i'm so happy to see you back! could i request a nsfw scenario of riding lieutenant aizen? 😳😳
Awww, yeah! I'm slowly answering requests and what a fun idea! I kind of... ran with this lol, so I apologize if this wasn't what you had in mind!
Tumblr media
This is NSFW so I'm putting it behind the cut.
TW: humiliation. Aizen's not nice in this lol.
Read this on AO3.
The tea shop was busy, with many curious customers seeking out new blends to try and brew. Today was especially busy since it was graduation day for the newest recruits of the Gotei 13. A few graduates entered your shop, deep in conversation that you couldn’t discern, until you heard one student’s comment,
“Isn’t Lieutenant Aizen totally dreamy?”
“Dreamy” was one word to describe him, as you felt your cheeks grow warm. You were amazed by how most people had a particular image of him, humble, kind and patient. Such an unassuming man at first glance, but his voice and presence left everyone with a lasting impression of him. You were no different at first.
But before you could reminisce on those memories, the graduates had decided on their tea selections and were ready to pay. More customers entered, more of them leaving. The waves of people coming in and out made the time pass by quickly for you. The setting sun gave your shop a golden glow, and you realized it was time to do some final checks before you closed up shop for the day.
That is, until a lone Shinigami entered the store.
“I’m sorry for the intrusion” the Shinigami announced, to no one in particular. As you walked closer to them, an uncomfortable feeling grew around you. “I’m here on behalf of Lieutenant Aizen of the Fifth Division. He requests these specific blends from your shop.”
Oh it was already that time of the month? You thought to yourself. The arrangement Lieutenant Aizen and you had agreed upon. His duties often left him with very little time to sample and shop for teas. As such, he asked if you could provide him with his staple favourites, and then one or two blends that were new to the shop that you thought he would enjoy.
“Oh yes! If you give me a moment, I can pack that for you.” You told the Shinigami, but they shook their head.
“I was instructed that you are to bring these items to his private quarters once you close your shop. I have a permit for you to enter the barracks for that.” As they handed you the slip of paper. You nodded your head and tucked the paper within your clothes, watching the soldier leave. Night was quickly approaching, so you shuttered your store, hanging the “closed” sign in front of the wooden door.
You did your final preparations needed for tomorrow’s opening, then prepared Lieutenant Aizen’s requests. Once you had packaged everything into a lacquered box, you made your way to the barracks.
Entering the barracks always left you intimidated. Lieutenant Aizen did not request you to come to his quarters often, but you felt strangely judged by those on watch, as if they knew some of the things you did.
You felt the familiar throb when you remembered your last visit to him. How he had tied you down and blindfolded you. You were so sure he would gag you with how loud you moaned and screamed.
And like clockwork, you were in front of Lieutenant Aizen’s quarters. Before you could knock on the wooden doorframe, Lieutenant Aizen slid the paper door open, pulling you inside. His room was sparse, with very few personal affects sprinkled throughout. He was in a simple robe, as if he was prepared to sleep.
“Here are the blends you requested, Aizen-sama” you said, bowing your head and handing him the lacquered box.
You knew this song and dance by now, so you also shared the price of this month’s request. Once Aizen handed you the correct amount, he instructed you to sit down.
He always instructed you to brew and share a cup of tea with him, and tonight was no different.
But before you could fetch his tea set, he had one more instruction for you,
“And before you pour our cups, strip.”
You nodded your head, humiliation washing over you, as he sat down, fully clothed. His glasses were gone, as he watched you with intense scrutiny. The “dreamy” Aizen those students giggled on about before rang in your head as you wondered what they would think of him now.
Once your clothes were off, you prepared the tea to his liking, gently pouring it and ensuring not a drop of hot tea splashed on to you or him.
You both sat in silence as you drank the tea. You kept your eyes lowered but would occasionally look at him. Lieutenant Aizen was enjoying his tea, that much you knew, with the way his eyes were closed, and a small smile gracing his chiseled face after each sip. Your eyes wandered further down, where his night robes loosely hung on him, revealing some of his muscular chest, but his eyes snapped open.
Aizen’s gaze was intense as ever, as he stared you down, his once calm smile turning into a cruel smirk. He set his cup down and got up. You watched him slide another door to what you assumed was his closet and pulled a thick black rope out.
He’s going to tie me up again you thought, until he instructed you to come to him. Your legs felt heavy as you reached him, sticking your arms together, but instead of securing your wrists, he looped the rope around your throat.
This… is a collar. Another wave of embarrassment hit you. You felt your body tremble as to how you got yourself into this predicament, but you were pulled away from your thoughts as Aizen tugged at your collar harshly, forcing you to your knees.
The lieutenant’s face was devoid of any kindness, humility or patience. He wanted only one thing from you, and in your embarrassment, you wanted to provide it for him. You loosened his robes, as they gently fell to the ground. He tugged at your collar again, as your face neared his crotch. No words needed to be said, as you knew what he wanted. You pulled his soft cock out from the confines of the remaining robes and softly kissed it. You lapped at his growing tip, as you a familiar taste hit your tongue. But your gentle ministrations weren’t to Lieutenant Aizen’s liking.
Before you could continue further, he pulled the collar again, forcing his cock down your throat. You gagged around him trying to steady yourself as he controlled the pace. He was always rough with you, but you loved it. You felt your pussy drip as he rammed your throat at an unrelenting pace.
Then he pushed you off him, a string of your saliva linking to his erect cock. You tried to regain your breath again, but Aizen used your face as a cloth for his cock, and rubbed the hot and heavy shaft all over you. Once he deemed his cock was clean for his liking, he yanked the collar and began to walk around his quarters, forcing you to crawl on your hands and knees. Your pussy grew wetter at how humiliating this was. Your pussy was bare for anyone to see and was glistening just from Aizen’s cruel actions.
He stopped abruptly, keeping you on all fours. His cock was so close, but before you could beg him for it, his fingers were sliding up and down your wet slit.
“You really are my little bitch” Lieutenant Aizen casually remarked. You moaned loudly as you felt two of his fingers enter you, then three. Like his pace with his cock, his fingers were unrelenting, forcing a shriek out of you. Your arms were shaking as you tried to hold your position, but then, his fingers hit the sensitive spot inside you. A low guttural groan escaped you as you squirted on his fingers.
Then it all stopped. Aizen pulled his fingers from you and again, and pulled on the collar again. You crawled again until you were face to face with your puddle. Grabbing your hair, Lieutenant Aizen pulled you down to the floor, “you made a mess of my private quarters, clean it up.” He instructed, watching you lick your juices. You heard him laughing as he watched you attentively lick up every drop.
Once he deemed it cleaned, he pulled you towards his futon, but to your surprise. He laid on it before you did. His cock still erect, with a small drop of precum pooling at the tip. You hesitated, unsure of what he wanted, until he yanked the collar again.
In his deep voice, Lieutenant Aizen calmly said, “you’re going to be a good slut and ride me.”
“Yes, sir.” You whispered softly, your voice slightly hoarse from the screaming before. The Lieutenant held on to the collar tightly as you propped yourself on top of him. You slowly lowered yourself on to his cock, moaning loudly as the fullness of him stretching your pussy grew. Once he was fully inside you, you placed your hands on his abs, trying to raise and lower yourself on him.
Aizen grinned at the sight of you on top of him, bouncing on his cock. He gripped the collar tightly, forcing you ever so slightly forward as you struggled to ride him. Your moans filled his room, with the wet sounds of your pussy echoing around the two of you.
But then Aizen grimaced, you were clearly enjoying yourself, but it wasn’t enough for him. Without warning, he pulled the collar again with such intensity, you fell into his chest and his arms immediately wrapped themselves around your ass.
“Stupid girl” Aizen admonished you, slapping your ass as he began to set the pace, “all you need is cock to please you that you can’t do anything else right.” But his cruel words were lost on you as his thrusts increased in speed. You felt another orgasm approach, but before you could cum, Aizen pulled out of you and forced you back on your knees. Aizen’s groans grew deeper as you watched him pump his cock for a bit, before his hot cum landed all over your face. Aizen gripped his cock and used it to smear his cum all over you.
Once he was satisfied, he tucked himself back, and undid your collar. “Thank you for the tea. I look forward to what you bring next month.” Aizen coldly said, as he began to prepare himself for bed. You nodded dumbly and got dressed, exiting his room and the barracks. The night breeze cooled the cum he left on your face.
Until next month… you thought to yourself, wondering what the dreamy Lieutenant would try next time.

RAIN CODE Fan Meeting Report ③
Tumblr media
From the second reading to the end of the of the daytime program.
Previous posts:
RAIN CODE Fan Meeting Report ①
RAIN CODE Fan Meeting Report ②
⚠️This is a looong post and contains spoilers! Only read this if you have already played RAIN CODE and have time.
After introducing the merchandise sold at the event, Fukuhara, Suzushiro, and Ishikawa gave a reading performance. The reading was a direct reenactment of the game's dialog from Chapter 1, when Halara's forensic forte was first shared with Yuma, so I will just leave out the details.
After that, KENN joined in and the four VAs gave a reading performance. This was a re-enactment of the part after the Mystery Labyrinth in chapter 2, where Kurumi gave Yuma information about the homunculus and Yuma shared it with other detectives of the Nocturnal Detective Agency. Yakou's lines were replayed by playing the voices in the game, and Fubuki's and Vivia's lines were simply omitted. In the actual story, Vivia mentions Death God here, implying that he knows Yuma is possessed by Shinigami, but those lines were left out, and Shinigami forced a punchline by being a bit silly instead. I remember it ending with a meta-statement like, "The most mysterious thing is that Fuzz Head's voice is heard even though he is not here."
I forgot to mention in my previous post that the entire script for the reading was done by Spike Chunsoft staff, and Kodaka was not involved at all. (From the way he talked, it sounded like he didn't even supervise it). So the story itself was not something worth explaining in detail. Just the VAs' performances were really perfect and wonderful :)
------
The next segment, "Kanai Ward Citizen Survey", featured a game in which the VAs predicted which answer to a three-option question would receive the most votes from the audience. The audience was treated as Kanai Ward residents, and voting was done by clapping their hands. The person who best predicted the audience's answer won a book token printed with the main artwork of the RAIN CODE Fan Meeting.
The first question was as follows:
Q1.Which Forensic Forte would you use if you could? 1. Halara's Forensic Forte 2. Desuhiko's Forensic Forte 3. Fubuki's Forensic Forte
Maybe they dared to make it easy because it was the first question, but clearly Halara's abilities are too limited compared to the versatility of Desuhiko and Fubuki's abilities 😅 so the VAs predicted that it would most likely be either 2 or 3. And here's the result of their choice:
Tumblr media
(The VAs were given placards to hold up to answer the questions.)
Then, the option that got the most votes from the audience was "3. Fubuki's Forensic Forte". To which the VAs said, "I knew everyone wanted to rewind time." lol
The level of popularity was Fubuki > Desuhiko >> Halara.
The next question was this:
Q2.Who is the detective you want to be your boss? 1. Yakou 2. Halara 3. Yuma before losing his memory. (Number One)
When Kodaka saw these options, he immediately commented as follows:
Tumblr media
But Suzushiro said "Isn't Halara too strict? Yakou seems to be very subordinate-minded." Then Ishikawa said, "If I were to become Halara's subordinate, I would like to see Halara looking at pictures of cats."
Tumblr media
(The gesture of looking through the gap is what she actually did on the stage!)
And here's the result of their choice:
Tumblr media
I was so convinced by Ishikawa's opinion, but she actually raised Yakou's number. (She betrayed us! 😂)
Only Fukuhara chose 3 and was asked by the MC why:
Tumblr media
(He really loves Yuma!)
Then, Kodaka commented as follows:
Tumblr media
Fukuhara countered, "But don't you think it's good that he only shows his true face to me!?" (He seemed to imagine what would happen if he became Number One's secretary or entourage 😄)
But whether his arguments did not resonate with the audience or were simply not popular enough, the option that got the most votes from the audience was "1. Yakou".
The level of popularity was Yakou > Halara > Number One.
Q3.Which organization would you prefer to join? 1.World Detective Organization 2.Amaterasu Corporation 3.Resistance
Kodaka saw these options and again immediately commented.
Tumblr media
(That's true 😂)
The VAs began to discuss these options and which organization would give them the best chance of survival. However, all of them are very risky 😅 WDO's work is fraught with danger (as a lot of detectives were actually killed in chapter 0), and workers in Amaterasu would be executed if suspected of rebellion. Of course, the Resistance is always fraught with danger!
After such discussion, here is what they chose:
Tumblr media
When asked by the MC why they chose Amaterasu Corporation, Ishikawa and KENN replied:
Tumblr media
(Becoming an Ama-Pal developer is certainly a fairly peaceful option 😆)
Fukuhara replied that the reason he wanted to join WDO was because of his love for Yuma, and Suzushiro said she wanted to use Forensic Forte.
And as a result of audience voting, the most popular option was "1.World Detective Organization".
The level of popularity was World Detective Organization > Amaterasu Corporation >>> Resistance. (FYI, WDO and Amaterasu were almost equally popular. WDO was slightly more popular).
Last Question: Which line do you want Shinigami to say? 1. "Kyahaha! Down the rabbit hole we go!" (JA: きゃっきゃっきゃ! いざ、迷宮入りーーーー!!) 2. "Luminous darkness! Shining rainbow! Glorious stellar spiral! Bello Fresco Grand Finale!" (JA: ダークネスシャイニングファビュラスレインボービューティフルマックススクリューラブリーフレッシュグランドフィナーレ!!) 3. "I hope he dies with his upper body stuck in the pond." (JA: 池に上半身が突き刺さって死ねばいいのに)
*As for the third, I don't remember where Shinigami said it, so I made up the translation myself. I used "he", but it may have been said to a female character. The first and second should be correct because I checked the English version of the videos on YouTube.
As for the first line, KENN mentioned that this line was memorable, but I need to make some explanations so that you can see why he said it. This line is said by Yuma and Shinigami enter the Mystery Labyrinth, but it differs considerably between the Japanese and English versions. If I translate the original Japanese line into English, it should be like "Now enter the Labyrinth!" However, in Japanese, it actually shares a meaning with another word that has a different meaning, but if it were put into English, it would lose that meaning, so it was probably changed to something completely different. In Japanese, when things are left unresolved, the thing is described as having entered a labyrinth. So KENN commented that he found it interesting that a word that was originally used in this sense was literally used in the sense of entering a labyrinth.
The second line is the one that Shinigami says at the end of Mystery Labirinth, when she reaps the soul of the true culprit:
Tumblr media
Kodaka said it was based on the scene when the main characters perform a special move in the Pretty Cure series, a famous Japanese anime for girls. Suzushiro said that she searched for videos of Pretty Cure on YouTube and used them as a reference for her performance. When I heard this, I remembered that the title of the music played in the scene is "Heart Catch! Convict! Convict!" in the OST. I think "Heart Catch" is based on a title of one of the Pretty Cure series: HeartCatch PreCure! - Wikipedia
By the way, for Japanese Otaku, "heart catch" is also a word with a different meaning. I know the correct grammatical order in English should be "catch heart", but Japanese otaku dare to say "heart catch" when a cruel character grabs someone's heart (as an organ). So I think the reason for such a music title is a cross between the Shinigami harvesting the soul scene and the cute image of Pretty Cure.
Sorry for the long explanation! 😣 And my memory is a little fuzzy as to which answer the VAs chose here. I think 2 was the most popular. And in fact, 2 was the most popular among the audience, and Suzushiro actually read the line out loud!
The level of popularity was 2 > 1 >>> 3.
As a result of this game, it was Suzushiro who was the best at guessing the audience's answers! She received the book token and declared that she would use it to buy some RAIN CODE books :)
------
In the next segment, "RAIN CODE Maniac Quiz", the audience answered super-geeky questions about RAIN CODE. All questions were true/false and the audience answered by opening their fist for true and clenching their fist for false.
The audience was first asked to stand, and the person who made the mistake was treated as having left the quiz at that point and was seated. And when there were only a few people standing, the game was over. Those who stayed until the end received limited edition merchandise. (They received a card that looked like a pass).
This quiz was full of really difficult questions! 😅 There were 7 questions in total. I encourage you to see if you can answer them.
The questions were as follows:
The tallest person in Amaterasu Corporation is Dominic. True or false?
2. It is in Chapter 4 that Shinigami shows the pose in the following image. True or false?:
Tumblr media
3. The word "WINE" is written on the label of the wine bottle* used in the case in Chapter 2. True or false? * The bottle was used as a prop for a play by the Aetheria Academy Theater Club.
Tumblr media
4. The cat in the photo Halara was looking at in Chapter 1 had blue eyes. True or false?
5. The color of Pucci's stuffed bear* was white. True or false? * It is the stuffed bear that was sitting on a chair in Pucci's room in Chapter 0.
6. The load capacity of Ama-pal is 120 kg. True or false?
7. In chapter 1, the amount Halara asked for as the price for helping Yuma was 5,500,600 shien. True or false?
The order of the questions may differ from the order of the actual quiz, but in any case, only those who answered all of these questions correctly were eligible for the prizes.
The correct answers are written at the very end of this post!
------
Finally, the participants gave their closing remarks. The VAs all said that it was the first time they had seen the fans since the game was released, and that it was nice to know for the first time that these people love RAIN CODE.
Ishikawa said that even from the stage she could see some fans wearing merchandise shirts or carrying Shinigami bags, and felt that RAIN CODE is really loved.
Fukuhara said that he was very happy because this was the first time he had been able to talk with spoilers. (He had been on the RAIN CODE introduction live stream before RAIN CODE was released, so he had had many opportunities to talk about RAIN CODE, but this was the first time he had done so with spoilers).
The following is Kodaka's final comment, which I tried to write as accurately as possible:
"It took six years to make RAIN CODE, and as you can see from the credits, there were a lot of people involved in making RAIN CODE. I was nervous about releasing it because it was the result of so many people's efforts, and I was worried about whether how many people would like it, but I am glad that there are a lot of fans who have gathered here with such enthusiasm. I am sure that RAIN CODE will have new developments and other things to come, so please continue to support us. Thank you very much."
After the closing remarks, Shinigami's announcement began. Shinigami then asked the audience, "Did you have a great time?" and the audience responded with applause 👏👏
------
Correct answers to the RAIN CODE Maniac Quiz! :
1.✅ True. (Dominic's height is 225 cm (7'4").) 2.✅ True. (You can see this pose in the result of the second Shinigami Puzzle in Chapter4.) 3.❌ False. (It was labeled LEQUELR.)
Tumblr media
4.❌ False. (Black is correct.) 5.❌ False. (Pink is correct.) 6.❌ False. (100kg is correct.) 7.❌ False. (5,500,800 shien is correct.)
How many questions did you get right? I got the third question wrong and dropped out 😝 (In a post-event interview in the media, Kodaka said he did not know the correct answer from the first question. lol)
This is the end of the daytime program!

