Cat toy won by a pretty good margin, so tomorrow there will be a little novelty cat toy in the garden!
So that means...

PORTAL 2 PROMPTS *  assorted dialogue from the 2011 video game, adjust as necessary
when life gives you lemons, don't make lemonade! make life take the lemons back! get mad! i don't want your damn lemons!
best case scenario, you might get some superpowers. worst case, some tumors.
science isn't about why. it's about why not.
the next test is very dangerous.
before the wright brothers invented the airplane, anyone wanting to fly everywhere was required to eat 200 pounds of helium.
to help you remain tranquil in the face of almost certain death, smooth jazz will be deployed in three... two... one.
please disregard any undeserved compliments.
all right, i've been thinking.
what am i supposed to do with these?
do you know who i am?
oh, i like this guy.
he says what we're all thinking.
you can head on back to your desk.
well, this is the part where he kills us.
hello. this is the part where i kill you.
i know you.
no! i'm not listening! i'm not listening!
you're lying!
you're not just a regular moron. you were designed to be a moron.
i am not! a moron!
now who's a moron?
could a moron do that?
i can't see it though. maybe it fell off.
do you want to go and have a quick look?
are you alive? that's important. should have asked that first.
i'm going to work on the assumption that you're still alive.
i'm just going to wait for you up ahead.
i'll wait one hour.
brilliant! go team!
i think we can put our differences behind us.
hi. so. how are you holding up?
good, that's still working.
here are the test results.
you are a horrible person.
i'm serious. that's what it says.
we weren't even testing for that.
don't be alarmed, all right?
good work getting this far.
i wish i could take it all back. i honestly do.
i'm in space.
if i were ever to see her again, do you know what i'd say? i'd say "i'm sorry." sincerely.
i am sorry. i was bossy and monstrous... and i'm genuinely sorry.
you made it through! well done!
okay, follow me. we've still got work to do.
what's happening?
okay... don't move.
so i've got an idea, but it is bloody dangerous. here we go.
they told me that if i ever turned this flashlight on, i would die.
they told me that about everything.
i don't even know why they bother giving me this stuff if they didn't want me to use it.
look at you, soaring through the air like an eagle.
i'm different!
prometheus was punished by the gods for giving the gift of knowledge to man. he was cast to the bowels of the earth and pecked by birds.
it won't be enough. the answer lies beneath us.
oh, it's dark down here, isn't it?
i'm proud of you.
now we are a family again.
that last test was seriously disappointing.
just work with me.
some of my best friends are actually orphans.
you look ugly in that jumpsuit.
that's not my opinion.
i'll be honest. we're throwing science at the wall here to see what sticks.
no idea what it'll do.
i knew someone was alive in here!
you'll know when the test starts.
oh thank god you're all right.
i thought you were my greatest enemy, when all along you were my best friend.
the best solution to a problem is usually the easiest one.
i'll be honest. killing you? is hard.
i had a pretty good life. and then you showed up.
you know what? you win. just go.
it's been fun. don't come back.
this sentence is false.
to be honest, i might have heard that one before.
you know, i'm not stupid.
i realize you don't want to put me back in charge.
i'm being serious. i think there's something really wrong with me.
we should get our stories straight.
no, we're not stopping!
don't make eye contact, whatever you do.
i feel awful about that surprise.
oh, that's sad. but impressive.
we're running out of time.
you've probably figured it out by now, but i don't need you anymore.
i'm afraid you're about to become the immediate past president of the being alive club.
the square root of rope is string.
okay, what you're doing there is jumping.
you know what? that's close enough.
you saved my bacon.
is this a jailbreak?
the next test is very dangerous.
it's been a long time. how have you been?
i've been really busy being dead. you know, after you murdered me.
you out having yourself a little adventure?
no, don't get up. i'll be right back.
you're unqualified!
what if this hurts? what if it really hurts? oh, i didn't think about that.
get your hands off me!
i can't see a thing! what just happened?
i don't have any bullets.
did you feel that?
you were busy back there.
that's funny. i don't feel corrupt.
i've got an idea! do what it says!
look how small you are down there!
do you have any idea how good this feels?
sorry, fellas. she's married. to science.
let me answer those questions with a question. who wants to make sixty dollars?
yes, all right, okay, this is getting tiresome.
well done. good. aren't you little miss clever. little miss smashy smash.
does it actually make you feel good when you do that?
it's not impressive.
what is this, like a hobby for you now?
i'm beginning to actually take it personally.
it's like an insult to me.
oh, there goes another one.
it's vandalism! it's pure vandalism!
it's just us talking like regular people.
are you going to open this door?
where'd you go? come back!

ꗃ LYNEY NSFW ALPHABET 2/2
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
warnings: afab genitalia, gn pronouns.
a/n: i sat myself down in front of my puter and told myself: im not getting up until i finish this. thats the only way i can convince myself to stop postponing everything, including stuff i want to finish (like this one lkjhasdflkjhs)
Tumblr media
PART ONE › MASTERLIST ‹
K = Kink (one or more of their kinks)
I can see this guy wanting kids. He wants to give them the childhood and lifestyle he wishes he had when he was one.
So, breeding is a given.
Aside from that, he shows affinity for harnesses, restraints of any kind, sensory deprivation in the form of blindfolding, and lingerie. He prefers you to be the one getting blindfolded and teased, but he’s not against the idea of being on the receiving end.
L = Location (favorite places to do the do)
Given that he doesn’t want to cause any type of scandal, he prefers to play it safe and do it behind closed doors. The biggest risk he’s willing to handle is having you press against a window. Your front against the glass, while he pounds you from behind. Seeing your face reflected on the window until it fogs up from heavy breathing.
M = Motivation (what turns them on, gets them going)
The moment you show a sliver of thigh, the cogs in his mind are already turning. Otherwise, if you’re wearing fishnets, tights, high-knee socks, or just any type of leg accessory (yes, harnesses are included too), that also makes him ogle you when no one else is looking.
N = No (something they wouldn’t do, turn offs)
He’s willing to try anything if it has nothing to do with certain bodily wastes.
O = Oral (preference in giving or receiving, skill, etc.)
He’d be embarrassed to be on the receiving end and probably cumming within the first few minutes, so he prefers to go down on you. Skill-wise, he has limited knowledge, but he takes his time with you to make sure you enjoy it.
P = Pace (are they fast and rough? slow and sensual? etc.)
If the pace is all up to him, he prefers a more sensual way. It’s not difficult to ask him to go faster or rougher if you want, but he likes taking his time with you. Doing it slowly, caressing your body instead of grabbing it and jackhammering into you—he’s a romantic at heart, after all. His fingers touching and playing with your most sensitive parts. He can be quite unfair in this regard because he’s not above edging you in that way, just for the sake of making you as needy as possible.
Q = Quickie (their opinions on quickies, how often, etc.)
Quickies are good if he’s in immediate need of having you and his schedule is tight. He understands there are days in which he won’t be able to spend as much time with you as he wishes he could, and therefore, quickies are an easy solution to that.
R = Risk (are they game to experiment? do they take risks? etc.)
He’d rather play it safe. A scandal of public obscenity is something he’d prefer to avoid. If anything, he would trace his fingers against your thigh, or grip it, when you’re sitting down next to him having dinner at a restaurant. But that’s about it.
S = Stamina (how many rounds can they go for? how long do they last?)
He’s a performer; he must have a nice amount of endurance for physical activity. He might do one long, consistent round or a multiple, reasonable number of rounds. It depends on his partner’s preference. He’s fine with either.
T = toys (do they own toys? do they use them? on a partner or themselves?)
I do think he has at least one, but he sees little need to keep it after he’s with someone. He shows interest in stimulating your body with some handy toy, like a bullet vibrator or something of the like. Open to suggestions from your part if you want to try a toy on him, too.
U = Unfair (how much they like to tease)
If he’s feeling playful and teasing, he’s pretty unfair. He’ll keep tethering you to the edge of your orgasm, pulling away at the right time before working you up to that edge again. He doesn’t care if you’re obedient or not; if he wants to edge you for the next couple of minutes, he’ll do it.
V = Volume (how loud they are, what sounds they make, etc.)
Man tries so hard to keep his voice down. He can manage in the beginning, but the closer he is to his orgasm, the louder he gets. He whines and moans, even crying your name if he has been edged for a while. You may try covering his mouth with yours; he’s going to moan into the kiss, and his sounds of pleasure slip through. Can’t shut up for the life of him (affectionately).
W = Wild card (a random headcanon for the character)
Every time you visit him backstage, he has fantasized about having a quickie with you there, just before a show. This fantasy is not viable, because that would mean Lynette could catch you both in the act, and that wouldn’t be a fun experience. The same applies to when he imagines you visiting him in the dressing room before a show.
Y = Yearning (how high is their sex drive?)
Fairly high. Aside from the reason being his age, it’s also due to him being an energetic individual, and he has to release said energy in some way or another.
Z = Zzz (how quickly they fall asleep afterwards)
He’ll be awake if you talk to him, but the moment there’s some silence, he’s asleep.

xxtc-96xx Callout post
To start I want you to know I didn't want things to have to come to this but after recent developments and discussions from others I cannot ignore what's been going on for years now. This is a problem revolving around the user @xxtc-96xx , the comic Endertale, and the Undertale fandom. I will try to explain what I know and offer proof when I can, but there might be some sloppiness as this is my first real post on Tumblr. If there is any technical issues about this post, please let me know so I can fix it.
Let me start from the beginning. I have been a long time fan of xxtc-96xx since about 2016 (I will refer to them as TC to make it easier). I have enjoyed looking at the art they create for many years, mainly the ones revolving around Endertale.
Endertale is a fan comic that TC made of the game Undertale. It's a very decent story with a pleasant art style. I would recommend it but I cannot and I will get to why. You see TC has suffered from something that just about any creator can relate to, burnout. The most recent comic page being posted in 2021 though there was already a hiatus established before that.
While they made it long clear that they needed to go on break for personal reasons, people wanted to ask for when they will continue it. Some of them calm and reasonable and other's were very much not nice. TC answered them honestly at first.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Then it started to devolve into troll responses or just not answering.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Not just on Tumblr but people kept asking on Deviantart as well. In fact people are still asking today in 2024. It has gotten so frequent that TC felt it necessary to change their profile header to this:
Tumblr media
And it has stayed that way for so long I lost track of when it started. To be fair, even I found the frequent questions to be overwhelming and they just like every artist who makes stuff for free is entitled to take a break from their work. However this post isn't a complaint about how long it takes to finish a comic, it's about something that started because of the wait.
See, their original reason to take a break was because they were too busy with personal matters for them to commit to an actual comic. But as their history up to today has shown that's no longer a valid excuse. As time went on they started to show an interest in the Pokemon fandom. specifically the pokemon known as Mewtwo. To make a long story short, what started as small doodles grew into a whole bunch of fancomics and animations. To compare, they have drawn nearly four times as many Pokemon drawings compared to Undertale. Now, it is perfectly fair and acceptable to find an interest in a different fandom. And while I personally prefer Undertale over Pokemon I completely supported their decision to focus on other fandoms and enjoyed what they made. I also understood their issues with the fandom at the time, some people were rather aggressive, rude, or demanding the comic to be completed, a comic that's completely free that they make no profit out of. I even recall one point they tried to unsuccessfully drag a different content creator into this issue as if it would somehow work.
