I dare you!
Top 10 Donald Duck Pairings!
The people deserve to know! >:3
Okay, I'll be answering this but I'm limiting the ships to two person ships because I have my own set of Poly ships and we're just gonna have repeat characters on the list. The number 1 spot is easy: DonZe or (Donald Duck x Jose Carioca)
Number 2: DonMick (Donald Duck x Mickey Mouse)
Number 3: DonChito (Donald Duck x Panchito Pistoles)
Number 4: DonReg (Donald Duck x Reginella)
Number 5: DonGlad (Donald Duck x Gladstone)
Number 6: DUno/DonOdin (Donald Duck x Uno/Odin)
Number 7: Single Parents / DonRaider (Donald Duck x Red Raider)
Number 8: DonGlom (Donald Duck x Flintheart Glomgold)
Number 9: DonGoof (Donald Duck x Goofy Goof)
Number 10: DonMIn (Donald Duck x Minnie Mouse)
Honorable Mentions:
DonRo (Donald Duck x Gyro) RockaDon (Donald x Rockhead Rooster) DonMad (Donald Duck x Mad Ducktor) Donthan (Donald x Gorthan) DonXad (Donald x Xadhoom) DonKay (Donald x Agent Kay K) Donsy (Donald x Daisy SPECIFICALLY their dynamic from the MIckey Mouse shorts) I would say that I think doing a top 10 doesn't justify how much I like these ships only because I brainrot for them at certain times and would do several pieces. Like the gap between Top 1 and Top 2 for example are almost non-existent and they can easily share a spot. I also REALLY love DonRo but I also love a lot of other ships so it's sad seeing it not even having a top 10 when I've drawn quite a bit of it. If it's anything I need to draw some DonReg and DonMin.
#Thoughts#Dio's Top 10 Ships#DonZe#DonMick#DonChito#DonReg#DonGlad#DUno#DonUno#DonOdin#Single Parents#Red Raider#DonGlom#DonGoof#DonMin#DonRo#I didn't draw the one for Minnie and Reginella.

DUCK TIMELINE ACCORDING TO ME
(au? idk all of its "canon" but I'm picking and choosing and altering a lil)
•Abner is born first, then Donald and Della, Gladstones a little younger than them (like a year?) then Fethry. I think it makes sense for Abner to be the oldest since he doesn't really hang out with everyone else, maybe thats because of the age gap ya know.
•They all meet up and spend every summer at Grandmas farm. I think Abner preteen/teen stage kinda stops going, he has other things he'd rather do.
•As for everyone's relationships at this stage, Donald and Della get along fairly well, they're usually by each other sides. They have different interests tho, Donald wanting to be a sailor and Della a pilot. Gladstone and Donald are always fighting (obviously), I think Della and Gladstone have a pretty neutral relationship. Fethrys the baby and Abner doesn't want to play with the younger kids (they're lame) but probably has a soft spot for Fethry.
•I like to think Gyro and Donald knew each other as kids too. This is largely based on that one Don Rosa comic that introduces little helper (?).
•As a kid Donalds grandpa Humpsadink(?) dies. I'm not 100% on everyone's names in english, but I think thats his name.
•Donald and Della meet their uncle Scrooge once (1) and Donald kicks him for being mean to his parents. Scrooge enters rich old man isolation.
•As preteens Della and Donalds parents die and they move in with Grandma Duck permanently. In the comics I usually see Donald raised by Grandma Duck and that raises so many questions for me. Are Hortense and Quackmore dead? extremely busy? And wheres Della?? I wanted to include Donald living at Grandma Ducks farm because its canon in a lot of comics, so this is my solution.
•Some time later Gladstones parents die and Matilda & Ludwig adopt him. Not entirely sure ab this, but I'll go with it. This is based on Don Rosas plans for the family tree, he decided against it but there's nothing really contradicting it so. Here it is. I also just really want Ludwig on the tree (cause I like him), so him being married to Matilda works out.
•Donald and Della grow up and move out. Donald becomes a sailor and Della a pilot. Donald travels the world and meets José and Panchito, and his spanish(?) ex-girlfriend Donna (I don't know if everyone knows who this is but shes in a short and some comics). Basically he's living his best 20s life abroad. When hes not traveling for work, Donald lives in a little houseboat.
•At this point Donald and Della have grown apart, they've got their own lives now and don't see each other much. Still love each other obviously.
•Della gets pregnant and the father walks out on her. Donald is of course furious at this guy but Della says he's not worth it. Donald makes sure to visit more often.
•Della has Huey, Dewey and Louie. Donald sees 'em a couple of times when hes not on a ship.
•Della Amelia Earharts when HDL are like, 5. Donald races home when he hears the news and is absolutely devastated. He decides he needs to pull himself together and gets custody of HDL. He quits being a sailor and starts taking up odd jobs. Sells his houseboat and gets a real house (probably with some help from the family, excluding Scrooge cause he's still in rich old man isolation).
•HDL begin acting up, because they miss their mother, and, sure, they know unca Donald, but he's also not someone they're used to seeing. I imagine having your mom go missing and then having to live with your uncle you barely know at 5 would traumatize you a little. And Donalds trying his best, but up until now he's been a sailor traveling the world and is not equipped to deal with children. Especially when he's dealing with his own grief. (His twin is missing, presumed dead. His twin who'd always been with him. Someone he thought couldn't leave.)
•HDL join the junior woodchucks and that helps them settle a little. Donalds learning to be a parent and things are looking up. I think he starts seeing Daisy somewhere around here.
•Scrooge exits rich old man isolation by inviting Donald and the boys to christmas. (that one Carl Barks comic) (you know with the bears)
And with that I think we're up to date? I might have forgotten somethings but I'll have to add them later. Feel free to comment with your own thoughts and headcanons, and do tell me if I missed something.

Have you ever watched Ducktales, both the original and the reboot? If so, what do you think of both shows?
I did watch the '90s however I actually prefer 2017 over the '90s version 2017 is an absolute gem just like the '90s version it took the 90s version and helped really flesh everything out it felt like the old duck Comics that they used to have only an animated form
And I love how they developed Donald so well as basically the boys's father he was not only Uncle Donald but he was also dad and Della bringing in Della I thought that there would be issues but I liked her character however I really do think that they still had some things they needed to sort out with her character because she was still playing the role of I'm your best friend rather than actually being their mom.
And for anybody who says the Webby Scrooge daughter thing isn't good I actually really really like that plot twist it felt fresh and original instead of oh the parents are dead or the parents are villains or something similar
And for those complaining because of the shipping, the directors did tell you to stop or that you shouldn't, because they knew from the very beginning that they were going to place Webby in that position but y'all didn't want to listen so you get to deal with the consequences.
I just wish we could have gotten another season to see that develop

okay I have been. holding this in for so long
my feelings on Della Duck
okayokay I recognise that I am biased bc of my daddy issues, I am in no way denying that - this is not fact, just 1000% my OWN personal feelings on Della and her character in the reboot
idk how to add the read more I’m so sorry
so basically. I don’t like her. as you could probably tell. BUT I WANT TO SM. SERIOUSLY. LIKE SHE’S SPUNKY, SHE’S HILARIOUS, HER RELATIONSHIP WITH DONALD IS EVERYTHING TO ME
but the way her basically abandoning the triplets is never explored properly, and how she takes over Donald’s role as main caretaker, never addressing the extreme responsibility of taking care of children (even with Scrooge, who is still notoriously difficult to work with) that was dumped on them, even unintentionally
I think her arc could’ve been SO good. women are never allowed to make mistakes and own them in media. like Marinette in MLB being a huge creep never being addressed. or Wanda Maximoff barely getting a slap on the wrist after enslaving an entire town
I don’t think Della is a bad person, as we see she really didn’t mean to leave her family, but like. even if it was a mistake, she still went on that rocket ship. no one bribed or forced her (even if Bradford pushed her towards it, he didn’t hold a gun to her head to step onto the ship) but she still did it, KNOWING SHE HAD EGGS AT HOME.
