What makes Chilchuck my favorite character is how Ryoko Kui subverts our expectations (like she did with all the characters) with him the most.
He’s supposed to be the emotionally distant character that acts like he doesn’t care about his friends but in almost every episode he’s the FIRST to ask if everyone is ok, the one that worries about everyone and puts them first before himself (example was the box trap and him going out last). He even cares so much about people of his species that he CREATED A UNION just to teach other half-foots that they deserve equal treatment among their parties.
The same with him not being a fighter. I’ve never seen a character go ‘oh I dont fight’ and still finds ways to be an asset to his party members during times of battle. Almost all those characters that are like that are the most useless and their entire arc is about them becoming assets to their team. Chilchuck isn’t like that. He’s still useful and knows how to make his strengths benefit his teammates.
He might not be the strongest, or the fastest but he’s smart and so goddamn useful even if he cant defeat the monster on his own. He’s a team player and he’s lucky that everyone in his party is also a team player because my god each of them work so flawlessly together the best sports team is shaking in their boots.
He’s emotionally distant yet his actions always speak louder than his words. I relate so much because I can never voice my emotions but I will go out of my way in making sure the people I love are ok with my actions.
I’m so normal about this divorced, middle-aged man.

A Football prank
Today is the big day, the big game that will decide the future of several young athletes will be about to start, the field full of fans from different schools will see which team will be the one to take the victory. However, the poor decisions of four athletes will be an obstacle to the big trophy.
Mikey was a nerdy young student, he was always the best in the classes with the best grades which made him an easy target for the bullies on duty:
Kenny: A rather gentle black boy, he doesn't like problems off the field, however, thanks to his friends he gradually took on a bully role. Moderately muscular and the shortest of the four friends.
Devin: The most muscular of all, he is relaxed and likes to annoy those he calls "nerds", he is passionate about everything that is sporty and especially uniforms that make him highlight certain parts of his body to try to be more attractive.
Tyler: The most attractive of the whole team, tall, blond and with blue eyes who causes several girls to go after him, even if he doesn't pay attention to him. He has an organized personality and likes to play pranks on his friends.
Jake: The most masculine of them all, he has a small beard and a seductive and dominant look, he is competitive and his favorite hobby is annoying nerds or his own brother.
This group of athlete friends never miss any training and much less the sporting events organized by their school, always giving their all on the field, however, that is not the only thing they do.
Mikey was his favorite nerd, where he meets that group who laugh out loud while making cruel jokes on him, where he often ends up penniless and on the verge of a mental breakdown, but this time he won't allow them not to get any punishment for what they've done to him and other students.
Using his intelligence and his contact which is his best friend who is also on the football team, he put together a rather cruel but fair plan.
On the day of the grand finale between two rival schools, Mikey will put an extra-strong, fast-acting laxative in his bullies' energy drinks, while his best friend will deliver those drinks to them so that there is no suspicion on their part, a perfect plan.
Finally the big day arrived and the plan went perfectly, the four drinks were loaded with laxative which its flavor would be camouflaged by the sweetness of the liquid. The boy offered the drinks to the group: "You are our hope, here are 4 drinks for 4 stars", and without thinking twice they took the whole content in one gulp, the group had the same opinion: "delicious"
And in the blink of an eye they were already on the field with the eyes of everyone around them. The first minutes were of pure calm if we talk about their stomachs since the rival school team were difficult opponents to beat, several with great musculature, speed and endurance, the united strength of the team was required to be able to beat them and take the victory, but their union would not last long.
Thanks to the frenetic nature of the sport, the boys' stomachs began to tremble, a chilling sensation filled their bodies that were already beginning to sweat.
Kenny:
As he was chasing the ball he began to feel a persistent and uncomfortable gurgling, each step he took bounced his stomach and intestines causing the effect to start much faster than expected.
*GRRRRRRRRRRR*
"Ugh, I feel really bad"
Another gurgling caused him to slow down as he grabbed his sore stomach which begged for mercy and a moment out of physical activity.
*GRRRRRR* *GRRRRRRRR*
"Fuck, my... Stomach... oh no..."
*PPPPFFFFFFTTTTTTT*
A loud fart came out of his butt frantically making his buttocks collide that by then remained tight not only because of the stress of the match, but also because of the sensation he felt inside him, a liquid made its way through his stomach wanting to reach his large intestine as quickly as possible.
*PFFTFTFTFTFTFT* *PRRRRR*
"I don't think I can hold on a little longer..."
*GRRRRRRRR* *PRRRRRRRRRRRR*
"I just have to wait for the first half to end, that's all..."
*GRRRRRRR*
"Nope, I definitely can't!"
He decided to stop following the ball to turn around and head towards the public bathrooms of the field, however, before he even reached the halfway point, an opponent pushed him with all his strength, he had unintentionally entered his territory, the rival was almost twice as heavy as Kenny which caused him to fall to the ground and almost lose consciousness.
*SQHHSQHSQHQSSQSQSQ*
A terrible sensation made him regain consciousness, the squeeze of buttocks was interrupted by that thrust and made him lose control of his intestines letting a small fraction of the diarrhea escape to crash into his pants.
His skin changed tone to a pale one, his eyes turned white while the smell flooded his nose, however, he had not lost hope as it was not so much diarrhea and at least he had released some pressure.
Before heading back to the bathroom he saw how his other friends were going in different directions, Kenny didn't know why, but he wasn't interested when he has his own problems to solve.
Despite the shouts of his coach, he ignored it and finally reached the public bathroom in the middle of the game.
"I don't have time to wait for the break in the first half"
It was rare to see star players leave the field even though the game was still on, so several people set their sights on the 4 friends, although some were out of sight.
Kenny finally arrived at the public toilet which was actually a portable toilet, he tried to open the door, but it was locked, plus a disgusting smell came out of there, what was missing, is occupied.
Kenny began to knock frantically on the door, but a thick voice caused him to freeze in the moment: "Hey! Your little boy stops knocking on the door" was the voice of the director, "I'm done and I'm cleaning myself, but if you want to come in when I leave I'll tell you that I've eaten hot wings so it will be your responsibility"
In desperation, Kenny began to jump frantically using one hand to hold his stomach and the other to cover his anus and try to keep nothing from coming out of there, but his efforts were in vain.
Just as the director opened the door, a thunderous noise was present.
*PFPPFTPPTFTTFFTPFPPFTTFF*
His body could not take it anymore and decided to evacuate everything inside.
*SQHSQHQHHSHSHSHQHSQSQS* *PPPPPPRRRRRRRRRRR* *TRRRRRRRRR* *SHQHSHSQHSHSQHSHSQHSQHSQ* *GRRRRRRR*
When he looked up, he saw the director with a stunned look and then changed to a mocking smile: "Ha! Wow but if you're Kevin, a lot of students spoke very badly about you, but I think they omitted the smell part."
Kevin pulled the director aside and locked himself in the smelly bathroom and sat down in the sweaty, hot seat.
*TRTRTRTRTRTRTRTRTRTRTRTRTRTRTRTRTRTRTRTRTRTRTRTR* *KSQKQSKSKQ* *PFFFFTFTFTFTFTF* *SQHQSHSQHHSSHHQSQHSQQQS*
"Incredible, and I thought that when I drink beer and eat wings I destroyed the toilets, I can't believe that one of the stars of the team has shit on his pants, I will leave you alone"
*HQSHQSHSHQSHQHSHQS* *SHSHSHHSSHHSHSHSHS* *PFTFTFTFTFTFTFF* *PLOP* *PLOP* *PLOP* *PLOP*
Finally there was a moment of calm for Kenny, he saw with sadness his white pants full of brown shit, he looked up with still sweat and thought "I hope my friends are winning..."
Devin:
Of all his team he was the most brusque to play so the effects didn't take long... *GRRRRRRRRRRRRRR*
His pace began to slow down while his stomach only accelerated its movement while several farts came out of him.
*PFFFTTT* *PFFFTTTT* *PPFFTT*
His farts were submachine gun type, in other words, small but quite loud, each fart combo increased the weight Devin felt in his stomach until that weight went to his rectum where he hated to feel a thick diarrhea that could barely allow the fart to escape to relieve the pressure.
"It can't be! Why now?"
He stopped for a moment in the middle of the court, held his stomach, lifted his butt in the air and let out a big, powerful fart.
*PPPPPFFFFTFTFTFTFTFTFTFTFTFT*
"Hahaha, that was a tremendous one..."
*GRRRRRRR* *PPPPFFFFTTTTT*
"But releasing it didn't make me feel better... I don't think I can wait for the first half to end..."
*PPPFFFFFTTTTTTTT*
"I need to find a bathroom soon..."
He turned his gaze to the only portable toilet on the field, but unfortunately he saw how a tall man in a suit entered, leaving him with no options.
"Fuck! I think I'll keep farting a couple more to relax my stomach."
*PFFFTTTT* *PPPFTFTFTFTFTFTFTFTF* *PFFFTT* *SQQSHH*
"Oh no... that was a wet one... I definitely won't be able to go on like this."
With regret in his heart and year he decided to leave the game aside despite the shout of the other members of the team, before leaving the place he turned his gaze back and saw how his other friends were heading to different places.
He ran as fast as his current condition allowed, every step he took he could feel how little by little liquid tried to escape from his ass, he was near the school until a violent gurgling stopped him followed by several farts one after another.
*PPPFFTTFTF* *PPFTFTFTF* *PFPTPPPTTP* *PFPPTPFFPTP* *PPPPFFTFTFTFTF*
"I can't take it anymore!"
He went to some bushes that were near him, took off his tight pants and his helmet to bend more comfortably preventing his butt from rustling the leaves of that bush.
*PPPPPFPFFPFPFTFTFTFTFTFTTFFFFFFFFTTTTTTTTTT*
A gigantic fart came out of his bare butt first, announcing something impressive.
*QRQRQRQRQRQRQRQRQRQRQRQRQR*
A gigantic trunk made its way through the rectum out of Devin's tired anus as he began to sweat.
"Ufff Ufff Ufff"
*QRQRQRQRQRQRQRQRQRQR* *SPLASH*
He finally came out, it looked about the size of a human arm, that took some of Devin's gut pain away and he thought he just had to evacuate that big trunk, but he was wrong.
*GRRRRRRRRR*
"Oh no again"
*PSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS* *SQHHSHQSHSHQQSHSHQSQHQSQHQS* *TRTRTRTRTRTRTRTRTRTRTRTR* *SHQHSQHSQHQHSQSQQSQQSQ*
A torrent of liquid diarrhea came out of his body, apparently that solid poop served as a cork to stop the diarrhea that was generated in his stomach, perhaps that was the reason why he could fart without worrying so much.
*PPFTFTFTFTFT* *SHQHSQHSHSQHSQHQSS* *PFTFTFTFTFTFTFTFTFT* *PPPPRRRRRRRRRR* *TTTTSSSSSSSSSSSS*
The second round was even more violent than the previous one as the shit that fell to the ground began to splash and reach longer distances, staining Devin's favorite shoes a bit.
*QSHSHHSHSHSQHSQHSQHSQHSQSQSQSQSQ *TRTRTRTRTRTRTR* *PFTTFTFTFTFTFF* *GRRRRRRRR*
With another diarrheal explosion and the exit of another small log, Devin's intestines managed to calm down enough to regain his composure.
"Phew, I think it was enough for now... Fuck! I've completely forgotten that I don't have toilet paper!"
He began to despair and frantically looked around not only to look for something to clean himself with but also someone who had witnessed what happened, in the end he had some luck to remember that he had just defecated in a bush full of leaves.
With his bare and sweaty hands he began to remove some leaves and began to rub them against his disastrous butt, he gently tapped while the stress was leaving.
