Is it bold of me to say I love you? Because I do and every single one of these things makes my brain explode with dopamine.

When it comes to Timbern, it’s great to see Bernard be the rock Tim wants to come back to. I feel like that wasn’t something we saw much with his relationships because of the pressure he put on himself to put space between them. 

The Thing is Tim is unhigned in the best of ways where he thinks he isn’t and has many murderer friends. Being with Bernard would be no different, especially if it is his best friend from high school who tried to hit on his step mom. I am really not much of a writer but God do I have ideas. When I have braincells, I may write something and if anything, take the lazy way and do art. I already wanted to make his little silly outfit.

Bernard in canon is already so unhinged for the fact that he likes to go unnoticed on purpose and gets into fights because he can and to protect Tim. I’ve already mentioned that he’s smart, but he is Smart. Double major biology and physics???? Come on!

Anyways

I feel like Tim would be on the fence of trying to track him down if only because he is so shaken to his core about being asked if he was happy.

I can see the reaction of everyone else.

“Red,” Dick breaches the topic cautiously, stepping forward and away from Cass’ grasp in favor of approaching the still bird. Tim didn’t move from his spot once the blonde left, that question ringing in his head. He sputtered to life the moment he heard shuffling towards him. He didn’t even get the chance to see how Dick had raised his arm in worry, ready to gently place his hand on Tim’s shoulder. Red Robin had quickly put the mask back on and stepped over Joker’s body, grabbing his grappling hook to get out of there before Jason came and before he got the barrage of questions. “We’ve got to find him. He knows our identities and that’s dangerous. You guys have got this.”

He did in fact, not go to look for Bernard. Instead he had a freakout, almost panic attack on the roof because what the fuck.

Tim actually avoids anything to do with the aquista family for two reasons

He’s sure someone is picking up his slack. Maybe Cass, possibly Jason, most definitely Batman

It does not mean that Tim doesn’t do extensive research. I know, contradictory statements but general preliminary background information doesn’t count. That’s the normal amount. Tim wasn’t going to obsess about this

It was far too much for Tim’s comfort and he couldn’t shake how sad the blonde man was every single time they talked. It grabbed at Tim with this longing, something that made him want to cry, to grab the man and shake him and let him heal him. 

But Tim wasn’t going to cross that line. Every Single Time he let the blonde man unmask him, he didn’t know why, look him in the eye and ask him if he was happy.

Each time got easier to answer with a lie, one the blonde would go from sadly smiling at, to amused, to something furious depending on his mood. 

Just because Tim didn’t hunt him down, find out who he was, didn’t entertain him, did Not mean he didn’t flirt

God was he so obvious

Dick knew within a mile as he was tracking the blonde who was far too good at escaping him and leading him on little wild goose chases like it was some game

one time he actually followed him around only for bernard to put up behind him and Dick figure out it was someone else all along

All that to say Tim flirted a lot and Bernard went along with it. It was a fun game for them both. It gave them a sense of normalcy and they could pretend for just a moment.

NOW MORI god he ruins the moment Every Single Time. Every encounter with him is like a bucket of ice water being poured on Tim and he just shuts down and goes all grim and batmany before leaving. Bernard hates that reaction so very much. He wants tim to smile, to fly. He wasn’t going to leave Mori aside either though and they needed to step away from their little banters otherwise Bernard would take it to far. 

No one could really love gotham like Batman. I imagine Bernard does things more out of a duty than because he loves gotham to his core. Mostly has ‘automated systems’ so he doesn’t have to step in himself. Bernard doesn’t have the energy to do that at all, but he cares enough to try and set something up. More often than not he doesn’t have to do much but he commands a lot of people soooo

A lot of the time, people will sacrifice what they have and Tim has such Control issues that he can’t take that. I feel like the issue with him is that once his parents are dead and Dana unconsolible, his sense of identity in keeping himself intact just destroys itslef. Even more so when Kon and Bart die, steph, bruce, whats the point? At this point, no one should risk themselves when it should be him. 

BIG BUT he’s getting better about that! 

It is a hop skip and a jump to go from getting better about that to someone murdering for him but Bernard hasn’t done that yet as far as tim is concerned.

What gets him to be reeled in is Joker being killed and what bernard has to say.

Brush off the fact that bernard will hurt for him. Bear probably doesn’t kill very very often. Joker is a given and he may or may not have killed a few before then because like you said, he really doesn’t like it. 

Bernard, above all else, has a compassionate reason for it. Is it still murder? Yes. Tims killed hundreds of assasins though so it really depends. Does not mean Tim won’t pull a moral card about it. 

Not to disagree with you genuis, ps I love your brain, but here is how I imagine the whole reveal would go

because up to this point, Tim is just in denial. 

I imagine it takes two weeks of Tim working himself to the bone to forget until someone actually confronts him

It’s either cass or jason

jason and tim aren’t close and he has more of a chance to get close to tim under false pretenses of other conversations than of this one. Jason may be an ass but he does care about everyone and isTrying to be someone. Jason only cares because he needs information, he feels bad, and he also feels weirded out for Tim. Who caresses someones face in a romantic gesture after murdering a mass murderer?

Any time Dick comes close, Tim avoids him. Tim is not ready to face his feelings. 

The more likely route is cass because then he can just hug it out with Cass and be vulnerable in her arms without talking. He probably has the first well rested night he has had in those two weeks. 

ANYWAYS reveal

they totally TOTALLY start hooking up before Tim lets himself realize he knows that voice, he knows the connectionto the Aquista’s, he knows that feeling of the arm around him even if it is a little heavier now a days

I feel like Jason is the one that drops the bomb on him

If only to get him to stop moping because Tim is starting to be more skittish than he usually is

It only happens by a file being tossed at him and Jason saying “you know him.”

