinates me because she was punished for assisting her father Atlas and the other Titans during the Titan war. She's literally doomed by the narrative.
Dangerous
Sad in the start, reminecent of Full Speed Ahead, but with the sadder, more melancholic instrumental that would fit with The Underworld. When Hermes enters with "All you have to do is not open this bag", it's a direct parallel to Aeolus' in Keep Your Friends Close, which leads to Odysseus bring betrayed by his crew, but now it's just Ody alone.
Odysseus sounds so tired, like he's a man being beaten down at every turn, but his voice perks up when Hermes arrives; The last time Hermes showed up, he gave Odysseus the Moly flower to drain Circe's power, which lead to his victory. There's a spark of hope in his tone, and that's clear.
Odysseus sounds mostly more awake and like himself as he speaks with Hermes, who's his usual silly (/pos) self. Hermes' whole demeaner is a bit more serious than it was in Wouldn't You Like, with less of his jokes and general humor, he's giggling but it feels like he's laughing almost out of pity for Odysseus, the man who's been beaten down so badly.
"Well, it's a little bit dangerous, my friend, you'll need a mindset change for this, you cannot get away with safe, for this, you wanna get home? Put it all on the line"
Hermes is trying to tell Odysseus that he needs to leave his regrets and his guilt behind in order to succeed, that in order to get home, he needs to basically wipe the blood from his hands. He needs to be smart, clever, quick, like he was when he fought the Trojans, like when he tricked Polyphemus to drink wine with lotus in it. But he also needs to be merciless, be ruthless.
Hermes tells Odysseus to follow the North Star, which serves as a guiding factor for many sailors. The North Star is part of the Constellation Ursa Minor, and in Greek Mythology, Ursa Major and Ursa Minor refer to the story of Callisto and her son Arcas. In some version in the myth, Callisto was a follower of Artemis, Maiden Goddess of the Hunt, though was raped by Zeus (disguised as Artemis). This caused Callisto to break Artemis' Celibacy rule, and she was turned into a bear (In varying versions of the Myth, it can be by Hera, out of jealousy, Zeus, to placate Hera's rage, or Artemis, out of anger of Callisto breaking the celibacy rule). She gave birth to her son Arcas, who grew up to be a hunter himself, which eventually lead him to find his mother as a bear and attempt to kill her, thinking she was a wild bear. Before she could die, either Zeus or Artemis decided to turn Callisto and Arcas into constellations, Ursa Major and Ursa Minor. This really doesn't have anything to do with the song, but I just really like sharing my Greek Mythology brainrot. Also it's another tale of the gods ruining the lives of their followers.
Anyways, Hermes directs Odysseus to follow the North Star without hesitation, to fight any monsters that attack, and then we get to the wind bag!
Hermes says "Keep the bag closed if you wanna get home, sir", reminding Odysseus of the fact that he was alone now, that he was the only one that he could trust, and the Winions make their return, the melody and tone a direct, albiet more melancholic reference to Keep Your Friends Close. The Winions sing "It was meant to stop you by design" as a reference to Poseidon's storm, which he'd created with the desire to kill Odysseus for harming his son.
Odysseus regains his typical confidence and hubris by now, and sings that "I'm gonna use ruthlessness" as a direct callback to Poseidon's song from the Ocean saga, Ruthlessness. In the end, Odysseus thanks Hermes as he did back during Wouldn't You Like, but instead of Hermes replying, "Don't thank me, friend, you very may well die" like last time, he sings, "Don't thank me, friend, I'm not the one who fought for you", referencing Athena's trials in God Games.
Charybdis
This is actually the first time I'm listening to this song in full, so new songs yippee, but I'm not hearing many references to the other songs.
Odysseus' typical hubris is fully back now, pride and confidence echoing as he taunts Charybdis due to already knowing the sea monster's attacks thanks to Hermes.
Odysseus finally manages to see the beach of Ithaca, so close to his son and wife, the only minor callback to The Horse and The Infant where he calls for Penelope.