WIP Wednesday
@werecanidae tagged me for wip wednesday and I thought I was going to share something else, but instead I'll put forward the first scene (I have 2 scenes "done" so far) of a death note fanfic idk when it'll be ready. The premise is Light loses the death note while being unable to relinquish his ownership of it (or lose his memories) while in confinement. Additionally I replace Sidoh's role in the story with my shinigami oc Lyce.
I'll tag @recurringwriter, @umbralstars, and YOU! Because they've seen this before and I can't bring myself to tag anyone that hasn't seen it.
1,596 words total. Lies about a fictional woman Light made up committing suicide. Regular death note bullshit.
Enjoy!
.
‘Get rid of it.’
Light’s own words rang in his ears. Anything he’d said before or after had been meaningless. It had all been a smokescreen with a singular purpose. He’d set the board and ordered his first piece to move, and so Ryuk had gone, but that was six days ago, and Light had witnessed how fast Misa had turned when she’d given up ownership of her Death Note, so why did his memories yet remain?
‘Ryuk… What are you up to?’
It was dark in Light’s cell — never pitch for the cameras, but dim — and by now he wondered whether his jailors were honouring the true cycle of night and day. The hours crawled by like insects upon his skin. Light would have been impatient for other reasons if he could no longer remember Ryuk, but as it was, he was calculating how to pull off his con if Ryuk had simply abandoned him. L’s perception was difficult to misguide, but surely not impossible. In a worst case scenario he’d simply have to go dig up the Death Note on his own when the opportunity presented itself.
He’d suffered worse humiliation at the behest of L’s confidence and Misa’s flagrant impropriety than time in scrutinised solitary could ever inflict. Weathering a few more days of annoyance was nothing to Light — especially when weighed against his perfect victory. It was so close now. The hurdles were coming with such frequency that Light imagined them as the death throes of this disappointing reality making way for his judgement.
Of course the night would feel long, when the dawn of a new world waited for him in the morning.
A grumble of disappointment called Light’s attention to the corner of his cell. He recognized the sound, and startled to hear it. Ryuk’s gothic figure was a stark shadow against the yellow walls, with disappointment and hesitation clear in his otherwise vacant expression; lidless eyes that Light could feel upon him, breathless lips parted around pointed teeth that Light was long accustomed to.
“It’s gone,” Ryuk said, with the tone of a confession.
.
L watched the monitors attentively. Light had jolted and twisted up on his side to stare at the side of the cell, and L did not intend to miss either what had caught Light’s attention, or what he might be doing in his cot that he meant to draw attention from. Light twitched as if towards the camera, long brown hair fallen in front of his face, hiding his expression.
.
“I would have felt it if another human had picked up the Death Note,” Ryuk asserted, voice churning like jewellery in a garbage disposal.
Light narrowed his eyes, urging him on.
“And,” Ryuk complied, reaching up to wrap bony fingers around the expanse of his monstrous throat, “the earth would have been disturbed, if a human had taken it. So. I think it was taken ... by another shinigami.”
.
L cycled through three other cameras in Light’s cell, seeking what had his attention, trying to find something in focus of his eyes or the jitter of his wrist.
.
“I checked in on Rem,” Ryuk promised, meaning to clear her of suspicion as he gestured with an open palm, “and she's just doing what we planned.” He tilted his chin up, straightening his posture, as much as his hunch allowed. Light heard the tremor in Ryuk’s voice. “I, uh, I think I know who has it. It's just a matter of finding her, and finding out what's going on.”
.
Light raised a fist in front of his lips, mind reeling. If there had been another shinigami around to influence his plans, then Ryuk should have told him.
‘So much for digging it up later.’
Swallowing his rage, swallowing the exclamation that Ryuk’s fear had better be reserved for him, and not this unknown player in their game, Light raised a finger, hand still in front of his face, hoping Ryuk understood that he wanted him to wait a moment, to hear how he sounded out his questions. He hoped that for L, the gesture appeared to be nothing more than him collecting his thoughts.
As unimposing as he could, Light sat up and turned to the primary camera at the head of his cell. He was sure there were others, but this one was out in the open, meant to grab attention — and undermine him. He tightened his blanket over his shoulders and softly called out, “L? I think I had a nightmare.”
.
L light the silence drag a moment, wide eyes taking in the whole of the scene before him, wondering what this ploy could be. Could Light’s confinement be wearing away him? Perhaps the lack of exercise and stimulation? He slid his finger over the smooth plastic of the button for his microphone before answering in his gentle monotone, “I'm sorry to hear that, Light.” Another pause, watching Light curl in on himself, an act of vulnerability that L could not allow himself to believe under the circumstances.
Yet there were benefits to keeping Light talking, so L asked, “Do you want to talk about it?”
Light’s tone was filled with bittersweet sadness, and he smiled hopelessly as he filled the television screen with charm. “You probably think I can't sleep because of my conscience,” he accused L. “Because I'm Kira. Right?”
This time L answered quickly, and with less gentleness to his tone, more professional and perfunctory, in an attempt to dissuade Light’s mind-games. “No, I've watched you sleeping soundly for some time now. And with the understanding that Kira thinks himself above his victims, there would be no logic in assuming that such a mind would be moved to feel guilt over his crimes.”
.
Light had to keep himself from smiling. He turned back towards Ryuk as he spun his tale.
“I had a nightmare of a woman. She was turned away from me in my cell. Just there,” He pointed at Ryuk with a measure of sick satisfaction, and hoped Ryuk felt his frustration despite the ruse. “She killed herself in front of me,” as Light spoke, he became frantic, as though the words couldn’t get out of him fast enough, as though he were still and had truly been terrified by a fictitious ghost, “and I wondered how she'd gotten there, and whether you'd sent her, or whether Kira had sent her — to eliminate any doubt that I'm Kira.” He sobbed. “I wanted her to turn around.” And turned to the camera in distress. “Who was she? Why was she doing this?! Who was she?”
.
L had a hard time not narrowing his eyes at Light’s display. With the miniscule chance that it was a genuine nightmare that was afflicting him, afflicting Kira — the rest of the story, and Light’s reaction to it, were completely nonsensical, and beyond L’s interest in comforting. Nevertheless, Light was his guest, willingly, for the time being, and L took a deep breath before reassuring Light as though the circumstances of this exchange were different, and as though they were friends whispering secrets in the night.
“Rest assured, Light, if a woman walked into your cell and killed herself, the likelihood of your being Kira would remain unchanged. No one is coming.” He watched Light shrink a little, and realised his own limited experience with expressing himself socially might have hampered what he considered friendly, when compared with a social butterfly like Light. But this didn’t stop L from replaying what Light had said in his frightened stupor, and he whispered, deep and amused, “Although I am intrigued by your phrasing. You do realise you said, “I'm Kira.” Do you not?”
.
Light looked at the camera with annoyance flaring across his features that quickly dimmed into anguish. “I— I said—”
“She is my friend, Lyce,” Ryuk answered Light, sounding like he’d been caught stealing apples from the kitchen counter. “It was maybe, sorta, possibly, her Death Note that I gave you to use.”
.
“Your meaning was that you are not Kira,” L said permissibly, to save Light any further distress and acknowledge that he was not a literal fool, “and you're tired. Yes, I understood.” He pressed a finger to the television screen, feeling the static bud and blossom and cling to his skin, touching just in the corner where Light had been looking some moments ago. He asserted quietly, “But you did say it, Light, and I will still remember in the morning.”
.
“Lyce is a stickler with the rules,” Ryuk explained for Light’s sake, answering more of the questions he’d hidden in his outburst, “and I can't see how she'd influence your guilt, Light-o, that's on you.”
.
“I'm not Kira,” Light said, loud enough to be picked up by L’s devices but as quietly as he dared. Sliding down so he slumped in his cot. “I'm— I'm not…”
“I'll come find you when I have answers,” Ryuk vowed, and Light even found himself believing it despite how useless Ryuk had been. Their friendship wasn’t built on lies. He was going to be God of the new world — of course Ryuk would want to see that happen.
L’s voice crackled over the microphone. “Would you like me to send someone to check on you, Light?”
Light rolled onto his side, away from the camera. “Thank you, L. But if you could go away ... I'd like to try to get back to sleep.”
Light heard the absence of Ryuk before L’s placid response.
“Of course, Light. Good night.”

The final series to look at this year, a revisit of the Simpsons.
Tumblr media
I honestly don’t remember the last new Simpsons episode I’ve seen (I just remembered, it was the Bill Cipher one). I’ve seen clips but never anything new fully. And with another Simpsons Death Note parody, I figure why not give them a new chance with one of their usually unique episodes. This is their 33rd Treehouse of Horror and funny enough, actually closely released next to Halloween. So how well did this episode do?
Tumblr media
The first short is The Pookadook, which is a parody of The Babadook. So if you know how that story goes, you know how this one does. One thing I would like to note is Marge’s voice. I heard people complain it's not as good as it was and in a way I kind of get it. But to be fair, she’s still voice acting the same character for years but this episode really highlights it. Now while this follows the same beats as the Babadook, it has its differences.
Tumblr media
For starters, Pooka is taking on just Maggie. So to prevent the rest of the family from interfering, she’s letting them sleep with the fishes. Literally. They’re having a sleepover at an aquarium. Secondly, Maggie is much more skilled than the kid in Babadook. She manages to escape and even captures the possessed Marge. While trying to find a way to break Marge, we also see Marge get possessed since she resents not having fun when everyone else is.
Tumblr media
But Maggie eventually finds a way to break Marge from Pookadook and the two of them sucked up his essence in a vacuum cleaner. As a parody of the Babadook I found it pretty fun. The only distraction I have is Marge’s voice but when you’re using the same actress for years you have to expect something like this. I probably wouldn’t have noticed if I kept watching.
Tumblr media
The second is Death Tome, which is a parody of Death Note. But unlike the other one, this is not their first time parodying this. The Simpsons' Treehouse of Horror #14 from Bongo Comics has a parody of Death Note. In that issue, Bart was the founder of the book and Krusty was the Shinigami. Bart was reluctant though and all the deaths were reversed by the Life Book. In this parody, Lisa is our Light fill in and Moe’s voice actor is the Shinigami.
Tumblr media
This one is more of a direct parody as Lisa follows the beats of Light. She finds the book, doesn’t think it's real, kills a criminal as a test and thinks highly of herself because she can change the world for this. But there are differences. For starters, unlike the Death Note, the Death Tome works only if you kill them in a different way. And like the comic adaptation, whatever you do write down it can happen even if it's impossible.
Tumblr media
When L is on her trail, Lisa is all about killing him. In a funny nod, they point out how this is considered good and Lisa brushing it off like how Light continues to justify his actions when he’s killing more people than the worst of them. But Lisa figured out who L is. Because it's not L, it's El… As in El Barto! He read her diary and she was ready to kill him. But realizing she’s almost killed her brother has her kill the Shinigami instead. It makes her into a shinigami instead. A pretty excellent short animated by the same people who did the Death Note Anime.
Tumblr media
And finally it’s Simpsons World, a Westworld Parody. In Simpsons World, animatronics of our Simpsons crew relive multiple moments of their lives, including the Monorail episode reanimated using the original audio. And I can tell it's the original audio because you can notice how different it is when old Homer stops and new Homer begins. But because of drunks, he malfunctions and through shenanigans became self-aware.
Tumblr media
He went to save his family, with Lisa being the first he goes to since she’s the smartest person he knows,  and the hottest Marge which looks to be a classic design. They try to escape but when more fans try to make Homer do the Bush Meme, Bart turns off the “no kill” rule and Homer makes them do it, killing them. They then had to fight an army of Ralphs using various references to old episodes.
Tumblr media
The family escapes thanks to a call back to Canyonero and arrives at Bob’s Burgers. They meet Linda Belcher and we end the episode with the reveal they escaped Simpsons World to be in Bob’s Burgers World instead. Overall, a fun episode and likely made for people seeing this episode for the Death Tome and haven’t seen a Simpsons episode since the old days. Overall, I think they did a great job with this short and overall. It really goes to show you that as long as they have been going, they’re still some magic in the series.