After 5 minutes, he finally got up, he had used several leaves that were left on the ground trying to cover the diarrhea and that trunk to hide what had happened there, but that was not the end of Devin's problems as he began to feel a slight tingle.
"I think having gone through so much stress made my hands go a little numby and the... butt?"
Under his gaze and saw his red hands, the slight tingling changed to an annoying and irritating itch that unfortunately not only affected his hands, but also his already battered butt.
He began to scratch frantically only causing a worse reaction, the turn to that bush to realize that he had just cleaned his butt with poison ivy.
As he jumped in pain as he felt irritation about to invade his balls, he wondered, "Where have my friends gone?"
Tyler:
He stood on the sidelines of the team and waited for a chance to take the ball and as he was about to touch it a big blast of air came out of his butt.
*PPPFTFTFTFTFTFTFTFTFTFTFTFTFTFTF*
He immediately knew that it was no ordinary fart, he felt that a couple of drops came out of his butt and it was not exactly sweat.
He froze for a moment while the rival team regained possession of the ball, and suddenly he felt a hand on his shoulder that brought him out of the trance:
I read: "Hey! You have missed that golden opportunity to take advantage of them"
It was Leo, a moderately muscular man and the newest member of the team who also showed a great talent for football, even if he lacks practice. Leo noticed the sweat on Tyler's forehead as he kept a blank stare and asked:
Leo: "Are you okay?"
Tyler reacted immediately and tried to pretend he didn't feel sick by giving a big, somewhat forced smile while saying "Don't worry."
Leo wanted to continue talking to him, but Tyler decided to leave to follow the ball again, he could not disappoint the team or his friends, he also has a new concern thanks to Leo who always proved to be insistent on helping others, almost as a talent he can know when a person is bad both physically and mentally, in addition, it seems that Leo cared more about Tyler than all the other members of the team.
10 minutes of a great marathon passed behind the ball, but little by little his stomach became heavier causing him to lose speed and little by little he was left behind, the stomach pain was so much that for every 5 steps a fart escaped more and more violent and wet.
*PPPFTFTFTFT* *PPPFTFTFTFTFTFTF* *PPFFTFT*
"Damn! There is still a long way to go before the end of the first half"
*GGGRRRRRRRR* *PPPFTFTFTFTFTFTFTFTFT*
"Maybe I can ask the coach for a rest and be able to go to the portable stadium toilet...*GRRRRR* but it would be very embarrassing because I know that the diarrhea I'm going to have will not be normal and you can hear it for miles"
*PPPFFFFFTTTTTTT*
"But I really need to sit on the porcelain right now..."
He stopped running and stayed in the middle of the court holding his stomach ache.
*PPFTFTTFTFTF* *PPPFTFTTF* *PPFPFFTFTFTFTTF* *PPPFTFTTFTFTFT*
Meanwhile Leo continued to give his all in the game, although he could not get Tyler out of his head, when he lost sight of the ball he turned his gaze to Tyler who was lying standing with his eyes up.
Tyler realized that Leo was watching him and ran again to avoid suspicion... A terrible mistake.
*PPPFTFTFTFTFTFTFTFTFTFTFTFTF* *SQQSHH*
His stomach was losing the battle, it stopped abruptly as another flurry of wet farts came out of him.
*PPFTFTFTFTFTFTF* *PPFTFTFTFT* *PPPFTFTFTFTFT* *PPFTFTFT*
Tyler definitely lost control of the situation, he started frantically looking everywhere to look for the portable toilet on the court, but he just saw how the door closed abruptly, he had no choice but to try to get to the school bathrooms, something impossible at that time.
As he ran off the field, he saw his group of friends separate and walk away from the field, but he didn't think it was important.
Leo saw the scene from afar, saw how 4 of the team's sports stars were urgently leaving the place and decided to follow Tyler to see if he was okay.
Tyler, already halfway away from the big show, was frantically looking for a shortcut to the bathroom or in the worst case a large bush to hide his butt and his diarrhea, but before deciding his fate, a scream caught his attention.
"TYLER!"
It was Leo's voice who was running after him.
Leo: "What happened to you? Because you decided to flee the party"
Tyler: "I wasn't running away, I was just going to do something I forgot..."
Leo: "So why didn't you wait for the first half to end instead of abandoning the team?"
Tyler: "I don't..."
*PPPFTFTFTFTFTFTFTFTFTFTFTFTFTFTF*
A loud fart was present, Leo was stunned while Tyler was totally blushing with embarrassment.
*PPFTFTFTF* *PPFTFTFT* *PPPPFFFTTT*
Tyler quickly took off his pants and grabbed his helmet to use as a makeshift toilet, he might as well shit on the floor, but he didn't want Leo to see his naked ass and penis while he was flushing a large fountain of natural chocolate, plus there was no bush nearby to cover it.
*QSHHQSHSQHSQHSQHQHSHSHSQSQS* *PPPFTFTFTFTFTFTFT* *PRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR*
As expected, the first shock was violent, Tyler tried not to moan, but it was impossible.
*PPPFTFTFTFTFTFTFTTF* *TRTRTRTRTRTRTRTRTRTRTRTRTRTR* *GHRGHRGHRHR* *PSSSSSSSSSSSSS*
Leo saw the scene not with disgust, in fact, it was the best thing that had happened to him in his life, he was gay in the closet and his crush was Tyler but he could not confess it for fear of rejection, but finally he could observe his large naked body although it was not the best of situations.
*SQHSQHHQSHQHSQHSQHSHQSHQS* *PSSSSSSSSSSSS* *PRPRPRPRPRPRPRPRPR* *SQSHHHHHHH* *PFTFTFTFTFTFTFTFTFTFTFTFTFTF* *SHHHHHHHHHHHHH*
Tyler finally looked back at Leo, while he tried to hide his erection.
I read: "I'm so sorry! I didn't know you needed to go to the bathroom!"
Tyler: "You look more blushing than me, this is so embarrassing ugh" *PFTFTFTFTFTFTFTFTFTFTFTFF*
Leo: "Do you need help?"
Tyler: "What do you think? *SHQHSHQSHQHSQHSQHS* I'm naked outdoors while my ass discharges all the food of an entire year..." *SHQSHSHQHSHQHSHQHSQHSQHSQHSQ* *PPPRRRRRRRRRRR* *SHHSHQHSHQHSQHSHQHSHQSSQSQSQ*
Leo took off his shirt and covered Tyler's body while he couldn't help but laugh to stop feeling embarrassed.
Tyler: "Come to think of it, you and I don't know each other very well, how about we get out of these someday?"
Leo: "Like a date?"
Tyler: "If you look at it like that, hahaha *SQHSHHQSHQHSHQSHSQHSQHS* by the way, could you get toilet paper? I heard that a lot of poison ivy grows in these places..."
I read: "Sure! And by the way... Your friends also fled the party, what do you think happened to them?"
Tyler: "No idea" *PPPFFFTTT*
Jake:
He demonstrated his dominance in the sport every minute of the game and had kept the ball for quite some time while strategizing to score points.
But his movements began to lose power and his brain had a hard time even formulating a thought other than his butt in the toilet.
*GRRRRRRRRRRR*
"Damn! Maybe it was this morning's coffee? But that only makes me fart..."
*PPFTFTFTFTFTFTTF*
"Well, that was one, but... the farts in the café are not wet and neither are they..."
*GRRRRRRR*
"It makes me want to go to the bathroom"
Jake kept trying to focus on the match, but his ass couldn't handle that much pressure and he needed to release it urgently, so while he ran his butt focused on loosening his buttocks a little and giving way to the foul smell.
*PPFTFTF* *PPPFTFTFTFT* *PPFFFFTT* *PRRRRRR*
With each passing minute, his farts became more violent and wet, so much so that even his underpants began to get damp not only with sweat.
"There is still a long way to go before the end of the first half..."
*GGGGRRRRRRR*
"Fuck this, if I don't get to a bathroom soon, my pants will go from white to brown."
He went to the only portable toilet in the place, however, he saw an adult in a suit enter, Jake yelled to stop, but his pleas were not heard.
"Shit! Now what do I do? I think I will be able to resist a little longer to get to the school bathrooms, but... they are really disgusting"
*GGRRRRRRRRRR*
"It's true! My house is close to here, if I run I will be able to use my bathroom and avoid going through embarrassing moments"
Without thinking twice, Jake decided to leave the game and his friends, but first he looked back to see how they were doing and apparently they were all heading to different places.
His diet was quite rough, he often went through whole days of constipation, so his stomach was strong enough to withstand the large amount of fluids in his rectum until he reached his house.
As he ran, his buttocks lost more of the pressure they were exerting on the anus, so several wet farts escaped.
*PPFTFTFTTFTF* *PFTFTTF* *PRRRRR*
But the effort and his wet underpants were worth it when he got home, he went in and went up to the second floor and tried to open the door of the only bathroom in the house, but it was locked.
*TOCK* *TOCK*
"Is there anyone here?"
Behind the door was his younger brother Jhon combing his hair, when he heard his brother's voice he was surprised because he had an extremely important game which had not ended.
Jake: "Open the door for me please! It's urgent!"
Jhon: "Aren't you supposed to be in a game or something?"
Jake: "I know! But I had to abandon it because something I ate fell very badly on my stomach, I'm about to on myself!"
Jhon was about to open the door, but he remembered that this morning he played a practical joke on him at breakfast, when he asked Jake for the sugar he gave him the salt, something that ruined his breakfast, plus it always bothers him.
Jhon: "Well, go to some bush or something, I'm busy here"
Jake: "Open the damn door! Or I'll right here and make you clean it up!"
Jhon: "You wouldn't dare, and even if you forced me I wouldn't do it, besides our parents getting very angry"
Jake: "Please! I feel like it's already coming out!"
*PPFTFTFT* *PPFTFTFTFTFTFT* *PPFTFTFTFT* *PPFFFFTTTTT*
Jhon: "HAHAHAHA"
Jake: "Listen to that!"
Jake started jumping while both of his hands were covering his anus to prevent a terrible accident from happening, and out of desperation he began to try to knock down the door with his elbow, like the police shows he has always liked.
Jhon was nervous, he knew his brother and his determination very well and he was afraid that he would break the door and his parents would scold both of them if that happened, so he decided to make one last joke and waited for Jake to get the urge to knock on the door again, when that happened, Jhon opened the door causing Jake to fall to the bathroom floor.
*PPPFTFTFTFTFTFTFTFTFTFTFTFTF* *SQSHH*
Jake: "!"
Jhon: "All yours bro"
Jhon left the bathroom without closing the door to annoy Jake even more, meanwhile Jake didn't care at all and began to undress and after a long day sit on the precious toilet.
*QRQRQRQRQRQRQRQRQRQRQRQRQRQRQR* *PLOP*
The first round was a gigantic log due to his constipation, but that was only the beginning.
*SHQHSQHSHHQSHSHQSHQSSQSSQ* *PPFTTFTFTFTTF* *TRTRTRTRTRTRTRTRTRTRTR* *SQHHSQHSHQSHQHSQHSHSQHQ* *PPPFFFTTTTTPPPPPPFFFFFTTTT*
Several farts followed by wet shit came out of him, his anus finally exploded which became quite obvious to Jhon who was on the first floor of the house who sneered: "In the end you made a great note on the toilet and not in the game!"
Jake: "Shut up!"
*PPFTFTFTFTFTFTF* *SHSHQHQSHQHSQHQHSQSQS* *PPPSSSSSS* *PPFTFTFTFTFF* *TRTRTRTRTRTR* *PLOP* *PLOP* *PFFTTT* *SQSHHHHHHHHHH*
More runny diarrhea came out of him, even with the door open the bathroom couldn't shake the nauseating smell that Jake emanated.
*PSSSSSSSSSS* *PFTFTFTF* *PSSSSSSSS* *TRTRTRTRTRTTRT* *PPSSSSSSSSS* *QHSHQSHQSHQHSQHSQHSQHSQSQSS* *PPSSSSSSSS* *PFTFTFTFTFTFTFTFTF*
Another round caused his stomach to shrink to try and get everything out of his system.
*PLOP* *PLOP* *PLOP*
More small logs came out of his anus, apparently it was not a good idea to eat so much protein for the game.
*QHHSHQSHSQHSHQSHQSHSHQSHQSHQS* *PFTFTFTFTFTFTF* *TRTRTRTR* *QSHQHSHQSHQSHQHSQHSQHSQHSQ* *PPFTFTFTFTFTF*
Jake: "Wait a minute... the match! *PFTFTF* completely forgot, and also... where were my friends going?"
After 20 minutes, Jake was returning to the game, in the distance he saw the coach quite angry yelling at Tyler and Leo, Jake tried to return home to avoid the coach yelling at him, but it was too late, he had already noticed Jake's presence.
After 10 minutes of screaming and being ejected from the game, the three teammates found themselves talking about what happened and Jake questioned Tyler about why he fled the game, he did not give him an answer and asked the same to Jake who did not answer either, now the only unknown in all this was to know where Kenny and Devin went.