and if they just ADDRESSED all this shit in the show, and at least had her realise how much damage she caused, even unwittingly, I would’ve been more lenient
her being a bad parent being somewhat explored (barely imho, she just releases a monster and they fight it together and wow we’re fine now) and the expectations Dewey puts on himself to be a badass adventurer, or Huey being pressured to leave his comfort zone, or Louie not connecting with her at all, all these issues could’ve been genuinely good arcs, but they’re all poorly handled in my opinion (except for Dewey, I do like the episode where Della tells him he doesn’t need to be some cool explorer for her to love him, ONLY THAT ONE THO)
don’t even get me started on the time travel shit with Louie. yes he should’ve been punished, but with all the extenuating circumstances, IT SHOULD NOT HAVE BEEN DELLA, and it CERTAINLY SHOULD NOT HAVE BEEN LEAVING HIM IN AN EXPERIMENTAL DEATH TRAP WHILE THEY RUBBED SALT IN THE WOUND BY GOING ON THE ONE ADVENTURE HE WOULD’VE ACTIVELY LIKED
and how all the issues with Donald how they immediately reconciled and (at least onscreen) never talked abt everything (or ANYTHING tbh) and instead just “omg we miss each-other and that makes everything okay yay”
anyways that’s a very condensed version of all my shit on Della Duck.
tldr; she could’ve been so good, if they just put more time into unwrapping her and having her basically redeem herself
if I ignore all of that tho, I can mostly enjoy her in episodes. the mermaid one, absolute comedy gold when she’s doing the tic tac toe thing, made me choke

Please 27 about Donaisy! I really like one artist on instagram whose OС is their daughter, it's so cute, I really started ship this couple thanks to her and you too :)
Well, I'm glad that I've been an influence in shipping this wholesome ship!
27. Do they have kids? Grow old together? Split up?
Obvously, they have May and June. These two are their daughters and if anyone implies otherwise, they will face the combined fury of Daisy and Donald Duck. In other words, they will not have a good time.
Also, Donald had Huey, Dewey and Louie who are still his kids, as much as they are Della's. He knows it, Della knows it, the triplets know it and Daisy knows it. Daisy is definitely an aunt-figure to the triplets but just as fiercely protective of them as she is of May and June.
Now, I'm still not sure whether I see them having kids in the future. I kind of have two HCs, one where they "only" have May and June and another where they end up having more kids. I'm kind of leaning towards the other, but I'm still split on that issue.
If they do end up having kids, it would be a few years after they adopted May and June. The girls are by that point well-integrated into the family, all the kids are around the age when they should start college. This would not be a planned pregnancy, but it wouldn't be an unwanted one either. And, to make matters better, it's twins.
At first, they would be unsure about keeping them. They are in their forties already, their family is big enough as it is and Daisy has a history of pregnancy complications in her family. However, they would end up keeping the babies after a lot of long talks with each other, May and June, Huey, Dewey and Louie and the rest of the family. The support network that they have is what plays a very important role in their final decision.
They would end up having a boy and a girl. Not sure about the names, though.
The boy would be older by almost 24 hours. Actually the twins do end up having diffeent birthdays.
He takes after Daisy, both in terms of interests and personality. He is fierce, outspoken, and neat, he knows what he wants from day one. Not particularly big on great outdoors, though. Just like his parents, he can quickly get angry but cools off just as easily.
The girl is arguably the quietest member of the McDuck clan ever. Not prone to anger, shy and observing. She expresses interest in art and music early on, and, unlike her brother, she likes being in nature and does not mind dirt. The only person she bickers with regularly is her twin, and if you somehow manage to make her angry, then you must've royally screwed up.
Whatever the case is, Donald and Daisy grow old together. They can be a bickering, old, married couple but they still love each other very much. They are surrounded by their family and grandkids. Even at the age of 80, they still walk down the street holding hands, and they are what those people who want long-lasting marriage look at as "couple goals". They are that old couple that dances on the pier to the sound of live music from a local bar.

Let's do this. One last time.
Ducktales 2017. I didn't think I was ready for the end, but the finale was too perfect to be sad nor angry.
There's so much to say-too much to say...and I'm going to try my best to say all of it.
EVERYONE IS HERE!! ENDGAME WHO?! DUCKTALES!!!!!
Seeing Webby and Scrooge interactions now, after watching this once, is just-They're So Soft! AND everything is just-AH I love it. It's so weird, but when is the family tree not screwy(also, Webby=Scrooge's clone? Webby=female? Trans Scrooge=Cannon?! I think Fucking So!)
Aaaaaaannd that's all we get from Gladstone and Fethry. If there's one thing I wish was in this episode more it would be more cousin interactions and Daisy. Though, Daisy not being too into it makes sense. Loved what we got of her tho. At least we got a little bit of them this episode, it was already pretty character packed
Well...Launchpad is only half wrong.
Oh wow. Oh Wow, I love this dynamic between LP, Drake, and Fenton...ot4? because I refuse to leave Gandra out. I love how Drake doesn't know about Fenton and Gizmo while it seems like everyone else in the world does. Still, LP/Drake and Gandra/Fenton some of my faves. So good
OH YEAH! Even the other 2 Caballeros are here!!
And the last adventure STARTS
I find it Fantastic how Dewey and Launchpad will probably die thinking F.O.W.L used the last level of a videogame as their secret layer layout
*sigh* This is why I avoid previews and wish I was better at avoiding theories from after those previews. I would have been more surprised and probably would have enjoyed this ep even more if I had Nothing to expect. But the theories were right. Tho, I did not expect how (or should I say Who) Webby was cloned from...though also I was spoiled by that when I was looking for the ep. Some ass used "Scrooge is Webby's dad" as a video title. I didn't think it was real, but I was wrong.
Awwww. Don has such a soft spot for kids
I love Lena and her development.
...*sigh* ok. "you've already got sisters" with this line, I am obligated to drop the Webby/Lena ship. I'm sorry, but it's one of my many rules for being ok with a ship. If the characters Ever say, even just once as an afterthought, they see each other as siblings or something similar, I will see them as that. It's why I've never been ok and have been uncomfortable with Shiro/Keith since Keith saved Shiro from...his clones...huh. So, from now on, I'm going to be Very uncomfortable with anything Weblena...even though the thought of them in the future was cute
HOW does a show about building ottomans have plot???
I wasn't sure how to feel about the clones All throughout this
OOOOOOOOOOOOOO HUEY JUST FIRST NAMED BEAKLEY!!!!!
GOLDIE AND DAISY ARE ON THE BOARD!!! SCORE!!
Oooooh. That picture of Webby's parents...is fake. It's like some picture Beakley took off the internet.
I saw a post saying how Della had to convince Donald to go on one last adventure and how she had to watch him almost die, but she really Didn't. She helped him pack and she was ready to let Donald go on his adventure("but Daisy's my adventure" They are too damn cute for their own damn good. I love them. donsy for the win), but an actual Crisis came up and he had to stay. Donald nearly dying by void was not Della's fault and if I see any more posts about how she roped Donald into a death mission, I will go up a wall and break a neck on my way down
Man, it's weird hearing this and knowing that Webby's parents don't exist
Wow! Beakley just knocked out Scrooge! Damn!
Oooh! The girls are fighting
...Woah. I just realized, the blood and brain of Scrooge McDuck and the training of Bentina Beakley. Webby is even more of a beast than we knew.
IS THAT DEVELOPMENT I HEAR!!! YOU KEEP THOSE KIDS BEHIND? YOU LOSE!!! GOOD DAY SIR!
Pepper. Just Pepper. She seems like one of your parent's nice coworkers that brings you brownies and pinches your cheeks
"Look after your brother." YOU HAVE NO IDEA HOW MUCH I JUST WANNA-AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! DADRO YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!! IT IS OFICIALLY BOYD GEARLOSE NOW!! YEEEEE!!!!
I also really like that you can't tell which Gyro is telling that to
God, I Fucking Love the concept that is Manny. He's one of those things that if someone asked you about him outside of the fandom, you wouldn't even know where to start. It's absolutely FanFuckingTastic. He's the most magical thing in the universe? Fuck Yes, give that to me Now!
HE SPEAKS!!!!!!(I couldn't place his voice actor, but I when I looked him up I realized recognized him for Glossaryck from SVTFOE)
(Edit: Just found out that the scene with Manny was a Gargoyles ref. Nice!)
Once again, I love everything about LP, Drake, and Fenton
And then Lena Died
Aww, they both have such soft spots for children
LUDWIG VON DRAKE?!?!!!?! WHAT THE FUCK?!