Chapter 1
Chapter Text
"Bringing your emotions into your job is a waste of time!"
“Daddy, daddy, look what I can do!” the little girl said while jumping from a low branch. She landed on her feets and smiled, making the usual stoic man laughing in return. “You need to watch out, not that you hurt yourself!” “Can you climb up the tree too?” the little girl asked, giving her dad a toothy smile. “Melody, I can't climb up th-!” “William, either you climb up or so help me your daughter I will punish you!” he heard his wife Hannah scream.
“I wanna see how you punish me dearest!” he taunted as the woman smiled at their daughter. “Melody if you would so!” a mischievous smile was on her face as she tackled William down the chair. “Wait-!” he gasped as she tickled him mercyless. “I give up, I give up!” he said through laughter as Hannah nodded in approval. “You can stop now sweetie!” their daughter did as said and he dusted himself from the dirt. “You know I still have longer feets than the both of you?” he asked looking up. He never climbed a tree, his father would have beat him if he did so. They decided to rise their child with far less rules then him. Remembering the talk they had two months before Melody's birth, where he finally opened up to her.
“Come on, you will land on your feets anyway!” she smirked and watched her clumsy husband as he tried to climb up. Melody smiled seeing him so carefree. “You can do it daddy!” she smiled and when he grabbed for another branch it ripped off. He flew only two meters down and cursed sitting on the ground. “Are you hurt?” Hannah asked and run to her husband, the small girl close behind.
William turned to her and before she could say a word lied on the ground too and tickled her in revenge. “Stop it, you dork!” she screamed but he didn't stop. “Melody, help me!” she shrieked laughing. But before the girl could do something a dark claw grabbed her. “What?” Melody was hauled up and screamed. “Mommy, daddy!” she cried in fear. “Finally a young soul!” a dark figure said sitting her down. “Leave her!” Hannah screamed as William run forward. Armed with a broom they have in the garden. “Give me back my child!” he screamed and tried to attack, but the creature was to fast and let the girl smashed in her mother. “Daddy!” the girl said through pain as he saw the blood gushing out from the cuts in her side. “Melody!” her mother tried to calm her, to stop the bleeding.
“Hannah get her inside!” he commanded as she hauled her up. But the damon was to fast blocking the door. “Whatever you want I can give you that, but please leave her alone, she is a child!” Hannah tried as he smirked. “Well, sure you can give me the same!” his claws went through her stomach making her scream in agony. “Hannah!” the man screamed and attacked but was forcefully punched in a wall. “Daddy!” the girl screamed as the damon bit her. All left was her body, her eyes where opened in fear. “Melody!” her mother cried cradling the lifeless form in her hands. William stood up and walked to his wife and dead daughter. “I’m so sorry!” he cried and hugged her.
“William, I love you!” with her last power Hannah pushed him aside as the damon also bit her. It was so fast as the creature was gone. He couldn't believe what he saw, his beloved wife and their daughter where dead. He screamed until he had no voice left.
Days later where the funeral, people from their district gathered around mourning them. For the widower it was all a blur. He was only there because he had to appear strong, but he knew it was his last day. A man who couldn't protect their wife and child was worthless. With no emotion he sat in the first raw of the small church, listening to the pastor. He always heard the last words of Hannah, how she loved him. It made him function, at least until today.
When the funeral was over he stood in front the both gravestones, wishing the bright sun was gone. It was not fair, the lights of his life where gone, but there was the light of the sun. It was brightening this sad day. He had enough.
He took out a small gun he got a few years prior, to protect his family, but even if had the thing at hand, against the black creature it wouldn't helped. He looked at the gravestones and smiled, tears where in his eyes, it was time. “Hannah, Melody, I love you!” he pulled the trigger and felt on the ground, lying in his own blood, dying.
“Mommy, is daddy?” the little daughter asked hugging her mother tightly as they saw the light leaving his eyes. “Oh, Melody! He is but he will come to us once again and we can be a happy family once more!” “But why did he do it?” the mother just hugged her closer not giving an answere.
“Because he couldn't bear the loss of us!” she added in her mind. “It's not your fault we died sweety, I’m sorry!”
Chapter 2
Notes:
Ronald Knox. Died by jumping.
Chapter Text
His head hurt when the sun shined in his room. It was far to early in the morning to stand up but he had too. Work called for him, another day in the restaurant he was a waiter. It was the only thing he could do as he dropped from school at a very young age. Education didn't meant much to his father who couldn't read, he was scared that his good for nothing son would get smarter than him.
He got clothed in simple things, not caring how he looked. The rags became looser on his thin frame as he don't have time to eat during his job, in the evening he wanted nothing more than sleep. With a sigh he grabbed his bag for the few belongings he had, leaving the house as silent as possible.
On his way he coursed under his breath, the sun was to bright and he could see people having fun. It was not fair, he didn't wanted to become like that. He shook his head and walked to the restaurant. It was welled visited as the upper class people loved to drink their wine from here. He walked behind the corner, down the stairs to the storage room there he usual would keep his things.
“It's good to see you Ronald!” the black haired male looked to the side looking at his boss. She was followed by a woman closely the same age as his. “We need to talk!” “Mornin’, who is that?” he asked, still a bit groggily. “This is Jessica, she is a new waitress!” he hold out his hand. “I’m Ronald, should I show her around?” “That´s why I’m glad to see you that early! We have to talk!” he raised his brow. “What ‘bout?” she negated. “I had to think about the things you talked to me yesterday, about the fact that you need more money!” Ronald beamed up for a moment as the woman shattered all his hopes. “I’m sorry, but I don't need people like you who hardly work but expect more money!”
“What?” he woman became furious. “You very well understood me, Knox. You don't work at all, I know that from your colleagues and the guests, you only do the minimum of you´re job and your father is talking bad in back of this restaurant! Do you really think I want something as you to work with me?” she handed him some money. “This is all you will get for the week you worked here, and now please, leave!”
He balled his hand in a fist and turned around to go away. He wanted to cry, it was his third job in two months he lost. They way home was long and he was scared to face his father. The man surely would beat the shit out of him, he was sure. His mother would probably do nothing. He sighed, what should he do. His eyes where at the clocktower of the church, he had two hours until his father would leave for the drink tour he did everyday.
Walking to the highest building in the city he hesitated for a moment. Was he really jumping? He had no reason as most people had more shittier life than he does. But he didn't care about others. He always cared about others, and Ronald became sick of it.
He looked at the ground beneath him, knowing he would be dead fast. Ronald smiled, it was a honest one as he could finally get some peace. He leaned a bit forward as he lost his footage, feeling the wind rushing down. He closed his eyes and grinned, didn't feel the impact on the ground. Blood painted the street as people gathered around to look what happened. There where shocked gasps everywhere but it didn't bothered the young man as he got his wish and died.

A Valentine's Day Kiss
Prompt: Valentine's Day
Word count: 1040
It was early December when Grimmjow had stormed into Ichigo's personal life and turned it upside down. The substitute shinigami still remembered the embarrassing evening when Grimmjow had knocked at his door. As soon as Ichigo had opened it, Grimmjow backed him against the nearest wall. Ichigo was sure he was going to get punched or choked as Grimmjow's hand rose to his face, his fingers traced down his jaw and rested on his nape. Panic had surfaced in a blink of an eye, Ichigo's face paled, and by reflex, he grasped Grimmjow's shoulders to push him away. However, not a second later, Grimmjow had closed the few centimeters between them and pressed his lips against Ichigo's. The turmoil passing through Ichigo's mind had paralyzed him, and for better or worse, Isshin had appeared right at that moment, yanking the other away from Ichigo. From there on, Grimmjow got banned from entering the premises of the Kurosaki household.
The whole commotion happened three months ago, but for Ichigo, it seemed it had happened just yesterday. After everything that happened, Ichigo had not gotten a whiff of the blue-haired Arrancar. Yet, Ichigo still could remember the lingering feeling of dexterous fingers brushing his jaw, the warmth of Grimmjow's body against his, and the taste of those lips touching his own. Those were sensations that Ichigo couldn't get rid of, and his mind seemed to like to fill in blank spaces, providing what-if scenarios like what would have happened if Isshin hadn't shown up. At that time, Ichigo had not promptly responded to Grimmjow's advances, and, for that, he blamed his brain for not having processed the whole event quicker. However, Ichigo knew, for a fact, that he would have let Grimmjow ravish him without a second thought.
It was no secret that they were dancing around each other for a long time, their fights were as bloodied as ever, but there was more to it than meets the eyes. Ichigo had lost count of how many times he had felt Grimmjow grabbing his shuuhakushou to pull him closer just to spit out some insult. Or the times when Ichigo, himself, had touched Grimmjow's arm for longer than necessary when guiding him around Karakura town. Also, Ichigo could not deny he was attracted to that stupid Arrancar. Many times, he had stared (for far too long) at Grimmjow's ass, which made him flustered and embarrassed to death when Grimmjow's azure eyes looked at him in a questioning gaze.
Ichigo had wondered for a while why Grimmjow seemed to always come to him, like a magnet. Wherever Ichigo went to, Grimmjow would be right there giving some bullshit excuse to be following him. For a long time, Ichigo had also wondered whether or not Grimmjow felt any kind of attraction to him, but such doubts ceased to cloud his mind after that kiss.
In the middle of his daydreaming, Ichigo heard his name being called distantly. He tried to ignore it, but when his full name was yelled outside by a familiar voice, he jumped out of bed.
"Kurosaki Ichigo! Get your ass out here!"
He peaked out the window, adrenaline running down his body as he saw Grimmjow standing by the gate. He had never run so fast to open the front door, yanking it open.
"Yo, Kurosaki! It's been a while." A devious smirk was on his lips as he greeted Ichigo with a wave.
"A while?" Ichigo yelled, "You kidding, right? Why the hell did you disappear?"
Ichigo had a deep frown on his forehead, and even though he was a tad annoyed at the other, he could not keep it up as he saw the man approaching. Ichigo did not think Grimmjow could look more handsome than he already is, but he was wrong. Ichigo could not tear his eyes away from Grimmjow, who wore blue jeans and a black button-up shirt - which was purposefully not fully buttoned. His hair was that same effortlessly mess that looked divine on him, and his eyes shone like sapphires under the sunny sky.
"Had to convince your dad first to let me see you. It took longer than I expected," he spoke again when he was right in front of Ichigo.
"What do you mean..."
Grimmjow did not let him finish as he wrapped his arms around Ichigo's waist, pulling him closer. A shiver ran through his body as he felt Grimmjow's hands snaking their way under his shirt, thumbs caressing the warm skin. Ichigo could not avoid leaning in closer, resting his own hands on the other's waist as well.
"Just answer me this," Grimmjow closed more the distance between their faces, tilting his head a little so his and Ichigo's lips were aligned just right, "Will you be my valentine?"
Ichigo's breath hitched, and his eyes traveled down to Grimmjow's lips. So close, so inviting... he felt his whole body on fire, and there was no doubt that his cheeks were as red as a tomato. However, he was not letting this opportunity slip away again. So without any more mulling over, he touched Grimmjow's lips with his own. Slowly, both of their lips parted, letting instinct dictate their very movements until both were absorbed in a passionate kiss. This was why separating their lips took more effort than Ichigo had imagined. Kissing Grimmjow was addictive, and having his hands holding Ichigo tightly against his body were things that made Ichigo lose his grip on reality.
Breathlessly, they parted their lips and stared at each other. Grimmjow was the first one to break the silence.
"So, will you?"
Ichigo blinked once and then twice. And just after his brain connected the dots was when he replied.
"You are dumber than I thought..."
Grimmjow murmured an insult, but he did not let go of Ichigo. Instead, he pinched his side as a rebuttal. Ichigo jerked at the action and playfully slapped the other's ass.
"I knew you liked my ass," Grimmjow smirked, leaning in to steal a quick kiss.
"Soon you'll find out I like other things too," Ichigo replied. And before there could be any comment from Grimmjow, Ichigo kissed him again and hurriedly pulled him inside the house.

For Stuff For Renji's Birthday Prompts: 1) time travel turn back the clock nonsense, bc I'm an enabler and Karakura teens plus shithead Renruki teens has *Byakuya voice* strong comedic potential OR 2) Hisana lives but due to wacky circumstances, nobody notices Rukia's existence at the Academy... until they've graduated and Renruki have joined Squad 11. Dealer's choice! (Honestly whichever you pick, I might try writing the one you don't. I am not a writer these 2 just live in my head rent free)
Why would you make me choose between these, whyyyyyyyyyy?
To be honest, I almost did them both, but this was the second one I did, and I figured that I should probably do some other people’s prompts, and then I ran out of time. I might do you some time travel shenanigans later. (This should in no way stop you from writing these, I would flip my chips if you wrote something, let alone something based on my horrible ideas)
In any case, I couldn’t resist the second options and I have spun it out into a delightful bit of Byakuya-torture. Please enjoy!!!
Special thanks to @kaicko for helping me come up with the clerical error, because you all know me, I can’t just say “a clerical error.” 😂