However I started to notice they had a warped perception on the fandom. Rather than blame the few people that harassed them online with constant asks, they believed that the entire fandom as a whole is to blame as declared it all toxic. Something they insist on repeating to all their fans and making them believe their opinion as fact.
Now for the record I am very aware of how toxic this fandom was and can be at times. I was around since the beginning and have seen just about every drama that has come. From the fans harassing you for not doing the pacifist route in the first time playing, people arguing if either Frisk or Chara is a really bad person, arguing over Frisk's and Chara's gender, is genocide the right choice, is Toriel the bad guy or Asgore, and a controversy revolving around a certain creator of the au Glitchtale (the last one TC coincidentally emulates their "Delay work for one week for every ask" and finds it amusing). I know this fandom is not the best but I love it all the same, it's as much a part of my life as it is for TC. I know I am not perfect at showing my interest for Undertale, as this image of a private ask shows.
Tumblr media
Or this time I made a obviously joke ask and apparently I didn't realize a lot of people don't understand sarcasm.
Tumblr media
Or when I tried to ask this sincere and nonaggressive question, one of the few times TC isn't putting up some kind of attitude.
Tumblr media
Or this other ask from me.
Tumblr media
At the end of the day this is just a comic. No one has any right to demand them to continue it or make death threats, this is completely unacceptable. However, at the same time this doesn't mean the creator should dehumanize the entire fandom or punish the few that are being respectful. They wait and what do they get, people mocking them and bullying them. That's what I realized in the past week when I engaged in the comments of a few posts. TC allow their fans to bully the fandom.
I tried to be as calm and reasonable as I can and yet I get called out as a toxic fan. And in the end did TC scold everyone else, no, they basically told me to shut up. I overestimated the fans intelligence and if they could handle basic logic, read the comments for yourself to see my point. As someone with Asperger and anger issues, it's a god given miracle I am still trying to maintain my composure within this insanity that has been going on for years. I have spoken with several content creators who asked to remain anonymous about this entire fiasco and we have similar conclusions about TC.
TC has been through a lot of painful and hurtful comments over the years that they did not deserve in the slightest. They are entitled to do whatever they want with their comic and works. Saying a fandom is or isn't toxic is unhelpful as you fundamentally miss the mark on how fandom culture works. As a creator, it is not right to hang this hiatus over people's heads and string them along. TC does not respect their Undertale fans in the slightest and mocks those who is still waiting. They indirectly encourage their other fans to bully and dehumanize the rest.
I held back on making a comment about all this for two reasons. One, TC's fandom terrifies me. They are complete smug hypocrites who spend way too much time on the internet that they don't realize that if they use their words in real life they will get punched in the face for it. Two, despite everything I still believe that TC can change. I like to believe the best in everyone and that there is hope that maybe this time TC will realize they have become the very thing they hate. That hope has faded to cinders. I'm done with TC, my only concern is the people remaining to wait for the comic.
To everyone who is waiting for Endertale and/or following TC because you like their Undertale stuff, leave them and never come back. They do not respect you, they look down on you, they laugh watching you wait, you deserve better than them. Even if they do finish the comic eventually it will not be made out of love or passion.
DO NOT harass and bully them because of my words. I will not tolerate any attempt to do so.
My final words are for TC if they even decide to read this:
TC, I know we are not friends, you made that clear long ago but I was hoping we could've been. You were a huge inspiration for me in the past and was what pushed me to attempt learning about art. I looked up to you and tried to support you when you were feeling down. You are no longer that person.
You do not have the right to condemn an entire fandom as toxic and declare it as a fact of life. It's people like you that keep the fandoms so divided to this day. It's because of people like you I am scared for my life if I ever mention Undertale in public. Your fixation on the sins of the past prevents us from moving forward. I do not excuse what happened but the past is in the past, get over it and grow up, you are an adult so act like it.
You say you don't owe us any comic or works, well at the same time if you want to mistreat the fandom I care about then I or anybody don't owe you any respect yet I did for nearly five years.
Why? Because I cared about how this all made you feel. What do you see when you look at me, another obsessed toxic fan who should keep their mouth shut or a PERSON with their own thoughts feelings and beliefs?
One of your problems is that you think nothing ever seems to be your fault, just the fans who keep asking. Well maybe they wouldn't have asked if you didn't leave them hanging for almost five years. To me, it no longer matters if you finish Endertale or not.
Maybe you still think it isn't your fault, then that makes me the idiot for hoping you can be better. You hurt me, really hurt me. I don't think I can ever trust someone like you again.
Do you know what I really want?
Your apology. I want you to make a genuine apology to me and the fandom at your actions over the years. I won't block you because being the idiot I am I hope my words mean something to you and you'll want to chat.
But until you wise up ask yourself this familiar question,
Do you really think you are above consequences?

business trip ★ genshin
how they are after returning from a long leave.
Tumblr media
childe is no stranger when it comes to leaving for a long time so it was just something you had to get used to. it’s not like you minded it yet he always fills a mental jar with sorry’s whenever he leaves.
but he comes back with nothing but piled up love to drown you in. he’d ask what you want to do that day he returns whether it’s stay at home or go out and comply with whatever you want as a way to make up for loss time, at night his grip around your body is tighter than before.
diluc was never the type to travel, furthest travel he makes at best is dawn winery to the city centre of monstadt. so him being elsewhere was weird. he’s the type to write letters at the same time he might forget to send them so when he returns that’s when you also receive the letters—
when he comes home he just kisses you as he puts the body weight of his that you can manage to carry. he’s alot more touchy and vulnerable. he’s on your side a lot more like when you’re doing your work outside he’ll pay visits to you or if you work from home he’ll rest his head in your lap, he treasures your company so much.
kaeya would be so nonchalant when he returns like “hey yn what’s for breakfast today” like? okay? but also the dining table would be covered in gifts he bought from his trip. you for some reason have to bring up how was the trip on your own. “oh yea i went on that.” and then he’d give his opinionated asf opinion while having breakfast, while holding your hand as you sit across from him.
he then gives you a very detailed reasoning to why he bought certain gifts and how everytime he thought of you he’d instantly buy it. “this figure looks funny like you. so i bought it,” and then it’s the most cursed thing you’ve seen but anyways, you guys have matching keychains now.
albedo would reassure his love to you through letters, sometimes he’d just send paintings of the sights he’s seen. when albedo comes back he’d explain the paintings and would talk about the things you both could do if you go there together.
zhongli would’ve convinced you beforehand to go with him but you were always too busy. when he comes back he’d greet you with a kiss on the forehead and prepare some tea so that you two can catch up on each other. he’d then show you pictures of stuff you missed out on, teasing you to the fullest. he’d specifically show pictures of food or cute animals, all to spite you.
xiao would jumpscare you,, accidentally when he comes back. he never gave you an exact date of when he’d come back. before you left you had jokingly told him to bring a souvenir and he took that seriously. he’d bring you home a statue of the archon if you want him to. when you see him tho you just look forward to hugging him and that’s all he needed after a long period of time without you.
itto would forget to bring you a souvenir— and he’d beat himself up about it cause he really wanted to get you something like it was his top priority but a priority that slipped his mind a little too often.
nevertheless the night he came back was a night of him pampering as soon as he’s in the door he carries you bridal style and crashes into your bed that you swear will break the more he does that movement. as you lay in his arms he tells you all the things he did when he was gone.
kazuha counts down the days before he comes back home to you. he tries to make the wait feel shorter but it’s not really helping— but he comes back and he shares all his stories with you even picking up a few tunes he heard while he was there and performs a bit for you. he then asks you what you’ve done while he was gone as he tucks your hair behind your ear.
Tumblr media
i should play sumeru i don’t know shit about it but i wanna write about my baby girls alhaitham and kaveh— plus cyno sounds so funny dude

The Outdoor Market
Content Warning: a brief conversation about religion at the end
MC
"Hello!" the butcher greets when we step up to his counter. "What can I do for you?"
"I'd like to buy five whole chickens," Beel answers. He told me that he struggled the other day to not eat everything he saw before paying for it, but that doesn't seem to be the case today. Granted, I'm holding his hand to prevent him from wandering off too far, but still. He could just as easily use his free hand to grab stuff.
"Five chickens, coming right up!" The butcher pauses. "Didn't you come through here recently?" Beel nods his head.
"I was with my brother." The butcher smiles kindly.
"Ah, yes. I remember now. You were one of the tallest people in the crowd." He glances over at me. "I see you brought someone else with you today. Is that another sibling of yours?"
"This is MC." The butcher grins.
"How wonderful! I remember you telling me about them. I think it's sweet that you guys moved closer to them after graduation." I was not aware that Beel came up with a cover story. It would have been nice to know beforehand so that I could play along and not mess up any details.
"They really mean a lot to us." Beel squeezes my hand, looking over at me with a loving gaze. The butcher glances around to look for customers before leaning closer to us.
"Allow me to offer you some advice," he states.
"Advice?" I repeat. "What kind of advice?"
"I'm going to let you two in on the secret to a long, healthy relationship."
"I'd definitely be interested in hearing about that," Beel responds, causing the butcher to softly smile.
"Well, the main thing is that you both have to respect each other. You each have to let the other live their own life without interfering too much, and you need to stay interested in each other. As long as you consistently do these things, you'll be good."
~~~
"So, what exactly did you tell the butcher the other day?" I ask Beel. We've dropped off the chicken at the house, and now we're currently sitting on one of the benches outside.
"Oh, that," Beel remarks. "I told him that you were an exchange student at the college we went to, but it was several hours away from where you lived, so we couldn't come over to see you very often once the exchange program ended."
"But then once you guys graduated, you decided to move closer to me so that we could see each other more often."
"Exactly." I like that he came up with something plausible. I wonder if anyone helped him hammer out the details of that story, or if he did everything by himself.
"What did you think of the advice?"
"I thought it was interesting. Do all human world butchers offer secrets to long and healthy relationships?" I shake my head.
"I think it's just a quirk of this particular one."
"I see." Beel pauses. "I wonder if we've been doing the three things he suggested."
"You and your brothers?"
"Well, yes, but I was thinking more about you and me." Interesting.
"Do you want my honest opinion?" He nods. "If we're solely judging by those three criteria, I think that my relationship with you is the healthiest one that I have with you guys."
"What makes you say that?"
"You're the only one out of your brothers that actively tries to not interfere with my life too much." He doesn't respond for a moment, appearing to mull over my words.
"I suppose you're right," he eventually agrees. "They either drag you into their drama or do things behind your back to alter certain aspects of your life. I know they do it because they love you and want to spend time with you, but some of the ways they choose to express it...it rubs me the wrong way.
"They want things to be perfect for you, even going as far as to try to eliminate anything that might cause you pain or hardship. But it's impossible. Life is supposed to have challenges, and not just trivial ones, either. Everything you've gone through, both good and bad, has made you the person you are today. You're strong, MC, but you're also kind. And smart. Incredibly smart." He pauses. "I think my brothers forget that sometimes. You're not just some clueless sheep that needs to be guided in the right direction; you know where you're going."
"Is that left over from your Celestial Realm days?" Beel nods.
"It was drilled into us constantly. This is going to sound harsh, but we were taught that humans were dumb creatures easily tempted by sin. Part of our job was to keep them on the path of salvation because they were too stupid to do it themselves."