(that had to be a different font because really, what the fuck)
He really did just say he was too busy to die. This duck is too powerful
(I really just don't have too much to say between all of this. I just love all of it)
Woo! Louie with the motivation!
Pft-how both of them are singing? Love to see it...wait, we don't see Don Karnage after this...DID HE DIE IN THAT CRASH?! DID DEWEY COMMIT HIS FIRST MURDER?!
"Welcome home, April." I hate you.
Of course he dabs
"he was like this when we found him." Nice to know Gos knows what to do in the event that she kills someone
Oh that's horrendous. I hate that
"Now, let's get down to business." TO DEF[get's shot]
Why is Manny like actually the best?
God, Drake and LP really are two halves of a whole idiot huh? They're soulmates, your honor
"I. Am." "Not alone in this." That was so sweet, but also JUST TELL HIM!!
And now Glom is dead
Oh, that's a lot of mind control
"Even by our standards, this is a weird day." Couldn't say it better, Lena
"How do you think Della found out about the Spear of Selene?" OH, YOU MOTHERFU
"Oh, Bradford, how villainous." DAMN! HE REALLY DID JUST DO THAT, HUH?!
"MOOOM!" "NOOO!" OH NO, MY HEART! IT FUNCTIONS!
"Do you know how replaceable clones are?" Oh yeah, that's right. You're probably not the og Gyro
Man, we don't ever have Von Drake for long but I always love him
Those lights are really only there for dramatic effect, aren't they?
...Close enough.
Launchpad moment! Yeah!!!
HEY! I just noticed. While wearing the suit, Launchpad didn't crash...idk what to do with this info
The fine print is usually good to read...we people just don't do it apparently
"...your most trusted ally?" *picks Donald* Wow. That's right there with the feels ain't it
"it's not worth the risk." Fuck, I love them
Oh that sounds so weird. Scrooge has never been a dad, always Uncle. So Weird
And Gandra, Gyro, and Von Drake are dead. There is a Body Count this episode
"Donald Duck." "Uncle Scrooge." I SEE YOU! I SEE WHAT YOU DID THERE! AND I LOVE IT!
Hehe. From Bitchford to bird brain.
EVERYTHING ABOUT THIS ENDING SCENE IS THE BEST!
Beakley thinking she's no longer accepted? Nah, she was granny first and foremost
ANOTHER FENRA KISS?! DON'T MIND IF I DO!
DADRO AND GOSALYN AND DRAKE?! LOVING IT!
MORE FRIENDSHIP BRACELETS?! WOO!
DONALD IMMEDIATELY ADOPTING JUNE AND MAY?! ONLY THE BEST FROM HIM!!!!
PROTECTIVE SCROOGE?! YOU DON'T SEE ME COMPLAINING!
"We're smarter" "We're tougher" "We're sharper" And we'll earn our way square." AH-I'M GOING DOWN LIKE THE SUNCHASER, GUYS
AND THE END CREDITS WILL NEVER BE MATCHED!!!!!
I don't know what else to say.
This show was amazing from beginning to end. I may not have cried, but I didn't need to cry. It wasn't sad and there was nothing bittersweet about it. Just pure perfection, just like the rest of the show.
Perfectly Preen, not a fether out of place.
Goodnight Ducktales, you were perfect

What your thoughts on the lgbt representation in dt17. As a straight person that support the lgbt I think they did alright but they were restricted by Disney. Like violet parents really didn’t have personality and just appeared in one episode. Penny should have ended with della since della is the only duck from the original trio that didn’t have a on screen kiss like Scrooge and Donald. Della have good relationship with penny. When entertainment weekly said magica going to be a lgbt icon they really didn’t do much with it except when she didn’t like it when Gladstone hold her. I don’t blame the crew since they work with Disney. Just what to hear your thoughts.
what LGBT representation nghgng This got long so
Okay so. I don’t go to a Disney show expecting to be represented I just do not trust Disney. Even when they said Violet had two dads I wasn’t sure if I should expect them to even be shown on screen.
But still, times are different from when I was a kid and there have been great leaps when it comes to representing gay and even trans experience in media and even kids’s shows
And when it comes to how DT17 handled it it’s not impressive in the year 2021 nghgn it would have maybe been acceptable ten years ago
Like I said I didn’t go in expecting anything (def not them doing anything with established characters) but I am also not going praise this piss-poor attempt and I think it’s frustrating Disney got attention for including Violet’s dads who were not characters! They didn’t even have lines!!!
Penny being a lesbian barely counts her line about not wanting to date Launchpad was so weird it wasn’t even the usual ‘I am not into men’ which fictional lesbians are allowed to say to sort of imply they are gay without using the spoopy L word. Penny and Della don’t have much of a relationship (which is a problem a lot in this show tbf) and none of it is romantically coded
Magica in the comics is much more queer than she is in the show, she is allowed to be more weird with gender lot of the time (like taking on a male form with magic tho I could say a lot overall about the representation of gender in DT17 vs the comics.... an another post perhaps) and there are even some hints at least in some comics she is into women... In the show she is made to represent homophobic family which I am :/ about but I’d be fine with it if they at least were way more explicit about the actual queer storyline in the show!!!
IMO, Lena is the best queer character in the show and she is not allowed to be explicitly so. But there is enough there that I am sure at least some people in the creative team were actively writing Lena/Webby as romantic and saw Lena’s journey as a queer narrative.
Magica is Lena’s abusive ‘biological’ parent who has a clear image of what Lena should be and tries to mold her into this image, but Lena rebels and finds a new family, she is adopted by an explicitly gay couple and loved by her friends, especially Webby. Webby/Lena is extremely easy to read as them being baby lesbians and the scene in the Night on Killmotor Hill where Webby saves Lena with her tears is the scene that made me go ‘okay this is definitely not all me reading gay into things at least some people who are making this are intending this as romantic’ because of how Webby’s tears fall on Lena’s ‘lips’ and this is the thing that saves her from Magica’s evil magic. The implication of it being a magical fairytale kiss is not an accident, animating it like that was a conscious decision someone made.
It’s very possible it wasn’t originally intended to be gay and I kinda suspect the decision was made to not write romance for any of the kid characters but it did become a thing to some extent (and was then dialed back and the finale made sure to go ‘SISTERS!!!’)
If they actually wanted to give rep and make Webby memorable, make Weblena canon tbh. You don’t even need to ship them as kids just have the same thing happen that already did happen in DT87 but replace Doofus with Lena;
they travel to the future or have a vision of future and Lena and Webby are married. There.
But of course they would have not done this. They never even had Lena’s plotline really in the show when it comes to the whole ‘becoming a part of Violet’s family’ bit. They had some references to it apparently but they were cut and Violet’s dads were not characters. I am not going to speculate on guilt and how much the creative team (or specific creators) tried to put in representation and it was all Disney stomping all over it, but COME ON. You’re telling me they managed to put Violet’s two dads in but it was totally impossible to have them speak? Have them hug their daughter and give them a few seconds of dialogue where they and their relationship to at least their daughter is characterized at all?? Maybe have them hug Violet and Lena stands there kinda awkward and they take her into the family hug and reassure her she is part of the Sabrewing family???
This show had issues with fitting everything they wanted in overall but what scenes and relationships were prioritized was a choice.
They sure had time to put in a scene in S2 where LP hits on Penny. That sure was a choice :)
I know some people expected Drakepad to be canon idk why... LP’s bisexuality is... I would not call it canon. There is one jokey implication in the show I would have been impressed by in the 90′s lmao
TLDR: I did not expect anything so I am not disappointed, not going to praise this piss-poor attempt tho

My Top 10 Favorite Ducktales Characters
…………………………………………………….
NO. 10 Hewey Duck
At number 10 is Huey!
Hewey has been my least favorite triplet for most of the series; it by no means he’s a bad character or any of the sorts, Huey is more down to earth compared to other characters. It’s hard to say much about Hewey other than how he’s a sweet, fun character I’m glad is around.
His development in season three was good, though the weakest of the three. Kinda half-baked and rushed, as if the creators thought, “we have to add some Huey development since this is his season.” With Dewey and Louie’s, it felt like their respective seasons revolved around them instead of the other way around. The only episode I really think perfectly gave Huey development and at the same time move the main plot forward fluidly was the “Challenge of the Senior Junior Woodchucks!” with the whole Huey vs. Violet rivalry. Y’know what also sucks. Huey wasn’t even that integral to the finale. That annoys me to no end.