I do like the leadin for Get in the Water, though. Odysseus realizing what was happening.
Get in the Water
I love this song, it was one of the first clips I heard from Epic, next to Warrior of the Mind! Steven Rodrigeus did a fantastic job as Poseidon, and you can tell he absolutely adored the role and put his heart into it. He actually sounds livid, like Jorge had offended him personally, and I love that for actors/singers.
Get in the Water starts out similarly to Ruthlesness, with the raging storms and angry waters, albiet without the crew's voices calling out to Poseidon, making it more eerie.
"There you are...
Coward."
Poseidon's voice is full of irritation, like an irate child having his toy taken away. He's angry that Odysseus managed to get away last time, using the wind bag to escape, and he didn't want it to happen again. His voice is almost eerily calm a couple of times he orders him to get in the water, like he was on his last nerve with Odysseus, and it shows. Every lyric shows how Poseidon is feeling, rage and mercilessness towards Odysseus.
"Maybe you could learn to forgive?"
"...no."
A god doesn't need to do anything, he doesn't want to give a mortal the time of day, after everything he's done to disrespect him. And throwing him to the sea, letting him drown, leading to...
Six Hundred Strike
OKAY SO I originally thought that Get in the Water was going to be my favorite UNTIL I saw an animatic for Six Hundred Strike.
youtube
It's this one. This is my favorite. THE SYMBOLISM, THE IMAGERY, EVERYTHING ABOUT IT MAKES ME FOAM AT THE MOUTH.
I enjoyed Duvetbox's animatics beforehand, but this one specifically shows the absolute care they put into the animatics they make, the attention to detail and willingness to follow their own heart in their thoughts.
First off, Odysseus in the water, trying to grab at the wind bag desperately for a way to escape being dragged to the depths, a call back to the way he used the wind bag to escape originally in Ruthlessness.
"I don't think you get it; I can't afford to die, because I will get back to my son, and I will get back to my WIFE!"
Odysseus is using his cleverness to fight, using the wind bag to serve as a weapon, deflecting and escaping all of Poseidon's attacks using it. Only one weapon draws the God of the Sea's Ichor (God Blood), being Poseidon's own trident. This leads Odysseus to clash open the wind bag (With a picture of Aeolus in the sky, since they're the wind god). It catches Poseidon off guard, and he taunts that Odysseus wouldn't get home because he released Poseidon's storm.
Odysseus uses Poseidon's spear to hurt Poseidon, knowing he couldn't kill him, but could torture him. His words are full of sorrow, regret, and vengence as he attacks, and Duvetbox does a fantastic job at portraying this in their animatic.
"After everything you've done, how will you sleep at night?"
"Next to my wife."

Sometimes I cry at the sheer audacity of this moment. Then I sit in thoughtful silence and smile at how fitting it is. How right it is that she would be the only other owner of it. The only other worthy of being its owner.
I do wonder though that if the dark chakram had never been neutralised, would Gabrielle have been able to wield it at all? Because as far as we know the only characters that can both catch and throw it are Xena, Callisto and Eve. But you never see proof that Eve could have thrown and caught the dark chakram on account of she wasn’t born when it was neutralised with the light chakram. You just take it on faith that Eve would have been able to due to her being Callisto reincarnated and, obviously, Xena’s biological daughter. So therefore it makes me wonder…
Was Gabrielle the true owner of the light chakram? Could she also have been able to pick it up without burning to cinders? Because let’s be frank about this…
Xena had lost her sense of self when she picked it up off the altar in the Tao temple. She didn’t know who she was. She was a blank slate. It was the altar’s creator that recognized her as the owner of the dark chakram, which allowed her to be able to pick the light chakram up. But odds are that she wouldn’t have been able to wield it without it being neutralised anyway. But given the fact that Gabrielle could wield the yin-yang chakram, I think it’s very fucking possible she was the owner of the light chakram instead of Xena.