"Even though we were created to have free will." He sighs.
"I've never understood that."
"Free will?"
"No. That's simple enough. What always confused me is why we had to exert control over humans. Due to free will, some of them will inevitably choose a different path than the one we planned for them, and that should have been okay. If it wasn't, then why did God--our Father--give humans free will in the first place?"
"Some say it was a test to see if humans would choose the path of God on their own."
"Maybe, but then why punish those that choose differently?" He shakes his head slightly and sighs. "I'm sorry, MC. I didn't mean to get all religious on you." I reach out and touch the top of his hand.
"Don't apologize. I appreciate the insight."
Ann, Makoto, Futaba, Haru general relationship headcanons
Tumblr media
Note: sorry if this took a long time, anon!! i hope you enjoy it nonetheless :> i did both platonic and romantic for this one <;3 i hope everyone has a nice day!
Tumblr media
Ann
Platonic: Ann is a very lively, and supportive friend. She tends to spend most of her free time around the school with her friends. She most definitely cherishes your friendship, and finds time to hang out; whether it is something as simple as eating lunch together, studying together, or maybe even going out shopping. If you have an important project/event coming up, she will show her support and offer help to the best of her abilities; she considers herself your personal cheerleader! Ann will try her best to show her appreciation for your friendship, hoping that you can be friends for a long time!
Romantic: Ann is a very romantic girlfriend, in the sense that she might want to try a few clichés atleast once. Of course, that is not a bad thing, but she will still feel shy initiating every once in a while. She's someone who values quality time and may appreciate a few words of affirmation. And thus, shopping dates are common! She is also someone who enjoys playing videogames, so if you like that as well, maybe boot up some multiplayer games together. She hopes she gets to enjoy these kinds of moments with you for a long time.
Tumblr media
Makoto
Platonic: Makoto is a very caring friend, to the point that it seems like you have a second mother. She's not overbearing, but she is the type to remind you to eat meals, and to take breaks every so often. Sometimes, she forgets to take her own advice though. She tries her best to hangout with you, but if you plan on having a big day with her you are going to have to tell her your plans in advance. She values your friendship and opinion very much, and may ask for your perspective on certain things. The importance and gravity of the situation depends on how much she trusts you.
Romantic: Makoto is a meek girlfriend. At the start of your relationship, she may just go along whatever it is you want to do. After a while together, she starts being vocal about what she wants to do. Makoto really appreciates affirmations and acts of service, and these are also how she shows her love. Seeing as how she takes studying seriously, you've probably been in a lot of study dates together. If you are having a hard time with a certain topic, she will try her best to help. She wants the both of you to succeed, together.
Tumblr media
Futaba
Platonic: Futaba is a bashful friend at first. Once she gets comfortable with you though, she's very energetic especially when conversing online. She is most definitely the kind of friend to send you things that remind her of you, like memes, clips, and other things. Probably lots gaming nights, and watch parties together. She will still hangout with you outside, but you need to tell her in advance so she can mentally prepare herself. She is trying her best! Don't get her wrong, she enjoys your company a lot. She really likes hearing you talk about your interests, and she also likes sharing a lot of her interests with you!
Romantic: Futaba will slightly return to being bashful during the start of your relationship, especially when you do romantic stuffs. When she gets used to it, she may even feel brave to initiate some things by herself! She might want to do some of those multiplayer games geared towards couples. She really enjoys quality time, even if it is a parallel play kind of situation. Like if you guys are in a call together, even if you are doing different things she will still enjoy nonetheless. She is so used to having you around, that it feels weird when you are gone for longer than predicted (because you got a little busy). But she knows you will come back, you told her after all, and she will gladly wait.
Tumblr media
Haru
Platonic: Haru may seem reserved at first, being cautious when making new relationships. When you get closer though, she is very sweet. She likes including you in a lot of activities, the kind to ask you to hang out with her while she gardens. You do not necessarily have to help, you could do your homework for all she cares, she just really likes having you there. She is also not against sharing most of her things with you, oh you need a pen? Here! You can keep it if you want! Also the kind to worry about you, but her approach is more, "Oh you haven't eaten? Let's eat at the cafeteria!" She likes doing most things with you, if it wasn't obvious.
Romantic: Haru is very happy to be your girlfriend! She is really open to going out on all sorts of dates, and doing different activities together! She does not have any particular activity she prefers doing, as she is just really happy being with you. But she does tend to be big on gift-giving, she loves giving you little trinkets that remind her of you. Considering she plans on eventually starting a café chain, Haru does a lot of thinking about the future. And you know what? She sees you as a staple in all those.
I think would be a great idea for you to make a video talking about Gen and Danneel doing black magic. I think people would be interested in your conversation with the psychic guy by your guys messaging each other. After I did read of screenshots from your last post. I am hooked and hungry for want know more information about it, plus I want your opinion about Gen too.
By the way, did the psychic guy message you again? Because I am dying to know what he said more about Danneel and Jensen.
Hello Anon, thank you for the ask. So he and I have been talking some. Some of the same stuff has been said by him multiple but also by me in different words in multiple posts. For a point of reference, this is the first of these screenshots I posted regarding Danneel and Gen's black magic. I have a few more messages I will share below as well. He and I did talk about Hilarie Burton. I know quite a few anti Danneel folks here don't like Hilarie as well, some have said she comes across as fake and such. Interesting fact about Hilarie, she is actually not an incarnated demon like Danneel is but is instead an incarnated dark Faye. Hmmm, does Danneel in fact have a brunette lover or did she just hang out with a brunette? Some people might think she is in fact talking about Steve, which a lot of fellow anti Danneel bloggers here would know about ha ha. The psychic guy did tell a little more about Danneel's said illnesses and a couple more things.
I just might make a video Anon if there's enough demand for it since it takes time to do research, put together screenshots like this, make the video, edit as needed, etc.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
As for my opinion on Gen, now that is something I didn't really elaborate on but it can be implied by more recent posts of mine, I don't exactly hold her on a pedestal. Before I elaborate on my opinions of Gen, I wanted to take a chance to address something I recently saw. Namely, a post someone sent me where it seems an Anon was talking about my Hooters post and where the answer talked about how normal that is going to places like that and how this is crucifying him or perhaps holding him to impossible standards. Now come on, I am no Jared hater and in fact overall like him a lot. No one escapes my observations for better or for worse, Jared and Gen included. I do however just about always defend my friends and family, even if I end up telling them they are wrong in private. I never embarrass my friends or family on purpose and wouldn't do this my partner if I had one unlike Gen ha ha.
Because of the fact I am a personality theories nerd, if anyone is familiar with the MBTI I'm big time ENTP. Of course, labels don't describe everything and we are more than just certain things but I am mentioning this because I question EVERYTHING and EVERYONE, it's what I do. Some people just need to get over this.... anyways onto the real topic, just wanted to share that fun fact about myself and a tidbit of my general personality with you all.
I decided to take this opportunity to share screenshots from a Reddit thread on others' opinions on men who frequently go to places like Hooters, Tilted Kilt, Coyote Ugly, and then the other ones mentioned in the screenshots below. I will say especially this comment in my opinion, 'cause it is extremely relevant for why I question this whole Hooters frequenting of Jared's in my book (and notably without Gen being there for the more recent times in recent years): "Depends on context. Once in a while for a birthday party or guy’s night is fine. Routinely/regularly on his own? That’s weird." I like people getting multiple perspectives thrown into one, 'cause I can. That's just how I roll, kids! But hey, if you want to see some other sites that talk about this, you can also check out this Quora question, this Askmen thread (where of course a lot of the guys who answered said it's merely a woman being insecure), another Reddit thread where her husband keeps lying about going to places like this, this girlsaskguys thread, you guys get the idea at this point, don't cha?!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
And I am pretty sure this is exactly what all these "crazy, insecure women" are thinking these Hooters waitresses and such are thinking, summarized in a catchy song "Don't Cha" by the Pussycat Dolls. 🎶I'd probably be just as crazy about you if you were my own man🎶
youtube
Nah but man for real, I found it funny how the same day Coyote Ugly photos came out, Gen's hair stylist or something posted this. Was this to validate herself or just her position in her cushy lifestyle. Oops, I meant as Jared's loving wife and mother of 3 children... or did I? Here I answered someone earlier today about Jared going from wanting to retire to being a producer and then ended up being both the lead character and the Executive Producer on his Show "Walker". I provided plenty of direct quotes to show what is being officially said about why he changed his mind on staying in acting. Note that I said officially there being the keyword in the last sentence. My real opinion? I think that Jared started to realize that because he spent so much time away from home that he in a way feels like an outsider, an issue that might've been exasperated by the COVID lockdowns. I can't for the life of me find where that interview was originally from, so if someone wants to chime in I'll gladly give credit :D
youtube
Now I'm going to bring up a couple of quotes directly from this video that was from their Walker Interview on "The Talk" from April 2021 after the midseason finale of Walker. Again coming straight out of Jared and Gen's mouths.
youtube
9:48 What has it been like to to get to work together and live together again? Jared: "Uhh it's been pretty magical I think I think I'll kind of echo something that Gen said earlier which is it's really nice you know. I think as it happens often times mothers will umm put their passions and their talents aside uh when having kids. And annoying so below, 10:12 Um more often than not it's because the fathers are useless. I know I can say that as far as I go, and so she kind of stepped aside from acting for about nine years to make sure that our kids didn't perish so thank god but now seeing her work again in her elements. You know she had gone to school and acted she had her own TV show and then we had met on the TV, she had done movies and this and that and so to be able to show her off you know during COVID times. Con't. 10:55 During COVID times my kids can't come to set because we're all tested regularly. You have to be part of a certain uh grouping tha tyou can only talk with people that you work with, we're all wearing masks and we're all distancesd and so I can't bring friends or family or my kids to set but I can have my wife there because she's on show as well. 11:03 to 11:12: It's date day. So there have been I'll admit there have been a few times where we've been on set and it'll be like 5pm and we're both wrapped. We're like well if we wait a couple hours then the kids will be asleep by the time we get home. Gen starts laughing and says (I think) don't admit that. 11:16 to 11:26: They won't see it, they won't know until a couple more years. (Gen briefly says "catch dinner") Yeah we're gonna be like pretending, let's pretend we're still filming. Uh, let's tell the babysitter we're still filming and let's go get some sushi or something" 11:36 onward And of course, Gen takes a moment to talk about her pet project TOWWN here. Is this about the show Walker or is this about the Jared and Gen show?
Well Jared she certainly made her stance clear in this interview with Dave Hollis (partial transcript included in my post here) how she really felt about you coming home to live with her. Just saying...