Now, I’m going to end this with positive notes.
What got Huey into the list was his sweet nature and how integral he is to the team’s balance. Every team needs someone who represents order and Huey is just that. Plus, his innocent love for romance is so cute. I love the episode where him and Webby were setting a date up for Fenton and Gandra.
NO. 9 Scrooge McDuck
Scrooge is probably the most interesting protagonist I’ve ever watched. Unlike most of them, he’s more of an anti-hero than a pure hero like Steven Universe or Luz from Owl House.
I don’t really have much to say about him because I don’t love him as much as the characters above him. He probably has the best development- Lena’s rivaling his really well. In the beginning, Scrooge was a grumpy miser but now, thanks to the kids, his heart is softer and more open. His cheapness is annoying, but the good qualities overthrow the bad.
Scrooge most likely would’ve been higher in the list if “The Life & Crimes of Scrooge McDuck” didn’t happen- or at least occurred in season two instead since humility and hard work was the main theme. The writers went overboard showing the audience how bad of a person Scrooge was in the past, especially with him taking advantage of the poor villagers and leaving them in their states-without even helping them. This episode downgraded Scrooge pretty badly.
NO. 8 Donald Duck
Although on the lower half of the list, I still hold so much love and respect for this version of Donald. He’s such a massive improvement from his previous iteration. The creators made him kind and strong-willed but kept his anger issues. Though, they turned that flaw into a more comedic and positive aspect of Donald since he uses that intense anger to protect his family. Speaking of that, his relationship with the triplets is absolutely adorable. He loves and protects them like a great father, and I’m still a bit peeved that characters didn’t acknowledge that more. Instead, their relationship was sidelined and pretty much haphazardly... replaced-I don’t know if that’s the right word- with May and June.
Another thing that annoyed me was Donald’s voice treatment. The creators pretty much portrayed his speaking problem as a joke, which is terrible. I hope to goodness that children with speaking troubles don’t take those “jokes” to heart because there is nothing wrong with having a different voice. It’s also surprising how much characters mostly don’t understand him when I can seventy percent of the time. This complaint is more towards season one since that was the season where most of the jokes happened.
Anyways, I hope this Donald will start a new beginning for the next iterations of him. A nice guy who has anger issues but means well. Same with him and Daisy’s relationship-another massive improvement the writers did. They are such a great couple from the episodes we got with them and this dynamic should continue.
NO. 7 Webby Vanderquack
Another character who was massively improved was the great Webby Vanderquack!
In the original series, she was a boring damsel-in-distress with no personality-pretty much like the earliest Disney princesses. The ‘17 creators did such a great job molding reboot Webby into a character who can kill you with kindness or impressive fighting skills. This pink-loving queen is probably the sweetest character I’ve ever met; I just want to hug her.
I love her optimism and caring personality. She was able to change Lena for the better and not give up on her when almost everyone did. Webby is the best friend you can have.
While I’m not fully on board with the Webby finale twist, I really liked how her interest in the McDucks played some big part of the finale. Do I wish it was in different circumstances? Yes, but I’m still glad Webby got an important moment for herself. That interrogation scene was very emotional; seeing Beakley fully breakdown like she did was shocking and really set the mood of how pivotal that moment. I literally almost cried seeing Webby so heartbroken by her grandmother’s lies- this pink baby deserves all the love in the world. At least she found out the truth and gained a parental figure in her life.
NO. 6 Louie Duck
I’ve gotta admit; I did not like Louie that much at the start of the show. Greedy and selfish characters usually don’t get my love, but season two changed. A lot more depth was added to him such as his insecurities and anxieties. I struggle with these issues and it was nice to see a character show that as well. One of my favorite arcs was Louie’s trouble connecting with Della; it was realistic and not rushed. While watching this season, I was often having trouble connecting with people, even old friends. Sort of having someone experiencing them alongside me made me feel less insecure and lonely.
His development was really good too, from beginning to end. At first, Louie was someone who was willing to execute every angle no matter how much it could hurt his loved ones. Yet, he grew to be a humbler person who now knows the consequences of his angles. A favorite episode of mine is “The Richest Duck in the World” because of this development. Seeing Louie clean the Bombei’s shoes with Scrooge made my heart melt.
What lowered him down to number eight was season three. There were a few episodes that backtracked Louie’s development like “The Trickening” and “The Fight for Castle McDuck” episodes. He was a real jerk towards Huey for no reason. It frustrated me enough to affect this list. And I also prefer other characters more.
NO. 5 Fenton Crackshell-Cabrera
You can’t expect me to not put this quirky and adorable dork in the top five! He’s one of the best boys in the show. Him being voiced by the great Lin-Manuel Miranda does add some bonus points- you can tell I’m a big Hamilton fan.
Like Webby, Fenton was drastically improved. He became this sweet, scatterbrained scientist who only wants to help people. I instantly fell in love with him. And it got even better when Fenton became Gizmoduck- my second favorite DT hero. He deserved so much more screen time, especially in season 3; “Beaks in the Shell” was not a good enough episode for Fenton and his relationship with Gandra. There should’ve been more. The finale moments he had was not satisfying enough, particularly him and DW sort of team up. It was rushed.
If a Darkwing Duck reboot takes place in the ’17 universe then Fenton must be a major character- at least show up in ten episodes a season. A Gizmoduck and Darkwing crossover is essential, and I will riot if it that doesn’t happen. And more Fandra, my fifth -maybe fourth- favorite ship.
I also had a big crush on Fenton back in season one. You can’t help but love him this sweety pie. This pretty much influenced thirty percent of his placement.
NO. 4 Launchpad McQuack
This muscular dummy is amazing! He brings a sense of comedy and light to every episode he is in. It’s infectious as h*ll!
I liked Launchpad instantly. He’s kind and wants the best for people. Optimistic characters are almost the best characters. They are great reminders of how there are still many good people in the world. Whenever I’m down and watch Ducktales, LP makes me feel a lot better with his dumb yet endearing moments. My favorite jokes are literally LP sending Beakley an invitation saying not to come and when he tried to make small talk with Gosalyn at the window; I can never stop laughing at those moments.
There are times when Launchpad’s dumbness irks me, but his good qualities overthrow that. Though, I wish he wasn’t used too much as comedy relief; LP had the potential to gain more development than what he got. I’ll give an example. Learning about his family would’ve been great to know- an appearance wouldn’t have hurt either. It could’ve opened a reason to why LP cares about Scrooge’s opinion and cares about him like a dad. Maybe there’s some bitterness in LP’s relationship with his dad and that’s why he doesn’t talk about his parents. Loopey not being introduced was a missed opportunity. Big brother Launchpad is all I need.
I also have a small crush on Launchpad, though mostly for his personality and voice. He’s still cute *wink.*
NO. 3 Drake Mallard
We made it to the top three! With the dashing caped crusader Darkwing Duck starting us off!
It’s funny how much I love a character who’s only appeared in like five-maybe six- episodes enough to put him in the top three. I had some trouble defining many reasons why I love him; it’s this weird connection I have with DW. He’s this dorky dummy who loved a big part of his childhood enough to make it his reality, yet I love him so much.
I think what made me fall in love with him was how similar we are. Like him, I was a meek person who got pushed a few times- either physically or mentally. Those times also inspired me to grow stronger and be an inspiration for the next generation. I can be pretty clumsy too(lol). Characters I see myself in are usually really high in my love list and it shouldn’t be surprising that Drake is one of them.
His kind and genuine nature was also what drew me in. And, I just made this realization, this is the first time I don’t prefer the original iteration over the latest one. I still love ‘91 Drake but he’s too arrogant.
Unlike the original DW, Drake became a hero to help others- though a wish for glory played a bit of a part too. This clumsy, stuttering actor took a step to become his hero and a future one for children like him. That’s admirable. His lovable personality also being so cute enough for me to want to give a big hug is a good addition.
NO. 2 Lena Sabrewing
Hands down Lena had the best development!
She started off as this distant loner who followed the gray area of morality. Now, Lena is a part of this loving family and her own person. A few of her episodes are my favorites, such as “Friendship Hates Magic!” and “A Nightmare on Killmotor Hill.” They are well-written episodes and hit me in the feels.