I mean regardless of how intertwined Xena and Gabrielle were in past, present and future… I don’t think Gabrielle could have ever instinctively been able to wield the yin-yang chakram if she wasn’t already the owner of at least half of it. The light half of it. And I would go as far as to say that that's how she was able to. Because she always could. She just never knew it.
And had Tapert gotten his spin off show of ‘Gabrielle: Warrior Princess’ he would have explored this subject.
It could simply be that the reason Gabrielle could wield the yin-yang chakram instinctively was because Xena could, and Xena - the body - was no longer around but the soul’s essence lived on in Gabrielle. That’s cute and all but that doesn’t really explain it.
What could is that she was always the owner of it. But it took meeting and being with Xena in that lifetime for her to come to the reality where she would wield it. We always talk about how essential it was for Xena to meet Gabrielle for her to change the way that she did. But I say it was just as essential for Gabrielle to meet Xena because Gabrielle wasn’t who she was meant to be either without her, and certainly wouldn’t have become the exceptional warrior she ended up as.
Soulmates or ‘one soul in two bodies’, as I refer to it…
It means so much more than just the relationship factor. It’s all about how it affects the individual as well. All about how one changes because of the other. Which is why I always say that there’s got to be more than one soulmate for everyone. However Plato would disagree with me on that. And in a Greek background, it’s only appropriate that Xena and Gabrielle are the one and only half for each other - as the story goes…
But it’s just something to think about that it isn’t just because of THAT why Gabrielle could wield the yin-yang chakram. Perhaps it was that she was always meant to but would have never gotten to the point of doing so without meeting, travelling with and falling in love with the true owner of the dark chakram. Xena.
Maybe - just maybe - the yin-yang chakram is symbolic for the journey that these two individuals go on together because both of them are the owners of it BOTH when it was neutralised AND when it wasn’t.
Think about it. It makes more sense than you realize.

Sunbeam Carnival
Back at it again! This time with our favorite ultimate clown, Satsuki Iranami! I think this might be my favorite color palettes so far... It really came out just the way I wanted for her!
Tumblr media
Alright, let's see... Sunbeam grew up as part of a traveling circus, run by her family, who are all earth ponies. She has 20 siblings, and because of that, rarely got attention or care from their parents.
This was made worse by the competitive culture surrounding her family... the ponies who shone brightest during performances, and attracted the largest crowds, would be showered with gifts and praise. The siblings at the top were the most loved, it seemed, while ponies like Sunbeam, who struggled to keep up, were usually left neglected and unseen.
However, Sunbeam always kept a smile on her face, probably mainly due to the fact that one of her brothers was always looking out for her despite it all. Callisto was often at the top of their familial 'rankings' and yet, always made time for Sunbeam, and for the most part, took over the role their parents failed to provide.
Callisto became more and more disillusioned with their family dynamics as time went on, and even if Sunbeam couldn't quite see what he did, she too, began to think things could be better.
Callisto chose to focus on the one pony he knew he could protect, Sunbeam, who would follow him anywhere, and who he knew their parents would let escape their grasp. Once Callisto was old enough, the two of them left the circus behind, and he did his best to create a new life for them. Sunbeam was his biggest supporter, always being there for him, and bringing much joy and many smiles to his otherwise mundane life.
While Callisto no longer considers himself a circus pony, he still carries the skills of an acrobat, and Sunbeam never gave up her own talents. Their family could never ruin being a clown for her, and her talent always had, and always would, mean far more than it ever had to them. For Sunbeam, being a clown meant making ponies happy, and bringing sunshine into her own life and those of her loved ones. Nothing their family did ever changed that.
Eventually, thanks to that talent, she would bring new ponies into their lives, one by one. Without really even realizing it, she manages to brighten the lives around her, not just for her brother, but also for her friends.