TCAW Day 1 - The Early Years
Tumblr media
My headcanon for Tobias's early years below break.
If you'd like to create a template like this, you can find one I created here.
Birth to age seven (The only-child years):
Tobias was born into two different worlds. His father's family was a prominent, very wealthy family; their name alone opened doors. Whereas his mother's hardworking family struggled to get by. Vivian's grandfather was a pastor in a local church, so their family was well revered.
His father was a renowned physician and medical educator. Vivian went to school to be a nurse, but her true love was the arts. After she and Charles were married, she left nursing. She ran a non-profit that she and Charles created that expanded science and art education in disadvantaged schools. This grew to include internships, mentoring, and scholarship programs. Vivian was also an artist and became a curator later in life.
Tobias's parents were madly in love. So much so that, sometimes, he felt left out. They loved him very much, but work and social obligations often took them away from home.
Some relatives on his father's side loved and accepted him (notably his Uncle William), but the rest did not. They disapproved of Charles marrying someone of another race and socio-economic background, and they were not terribly welcoming of Tobias either.
Vivian's family also has misgivings about the union, but when the couple eloped, they welcomed Charles into the family. They adored Tobias right from the start.
Tobia's closest friend was, Kerry Chadwick. The daughter of a family friend, and also from an upper-crust family. She was, and remains, one of his closest friends. Tobias considers her family.
His favorite activities were reading and arts and crafts. He loved spending time with his cousins at his maternal grandparent's home. He also attended Sunday School and summer camp at the family's church.
His parents had another child when he was seven. He was excited but underwhelmed when Jordan was born. He expected an instant playmate, but instead, it was just one more thing that took his parent's already limited time away from him.
Childhood and Tween Years:
Tobias attended Sidwell-Friends School, an elite private school.
He was an excellent student. Naturally intelligent, he didn't have to put much effort into maintaining top grades.
His academic acumen and family name made him a favorite among the faculty. Whereas his affable manner and sense of humor made him a hit among his classmates.
Tobias learned how to move in his father's world very early, but with a certain degree of disdain. He preferred being with his maternal family.
He and Jordan had a good relationship, and Tobias was very protective of him, but the age difference got in the way of them being exceptionally close until they were much older.
He loved sports, particularly basketball, and soccer. He played on a few teams at school but preferred playing for fun with his friends/cousins. He also loved music. He didn't play instruments but had a beautiful singing voice and sang in the choir at his family's church until he started high school.
During this time, he began having internal struggles trying to co-exist in two worlds. He was close to his maternal cousins, but their vastly different circumstances created a wedge... not of Tobias's doing. His grandparents worked to bridge the divide, and the cousins maintained a relationship, but damage was done.
High School and College:
Tobias finished high school at Sidewell-Friends. He was extremely popular and known for having a mischievous streak. He graduated near the top of his class.
His lady's man rep started in high school, although it wasn't fully deserved at the time. He didn't date many people, but he was an audacious flirt, and everyone wanted him. He and Kerry (his best friend) dated for a year but decided they were better off as friends.
Tobias was accepted to every college he applied to, including some of the best in the nation. He had decided he wanted to attend an HBCU (historically black colleges & universities) and chose Howard University.
His father, who wanted him to attend an Ivy, was not pleased. Even before this, Tobias was having some conflicts with his father. He didn't feel his father minimized the struggles that he, Vivian, and Jordan faced as black Americans, and he didn't think he had done enough to protect them from his often racist family growing up. While his father's choice in colleges stemmed from a place of wanting "the best" for his son, his failure to understand why it was so important for Tobias to attend Howard only widened the chasm between them.
Howard is in DC, but he lived on campus and avoided his father as much as possible during those four years.
Jordan did not share Tobias's sentiments, and this caused friction between the brothers. The situation was extremely distressing to Vivian, and she attempted to mediate but without much success.
While his family life was at a low, Tobias loved college and reveled in the college experience. He loved a party and was usually the life of it.
In college, he earned the lady's man rep. He did date his college girlfriend, Kiara, for a year and a half, but it was tumultuous. He never cheated on her. He was often perilously close. One day, Kiarra had enough and broke up with him. After that, he refused to date anyone seriously until he was set in his career. He had a blast playing the field.
He chose biochemistry as a major and graduated Summa Cun Laude. Again, his studies came easy to him, but college required a bit more attentiveness than high school had before.

15 Questions/15 People
@theearlgreymage @johnwgrey @artsyunderstudy @shrekgogurt @raenestee @yellobb @you-remind-me-of-the-babe @cutestkilla @facewithoutheart @prettylightsbigcity @thewholelemon @fatalfangirl @aroace-genderfluid-sheep thank you all so much for tagging me! I have loved getting to read your responses and learn more about you all 🥰
Are you named after anyone? Nope. Although if I’d been assigned male at birth, my parents would have named me Ross after Ross Poldark because they were big into Poldark during the original tv series and owned the books. I grew up in the nineties when my only reference points for Ross were: Dress for Less and Geller from Friends, so I don’t think I would’ve liked having that name. My sister would have been Tristan after the character from All Creatures Great and Small. Makes me feel so old knowing both of those shows were recently revived…
When was the last time you cried? Thursday when I found out a very lovely someone made one of my fics into an actual book because they loved it so much they wanted to have a physical copy to read! (I don’t know if they’re okay with me saying who they are so I am being intentionally vague.)
Do you have kids? No. Please do not make me be responsible for another human life.
Do you use sarcasm a lot? I don’t think I know how to have a conversation without it.
What’s the first thing you notice about people? I have no idea.
What’s your eye color? Brown. I think I’ve had them described as root beer brown before?
Scary movie or happy endings? Happy ending
Any special talents? I’ve always been a pal of few words (verbally), but I know how to make them count for comedic timing. My grandpa called me a pistol when I was like 2 or 3 and I made my sister spit take so often at the dinner table, everyone in my family told me I should become a comedian.
I can read backwards. When I focus on it, I can talk backwards too—whole sentences not single words. I always thought it would be fun to try to have conversations, but idk who I’d talk to?
I’m ambidextrous.
Where were you born? About thirty miles from here.
What are your hobbies? My main hobby at present is just fandom. Writing, making art, reading, discord, tumblr... it all revolves around Snowbaz and the fandom. If I’m not doing any of that, I’m probably descending slowly into madness from not knowing what else to do with myself. Like. What do people do? I used to tap and I used to play drums. I enjoy baking but my kitchen is too small to make it worth my while most of the time.
Do you have any pets? Not at the moment. I had two cats who were my babies. Mr. T, who passed away in 2018, and Batgirl, who passed away in 2020. I think I’m feeling ready to get another cat, but I can’t have pets in my apartment and also I don’t think I can afford to take care of an animal.
What sports do you play/have you played? I briefly played basketball in sixth (?) grade. But I got freaked out when we were going to start playing in actual games so I dropped out. I played soccer for one year, was always put in the goal, got bored, and picked at the grass as my entertainment. I did try volleyball and badminton but never went anywhere with either. I was always told that I had swimmers shoulders, but was too scared to try the swim team. I really don’t like athletic competition, it would seem.
How tall are you? You know, when I was a little kid, some test said I was going to be 6’7”. I…am not. 😂
Favorite subject at school? Fuck me. English? I have a degree in it, so let’s say that. Actually, it was probably Book Arts in college. I remember dreading the work of school, but loving the rush of academic success. So maybe the real answer is, whatever I was doing best in.
Dream job? This is what is known as an oxymoron. Honestly, my current job is pretty ideal as jobs go: I walk to work, I have a four day week, I’m union, I’m pensioned, I’m hourly, I work for my city government so it’s non profit and I know there’s a point to what I’m doing, my boss is very hands off, and I have free time for...tumblr tag games.
Tagging to share if you want or to say hi if you don’t. Hi!! @bazzybelle @bookish-bogwitch @excalisbury @foolofabookwyrm-activated @ivelovedhimthroughworse @jbrrring @moodandmist @martsonmars @mostlymaudlin @nightimedreamersworld @otherpeoplesheartachept-2 @stardustasincocaine @tea-brigade @urban-sith @wetheformidables

Next order of business : Tax cuts to help the everyday person keep more of their check in their pockets cut the tax rates in New York City by 4 percent I see it as New York State taxes % 8.82 to % 4 percent and business tax cuts to create more jobs Proposal For a Wage increase of $ 22 dollars an hour Including : Fire safety directors Security guards Librarians Fed Ex workers UPS workers Ready Willing and able with free vocational grants from access vr programs they should hire vocational rehabilitation counselors and job developers finding permanent housing and permanent job placement after the clients training Stock Clerks and cashier's at major stores like Gristedes , C Town , met foods , Burlington coat factory wage increase for all warehousing and factory workers jack pallet and forklift training for people with no experience and a starting salary at $ 17 - 19 $ dollars an hour and it increase with more time on the job how about the first year at that base salary of $ 17 - 19 $ dollars and on the even of that year the employee gets an raise of $ 2 dollars more on their check and other financial incentives as cash allocation from their check for newly place employee mutual fund packages besides with other benefits that said company is offering this helps to place that company on the stock market grant their employees preferred stock options from their company that they work for at that current moment and because of the huge huge employee buy in it is like the employers are investing in their employees and their stores and company .

I'm saying no to any attachment to me from these neighborhoods I don't know anybody out here but no disrespect to them these neighborhood and community is dangerous and evil I hope the best for this community and wish them the best that is why the plans on this page is for them to have a better life and I moved on from the Drayton family , Austin family from Harlem and the Eagler family and hope the best for them and their music career their pretty good if you listen to it that's the truth and only truth and no thank you to the echo in my head and my room I said no . Yeah I cut that show off and the courtroom can stop trying to get a case against me and I said no to the media and their friends in these streets I said no you can stop filming and recording me and working with police against me and I'm the one building New York and it's economy . I promise to stay off the computer from now on it's a promise all my old friends are having a great time in their life with their kids and family and their music is hot MK MR 212 Michael Drayton his music is super hot and just gave him his life back so he could sell multiple platinum times and don't forget from 50 Cent go get a drink at Lorraine's bar in Harlem the atmosphere is beautiful these are the things I choose to do with my own time I chase business deals and train for my music career with Jay Z and Beyonce on Roc Nation and Tidal music streaming service and yeah yeah myself job skills to help me get there they left me something four years ago and said it is mines forever and I'm trying to get to it and yeah I help the hood a billion times more than they help me but no to the hood you can back off of me with the voodoo and attachment to try to steal my life and energy from me I only wish the best for you and enjoy any service I provide from now on . Thank you a friend put me on a good path don't forget to check his music out and as you can see I gotta alotta studying to do right now .
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
My favorite film on youtube right now Tom Brady versus the world epilogue , thank you I'm honored I took New York City to greatness and it's in place for it only to get better in New York and places like New York City . I like the plays we ran but then they go off into some other stuff that is against what the integrity of this page is about it's deep but then you start shooting off which is okay because nobody is hurt and everybody is doing good with the career and families but it then destroy my brand and what I built this page for so I move to stop posting the helping is cool and I'm taking credit for it because it is my plans and ideas but the voodoo curse stronger than me that my enemies now control me with so now I ask for a trade to my own team and to be able to control my own life and get a regular job that the city of New York promised me because I'm not their enemy and go conduct my business from there with my other promised contracts that I gotta work for and earn my living from , no thank you to my puppet masters .
Put an 100 million $ dollar boost in New York State economy that's proven math plus my other accomplishments

The snipers were John Allen Muhammad (age 41 at the time) and Lee Boyd Malvo (age 17 at the time), who traveled in a blue 1990 Chevrolet Caprice sedan. Their crime spree, which began in February 2002, included murders and robberies in several states, which resulted in seven deaths and seven injuries. In total, the snipers killed 17 people and wounded 10 others in a 10-month span.[2]In September 2003, Muhammad was sentenced to death, and in October, Malvo, a juvenile, was sentenced to six consecutive life sentences without parole. In November 2009, Muhammad was executed by lethal injection. In 2017, the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit vacated Malvo's three life sentences without parole in Virginia on appeal, with re-sentencing ordered pursuant to the Supreme Court's ruling in the case of Miller v. Alabama, 567 U.S. 460, 132 S.Ct. 2455 (2012), which held that mandatory life sentences for juvenile criminals without possibility of parole violated the Eighth Amendment to the U.S. Constitution. The U.S. Supreme Court granted certiorari, with oral arguments held on October 16, 2019.[3] Should he be resentenced, Malvo's minimum prison sentence will be determined by a judge; the available maximum sentence would be life imprisonment. The ruling does not apply to the six life sentences Malvo received in Maryland.[4] On February 25, 2020, after the passage of a Virginia law allowing those who are serving life sentences for offenses committed before the age of 18 to seek release after serving 20 years,[5] the U.S. Supreme Court case was dismissed at the request of lawyers on both sides.[6]

post-election thoughts
i've spent a lot of time trying to get my thoughts together on how to move forward in the wake of the us election results. after giving it some thought and listening to the advice of some creators, i wanna share some points i feel might be useful. some are more practical, some is more emotional. everything below the break.
the way things are going now, barring something sudden and unprecedented (we're all free to hope and dream of course), donald trump will be the next us president. this is no longer something we can control and we need to accept that. what we can control is our response.
first things first, get some important documents ready, most important being your passport. if you don't have one, get one. if you have one, make sure it's updated. if you're part of any marginalized population or even just a white cishet dissenter (thanks for being an ally if you are), there is a non-zero chance that you may have to flee the country. there are countries out there that will accept americans seeking asylum, that's something to look into and be ready for.
second, get with your community. if you don't have a specific community you're actively involved in, find one and get involved. whatever it is, find something to build community and relationships with others around. whether it's fellow queer people in your area, or civil rights advocacy groups or the local gaming scene or local musicians or the folks in the stands of your favorite soccer team (on that last one: some MLS supporter groups are openly antifascist. not all of them, but some of them. just a thought if you're a sports person). point is, be with a community and be active about forming relationships and building trust with the folks there. both you and they are going to need a support network of some kind, and there's no time like the present.
third, also kinda sorta related to the second, find a political organization and join it. look into the myriad existing organizations out there. join the one that matches your values best and, again, get active and involved. whether it's democratic socialists of america, the industrial workers of the world, the freedom road socialist organization, the revolutionary communists of america, the maoist communist union (cue the mcu jokes), mutual aid disaster relief, socialist rifle association, socialist alliance or whatever. just find an org, join it, get out there with your comrades and allies. minor point: the time for shit talking other leftists over what little differences you actually have has passed. the time for unity is now. not ten years down the road, not within the next few months, not tomorrow. now.
fourth, if you can get away with it talk with your coworkers about organizing a union. unions are good for workers and if what we know about the republican agenda thus far is any indication, we're all going to need a union to back us up. may day 2028 might seem far off but if the uaw plan is put into effect then that'll be an important day for american labor, so the time to organize and make some kind of plan is now. we got about 4 years, make the most of that time.
fifth, and just as important as all earlier points, do not lose hope. the right wants you to feel demoralized, defeated, and alone. don't give them that. whatever keeps you going, be it love or pure spite or the amusement of being an annoying obstructionist and getting in republicans' way, hold onto it. hold onto the people you love and care for. we've lost this battle, but it's neither the first nor last battle for us. hold on, keep your head high, move forward.
last, just remember: you are not alone. you will get through, and you will overcome. the sun will rise on us again. that's all i have for now. check in on your friends, stay safe, take a breath and take breaks as needed.
soon, we're gettin' busy.