Dick wanted to break the news more gently and even if he tries, at this point he is annoyed and has attempted to corner tim several times and all he got was a hug and a muffled “I’m fine... Just... I can’t right now.”

The next time they meet, Tim is still deathly quiet and Bernard tries the banter before he just jumps into the question, which tim avoids any touch

First and foremost, this time it was Tim’s turn. He was the one reaching for Bernard to take off the mask even if the blonde was flinching back. Only for time to cup his jaw and speak out so softly it was almost swallowed in the gust of wind. “I know.” Bernard could’ve sworn that Tim sounded so hurt. The little crack in the voice like he was forcing himself to talk. Tim wasn’t shaking, he wasn’t even holding him like he’d run away. Bernard was pretty sure if he did, Tim woulsn’t chase after him and the ached that developed in Bernard’s chest hurt him to action. 

The action of inaction. The situation felt familiar to them both. It would be something to laugh about if Bernard didn’t feel naked. He felt defensive, like he’d have to fight for his life, but he’d rather shoot himself to try to fight against Tim. His eyes met tim’s mask and the wind had him shutting them tightly. 

Or so Bernard would say. He just didn’t want Tim to be seeing him for himself. He wanted to be engimatic, just some figure passing throught the night that Red Robin could forget. The man wanted to push Tim away, to take that chance that this vigilante wouldn’t chase after him. 

He’d soon realize he missed that chance because Tim was digging his fingers into Bernard’s face. The way Tim let out a deep shakey breath as his whole body shudder had Bernard squirming more. The touch was too tender, too caring, and reverant. Bernard didn’t want that. He wanted the animosity, he wanted to be the one looking down the hill and reaching a hand out towards the man in front of him. 

“Are you happy?” Bernard tenderly opened his eyes to look at Tim. He was melting under this intensity and for a moment, he figured this is how Tim felt when he saw Bernard that windy night by Gotham Harbor. The night he heard flesh tear and a man gasping for his life. The night he shoudl’ve been  apprehnded and hunted for sport by the Bat, but for some reason scraped by just like every other time he had. This time, he got what he wanted though. He was pulled in close into Tim’s arms, the back of his head being held to his chest as he felt little feathery kisses over his hair line as Tim just shook more. Tim wouldn’t be able to find himself to speak, not tonight, not tomorrow, not for the coming weeks. He accepted the fact that the man in front of him was a murderer the night he was laid bare in front of him, in front of the corpse that destroyed so many lives. 

How Bernard got to this position, he didn’t know if he wanted to know, but Tim was so ever curious. 

Anyways, I don’t think tim would yell at him about Darla. For a man who knows not much about communication, I imagine he woudl tenetively bring it up and ask how he would think Darla would feel that henry offered this to him adn bernard would get growly about it, accuse tim, aplogize, and tim would shake his head and smile and say he understands. He could never bring himself to funerals. Though that’s all in self deprication trying to mask as undertsanding which I imagine starts a sort of ‘no be mad at me for yelling at you’ ‘be mad at Me for missing Darla’s funeral.’

Okay, but like your no boss!Bernard au has got me in a chokehold and if I had braincells right now, I'd totally be tattling shit off. I just needed you to know that I See you and I Appreciate everything you bring to the table because like fuck is it so good and I can't wait for more

2. Is there any scenario/au you would like to see them in (more often)?

3. How do they make up after a fight?

I think they would, but not a lot of them. I'm thinking either one or two. And I have no idea how they would tell eachother, so i'm going to skip that part x)

A scenario I'd like to see more often... I think them making mistakes. being imperfect. hurting eachother and working through it. being young, being free, being the teenagers they weren't allowed to be because of Neku's second death. Because Shiki spent three years waiting, and Neku spent three years in purgatory, and now that they're back in the RG they should get silly with it. I think part of what makes me like them a lot in an highschool setting (after the og, before A New Day, or in an AU) is that they're usually very imperfect and clumsy there, but they still love eachother anyway, so much. Also I love the idea of both suddenly getting a group of friends when they were pretty lonely before XD

I'd say it depends of the fight. If it's a small one, not really high stakes, they just got annoyed or frustrated but none of them is really hurt, they'd do something silly like a joke to the other one and move on, or just help them out with something. They wouldn't need to talk about it. If the fight was a serious one though (I think they'd be rare but still happen sometimes), they would first need time to chill. Shiki, especially. Neku is pretty chill after neo, but I think Shiki can still get mad pretty easily because she's very stubborn and adamant on some things. Time might have eased her rough edges, but they're still lying beneath the smooth surface. So firstly they'd take a break x) And then they'd be able to talk about it. Their talks may vary in lenght, some might be very quick and some might take multiple hours if the issue was a big one, but they don't leave anything unsaid, whether it's positive (remaining silent on his feelings for Shiki before A New Day was... maybe not a Good Choice for Neku, and he knows it. Shiki can only know how much good other people think of her if they tell her outright) or negative. Neku might need to push Shiki sometimes to voice the negative parts... because she's so happy he's back that she refuses to admit that some things might be wrong. Neku on the other hand is more likely to remain silent on very small things that bother him than to do so on important stuff. He'll compromise on which restaurant Shiki wants to go all the time, accepting her choice way more often than imposing his, but he won't lie on the important stuff, because if it remains unsaid it'll never be solved. The only issue is that he might be too brutally honest on those sometimes ^^" But in any case, before moving on, they'll hug and make sure each of them feels validated and loved, both to ease Shiki's anxiety, and to reassure Neku on his trauma of isolation.