Au: without Leila (it doesn't matter if there is a system and siyeon)
Returning to the capital after winning the war of conquest, Callisto entered into a new war - with the queen and Marquis Ellen. Oscar, unwilling to rule and tired of being a way for the family to maintain power, told Callisto all the secrets of his mother and grandfather. Their father, already a former emperor, did not interfere with the overthrow of his wife and happily crowned his eldest son. The younger one moved to Ellen’s estate, which had been vacated after a series of executions, and began to lead a quiet and peaceful life.
Soon the question arose about the marriage of the young emperor. According to the law, the bride must be an unmarried girl whose age cannot exceed the age of the emperor by more than five years and have the highest title at the time of matchmaking.
The Duke cursed the entire imperial family when the letter arrived.
Yvonne was at first inspired - the emperor was not only a magnificent handsome man, but also a hero of the Empire! However, the rose-colored glasses fell from her eyes when Callisto cut off the head of the attacking foreign mercenary in front of the crowd. From that day on, the girl locked herself in her room, ignoring the requests of her father and brothers to leave - refusal to marry could deprive them of their title or turn into a large-scale confrontation.
Callisto's father, Henry Regulus, advised him not to conflict with the Eckharts, forget about Yvonne and turn his attention to the girl with a slightly lower title - the sister of the Marquis of Berdandi, Viola. Oscar asked naively: “But the Duke has another daughter! Why not her?” Henry just laughed, saying that both daughters were dear to the Duke. The difference is that Yvonne is objectively aware of her position in society and knows how to keep her mouth shut. Penelope has a tongue with spikes, she does not take into account statuses (Henry was convinced of her coarse vocabulary himself) and is unlikely to obey unquestioningly. The Duke will not take risks and will not even show his warlike daughter.
Callisto decided to come to the duchy and discuss the situation: there he witnessed a quarrel between Derrick and Penelope. Now it was clear what the father was talking about. She looked straight into the eyes, holding her head high, her speech was too harsh, and she clearly did not care about the status of her interlocutor.
The Emperor turned to the Duke:
– It doesn’t matter which daughter I marry, right? The law does not prohibit this.
– Your Majesty! Penelope has a difficult character, I think that you will not get along with each other.
– Don’t worry, I’ll find a common language with her.
Much to all surprise, Penelope did not object to marrying the Emperor, she just grumbled all the time, which greatly amused Callisto.
The Duke, like everyone around him, was amazed that the Emperor was not angry at the Empress’s rudeness, but flirted with her in every possible way. For a long time, Penelope resisted Callisto’s advances, but still gave in.
I love the moments when Callisto admires Penelope's combativeness. It's a banal plot, but that's what it's made for.

ZARTEMIS/NIGHTEMIS HEADCANNONS PLEASE DUDE- DEADASS LOVE UR BLOG IM GONNA EAT YOUR FLOORBOARDS
Omg hi I love your blog too, iminyourwalls—
I've been dying to share my thoughts with someone:
• I think I already put this in a hashtag somewhere, but when Artemis said "yes my brave one, they're beautiful tonight" she was looking at Zoë not the actual stars
• Also the 'timestamps' series + 'uniform upgrade' and 'cypress' fanfics are exactly how I envisioned not only Artemis/Zoë but also their relationship in general with the hunters and their respective roles
• They definitely love to play with the Goddess-Liutenant dynamic
• I also feel like they wouldn't put a label in their relationship, like they know they love eachother and that's enough (ofc they talked boundaries like exclusively and all), their love is free, wild and unrestrained
• And they wouldn't really try to keep it a secret but wouldn't actively tell everyone about it, but they don't need to, everyone knows
• I'm torn between the idea that a) Artemis (and the hunters) saved Zoë while she was running from the monsters Atlas had sent after her and b) young Artemis exploring the mortal world and meeting Zoë by chance and creating the hunters together
• I do firmly believe that Zoë was Artemis' first lieutenant, whether because she was her first huntress or she created that position a while after and Zoë was chosen for it
• If I recall correctly one of the things Thalia didn't like about Zoë is the way she -literally- worshipped Artemis and I think that was a bit of jealousy actually—