“How is the tea?” Aizen Sousuke asked smoothly.
The tea was excellent, but Byakuya wasn’t in the mood for Aizen’s needy attempts to ingratiate himself. “Adequate,” he replied dryly. “You said you had something to discuss with me.”
“Ah, diligent as always, Byakuya,” Aizen sighed, “always eager to get back to work. I’ll get to the point: I happened to speak with your wife recently at a fundraising event. She’s very interested in the people of the deep Rukon, and said she travels to South Rukongai frequently.”
Byakuya narrowed his eyes. “What is your point?”
“Well, I thought it was a bit of a strange occupation for a woman of your wife’s noble standing, but then Gin reminded me that she was actually from there herself, that there had been a bit of a to-do when you two married. I don’t tend to follow gossip myself--”
“I repeat, what is your point?” Byakuya gritted your teeth.
Aizen made a pissy little throat clearing noise and fiddled with a folder on his desk. “The fact is, Byakuya, your wife reminds me a great deal of a young woman who served in my squad a few years ago, whom I recalled also hailing from the Rukon. I wondered if there might be a.... connection.”
Byakuya’s shoulders stiffened. Impossible. He had put watches on all immigrants to the Seireitei. He would have reviewed anyone who came from the South 78th.
“Inuzuri Rukia,” Aizen read from his file, and Byakuya’s blood ran cold. “Shin’ou class of 2066. Unseated. Petite, like your wife. Dark hair. Very striking eyes. Unfortunately, an unremarkable shinigami. Potential for a good kidou user, but didn’t take direction well. More interested in sword combat, although she had little aptitude for it. Ah, here it is. Hometown: District 48, South Rukongai.”
“That doesn’t make sense,” Byakuya said flatly. “Inuzuri is the 78th district of South Rukongai. Why would she carry a surname from a different district?”
Aizen made an exaggerated frown. “Very strange! A clerical error perhaps? Hold on a moment.” He stuck his head out of his office door and said something to the shinigami on reception duty. “Fortunately, there’s an easy way to clear this up. It’ll just be a minute.”
Byakuya gripped his teacup, unsure of how to feel. A clerical error. Class of 2066… she would have enrolled in 2060, in the middle of Hisana’s worst turn, when she had been bedridden for nearly four years. Their attention would have lapsed. It made sense.
“She does not sound like your usual recruit,” Byakuya accused. Aizen was constantly finding ways to skim the highest performers from the Academy, all the gifted children.
Aizen looked sheepish. “Ah, well, you see, there was a young man of some talent that I was eager to recruit who was… attached to her. I thought she might have some potential if properly guided, but it never panned out.”
Aizen’s good deed was suddenly beginning to make sense. The girl had transferred out and taken Aizen’s prize with her. He wanted Byakuya to go fetch her away in hopes that the talented one would come home. Byakuya actually felt much better now that he’d identified Aizen’s ulterior motive, and further, that it had more to do with his own petty recruiting schemes than Byakuya’s family (specifically, Byakuya’s wife).
There was a knock at the office door, and upon being bid entry, a young woman walked in. Although indeed petite and dark-haired, she looked nothing like Hisana, and Byakuya remarked as much.
“Oh, no, this is my Seventh Seat!” Aizen chuckled. “Miss Hinamori, you were friends with Inuzuri Rukia, isn’t that correct?”
The young woman’s eyes had gone wide when she recognized Byakuya. “Er, yes, sir,” she said, her eyes darting between the two captains. “We shared a room while she served here.”
“Do you happen to remember what district she was from?” Aizen asked in an overly friendly manner.
“Oh, sure, it was South 78,” Hinamori replied. “Inuzuri, of course.”
“I’m afraid I don’t know all the outermost ones,” Aizen said in his goofy voice again. “Her paperwork says 48.”
Hinamori’s brow furrowed for a moment and then her face brightened. “She and Abarai had very heavy accents when they first came to the Academy, and used a lot of deep Rukongai language quirks. I don’t remember all of it, but they both used to use ‘shichi’ instead of ‘nana’ for seven, especially when referring to their district. They weren’t very fond of their home district. I wonder if the registrar misheard.”
“Well, there you go!” Aizen said, slapping his hands on his desk. “A very logical explanation!”
Hinamori beamed.
Byakuya found Aizen’s need to be liked by his subordinates very unprofessional and off-putting, but he tried to push it aside. He was trying not to be too eager, but this was probably the best lead he’d had on Hisana’s sister in all the years they had been searching. “Where is she now?” he grumbled.
Aizen turned his doe eyes on his fawning subordinate once more. “I don’t suppose you still keep in touch? She couldn’t have lasted very long there, they must have transferred again?”
Hinamori made a face like she didn’t want to say the answer. “I’m afraid that Kira and I had a bit of a falling out with Abarai and Inuzuri when they left. I haven’t talked to them in a few years, although we still have some mutual friends. As far as I know, though, they’re both still at Squad Eleven. I heard they were doing fairly well there, actually.”
The room seemed to retreat around Byakuya. All he could hear was the blood pounding in his ears and the reverberations of the most horrible words he could possibly think of: Squad Eleven.
---
Byakuya knew it was poor etiquette to visit another captain’s squad when the man was out, but he absolutely could not stomach the idea of discussing the matter of his wife’s sister with the Kenpachi, so he waited until Zaraki and his miniature lieutenant were sent out to go trample half of East Rukongai before visiting.
He also knew that he probably should have said something to Hisana, but he couldn’t bring himself to get his wife’s hopes up, only to dash them, should this turn out to be nothing, like so many leads before it. So, the secret sat in his stomach, heavy and acidic, jostling with the guilt of his breach of etiquette.
“Is there someone here,” he gingerly asked one of the gentlemen on gate duty, “who takes care of administrative matters for the squad?”
The man swiveled his head, which appeared to grow directly from his torso with no need for an intervening neck, to his fellow guardsman. “What?”
The other fellow had been busy trying to remove wax from his ear with a pinky. “WHAT?” he shouted back.
“Paperwork!” Byakuya said a little louder. “Is there an office of some sort? A person who knows what’s going on?”
He supposed he could have asked for the girl, Inuzuri, directly, but he didn’t feel… ready.
“I think he wants Ayasegawa,” the neckless guard hazarded.
“WHAT?”
“I’ll be right back.”
Eventually, the burly gentleman returned. With him was a strangely elegant person with a silky curtain of hair cut severely to chin length and piercing violet eyes. “It really is you,” the lovely man said with a level of disdain that Byakuya almost had to admire. Before he had a chance to get offended, the man dipped into a respectful bow. “Welcome to the Eleventh, Captain Kuchiki. Fifth Seat Ayasegawa at your service. What in Soul Society can I possibly do for you?”
“Apologies for visiting while your captain is abroad,” Byakuya replied, not meaning a word of it.
“Oh, he’ll be very sorry to have missed you,” Ayasegawa frowned. “But I’m sure you could make it up to him later.”
Byakuya’s eye twitched. “Perhaps. I have come to enquire about a young woman whom I am told transferred to your squad three years ago.”
“Does she have a name? That might make it a little easier.”
“Inuzuri Rukia.”
Both of Ayasegawa’s eyebrows shot up, and his mouth curved into a feline grin. “Ninth Seat Inuzuri, of course!”
Byakuya blinked. “Ninth Seat? Captain Aizen told me she was middling at best.”
Ayasegawa's face suddenly went stiff. “She was not well-served at the Fifth, but she has bloomed here most beautifully. Inuzuri is my personal protege, you know.” He stared at Byakuya under hooded eyes. “What is your interest in her? Captain?”
Byakuya took a deep breath through his nose. “My wife is also from Inuzuri. She is trying to locate someone she knew there. It is possible this Rukia is that someone.”
Ayasegawa frowned. “Well, I can introduce you, if you like. I should warn you, though, Rukia doesn’t have a lot of lost love for her hometown.”
“My understanding is that there isn’t much to love about it.”
“Mmm,” Ayasegawa agreed. “Well, come along, let’s go find her.” He concentrated for a moment, clearly trying to find her reiatsu. She must be a woman of some power, after all. “Ugh! She and Abarai are at it again! Every day!”
Byakuya swallowed stiffly.
“Well come on! She’s out at the training fields, clobbering our Tenth Seat, yet again.”
Oh. That kind of “going at it.”
Ayasegawa was shaking his head. “The two of them are literally an unstoppable force and an immovable object.”
“Abarai was also at the Fifth?,” Byakuya probed cautiously. “I was told they were close.”
“Of course they’re close!” Ayasegawa scoffed. “They’re partners!” He thought for a moment. “Abarai is from the 78th as well, you know. If Rukia turns out to not be your girl, perhaps one or the other of them knew the person you’re looking for. Abarai is one of those people who just… knows everyone. He’s the personable half of the pair.”
“‘Partners’?” Byakuya echoed. “What… kind of partners?”
Ayasegawa stared back at him like he was insane. “Partners.”
This path of inquiry clearly wasn’t going to get him anywhere, but wasn’t particularly relevant, either. “I did not think kidou-type zanpakutou were permitted in the Eleventh,” Byakuya sniffed. “Aizen’s records indicated Inuzuri wields an ice-and-snow type.”
Ayasegawa gave a little shrug. “Zanpakutou classifications are arbitrary. Obviously, if she had a bunch of showy blizzard attacks like Matsumoto’s little prodigy friend, it would be a no-go. Rukia can take the blade of her sword down to sub-zero temperatures. She has a weapon-shattering attack and she doesn’t feel pain when she’s fighting. It’s fundamentally no different than a zanpakutou so massive that only the wielder can lift it, or a whip sword that’s controlled with one’s reiatsu.”
This sounded like a quibble to Byakuya, but it’s not like he had come to the Eleventh looking for sound logic.
“She’s incredibly fast, probably the fastest person in the Eleventh, although no one’s really sure what Yachiru’s top speed is,” Ayasegawa continued on. He glanced at Byakuya slyly. “I hear you are very fast.”
“You have heard correctly.”
“That’s why Abarai can’t beat her. If he could land one really hard hit on her, she’d go down, but he’s not fast enough and she’s just too agile. He’s my partner’s protege, you see, so I have to take their little scraps very personally.”
How did this man talk so much?
“What did you say your wife’s relationship was to her again?”
“I did not.”
“Ah, right. Oops, look out!” Ayasegawa abruptly dove to one side as a giant mass of shihakushou and pink hair and what might be a sword came crashing through the split rail fence surrounding the training field.
Byakuya was not in the habit of ducking, so he merely plunged the force of his reiatsu down into the earth like a piton. It was almost, but not entirely sufficient. Byakuya gritted his teeth as he was driven back, dirt piling up behind his heels as he skidded backwards.
When they finally came to a halt, Byakuya looked down at the meaty youth lying at his feet. This must be the infamous Abarai, although he certainly didn’t look like one of Aizen’s usual simpering overachievers. The first thing Byakuya observed was the eye makeup. Most shinigami applied at least a little eyeliner, on grounds of tradition, but few bothered to blacken the entire eye socket, as in the skeletal facepaint of old. The second thing Byakuya noticed were the tattoos painted across his forehead and neck. They were black and spikey and horrible. The third thing was the hair, which was bright pink and spikey, and utterly at odds with the makeup and tattoos. The fourth thing was the big, sheepish grin, which honestly just tied the whole hideous tableau together.
Byakuya glared down at the lout, and in a moment of pettiness, flared his reiatsu to a level that should have sent blood spurting out of his ears.
“I’m afraid that’s not going to do much to someone who has a weekly sparring slot with the Kenpachi,” Ayasegawa commented dryly.
“Sorry ‘bout that!” the lummox cheerfully apologized as he sat up and brushed himself off. He had an Inuzuri accent so thick you could spread it on toast, an accent that Hisana tended to slip into only when she was extremely bent out of shape. Abarai snapped the sword hilt in his hand, and the tangled pile of steel on the ground neatly retracted into something that looked a little more like a weapon, if a weapon were designed by a creative and overly violent child.
“That’s a captain, you buffoon!” another voice rang out, and every muscle in Byakuya’s body locked. “Show your respects!”
The voice clearly affected Abarai as well, because he leapt to his feet, spun, and slammed into a bow. “My apologies, Captain…” his eyes glanced up and abruptly widened, “Kuchiki.”
“Greetings, Captain Kuchiki! Welcome to the Eleventh Division! I apologize very profusely for throwing Tenth Seat Abarai at you!” A second young person had come to join Abarai in his bow, and they both rose in unison, Abarai looking suddenly pale and nervous, his companion looking calm and confident.
So this was Inuzuri Rukia. She had Hisana’s voice. She had Hisana’s stature, and standing next to Abarai made her look positively childlike. She wore the same dreadful eyeblack, but the eyes that shone out of it were a variation on Hisana’s, harder and three shades more purple. The rest of the face was Hisana’s. Her hair was dark, shaved on the sides, arranged into porcupine spikes on top, although one lock hung down stubbornly between her eyes. Her ears glittered with silver piercings. At least she was free of awful tatt-- wait, no. Byakuya had missed them at first, because they were white. Abarai’s tattoos were spiky and sharp, but Inuzuri’s were graceful swirls, like ribbons wrapping lazily down her forearms. Even her reiatsu was like Hisana’s-- but instead of a cool, refreshing wintergreen, Inuzuri’s was the bone-deep cold of winter, a cold so harsh it burnt in the lungs.
There was no doubt.
This atrocious delinquent was his long-lost sister-in-law.
“Can we help you with something, sir?” Inuzuri prompted. “Abarai here’s a big fan of yours.”
“Shut up, Rukia,” Abarai managed through gritted molars.
“Inuzuri Rukia, you died as an infant thirty-six years ago and were sent to the 78th District of South Rukongai, is that correct?” Byakuya said stiffly.
Inuzuri and Abarai both bristled, a pair of mongrels raising their haunches. “That seems about right,” Inuzuri replied slowly. “My early years are a little hazy.”
“My wife, Hisana also died thirty-six years ago and was sent to Inuzuri with her infant sister,” Byakuya went on. “They were separated. My wife has been looking for her sister ever since. You… resemble her greatly.” Byakuya let the implication hang in the air. He couldn’t bring himself to say it.
There was silence for a moment. Then there was the distinct noise of a laugh that, having been held in, had escaped through someone’s nose. “Sorry! Pardon me!” Ayasegawa wheezed, clapping one hand over his mouth and looking away. “Bit of. Dust. In my throat.”
“I told you! I told you, you looked like that picture of her in the Bulletin!” Abarai was hissing.
“I thought you were lying because you thought she was pretty!” Inuzuri hissed back.
“I thought she was pretty because she looks just like you!”
“Now is really not the time, Abarai!” She cleared her throat and tried to stand up a bit taller, a futile effort. “So, uh, so what? What does that mean, if I am her sister? Does that… does that make me noble?”
A higher pitched wheezing came out of Ayasegawa. The level of impudence was extraordinary.
“I would like you to come to my home to meet her, first,” Byakuya put off making any promises. “We can discuss what comes next. As a family.”
“I’m at work right now,” Inuzuri excused.
“Inuzuri, I need to know how this pans out, you can have the afternoon off,” Ayasegawa informed her.
Inuzuri’s confidence seemed to be draining out of her. She took a tiny step closer to Abarai and groped for his hand. “I’m bringing Renji,” she declared.
“Is he compulsory?” Byakuya asked. Inuzuri was absurd looking too, but at least she was small.
“He’s my family,” Inuzuri insisted.
Byakuya’s brows furrowed. This could prove problematic. “In any sort of legally binding sense?”
“We’re engaged!” Inuzuri announced.
“We are?” Abarai goggled.
“I told you I’d marry you if you could ever manage to beat me in a fight! What else would you call that?” Rukia hissed at him in a voice that was still, unfortunately, perfectly audible.
“I’ve been trying every day, and honestly, Rukia, it’s not looking good for me!”
“Can you just go with it for once, instead of arguing with me every time?”
“If you want to leave and never tell anyone you found her,” Ayasegawa put in, “I am very bribable.”
Byakuya was sorely tempted.

End note: To further explain the number mix-up, as I understand it “seven” in Japanese can either be said as “nana” or “shichi”. People usually say “nana” for two reasons-- 1) to avoid confusion with 4 (”shi”, although you can also say “yon”) and because “shi” is a homophone for death. Given how shitty the districts in the 70s are, I rather liked the idea that they residents use the “shichi” pronunciation as a bit of gallows humor. (And if you don’t have a rude nickname for the town you grew up in, well, congrats for not growing up somewhere shitty)
I don’t actually speak Japanese, tho, so forgive me if this is all nonsense. 😁

Fandom: Death Note
Pairing: L Lawliet X Yagami!Reader
Words: 1.5k
Warnings: Violence and death (but it’s death note :P)
Tumblr media
Being Light Yagami’s sister was hard for both younger girls.
Y/N and Sayu were immensely proud of the older man, all whilst being envious. However, Y/N was less envious due to her own intelligence rivalling that of the older Yagami. That was one of the reasons that he chose her. In fact, that was the reason he had her help him create a new world, one of which they would both rule together.
Understandably the younger sibling was afraid.
She had noticed the genius changing during a short amount of time, but she had simply dismissed it, blaming it on teenage hormones. But it never got better, it got worse. Before he would spend time with the family, taking time out of his busy schedule to bond with them, but now he was constantly in his room ‘studying’.
“Light?” Y/N’s voice sounded from behind the door which was shortly followed by a knock. “Can I come in?”
A chuckle left Ryuk’s lips at Lights panicked expression that was simply caused by the voice of the younger girl behind the door.
Light had been so busy for the last few weeks that he had completely forgotten about their agreement to spend some time together whilst the rest of the family were away.
“Yeah, come in,” he called back, wincing at the sound of the door creaking open to reveal the Y/H/C-haired girl.
“What’s up?” A grin was plastered on her lips as she flopped onto his bed, narrowly missing touching the death note that he had carelessly left there whilst he took a short break from killing criminals.
“Be careful, Light.” The shinigami’s voice caught Light’s attention, eyes glancing to the tall figure, “Anyone who touches that notebook can see me, as well as hear me.” Another laugh left his lips.
As though it was planned, Y/N’s fingers reached for the book, “Hey, what’s this?”
Her eyes widened as she glanced up at the tall death God who simply gave her a small wave along with a ‘hi’.
“H-hello…?” Y/N’s shaky voice left her lips, something that Ryuk shook his head at. “Light? Wha…”
Unbeknownst to her, Light was already situated on the floor in front of her. He gently grasped her cheek, tilting her wide eyes to look into his own.
“Y/N, I am Kira. Will you help me create a new world?”
It had felt like forever since that day. Names no longer meant a thing to her, just a string of letters to write down to end somebody’s life.
Things got even more tricky when her and Light had been asked to join the investigation by L himself, someone that Y/N began to unwillingly develop a small crush on. Considering that he was searching to kill her and Light, she guessed that this crush was probably a bad thing.
Some may think that things could not get worse from there, but oh boy, they can.
“Y/N,” L’s deep voice brought the girl from her thoughts, bringing her back to reality.
He was seated beside her, cake placed on the desk in front of him, yet his attention was focused solely on her.
“Are you okay?” Those three words that left his lips shocked her, unable to make eye contact with him she decided to instead glance down at his lips, nerves taking over her.
Lawliet caught onto her anxiety immediately, placing his cold hand on top of the warmth of her own to calm her, something that he often did.
Not only did it get her to relax, but he also enjoyed touching her, not that he would ever admit that to anybody of course. Especially not when you remember that she was the sister of his main suspect for the Kira case. However, he had never suspected her of a thing. Too blinded by love? Perhaps.
“Ryu?” Confusion filled her Y/E/C orbs as she leant up to face him, only to see his own gaze on her lips.
She wasn’t stupid; she knew what that meant.
She heard a chuckle behind her, one she immediately recognised at Ryuk’s. Said chuckle only became louder as he witnessed the detective and the death note holders’ lips touch.
The entirety of the task force, including L, stood around Light, Y/N slightly situated to the side of him whilst he laughed.
“That’s right,” a smirk covered his lips, “I’m Kira. But I’m not the only one.” Light’s eyes darted towards his younger sister who stood as still as a statue, fear filling her body as she realised that her boyfriend would want to kill her, and she would have to kill her boyfriend.
“Y/N…” Lawliet’s voice held a hint of betrayal in it as he spoke, watching as she stepped towards Light who handed her a death note before pushing her to the side again.
“Do the honours,” Light grinned, glancing towards L, prepared to watch him fall to the ground from a heart attack.
Light believed that the relationship between the detective and his sister was fake, something she was using to their advantage to win the war. Little did he know that she loved him, she loved him more than she loved her own psychopathic brother.
An idea flashed into Y/N’s head as she nodded, feeling Ryuk stood behind her who was enjoying the drama unfolding before him.
She brought the pen to the page, ignoring everyone’s pleas for her to stop as she wrote. The look of betrayal and hurt on the raven-haired man struck pain into her heart, but she knew what she was doing was right.
“Goodbye, L. Kira will always win.” Light’s manic laugh sounded again as he spoke, ignoring Ryuk’s own laugh which everyone could hear also.
Light’s laugh came to a halt as he began coughing.
“Y-Y/N…?” A look of betrayal filled his face before being covered in anger as he glared at her. “Ryuk! Kill her.” He coughed again, becoming desperate as he realised what she had done.
She had written his name, not L’s.
“Sorry, Light.” Ryuk chuckled, “I always said I wasn’t on yours or L’s side, but Y/N truly wins this one.” Another chuckle left his lips as he patted Y/N’s hair in a comforting manner, tears falling down her cheeks as she watched the life leave Kira’s eyes.
Both the book and pen fell from her shaking hands, body dropping to the ground as she burst into uncontrollable sobs.
“I-I’m sorry, I didn’t want to.”
Nobody moved an inch, scared that this was all an act.
“Please, don’t hate me.” Hands reaching up to her hair, Y/N began to pull tightly to relieve, at least some of, her anxiety.
Matsuda had walked towards Light, checking his body for a pulse.
There was none.
“Y/N,” Lawliet was the first of the task force to speak, “breathe.”
Another sob left her lips as she desperately clawed at her hair.
L climbed up onto his feet, making his way towards her. “It’s okay,” he whispered, kneeling in front of her, “Light can’t hurt you anymore.”
“I killed him, Ryu. I killed my own brother.” Tears cascaded down her cheeks, body wracked with sobs that only increased as Ryuzaki pulled her into a tight hug.
“You did what you had to.”
The rest of the task force stood still in horror at what had just happened.
The girl they had never suspected was responsible for the killings. Not only her, her genius brother also. From what they could piece together, it was unwilling on her part, anybody could deduce that much. It was evident from the genuine remorse she showed that she regretted everything.
“I’m sorry,” Y/N’s hands left her hair to wrap around the detective, afraid that when she opens her eyes he’d be gone; afraid that he would hate her. “I didn’t want to hurt you; I didn’t want to hurt anyone.”
L shushed her, pale hands moving to massage her hair in a soothing manner, “it’s okay.”
The two remained like that for what felt like hours, both as afraid as the other to pull away in case this was all a dream, in case they would lose each other.
“I love you,”