Day 14
Title: Soulmates? Not Exactly.
Note: I was listening to Tightrope as I wrote this and now I’m sad, highkey, I teared up at the end. ANYWAYS, no deaths here, just angst. Man, I really did enjoy writing this, though.
˜”*°•.˜”*°•.•°*”˜.•°*”˜
Do your best.
Those were the words engraved on his wrist and Tanaka almost had an aneurysm at the sight. Most of the time, the words came out when people were fourteen or thirteen, and they had years to find out who their soulmate was. But Tanaka had received his at seventeen. When he read them, he was as excited as ever. They seemed like common words but only someone specific would tell him.
His childhood best friend, Y/N L/N, hadn’t gotten hers yet and she was always wondering why. “I probably don’t have a soulmate.”
“Cheer up, Y/N, I’m sure there are other people like you.” Tanaka said, before realizing that it was actually a rude thing to say and tried to backpedal. “Wait, I’m sorry, that was mean--”
Y/N looked at him, shaking her head with a small smile. “Yeah, maybe you’re right. I’ll find love I guess, I don’t need a soulmate to find love.”
However, it still made her dejected as she saw couples holding hands on the streets, their wrists marked with a small yet visible circle to say that they’ve found their soulmate. Her wrists were blank every time she saw them.
High school came and went as quickly as a monarch butterfly. Y/N could only watch as her best friend got a new crush on his manager.
“What if she isn’t the one? What if she isn’t my soulmate?” Tanaka complained as he lied across her lap back at her house. He looked down at his wrist, the bold black words shining and reflecting at him. They would tell him who he would spend the rest of his life with.
~
It was the day before one of the biggest games of the entire season. Tanaka was preparing himself and training in order to get himself to his highest potential. He was ready, he was good to go, he knew his game plan and everything. While he wasn’t the smartest person academically (thankfully, Y/N helped him pass with at least decent grades) , when it came to his sport, he was right on the spot.
Heading to the gym, Takeda and Kiyoko had said something about their old banner and they pulled it out, taking the team aback as they watched the two characters across a silky black labarum. Kiyoko stammered over her words before looking to the side, a deep blush in her cheeks. “Do your best.”
The third and second years stayed there, staring at her while letting tears come out of their eyes. Incoherently babbling, Tanaka and Nishinoya held onto each other, thinking that this was the happiest day of their entire lives.
“Wait. Ryu, what are the words on your wrist?” Nishinoya said after they pulled themselves together.
Tanaka checked the words on his wrist and he grinned widely. “Now I have to go and talk to her and see if she’s my soulmate!”
“Lucky!” Nishinoya groaned, shaking his head as he looked at the inside of his wrist. It was in a different language, and that both excited him and made him sigh. Adventure was going to be in his grasp, but he was slightly disappointed. It didn’t matter.
Tanaka looked after Kiyoko, hearts in his eyes. He started walking to the bus and turned around hearing, “Ryu!”
Y/N was racing towards him, her hair windblown. He wondered what she was doing here on a Saturday morning. “I wanted to see you before you go to your game!”
“I wish you could come with us, see your best friend in action.” Tanaka chuckled.
Something about those words tugged at Y/N’s heartstrings. Was it “best friend”? No, that couldn’t be, she had no feelings for her best friend. He wasn’t hers, he was someone else’s. She didn’t even know what her soulmate would tell her. She looked down at her wrist, changing the topic, and shook her head. “Nothing yet.”
Tanaka looked at her, pity in his eyes. He bit his lip, not wanting to tell her that he had found his soulmate. He didn’t even question the fact that he didn’t have a circle replacing the words in his wrist. It’d be inconsiderate of him and as much as he teased her about it, his goal was not to aggravate her about it. “You’ll get it soon. Remember what you told me? You don’t need words on your wrist to find love. You’ll find your other soon.”
“TANAKA!” Daichi hollered from inside the bus.
He looked up at the bus and back at Y/N, smiling. “I’ll come over later if you want? We can get your favorite snacks and watch your favorite movie.”
She nodded. “Sounds like a plan.” She wrapped her arms around his waist, putting her head on his chest as he pulled her closer to him, a soft and fond smile directed towards her. He pulled away from her and got onto the bus. The bus departed immediately after he took his seat.
Y/N watched as the bus got out of her sight, a small and quizzical frown on her face. What was she feeling? There was no way she had fallen for someone with a soulmate already, even worse when that person was her best friend. All she could do is shove those feelings away. They could be dealt with another day. She started walking back home, the breeze flowing through her hair. Lost in her thoughts, she didn’t realize she was right in front of her house until her body subconsciously opened the door.
Tell me, Tanaka, what does it feel like to be guaranteed love?
~
It was the perfect day. Bright smiles were plastered on everyone’s faces. Nothing would be able to ruin this day, Y/N was absolutely sure of it. She would be damned if something came in between her best friend’s wedding. Everything was planned down to the smallest detail, from the groom’s boutonnière to the bride’s flowers.
Tanaka and Kiyoko, the duo that people half expected but never expected that this day would come for them. It was like walking a tightrope. It didn’t matter.
He was in his room, getting ready until his wedding day jitters kicked in. “Shit...where’s Y/N?”
As if on cue, Y/N knocked and walked inside, ready in her blue bridesmaid dress. It was obvious that her stylist had made sure that her hair brought out her eyes and when she walked into a room, the radiance coming off of her made everyone’s jaw drop. It didn’t fail on Tanaka. He stared at her, a gentle smile crossing his face as he recalled the times they had in high school. “You look gorgeous.”
“Ryu, don’t say that on your wedding day.” She grinned at him, closing the door behind them. “Nervous?”
“You know me too well.” Tanaka waved her over, sitting in the chair across from her. He stared at his bouncing legs, wringing his hands together. “What if she says no?”
“For one, that’s a waste of cake, I’d be offended. I spent hours looking for the perfect cake and if she doesn’t eat it, what a shame.” Y/N said, making him laugh. Just that laugh in itself made her smile. She took it upon herself to be the one that would make him smile when he couldn’t and she never failed. She never planned to. “But in all seriousness, she won’t say no. You two have come too far for her to back down now.”
“But--”
“Nope. It’s your day. Enjoy it. She’d be insane if she didn’t say yes, you treat her so well.” She found herself saying the words with a bittersweet tone. It had been years and she tried to cover that tone up, but it was impossible.
He took a deep breath and nodded. “I think I’m ready.”
“Do your best.”
“I think I can do more than my best if you’re by my side.” Tanaka smiled at her and said, “I think they’re calling you. It’s your turn.”
“Right.” With a quick hug, she rushed to get in her place, feeling a tingly sensation on her wrist. With her heart pounding, she turned her wrist over and found black letters slowly appearing. I think I can do more than my best if you’re by my side.
Oh no. Oh no no no no. This can’t be happening. Y/N stared at the words, recalling what Tanaka had said. Of all days for her to finally get the words she’d wanted all her life, it had to be on the day that her best friend--no, her soulmate--was getting married to someone else.
Following the bridesmaids down the aisle, Tanaka looked over at Y/N, but Y/N could not look at him as she held her mini bouquet tighter. Nothing would stop this day. Nothing would ruin this day. Not even if the universe was laughing at her misfortune.
Kiyoko walked down the aisle, looking dazzling in her ornate white dress and holding pink, red and white flowers in a bouquet. Y/N watched as Tanaka stared at her, tearing up as Kiyoko reached the altar. Both of them looked over at her and she nodded in reassurance. What Y/N was thinking was that she was the one that had to be in the dress. Kiyoko didn’t belong there, it was her.
But as they sealed their union with a kiss and cheers started flying up, Y/N found herself clapping along with the audience. A single tear started falling down her cheek and she quickly brushed it away with her hand, trying not to ruin her makeup. People would assume she was ecstatic for the newlyweds: after all, it was the friend that she’d been with all her life. There was only one thing wrong with that statement.
It wasn’t a tear of happiness. It was a tear of losing someone she could’ve had.
I was too late.

The Gymnastics Judging Conspiracy Theory - When sports fans don’t understand how things work and decide to be outraged anyway
First a brief primer in how international gymnastics judges are educated/assigned.  Back in the bad old days of gymnastics you would have all sorts of stories about corruption.  There is a famous story about 1987 worlds where an American college gymnastics coach had been convinced to coach the US women’s team and when he got there he went to a party where the judges and federations were literally fixing and trading votes before the competition started.
Some of the most blatant favoritism happened from the Soviet Union and Romanian where the beam final at the 1980 Olympics was delayed half an hour because the Romanian head judge was trying to rig the competition for Nadia.  One of the things to keep an eye out for in old results to suspect this kind of thing is just how many ties there were in those days.
In the modern era the way things work:  A country’s federation puts up a name to take the judges test--they have to get certain marks to be able to judge at certain levels of competition and each country only gets to put up 3 people a year.  The highest level test that you need to judge at the world championships or the olympic games requires near perfect scores and the highest scores on the difficulty section.  In order to judge at the Olympics or the World Championships you have to judge at a certain number of lower level comps including at least one world cup or continental championship.  They only offer the highest level test at the start of every quad and each judge has to take the difficulty section again every quad to maintain their rating.
In international gymnastics meets to send an athlete the country also has to send a judge or pay for the expenses of hiring a replacement judge.  After the competition is over the FIG Women’s Technical Committee (the highest rules making body) reviews judging for bias looking for judges who are out of the range of the other judges on their panel.  If a judge is found to be bias in favor or against a country or an athlete they are given a warning and if they get two in the same quad they get recommended for sanction.  The national federation is also sanctioned even if the bias was found to be unintentional.
This past week the job posting for the person to run the US women’s national program was posted and one of the responsibilities was selecting judges to go to international competition.  Now you can argue that this doesn’t need to be the high performance director’s job... but that’s a whole other thing.
So now the conspiracy theory:  “... if Tom F really wants Riley M to make the Olympic team, he will choose a judge that favors Riley for any international meet she goes to. Therefore she will score well, get a better international reputation and then be more likely to make the Olympic team.”
Now a lot of my readers are writers and I want you to ponder this plot.  You want to hold up an athlete so you send your hand picked Judge Karen McBias and along with Gymnast Sally McInadequate.  The first competition Karen gets there and she’s assigned as a D score judge on vault.  That means all she gets to do is identify what vault a gymnast has done and punch the vault’s predetermined value into the computer.  Sally may not need any boosting on vault but Karen couldn’t help her if she wanted to.  Sally may not be vaulting at all.  Because the US sent Karen but they can’t decide in what capacity she’s ued at the meet.  Okay so meet one is a bust.  You send Karen and Sally to another meet.  Oops, Karen’s job is now to be a line judge on floor.  She gets to watch the floor boundaries and see if anyone steps out of bounds.  Sally could have three airplane crashes on her floor routine but as long as she doesn’t go out of bounds Karen can’t help her.
And gymnasts, particularly American gymnasts, don’t get to compete internationally more than a couple of times a year max.  This seems like a very ineffective conspiracy theory.  Especially because the team selection guidelines are so vague that someone running the American team can generally just put a gymnast on the team and give whatever reasoning they want.
If I wrote that plot in a novel I’d hope my beta readers would tell me it was dumb.
But this is a sports fan culture that despite not knowing how a thing works you get to self righteously say things like “I stand with the athletes. I believe, at the very least, the athletes should have a fair judging panel at meets.”
Congrats mad gym nerd.  You are really standing against something the athletes are really hurting over.