• Also there had definitely been hunters crushing on Zoë and her having no idea. Artemis thinks is funny but also has suddenly more -openly- affection strikes, just to remind everyone
• As far as I know Artemis was born after the titan war and Zoë being atlas' daughter was born before, making her older than Artemis and she likes reminding everyone about it every once in a while
• I feel like Zoë would have had a competitive relationship with Callisto
• Zoë is always worrying about the hunters and while Artemis loves her for that, she takes her on hunting trips together (just the two of them) and plays around with her, she loves seeing her free like this
• I actually don't think there was a confession per se but they were sharing an intimate moment together (non sexual) and they just kissed, they don't know who started it, but they didn't care
• No matter how much centuries pass, Artemis knows that there will never be anyone like Zoë, and no matter what happens, even when she's fading and the millennia are blurred together she can never forget her
• When the whole Roman thing happened and she was confused, desoriented and in unbelievable pain, her Roman and greek forms trying to take control she called for Zoë, she always helped her when the civil wars happened, when the roman empire rose, Zoë was there for her, to calm her, ground her and take care of her, loving and devoting herself to both Artemis and Diana
• Zoë sometimes sings the song of the Hespérides only for Artemis and no one else
• Zoë is supposed to have her own tent, but she always stays at Artemis'
• When there alone in their tent, Artemis sometimes turns into a wolf and starts to randomly (and gently) chew on Zoë, who at this point barely even notices
• Artemis took Zoë to hunt with her and her mother Leto once (she approves of her, Zoë is very nervous tho and overly formal with her)
• After Orion was stung by the scorpion, he went mad and tried to attack Artemis, but she defeated him with Zoë, which is why it was Zoë who was always sent to hunt him every time he returned
• Artemis brings Zoë to Olympus as her representative in meetings and companion to parties
• When she died Artemis was trying her best not to lose it in front of her, so she didn't have to worry, so she would go in peace
• Artemis is always staring at the twilight, as if she could see her, as if she could reach her. It's the time of the day she feels the loss all over again, only worsened by the stars of course, the stars
• Zoë went for reincarnation and reached the isle of the blessed and Artemis asked she be turned to a minor goddess for her achievements (kinda like Hercules)
• She does and comes back to Artemis' side, but this time it's forever (delusional)
This got a bit too long but I think that's all, if I think of anything else I'll make another post

Academy of Sword and Magiс
[1\?]
Penelope and Callisto's relationship begins six months before the young woman's debut. Eckhart is in love with the Crown Prince and believes that her feelings are mutual. They meet secretly, knowing that neither the duke nor the emperor will support their relationship due to political tension inside the capital. They do not show their feelings and what they know in public, for fear of being revealed.
But after Yvonne returns, everything changes. Callisto rejects Penelope and laughs if she talks about their relationship, saying that she allegedly made them up. Heartbroken Penelope barely remembers how the debut is going, how the terrible thing happens - the poisoning of Yvonne.
The whole family blames her for this, not wanting to listen to any excuses and evidence. Left completely alone under a house ban in her room, the young woman did not know what to do when an angry Callisto came to her, wanting to avenge his new lover.
Penelope, miraculously manages to survive this meeting and escape.
Thanks to the low-ranking magic she learned, after the events of the hunting competitions, she was able to leave the capital and go to the most remote part of the empire, where she wanted to settle down and start living again, hoping that the duchy, like the Crown Prince, would not search for her anymore. They enjoying happy life with the real daughter of the Eckhart family.
But she didn't know at all how she could make money here. The jewelry and the torn dress that she was wearing, she sold for good money on the first day. But money tended to run out, and it was a bad idea to think about work when they were completely gone. Climbing into her small travel bag, Penelope found a fragment of a Mirror.
"What a useless garbage," she snorted and wanted to throw it into the swamp, as the shard began to shine brightly in her hands, showing her and the fact that she put the shard of the mirror back in the bag and went somewhere. "What the hell?"