Y’all wanna read my Apritello story?
So sometimes when my artistic drive is down, the writing bug will come bite me. I’ve been working on an Apritello story for awhile that currently has three chapters that are up on my Patreon. Eventually I’ll post it publicly, but I want my patrons to have early access. Anyway here’s an excerpt from the first chapter.
It’s kind of angsty.
The summary is, April invites Donnie to join her for a long weekend at the farmhouse, which sounds romantic until you consider that she’s been plagued with visions of his accidental death and is desperate to stop it from happening.
To say there was tension in the air was a drastic understatement. Truthfully, things had been tense for a while. Blame it on cabin fever, or perhaps they were outgrowing their sewer lair, but the brothers had been quick to jump down each other’s throats.
Leo was especially on edge, and not unlike how it had been since they were kids, his mood had set the tone for everyone else. One thing that differed from childhood though, was that he had been butting heads with Donnie, while Raph remained a mostly neutral third party.
There was the knowledge that they were getting older and they all had desires to get out there and live their own lives, and then the realization that doing so wasn’t really possible for them in the world they lived in. They wanted what any young adults would want, but they were mutants.  The world still saw them as freaks. They couldn’t lead normal lives the way they wanted to. They knew this, they had known this all their lives. They had all been on the same page about it. They realized that living their lives in the sewer, at least most of it, was probably in the cards. April had always contested this idea, believing that the world would accept them in time. It’s not like people didn’t know mutants existed, but the turtles weren’t willing to take the risk. It’s not like they couldn’t go out and do things like they always had, but leaving the nest for good just wasn’t feasible. And they were content with this. The sewer was all they’d ever known. They’d always been together and they were happy to always be together.
But like all families, arguments were inevitable. Familiarity breeds contempt, after all. And they were accustom to bickering. But… it was different now. Leo seemed ready to explode at the drop of a pen, Raph never seemed to be able to find enough alone time, Donnie felt like he brought more to the table than the other three combined, and Mikey… sweet Mikey was such an incurable optimist that he sought to find the positive in every situation, but they knew he did this to mask his depression.
If asked what they were arguing about today, the simple answer would be that they were all just getting on each other’s nerves. Donnie couldn’t even remember how the argument started because they fought about trivial things so frequently, but he remembered the thing that Leo said that set him off.
“God, why is it so hard for you to just do your part? Why do we have to pick up your slack?”
Donnie was silent for a moment, almost unsure he’d heard correctly. “Excuse me?”
“You heard me, you never fucking help out with anything!” Leo’s tone implied that there was something else he was upset about that he wasn’t speaking of.
Donnie, by his best effort, kept his voice calm and composed. “I’m sorry, are you referring to three days ago when I didn’t help clean up the disaster in the kitchen because I was literally putting the microwave back together? Or perhaps last week when you left a mess for me to clean up that you all made while I wasn’t even here? And then you got mad when I didn’t?”
Leo seemed to get more aggravated at the mention of Donnie not being there, but continued on. “C’mon man, there are four of us that live here, it’s really not asking too much for everyone to help clean up around here.”
“Dude, I clean up after myself more than anyone. The difference is, when I make a mess, it’s in my lab rather than communal space and-“
“Oh, right, I forgot. The huge space you have that’s your’s. That none of us have.” Leo turned to their other brothers who sat near by. “Hey Raph, other than your tiny bedroom, do you have your own creative space that you can do whatever you want in? Mikey, how about you?”
Raph hadn’t spoken, but seemed invested in the exchange his brothers were having. It was impossible to tell who’s side he was on. Before Mikey could speak, Raph stopped him and said firmly, “Leave us out of this, man.”
“So now your mad at me… because of my lab?”
Leo paused, not making eye contact, before he huffed. “No.” He admitted quietly.
Normally, Donnie was used to these arguments making little or no sense, but Leo seemed genuinely angry and he couldn’t understand why.
“Bro, what is up?” He demanded. “Why are you actually so upset?”
“I just…” Leo started. Donnie could tell there was something he didn’t want to say. Leo crossed his arms and turned away from his brother. “I just want to know… where your priorities are.”
“My priorities?” Donnie was trying not to lose his patience. He had no idea where this was coming from nor where it was going. Which meant one of two things. Either there was something his brother wasn’t telling him, or this was in fact going no where. Like, this had started out a fight about cleaning duties, and now he’s talking about priorities. If Leo did have a point, he wanted him to hurry up and make it because this argument seemed like a waste of time.
“It just…” Leo blew another huff through his nose. “It just seems like… you are… distancing yourself from us, Donnie.”
This statement completely threw Don for a loop. He hadn’t expected that at all. “What in the world are you talking about?” He asked, truly bewildered by the turn in conversation. “Because I don’t want to clean up messes that aren’t mine? Like what the hell-?”
“No, obviously it’s not that. It’s alot of things.” Leo spoke quieter now, not as impassioned.
“Well, I would love to know what those things are, because I am completely lost here.”
“You never want to hang out with us anymore, and when you do, you act like you’d rather be doing anything else-“
Donnie cut him off with a humorless chuckle. “We’re brothers, we all get on each other’s nerves.”
“And I get that, but we do all still live together and we all need to contribute to the household chores, and you’ve just been acting like you are so far above doing any type of housework that doesn’t directly effect you.”
“Well, excuse me Leo, sorry if when it rains and the power get knocked out and I have to go topside by myself in the cold pouring rain to fix the power line, I don’t also want to have to mop up the leak in the kitchen when none of you did anything to help!”
“Okay, you keep bring up specific instances, but I’m talking about in general-“
“No, you’re talking alot of nonsense is what you’re doing!” Donnie’s lack of patience was starting to show. “First you’re mad that you think I don’t clean enough, then you’re mad that I have a lab and you don’t? Then you say I’m distancing myself from you all…?” Donnie stood and made a move like he was going to walk away. “If you have something to say, Leo, you better just say it because this whole conversation seems like a waste of time to me. It’s late and I’m tired, so make your point, or I’m going to bed.”
“Are you distancing yourself from us because of April?”
Donnie had already started walking away, as he didn’t expect Leo to actually have a point, so he was halted to a standstill at his words. “What does she have to do with anything?”
Leo looked away again, like he didn’t actually want to have this conversation. After a moment, he sighed and continued without making eye contact. “It just seems like… I mean… I thought we were all on the same page here. We’ve had this discussion, a long time ago. We aren’t…. Human. We’re getting older and it makes sense that we’d want to start living our own lives, but… we can’t. Not really. The world doesn’t accept us, so staying down here is just how it has to be. I thought we had agreed on that. That no matter what the world thought of us, no matter that we can’t lead normal lives, at least we all had each other. But… now it seems like you have other plans, Donnie.”
He finally looked at his brother and Donnie could see the emotions in his eyes. Nothing of what he said had been new information, of course. Donnie knew, painfully well, that the world saw them as freaks and being “normal” was not a luxury they’d ever be able to have. Alot of their friends were at the point where they were starting to branch off, which didn’t help. Karai and Shinigami were currently back in Japan. It was just a visit, but the kind of visit that lasted for a month or two. Casey had gotten a hockey scholarship for a different school than the one April attended. He was trying to go pro, so he poured all his time and attention into practicing. He still came around, but not like he used to. Mona Lisa had left Earth awhile ago, also with promise to return, but they hadn’t heard from her in a few weeks. They were sure it was just a new mission she had, but that didn’t make Raph feel any better. April was the only one who still came around all the time. With most of their enemies gone, everyone was moving on and it felt like the world didn’t need them anymore.
The pain in Leo’s voice would’ve normal made Donnie want to hug him, but it was the accusation that he couldn’t get over.
“Leo…” He gestured non threateningly with his hands. “Why are you acting like I’m not literally living down here in the sewers right along with you? And I still don’t see what April has to do with anything-”
“Okay, I’m going to jump in here.” Raph said unexpectedly. “Look, Dude, I know we don’t… we don’t say it enough but… we would be up schitts creek without a paddle without you.” He crossed the room to give Leo a lighthearted punch in the arm. “Wouldn’t we, Leo?”
“…Yeah.”
“So because of that, the idea of you leaving is…. It’s scary.” Raph admitted. He was going to say something else, but Donnie interrupted.
“I’m not going anywhere! What in the actually hell are you guys talking about?!”
Leo rolled his eyes, apparently getting annoyed again. “Don, can we please stop pretending like you’re not going to marry April and then move in with her?”
Donnie froze. To say they touched a nerve was an understatement. April was his best friend, but truthfully, it was very painful to be her friend sometimes. His feelings for her were still just as intense as ever, but for different reason now. In his youth, he’d maintained a kind of innocent hopefulness that they would someday be together, and he never even really thought of the details of how. He knew, even back then, that it wasn’t that simple and when he really thought about it, nothing about it made sense. Which is why he didn’t think about it. Now though, after some soul searching and dropping into a deep depression which he was starting to get better from, he’d resigned himself to the reality that she would never be with him. He’d accepted it, and told himself that it was enough to just be her friend. But the truth was, that pain never went away.  They had such a close friendship, they had developed such a level of comfort with each other, but he knew it would never be enough. The idea of never seeing her again was unbearable, but to be so close to her, knowing that it was as close as he would ever get… it was torture. He didn’t care though, he just couldn’t let her go.
What really hurt was when she would talk about the next stage in her life. She was in school now, but with her grades and what she was studying, she could go anywhere. She wanted to travel, she spoke of it often. She never made any committal remarks about moving away, other than when she talked about the farmhouse and saying how expensive it is to live in the city. Her dad had signed the property over to her for tax reasons, and she would’ve inherited it anyway. She wanted to renovate it.
He was only vaguely aware that Raph and Leo were still talking.
“It’s not like we’re mad at you for finding love, that’s not it at all!” Raph was saying, obviously more concerned than Leo about ruffling his brother’s feathers. “It’s just, we need to be realistic about what would happen if you weren’t here.”
“Yeah, and the reality is, frankly, I think we all feel left behind by our friends, but we didn’t think  our clan would be breaking up as well!” Leo threw his hands up, finally letting his true feelings out. “I mean, all we have is each other, we’re the last of the Hamato clan! I can’t let this clan die, I just can’t.”
“Why do you guys feel the need to do that?”
They stopped, taken aback by how low and serious Donnie’s voice was. He was done barking, he looked ready to bite.
“Do what?”
Donnie’s chest felt tight and he had to taken in a sharp breath through his nose to keep his cool. “Why do you guys feel the need to not only remind me of my unrequited feelings for my… our  best friend… but now, you’re holding it against me?”
Raph looked concerned at first, but then sighed. “Donnie, c’mon, don’t act like you wouldn’t jump at the opportunity to get out of here. April isn’t going to stay in New York forever.”
The statement, while probably true, hurt to hear. “What does that have to do with me?” He said, quieter this time. “I can’t help what April does.”
“Dude, she is literally planning her future with you in it. Have you not noticed that?” Leo nearly screamed. “You have the opportunity to get out of here and do something with your life, and we’ll be-“
“No she’s not!” Donnie shouted back. “Are you guys smoking crack or something? Don’t say that shit to me! April doesn’t…” He paused, his words getting caught in his throat. “April doesn’t want me. I thought we’d been over this.”
Mikey, who hadn’t yet spoke, immediately picked up on how much pain Donnie was in. “Hey guys, let’s just drop it, yeah?”
Leo pressed on as if his youngest brother hadn’t spoken. “Maybe she didn’t five years ago, but she sure as shit does now.” He didn’t seem bothered by Donnie visible cringe. “I mean, dude, you’ve spent the night, alone at her house.”
“So has Mikey. And Raph once, I think.” Donnie said quietly, and Raph nodded in confirmation. “And she’s spent the night here a billion times, that doesn’t mean anything.”
“Mikey and Raph didn’t sleep in her bed.” Leo said accusingly.
“I did.”
They all paused and turned to the youngest brother. Raph spoke. “You did?”
“Every time I go over there, I sleep in her bed.” Mikey said matter-o-factly. “Whenever… whenever I’m sad, she let’s me come over and… she’ll listen. She doesn’t try to offer solutions, she doesn’t try and tell me things to make me feel better, she just… listens. And that’s what helps me the most. Then we watch funny videos.”
None of them commented at first. They all knew Mikey struggled with depression, but he rarely, if ever, talked about it. They all had told him at some point that they were there if he needed to talk, but he never came to any of them. One might of thought that hearing that his brother shared a bed with April might make Donnie jealous, but quite the opposite, it made him very happy and appreciative to hear about it. It made sense that Mikey would be more comfortable talking to April than to any of them, and to know that she had been there for him was comforting. Donnie wanted that for his brother.
“See?” He said finally, more to Leo than anyone else. “April… she’s there for all of us. She cares about all of us… I’m not special.”
“Donnie, don’t say that.” Mikey offered and rose from his seat to place a hand on his brother’s shoulder. Donnie placed his own hand over Mikey’s and squeezed it, staring at the floor.  “She cares about you the most. More than you know.”
“Mikey, please, please don’t.” He said through his teeth. “I can’t… I can’t even believe we’re having this conversation right now. You know how long it took me to accept the fact that I was kidding myself by thinking there could ever be something between us? Of course you guys know, which is why it is so baffling to me that you feel the need to do this.”
“So if April wanted you to move away with her, you wouldn’t do it?”
Raph punched Leo in the arm again. It was a strange thing, to see Raph scold Leo for being insensitive. Donnie had had enough though.
“I’m out of here.” He turned on his heel and heading towards the turnstiles.