“Sit down.”
Now, if that were coming from the person whose face you had just seen you would have obeyed like a puppy waiting for a treat. However, the person inside the room with you carried zero sex appeal. Not an ounce of it. The way he tried to sound sexy was just revolting.
“I’d rather just stand.” You shrugged. “Make this quick. I still have other places to go to.”
“Oh.” He patted the sofa once more before making his way to his desk. “I think you’d want to sit down once I tell you some news.”
With the chief’s back facing you, your eyes rolled and defeatedly went to flop on the sofa. Leaning on to the back lazily. When his chair creaked and sunk, you gestured for him to proceed.
“Regarding the Fukuo Kai case, the meeting will be held 5 days from now, correct?” Your brows furrowed as you fixed your posture. Eyes squinting as to where he had heard that information. He placed his elbows on his desk and tilted his head. A smug look on his face. “Tsukauchi will be taking your place in the stake out.”
“And why is that?”
“You will be attending a meeting with me. The HPSC wants to talk about the arson case.”
“You’re meddling with my cases again.” You snapped. “But, if it pleases you. Okay. However, it won’t be me informing Overhaul.”
Watching as the chief stood up from his desk, he nodded and walked towards you. Filling the emptiness the sofa had to offer.
“It has come to my attention that you two seem rather...close. Rather alarming is it not?”
“Teamwork among the both of us has been going well. Nothing more to it.” What was this germ up to? Your brain couldn’t figure out what his motives were. “I’m being as cautious as I can be. He has not lashed out nor attempted to hurt me in any way unlike the previous people we had to work with.”
“Yet, the mere mention of his name makes you lower your guard down by a significant amount.” Once again, he put his arm behind your neck and squeezed your shoulder. The scent of roses he once had was now replaced with sweat and leather. “You’ve slackened a bit, baby doll.”
Holding on to his wrist, you twisted it as you stood up. Bending it at a weird angle, your eyes bore holes on to his face. The playful fire in his lit up even more. It made you think, did the other women in the precinct go through this? Subtly activating your quirk, you raised his blood pressure.
“You know I’m getting real tired of your shit…” You threatened him. Hand shaking with anger.
Your head snapped to the door when a knock filled the walls. Letting go of his wrist, he rubbed it but the smug look on his face did not falter. Straightening himself and gaining composure once more, he went towards his desk and told the person to enter.
“Right on time. Ms. (L/N), for the next two days, you will be pairing up again with one of the officers from the Kyoto precinct.” His face followed the person who now entered the office. “Mr. Ackerman, we hope you enjoy your stay here.”
You bit your tongue. Internally activating your quirk, you managed to control the blood travelling to your cheeks. You’ve heard about Mr. Ackerman. A few of your previous cases had you teaming up with him. One thing led to another but it was one of your most well kept secrets. One that not even the chief caught scent of.
How many years had it been? Three or four? The scenery was still fresh in your mind. His words that stung and broke you for months. Still, he was a gentleman. Not wanting to diminish the cooperation you two had, differences were set aside and apologies were exchanged. It ended on a rather better note than you had anticipated.
Of course, there was no denying that the sight of Levi still managed to increase the steady pacing of your heart.
“Ackerman.” You greeted him. Eyes focused on the chief. A useless attempt to read him.
“(L/N).” His voice was still the same. Enticing yet dead at the same time.
“Why don’t you two catch up?” The chief gestured for the both of you to leave the office. Hearing both your responses, he watched as Levi motioned for you to leave first and followed behind. Just as you were about to exit, he spoke up. “And, by the way, update Overhaul’s profile. Put in his name.”
Your eyes widened and jaw tightened. Slowly exhaling, you continued walking. When you heard the door closing, you began to feel around your clothes for any sort of mini-chip that he had planted on you. Not feeling anything, your thoughts replayed to all the touching he had done.
“Fuck…”
“Oi, brat. What’s wrong?” Levi asked.
“He fucking bugged me. Eavesdropped on an off the record scenario a while back.” Anger was now boiling in your blood. Not for the chief but for the fact that you failed in detecting his subtle schemes. No wonder he was all touchy this morning. When your eyes met his, his eyebrows shot up and you could see how he put two and two together.
“It’s been three years, he’s still doing those things to you?” The both of you were now walking towards your cubicle. Back when you were dating, Levi could see just how devious the chief was towards you. He may have threatened him once or twice, the scene before him only fused a died out wick. “You could have just told me, you know.”
“I know.” He had told you time and time again that you should watch your back when it came to the man inside the office. Yet you always brushed it off. Basically, you were now reaping the consequences of being ignorant. “You know I hate causing scenes.”
“Tch. Not a single change from you.” There it was. That smirk that made you weak. Pulling your chair for you, he waited for you to sit till he dragged the empty seat next to yours. “What do you have on the arson case?”
Taking out a file, you handed it over to him and gave him the details so far. He simply did the typical Levi gestures. Nodding his head with the occasional comments.
“I’m honestly at a dead end, but Tsukauchi managed to pick up a straw.” You showed him your schedule. “I’ll be meeting up with Endeavor in 4 days. I can keep you updated if you'd like."
"It's fine. I can stay till after the meeting." Typical. Work was always first when it came to him.
"Where are you staying? You can crash the guest room if you'd like."
"You sure? Gei isn't visiting tonight?" That flamboyant man had always amused him but he'd never tell. He did, after all, get a few phrases from the man himself.
"Nope. You're free to crash. It will require you to buy food." You smiled and that sealed the deal. Agreeing, he stood up to take his things from the lockers as you readied to leave the office.
Moments had passed and both of you were now in your car. Levi offered to drive so you gave him the keys.
"You still into (favorite food)?” He asked. Eyes searching for what food to have for dinner. You were the host so your wants came first.
“Nah. Ov-I’ve had it this afternoon. We can go with whatever you want.” You knew where he was going. He would go to Solive Garden. He was always a sucker for their salad and made from scratch soup. Your thoughts were right when he turned on the next corner. The green sign now within sight. Lucky enough, he saw a vacant lot and parked the car.
Meanwhile, the car parked opposite from yours had a rather different aura going on.
“Mimic.” Overhaul threatened the small creature sitting in the backseat. “You had one job and that was to order food from Niller Union.”
“It wasn’t my fault, boss!” He chirped. “They cancelled at the last minute. I already told them that the leader of the yakuza was the one ordering but they just ended the call.”
Massaging his temples, he could feel the hives starting to form due to rage at the small mishap. Somehow, he had found himself in the car with Chrono behind the wheel and Mimic strapped like a child in the back. Perhaps he just needed a change of scenery since he had no interest in demolishing the whole base tonight. Or so he thought.
“Hey… Isn’t that?” Chrono thought out loud to get Overhaul’s attention.
You had just exited your car, with Levi opening the door for you. Seeing how you were all smiles with another male was something he had not expected. More so when the other male was none other than Levi Ackerman. His golden orbs followed as the two of you walked side by side, entering the establishment.
Chrono simply watched his boss through his peripheral view. What would he do in this instance? It was hidden well but he could see Kai slowly appearing from the depths of Overhaul.
“Mimic. Get out of your suit and buy the meal.”
“Aw, c’mon! Just cause your jealous of that lady with Ackerwacker doesn’t mean you get to use me to spy on them.”
Boy, did Chrono wish he had popcorn.
“You caused this mess. Now get the hell out of that suit before I kill you inside this very car. THRICE.”
Incoherent cursing soon followed. Mimic was sporting his true form. Veins popping from anger. Slamming the door, he stomped towards the store before flipping the vehicle off. Now that the two of them were alone, he waited till Overhaul seemingly calmed down.
“They’re probably just teaming up for a case.” Chrono stated. He was secretly living for the moment. It wasn’t too often he’d see the boss in that state. In his mind, he knew that Kai would ask him to trail you till you reach your building.
“Then why the hell is that troublemaker driving her car, Kurono?” His inner thoughts were thinking of scenarios as to why you would spend time with Ackerwacker. That smile you showcased was something he barely got from you. And then we have this shortstack who got it from you effortlessly. “Follow her till she gets home.”
There it was.
“Isn’t she too preoccupied to date?” Conversations were still possible as of the moment. “I thought you were slowly advancing already.”
“She never stated she was single or not.” Not that it mattered. He would do whatever it takes to make you his. No one had ever fallen asleep on the phone with him, spoke to him so freely, or even sent a rather inviting selfie at 11pm. Furrowing his brows at his thoughts, he cleared his throat and let out a sigh. “Forget it. She’s merely a pawn that I can easily replace. Go back to base after this.”
‘He’s back.’ Chrono thought. That was the end of the conversation. But, that small gesture was a sign that he was internally fighting his consciousness. ‘Shit. This is going to be a long night.’
The doors slid open once more. Ackerw-Levi and you were making your way back to your car. You were holding the take out while he held onto the drinks. The two men inside the car watched as the unwanted man stretched out his hand to grab the food from your arms. The car was hella tinted but he could see the small blush growing on your cheek.
Once more, Chrono wished he had some popcorn.
They observed as Levi opened your car door and handed you the food. His jaw tightened and fists clenched when he saw him entering the driver’s side. He was too engrossed that he had not noticed Mimic entering the car. Struggling in the backseat due to his size. When your car revved to life, all 3 men watched as the car left.
Starting the car, Chrono knew his boss’ mind flipped into Kai. Taking his time, he slowly drove out of the establishment.
“Follow them, Kurono.”

so... did ya’ll like today’s special guest? xD I love Levi Ackerman so I decided to just use him for the sake of drama huehuehue still :) if ya’ll have comments or questions, feel free to ask :D take care!