Like Louie and Drake, I see myself in Lena. There are times I’ve been afraid I’ll take on my family’s bad habits or turn like them. That’s why I love “A Nightmare on Killmotor Hill!” Watching Lena try to be good enough and feeling insecure reminded me of the dark times I usually think about. There are even times I have dreams of these issues. The creators must have been inspired by me (lol). Though, I am kind of jealous of Lena because of how great her friends are. I want friends like Webby and Violet.
Even so, I do have some issues with Lena. Her magic arc was not written as well as her previous arcs. This might be more of a personal opinion than anything, but I’m still going to say it. Lena learned to control her magic too quickly, and it was treated as more like a plot device. And a shaking one at that. For example, in “The Split Sword of Swanstantine” Lena was able to stop time and send her and Huey into his mindscape. But, somehow, she couldn’t conjure a burst of energy to attack Steelbeak; granted, Huey mentioned that, yet Lena’s reasoning was dumb. Attacking someone with magic is way easier than doing what she did. I’m a little lenient on this since that idea lead to more Huey development, though I’m still going to critique it.
A great thing about Lena learning was her temporary outfit change. She looks absolutely amazing in light colors, which I didn’t expect, and her hair design is what I saw she would look good in. The eye shape is kind of weird.
Lena’s magic mode is in my list of cosplays.
NO. 1 Dewey Duck
Finally, number one is Dewey Duck!
Dewey has stolen my heart since the beginning. His positivity and fun nature always make me smile, even during the toughest times.
In my opinion, Dewey has the best arc/development of the triplets. His arc trying to find out what happened to his mother was what kept me watching Ducktales and helped me see why this show is so special. Many of my favorite moments are in season one, specifically ones involving Dewey. For instance, the scene in “The Last Crash of the Sunchaser!” where Dewey was willing to risk his life to get the last piece of paper and possibly solve what happened to Della was emotional. Hearing the desperation in his voice while pleading with Scrooge to tell him what happened hit me hard. I can’t imagine how much pain HDL have gone through not knowing what happened and thinking they aren’t allowed to ask. It would be terrible to experience.
Another moment I loved was in “The Spear of Selene.” It was when Dewey was hesitant to know what happened as the possibility that Della was a bad person grew more prominent. He looked so defeated admitting that realization and it reminded me of myself. There were moments when I realized that my parents were not as good as I thought. It hurt me a lot. At least sweet Dewey didn’t have to go through that. The scene when Dewey started tearing up seeing his mom in the sphere was also heartwarming. I wanted to give him the biggest hug.
Dewey’s insecurities of not being good enough and to be loved is what I struggle with too. Its kind of different because I have trouble believing anyone loves me while he wants everybody to like him. Confidence is not my forte.

Ducktales but Scoorge has a daughter with Goldie that has lived with him until the Della incident? Headcanons or scenario you pick
The last season of Ducktales awaits to be finished, but I should be able to fulfill this request!
Scrooge and his daughter (Ducktales)
Father/daughter dynamic duo. Goldie didn’t want to be in one place forever, and dangerous portals into hellish dimensions were no place for a baby or little kid. It does mean that Scrooge is very close to his daughter, his little “Spitfire” or “Pebble.”
The two have no sense of caution. At all. Scrooge is aware enough of the consequences to keep his precious Pebble out of lethal danger but give the two a map and they will be charging in with a sword in their hand. Maybe an explosive or two, depending on how they’re feeling that day.
(Name) McDuck is a mapmaker and reader like no other. Give her a map; she’ll find what you’re looking for without fail. She’s the reason that Scrooge hasn’t fallen into accidental pit traps unmarked by older maps.
Part of her obsession with maps is to figure out where anything -or anyone - is. It has been a while since she has seen her mother, but she knows better to assume that Goldie is lost or gone. She’s simply wandering.
She may be Scrooge’s favorite Spitfire but she is also the sense of direction in the trio of chaos that comes from knowing her cousins. Della as the only other female family member is a favorite - a break from just guys - and Donald is…. Donald is a handful but he is loved all the same. Their antics put latter generations to shame with what they got up to.
Her goal, dream really, is to collect and create the ultimate treasure map. Every hidden isle, every stash, every lost city, all in the greatest map an adventurer could ever dream of. She’s been collecting maps since she was a child. And she’s still going.
There’s an old painting hidden away in the attic. A pirate ship is the center, with proud members of the McDuck family on it. In older days Scrooge would boast of it. The time he and his dear niece and nephew had taken on the worst pirates seen in decades. A McDuck classic. It used to rest in the main room, but had long since taken residence in the darker corners of the attic, laying on older paintings.
Strangely, it is only the 2nd painting in the house that Scrooge cannot be brought to see. The painting is hidden directly behind the one with the pirate ship, out of view and out of mind for anyone who might stumble upon the face of Della Duck. All one has to do is move the larger painting out of the way to see what lies beneath.
It’s smaller. Rounder. A portrait. Whereas the pirate ship had been a photo turned into painting, this was a true painted portrait from start to finish. In the back lies a treasure from an island you’d have to ask Scrooge to name on the map, but what stands in front is far more interesting.
A younger Scrooge, cane in hand. He hadn’t quite yet started wearing his glasses yet - no matter how many times they told him to he just refused - but he is happy in the photo. Positively beaming next to the young duck beside him. She’s just as ready for adventure as he, treasure hand in map and smile on her face.
(Name) McDuck smiles in all her glory eternally in that painting.
He’s loath to admit it but he thought Goldie was playing a trick on him when she announced her pregnancy to him. The two had always shared certain complications between them. Love was in there, alongside loathing, like, dislike, respect and spite, but for them it works. Always has. A pregnancy announcement was as likely to be what it was as it was a potential dupe to get him involved in some hair-brained scheme.
There is also the added fact that having a child meant telling his parents they were now grandparents, a fate he’d rather avoid.
But then. There she was. A ball of crying feathers, eyes scrunched tight at the world as he held her close. Fatherhood had never called for him. It meant responsibilities, playing things safe, packing food, worrying about diapers when there’s a whole world to see. Tiny ferocious fists smacked against his beak, helpless but still so full of spark. His heart shattered and mended. This is a McDuck through and through. This child was going to see the world.
Goldie’s departure had been of no surprise. Goldie was an adventurer; though she’d have ties to others, no promise or ring could ever keep her in one place long. Scrooge was a businessman. Adventurer he may be but his work would always lead him to returning to a home of some sorts. Even the most McDuckish baby needed a home to be raised in before seeking out dangers to overcome. With him, (Name) would have stability - enough to grow.
The first time she had snuck aboard was when he knew she was ready. After a long conversation about why she couldn’t be with her father when he went to see the world, Scrooge found her curled behind a crate, scribbled map copied from the book in her hand and a heavy flashlight in her hand (“To shine and to strike where it doesn’t shine!”), and there was no going back.
Her cousins joining simply fueled that mapmaker of a daughter he had. Della and Donald brought out the best and worst of her explorer spirit in her. He’d be just as likely to find the trio in the middle of defeating a labyrinth’s monster as he was to find them balanced on the roof, about to test Della’s latest flying idea. Smiles were always had when the 3 were together, and when there were tears Scrooge would settle the dust between them and get them sorted enough.
They were family. Family stays together, through thick and thin, rough and soft.
It was supposed to be a surprise.
Della wasn’t supposed to find out about the rocket. She wasn’t supposed to go flying it without checking the radar first, or before Scrooge had dashed into the control center after seeing her soar into the skies. The storm wasn’t supposed to happen, the rocket losing control wasn’t supposed to happen, none of this was supposed to happen.
Donald had every right to be furious. His nephews might never know their mother all because Scrooge had insisted on building such a dangerous rocket in the first place, on not seeing the consequences his need to be reckless caused. Anger could not make Scrooge ignore these points, even as he bit back with his own barbs.
(Name) had every right to be furious. It was her cousin lost in the stars. But she wasn’t supposed to pull so far away from him. She wasn’t supposed to lose herself in finding Della. She wasn’t supposed to take one of the rockets meant to find Della.
She wasn’t supposed to lose herself too.

A Pirate’s Life For Me
@rip-in-pieces-my-last-braincell It took me a day and a bit but I DID IT! 2.145 words, I hope you like it!
Just so you know, it has been ages since I’ve watched the movies, and this is not an official version, I just wanted to use as many characters as possible. The only characters that are mean to be in place are Kit, Della and Wildcat.