"This is the first time I lived with my husband. I know that sounds really crazy but my husband had been filming a TV show for 15 years in Vancouver so when all of this started you know he came down here. He had 2 episodes left and then that was the completion of the series. Personally, it meant that I had to live with him and deal with coparenting which was really stressful like the thought of it. And to make that work, and it was crazy because we were always in this tight bubble with just us and our kids and it really was simplifying. It was you know like the layers are gone. The interference is gone, drama is kinda out the window in a way, and we got to really simplify basic needs. It's so weird how much unlayering we had to do and that's what I'm finding through all of this is a lot of unlayering to get to the core". "I was just talking to someone about this that my favorite relationship with him is a work relationship. Sometimes it's hard to be married to him because he's like, Jared is so interesting because he's so analytical. I mean my husband, I'm going to toot his horn because he's literally one of the smartest human beings I've ever met in my life and it's annoying because he will correct you on words you think he didn't even know. I have a book of SAT words just because I'm like I am going to get him. And so I'll just casually talk about something and use a crazy word in a sentence and he'll be like well you pronounced it incorrectly. It's so frustrating. Also in our marriage he's very giving and emotional and supportive. He's supportive in everything that I've done and I feel really lucky and grateful. I think even more so when it comes to work he is your biggest cheerleader and it's going to be a lot of time together. But funny enough, I think we'll be better at work than sometimes we are at home. Because I'm like, this is how the kids are, this is how I like them, this is the order that I like things in. And it's hard for me to let go I think, at home. but at work, it's just a really nice exchange and I feel really lucky, and he'll sit there too. If he's not working, he'll take it, pull up a chair and talk on the phone and watch at me and I can hear him bragging about me and whether he's doing it for my benefit I don't know but it makes me feel good and I feel really lucky that he does stuff like that."
instagram
Cute how they bring the kids to the set of Walker at times like they did in the promos last week, ain't it? However, being the questioner I am I wondered after a friend brought up a great point: "why didn't she and Jared celebrate watching the Total Solar Eclipse together on April 8, 2024, which was yesterday?" Not like COVID is preventing Gen from bringing the kids on the set CLEARLY. AND why was she NOT taking this amazing chance to advertise the cool Walker Eclipse glasses (therefore advertising HER and HER HUSBAND'S show) but instead chose to advertise yet another company in her IG story? Another affiliate partnership that's probably gonna rake in less dollars than you know, her husband's show (I meant the "family project")? Dunno you all decide...
instagram
Tumblr media
I mean also funny how in the post below she was seen wearing one of these "less cool" types of Eclipse glasses during the 2017 Solar eclipse, which I'm saying 'cause they're not as snazzy or sunglasses like. So, not buying the whole "it's because it's more fashionable" type of logic or "she can do whatever she wants". Sure she can but she's in the public eye so her actions and such are free game to criticism. Bite me!
instagram
Point is, Gen is just a walking advertisement. She is fake, she's clearly all about her cushy lifestyle she didn't truly earn (looking at you, black magic!), and frankly I'm pleased that she's got a long ass sentence in "hell" ahead of her (which is funnily enough way longer than Danneel's actually). Also, is it just me or is there something weird about this page excerpt she selected from the book and then comparing it to the attire she chose for the Mom2Summit event this weekend in Nashville, TN? As if the following book excerpt isn't somehow telling about how she REALLY feels without actually saying how she feels...
instagram
Tumblr media
Notice the color of her pants in that post Charlie made has her in turquoise pants. And then go read the above. It starts with: "When we're married, I want us to work together. We'll be a team, and I won't leave you out of matters the way my dad did my mom. She wishes Harv hadn't told her all of this. If he was only using her to prop up his family name, it would be easier to leave him. But he wants a true partnership, one where he would welcome her opinions and thoughts." Another part says towards the end of the page "She pictures Ko Lipe from her poster, the inviting turquoise waves. Her dress flutters around her legs as she heaves one leg over the railing, then the other. On her tiptoes, she surveys the water below her. It's no Thai island but it'll do. She jumps." Also note where she underlined: "Too many expectations. Too many people in her ear saying they're not asking for too much. She gives and gives but still it's not enough."
Not sure how much she's giving here because she's been handed everything on a silver platter and fed by a silver spoon her entire life but what do I know? Turns out she even walked away during this summit towards the end to "take a phone call". From who, your husband who once said was ignoring you in a video and said "come on pick up" in? Feeling a bit petty right now XD
youtube
My bottomline view of Gen is, she tries to portray herself as this homestead type of crunchy Earth hippy mom but then when you look at her closely enough she is a much bigger liar than Danneel is and is much more fake. She is not this great, super supportive wife that Jared for some dumb ass reason keeps trying to make her out to be. For example, I find it funny how just last week she was all about promoting Walker, even including filming Jared with Odette and Shep. Cute right? Until I realized that they didn't even share the moment of the Total Eclipse yesterday, let alone Gen advertised yet another affiliate product instead of her own husband's show. I honestly don't believe the whole oh we can't bring the kids on set rule during COVID. If y'all are the bosses (oh sorry, there's really only 1 and that's Jared NOT Gen) you can make exceptions. What is the CDC gonna do, arrest you for bringing your kids to work? They could've made them stay stuck to their iPads or something, not that hard to social distance unless they're unruly. But then again being the wittle rebel I can be at times, I just think outside the box a lot. Heck, I brought my kid to work with me to my job during COVID and when he did them online schooling sessions and all that on iPad, ain't it so nice being able to work for family? ♥
An over the top and in depth analysis on the rottmnt Family medic candidates, and in what order I’d place them to be in as the most suitable medics(real: Splodge sucks at writing short titles)
I’m not usually one for making hcs outside of the known canon, but there are lots of hcs in rottmnt that i love/absolutely agree with. I’m not sure about this one, i don’t feel there is a fixed medic in the family, but it does make sense ngl.
I’m gonna analyse each family member to tell which ones would be the best to fit the role of medic(or replacement Medic).
Raph: Raph would be very likely to become stressed even if someone skinned a knee slightly, or go over the top if one of his family members were injured(not really a bad thing, but it could make them uncomfortable). He wouldn’t be a great medic, not only because of his obviously larger and therefore more clumsy hands, but also because you have to stay calm, or at least be able to keep a cool head when you treat wounds, especially if they’re bad. Raph is in my opinion probably the worst candidate for a medic in most situations, though he could be good if he stays calm and is careful, as he is very motherly and he would probably be good at looking after someone while helping them.
Leo: Leo is as far as I’m aware the most popular candidate for medic in the fandom, and I do see why. He is smart enough to learn something if he wanted to or felt the need to, and he is the best at manipulating others into thinking he’s calm or laid back even in the worst situations. He’s pretty neat in his own way and would probably be able to make whoever he’s treating be so annoyed they don’t even care about being wounded(/pos/j). He’s likely to do it correctly, unlike his other family members, all more likely to go over the top or not know what to do.
Donnie: Donnie was at first my most logical option, but I realised the flaw in this quite fast. Though he’s very smart and no doubt has excellent knowledge in lots of Things, his interests are mostly in technology(that can be useful in certain medical situations, to be fair), and even though it’s likely he knows in theory how to treat wounds, he easily gets nauseous(as seen, especially in the film, a couple times when he feels sick at seeing certain slimy gooey stuff(unspecified to avoid spoilers). Also, agin like with Raph, he might go over the top, and not just because he cares about his brothers but also because he seems like exactly the kind of guy to be a bit of a hypochondriac.
Mikey: Mikey might be a good medic ngl. At first I thought obviously not, but I realised he might not be that bad. He could probably learn medical knowledge(with a bit of difficulty probably), even if his attention span seems a bit short, and other than knowledge, he might be quite a nice caretaker to have. He’s cheerful so you are likely to feel less stressed, and I bet he has a ton of colourful plasters. If the injuries aren’t very bad, Mikey would be a great medic, and the main reason I’m saying if they’re not bad is because he’s pretty young(to be fair not a lot younger than his brothers, but still young), and learning medical knowledge takes time and a good concentration is definitely a plus(which Mikey doesn’t really have). He’d probably be a pretty bangin’ therapist though.
Splinter: Oof. I’m not sure actually. I know that splinter at least at the beginning is pretty neglectful, but he would definitely try to help his family if they needed it, we all know that. The problems I see are that firstly, similar to Raph, he doesn’t seem to handle stress all that well. And secondly, the boys are likely to injure themselves doing something they weren’t supposed to, so they wouldn’t go to ask him for help.
April: I’m a little surprised that April doesn’t really appear as a medic in any fics/hcs. She would, in my opinion, be a pretty good one. She’s a little impulsive, but that’s mainly when it comes to battle, and she would probably be the smartest if it weren’t for Donnie. As far as I’m aware she doesn’t get nauseous as easily, and she can definitely act fast and smart even in dangerous/stressful situations. She probably won’t go over the top or … under the top I guess, and she’s a great improviser, probably would be able to patch someone up on the spot if needed.
In conclusion, I think that even though Medic Leo isn’t a bad hc, I think medic April makes more sense. The order I would put them in would be:
April
Leo
Donnie
Mikey
And Raph and splinter tied.
I hope you had fun watching me rambling without proof or rewatches and I bid you farewell and good luck on your turtly adventures
Unpopular Opinion: "Men suffer from toxic (you know what goes here) and Women suffer from sexism" is a fancy way of saying women are allowed to snap from trauma, whereas men should blame themselves and make sure they're never a danger to anyone else.
And boy, does society love that last one. Victim blaming at its finest.
This ask hits kind of a personally relevant note for me, so apologies if this is longer than you expected.
I think there's some kind of logic behind this, like people will say this about a woman on the assumption that she has exhausted every possible avenue of help, and found no help forthcoming, whereas they will say the other thing about a man on the assumption that help has been offered to him and he flatly refused to take it. Men will do anything rather than go to therapy! etc. etc.
And I think what this misses is the ways that everyone, including these same people, can even unknowingly disincentivise men from actually getting help.
I haven't told anyone I know IRL about this, but yesterday, I started therapy. It's costing me money out of my own pocket because Medicare only covers about 65% of the full price of an appointment—and that's if you've already gone to a GP and paid more money to get a referral. I digress. The point is, every single one of my friends I opened up to about my problems was like "Dude. Seek help. Now." It kinda made me feel ashamed for opening up about my problems in the first place, to anyone other than a trained professional. Yes, there was also a 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th place, so I can understand how it might have been hard to deal with, but the feeling remained.
Eventually, it reached the point where I could no longer justify my "self-improvement using only myself" regimen against my punishingly restrictive budget. Not only because my ability to cope reached an end, but because my budget finally got a bit more relaxed. So I listened to my friends and booked an appointment with my GP, then with a psychologist she referred me to.
First impressions are everything, and I have to be frank, I don't think I built much of a rapport with this guy. But the main issue was—
If you've ever had mental health issues, what's the one thing that always prevents you from seeking help?
Correct, that your problems are tiny and not worthy of consideration next to the grand scale of human suffering. Why should the psychologist be helping you, when there are actively suicidal people or people in prison or abuse survivors, all with way worse problems than you, whom he could be helping instead?
People around you will insist that all mental health struggles are valid, that there isn't, like, a minimum standard for how desperate you need to feel before you seek help.
I wasn't really sure how to start, so I just told him the story of what happened to me during the pandemic. The way my ex and I drifted apart, the way I sacrificed some of my needs during that time to make sure hers were met, the financial pressure I felt from my parents cajoling me into buying a house, other seemingly close friends (at least 3 of them?) ghosting me without the slightest explanation.
And all he could say at the end, when I'd run out of things to talk about, was "What do you want me to do here?"
I can understand why a question like that might be asked in therapy settings, but hearing it so bluntly like that... it genuinely made me feel like my problems were insignificant on a scale I hadn't imagined. It was said in a way that suggested there was nothing here for us to latch onto, nothing for us to improve upon, just me whining about stuff that happened ages ago. It hurt.