Two Left Feet, And One In The Mouth
Pt. 1
Lying there catching his breath seething Katsuki became suddenly aware of the feeling of melting iceberg quickly soaking his back, every drop replacing his already spread thin patients
Katsuki knew he need to hurry up and fix things with Deku, that he should go change into the spare clothes he kept in his office, that he had a much better chance of winning Deku over if he played nice with his friends, and he knew Shoto was only turning his hoodie into a impromptu sponge to piss him off and distract him from actually accomplishing any of that.
He also knew that it was fucken working.
Jumping up he felt his hoodie’s new weight pulling on him, the bastard had soaked him all the way through and the hoodie's fluffy inside was only making it worse, gross dirty floor water was fast spreading all the way down his pants and even through to his front.
Kasuki was seeing red, the only thought in his head was a vision of the Icyhot bastards head on a pike.
And that's how 15 minutes later he found himself standing in the meeting room sporting a few new bruises and dripping a puddle onto the floor, as he argued with ‘Lightning Mcqueen in glasses’ that he shouldn’t have to take the sole blame for ‘blowing up half the lobby’ or the charring on the lower branches of the lobby’s new ‘just set up yesterday, took all day to decorate, Sato ate half a snickers cheesecake just to get it in here, Tamaki and Ochako were so excited to put the star on, blah blah blah’ Christmas tree.
Those were clearly fire singe marks, not explosive blowback, and he told Mirio as much as he turned to blatantly ignore Iida. He also told him it was absolutely bullshit they had a tree up in the first week of fucken November!
Katsuki didn’t care to admit most of this blustering was to avoid admitting the main reason ‘a little bit of water set off a top ranking pro’ was because his brand Fucken new, curently one of a fucken kind, limited edition Hero Deku tee was hidden under his hoodie.
It was supposed to be part of the nerds Christmas present. His dad had just given it to him last night for a trial wear before they made the actual order to have enough made in time to be advertised and auctioned off to raise funds for the nerds favorite holiday charities.
Katsuki had planned to show up to dance practice in it after patrol and then do some photos together to boost the word about the dance and the auction.
Now not only was Deku not talking to him, but if he showed Deku this gross wrinkled mess he’d probably never speak to him again. Today officially sucked and all because ChargeDolt and RedRot couldn’t keep their fucken mouths shut... and some other things that were definitely not his fault either.
Eventually Mirio and Iida seem to tire themselves out and let the group go with a warning to expect their already packed schedules to be slammed with several hours of community service and outreach.
And of course Mirio asked Katsuki had to hang back because the universe hated him today. And of course he was given some more bad news because why would anything ever be easy?
Deku had been switched to evening patrol for today with Tokoyami, and Amajiki had agreed to take his place for the first half of the morning and Uraraka would join him after lunch
Katsuki wanted to bitch that they couldn’t reschedule because they had stupid dance practice, but between Deku not wanting to talk to him, no ‘don’t stay mad at me’ surprise, not wanting to explain to Deku what happened to the lobby, and not even a half baked explanation or apology in mind for why he said what he did Katsuki just grunted his acknowledgement and went to change into his costume. If anything he was getting off easier like this. At least Amajiki was on of the few extras he could stand.
_______________________________________________
If Mirios plan for punishment was to guilt him to the core by saddling him with a semi sulking SunEater, then he was an evil genius. Cause it was working, Katsuki hadn’t felt this all around ashamed since.… well probably only like a year but still.
Amajiki was one of the few people who Katsuki actually respected as a hero and a person, not only did the fellow pro have a kick ass quirk that he used creatively but Katsuki had grown to (begrudgingly) admire the hero for how up front he was with his anxiety and how hard he worked through it. It kinda reminded him of Deku and his oddballness and how the nerd used it to his advantage to become the symbol of hope.
Katsuki had been expecting a half mumbled lecture and a maybe even prodding about therapy. The nervous nellies' unusually strong(for them) vendetta with the hero world was it's slacking in mental healthcare or whatever.
So after struggling through about four hours of sullen silence, (that was also infuriatingly familiar, apparently heroing wasn’t all the nerd had learn from his senpais), Katsuki snapped with a screech like an overly taunt fiddle string.
“I’m sorry about the fucken tree! If it’s not replaced by the time we get back I’ll do it my goddamn self, happy?!” Katsuki had been expecting Tamki to give a quiet nod or retreat into himself more, depending on how he took his offer. He definitely didn’t expect to be glared at
“You think I’m upset about the tree?” Amajiki tilted his head in confusion. Maybe they should talk about Katsuki seeing the team's therapist more. Monthly was the minimum everyone on the newly forged Heros Union of Honor had to attend but Katsuki was clearly needing more support right now. Maybe it was the holidays? A good portion of them were going biweekly now for that reason.
HUH was more than an agency. It was a newly emerging code of ethics board. You were expected to be worth the honor of being called a hero when partnered with HUH, and that meant getting your mental health to its peak was a priority.
That didn’t mean everyone (or really anyone) was perfectly mentally fit, just that mental health was a priority. Other agencies had taken notice of how differently they operated even within their first year, and since then a few had even sent their heroes through the HUH program to learn how to operate more like them. They were quickly taking up the void the Hero's Commission had left.
“I’m not upset about the tree, I’m upset because you hurt my friends and fellow hero partners-“ Amajiki was rudely cut off as he caught a gauntlet to the chest, thank god they’d gotten smaller over the years.
“He’s your business partner, he’s MY hero partner, has been since before we agreed to join this agency.” Katsuki thundered.
Why everyone on the board had to call each other partners was something Katsuki didn’t understand, but he refused to let them slip up and start tossing around the phrase Hero Partner. They were all business partners, something anyone could become. A Hero Partner was a major commitment, and Katsuki had the signed legal waivers to prove it.
Amajiki stopped and looked at Katsuki fully, really taking in his teammates' rattled appearance.
Katsuki had been doing well, dare say even flourishing within HUH, so today’s outbreak was nearly out of character at this point and still Katsuki didn’t appear to be calming down any. If anything he was only growing more tightly wound.
Yes, Amajiki was upset with Katsuki but he’d remained silent during their patrol more so the blonde could have some time to think, but it didn’t seem to have done him any good. Amajiki fought through the nervousness that crawled under his skin and begged him to just let the explosive guy be.
Mirio had asked him to talk with Katsuki, under some false impression that Katsuki respected him more, but before this moment he’d figured it was better to not butt in. He hadn’t been around when this morning’s incident happened but he could see another one brewing.
Amajiki shuffled side to side for a second considering his options. He could just send Katsuki home early, even put him on leave until he got cleared by the teams therapist. Or he could do what Mirio suggested and reach out to a struggling teammate.
Therapy was good, but therapy with a support network was better.
“GroundZero, let’s take lunch. I think we need to have a talk-“ Amajiki put up a slightly trembling hand to silence the blonde. Straightening his back and furthering his resolve he pushed forward. “-This isn’t really optional, we neeeed to have a talk, and about more than this morning's incident. I wanna talk about your hero partner.”
Katsuki’s argument died on his tongue.  He shoved his hands in his pockets with a grunt and jerked his head to signal to Amajiki to take the lead.
Katsuki knew he wasn’t gonna like what came next but he tried to reminded himself that he trusted and respected Amajiki, and that meant hearing him out when asked. It’s what Deku would do, so it’s what Katsuki would try to do.

forever and never: Chapter 13
November 4th, 2007.
“Welcome to Sunday Night Football! The Dallas Cowboys take on the Philadelphia Eagles...”
The lights in the sports bar had dimmed for the night game, which was being broadcast from the three large projector screens at the front of the dining area. The commentator gave his pre-game introduction as I settled excitedly in my chair at the table.
My favorite team was about to play...and she was coming.
She had just gotten back from her weekend trip to a college football game, and she wanted to see me. I told her my whereabouts, and she was en route. She even had arranged it so that a fellow couple from the daycare center would meet us there, as the husband of the other couple was a trash-talking Eagles fan who loved to mock my Dallas Cowboys fanship.
But his opportunity to taunt me served only as a pawn in a larger game he didn’t know was being played.
The other couple would give us our perfect cover from curious eyes. Janie and I would be just two friends, meeting up with some other people to watch a football game in a public setting.
But the game itself was the furthest thing from my mind. The only thought that highlighted the evening was our first kiss, which had occurred 3 days earlier.
She appeared in the doorway a short time later, looking for me. The buzz and conversation around the bar went on normally, the patrons guzzling their beers and unaware of the forbidden scandal playing out between two people before their very eyes.
I caught her eye and waved her over, and she sat down in the seat next to me.
What now? It’s not like we were an item, or in an official relationship.
Our exchange of small words was interrupted by the arrival of the other couple, and the stage was set.
Regardless of the occasion and company, we were where both of us seemingly wanted to be...together.
It’s what made me think this was genuine. Her efforts to see me, even under the most mundane circumstances, are what made me believe I was the exception.
Her “Happily Ever After”.
Her “Forever and Ever”.
The game began, animated conversation ensued, and what seemed like a year of fateful good luck continued as my Cowboys beat the living hell out of his Eagles, effectively silencing him.
Victory was sweet.
The game ended too soon, and the other couple bid their farewell. Janie and I sat at the table after their departure, continuing our conversation.
“I couldn’t get you out of my mind all weekend,” she admitted.
The bar closed, and we went and sat in her van, as we weren’t ready to go home yet.
She turned on her radio, and the CD in her changer started playing.
Hinder’s “Extreme Behavior”, an album by a popular rock band that would play as the soundtrack to that entire stage of our relationship. Years later, I look back on how appropriately the album was titled.
“Lips of an Angel” hummed from the speakers as our lips found eachother once again...
...”And I never want to say goodbye, but girl you make it hard to be faithful, with the lips of an angel”...
November 4th, 2012.
5 Years Later.
“Welcome to Sunday Night Football! The Dallas Cowboys take on the Atlanta Falcons...”
I settled onto the couch, placing my cold beverage on the coffee table in front of me. I laid my lifeless cell phone beside my cup.
Janie was laying on the love seat a few feet from me, her phone tucked under her leg as she snoozed.
The face under my skin, the voice in the back of my mind spoke to me...urging me that this wasn’t normal behavior...
But I shook it off. After all that had happened...
...all the fights, the men, and the questions, this was my last stand.
This was my last chance to trust her. If I couldn’t trust the location of her cell phone, then I couldn’t trust anything.
The game started, and though the action and cheers on the television were non-stop, our living room was quiet, save for my occasional curse word.
The game drug on, and as the fourth quarter got underway, it became clear that I was watching my team’s loss in progress.
In a year of what was seemingly fateful, endless bad luck, Dallas lost 19-13.
The game wasn’t over quite yet, but I angrily shut the TV off. I had to work in the morning, and I wasn’t going to lose anymore sleep over this game.
“I’ve seen this story before,” I said, my finger angrily pressing the OFF button on the remote.
Janie’s eyes shot open, awakened from her slumber by my words.
“Whatever, Ekim,” she said, grabbing her phone from under her leg and standing up before marching towards the staircase.
“What’s your problem?” I asked, dumbfounded by her reaction.
Apparently, she thought my words were directed towards something else.
Could have been a guilty conscience. What else would she think “I’ve seen this story before” meant?
The sad thing is, we indeed had seen this story before. Too many times.
I stood downstairs in silence, hearing her move around and then get into bed.
Unconcerned.
Not giving a single shit I didn’t follow her up that staircase.
My temper soared. I reached another boiling point.
Treat me like this, huh? I’m this disposable, right? You’re invincible, correct?
I marched up the stairs and walked to our bedroom doorway, observing her get comfortable and curl up under the covers.
“You just think you’re hot shit, don’t you?” I fired.
“Whatever, Ekim. Just come to bed,” she said dully.
We exchanged some more words, and I spilled what was on my mind.
“All I want is you,” she said.
Following this fight, we made love, but neither of us knew it would be for the final time.
Few people ever know when it’s the last time for anything.
The next day, I woke up early and went to work, and throughout the morning, I was encouraged by normal, jovial rounds of text exchanges with Janie.
By mid-morning, they stopped.
And for the next few hours, it was complete silence.
I went about my day, unable to focus on anything but her silence.
She still worked in the same building as Steppenwolf...
After work, she finally contacted me and I felt instant relief.
“Sorry, busy day,” she said shortly.
“Did you want me to pick up a pizza?” I asked her.
“...what are we doing, Ekim?” she asked.
“What do you mean?” I asked.
“All we do is fight,” she said.
“Janie, don’t start this shit with me,” I shot.
An argument instantly erupted, and I couldn’t help but notice that she was trying to cut me short and get off the phone.
“Why are you trying to get off the phone so fast?” I asked.
“Because I stopped for gas and I have to use the bathroom, is that OK with you?” she asked savagely.
“Fine,” I said.
“Do you want me to call you right back?” she asked.
“Whatever,” I replied.
But that call didn’t come. I arrived home, and I determined that this was no good anymore...or at least I thought I had.
Packing my things was more for presentation for her to walk through the door and see how serious I was. But was I?
If I wasn’t, it was about to get serious real quick.
More sadly yet, there wasn’t much for me to pack. Just some clothes and small belongings, as I had left the majority of it in my storage and at my grandma’s house.
The safe zones.
Janie arrived home soon after, and watched me condescendingly as I packed up my things and put them in my car.
She was flawless at making me feel like this was all my fault, and I was the one leaving.
But she wasn’t backing down. In fact, she marched upstairs and packed a bag of her own.
Gym clothes, and a bottle of vodka.
She walked out the front door, and this was my last stand.
I followed her across the street to her mom’s house.
Just like I had done so many times before, in the bad times and the good.
“Leave me alone, Ekim.”
“Tell me it’s over,” I said.
“What?”
“I won’t end this until you tell me it’s over,” I said.
“Ok, Ekim. It’s over,” she said, not bothering to look back at me as she continued walking through her mom’s backyard.
But I needed more. I needed a whole lot more to end this.
5 Years...could a simple declaration just end that?
I continued following her as we made our way up the steps to her mom’s back deck.
“Tell me you’re done,” I begged.
“Why?” she asked angrily, turning around to face me.
Her husband. My wife. A union in splinters.
“Because I can’t walk away until I know you’re done,” I said, my eyes welling with tears.
Inside her mother’s house, everything was normal and happy conversations could be heard.
Outside on that wooden deck in the cold November sunset, there was an emptiness.
“Ok Ekim, I’m done,” she said emphatically, looking into my eyes.
“Are you sure?” I asked.
“Yes. I’m. Done.”
She walked inside the sliding glass door and shut it behind her.
I stood there for a moment, soaking in the finality.
Tonight, there would be no pestering her. No knocking on the back door, pawing at it like a stray no one wanted.
This was my apocalypse, and I was standing in the middle of it.
I slowly walked off the back deck and back across the street to our empty home.
A home that held secrets. A home that would thrive without me.
A home that was no longer mine.
I finished packing, and as I was loading my final things in the car, Janie emerged from the darkness and walked inside the house.
I shut my car door and walked inside the house, the ghost of hope slightly rising in my chest.
My last stand.
Janie stood there, leaning up against the living room wall as she looked around wistfully, completely silent.
I was silent too, but I couldn’t help myself.
I walked toward her and reached out to hug her.
I wanted to hold her. I wanted to be those two people again who did everything they could to be together.
Sports bars. Stores. Hidden parks. Her van, listening to Hinder.
Anything to be together.
I reached out to embrace her, and she ducked under my left arm and marched to the staircase.
She trotted up the stairs, and on instinct, I went to follow her.
I put one foot on the bottom stair.
SNAP.
I felt it. It wasn’t physical whatsoever, but I felt it nonetheless.
I broke.
My resolve to fight for her snapped in two.
I stood there, in complete silence, staring up the stairs.
Silence.
Deafening silence.
Except for one single thought that verbalized itself in my head.
“It’s time. You’re done.”
I turned around slowly and walked out the front door.
I walked to my car in complete defeat, understanding for the first time in years what was happening inside of me.
I reached my limit. It was time to go.
As I sat in my car and turned the key, the bright lights of my dashboard lit up my car’s interior. But something else caught my eye.
Janie had stepped out onto the front porch. She stared at me, her arms crossed, and her face without emotion.
But there was no looking back. No turning back.
My engine roared to life.
I put the car in DRIVE and put my foot on the gas.
I was going home, where there’d be no more hurt.
No more abuse. No more confusion. No more pain.
Not like this.
That night, I slept soundly for the first time in months.
Alone.
And safe.
The next day, a co-worker gave me a ride back to Janie’s house where I picked up my Lancer.
I thanked him and got behind the wheel.
I turned on the ignition.
Gas Tank on E.
Stopped for gas and had to use the bathroom, huh?
There was paperwork that needed to be filed.
The games were far from over.
“There's nothing you can say Nothing you can do There's nothing in between, You know the truth.
Nothing left to face There's nothing left to lose, Nothing takes your place.
When they say You're not that strong You're not that weak It's not your fault And when you climb up to your hill Up to your place I hope you're well.”