-
At some point of their long travel, even Della’s endless energy had come to an end. Donald felt relief for that at first, enjoying the rare peace and quiet in his life. However, as time passed by, the minutes being dragged at the same pace their ship calmly, quietly sailed through the fog, Donald almost wished his sister would still be running and climbing and screaming around.
The small twins were sitting side by side on a crate, eyes on the fog and ocean ahead without really paying attention to it. Donald didn’t know why or exactly when, but Della suddenly broke the silence by humming a not so unfamiliar melody. His fingers moved almost like an involuntary reflex and before the boy noticed, he was carefully playing the melody on his guitar. That was the moment Della chose to turn her humming into words.
“Drink up, me harties, yo-ho. Yo-ho, yo-ho... A pirate’s life for me. We extort, we pilfer, we filch, we sack, drink up-”
Della’s voice and Donald’s fingers where abruptly stopped when each twin had an adult hand grabbing their shoulders.
“Hush now, kids,” said the adult, in a tone of warning and looking around in agitation. “Real pirates travel in these waters, and the legends say that singing their songs is basically calling for them.”
“Wildcat!” shouted the voice with a tick Scottish accent that the kids knew very well. Their Uncle Scrooge didn’t look pleased as he approached them with his cane. “Ah would appreciate it if ye could not fill ma nephew and niece’s heads with untrue legends of the sea.”
“But they are true, Mr. McDee,” Wildcat insisted. “It’s bad luck to sing about pirates, everyone knows that.”
Donald gulped at these words, dropping his guitar at once; as if he needed more bad luck. Della, by other hand, didn’t look frightened in the slightest as the talk continued, captain Baloo breaking in to add his two cents.
“Wildcat’s not lying, Mr. McDuck, it’s common knowledge between us mans of the sea. And specially with us in the middle of this weird fog, I dunno ya but I’m not here to take risks.”
“Bah, fine,” Scrooge dismissed the topic with a hand. “If ye two are so bothered, they will stop singing.”
For Donald, his uncle didn’t need to say twice, looking forward for when the adults decided to change topics.
But Della didn’t seem ready to let go of this talk yet, “I think it’d be exciting to meet a real pirate,” she declared with her usual, innocent cheer.
Scrooge chuckled humorless, “Think again, lass.” He narrowed his eyes at the fog, as if daring the pirates who could be hiding behind it.
“Vile and dissolute creatures, all of them. Stealing without a care from those who earned their belongs fair and square.” Scrooge felt very much like spitting on the floor, but that was a habit from his old life and not a proper reaction from a governor. “If ye ask me, any person who dares to answer by the name pirate deserves the same fate: A short drop and a sudden stop.”
While Donald’s confused eyes didn’t move from their uncle’s face, Della turned her head to Baloo in search for answers. The captain hesitated for a moment, but in the end, he dropped a hand from the rudder, using it to grab the kerchief around his neck. By the way he stretched the tissue, dropping his head and letting his tongue roll off his mouth, Della quickly caught the message.
With a now frightened gasp, the girl snapped her head back forward, her wide eyes staring at the ship’s floor.
It was her reaction that made Scrooge notice his wee niblings’ faces to his last commentary. He then dropped his vexed expression for a concerned one. Oh marvelous, Hortense was going to kill him.
“Erh, but enough of pirate talks, aye? Ye kids enjoy the rest of the trip, with no singing,” he added before walking away to another part of the ship.
The twins just exchanged a look between each other, as if asking “what now?”. After a moment with no answer, Donald simply decided to jump off the crate and walk towards Baloo. Donald loved ships, boats, and the sea itself, and he was always eager to learn more about them, so it wasn’t hard for Della to imagine her brother’s plans.
Because of that, she stayed behind, looking around for something that would be of her interest. She found it when her eyes once again fell over the nets that leaded to the crow’s nest. Della had climbed it not even two hours ago, but the current boredom and the memory of the way she felt being up there were enough to make up her mind.
Della was lucky. Her parents were less strict than her friends’ about how a young lady should behave (although dresses and good manners were still a must) and her uncle didn’t give a feather if his ten-year-old niece acted boyish during their expeditions. That was how the girl got so good on activities like climbing.
Firmly grabbing the ropes, Della climbed up every step with patience, but no hesitation until she hit the middle of the net. There, she stopped. Dropping her right hand from the net, Della turned around on a complete 180°. She was facing the ocean now.
The fog turned the view way less appealing than it was a couple hours ago, but the duckling didn’t really mind. Just being up there, with wind in her hair, felling so free that it was almost like she could fly, was everything the young girl could wish for.
Della closed her eyes to breathe in deeply. But when she opened them again, her smile was quickly dropped when something through the fog caught her attention.
There was something on the water, floating.
Della needed to narrow her eyes to recognize a large wooden board. And laid on it, there was…
“A boy!” she exclaimed, starting to climb down the fastest she could, while still shouting. “Uncle Scrooge!! Baloo, Wildcat, look!”
The three men rushed to her, Scrooge grabbing her shoulders and checking his niece up and down after any wound in the instant Della was back on the ground.
“Lass, what’s the meaning-”
“A boy!” Della didn’t wait her uncle to finish, this time pointing a finger to where the floating board was. “Look, there’s a boy on the water!”
In the meantime that it took Della to climb down, the board had floated to even closer to the ship. Which allowed the three men to easily catch sight of the young, unconscious, brown-furred bear on it. Baloo’s eyes went wide, and he shouted,
“MAN OVERBOARD!”
Five more men from the crew came running to help, and with all of them working fast and together, it was a matter of seconds before the boy was out of the water and in Baloo’s arms. Della could just watch all the commotion from some steps behind, trying to get a better look, but the men were too tall and crowded to allow her any sight. She was able, however, to hear when Baloo declared,
“He’s still breathing.”
“For all the seven seas!” Della almost yelped at that sudden scream. When had Donald stopped by her side??
Nonetheless, her brother was looking even more frightened. Turning around and following his gaze, the girl could easily see why: hundreds of different types of merch floating on the water, them all coming from a ship, not so different from the one they were, crashing and burning in the middle of the ocean.
Scrooge, Baloo and Wildcat rushed to approach them and see it too, every man around trying to understand what could’ve happened there. Baloo wanted to believe in the easiest option, that merchant ships carry a lot of weaponry and somehow, accidentally, the powder was lit. But a tiny, distant voice in his mind wouldn’t let another, more scary option rest.
“P-p-pirates?” Donald gulped.
“Ah donnae know, lad, but we better be prepared for everything. Captain!” Scrooge started to command, and quickly everyone on the boat had a new role to play. Except for the little ones. “Donald, I want you to stay with me. Della-”
Scrooge cut himself off when he saw his niece wasn’t standing by her brother’s side anymore. Luckily, he just needed a quick look around to find the white duckling in a gray dress. It shouldn’t have surprised him that she was standing near their new crewmember. Scrooge walked to them, arriving just as a sailor took the boy from the ground, to take him away from the ship’s side edge.
“Della,” he called again, this time getting her attention. “I want you to accompany the boy. He will be in your charge. Take care of him.”
“Yes, Uncle Scrooge,” Della nodded, before following the sailor.
The brown cub was put to rest over the same crate the Duck twins had been sitting just some minutes ago. As she approached, Della knew she had a better chance to observe the boy now. He looked her age, maybe older for one or two years, if that much. His worn, patched up green sweater was completely soaked, and so was his fur, causing some of hair to fall over his eyes.
Gingerly as her housekeeper had taught her, Della touched his locks, gently moving them away. But no matter how gently, that disturbance alone was enough to wake the boy up with a chocked scream, grabbing her wrist with a shaking, yet strong hand.
Della sighed, trying to calm down her heart from the scare, before meeting his eyes. Petrified browns against calming light blues.
“It’s okay, I’m not going to hurt you. You’re safe now,” she guaranteed. “My name’s Della. Della Duck.”
“Kit,” he sounded breathless, scared, and tired. “Kit Cloudkicker.”
At that new piece of information, Della smiled.
“I’ll be watching over you, Kit.”
It’s like that was all the boy needed to hear, his grasp on her wrist loosening as his body fell unconscious once again.