Obviously I didn't have much of an answer to give. If I knew what to do about the things that were making me feel sad, I would have done them myself without paying $60 for a middle-man to tell me to do them. Broadly speaking, I would like the bad feelings to go away and my awkward behaviour in certain situations to stop! Was that not obvious? You're the expert! If you listened to me talk for 40 minutes and you don't think there's a clear and obvious way forward, what does that say about the scope and severity of my problems?
I don't think I'll stick with this guy. My point here is, I think people should be a lot more careful about recommending therapy to men, because they can be so careless about dismissing men's problems out of hand with the other side of their mouth. Whether that takes the form of mocking people for male tears, or chastising them because women aren't your therapists and can't be expected to perform that kind of emotional labour, or any other of a number of subconscious biases that still insist "Your problems aren't actually real."
To be quite honest, I don't even think therapy will be a productive avenue for me. That kind of thing never factors into these conversations though, and I think that's because a lot of "men need therapy" discourse is entirely performative.
So a little under 2 weeks ago, I was responding back to some of the comments from chapters 13 and 14 of To Break the Bonds Within Two Kingdoms. As I was having a conversation with one user, they made a very interesting comment about how E. Gadd's chaotic nature had to have rubbed off on Luigi a little bit.
And when I saw the words 'chaotic nature,' I kid you not, one of the first things that popped into my head was the D&D alignment chart where it ranges from lawful good to chaotic evil.
And then I started to ask myself where the 5 main characters (6 if you count E. Gadd) in TBTBWTK would be placed in the D&D alignment chart.
Which leads us to what is going to be this very long post. XD
Now, I do want to point out that this is a rough idea and that it could change over time. In addition, this alignment is also based on how the characters are portrayed in my story. There is a possibility that you guys might have different thoughts or opinions on where each character should be placed and that's perfectly okay! If you guys do think that Luigi, King Boo, or any of the other characters listed should be aligned somewhere else, then feel free to let me know because I'm curious to see what y'all's thoughts are. :)
Alright, without any further ado, let's get started! :D
(Adding a cut to avoid minor spoilers to those who haven't read TBTBWTK yet (or at least haven't read up to chapter 15).))
Luigi: Lawful good
Cause let's be honest here: Luigi is the purest thing in the entire world.
2. Mario: Chaotic good
So with the way I envision Mario, I see him as someone who wants what's best for the people he loves (especially Luigi), but the reason I listed him as chaotic good is because the things he feel that are best for Luigi don't always align with what Luigi thinks it's best for himself (i.e., Bowser). Plus, I can see Mario as someone who is willing to break a few rules if it ultimately means helping out Luigi, Peach, or anyone else he loves and cares about.
3. Peach: Lawful neutral
I see Peach as a kind-hearted soul who cares about her people, her friends, and her family (especially Mario). However, the thing I think that ultimately makes her lawful neutral is the fact that she is also a princess/queen and I can see Peach as someone who occasionally (but not always) puts the rules, orders, and traditions above personal preference.
4. Bowser: Chaotic neutral
So Bowser was tricky to figure out, but when it comes down to this, I see him having two different sides: The one side we're all more familiar with in the Nintendo games (e.g., he's not afraid to do whatever he wants whenever he wants, arrogant, and stubborn) and the second rare side he doesn't show very often (e.g., he cares very deeply about his minions and family (i.e., Luigi) and would do anything to protect them. Plus, he does feel certain types of negative emotions such as guilt and regret because of the bad choices he made even if they didn't seem like bad choices at the time (a great visualization of this is in chapter 14 & 15)).
5. Professor E. Gadd: Chaotic good
So E. Gadd was a little tricky to figure out as well, but it's really because there isn't any interactions between him and the rest of the characters in TBTBWTK. With this being said though, I see E. Gadd as a kind-hearted little old man who absolutely loves to learn new things, especially paranormal stuff. However, the thing that makes him chaotic is that I feel like there are times (not a lot of times) where he doesn't care for Luigi's wellbeing as much as he should be. (One good example of this is Luigi's Mansion 2 because the reason that whole adventure happened in the first place was because E. Gadd sold King Boo's painting at a garage sale when he should've known that selling King Boo's portrait was a bad idea.)
6. King Boo: Chaotic evil
Need I say more?
the thingw the orcs in dunmeshi is sth i skirt around bc like u said it is. not a great modern take on orcs. obv not the worst it could be and kui at least did engage w trying to write a more involved lore on them rather than just having this be the same “orcs are big uncivilized brutes” version 8000000 but that element is still there. and i do think “its not the worst” is hardly what i would want to set my highest expectations to jdhdgksgd
tumblrs being a bitch n not letting me put images in so I'll just paste the text from the other ask
Nodding. ty for the info on the ways halfling racism can be compared to irl examples in “the middle east” like that rly is such a close comparison i wonder if it was at all intentional… AND FR on the whole . wishing we knew what they called themselves bc the “halfling” “half foot” thing i rly cant help but think abt how it feels like irl examples of certain groups being denigrated to category slurs its like. LOL. dunmeshi makinh me feel party to fictional racism and microaggressions against my will...
Idk Abt skirting around bc I think it's smthn we should face head on, but at the same time I'm not in a place where I can really add onto the discussion wrt orcs as a white/East Asian person. IIRC ppl have said tolkiens orcs are black and/or central Asian (Mongolian I believe) coded, which is meaningful cause he's influenced so much of modern fantasy, and thats. Y'know. Not great. Also the orcs in dungeon Meshi are essentially an indigenous group from what I remember so that's also a whole mess. Again, my opinions arent very meaningful when it comes to this, but I feel like it's incredibly disappointing to see an author who's clearly capable of nuanced and interesting commentary on racism in the context of real life and fiction (even if it's not always great it's clear she's thinking about it in some depth) really just. Fall back on tropes. Bc for the other races - human is a wider category than usual, tall men aren't always the Everyman, elves are long lived but that doesn't make them wiser, and halflings are mature, worldly and resourceful, which I feel like does a lot to break free of typical fantasy pigeon holeing. But the orcs are just sorta... The Bad Guy but Not That Bad I guess? Theoretically it's a departure from the "super evil forever no exceptions" idea of the but it's still so far behind what needs to be done to make it less of a lazy, racist trope.
Yeah, again I'm not west Asian or Arab like I said, but between reading stuff ppl online write n talking to my Iraqi friend + rereading dungeon Meshi and really trying to analyze it, it kinda stood out to me. I will say I was a little unconfident posting about it bc it's 3 things (4 if you count the name note) but theyre still really notable at least to me. The hand/foot cutting is I feel the most explicit? Because that's such a fucked up stereotype it just stands out immediately. I don't necessarily know if the half foot/middle east connection was intentional, because I assume Japan/Asia in general has a different relationship with West Asia (since they are the "far east" in comparison, so "Middle East" wouldnt really make sense?), but it could be one of those things that colonialism managed to spread. I'm not very knowledgeable about that, but even if it wasn't intentional I think it's a very interesting parallel in how language can be used to categorize people as "normal/other". So i can't say if its intentional or not, but it's definitely an interesting lens to consider the story thru. Id also say I believe halflings are said to be native to a place that's east from where the story takes place, but not the eastern continent (which is p much easy Asia). I've seen some ppl take this to mean eastern Europe, and I don't think that's wrong, but I think u could also think of it as west Asia? Idk if we ever got much info on it in story, so I might be missing some details. (Honestly I'd personally HC that halflings are generally mixed Eastern European/West Asian- not to conflate the two, but rather Im imaging the majority of them are in a kinda blended culture).
#Talking Abt my Iraqi friend again- they're not into Dungeon Meshi but I did chat w them bc I was interested in if they had any thoughts#Abt my conclusions wrt halflings marginalization resembling the way Arabs r stereotyped and they did agree w me on the stuff I brought up#But they're just one person (and my friend) so if any Arabs/West Asians disagree w me Id prob defer to their judgement on the matter#I will say half lings aren't one to one w arab stereotypes bc the ones my friend complained Abt a lot are gender related#(eg. The idea of the violent Arab man and the eternally victimized Arab woman) and those among others aren't really present#As stereotypes about half lings (besides stealing the big one is infantilization which I'd say reminds me of how east Asians are often#Treated by being either fetishized or desexualized bc of their ''youthful appearance''. I specify east Asians bc that's what I'm familiar#With and I don't want to make assumptions Abt other Asians experiences or wrongfully generalize#Anyway I won't lie I initially went in to my reread (besides just wanting to experience the story again) wondering if I could argue#Chilchuck was east Asian and while there's some stuff (mainly infantilization and potentially the money stuff) I realized their#Marginalization resembled Arab ppls marginalization more at least from my perspective#So yea. Again not any sort of authority on the topic but once I noticed I couldn't stop thinking Abt it and now I've typed a lot of words
1. Please do not spam my works. I don’t want to get over flooded with notifications of you liking me. I appreciate the love, I really do. Although, reblogging is just as appreciated and it’s more beneficial. Please be wary of this. 3 - 5 posts a day.
2. Please do not put NSFW content in my replies unless if stated that you can. * (Which will be mostly never) * I don’t want to be associated with it. It honestly discomforts me if somebody randomly associated me with smut & nudes without knowing. It just irks me thinking about it.
3. No slurs. Please. I find them very stupid and stressful to deal with. Regardless of race or heritage, I won’t allow it here. You will be blocked if provoked by me. You get two warnings.
4. Please don’t insult others in my replies. It’s unnecessary, opinions are opinions. Not facts. It’s my job to answer those, not yours. If you have questions over them, ask, don’t harass. Don’t be a prick. Gives you a very big reputation.
Although I won’t accept you guys just calling me out on my mistakes and expecting me to know what’s immediately wrong with it. That is rude and disrespectful towards the artist. At least give some feedback and reason why.
11. If someone sends something that offends please don't blow up at them and act they know it's not right or that they knew it would offend you, like with misunderstandings it's too dramatic to deal with. Also if they don't feel the need to explain just ignore them for a while, it they make you upset then don't talk to them.
Byeol’s Relationships: Maknae Line
HanByeol
Tumblr media
You know how people say jisung is Chan’s first kid? Yeah that
the same thing basically goes for byeol as well
As much as they clown each other jisung really values her opinions and always asks for it
Whether it be music, lyrics or anything else he always asks Byeol for her opinion
he hasn’t told her this before but he tried writing a song for Byeol to sing solo but he’s too shy about it
also another person she forces to go to bed bc 3racha can wait i’ll fight you all myself if i have to
She’s the sister he never knew he wanted
he gets really sad whenever he does something that disappoints her and doesn’t want her to have that facial expression again
he also very much is very greedy whenever he wants byeol’s love and affection
like what do you mean hyunjin is her favorite? that’s a lie
very clingy and likes to hug and hold her hand whenever they’re going somewhere
he denies it but jisung gets very pouty whenever he doesn’t get enough attention
you know thats ppl who go “Byeoooooooooool” when calling someone? he’s like that
byeol pretends to be annoyed but hasn’t done anything to stop it so everyone knows shes lying
ByeoLix
Tumblr media
byeol literally had to do a double take when she heard felix speak for the first time bc that face and voice did not match upon first glance
after that tho?
sun can’t compare with how much these two shine
she didn’t know what it was about Felix but she immediately wanted to become friends with him on sight
she wasn’t surprised at all when felix befriended chan even though chan had his whole dark and edgy persona
Byeol likes to call him her personal energizer
One time he made her brownies when she was on her period and she cried
They’re just so soft with each other it’s so sweet
She was so heartbroken when he got eliminated and needed a moment to take a break
She once again wanted to fight jyp when he came back
sometimes when he speaks english she repeats after him in tiny
Felix’s family jokes that she might be a lost Lee sister that they never knew they had and one of felix’s sisters said byeol might be replacing them
in another world, Lee Byeol would be the biological sibling to Felix
although she’s still very much like family to him even though not by blood :D
he’s very much the person who would go out and be like “Oh noona would like this” or “this reminds me of noona”, etc etc
they both have sections in the rooms of stuff they’ve both for each other
they giggle so much whenever they’re together its honestly so adorable
SeungByeol
Tumblr media
this guy right here
Surprisingly these two were very awkward when they first met
Seungmin thought Byeol had a certain aura to her that intimidated him so he felt a little uncomfortable
Byeol did her best to make him feel comfortable while also trying not to push boundaries
But it worked!!!