Thinking about it, she decided not to throw it away and watch. Maybe the thing wasn't as useless as she thought it was. In the evening of the same day, after a hearty snack and going into the room she rented in a tavern, she took out a fragment and tried to make it show at least something other than a reflection again. But nothing worked. Giving up, she muttered: "Maybe I was dreaming.."
The shard shone again. Penelope looked there and saw herself creating something out of boards and fabric. Finally, she understood how it worked and figured out how to make money.
"Wizards? You mean the charlatans?" the owner of the tavern was perplexed with the guest's question. "If you need useless freeloaders, then they live on the outskirts of the city, towards Aunt Dor's farm. One of them also has such a strange sign.. With a cat? Or something similar to it."
Thanking for the information, Penelope went to the local wizard. The middle-aged man was immensely pleased with her until he realized that she was rather not his client, but just a random passerby who was unlikely to give money.
"I need a room. For divination, I see the future of people and can help them find out the truth." Penelope explained.
"A fortune teller? I hardly believe it, but if you pay rent, I will be glad to consider you a fortune teller" the man happily rubbed his hands, hoping for a promising income in his pocket from another "charlatan".
What was his surprise when the number of customers in a small fortune-teller's room became more and more every month. At first, the young woman did not charge her clients who were residents of a small town. Satisfied and especially impressionable, they told their visit to Penelope to their neighbors, and those to other neighbors from the neighboring village, spreading the story further and further.
In addition to ordinary citizens, aristocrats began to visit it, although not of the upper class, but still. From earls to viscounts. Fearing that she might be recognized, Penelope decided to furnish the room with an entourage and wear a suit that hides her eyes and hair. In it, she looked like a mystical fortune teller whose gaze is hidden from the visitor.
The fee for services grew, Penelope paid the wizard money for rent and assistance in servicing clients. A simple room has turned into a real mystical corner with incense and magical objects, one view showing that a real member of the magical world works here.
But in addition to the man, a nanny settled in the house, who looked after little Judith, who required a lot of attention and time, which Penelope did not have because of constant work and a desire to feed and provide a comfortable future.
Until one day, a strange old man comes to her for a foresighted session, asking her to tell about him and his past. Of course, she had similar clients who, due to illness, forgot where they lived or something important that they needed to remember and she did not charge them, letting them go with a pure soul to their loved ones.
But this old man was definitely not that kind of person. His past was filled with horror and death. A shard of a mirror reflecting fragments of the past into a glass ball chilled the blood in her veins. The old man, with a certain weariness and sadness in his eyes, watched his past.
"Let the Mirror show what will happen when I leave the city," he asked. "How do you know--?.." asked Penelope, frightened. "I know a lot of things, child. And I know that very soon the knight's guard will arrive here and take you to the capital. Aren't you, as one of the last representatives of the ancient magicians, afraid to be on your knees again in court for something you didn't do?" "Wh-what?.." "Ask the Mirror to show you if you think I'm lying, child. My name is Uwe, I am an elder from a small town where ancient magicians and ordinary magicians who were expelled from their lands live. I've heard a lot about your abilities and I see that you can use a fragment of an ancient magical artifact - the Mirror of Truth. This is amazing and truly an innate talent that not everyone can possess. I've come to help you. There aren't many like you and me left, but there is a place where you and your daughter will be safe. I can offer my protection and help so that you can live in peace without hiding behind all this masquerade. But we don't have much time and we need to decide right now."
Penelope looked at the flashing Mirror of Truth and clenched her hands into a fist nodded to the man. She needed to escape anyway if the imperial knights were already heading here. There's no reason for her to stay in this city. And Judith, too.
Seven years later, the empire makes a truce with the ancient magicians after a fierce struggle against Leila. In order to consolidate the alliance, the emperor and the elders sign a trade agreement on the purchase and sale, as well as participation in the cutting of precious stones for magical weapons. The Empire also creates conditions for magicians so that they can receive education and not be infringed on their rights.