Della kept her promise and stayed by his side, glad that now Kit looked more asleep than dead. It was while watching him that she noticed something loose around his neck. Touching it, Della easily recognized a red kerchief. Chances were high that it was just a piece of tissue, a cheap, meaningless adornment… But what if it was something his parents gave him? A memory of his family who, if traveling on that now burning ship, were probably no long in this world?
Biting her cheek, Della carefully took the kerchief within her hands, planning to keep it safe, maybe even wash it, before giving it back to Kit when he woke up-
Any thought was frozen, her heart leaping in surprise when she saw the drawing printed on Kit’s kerchief. She had never seen it before herself, but by the stories, Della knew exactly what the drawing of the white skull meant.
“You’re a… pirate?”
“Vile and dissolute creatures, all of them,” Uncle Scrooge’s words echoed in her head, alongside everything Della had heard about the bandits of the sea. But as she looked up to the boy again, she couldn’t see it. Kit didn’t look vile; he didn’t sound vile. He was just a kid, like her and Donald.
“Did he say anything?”
Della jumped, quickly crumpling the tissue in her hand, and hiding it behind her back as she turned around to face Baloo. He was accompanied by some other men of the crew, and not so distantly, the girl could see her uncle as well. Before she could even notice there was a choice to be made, Della was already executing her decision.
“His name’s Kit Cloudkicker. That’s all I found out.”
Baloo simply nodded, not looking suspicious of anything. After the last events, it was normal that such a young girl would be a little jumpy.
“We’re gonna take him bellow, alright missy? Our doctor can treat him better there.” The captain explained.
It was Della’s turn to nod, stepping behind so Baloo could take Kit in his arms again. The girl watched as they left, knowing she should be following them, but first and foremost, she needed a better place than her closed fist to hide that kerchief.
Confirming there was no one around her, Della opened her hand and the tissue again. Her eyes meticulously scanning the red fabric as her fingers caressed the skull figure.
At this point, this day was clearly one to be remembered by Della. But when she raised her head to catch sight of another ship on the distance, the same skull figure flapping on a black flag at the mast… Those few seconds were marked in her memory like a burn.

Ducktales Treasure of the Golden Sun: Three Ducks of the Condor or Now with More Racism!
Hello all you happy people! And welcome back to my look at Ducktales: Treasure of the Golden Suns!, the pilot episodes that started it all. This look was one of my patreon stretch goals. To explain them in case some of you aren’t familiar with patreon it’s essentially like a kickstarter stretch goal: every milestone I reach in my monthly earnings means a crop of reviews for you guys, with this being 10 and my review of the movie, and the goofy movies in two weeks and September respectively, being the 15 dollar one. So if you want reviews of the OTHER Ducktales mini series Time Is Money and Super DuckTales, then hop on aboard and help me reach my 20 dollar goal so I can keep making these reviews for a living and give you all more. Said goal also includes a Darkwing Duck review eveyr month AND a review of teh Danny Phantom special The ULtimate Enemy so hop on board HERE AT MY PATREON. Patrons also get exclusive reviews, access to my discord server (Though if anyone would be more intrersted in me making that public let me know), and to pick a short each time I do a birthday special for a character from Looney Tunes, Disney and Beyond. And next month is my boy Donald’s so since you all already sat out goofy NOW is the time.
So now my very necessary plug is out of the way, i’m very poor, we can get to the review proper:
When last we left off Scrooge and the Boys went on their first proper adventure together, heading to Central America to follow the map from the first episode and running into Dr.Claw El Capitan and his new best buddy Glomgold. Mild racisim, moonsoons and much better pacing ensued.
So join me under the cut as my boy Donald returns, some iconic characters are introduced in Webby, Launchpad and Beakly, though this series only made one of them iconic to be fair, and we get some more mild racisim because fuck my life. Onward to the cut!
So yeah as I’ve mentioned a few times now this episode had a content warning.. which was fair as there is some pretty cringy stuff in here but it had the side effect of me holding my breath until the racisim came up and whapped me in the face. So i’m keeping that tension up for you guys so I don’t have to suffer alone.
We open at the Mansion. Scrooge is trying to find a governess for the boys, but they keep scaring off all the clients because they don’t like the idea. And for once.. i’m on Scrooge’s side here. Yes I know there’s a sterotype of rich people hiring a nanny to not have to parent. and it’s sadly often true and it’d SEEM like Scrooge is doing that.. but really he just wants the boys to be safe. He’s fully grown to care for them and just wants someone cheap and responsible to look after them while he’s busy and clearly still makes time for them. As someone who is a former nanny, albeit for someone working class, I get that as much as you WANT to spend every moment with your kid you often can’t. I say all this because SO MANY kids movies and shows villianize parents for not spending time with their kid when their clearly just working to support them. There are nuanced exceptions to this and refreshingly Craig of the Creek has outright avoided this: JP’s mom is gone almost all the time due to working as an airline pilot, but while he clearly misses her he never resents her or guilts her over it, he understands sh’es supporting him and goes out of his way to make sure his friends can meet her. It’s really swee.t And while again I get it, this guys a billionare, most examples aren’t, Scrooge still really CAN’T stop working: He has more money than god and like most bilionares REALLY should give most of it to charity or to help with programs instead of hoarding it in a massive bin.. but he’s also got tons of companies, factories, investments... people COUNTING on him to make sure these are working correctly and keep their jobs. So yeah i’ts nice that the show isn’t demonizing scrooge for this or dosen’t even consider it: he’s getting help beacuse he needs it, that’s what’s important.
So while the boys widdle down the nannies, Scrooge talks to a renowned coin collector. He does show off his collection to the guy, but his main goal is naturally to show him the coin from last time. Turns out that naturally for a five part episode the treasure they lost last time was just a fraction of the real thing and the real titular treasure is a mythical horde even Scrooge, who normally has proved something out of myth is very real 5 times before breakfast, didn’t think existed.
Something I do love about this five parter is how every treasure hunt has ended up being important each piece of the puzzle leading to the next like any good treasure hunt. As for where this one leads the collector HAS heard of only one other coin like it, up in the Andes Mountains in a mysterious fortress whose mountain habitat and being a fortress makes it hard to get to and the owner is apparently a real piece of work.. but Scrooge isn’t afraid of a little hard work and is ready to go after it.. he just has to find a Nanny first.
And he does as there’s only one left: Mrs. Beakley, who we FINALLY meet after two episodes. Yeah for some weird reasont his episode choose to cram the rest of the major main and supporting cast into one episode.. it still works, they all still get great introductions it’s just weird to me when you have five episodes to not say introduce Launchpad last time.
But regardless as I said it’s a good intro.. despite the boys wilding a lasso and a snake.
Beakly is unphased and even dosen’t remotely fall for them trying to say she got the wrong name. And while Scrooge is a little impressed, he’s even more when she states she’ll work for free... with one condition: Free room and board for her and her grandaughter, Webby, who has been there the whole time and looking cute as a button. Scrooge is unsure but one minute of Webby being adorable later and he’s agreed. She can’t eat much right? He also hopes she’ll help the boys not be douchebags, unaware that their inherent poorly written sexisim means that was never going to work. And why yes I will call it out eveyr time it happens because it happens every time they have an episode together and only gets worse.
He goes to Gyro for help and Classic Gyro.. is utterly delightful. While I clearly have issues with Classic Scrooge, whose a greedy poorly aged asshat and the boys, who are sterotypes of male children, Gyro? He’s nice, friendlya nd eccentric, using a delightfully wakcky pogo hat thing to think and takes only a mintue to figure out how to solve a seemingly unsolvable problem and only needs a few hours to build his cool looking bird ship, using bird legs to offset the hard to sort out landing conditions. But since it’s a fancy bitch, it needs a pilot and i’m sure we all know where this is going...but since Carol Danver sis busy he has to go with Launchpad.
Launchpad’s intro is great, cheerful as he does a job testing a plane and naturally crashes it, and when thought dead walks out seconds later unharmed and jolly as ever. Scrooge is naturally terrified of the prospect of flying with him but dosen’t really have another choice “I hope my insurance is paid up.” Scrooge it’s you.. of course it isn't.