“Did you all enjoy Lord Merek’s Revolution day speech? It was quite rousing am I right?” Holding the mic out to the crowd “That’s what I thought! Now, while we’re on the subject we should take a moment to thank all the Union workers for everything they’ve been doing! We couldn’t build all those shelters, and kitchens without them!” Letting the crowd cheer yet again.
Tumblr media
“Remember, if you’re out there in need of help you can always turn to one of our many facilities! We’re always there for you, even when you don’t believe anyone else is!” Finally taking a seat, and smiling at the crowd. “And if you don’t believe me, just ask anyone here! They’ll tell you that Lord Merek accepts everyone with open arms!”
“So let’s talk about everyone’s favorite sport. You all been catching those Hecaball games?” Of course getting a loud reaction. “Course, stupid question right? How about those Solis Scarabs? Lord Merek sure did a fantastic job putting a team together! Lady Auburn is going to take us right to the league championship! Can I get a round of applause for Lady Auburn and the rest of the Scarabs?” Holding the mic out again. “That’s what I’m talking about!”
Tumblr media
“Did you know, everyone on the team was personally selected by Lord Merek? He saw that potential! He saw what they were capable of, and he KNEW they were destined for greatness! Lord Merek’s words inspired them and those words allow them to play better than they ever thought possible! The Scarabs are going to be the first team in Hecaball league history to bring home the championship in their debut year!”
“I know what you’re all thinking. “How can I feel empowered like that?” Well my friends all you have to do is look to Lord Merek, and let him in!” Waving out at the cheering crowd. “Lord Merek will show you the truth, help you discard the past, embrace your true potential, and shine like never before!”

Little Giants
After the success from the boys of the volleyball team, it’s time for the girls’ soccer team to take the spotlight and march their way to victory.
Under the command of Aiya Takahashi, this team will go through challenges, adventures, struggles and joy together. After all, the union leads to strength.
---
Tumblr media
---
It was early in the morning back in Miyagi. The birds were the first annoying little creatures that marked their position as soon as the first rays of sunshine peek through the tree branches. But, just like those annoying little creatures, Takahashi was up as early as she could, getting ready for the day.
The young soccer coach of the Karasuno’s high school girls’ team put on the usual track suit that would be a pair of black shorts and an orange t-shirt, covered by the team’s jacket. The hair was pulled back and partially tied in a small bun, allowing the view of the couple of earrings that dangled back and forth.
The old schoolbag was still the only one used by the coach to keep the food for the day as some cereal bars that would be given to the team as a reward for their hard work. The backpack still had some autographs from the old volleyball teams, the old friends. Ukai, Akiteru even Tenma had his name in that old bag. That was honestly the coach’s favorite possession.
Walking to the high school wasn’t the best idea so early in the morning, so the old bike would be the mean of transportation for Takahashi. The peddling was very constant for a while, but it didn’t take long for the coach to realize that on the other side of the street there was another young boy, with bright ginger hair, almost as bright as the Sun, speeding himself to get to his destination almost like he was competing with the coach. Takahashi simply smiled and fastened the pace, increasing the bike’s velocity, carefully dodging every little rock that would make the coach fall to a very bad landing. However, poor ginger boy didn’t have the same luck. The acceleration made him almost fly out of his bike and land with delicate face on the gravel floor.
Takahashi got out of the bike and ran to his aid, checking for any bruises or broken bones. Nothing. The coach sighed in relief and helped the boy up, giving him a firm handshake as he stood firmly on his feet. The comparison with the bright Sun only became stronger to the coach when the young boy smiled and thanked for the help.
“The name’s Shoyo Hinata, I go to the Karasuno High School as well…” he quickly introduced himself, proudly pointing at the coach’s jacket. “Are you a third year or something? I think I know you from somewhere…”
“Let’s say I was a third year once, I’m a coach for the girls soccer team. Aiya Takahashi, pleasure to meet you, Hinata! I heard a lot about you! Takeda-sensei won’t stop mentioning your jumps and spikes!” She introduced herself as well, proudly speaking about the boy’s talents as well.
She could see Hinata’s bright flustered face clearly thanks to the compliment. Sure, he tried to brush it off, but Takahashi knew that he was purely happy for that achievement.
“As far as I know, you can become Karasuno’s new Tenma, I mean, Little Giant! Sorry, old friends with him!” She smiled and gently scratched the back of her head. “He used to work very hard just like you. However, don’t forget to rest and take care of yourself. Plus, you also have school so…” Interrupted by Hinata’s puppy energy.
“You really knew the Little Giant? How did you meet him? Was he as cool as he was on the court?” He bombarded the coach with a whole list of questions about his inspiration. She couldn’t help but smile at the boy’s happiness and specially couldn’t say no to it.
“Well, I used to be part of the old soccer team and was also the manager of the old volleyball team. I met him there. And yes, he was cool. Once of the coolest. Just like Tsukishima, well, at least when he showed up...” she sighed with the last memory from her old classmate. The ginger looked at her confused.
“Tsukishima goes to practice every time, even though he says, “it’s just a club and it doesn’t matter”. He is weird! I really don’t get him. Plus, he is like super smart and super rude!” Hinata explains to the young coach about his teammate and classmate. You could feel the annoyance irradiating from his small body.
“Oh, yeah Kei is pretty much like that, but I mean his brother! Akiteru was an amazing volleyball player, but he simply gave up at some point and joined me and Tanaka in the cheer.” The coach tried her best to explain. “Just please don’t tell Kei about his brother, it makes him moody and, well, weirder than what he already is…”
The young decoy looked at her confused again and asked who Tanaka was, realizing it was not the teammate. Takahashi spent the whole way to the high school explaining and introducing the old crew to the young boy. Surprisingly, a good time. They laughed a lot until they reached the high school’s gates.
The young coach wished Hinata a good day, messing his hair a little more. Unlike many others, Hinata smiled with the soft touch from her hand and gave her an unexpected fist bump. Takahashi then headed to the soccer field and got some smaller fields ready for practice later that day. While waiting for the time to pass, the coach decided to practice herself, some tricks and passes. Some of them made young students stop their track and watch the show she was giving, and others simply kept walking, commenting either some words of envy or the kindest of all compliments to the coach.
Between all the show watchers, a special one decided to make all the students get to class. He shoved some and pushed others until the outside was clear from students. The blonde-haired man looked at the young coach with a raised eyebrow. Takahashi finally noticed the silence as she stopped kicking the ball around, finally noticing the fellow coach.
“You really like to show off, don’t you?” Ukai asked with an annoyed expression written all over his face.
“Are you still jealous of the fact that your grandfather liked me more than you?” Takahashi smirked proudly, kicking the ball up to land on her hands. “Or, perhaps, you are jealous that still master my sports and you don’t?”
“Oh please! First of all, the old fart likes everyone more than me, so jokes on you that doesn’t affect me!” He complained loudly enough for the coach to hear him. “Second, I’m a coach just like you, don’t tell me I don’t master my sports, missy! Third, I’m older than you, so respect your elders!” He almost yelled at her, giving her the biggest smile ever of pure amusement.
Takahashi, as a team manager would learn from the old coach Ukai the basics of volleyball so she could later help not only the team but the coach himself. That led to a lot of her time training both soccer and volleyball and time with the two Ukais. Consequently, Takahashi became friends of some sort with younger Keisshin, since the two of them would spend full afternoons together with his grandfather.
“Oh, my apologies, senpai! I won’t do it again, at least I’ll try.” She smirked once again. “What are you doing here so early anyways? Your practice is only at night. Late afternoon?” She tried to guess the time of practice, knowing that she was close. “Actually, what are you doing here in specific? This isn’t a volleyball court coach. Plus, you can’t play soccer as far as I know.”
“The old fart wanted you to visit him, ask you how’s your team and how are the boys from my team. Seriously, sometimes I really think he doesn’t give to shits about my capabilities.” Ukai sighed as he entered the filed looking around. He feels slightly overwhelmed with the view. A volleyball court is big, but nothing compared to the soccer field. And it all looked even more surreal when the girl in front of him just speeded herself from one end to another in the matter of some seconds. “But what does he know? Anyways, you wanna join?”
“Sounds awesome, the old fart-” she decided to emphasize the nickname given by the other coach, “needs some company as well. Training little brats all day sounds exhausting, he deserves a break.”
That choice of words came out misunderstood to the blonde man, which made him pout in annoyance and calling Takahashi a brat. It took a while for the girl to remind him that his grandfather taught volleyball to young children, leading to very flustered face from Ukai’s side.
“You’re such an idiot! I swear, your thick skull really doesn’t learn…” She sighed and kicked the ball over his head, rushing towards it and making a whole new set of tricks, spins and slides that eventually lead to the main kick towards the goal.
“Stop calling me stupid, you dumbass! It’s not like you were the best student either!” He yelled all angry and pissed at the younger coach. “Ugh, you’re so annoying, I don’t understand how your team doesn’t get tired of you…” He commented with a comment that he knew would get to Aiya’s nerves easily.
A gleeful voice was heard complimenting Takahashi’s talents not far from the two coaches. Two girls, a short girl with a rather light brown hair and bright green eyes, with some bright green highlights all over her hair, tucked in two high pig tails, and a taller one, with a beautiful dark skin that shone under the rays of sun, her curly bouncy hair was tied in a small bun like the one the coach had, leaving some curls underneath the bun, loose. Both were wearing the team’s uniform and held the schoolbag on their side.
Hearing those compliments from them made Takahashi turn to Ukai with a mischievous smirk of pride and victory over his words. He simply huffed and stepped out of the field, wishing them a good practice and warning Takahashi to not be late to the visit later. She just chuckled and waved sarcastically, noticing the nasty gesture he pointed at her.
“And that’s how you shut a smart mouth!” The short girl smirked looking up at her coach and folded her arms over the chest. “I’m starting to think you like him, coach Takahashi…” She looked over at the other girl with the same mischievous smile.
“Yeah, either that or they wanna destroy each other. Then again love and hate walk together down the road, coach, I would be careful with that heart of yours if I were you.” The curly haired girl said smiling towards the coach waiting for a smart response from her.
“Who are you two to teach me about love and hate? I’m the one who’s a coach here! Now, go settle down your stuff and get your butts back in here for practice!” Takahashi ordered a little angry with the way they were teasing her. She was used to the playful words from the two second years, so she didn’t pay much attention at some point.
As they returned, Hana, the smallest girl, picked the ball and started guiding it around the field, training the control and some tricks along the way. She was far too smart when it came to sports, so Aiya would let her practice on her own while the rest of the team arrived and got ready. On the other hand, Yoko, the one with bouncy curls, was practicing her defending skills as a goalkeeper with the coach. Takahashi would give her some tips on how to control the time for her defense.
Later, the captain of the team arrived, the third year, Kiko Watanabe. The team would call her Kiko more often since they had this god-like trust on her and she was born in another country so they would use her first name more often than the last like it was usual. Kiko was born in Brazil, so the love for soccer was introduced to her almost since birth.
The captain greeted the coach and the two teammates before getting to the changing room. She tied her long thick hair in a high ponytail and got all the equipment carefully attached to her limbs. As soon as Kiko got back in the field, everyone greeted her warmly and with bright smiles. The young captain asked the practice program for the day and offered herself to help the other players while the coach trained the goalkeepers.
The practice was divided in warmups around the field and a little bit of running as well, just to make the legs work a little faster with the ice-cold wind that would freeze their legs. It felt so painful in the beginning, like the legs were stuck in one position and couldn’t move for a good 5-minute time. After the warmup, the team would be separated, goalkeepers from other players. The goalkeepers would do speed and reflex practice, to master their skills and adapt them to different situations, either distanced kicks or closer ones, faster or slower players, among other situations. It was almost like a challenge to them every practice, but after a game all the hard work was rewarding. For the final part of practice, the team would be divided in two in order to make a small game. Takahashi would often make the first years with little experience face the second and third years, so they could have a notion of how difficult it is to play against their own team, so consequently they would know that playing against other teams would be 10 times worst.
The coach was truly competitive, sometimes too much. Kiko would often tell her to calm down and that everything would be okay in the end of the game. Takahashi knew that, of course, she taught them all she knew after all. She had this blind trust on those girls, but sometimes, the nerves took over her body and there was nothing that could hold her back.
“Coach, I have good news!” A male voice was heard from behind Takahashi. That would be Kenta Satoshi, a third year that had the role of team manager. He would try to contact with other teams from around the country in hopes they could get practice games, just like other teams in Karasuno would do. “The girls from Date Tech accepted our practice game challenge!” He completed the information with a huge amount of excitement irradiating from his body. He was still as excited as he was in the first year, which made Aiya quite happy.
“Fantastic, what about the princesses from Aoba Johsai, did they reply to the invitation?” Takahashi asked curious. She missed the first-year rivalry between Hana and her cousin. It was almost like an action movie between two little girls, trying to prove their best and show everyone else on the field who’s the boss. Besides that, Seijoh was one of the strongest teams in the whole country, leading most of their players to the national teams.
“Yeah, they will be there as well. Almost every high school from the prefecture will be there, in fact. It’ll be quite the show actually!” He affirmed looking at the list of notes and things to do as manager. “By the way, I would like to ask if my little sister can replace me one day. The swimming competition will be at the same time as practice next Thursday and I can’t miss.”
Takahashi simply answered that it’s all okay, if the young girl is ready to help the team like he does. Of course, Kenta defended his sister’s capabilities and assured the coach that he had everything under control. His big self-esteem even led him to promise to bring home the gold, as a reward for everything that was taught to him as well as every favor and friendship.
Satoshi talked like every third year in their last competition. They always promise to bring home the gold. The trophy. The price. They always promise that, but Takahashi knew that only the strong reached victory. Back in her days, she wasn’t strong enough to bring the gold to Karasuno, ending in fourth place in the national soccer championship. But, however, she knew that the fight wasn’t done. It wouldn’t be the last time that the championship would hear the name Aiya Takahashi. That was her promise.
The practice was over. The girls gathered around Takahashi to hear the news about the future games in the Date Tech gym and asked them to get the permissions to go. She looked at the second years that would have a test that week and wished them best of luck and even offered them some notes from her old classes, corrected by Takeda himself so they could study together and get the best grade possible. To the first years that joined that year, she was finally able to reward them with the team’s uniform. They were clearly excited to finally be part of a team like that, where their talents would finally be appreciated. Being a girl in soccer is being constantly underrated, which made Takahashi work harder to hype those girls to do their best always. No matter who they are facing, who is watching or who is hating on them. They would always be her girls, no matter what. That unconditional support was not only given by the coach, but also the third years, who assure the young ones as much as they could. Especially their captain. The third years thanked the coach for the practice and helped gather the material before leaving for the other classes.
Kiko, Kenta and the other third years offered to buy the younger players some treats in order to welcome them to the team and make sure they feel welcomed, as well as motivate the second years to give their best as per usual. That was a tradition since the beginning, which increased their connection a lot. In return, the first and second years wouldn’t only give their best, but also give small gifts to their senpais before big competitions or big occasions.
Takahashi wasn’t surprised by their companionship after seeing that happen in front of her eyes.
The young captain headed towards the classroom, but was quickly stopped by Hana and Yoko, the two of them looking clearly worried. The second years knew how intelligent their captain was, knowing as well how her kindness controlled her actions. So, before any difficult test they would rush to Kiko for help, always with the same desperate look on their faces. Sometimes they didn’t even need to say anything, Kiko would just set a time and place to meet them and ask them to bring the books, notes and notebooks, if needed.
“Let me guess, study date?” The captain asked, visibly amused with their expressions. She chuckled softly allowing the entrance of other students in the classroom. The girl grabbed two little cards to offer the two girls with her address and phone. “Call me two hours before arriving, please. I’ll get my room ready to help you out. Also,” she said fixing her uniform and bag, “you literally have Ennoshita in your class. He’s a very smart boy and would be more than welcome to give you some help as well.”
“She’s right, he is more than welcome to help!” One of Kiko’s classmates, Daichi Sawamura himself, responded, right before walking in the classroom. His voice not only made Kiko jump with the sudden appearance but also blush like a little girl in love. “Now, excuse us, girls, but we have a class to attend and so do you…” He spoke with his usual serenity.
“Ugh, always a dad, Sawamura-san…” Hana spoke with a smirk on her face. The little girl thanked her captain for the help. “Take care of our captain, Sawamura-san! We’ll take care of Noya-kun!” She joked to the much taller boy in front of her, making him chuckle softly, saluting them almost as a thank you. After all, he knew better than most how hard it was to handle Nishinoya.
“Sorry about them, Sawamura-san…” Kiko excused her teammates behaviour, making Daichi reply that his team was pretty much the same. He was used to the joke being used towards him and admitted that sometimes it did feel like that. The girl chuckled softly and offered him to walk in first, but it ended the other way around. Both sat in their assigned places and waited for the teacher to arrive and for the class to begin.

