Daphne Blake is one of the few characters young girls got to grow up with and see as a 'girly girl' without her being villainised and I love her. I love her love for makeup and fasion and style. She was all of these feminine things yet kind. Always kind. The 'popular rich girl' archetype but without her being cruel and a bully. Just think about Mean Girls (I know that's teen but you get me). There was a rise of the Tomboy archetype Vs the Girly Girl's archetype for years in childrens/teenage/young adult movies and shows. For some reason there was a belief that a show couldn't have a balance. That girls couldn't be different or would hate each other. That to embrace the idea of girls who don't always like being feminine, you had to shove down the Girly Girls to make room. It encouraged that idea that girls with more 'masculine traits' are more respectable than those who are more feminine.

Femininity has been villainised for centuries, and anyone who loves fasion and makeup was always dubbed as stupid. She completely defied all of that. Beautiful, traditionally feminine and genuinely loved traditionally feminine things, yet fiery, passionate, clever, and kind. In the majority of shows, a girl like Daphne would've grimaced at characters like Velma and Shaggy, she probably would’ve only liked Freddy. But she repects all of them highly, and loves them, and recognises them all as wonderful people, each with something to bring to the group. She wants people to be themselves and doesn’t judge people for it. She also raises Velma up as a fellow woman rather than brings her down for being different. They share that sisterhood and womanhood that so many children's shows, and even adult shows, can lack. She includes Velma into the things she loves rather than excludes her (In the live actions, she gives Velma a makeover, even if for a mission) and offers her advice (In Mystery Incorporated with the Shaggy drama), and is always supportive of Velma (The newer show when Velma has a crush on a girl). She's like the Barbie of Scooby Doo.

Note: I'm aware she's been jealous of other girls at times over Fred but 1) Some of these moments could be written by male writers which changes things, and 2) I also don't think that's necessarily a bad thing rather than a realistic character. Character's have flaws. She's not perfect and that's what makes her a good character. She hasn't been downright toxic about it (Which I'd be less inclined to argue against), just frustrated. Her Hex Girl's Arc has a grip on me. Women supporting women my beloved. I will say, however, I think she deserved a more personal arc in Mystery Incorporated, for example, than just pining over Fred, even if I ship them. She deserved to have more of her character explored without it relying on a male character. It seemed male written, though I don't actually know that, but also it may have helped any young girls in the same situation deal with it in a healthy way and try to find other things to make them happy like Daphne did with the Hex Girls, so who knows. Balance is the key. I am reciting this from memory though so she could havre more plot arcs and such, but that was the one I mainly remember. I do wanna rewatch it tho. It slapped and I never fully finished it because. I was a child. Anyway-

Daphne has personality, people have just been made to believe that the things she loves that form her personality are the enemy as they're associated with women, and society has forever been built around the idea that women are the enemy. It's a belief that stems from taught societal misogyny. It's simply misogyny to say she is 'basic/dumb/has no personality' just because she leans into the more 'cliche' ideas of what young women love.

Daphne Blake is a Girl's Girl, no matter what 'type' of girl that girl is, and I adore her.

What I love most about Gandalf big naturals is how much it eases my chest dysphoria. I can sleep without a shirt on now because of Gandalf Big Naturals. Knowing that the artist made the original image while recovering from top surgery and said the image was like a final parting gift from their boobs makes me feel even better about the image's effect on me. Men with big naturals makes me feel much more good about my body than those old posts on here that were like "trans men! Some men have pecs!!! So don't feel dysphoric <3". It's much more meaningful to see a hairy, bearded man with a huge H cup rack not letting his tits get in the way of his masculinity.

Most of all, Gandalf Big Naturals helped me love my body the way it is instead of hating something that's a part of me. Of course I still want top surgery but the fact that I can live with my own big naturals until then without wanting to guillotine them off is really important.

in internet posts it is easy to cut them out of your life. they are hurting you! they aren't listening to you!

they held your hair back. they lent you lipstick. they held your hand at the train station and got you home safe. they rounded on your bully, got loud, said get fucked, spitting-mad in your defense.

they also cut the hair off again. told you that you should really think twice before wearing something like that. took you for granted. took your insecurities and threw them in your face again.

you know logically it should be easy. all the internet advice comments always read it will feel better. like an equation - if a person is rotten, you just remove them. you pull the tooth that's hurting.

but it was never a big flare-up moment. you don't live in a sitcom. they never tried to take your boyfriend or steal from your apartment. they showed up to birthdays and they wrote songs about you and bring you water without you asking. once you found out they carry an emergency inhaler for you, even though you haven't had an asthma attack in years - just in case.

where is the line? people fuck up. sometimes they fuck up badly. sometimes people have raw personalities, like a powerline, and being around them is dangerous. addicting. sometimes they can't help themselves, but you know they're trying. sometimes they are just rough-around-the-edges. sometimes they don't even realize how they sounded when they said that. sometimes it's just - you've both loved each other for so long now, the way this thing hurts goes back to the root.

and that's the fucked up part. you have pushed your fingers against the sweetheart of memory. things these days are electric, tense, harrowing. they didn't used to be. there were a lot of good days in there. sometimes you want to just close your eyes and say can this be over yet? do we still need to be fighting?

doing that would give up any chance you get of getting an apology, but you don't always know that you need an apology, you love them. once they flaked on your birthday party. once they told you to get over it, people are always dying. they also let you crash on their couch for a week after the breakup, handfeeding you when you were so sad you couldn't eat. they are also judgmental about everything, occasionally react to banal statements with an attitude that is weird and fiery. they also love you like a lighthouse sometimes, so strong they cut the storm like lightning.

but the problem is that you might be storm. you might be the thing that needs breaking. what if you are two forces who are desperately, horribly drawn to each other, shaped by the other person's passions, and both good for each other and bad in equal measure.

what if you're both just people, and you're no saint neither.

just cut them off! swallowing the saltwater, you catch yourself in the mirror. you've been shaking more than usual. there's an ache in you that is oblique, loud, impossible to soothe. is this what it looks like? when life is "easier"?