Sometimes Byeol jokingly says she regrets it bc now?
This boy takes any opportunity to tease her without fail much to her dismay
one little mistake and it wouldn’t be missed by this little shit
seungmin is literally “i can be your angle or i can be your devil” to her
but its all in good fun so she usually lets it go
top tier banter with the two of them and sometimes they don’t stop until someone pulls them apart
he called her cringe once and byeol has never felt more offended in her life
he really is the annoying yet endearing younger brother byeol didn’t know she wanted
whenever seungmin records byeol likes to sit in the recording room and listen bc she likes his voice a lot
seungmin thinks that the two of them have a nice mix of voices and want to do a cover together with jeongin
he likes hearing her sing and play piano bc its calming to him
just a typical sibling dynamic
JeongByeol
Tumblr media
Byeol’s baby!
She just has the urge to love and take care of the boy you know?
Does he take advantage of it? Depends on the day
byeol always make sure that jeongin is okay and that he knows he’s talented and worthy of being in the group and debuting
she always has this proud look on her face whenever he’s singing
she ruffles his hair and pinches his cheeks a lot like a grandma
sometimes byeol’s sister likes to joke that he’s basically replacing her as the younger sibling
its not yang jeongin anymore guys in lee jeongin
he accidentally called her mom once and everyone could not stop laughing for a whole five minutes
byeol is like an emotional pillar for jeongin to lean on whenever he needs to talk about anything
he’s the youngest so byeol knows that he needs to be taken care of
she makes sure his voice is always heard during interviews and hypes him up during variety shows
jeongin also returns the favor by doing things like pulling her away from crowds whenever she gets too far
she’s very much someone he looks up to bc he knows how difficult it is to be in this type of group
he has the mindset of “if its this hard for me, it must be harder on byeol” so he does his best to help byeol even if its the tiniest bit
🥀Inquiries🥀
°who runs this blog?
You people can call me Lisa/ Juni. I am an INFJ and I very much love aesthetic stuff (especially when it is vampire/ academia/nature). I also am very much obsessed with ferid bathory, nature and the entire goth subculture. Might not post as much due to personal reasons. I also feel like adding my age I am 18 years old and also since some people want to say my opinion isn't valid because I am apparently straight, I am a raging lesbian. If you are a woman in your 30ies hit me up please :3
When you do want to chat/ interact with me or this blog, please note:
🥀I do not tolerate hate speech. Hate speech such as racism, homophobia, antisemitism and making fun of mentally Ill/disabled people.
🥀Please respect my boundaries when it comes to venting. Please don't ,unless you ask me for permission whenever you plan on venting.
🥀When we do chat about Ferid, note that I might get defensive about certain topics that surround him. I don't like that he is being shipped, sexualised and his character getting butchered down.
Mainly because the ship is either illegal (aka. The yuu squad, mika, Krul),Proshipping [aka. Guren, Crowley or Saito-> they all have blood from the same person making them related. Plus I think if Crowley and Ferid would be in a romantic relationship, it would be toxic from both sides.
Also If we do talk about his sexuality, I will mainly base my reasoning off of what ferid said in the novel and how i interpret it. Because he is flirts with anyone I'd assume is a straight guy who is just a quite eccentric(like most straight men do.). And I want to make clear that I do not tolerate hate speech. We are having a discussion on a friendly basis. You don't need to get aggressive over a characters sexuality.
!!Please also note that I don't hate on you if you ship this, I am just uncomfortable with the ship. I do not know you as a person and therefore I feel it would be unfair to just judge based off of that.
🥀my other interests🥀
: Genshin impact
: Monster high
:Twisted Wonderland
:Ghost in the Shell
:Horizon Zero Dawn/ Forbidden West
:Maleficent
:Teen Titans (DC)
:dark myths and horror stories
:dark fantasy art
:Victorian art
What do I mainly post about?
Anything related to Ferid and to just appreciate his character :) Because the fandom is becoming tinier and Ferid isn't all too popular among the fandom, I think it's important that we can get the ferid simps together.
Maybe also about some other things but mainly Ferid
Chapter Thoughts: 370 — HIStory
Sorry for how late this one is, all. Between Spinaraki Week, Life In General, and having, holy crap, SO MUCH I want to talk about this chapter, I'm running a bit behind. I may come back to try to finish out some fills for the rest of Spinaraki Week eventually, but I wrote all my really burning ideas at the start, so my desire to get back to my reams of meta was much more pressing. I'll try to hit the ask backlog before the next big post! (As you might be able to guess, I'm going to have a lot to say about Chapter 371, too.)
That said, hey, guys, guess who’s in hella Talking Point instead of Bullet Point Mode this chapter; that’s right, it’s me.  WHAT a chapter.  I’ll work my way through it in a broadly chronological fashion; the big stuff starts in the third section.
Kurogiri At the Hospital:
The narration calls Kurogiri “the closest thing to a masterpiece out of all the High Ends,” and I wonder just whose value judgment that is?  After all, Kurogiri was completed years ago and Ujiko clearly isn’t the type to rest on his laurels.  He’s never called Kurogiri his masterpiece; indeed, he explicitly says Hood-chan and the other High Ends are his finest work to date.  So who else would talk about Kurogiri like that?
The narration tends to default to Deku, but it’s a weird statement to give to anyone other than AFO or Ujiko.  What exactly makes Kurogiri the nearest thing to a masterpiece in the narrator’s opinion, anyway?  His capacity for independent action is the only thing he really has up on his competition, and his independent action has been shut down since Aizawa and Mic pulled out the might-as-well-call-it-a-vestige of Shirakumo Oboro.
That’s a long-winded way of saying that if the story’s going to call Kurogiri the most advanced High End, the only thing Kurogiri can be said to be the best at is his ability to mimic a human being, so we’d damn well better see him getting another chance to do that as Kurogiri, not as the remnant of Shirakumo.
While we’re talking about Kurogiri, I do have to ask who tipped off AFO about his location and when.  Per Chapter 325, if you’ll recall, it was supposed to be a secret.(1)  Of course, AFO has ever so many conveniently placed friends who can do anything the plot needs them to do, but I can’t help but think that if he found out where Kurogiri was prior to this clash, he’d probably have done better to, I dunno, send in Toga or something, especially if he could have had her rendezvous with someone on the inside.
(Note that if we get AFO’s inside man next week, it will make for a nice parallel to Endeavor and company being greeted by their plant inside Jakku General Hospital in 259.  Since a certain 1-A student wants to bring up hospital raids and all.)
As to Present Mic thinking of Kurogiri solely as Shirakumo, I can only continue to hope that this stubborn refusal to acknowledge even the possibility that Kurogiri might in some way be a meaningful existence will be back to properly bite him and Aizawa in the ass.  The heroes have a consistent pattern of refusing to acknowledge the humanity in villains—their trauma, their motivations, their close relationships—beyond whatever little personal tidbit they trip over that they can’t look beyond.  I would very much love it if, with Kurogiri, we get a direct consequence of that via Kurogiri choosing the boy he basically raised for a decade+ over the school friends the person he was constructed from knew for like a year and a half.
In and About The Crowd:
First things first, I want to mention that I got a few asks about racism in response to the leaks for this chapter—one about the way the fandom talks about this plotline and one about how the story itself is handling it.  I do want to answer those, as I definitely have thoughts on both fronts (especially considering the content of Chapter 371), but I also want to do some research first.
If I haven’t said as much before, I’m white myself, so when I talk about these topics, I always want to make sure I’m doing so carefully and respectfully.  In the case of Rock Lock's role this week, that’s going to take me some time.  Be expecting an ask round-up about fandom shorthand, the iconography of the CRC, the heteromorphs shouting ignorance at Rock Lock, and anything else I get on that topic in the interim, sometime in early-ish November.
That said, this certainly is a crowd with some…accessories, isn’t it?  CRC heads on pikes!  Or possibly just masks, though if that’s the case, they’ve stuffed something else in there that fills the cowls out more than just the bare pole.
If it is just the masks, though, it’s in line with something the mob does three times in this chapter: unmasking.  They pull Koda’s mask and mouthguard off, tear the helmet off one of the police officers, and, of course, my favorite pint-sized firebrand consciously chooses to unmask himself.  The count goes up yet again if you include Shouji’s mask being torn apart, though in his case, it’s just the rigors of battle, not anyone specifically removing it.
(The above is another post I might write eventually on the extremely consistent pattern of heroes only being unmasked against their will, while villains—usually—choose when and under what circumstances to unmask themselves, and how that ties to the overarching themes of heroes staunchly resisting any sign of weakness while villains are more open to showing vulnerability, be it for the strategic value of doing so or out of a genuine desire to connect. Keep an eye out!)
On top of the crowd’s growing mask collection, they also have Spinner flags!  You love to see it.  Or you would, if Spinner weren’t in such dire straits right now.  I’d still buy one, though.
As to the actual characters present, it’s nice to see some familiar faces with the Spinner fanboys and the USJ guy, who’s particularly notable here for being the very first person in the series to use the term heteromorph.  He self-identified with it, exhibiting—at least on the surface—none of the distaste Spinner would later express for the word.
I’d love to know what the percentage breakdown is on this crowd’s membership.  We have dissatisfied civilians, PLF remnants and, as evinced by the USJ guy, also some prison escapees, for the completely wild total of 15,000 people.  While my primary response to that is, “I don’t think Horikoshi understands numbers very well,” taking it at face value, no matter how you cut the numbers, it is a bad look for the heroes.
I suppose we can assume there aren’t too many prison escapees here, since the narration didn’t even see fit to mention them as a factor, so that leaves mainly PLF and civilians.  So is what we have here mostly civilians—nearly fifteen thousand people willing to take their lives and their futures into their hands for this cause?  Or do we instead have many thousands of escaped PLF members, quite contrary to the pathetic number we were told were in the wind after the war arc?(2)  Or is it about half and half?
There’s no good answer!  It’s Real Bad no matter what!
That all said, we all know who I’m really here for, right?  Let’s talk about the returning PLFers.  (Alert: Incoming non-canonical advisor names.)
It’s long been eyebrow-raising to me that Spinner’s Number 2 advisor (hereafter called Scarecrow) does all the talking, while his Number 1 advisor (hereafter Nimble) never says a single word.  While I appreciate that it’s yet to joss my headcanon that she actually can’t talk because she doesn’t have a mouth, I would really like it if we could get some demonstration as to why she outranks her extremely verbal subordinate.