In order to strengthen the established relations, an academy is being built on the territory of the empire, where both people and wizards will study in the same building in order to create a new generation that will rely on each other. Duke Eckhart's (Derrick) adopted daughter, 7-year-old Nora, and other children from aristocratic families become one of the elementary school students. Nora was a reserved but very kind child who was bullied despite the authority of her family.
The girl was taken from a shelter sponsored by the Eckhart family. Nora, who had lost her parents and was left completely alone, appreciated the duchy for sheltering her and giving her the opportunity to get an education that her own father could not have dreamed of. She was a timid and kind girl who knew that if she rebuffed her abusers, she could be worse off because of it, and not them at all. She kept silent about it and endured, pretending that she was not upset at all by the words of her peers.
Fortunately, by the beginning of the year, her roommate did not come because of family problems, so the first months of study the whole room was in her harness and no one could tell classmates how she cried, remembering all the hurtful things that other children did to her.
On one of the everyday school days, the girls called her behind the building to talk about her being too smart during math lessons. But as soon as the main offender managed to open her mouth, dirty water poured on top of her, which was used to wash the floor in the classroom. Offended girls screamed promising to take revenge on prankster until she saw who did it.
"You shouted too loudly, it prevented me from calmly preparing for the lesson," said a golden-haired girl looking out of the window with a bucket in her hands. "Oh, I'm sorry, Judith!..We're leaving!" classmates immediately ran away with a bully, apparently not wanting to get involved with a stranger.
Nora wanted to thank the savior, but Judith quickly lost interest and went back to class closing the window without saying anything. Eckhart spent the rest of the day in peace and quiet. Tired of the amount of knowledge she had gained, Nora went into her room and realized with horror that the same girl was sitting on the next bed.
"Hi, I'm Judith and I'm your roommate."

in keeping with the latest asks, where/how do you think girl-likers jean and ororo manifests in contrast with emma?
i think ororo early on certainly struggles with the idea of romance and the idea of how to pursue it. i think this is true based on canon romantic relationships with forge, and also if you want to read into it (which i do) stevie hunter. but this is also an arena ororo has experienced a lot of change in! she's much more comfortable with romance in general, and i think, in looking at her changing relationships with yukio and callisto, the idea of romance with a woman. these are both interesting and compelling relationships to me bc of the way they both function as challenges to ororo, but they are challenges ororo is ultimately able to articulate, yk. like she understands what's happening is like. able to explain that to other people, such as kitty. she's able to respond to these relationships without and change within them. bc of this i tend to view ororo as much more comfortably inhabiting her queerness than some other characters (like emma).
(also if we're talking yukio, and callisto, and the whole punk thing: this is another reason i view ororo as more comfortable in inhabiting her queerness than emma. like both characters are performing gender in kind of non-standard ways via aesthetics, ororo with her punk attire and emma with this hyper-sexualized femininity. and ororo comes to this aesthetic via her relationships with other women and emma's aesthetic is kind of still tied to the idea of the white queen, this legacy of her time with the hellfire club. if that makes sense.)
with jean: very similar to emma! i maintain that these two are more similar than they are often read. jean is also a very performance heavy character, she is constantly performing perfect womanhood. and where emma acknowledges the construction as part of the performance, jean does not. i also think jean is someone who is very worried about appearing outside the norm, which you see a little bit with her worries about her family's reaction to her mutation and the development of a visible mutation. like she's scared of being rejected, and so she's kind and lovely and as normal as possible. so i see her as someone who could be very scared of being open about her attraction to women. like i actually think jean might be like. openly a girl liker in some contexts and then really really not open about it in others. a complicated relationship to the closet yk. largely based around a fear of rejection.