La Mort - 3
(A few days later)
Tumblr media
Kohaku: Keep warm. This is the supposed "European village". I wanted to know what it would be like to recreate the local building. Is the real Europe like this?
Tumblr media
Rei: Hmm. I used to travel abroad a lot, but the atmosphere lacks a sense of accomplishment. This brick building looks like a city I visited while studying abroad. Also, the church in the distance is a copy of a real thing, the finish is unbelievably solid.
Tumblr media
Nagisa: If I remember correctly, this village was a theme park boom during the bubble era. The park opened at a time when the economy was booming and even after that it continued to operate on a small scale. I heard it was recently closed down after years of deficit management.
Rei: Oh, Ran knows a lot. As a theme park, it certainly came to an unhappy end, but one could say that this old-fashioned feeling gives it a very local feel. Ran is also familiar with the local landscape, right?
Nagisa: Me? I kind of know. I didn't do anything big enough to go study abroad.
Tumblr media
Mayoi: Guys, it's amazing... I look like a sleeper. Out here it's so... Much less abroad, I hardly traveled in the country. Speaking of outstanding trips, I think I went to Hokkaido in the SS qualifying round.
Tumblr media
Ritsu: Well, idol jobs include all kinds of venues, and the interiors are already full. I'm the type that doesn't want to go out much unless I have something to do at home. Family places are the best. Futons, beds...
Mayoi: So, it's not...! You say the familiar place is the best? I was wondering what I should do if everyone on "Shuffle Unit" had a lot of life experience, but I'm glad you sympathized with me. (Voice low) Also, not only Sakuma but also Ritsu... When I get to know him, he's not as scary as my parents told me.
Ritsu: Ha? What is wrong with me?
Mayoi: N-No! Anything! Also, do you have any travel experience? At least it looks like you've never been to Europe.
Kohaku: Ah, I don't have that kind of experience either, do I? I felt relieved as did Mayoi. Even in this European village, I felt out of place, so I wondered if I was the only one floating around.
Rei: Hmm. Apparently, the team is also getting together. Let's say hello to everyone. Anzu and others also went to the site first and inspected the situation at the site. Looks like it would be nice to tell them the roles and names so they can remember us.
Nagisa: Well, we're new actors and generally we're going to be more polite.
Tumblr media
Rei: To all the staff, thank you for coming together for us. This time, Rei Sakuma will play Hardy in "The Shinigami of Condermnation". I will act in a way that is not ashamed of the position that I was selected for the lead role. Thank you very much.
Nagisa: ...I'm Nagisa Ran. This time, I will play "Shinigami of Gravekeeper". Nice to meet you. I am not good at communicating with all employees, but I will do my best to act.
Kohaku: Umm. I'm a rookie idol who plays the "boy half reaper". I'm very flexible, so if there's something wrong with my intonation, please let me know!
Mayoi: Ah, I'm also a rookie, but I'll play "Hyoketsu No Shinigami", I'm Mayoi. Wow, I have a tendency to get scared, but I'll do my best. I will do my best!
Ritsu: My name is Ritsu. I made to play "Eternal Shinigami". Thanks. We'll be able to create a vision of a world of wonderful work together, I'm happy.
Rei: Everyone seems to have been able to say hello to the team properly. Good boy! Well then, let's change immediately as soon as we put our luggage down.
Tumblr media
Ritsu: Wait a minute. I'm still in the middle of my greeting so can you please not force me to settle like this?
Rei: ....... Mayoi, Kohaku, if anything comes up, please let me know. I'm anxious.
Mayoi: Yes! I will go!!
Kohaku: My senior showed me a model and it helped me~
Tumblr media
Ritsu: ...? (Just now, my brother blatantly ignored me. Come to think of it, you were strangely quiet today. No, no, I think I'm overthinking it. Was it just an acquaintance that timing was bad now? I couldn't believe my older brother was ignoring me. You can't repeat it, can you?)

Heat Waves Been Fakin’ Me Out-
(Can’t make you happier now). ━━━━━━━━━━━━ Word Count: 1679 TW: Anxiety Attack Author's Notes: This was inspired by that trend on TikTok when people reminisce to the chorus of Heat Waves by Glass Animals, and I realized that wow, this trend really fits Kisuke and the massive guilt he has. Let's exploit that. ━━━━━━━━━━━━ The sweltering summer heat settled across the city of Karakura, making it’s citizens suffer from the moment they opened their doors to leave their houses to the moment they reached their (hopefully air conditioned) location. Children played in the splash pads or in public swimming pools, dipping their feet in the rivers and streams, or crunched happily on flavored shaved ice. Anything to beat the heat, realistically.
Sweat slowly trailed down between tense shoulder blades as Kisuke listened to Rojuro sing along to the radio. The shop did have central air, thankfully, but even that didn’t seem to give a blessed respite from the heat that rolled in through the door every time it opened. He never had been good at handling the heat; had always suffered in the summers of Soul Society when he’d been young. Yoruichi used to tease him about it, despite being just as miserable at the time.
Thankfully, as the sun began to dip below the horizon, the heat began to lift and a sweet summer breeze danced through the air. It was then that they were able to function as Tessai and Kensei worked on dinner. It was weekly, this little get-together, planned carefully to avoid detection or an accidental brush with someone from Soul Society- or someone with stolen powers and a horrible case of hero syndrome.
“Ne, Shin- hand me that cup, would you?” HIyori asked, not bothering to sit up from her sprawled position on the tatami. Kisuke couldn’t blame her- she suffered almost as badly as he did.
“Get it yerself,” Shinji stated even as he reached over, taking hold of the cup before handing it off to the other. She hummed her thanks and placed the bottom of the cup on her forehead, sighing at the feeling of the cool perspiration settling on her skin. Lisa let out a snort at the sight as she reached into her own cup, plucking out an ice chip to pop into her mouth. A moment later, she crunched down on it.
“That means you have an iron deficiency,” Hachi commented as he fanned himself, eyes closed. “Perhaps you should purchase some supplemental tablets.”
“Maybe,” Lisa murmured, gaze not lifting from the book she was engrossed in. “Or maybe I just like the way it feels when I bite down.”
“You always did like biting,” Rose mused with a smile as he brought in a fresh tray of drinks. “I remember watching you fight- you almost took a chunk out of Kyoraku-taichou.”
“I wonder if he scarred?” Mashiro questioned, her gaze darting about the room.
“Probably,” Kisuke hummed, grimacing at the way his haori clung to his skin. Gross. Even so, his mind began to drift. This was nice- seeing them all together, no one really arguing- hearing the laughter drift from the kitchen as Tessai tried to do an onion volcano, only for it to fail in a tiny puff of smoke. Love had settled in a chair, his feet propped up on Hachi’s leg, while Lisa leaned against the leg of the table. Hiyori lay away from them, trying to stay as still as possible to avoid any unnecessary movement. Mashiro wasn’t bothered- but she never had been bothered by the heat, especially not now. Yoruichi laid on the front porch, for once not in her feline form, enjoying the cool northern breeze.
Shinji was watching him, Kisuke noted belatedly- his brow raised, a question posed within his gaze but not spoken aloud. He waved him off idly, a lazy smile curling his lips but coming nowhere near his eyes. His head dipped, the brim of his hat settling low over his eyes.
This was how it used to be. Kensei and Tessai would work together in the kitchen with Mashiro “helping”- more often than not, they’d all gather in the Twelfth. It had the most room back then. Shinji would sit with him and Yoruichi, sharing in any news he’d heard recently; Lisa would arrive later, having been with her Captain, even if she denied it. Hachi would bring sweets that he graciously picked up from the Western Rukongai, and Hiyori would bring drinks-
Along with Aizen.
The mere thought was enough to cause a weight to settle in Kisuke’s stomach like a stone tossed into a shallow pond suddenly. The waves rippled throughout, sending out spikes of anxiety and guilt that settled in the palms of his hands and the back of his mind. His heart skipped a beat.
Silently, he rose to his feet and slipped away into the depths of the Shoten. The weight was back, settling across his shoulders, draping itself across him as if it were a thick blanket, suffocating him. His breath began to come quicker, his heart beginning to race in his chest, causing his palms to sweat. He almost stumbled when grabbing the handle for his bedroom, all but shoving himself inside before carefully, quietly, closing the door.
Breathe.
This was familiar, the anxiety. It happened more often than he’d like to admit. But by the Soul King, he couldn’t breathe. It felt like hands had wrapped around his throat and were squeezing, cutting off his air supply. His eyes closed, and all he could see was chestnut brown hair, a smile that was nothing more than a facade, and dark brown eyes. A gasp escaped him as he opened his eyes-
And found himself alone.
Alone.
Outside, they all sat. His friends. But this wasn’t where they belonged. They belonged back home, back in Soul Society, but that could never happen. Not with how they would be killed on sight if ever seen. How he himself had a kill order placed upon his head for a crime he didn’t commit.
But it was his fault, wasn’t it? All of this was his fault. His fault for bringing up the question of what would happen if a Shinigami became a Hollow. His fault for beginning research- he wanted to know what Hollows were like. He didn’t want to experiment. But he’d planted the seed, and unintentionally, watered it, causing it to grow into the beautiful flower it had become.
It was his fault Aizen started his experiments, he was certain of it. How else could it be explained? Why else would Aizen target Shinji? Target any of them? It was his fault, and then he’d been too fucking late to save them.
He should have been the one. He should have been the one who became Aizen’s experiment. It was his fault. His fault they had all essentially been killed, his fault they all now suffered with the Hollows that took up residence within their minds and bodies, his fault that they were no longer seen as Shinigami. His fault.
His fault.
All his fault.
His breaths came in choked sobs as he sank to his knees, reaching up to clutch at his chest. Calm down, Kisuke, calm down. Your reiatsu will spike if you don’t- the voice was soft, a croon in his ear. Benihime, his benevolent princess.
Breathe in.
Breathe out.
He swallowed roughly as he forced himself to calm down. He couldn’t afford to break- no, he needed to stay strong. He had to stay strong, stay sharp, stay ahead of the game. If he slips up, they could all die. He can’t do that. He already fucked their lives up once. He can’t let that happen again. Not again.
They can never return to what they once were- and it was his fault for that.
“Kisuke?” Shinji called softly, knuckles rapping on the wood of the shoji. “You okay?”
“Fine,” Kisuke croaked, grimacing at himself for how awful he sounded. “Just got- choked. ‘M fine!”
A sigh settled in the air as Shinji opened the door, stepped in, and closed it. “You’ve always been a shitty liar,” he murmured as he came over, settling down beside Kisuke. “What’s gotten into you, huh?” Voice soft as he questioned the other. Carefully, he reached up, brushing the remnants of tears away from flushed cheeks. “You look so broken when you cry.”
“Just the… Damn heat wave,” the excuse was weak. “I’m fine.”
Shinji didn’t respond; instead, he reached over to tug the other blond close, arms wrapping around him. “Damn cry baby,” he muttered as Kisuke laughed in a broken sort of way- almost bordering on a sob as he settled into his arms.
“Just the heat.”
“Sure it is.”
Kisuke fell silent, listening to the slow beat of Shinji’s heart. Alive, somewhat. He still wasn’t completely sure how it worked, the hollowfication. The impact it had on the body. Rose’s heart barely beat, while Mashiro’s sounded like a hummingbird’s. Strange.
“I miss it, too,” Shinji admitted after a moment. “We all do.”
“I know.”
“It’s not yer fault.”
“Right.” Liar, his mind whispered. He pulled away carefully, wiping at his face. A shower would be nice, but dinner came first. “Let's go eat,” he rose to his feet, holding a hand out for Shinji, who took it and let Kisuke pull him up.
“Kisuke?” Shinji called as the former captain made his way to the door. Kisuke paused, head tilting, yet he didn’t face him. “Y’know we love you, right?”
“I know,” you shouldn’t love a monster. “C’mon, my stomach’s growling and I don’t wanna miss out on Kensei’s coconut shrimp.”
A laugh escaped Shinji as he brushed past him, walking ahead of Kisuke, who hesitated for a moment, his head tilting back to study the bedroom. It felt as if something had shifted in that moment.
As if someone had done something.
Thunder rumbled overhead, a summer storm rolling in suddenly.
Strange.
“Kisuke! Get yer ass in here!” Hiyori yelled, startling him from his thoughts. A laugh tittered free as he finally joined his group once more. Even so, something scratched at the back of his mind.
Someone had just arrived in the World of the Living from Soul Society.
“Let’s eat!”
Here we go again.

Rumors
Tumblr media
Day 22 Prompt: there’s been talk about us
Summary: Rumors chased after Ichigo and Rukia their entire lives. People liked to gossip about their appearances. About their statuses. It was always the trivial matters that rubbed others the wrong way.
And then came the rumors about the nature of their relationship. For Day 22 of @ichirukimonth 2021.
Rating: Gen/K