We saw her exactly once in this chapter, on the second page, advancing through the crowd just ahead of Spinner.  If she’s managed to keep up with him, this would seem to suggest that Shouji ought to be getting up close and personal with her next week, especially if the pattern of MLA types getting very angry when people attack their leaders holds (and it seems to be doing so; more on that below).  I’d be really quite happy to watch her and Scarecrow tag team this, with her taking on Shouji physically while Scarecrow fights him for the crowd’s morale.
(Edit in light of Chapter 371: *pause for bitter laughter*  Well, maybe she can be sneaking into the hospital instead.)
As to Scarecrow, while I didn’t get everything right, I’m thrilled that I did call him correctly as an insect heteromorph!  I initially thought that his hands and fingers looked the way they did because they were prosthetic replacements for missing limbs; now I think it’s just that they’re segmented in an insectile fashion.  Here, they look more consistent with the way his shoulder-mounted bug legs are drawn than they did at first,(3) and, with the clarity of the official scans, you can see that his knees and possibly his ankles are also segmented.
I love his row of mandibles, I love his head stripes (and wonder what color the anime will make them, since his coloring as of Season 6 Episode 2 is a very uninteresting light gray), and I have definitely noticed the prominent scar.
But enough about how Scarecrow looks.  Far more interesting are all the things he says.
Scarecrow’s Speech | Historical and Modern Discrimination:
Everyone and their mother has talked about the Star Wars references, and I don’t have enough Star Wars knowledge to say anything new or compelling there, save to note that the implications are incredibly grim.
Much more interesting to me is the variety of phrases that crop up this week in regard to heteromorphic discrimination.  The first of those was the phrase the Viz translation renders as “those who don’t fit the mold”—the same phrasing Re-Destro used when he was talking to Giran back in Deika about how societal mores lag behind the new reality of the world.  I immediately wanted to know if the wording was the same in Japanese as well, as that would be a good tell about how consistent the MLA messaging is.
Having checked the raws, as it turns out, the wording is completely different!  I can’t be mad, though, because the language Scarecrow’s using is exactly in line with a phrase I’ve been using in my (ongoing) evidence-gathering about heteromorphobia, and I love it when I’m right about things.
So, the phrase Scarecrow uses there is kotonaru katachi, katachi meaning form or shape, kotonaru meaning to differ/vary/disagree.  Thus, being more accurate to Scarecrow’s use of punctuation: “The history of the Paranormal is that of oppression of ‘differing forms.’”
This is important because one of the big gotchas a lot of people try to use to discredit this whole plotline is the protestation that people like Hawks and Jirou and Iida are all technically heteromorphs, and they aren’t being discriminated against, so clearly heteromorphobia is totally bogus.  If you look back through the series with Scarecrow’s phrasing in mind, however, the pattern becomes much clearer.  It isn’t about quirk types; it’s about body types.  There’s overlap between the two categories, the same way there’s overlap between heteromorphic quirks and “villain quirks”, but they’re distinct categories nonetheless.
Interestingly, if you look at the kanji—異なる形—the phrase is very close to the kanji used for “heteromorph”: 異形, igyou.  Literally all the phrase does is tack in some verb conjugation and use different readings of the kanji, and suddenly the whole tenor changes!
Speaking of igyou, though, for a chapter that’s all about anti-igyou discrimination, the term hardly crops up at all this week—even in the narration!  It calls the civilians there, “ordinary citizens who sympathize with [the PLF’s] cause.”  Scarecrow, as discussed above, uses “differing forms.”  There’s also a lot of “our kind” in the Viz release that’s implicit rather than explicit in the Japanese text (e.g. the old man who snarls at Koda calls him merely a traitor, not “traitor to your kind.”  But “heteromorph”?  It’s used exactly once: by one of the people throwing rocks at Shouji in his chapter-opening flashback.
Yikes.
The flashback people use much worse language than that, though, language the Viz translation particularly gets at it when it uses the word “defiled.”  As that word choice implies, the vitriol being hurled at Shouji in that scene is specifically telling of religious belief.  The two terms to consider are kegare (汚れ) and imi (忌み), both more tied up with Shinto practice than Buddhist.
Imi was translated simply as “dirty” in the line about “dirty blood.”  Online dictionaries give translations such as mourning, abstinence, or even holiness or religious purification, but the throughline—and another offered translation—is simply “taboo.”  Imi isn't necessarily a bad thing,(4) but it is that which is to be shunned and denied, especially in the context of religious rituals. It is clearly intended as a negative thing here, though!
Even more charged is kegare, a concept of spiritual uncleanliness that is thought to further be spiritually contagious, the sort of thing that can spread if not purified and/or contained.  Crucially, kegare is not nominally about moral failing necessarily; it’s not quite the same thing as sin.(5)  Kegare is a natural state that one picks up via exposure to things like death, disease, and waste, but also childbirth, menstruation, and so on.  Obviously, those are things that everyone is going to encounter eventually; the solution is appropriate acts of purification and boundary-setting.
…Except that’s just the party line on kegare.  People who have enough sustained exposure to sources of kegare—butchers, tanners, executioners, morticians—came to be considered incapable of purification, and so were classed prior to the pre-Meiji period as something very like an untouchable caste,(6) eventually coming to be called burakumin, and subject to severe discrimination in housing, marriage, and employment, as well as more generalized oppression that endures even today to those of burakumin lineage.
Shouji’s story here feels very akin to that.  The people hounding him are not doing so because of any exposure he’s had to a source of kegare, but because he himself is said source! If he personally is the source of the corruption—corruption that will spread to his entire village, spiritually polluting other people and even the land itself—that is not something that can be purified.  Rather, the only thing to be done is A) drive him away or B) force him to never leave his house.
More on this next chapter, where we get even more awful details.
The last bit of descriptive terminology I want to touch on is ”human-faced people.”  I’ll talk about it more in the ask round-up, but I’d really love to know where the phrase came from, in-universe.  The heteromorphs are human, too!  Therefore their faces must de facto be considered human faces!  But that Spinner fanboy sure is yelling it with enough vitriol to suggest that he doesn’t agree, and I wonder how many times he had to be told that himself to internalize it in such a raw way.
Terminology aside, what else can be gathered from Scarecrow's speech?  Well, one thing that stands out is the conflation of the history of quirks with the history of heteromorphic discrimination.  And he's obviously over-simplifying—there are emitters in some of those early images of meta-abilities, and there are cases where it can be difficult to tell transformers and heteromorphs apart when a transformer's quirk is active, so they'd have been targets as well.  Still, whether Scarecrow is omitting that because he's priming this specific crowd to be angry or because he truly believes it himself, the words are not entirely without basis.
I can't remember if I've talked about this before here, but something that's always been very striking to me about the timeline of quirk acceptance and historical villainy is the suggestion that the original Meta Liberation Army and the Creature Rejection Clan are contemporaries.  Both groups are dated to the period in which society was beginning to stabilize after the chaos of the advent of quirks.
So, while Destro and his cohort were getting angry about laws that would restrict the outside-the-home use of natural-born abilities to only those with a license, the CRC were getting angry about laws that would tacitly admit the equal humanity of people the CRC considered to be much less than human.  They started with protests, but soon moved into hate crimes, and in that, we get to something else that's very notable about the group: they were never banned.
The volume extra note on them says that, because people disapproved of their turn to violence, they lost popularity and splintered off into factions.  But this is a group that was and is committing hate crimes, that bases their whole identity around that hatred.  Why in heaven's name weren't they targeted legally?
Well, firstly, because while Japan has ways to limit the freedoms and financial prospects of certain groups (primarily organized crime and terrorist groups), it doesn't actually criminalize membership in such organizations.(7)  Still, there's no indication that even the controls the government can enact were ever utilized against the CRC—again, the thing that led to their diminished influence is simply that people at large thought they were going too far.
This, I think, is down to the other issue: Japan has basically no interest in anti-hate crime legislation.  From my research, there is exactly one federal law about hate crimes, one activists regard as woefully insufficient because it contained absolutely zero criminal provisions targeting offenders; the only things it actually required at the time of its ratification were that the government "begin implementing preventative measures"—things like community education or banning displays of hate speech/writing in public areas—as well as respond to "requests for consultation" from victims.  Consequences for offenders?  Absolutely none.
There have been one or two prefectures that have gone one small step farther in the institution of fines for repeat offenders, but one crucial thing that's nowhere to be found is one of the most basic features in hate crime legislation: the enactment of stricter sentencing guidelines for crimes proven to be committed due to demographic bias.
Finally, if those laws have remained unchanged in HeroAca Land Japan, none of them would protect heteromorphs anyway, because they're only aimed at discrimination against those of non-Japanese ethnicities!  Which plainly doesn't apply to ethnically Japanese heteromorphs!  Here again, we can connect heteromorphs to burakumin, who have only been granted legal equality (way back in the Meiji Era, when the laws declaring them a separate caste were repealed), but no greater legal protection.
Small wonder this crowd is so big.
Moving on, Nedzu's presence in that image of accepted-and-well-off heteromorphs is really fascinating—Nedzu is really fascinating.  Like, we know he has a nasty history with humans, and he certainly doesn't consider himself to be one of them, as we see when he talks about the various failings of humanity as a species.  But there he is, being considered a successful and integrated heteromorph.
And sure, by the base considerations that go into determining quirk type, he is a heteromorph: his body is permanently altered from the baseline state of his species(?) by his quirk.  But I wonder how much oversight he's subject to, what his citizenship (if he even has it) was contingent on, and stuff like that.  Nedzu feels very much like someone whose acceptance could be revoked at any time it became inconvenient, so he's worked hard to make himself as indispensable as he can.  And, in fact, he's done such a good job of it that he can even push back against government officials sometimes!
As the heteromorph giantess demonstrates, however, no matter how stable such positions seem, there's always a level of chaos that can destabilize them.  (More on her next time.)
As a final note on the content of Scarecrow's speech, I will point out that we can see just a smidge of his MLA origins here.  He doesn't ask for justice or reparations; what he says Spinner and this movement will do is lead heteromorphs to "prominence in society."  It's not enough that they be equal; they have to be, if you will, the new main characters.
That aaaaall said, let's turn to Shouji's response.
Shouji’s Response:
It’s a mess.  The whole scene is, but since I’m running behind, I’ll save the full breakdown on why for next time, as 371 will round out Shouji’s response somewhat more than just the little we get here.  Focusing just on that little opening, then, let’s break down—as a lot of people already have—the fallacies involved here.  Because there are a ton of them in only the one penultimate page, holy shit.
“What’s any of that got to do with attacking a hospital?”
Shouji, please.  Spinner said it right before you hit him with a x8 punch multiplier: they’re here for Kurogiri, without whom they won’t win this, and society won’t change.  It’s the exact same reason the heroes raided a hospital at the start of the last arc; they believed that securing the creator of the Noumu was an essential part of guaranteeing their victory.
The villains are not just attacking a hospital for kicks; they are doing it to secure a valuable strategic asset.  And it’s not as if this hospital is completely defenseless, so the heroes can’t claim ignorance of this outcome!  They saw an attack coming because an attack was easy to predict, and they chose to leave Kurogiri here anyway, rather than—at least temporarily—moving him back to more secure holding.