[Art by @little-banjo-frog ; Twin-Sync (More Than You Think) by @little-banjo-frog , Sub-Zero by @noxvee6 , Captainx2 @veearrifarrariboom] [@tmntstorycomp]
[Callisto is Twin-Sync Leo, Ganymede is T-S Donnie, Hop is Dimension Hopper Leo, and Null is Sub-Zero Leo]
The portal family had just found each other in the fun chaos that was a competition. They were in a library where the the Twin-Sync twins had ended up imprisoned and eventually broke free with the help of Captains, and where Hop had accidentally opened two portals for different reasons. The first one had ended up flooding the place with comic books. The second one luckily didn’t drop any random items, and yet, he couldn’t understand why they didn’t work properly. There was something weird going on…
Now Hop had found Callisto and Ganymede, and he saw Null around, so he must be somewhere around here. They were looking for him but luckily before they did find him, he did.
“Null!” Hop greeted happily.
“Monkey.” Null greeted back, approaching them. “Callisto, Ganymede.”
“Hey old man.” Callisto waved.
“I found the twins, and they are the reason the alarms are wild.” Hop grinned as he leaned on Null’s arm.
The oldest slider looked at the twins. “Not surprised.”
“Still salty about the bomb situation?” Callisto asked, not bothering to hide his smirk.
“Please for Galileo's sake don’t make this a ‘he threw me off a roof’ situation.” Ganymede groaned.
“But he did.” Hop pointed out.
“And we have every right to be salty about that.” Callisto added.
Null simply nodded.
Ganymede rolled his eyes. “Leos…” Then he noticed something. A colorful blur jumped out of the portal Hop had made near a window. “What the–”
The Leos turned to look at where he was looking. Callisto gasped and Hop’s eyes widened, “Oh!”
Null, however, seemed to simply be confused. He silently watched as the calico cat walked towards him, despite her small steps arriving in no time. She purred loudly, rubbing her head on his leg. Now the big slider was even more confused, “What?” he said out loud. Hop could bet he saw question marks fly around him. Then the kitty made the biggest, cutest kitten eyes.
Hop cooed, clasping his hands together. “Aww!!! Look Null! She chose you!”
Null gently took the cat in his palm. She was so small, tiny enough to fit a hand of his. She looked happy to be held, purring softly. Null looked at her, and then at the others. He looked puzzled.
“Null, the cat chose you. You gotta take care of her now.” Callisto announced.
Hop joined with a big grin. “You have no choice.”
“But– where did she even come from?” Null questioned. This didn’t make any sense. Wasn’t it bad for her to be away from her timeline or universe?
“She jumped out from that portal.” Ganymede pointed. “Do you know where that portal leads, Hop?”
He shook his head, “Nope. All I know is it failed to lead to the right place and won’t close for some reason.” He huffed. “None do!”
Callisto gasped. “Portal cat!”
Hop’s eyes brightened with excitement, “Portal cat!”
The two started cheering, “Portal cat! Portal cat!”
Ganymede sighed, “I’ll check the portal to see where she came from.”
“Wait! We need to name her first.” Callisto exclaimed, Hop nodded beside him.
“Name her?” Null turned to them, he was cautiously petting the lil kitty.
“We can’t adopt her.” Ganymede said, “As much as I hate to say it, she is from who knows where. It might have side effects for her.”
“Or not.” Callisto responded. “Maybe this is her first time and she will be fine because when we hop we hop cautiously.” He booped the cat’s nose.
Ganymede sighed, he joined in petting the cat too. “Fine.”
Hop scratched her chin, “So what we’re gonna name the lil gal?”
“Oh I know!” Callisto grinned, “How about Blueberry?”
“Blue because her eyes are blue or blue because you all are blue?” Ganymede’s voice was flat, but it was clearly visible he was teasing by the smirk on his face.
“Yes.” Callisto answered.
“I love it!” Hop exclaimed. “Fits her.”
“It’s good.” Null said.
“Then it is set.” Callisto smiled. “Blueberry the portal cat!”
“Can I check the portal now?” Ganymede asked, but he was interrupted.
“The second bracket theme is going to be… the Woods!” They heard Massy’s voice.
“Ah. So much for knowing where she came from…” Ganymede gave up as the library changed.