WILDCAT
December 17, 1960
Tumblr media
Wildcat is a musical comedy about Wildcat Jackson and her sister who come to oil country in 1912 to strike it rich. She runs into the prowess of Joe Dynamite, and a battle of the sexes and the oil tycoons ensues.
Tumblr media
Wildcat wasn’t written with the 48 year-old queen of comedy in mind so when she showed interest, the script by N. Richard Nash had to be radically re-written.
Tumblr media
At the start of the 1960’s Ball’s career was taking a new direction. She was leaving her TV personae Lucy Ricardo (as well as her real-life husband Desi Arnaz) behind for newer horizons. It was their company Desilu that would produce Wildcat with Lucy having say over who would be cast as her co-star. After several of her first choices proved not available (including Clint Eastwood), she settled on Keith Andes.
Tumblr media
Although Ball was not known for her singing (a fact she traded on in “I Love Lucy”) or her dancing (which she was far better at), she had the determination of Wildcat Jackson to attempt it eight times a week.
Tumblr media
Director and choreographer Michael Kidd – known for his athletic dances – would put Ball through her paces. The score was by Cy Coleman with lyrics by Carolyn Leigh, giving Ball the rousing anthem “Hey, Look Me Over!” and the tuneful “What Takes My Fancy.”
Tumblr media
The out-of-town critics were mixed, but obviously adored the red-headed star. The show was headed up the New Jersey Turnpike in trucks headed for Broadway when a serious blizzard stranded the caravan, causing the opening night to be delayed.
Tumblr media
With just two previews under their belt, the show opened at the Alvin Theatre (now the Neil Simon) on December 17, 1960. Box office sales were buoyed by audiences expecting to see Lucy Ricardo, not Lucille Ball as Wildy Jackson, so eventually Ball interpolated more and more of her trademark comic inflections into her character.
Tumblr media
Then Ball took ill. She left the show for a bit with the idea to return and continue the run. But upon her return she collapsed on stage. Producers decided to close the show for as long as it took her to recover and resume when her strength and health had returned. But the musicians union insisted upon payment during the hiatus, which made the wait financially unfeasible.
Tumblr media
All in all, Wildcat lasted 171 performances. It wasn’t Ball’s only musical, however. In 1974 she took on the title role in the film of Mame with mixed to poor critical reactions.

"Then I go to New York with the two children, my mother and two maids. We have a seven-room apartment on 69th Street at Lexington. I’ll start rehearsals right away for a Broadway show, 'Wildcat.’ It’s a comedy with music, not a musical comedy, but the music is important. I play a girl wildcatter in the Southwestern oil fields around the turn of the century. It was written by N. Richard Nash, who wrote 'The Rainmaker.’ He is co-producer with Michael Kidd, the director. We’re still looking for a leading man. I want an unknown. He has to be big, husky, around 40. He has to be able to throw me around, and I’m a pretty big girl. He has to be able to sing, at least a little. I have to sing, too. It’s pretty bad. When I practice, I hold my hands over my ears. We open out of town - I don’t know where - and come to New York in December.”  ~ Lucille Ball,  TV Guide, July 16, 1960

THE CAST
Tumblr media
Lucille Ball (Wildcat Jackson) was born on August 6, 1911 in Jamestown, New York. She began her screen career in 1933 and was known in Hollywood as ‘Queen of the B’s’ due to her many appearances in ‘B’ movies. With Richard Denning, she starred in a radio program titled “My Favorite Husband” which eventually led to the creation of “I Love Lucy,” a television situation comedy in which she co-starred with her real-life husband, Latin bandleader Desi Arnaz. The program was phenomenally successful, allowing the couple to purchase what was once RKO Studios, re-naming it Desilu. When the show ended in 1960 (in an hour-long format known as “The Lucy-Desi Comedy Hour”) so did Lucy and Desi’s marriage. In 1962, hoping to keep Desilu financially solvent, Lucy returned to the sitcom format with “The Lucy Show,” which lasted six seasons. She followed that with a similar sitcom “Here’s Lucy” co-starring with her real-life children, Lucie and Desi Jr., as well as Gale Gordon, who had joined the cast of “The Lucy Show” during season two. Before her death in 1989, Lucy made one more attempt at a sitcom with “Life With Lucy,” also with Gordon, which was not a success and was canceled after just 13 episodes.

Keith Andes (Joe Dynamite) was born John Charles Andes in Ocean City, New Jersey, in 1920. Andes played Lucy Carmichael’s boyfriend Bill King on “The Lucy Show” in “Lucy Goes Duck Hunting” (TLS S2;E6) and “Lucy and the Winter Sports” (TLS S3;E3) and played Brad Collins in “Lucy and Joan” (S4;E4) co-starring Joan Blondell.  Andes took his own life in 2005 after being diagnosed with terminal cancer.
Valerie Harper (Dancer, right) became one of television’s most recognizable stars as “Rhoda” (1974-78) a spin-off of “The Mary Tyler Moore Show.” She appeared in  at “Kennedy Center Presents” honoring Lucy in 1986. She died in August 2019 after a long battle with brain cancer.

Paula Stewart (Janie) appears in the fourth of her six Broadway musicals between 1951 and 1965.  Her only series television appearance opposite Lucille Ball was in “Lucy and Harry’s Tonsils” (HL S2;E5) in 1969. In 2017, she published a memoir titled Lucy Loved Me, about her friendship with Lucille Ball.
Hal Linden (Matt, replacement) became one of television’s most recognizable stars as “Barney Miller” (1974-82). He appeared at an “All-Star Party for Lucille Ball” in 1984 and at “Kennedy Center Presents” honoring Lucy in 1986.

MRS. MORTON

Lucy met Gary Morton while doing Wildcat on Broadway. She put off their first date due to her rigorous performance schedule. Eventually, he showed up with a pizza just when Lucy was craving one. They married on November 19, 1961.
Tumblr media
Comic Jack Carter served as best man at Lucy and Gary’s wedding in 1961.  A few weeks later he married Paula Stewart, who played Lucy’s sister Janie in Wildcat. He acted in “Lucy Sues Mooney” (TLS S6;E12).
“HEY LOOK ME OVER!”
Tumblr media
On June 4, 1976 Lucille is joined by Valerie Harper and Dinah Shore on “Dinah!” to sing her signature song from Wildcat, “Hey, Look Me Over.”
Tumblr media
When Lucille Ball was celebrated at “The Kennedy Center Honors” in December 1986, Valerie Harper, Beatrice Arthur, and Pam Dawber sang a song parody of the “I Love Lucy” theme expressing their affection for Lucy. The medley ends with a specially-tailored “Hey Look Me Over”.
Tumblr media
In “Lucy and Carol Burnett: Part 2″ (TLS S6;E15) on December 11, 1967, Lucy, Carol, and the ensemble perform “Hey, Look Me Over” with specially written lyrics to suit the episode’s theme of air travel.

While David Frost is trying to sleep during a transatlantic flight, Lucy wears her headset and hums along to “Hey Look Me Over” while tapping it out on the glasses with her cutlery.  The scene is from “Lucy Helps David Frost Go Night-Night” (HL S4;E12) aired on November 12, 1971.

In “Lucy and Petula Clark” (HL S5;E8) in 1972, Lucy Carter leaves the office singing “Hey Look Me Over.”
Tumblr media
On “Life With Lucy,” Lucy’s grandson Kevin plays on the YMCA soccer team The Wildcats. The name of the team is probably a reference to Lucille Ball’s only Broadway show.
Tumblr media
In the second scene of “Breaking Up Is Hard To Do” (1986), an un-aired episode of “Life With Lucy”, Lucy comes down the stairs of the living room singing “Hey Look Me Over.”
WILDCAT WILDCARDS
Tumblr media
In April 1961, Lucille Ball played softball in Central Park for the Broadway Show League when she was appearing in Wildcat. Julie Andrews (starring in Camelot) was the catcher!  The catcher was Joe E. Brown.
Tumblr media
In the play Love! Valour! Compassion! Buzz, a gay musical theater aficionado (Nathan Lane on Broadway) breaks the fourth wall (a common conceit of the play) to tell the audience something personal about himself.
Tumblr media
The song title was also the title of a 2018 revue about rarely produced musicals at City Center in New York City.  Performer Carolee Carmello called it her “hair homage to Lucille Ball.”