We fear that which we cannot see.
“Hey, have you heard?”
“That Kurosaki kid—”
“Yes, that Kuchiki girl—”
“No way! A delinquent joining our class?”
“Of course that untalented recruit is a noble. It’s the Kuchiki influence. I thought so, too!”
Rumors chased after Ichigo and Rukia their entire lives. People liked to gossip about their appearances. About their statuses. It was always the trivial matters that rubbed others the wrong way.
And then came the rumors about the nature of their relationship. A bit surprising, to be sure, but not altogether unexpected, given how petty gossip hounds could be. Just another bored rumor passed along the mill that would eventually be forgotten and replaced with something new.
They both denied it as firmly as they could. It never satiated others’ nosy appetites for long.
All those rumors fell away when she was whisked back to Soul Society. They were the last thing on his mind when he and the others fought to rescue her. He’d forgotten about them completely until she and the other Shinigami showed up during the next semester, unannounced, and the rumors started up again.
It didn’t help that she was living with him now, either.
“What’s the deal with you and Rukia-chan anyway?” Isshin asked while helping his son with the dishes. The girls were having fun getting to know each other upstairs, so he figured he’d step in.
Ichigo threw him a peeved side-glance. “What do you mean? She already told you she has no money or relatives here to help her.”
“So you volunteered to take her in without a second thought, huh?”
“You expect me to let her fend for herself?” The defensive edge in his voice made Isshin pause.
He smiled as he took a dish from the rack to dry. “No, of course not. You’ve always been the type to stick your neck out for someone in need. Why do you think your mom and I named you Ichigo?”
Ichigo said nothing, just continued washing dishes. If one good thing could be said about his punk of a son, it was the fact that he never flaunted his inner strength.
“You’ve never really had many friends growing up. For the longest time, the only friend you had was Tatsuki-chan and then Chad. Everyone else was too scared to try and talk to you. So I’m glad you’re putting yourself out there this year and making a bunch of new friends, Ichigo.”
His son’s face softened.
“That being said, you never answered my question, my son.” Isshin’s eyes sparkled with a single-minded pursuit. “Could it be you don’t trust me enough to tell me the truth? Or is it that you're too shy?”
That all-too-familiar scowl returned to Ichigo’s face. “What the hell’re you talking about, Dad?”
“There you go, dodging the question again! I’m talking about Rukia-chan! Is she, y’know, your girlfriend?”
“My...girlfriend?” A dish slipped from Ichigo's grasp and shattered into pieces.
“Aw crap!” he swore, stooping to the floor. “Sorry, Dad!”
Before he could reach for the largest piece, Isshin gently pushed his son's hands away. “Let me handle this, Ichigo. I don’t want you hurting yourself. Go get the trash can.”
“Dad, it’s no trouble. I can get it.”
Isshin paused. “To be honest with you, son, my joints ain’t as spry as they used to be. I probably can’t get up right now even if I wanted to.”
“Oh, what? You’re such an old man,” Ichigo said as he pushed himself up.
At that moment, Isshin slipped a small pill into his mouth. Urahara’s gigai tech might have been impressive when he was first gifted the thing, but damn was it getting more and more unresponsive as he got older.
After Ichigo cleared the shards away, Isshin let his son finish washing the dishes. It was the easiest way to trap him there, at any rate.
“Anyway,” he began again, “what is Rukia-chan to you?”
His son hesitated, brown eyes darting around as if he could pull some bullshit excuse from the murky dishwater.
He covered it up with yet another scowl. “We’re just friends. Sorry to disappoint you and Yuzu.”
“Aw, c’mon, Ichigo! Your sister and I are just curious!”
“You guys are way too keen about my nonexistent love life. Why don’t you two get lives of your own?”
“You kids might not understand this since you’re so young, but when you become a parent, your life revolves around your kids! That means your life is my life, too!” Isshin clenched his fist. “So c’mon, Ichigo! Tell me everything! Don’t be shy!”
“I’m not being shy. Quit bugging me.”
“Oh?” Isshin’s eyes gleamed. “Only a truly shy man would be so cold! Come now, my son! Confess your deepest, darkest secrets to your father!”
As soon as he tried to embrace his son, all turned black as his face rammed right into Ichigo’s elbow.
                                                           * * *
The girls upstairs heard a loud crash and Ichigo’s infuriated cursing.
Karin frowned at the floor. “There they go again. God, it’s so exhausting living with them. Sorry, you’re just going to have to deal with them for the time being.”
Rukia slapped on an innocent smile. “Oh, I don’t mind! I think a lively household is kind of fun!”
Another crash thundered through the house as the two men continued brawling away. Karin sighed. “Fun, huh?”
“I just hope they remember to clean up after themselves! I’d hate to clean the kitchen again when I already did it last weekend!” Yuzu said.
Rukia had heard their muffled fighting before when she hid in Ichigo’s closet. To actually bear witness to the Kurosaki family’s antics was another matter entirely. Compared to the piercing silence of the Kuchiki household, this was a much more comforting change of pace.
“Now don’t take this the wrong way, Rukia-chan.” Yuzu fidgeted on her bed . “But…um….”
Karin tilted her head back with a loud sigh. “She wants to know if you and our stupid brother are dating.”
“Karin!” Yuzu shouted, scandalized.
“It’s what you wanted to ask her since she arrived, right?”
“Dating?” Rukia repeated. “No, we’re just friends!”
“Just friends, huh?” Karin muttered.
“Yes, of course.”
“So you say.”
“Karin!”
“I’m just saying it’d be way more interesting if all this was some elaborate ruse for Ichigo to introduce his girlfriend to the family is all.” She flopped back onto her bed, letting her legs swing freely over the edge.
“That certainly would be more interesting, I suppose,” Rukia conceded. “Unfortunately, that’s not true. No offense to your brother, but he’s too honest to think of doing something like that.”
The three paused when Ichigo’s booming sneeze echoed up to them from downstairs.
Karin smirked. “Friend, girlfriend. It’s all the same to me, I guess.” She pointed a finger at Rukia. “You and I might get along swimmingly once you drop that nice-girl act and be yourself, though.”
Rukia blinked. And here she thought her human girl schtick would work here, too.
The smile that crossed her lips was softer, more natural this time. “You and your brother have the same instincts, I see.”
“I’d say I’m better at reading people than he is. He’s a big dope.” Karin waved dismissively.
Yuzu’s warm smile grew. “Whether you’re just friends with Ichi-nii or something more, I’m still glad to have you in our home, Rukia-chan! It’s nice to have more girls in the house for once!”
Rukia dipped her head. “I’m grateful that you’re letting me stay here without questioning my motives. I hope I won’t be a burden to any of you.”
“If you can keep my brother and my dad in line, you’d be more of a help than a hindrance,” Karin said. “Anyway, Yuzu tends to snore and fuss in her sleep, so I hope you can deal with that, too.”
Yuzu flushed and threw a pillow at her sister’s bed. “Karin! I don’t snore!”
Siblings showed the oddest resemblances to one another from time to time. Karin's teasing grin was so much like her brother's that it made Rukia smile in return. Ichigo then barged into the room and plunked himself on the edge of her bed to hang out with them. They all talked about their day and mocked each other in that special way only siblings could. It was warm and exasperatedly caring.
All those silly rumors that once passed around Karakura High about her and Ichigo dating would definitely escalate if anyone saw her living with him. It didn’t matter to her either way.
For once, she'd found a place where she didn’t have to worry about being judged. Rukia could dare to be happy. She dared to relax and laugh along with them. The Kurosaki family treated her like she belonged, and that was enough.
                                                               * * *
“Wait, they live together? Are you sure?”
“Of course! Kojima-san went to their house the other day to bring Kurosaki all the homework he missed, and he told me that Kuchiki-san was the one who answered the door! And she took it from him on his behalf! Like she was his girlfriend or something!”
“No way someone as pretty as her would be shacking up with a guy like that, right?”
“I don’t know. You remember how she climbed in through the third-story window and kicked him in the face and smacked him around? If anything, I feel sorry for Kurosaki.”
Now those rumors couldn’t be helped either. Rukia needed somewhere to stay, and like a little pest, she wormed her way into Ichigo's home and his everyday life. And with his month-long Vizard training going on, he wasn’t exactly around to put a stop to them.
The rumors really started to get out of hand once Ichigo, his friends, and all those weird kids who joined in the middle of the semester disappeared at the same time. No one knew where they went, or if they were even alive.
Some theorized that they had all dropped out to form a street gang. Others proposed the idea that Kurosaki and Kuchiki-san had eloped and invited all their friends to the wedding. All of which were extremely ridiculous, but who was to prove them wrong? Certainly not the subjects of the rumors themselves.
Oddly enough, both Asano and Kojima were the first to dismiss any rumors they heard. They seemed less enthusiastic about it, like their friend’s love life was no longer a fun puzzle to work out. They hung a lot more around Arisawa, who was equally morose and exhausted with it all.
Of course, this only fueled the wild rumors further. Perhaps they were bummed out that they weren’t included in whatever escapades Kurosaki and his other friends got involved with.
Then Kurosaki returned. Without any of those weird friends of his. Without that odd Kuchiki girl by his side.
Kurosaki Ichigo became a recluse, even among those he once called friends.
Perhaps they’d broken up. Maybe she had to move away.
The mystique of their relationship died down pretty quickly after that.
It was not until May of their final year of high school did rumors about Kuchiki Rukia returning circulate around the school. Someone claimed to have seen her hanging around Karakura again. With how eagerly Kurosaki cancelled the rest of his sports team contracts to leave school earlier, it seemed more and more plausible.
Inoue Orihime’s own confirmation that the Kuchiki girl was indeed back only fueled the flames. Apparently, Kuchiki Rukia and all the new kids had to move far away all of a sudden. No, they weren’t all a weird family. No, she would not return to Karakura High.
As for the rumor covering Kuchiki Rukia and Kurosaki Ichigo’s relationship status, Inoue, Arisawa, and Kojima were all tight-lipped on the matter. Despite their best efforts, Asano Keigo was not all that great at keeping secrets, and it only took a bit of pressure for him to crack.
“No, they’re not dating! Can you believe that?” he’d screech at anyone who would listen. “I swear, I’ve tried so hard to hook them up, but nothing I do works! Tell me, what’s a guy gotta do to help his dumbass friend score, huh?”
                                                           * * *
Rukia was in the middle of writing up a report when Ichigo decided to show up for an impromptu visit. Admittedly, it was nice catching up with him, but it did wreck her entire work schedule for the day.
Well, perhaps wreck wasn’t the right word for it. She didn’t mind his company. She just normally finished up faster than this.
The odd look her brother threw her when she requested that they be left alone put her off. It did not help that she had flushed when Renji raised a tattooed eyebrow at her before he left, nor the fact that the servants hushed their giggles when Ichigo looked over his shoulder at them.
“Hey, is something going on around here?” he asked after catching the latest servant stifling a smile as she passed. “The servants have been whispering to each other all day.”
That’s because you decided to barge in so blatantly like you live here, you fool, she wanted to say.
Rukia shrugged affectedly. “People like to talk.”
About us, to be precise.
Ichigo scoffed. “People are always talking about me like I’m some kind of freak because of my hair. I’ve never cared all that much about gossip. It’s all bullshit anyway.”
She set her brush down on the inkstone. “I see. You too, huh?”
“Too?” he repeated, finally looking over at her.
“You heard Nii-sama explain why I was adopted into the Kuchiki clan, correct?” She took his silence as a yes. “The Kuchiki name is a prestigious one, but that notoriety does not come without its costs. The moment I was adopted, I was immediately placed in Squad Thirteen despite never having graduated from the Shinigami Academy. I was deemed a product of nepotism, and the other squad members hated me for it.”
Rukia shut her eyes. The memory of Kaien’s warmth flickered in the back of her mind. That would be a story for another day.
“It may seem ridiculous to you, how such a thing could hurt me.” Her smile did not reach her eyes.
He shook his head. “It’s not ridiculous, Rukia. What’s ridiculous is all the stuff people assumed about you. They don’t even know you.”
“No,” she said. “But even worthless rumors can start to take their toll once enough of them build up.”
“Oh yeah? Well, I’m gonna change that.”
Her smile fell. “How so?”
“We’re friends,” Ichigo said without any hesitation whatsoever. “So anyone who talks shit about you gets the business end of my sword.”
“A little extreme, don’t you think?”
Ichigo snorted but said nothing else.
To alleviate the tension brewing around him, she teased, “And what rumors about yourself have you heard lately? I’ve heard quite a lot. I’ve even been asked to confirm a few, on occasion.”
“Yeah? Like what?”
Rukia turned the various rumors over in her mind, struggling to find the best way to spin it. A joke perhaps? Could he laugh off something like this?
No, Ichigo would probably get embarrassed and storm off to find the cretin who started these unsavory rumors in the first place. She would assume such talk was unbefitting of those who served in the Thirteen Court Guard Squads, but apparently she was mistaken.
“Nothing much. Petty gossip.” She continued writing her report as if such matters didn’t concern her at all. “About you and I, mostly. What we are to each other.”
Ichigo scowled. “Not this again.”
“Unfortunately, yes.”
“It’s like people don’t have anything else to do with their lives. Stop trying to live vicariously through us already.”
Rukia paused. “Live vicariously?”
“Yeah, it’s like when people try to experience stuff through—”
“No, I know what it means. But what did you mean by that?”
The moment he met her eyes, she understood. There was a frantic, helpless gleam to them, but even so, he did not dare look away.
It was not a challenge, but more a question. It was a plea. His confession.
“Oh. I see.”
“Look, I wasn’t trying to…. I mean, it’s not…. This wasn’t the way that I wanted to….”
Ichigo put his head in his hands and took a deep breath. When he finally sat up straight again, he looked her right in the eye. “Rukia, do you want to go out with me?”
“Oh?” She leaned her head in a hand, the corner of her mouth tugging up. “Are you sure you want to prove those rumormongers right?”
He scowled. “This isn't about them! I told you, I don’t give a shit about what other people think. It wasn’t the rumors that made me like you.”
“What a bold thing to admit.” She covered her mouth in mock surprise.
“Ugh, shut up! It’s hard enough to say as it is.”
Rukia began to laugh. “You’re so strange, Ichigo. I like that about you, though.”
He tried and failed to hide how red his face had become. “Don’t make fun of me.”
“I’m not.” Her smile became more genuine then as she reached her hand out to his. “I am happy you asked. Although, I hope you know that it is uncouth of you to drop in on a woman unannounced. According to what I read about courting in the World of the Living, it is also customary to have a chaperone along with us on our dates.”
“Yeah, that’s been outdated for centuries now. What the hell kind of books are you even reading?” he scoffed.
“How rude! And here I was, excited to ask Nii-sama to accompany us for our first date!”
“What? Don’t bring Byakuya into this!”
Their silly bickering echoed all throughout the courtyard. Even still, they did not let go of the other's hand.
                                                             * * *
"Hey, have you heard?"
"That Substitute Shinigami and Lieutenant Kuchiki are dating?"
"Why is this news? Weren't they already a couple?"
"Ah, I see! So I was right all along."
Years and years of speculation, only to have the confession be far more mundane than they hoped.
The funny thing about rumors was, once they were confirmed, they lost their appeal extremely quickly.
Another rumor soon came to take its place.
"Kurosaki Ichigo is a noble? No way!"
"Sure, he looks a lot like Lieutenant Shiba, but isn't he just a human?"
"You sure he didn't just marry into the Kuchiki family?"
And so it goes. And so the rumors circled back once again.
If you can say that your heart doesn't change
                                               Then that is strength.
                                                                -
No, nothing can change my world.
The only time a petty rumor is actually one hundred percent true lol. But I mean, it's not hard to disprove with the way they're always looking at each other.
I suppose this fic can kind of fit in the same AU as Home and Clearing Away the Rain. Maybe consider it a prequel of sorts, if you like!
Thanks for reading! Until next time!