That doesn’t magically make the people who masterminded this attack blameless, of course, but the heroes do have to take some of the responsibility here for the same reason UA had to take responsibility for Bakugou’s kidnapping(8) and police had to do the same for the League’s highway attack on the convoy transporting Overhaul.
Bakugou’s safety was UA’s responsibility just as much as a prisoner’s safekeeping is the responsibility of the state once they’re in custody.  That’s why it’s called custody—because it confers custodianship.
“Back in Jaku, the first thing the heroes did was take action to make sure the patients and staff were safe.”
Tumblr media
No.  No, it was not.  In fact what happened was that they stormed the building without warning with part of the team dedicated to evacuation and the other part dedicated to securing Ujiko.  The two teams took action simultaneously.  They didn’t even have everyone out when they confronted Clone!Ujiko in the middle of a hallway within line of sight of two innocent (and clearly not notified of the ongoing evacuation!) staff members. They still didn’t have everyone out when the Noumu came up through the floor.
The fact is, the heroes couldn’t spring their trap with a more generous lead time to guarantee civilian safety because doing so would have tipped off Ujiko.  And, indeed, given that Ujiko was already talking about the heroes' presence when the POV cut to the real man in the lab, he clearly did get tipped off, though the story doesn’t say how exactly.
*** Minor tangent:
I might guess he found out via Mandalay’s telepathy, but, again, it didn’t seem like the pair of staff members that came to his defense had been notified of an emergency, which suggests the telepathic message only initially went out to the people in the immediate lobby, rather than "everyone on the premises except Garaki Kyudai the clone I have mistaken for Garaki Kyudai."
When I worked at a hospital, there were emergency codes for various circumstances; I would think something like that being called would be the immediate reaction to a bunch of heroes showing up and saying to evacuate the building, and yeah, of course a facility-wide evacuation code would do the trick for alerting him!
Frankly, it’s a heap of nonsense that the heroes got everyone out as quickly as they did.  For heaven’s sake, given Mirko’s speed and the ease with which she ripped through the Noumu in the basement, it cannot possibly have been more than ten minutes between her leaping through the main entrance and her kicking down Ujiko’s front door, and Mandalay reported a completed evacuation mere moments after that.  The hospital is four stories with at least two sizeable wings, and given that it was the middle of the day, it’s very likely that there would have been surgeries and other such procedures in progress.  Unless the heroes snuck Quicksilver onto their team, evacuation categorically could not have happened in ten or so minutes.
But, me griping about how flawlessly the heroes’ raid plans tend to go off given the hurdles they ought realistically to be facing is not new. I now return to the rest of the chapter post. ***
Shouji, in any case, wasn’t at the hospital, so his word on what the heroes did is unreliable.  The students didn’t even know what they were doing at the start of that day, so anything he knows about the details of the Jakku raid is going to rely on hearsay from classmates or the media, none of whom were in the hospital advance team, either.
Moving back to the hospital currently in question, I have to ask Shouji how much authority over the space does he think a mob of 15K people actually has?  Even though the Jakku team wasn’t holding the building to start with, they still had the societal cachet to walk unimpeded into a bustling hospital, say, “Everybody out,” and be listened to with minimum fuss and maximum police backup.
The mob, conversely, is attacking a building from which they are being vigorously denied entry.  Their number is composed of malcontents and villains, people who have no authority to make any demands of those inside the building save whatever obedience they can brute force their way into commanding with numbers and threats.
And even so, you know what the mob spends most of the chapter saying?  Spoilers: it’s not screaming for blood and vengeance.  They have a few very common refrains—make way, clear a path, push the enemy back.  When they come up against Rock Lock, there are calls to get his hands, to tie him up.  Their intent is to restrain him, not to kill him, not even to knock him out!  When the crowd briefly overwhelms Koda, the elderly beaked heteromorph does nothing but tear off the kid’s mask and call him a traitor.
I’m not saying no one would get killed in the case of a villain victory; certainly, when violence has already broken out and emotions are running that high, with so many angry people there, it’s entirely likely that things would continue to escalate (though if Scarecrow were able to continue rallying the crowd, he would likely be able to direct them somewhat(9)).  Still, Shouji asks what their plan is to avoid innocent suffering, and I would point out that their modus operandi seems to be to not inflict undue suffering even on the people actively opposing them, much less the civilians inside!
No, one thing changes the mood of the crowd for the worse, and that’s Shouji’s attack on Spinner.(10)
That’s when the content of the cries suddenly gets more bloody-minded, calling explicitly for death, just like back in Deika when the MLA rank-and-file would go nuts when their leaders were attacked.  (Though, honestly, Spinner’s guesses back then notwithstanding, it’s not like that’s so strange or cult-like.  Attacking leaders of social or political movements directly is always going to piss off their followers.  Feels a bit like a foul, you know?)
I don’t have a lot to say about Spinner this week, because frankly the situation with him is just too damn depressing.  More on that—and on the matter of who’s expected to plan and who gets away without plans—next time.
“Do you have a plan here?  Because if not, I won’t let this stand!”
“I won’t let this stand” lolol does that mean Shouji would let this stand—just step back and roll out the red carpet for them—if they did have a plan?
Well, no, because his actual line there is the well-worn, “I won’t forgive you.”  According to Translator Sis, it’s kind of a Whole Thing in the American translator community that no one wants to just translate that line straight, so you see all kinds of weird permutations to get around it.  I'd venture to guess this is because the phrase has Cultural Baggage in Japanese that it lacks in English; I remember reading once, years ago, that the reason Sailor Moon concludes her speech every episode with, "I won't forgive you!" is that forgiveness is considered a Very Big Deal in Japan.
Of course, I should think forgiveness is a pretty big deal in most parts of the world, but Japan values societal harmony very highly, so yeah, I can see that declaring one's refusal to forgive someone (et tu, Natsuo?) would be regarded as a very grave statement indeed.
(More on that next time, too.)
Stray Notes:
O  The chapter opens with, “Turning back the clock a bit…” and it strikes me that there’s not much point in turning back the clock if Spinner isn’t going to win here.  I mean, I obviously thought that already—there are far too many loose plot threads on this battle for it to be wrapping up yet—but as VFO foreshadowed last chapter, I think we must be right on the cusp of a shift in fortunes.
After all, if Spinner and the rest were just going to be defeated here, it wouldn’t matter that all this was happening slightly earlier than the (seeming) climax of ShigAFO’s defeat.  So while things look dire here, and look even worse in 371, I’m all but positive at this point that the hospital fight will represent the tides turning again.  We wound back the clock so that no one would be confused when Kurogiri and whoever-all else teleport into the middle of the UA battlefield right where we left Deku and ShigAFO last time.
O My schadenfreude at the police and Rock Lock’s complaints about how organized the mob is cannot be overstated.  Lolol, “There’re only 200 of us, we’re so short-handed, and they’re so mean for splitting us up, weeeeh!”  YEAH, THAT’S HOW IT FEELS.  SUCKS WHEN THE ENEMY SPLITS UP YOUR FORCES AND CUTS YOU OFF FROM BACKUP, DUNNIT?
O A point to Horikoshi.  I’ve been complaining for months now that the alleged shortage of heroes is empty talk because Team Hero still always had all the people they could ever need to attack and defend all their objectives.  Well, here we finally, finally have a shortage that matters: not enough people to defend Kurogiri is going to mean they fail to defend Kurogiri, with all the consequences that come after.  It’s about time.
O Koda is a sweetheart, and he doesn’t deserve to be called a race class allegorical discrimination victim traitor to his face.  I do, however, feel less bad for him in the wake of 371 than I did just after this chapter.
O The blood splashed on the ground is an evocative touch, and I particularly like the panel layout of Scarecrow, arms up and reciting his toll of grievances as the image of the crowd he’s talking to today gives way to that image of spilled blood, and then to a crowd from times past, where heteromorphs are on the opposite end of the violence, and then even further to the image of the surface peace people fool themselves into believing exists today.
It’s really excellent in the way that it matches Scarecrow's verbal addressing of all this—the crowd, the history, the social veneer—with an image of his visually addressing it.  He’s even the only one who isn’t contained in a panel, the ledge he’s standing on jutting out subtly in front of the other images, giving the impression that he’s standing in front of this gallery of horrors and explaining them to an audience like a particularly fire-and-brimstone museum guide.
Fantastic work!
O In terms of translation, I don’t love the choice to render Spinner’s broken language as caveman-speak.  I realize that it’s not really possible to get at the same effect in English—indeed, it wouldn’t be possible to get across the effect in spoken Japanese, either!  Still, I think a closer equivalent would be to leave Spinner’s language as-is, but spell it all phonetically, like a grade-schooler trying to write words they’ve heard but haven’t learned how to spell yet.  That’s a much closer replica of the way regular kanji are broken down into their component sounds or the wrong system of writing is used.
O With Scarecrow waving Spinner onward like that, I have to wonder how cognizant he is of Spinner’s dysfunction, and what he thinks of it if he does know?  Next week’s chapter is unclear on this as well.
O Someone please save me from civilians standing around with slack looks of shock on their dumb faces the moment a hero makes an ill-considered rhetorical point.  Cripes, I’m so tired of civilians in this story not being allowed to have opinions, beliefs, or motivations that are well-considered enough to stand up to a single conversational parry.
----FOOTNOTES----
1:  So much a secret that Horikoshi himself hadn’t figured it out at first, judging by Kurogiri’s presence in Tartarus circa Chapter 297.
2: “Gigantomachia’s rampage allowed one hundred and thirty-two of them to escape.  Their bases scattered around the country were hit too, and the sympathizers were rounded up.”
3:  In his villa raid appearances, his shoulder-mounted bug legs and his hands looked different enough that I didn’t read them as being of the same material.  In particular, the segments of his bug legs had a very ball-and-socket joint look, whereas his hands and fingers looked connected by cables in between their individual segments.
4:  I might compare a sacred avoidance to, say, the Jewish prohibitions on how the names of God are to be written or not written.
5:  Tsumi would be a better word for that concept.
6: There's a certain amount of scholarship around exactly how the burakumin came to be, and to what degree their status was as a result of a sincere belief in kegare or more political in nature. Much of said scholarship is paywalled or in Japanese, but from what I can find, kegare was certainly used as a justification, even if there were other factors in play at the time.
7:  Largely because the idea of giving the government the power to start reenacting the March 15 Incident is massively unpopular with the voter base.
8:  It shares a lot of circumstances with that, in fact.  Both the location of the training camp and Kurogiri being moved to Central Hospital were supposed to be cloaked in secrecy.  Both the training camp and Kurogiri were recognized as possible targets.  The training camp attack involved the villains getting information from an inside source, which is likely how AFO found out Kurogiri’s location as well.
9:  Direct them to do what?  Well, he’s got no reason other than crowd morale management to spare the hospital’s defenders, but much less reason than that to call for anything very awful to be done to the hospital’s civilian occupants.  I’d have said the same thing about Hose Face bringing up Midnight’s death, though, so far be it for me to deny the possibility of nonsensical cruelty from the villains Horikoshi isn’t asking us to care about.
10:  In fairness, because Spinner is about to crush a pair of cops with his Mega Sword-Sword.  Spinner is not thinking straight enough to be thinking at all about incapacitation versus maiming versus death; he’s just cutting a path ahead.