Every moment with you-Ukitake Jushiro
Tumblr media
"If I had to be reborn every lifetime it would always be you."
(Your Name) sighs while sitting on the floor packing all her belongings and putting them in boxes to move out the barracks. This was the hardest thing to do, everything they shared and everything Ukitake had were being placed else where. It didn't feel right to her but and she just lost her husband and home.
She felt lifeless as Kyoraku sat across from her and frowned. Of course he was still heart broken by his best friend, his brother death. They were inseparable.
"(Your Name) I know it's hard but I promise you things will get better."
"Better said than done." She answers back but doesn't look him in the eye and folds his captains cloth placing it in a nice decorative box where she put all his special belongings.
"You will be okay out there?" He asks worriedly as she nods her head in response and rubs her red eyes from all the crying.
"I'll check up on you every often." Kyoraku sits himself up and takes one last look of Ukitake and (Your Name) house before looking down and bidding a farewell.
"(Your Name) come here." Ukitake kindly smiles at his wife as she set the hot tea down. Walking towards him he held a brush as she sat in front of him and hummed in delight.
"You know my favorite part of the day is at night and we get to spend quality time together." He says as she hums in response.
"My favorite part is waking up to you." She answers back as he chuckles and ties her hair back in a low bun as she turns towards him.
"I guess your answer is better than mine." He slightly pouts and takes a sip of the tea that was prepared.
(Your Name) curled in bed alone as she cried again they spend hundreds and years together as friends and the love of each other life's. So she asked herself how do you fully heal if you've spend most your life depending on each other.
Ukitake was no longer here, who could she depend on that was like him? His soothing voice and calming nature made her feel secure.
Looking out the window it was a starry night as she moved out to the country side to heal more. Setting up his shrine and everything else it was weird. Never had she been alone like this.
(Your Name) wondered was his soul reborn yet? Was he in Rukongai or the Human World? Either way it would be impossible to find him. There's was millions of soul getting reborn everyday.
"You're sick! I'm not letting you leave this room." (Your Name) yells at Ukitake as he coughs and holds onto his desk for support as she ran to his side and held him up.
"Yes but work comes first." He says softly and sits back down to do unfinished business.
"Honey. You've down enough, maybe it's time you retired? It's only a matter of time and you are only getting older!" She exclaims as he chuckles and swats her away kindly.
"I still look young though."
She rolled her eyes and pouted, Ukitake health was slowly getting worse but it never stopped him from working hard and supporting his squad.
There were times she worried he didn't have long to live because of how severely sick he would get at times but those thoughts she bore were heavy on her heart.
"I'm just scared...what if something bad happens to you?"
Ukitake looks up to her and grabs her hand gently with his and kisses it.
"I'm here right now that's all that matters."
"But what if there comes a time you aren't no more?" She questions as he knits his brows to find words to say.
Ukitake didn't know what to say because he also knew.
"You know I'll always have you and I'll be somewhere better." Although those weren't the words he wanted to say the truth had to be told as she looks down and nods.
"I love you." She whispers and he smiles.
"I love you too."
Waking up the sun peaked up as she groaned and looked towards her side.
"I guess its still a habit. I can imagine you here but you aren't here."
Getting ready for the day she had a unexpected visitor. Well it was expected but he didn't tell her.
"Good morning!" Kyoraku happily says walking into her new place as she smiles back and lets him in.
They both said their prayers to the shine before setting up the table to eat breakfast.
"How are you holding up?"
She wanted to lie but didn't know how to.
"It's okay, I can't say I haven't stop crying and doing old habits but I think being out here is better and getting the fresh air feels nice."
The older man hums in response and stares out to look at the flowers scattered everywhere. "He would have loved it out here."
"I know... that's why I decided to come out here. It's more like 'you've worked hard let's go rest somewhere peaceful now' I know it's time for me to rest also."
Kyoraku smiles and then looks at Ukitake picture.
"He's smiling down at us (Your Name) theres no need to torture yourself no more."
She rolls her eyes playfully and looks at the picture too before grinning. "I know but it's hard."
"I'm not leaving him!" (Your Name) screamed at Kyoraku as Ukitake prayed to Mimihagi as to becoming the right hand of the soul king.
"I promised him you would not die in this war!"
(Your Name) cried as she watched Ukitake sacrifice himself and suffer in pain.
"You knew and didn't tell me, you guys both knew! How could you let me leave him like this." As she cried and  fell on the floor.
Kyoraku grabbed her forcefully as she struggled to get loose and she screamed in pain.
"I'm not letting him leave by himself."
"Don't be selfish (Your Name) you aren't thinking! He's doing this for the sake of Seireitei! He's doing this for everyone! For you!" Kyoraku yells at her as she looks away and cries into his chest.
Glancing back at Ukitake she wasn't sure if he was still physically here.
Wiping her tears she cooled her head and nodded.
Kyoraku left as she signed and laid in bed. She would go back to work when she was fully healed but as of right now she didn't wanna do anything.
Life at this point had no meaning to her if he was gone.
"I promise you I'll get better."
50 years later
It took her a few years after Ukitake death to piece herself back together, during the time she went back to being a shinigami and full filling her duties to protect souls and those she loved.
There had been a disturbance in the world of living so her and few lieutenants were sent down to the world of living to check it out.
"I feel a high reitsu coming from the west." Hisagi says as him and Kira went to check it out.
"I'll check east and Renji will go south." Rangiku tells (Your Name) as she nods and follows north.
It had been many years since she was last down here. It had been during Aizen's battle.
"The human world has changed quite a bit."
After reporting a few suspicious incident to Kyoraku she watched the sunset alone waiting for the others.
A man in his 30s walked by her reading a book, he was smiling peacefully with his hair tied in a low pony and a nice button up.
The white hair tamed.
She gasped slightly as he looked up to her and his eyes widen a bit.
"You can see me?" She asks questioning him.
"I can see you, Ive seen many things since I was a child." Ukitake laughs not fazed a bit from her outfit and sword.
She felt happy tears fall from her eyes as he jumped a bit afraid he had hurt her feelings because she was dead and he wasn't.
"I'm sorry, I'm just so happy. You're alive."
He tilts his head in confusion as she wipes them away.
"My name is (Your Name)." She introduced herself as he kindly bowed
Although she wanted to bring him back he had a different life here and showing them together would only confuse him.
"Your name sounds familiar to me." Ukitake says as she sadly smiled and lied to him. "Maybe it's common around here?"
"No it's pretty unique. I've heard it somewhere." He says but can't seem to connect the clues.
Oh how was the world was cruel to them both at this moment. She would have to remember all the memories of them as his was mixed with confusion and facts.
"Do you believe in rebirth?" She then asks him as he nods his head. She took a deep breath and said the following words Ukitake told her before his death and sacrifice.
"If I had to be reborn every lifetime it would always be you."
Ukitake touches his head as it started to feel a bit dizzy and she held him and he gasps. He knew for sure something about her was familiar but he was getting frustrated not being able to figure it out.
Tears fell from her face as Ukitake eyes were watering. "Why am I crying? My body is doing it on its own."
Ukitake was beyond confused but she wouldn't let him suffer no longer. She knew he was safe and happily healthy living down here and that's all she needed to know.
"I'll wait a few more years for you and then we'll meet up there."
Ukitake looks at her and reached his hand out. He didn't want her to leave this comforting feeling and Ukitake knew he knew her somehow but he can't remember.
Kissing his forehead she took one last glance and disappeared.
"I'll see you then my love. I'll watch over you till it's your time and then we can finally be together again."
Ukitake looks up to the sky as the uncontrollable tears fell from his face and he tried his best to compose himself. He just couldn't as he cried, he felt something from her and he would have to wait.
As much as he wanted the pain to leave, his own heart neglected his mind.
"I'll see you again (Your Name)."
(Authors note: Oo so sad, Ukitake is literally so precious, he didn't deserve death.)

titled “shin shin”.txt
came across a post... a long, long while ago about a god of death type reader and got super interested, since of all the cyikemen games, ikesen is the one most surrounded by death on a larger scale (cause, war and stuff), so i wrote this at... 2020? almost one year before, at 21th of july. i had more of it written, but i really didn’t like it cause it felt too “quirky wattpad reader” and plus me just copying from the original prlogue without adding anything, so... yeah. enjoy!
(also, very important that anyone who wants to do whatever with this idea, feel free, no need to ask me)
You didn’t like your existence
To call it “your life” would be simply wrong; you don’t breathe, you don’t eat, you don’t sleep. All you are is a walking, talking existence that has a job to do until you fade away. You didn’t even like your job.
To lead a soul from their death to the Land of the Dead was a grim job. You learnt their regrets, their anger, their sadness, all which you knew was personal. But you had to be there. You had to ensure that their soul is at peace, so when the time comes to cross to the afterlife, they don’t get reincarnated as a ghost, stuck forever with their past emotions.
Shinigami, was your kinds’ name. God of Death.
You were a part of the blanket term ‘yokai’, or as some would call in other names such as ‘ayakashi’. Those who fall under the category were spirits, demons, animal-like creatures, or, similar to you, gods. For as long as you’ve known, supernatural creatures didn’t mesh with humans well most of the time.
Fear of unknown from both parties led to anger, rashness, and cut communication and involvement altogether for perhaps half your life.
You’ve existed for long; you stopped remembering the exact number after 1.000 years. All you did now was remember the year you came to the world, and do the math. But that doesn’t matter much, does it? The only thing you concerned yourself with is when you’ll fade away.
However, for your own sake, you do take a break. Such a job is heavy for the heart, and a walk doesn’t help as much, but it’s a nice thing nonetheless.
Kyoto. You were just done leading a soul that got caught in a traffic accident. You never traveled outside of the country, but would it really matter if you did? You still appreciated everything as it were; there has to be some light in a life to look forward to.
This particular city was rich in human history, you knew that. Maybe it’d be a fun thing to do, even if you didn’t have much an interest in it.
“All your famous warlord knowledge, packed in a mag! Come get one now!” A boy’s shouts filled the nearby streets, attracting attention from the occasional passerby’s. Including you. A Quick Guide To Your Warlords, the magazine read on the cover. Sounds interesting, and you were bored, so you took one and stuffed it in your pocket.
With a blank mind, you were brought forth to a temple by your wandering legs. Honno-ji. A small, quiet, quaint place. The setting sky burned up above as the small cries of the crickets sounded all around.
You’ve heard some stories of the small memorial in front of you. One of the unifiers of Japan died here—betrayed, as you remembered. But you can’t draw an exact name.
While drowning in your thoughts, the approaching presence coming to you was acknowledged but not paid mind to further. Until you shift your eyes to the side as said figure was in your peripheral vision—a man dressed in a lab coat. The two of you said no words, only continuing to gaze at the stone in front of you.
You only started to react when the sky above you turned darker and darker—not by the setting sun, but by the awfully black and almost purple clouds gathering up above you. That’s unusual, you’ve never seen anything like that in your life.
The once bright and bold sky now rained down drops of water on your face. You didn’t even notice you shifted to your human form—and a look at your hands covered in specks of droplets confirmed that.
“What poor timing.” The man next to you said, causing your eyes to glance at him. He looked solemnly to the monument, then to you, “Are you alright? Do you have an umbrella?”
“No, unfortunately. I didn’t expect it to rain. . .” your eyes linger to above his head, where a set of numbers and a small text was visible to you only. The death profile, as the others call. A set of information that shinigamis can see in most creatures, usually entailing their names, time of death, and cause of it.
It’s a cursing bit of information; always reminding you of what you are.
Out of nowhere, a thunder ripped through the clouds and hit directly on the small monument—a loud crackle following along. Your arm flew up to protect the man next to you by reflex, as your body stood there in momentary shock. You’ve seen death by  lightning, but that was unlikely to happen now.
You whipped your head towards the human next to you, who seems the slightest bit appalled, but stood his ground. A strange thing catches your attention. . .
His death date. It’s flickering—changing.
From a century where he was supposed to die. . .to the 15-16th century.
A date of death changing has been a rare thing that happens, however unlikely, but—it’s never jumped that far before! To the past, too?
Utter shock froze you in place as the numbers flicker back and forth, leading your attention away from everything else—him asking you if you were okay, and most importantly—
—the black ball that formed where the stone was.
“Watch ou—“ before you can warn the man, the image of him next to you twisted and distorted, slowly getting sucked in whatever it was.
And so were you.
Wait! He isn’t supposed to die yet—!
The world faded to black.
       Ugh. . .my head. . .
Your vision fades in and out, clear then blurry, until you’re finally wide awake. The scenery around you changed drastically, what was first a small place in the city of Kyoto is now. . .a dark forest. You’ve seen this kind of environment before in your memories—you just don’t know how you got here.
The lab coat guy—!
You immediately stood up from the dirt beneath you, looking around and trying to sense his soul around you. Nothing. Pursing your lips in slight unease, you started making your way through the criminally underlighted woods.
You’ve roamed around in the forest before. Most of your time on this world, you didn’t settle in a house or anything, you preferred to just wander around like a lost ghost. You didn’t have a need for one—you don’t need shelter, not food, not clothes, nor drinks. You were a lost ghost.
The branches and rocks and whatever else you tripped on didn’t bother you. All you were focusing on is now just. . .walking. Without even a set destination. The only guidance you had was the occasional moonlight that peeked through the trees up above.
As minutes pass by, you start feeling a faint presence of human souls.
It’s distant, and not much from how weak it is, but I should go and see.
All other senses were rendered useless for now as you focused on the source of the souls, and slowly marched your way to it. It grew closer and closer, until you saw a faint light coming in the middle of the forest.
Two people, you now concluded. Your footsteps remained silent and your presence unknown as you creep near the light.
A fire was set in a small clearing, and you can now see the two people. A man with dark hair, dressed in monk’s clothes and a scar marking his face, with another feminime-looking boy, purple-haired in armor.
“Are you ready for this, Ranmaru?” The monk spoke in a low voice. “You’re about to kill the demon. Bring him down for good.”
Kill, huh. An assassination was about to commence.
“. . .Yes, Master Kennyo.” The boy—Ranmaru—spoke, wavering in unease but still tried to be certain.
‘Master Kennyo’ smiled; a bitter, unresting one, “Good. They’ve light the fire at Honno-ji, arrive there and kill him. I will follow shortly once the fire has spread,”
“. . .Understood.”
Clutching his sword until it shook in his hand, Ranmaru turned around and walked off from the clearing.
You overheard the conversation and calmly watched his figure fade away. It isn’t your place to intervene—not if this is fate, but even so—you’ll follow him. At least you can rest the soul of the victim.
In silent steps trailing him, you heard a last piece from Kennyo. “Finally, we’ll have our revenge. . .”
You took your time in following Ranmaru’s path. If whoever’s assassinated dies, it’s soul will still remain until they can go to the afterlife. Time stops for them as long as it takes to get their soul guided away from the living land. Is it immoral in a way? Perhaps.
Unless. . .you can stop them from getting killed. But often when you try to intervene, the death happens either way.
So what’s the point?
Nihilistic thoughts aside, you sensed more human souls coming your way; five, from what you can tell. But you paid no mind to that. Until it got nearer, and nearer, and nearer, and—
“Oof.” In your blank stated mind, you bumped into someone, causing them to huff in surprise. You yourself paused and looked—a brown haired man wearing red armor, “Hey, watch where you’re going—!”
His complaints died on his tongue as soon as he finally saw who he bumped into. His expression, from a slightly irritated frown, turned more into one of confusion, “Huh? Hey, what’s someone like you doing here in the woods? Nighttime, also? Such weird clothing, too. . .”
His spoken words made you raise an eyebrow, “Ignoring all that, I’m sorry for bumping into you. I just had some business is all.”
“In the dead of night? What are you, an. . .enchantress? Those stories of w-witches in the forest?” The man’s voice wavered more with each passing word. The quirk in your eyebrow deepens.
“I assure you, I’m not—“
“Yuki~! We leave you for a few seconds and you’ve already found yourself a partner?” A velvet and rich voice arose from behind the dark bushes and trees, all of them being pushed aside to reveal an auburn haired man, this one more built in his body.
The one you’ve been talking to—Yuki—blushed and shook his head vehemently, “Ugh, no! I’m not like you; we just bumped into each other is all. And I think it’s some kind of witch, too—”
The redhead man tutted at Yuki in a disapproving manner, “Now, now, Yuki. Have I not taught you how to talk properly in front of such a beauty all this time?” His attention turns to you, and in a second, his eyes lit in passion, “Forgive me for his prudeness, my goddess, dear Yuki needs a lot more lessons than I thought. However. . .if you want to be with a real man, I’m always up for service.”
“Will you stop flirting with everything you meet. It’s disgusting.”
Three more people emerge from the shadows, the small bits of moonlight pouring to their features. The one who spoke was a blond one, cladded in blue armor and with eyes that said he wanted to have nothing to do with any of this.
“But Kenshin, you can’t just turn away at such a beauty laid in front of your eyes.” The flirt replied to the cold comment with a smirk.
“Stop. Or I’ll kill you.”
The bickering of the two were left unnoticed as another man with dark blue hair stepped up, far closer than what you were expecting. His hand reaches and caresses lightly on your clothes, “I have never seen such a design or material like this before. How fascinating. Would you like to switch with one of my kimonos?”
“Yoshimoto, I’ve already claimed them! Don’t steal them right under my nose.” Flirt Man threw a light complaint, turning away from Kenshin for a moment.
“Art is to be appreciated by everyone, Shingen.” Yoshimoto simply responds, now tugging lightly at the sleeves of your shirt.
Okay, you’ll admit it. You’re slightly overwhelmed.
So far, you haven’t said anything, mainly because you don’t want to. It feels like anything you say won’t make the situation better anyway. But still. . .even in your long life, this is quite bizzare.
You observed each of them one by one. Then your eyes landed to the last one, the same brown haired man you saw earlier. Now, in. . .some sort of ninja attire. While you tilted your head in slight curiosity, you’re at least satisfied to see he was safe.
And his death date has changed, too. . .
Speaking of death, you’re finally reminded of following. . .who was it, Ranmaru? to an assassination.
Gently freeing yourself from Yoshimoto’s admiring touches to your clothes, you bowed slightly in front of them, “I appreciate meeting all of you, but I have to go.”
You don’t see Sasuke opening his mouth to say something, and neither do the others, as you walked off to the darkness.
You thought by losing your way from your unofficial guide, you wouldn’t find the destination. But luckily, even going in the same direction as he did led you to it. Honno-ji. This time, it’s in the midst of drowning in fire. You made your way through the front door and entered where the fire wouldn’t reach you—but it wouldn’t make a difference anyway.
And in the middle of the room not yet entirely covered in flames, was who you assume the victim, sleeping. The cause of death, “died in an assassination while the building was set on fire”, said as much. Dressed in black armor, you could tell he was important, somehow. Not everyone can casually wear one, despite the past few people you’ve met been donning it.
The text displayed above the man’s head displayed the same old. Nobunaga Oda.
On the other side, you see a silhouette approaching steadily, sword in hand. Ranmaru, you guessed. You double checked yourself to make sure you weren’t visible to the human’s eye, and you were just fine with watching another death as you have—
Until, for the second time today, the death date for Nobunaga Oda flickered.
You froze as what was 21st of July, 1582, blinked into a later date. Much later.
What. . .?! That was the second time today—what am I supposed to—
Your chest felt heavy, and your hands trembled in uncertainty of what you should do. Do you save him? Watch him die? Would he even die at this moment? Or would it be later? You’ve never been in this position—the answer was always clear. And now you’re terrified.
Your body swayed back and forth violently, as two sides fought in your head of what to do. But time was running out—he’d be assassinated if you didn’t take this chance. And he’d die. That’s the same as you killing him, you thought, and you’ve sworn to never do such a thing.
From your disarrayed thoughts, your legs moved on their own and walked to him. You’re saving him, then.