So with that our hero bids a farewell to the boys and ends up unteitonally coming off MASSIVELY unlikeable. No really he leaves them behind for their saftey despite needing help... and then upon finding out Donald is going to be on leave soon in the andes, and just assumes that YOU KNOW, he’d LIKE to go on a dangerous exausting adventure instead of actually get some rest after working in the goddamn navy and STILL dosen’t take the kids along despite having a very tearjerking farewell IN FRONT OF HIM that happened at most a month ago. Granted i’m suprised Donald is getting leave this soon.. but since I genuinely like to look into this sort of thing and the last time I didn’t I was correctly reminded Gulliver’s Travels was a satire.. and found out someone HAD actually watched the Jack Black movie. I only vaugely remember a trailer.. I thinkn it was a trailer? Maybe it was the middle part of a juinor novelzation where htey have all the photos? I really don’t know. I know almost every pokemon on sight but not where I saw pictures of a forgetable jack black movie, what a shock.
So long story short I DID google it. Here’s what I got
So given clealry more time has passed than we’ve seen on screen, enough time COULD have passed for Donald’s three day pass to kick in. So credit to the crew for actually thinking that out. They still get all the blame though for not only not seeing how bad not taking the kids to see the uncle whose like a father to them a month after he left when he CLEARLY can is bad, but how worse it is that the first break donald gets ina month.. is spent helping scrooge against his will on a life or death treasure hunt.
And I get WHY they wanted to try out having Donald on an adventure: he was in most of the carl barks material.... but I also dont’ get it as Launchpad was deisgned entirely to fill in for Donald when needed, we’re only three episodes into the series and this gives the wrong impression Donald will guest star a lot more. In practice while he still did get a meaty 8 episodes on the show including this one, 2 of which were cameos and the pilot only dosne’t count because of the exnteded slapstick sequence, and dosen’t appear at all after season 1, likely because Fenton’s introduction made him reduntant as he was an even more blatant Donald stand-in. It just feels weird to shove him into the pilot movie when we should be focusing on our main cast, epsecially with so many getting intorduced this episode. It woudl’ve made more sense for Gyro to be the third man instead and it woud’ve elmaited Scrooge’s uttelry horrible actions here of depriving his nephews of their surrogate father.
So Uncle Dickstick leaves with Launchpad to go abduct donald.... and tha’ts not me being funny, that’s what actually happens. Donald is singing out on leave.. with his superior... weirdly doing paper work outside on the flight deck.
And is angry at Donald because of him taking pictures and stuff and threatens him if he’s not back exactly in time... because look he’s on a boat with a bunch of sweaty men but as the most superior officer he can’t enjoy that so he has to get off SOMEHOW and ruining donald’s life just happens ot be a thing for him.
So yeah Scrooge straight up naps Donald via claw and Donald is angry, wondering, as you’d expect “What’s the big idea”.. and once Scrooge clairfies he did it.. still asks that because what the fuck. And the episode treats this as comical, as it does Launchpad not understanding Donald.. and don’t get me wrong you CAN make a good “I can’t understand Donald Duck” joke, the 2017 series made PLENTY. But said series also spoiled me as they did it with far more effort, while also still showing just how much it would suck to have everyone around you struggle to hear what you say and never listen to you. They actually cared abotu Donald’s well being where as this one thinks “Gee you knwo what would go great iwth a hard month’s naval work? MORE WORK HELPING YOUR UNCLE GET RICHER FOR NO PERSONAL BENIFIT AFTER HE KIDNAPS YOU”.
So our heroes.. and scrooge, head to Andes and find the temple and it’s here “Sigh” we met our antagonist. A Conquestador Douche who DOES have a name and it is on the wiki.. but is so generic and unlikeble I’m just going to keep calling him conquestador douche, whose introduced waving his sun coin around while the natives all bow to him because of the coin.
Welcome to the racisim! Admitely it’s not as bad as Treasure of the Lost Lamp, that’s a high bar to clear, but ti’s still not great to have the racist cliche of “character conquers a civilization because of they belivie he’s a messenger for their “silly” god”. And the saddest part is not that I didn’t notice this trope and how bad it was as a kid watching shows like this... but that as an ADULT about 4 years ago when I watched this episode how racist it and this trope in general was didn’t register to me at all. That.. really bothers me that it took me this long to pick up on things like this and i’m sorry for it.
That’s honestly WHY we need these warnings and WHY i’m so hard on this racisim: it wasn’t necessary, it could’ve been removed and you clearly just didn’t care or didn’t realize it was racist. And even acceptable for the time dosen’t work for anymore: I learned recently that the creators of Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, both white, hired black writers..and actually LISTENED, looking to them for personal stories and to check them if one of the white staff wrote something that wasn’t true to the black experience. I know that sounds like the bare minimum but this was the early 90′s, that kind of thinking wasn’t hte norm like it is in most writer’s rooms now.. and sadly not ALL writer’s rooms. Not only that but just today I ran into a MST3K skit that lampooned this kind of bullshit from not long after this episode. People clearly knew better, the writers of this episode just didn’t’t care
So yeah, I get this was a kids show in the 80′s, I get the writing staff being almost all white.. but they still coudl’ve avoided cliche sterotypes and done something diffrent. It was was still wiithin white people like myselves power to actually think about something other htan themselves and we did not. So i’m never going to stop holding my own people accountable for just how BADLY we’ve fucked up in ways great and small because it still hasn’t stopped , likely never will so I won’t.
But yeah.... the tribe here are portrayed as ignorant, mindless dumbasses who blindly follow tradition and a clearly corrupt leader. It’s patronizingly stupid to assume just because a belief system is diffrent than yours a person will belieive anything. Religion CAN make people act stupid, the fact many people are homophobic simply because the bible, a centuries old document written and distrbuted by humans that could of been altered by people with a clear homophobic agenda, says they should be. But there’s the very clear very gross implication here that any god but the christian god is invalid and simplifies wonderful and well thought out myths and beliviefs from various cultures into “well they belivie in da sun god because of the shiny coin”. It’s gross, i’m glad it’s stopped and it’s VERY telling that the closest Ducktales 2017 came to this was the most dangerous game night which while a tad cringe inducing at least showed the tribe it used was clever, disposed the person they mistook for a god after it was clear he wasn’t one , and were wholly sympathetic.
Naturally Conquistadouche orders the tribe to attack Scrooge and it works briefly , though Scrogoe prepares to take on the ENTIRE villiage.. and given this is Scrooge and on this blog we’ve seen him take on an entire town before, and that was a more inexpericed less bastardly scrooge yeah their fucked, and only escape death because the coin falls out of scrooge’s coat when he tries to help donald who naturally injures himself trying to help.
And since as per white dumbass racist logic, the villiagers thought Conquistadipshit was a messenger of the gods because of his coin, they think the same of Scrooge, this causes them to stop and bow instead and protect scrooge when Conquistadumbass tries to attack our heroes. Their given a room for the night naturally.
Conquistadick demands they give him the coin and leave, but Scrooge has none of that: he has no reason to leave and has all the leverage so he instead demands to know wha’ts going on.
Turns out Conquisineart is the decdendant of one of the crew from the ship Scrooge found: their captain rain off with it, leaving two of his men behind, though both had the map to the rest of the treasure and split it: one left for the Arctic, the other stayed and did the whole racist god bit. And somehow despite all the time passing Conquistadoodoohead still has his half and Scrooge aranges a trade for the coin. And why yes their is the obvious problem of “what if Conquistascoobydoo say tells them he’s the true god and attacks scrooge like he ends up doing in the climax”. And Scrooge’s plan.. is to have the plane ready and to run to it, despite Launchpad not being a mechanic and saying as much. Instead of you know... stealing the guy’s coin while he’s asleep or something or just having launchpad, whose bigger and stronger and donald whose not bigger but is also stronger hold the guy while Scrooge steals his sun coin, then simply walks to the plane with the map, the coins and all the leverage. at worst the guy tries to do the same scheme without any coins and as the end of the episode shows, that wouldn’t have worked. He was stupid. Oh and the cherry on top of this shit sundae is scrooge objects to the guys tyranical rule.. but is okay with letting it keep going if he gets his coin and DOnlad, whose there for the deal, never call shim on it.
We then get a bit of Launchpad being forced off a cliff to ride a giant Condor...
Look this episode is filled with racisit sterotypes, a generic villian and Scrogoe being awful. I’ll take a fun sequence of Launchpad riding a condor, with Donald providing an assit with his camera by blinding the beast so Launchpad can ride him properly giving them more leverage now Launchpad is popular. And a deadline to fix things by tommorow.
The next day Launchapd and Donald have defied logic and their own tendency to screw up and fixed the bird, while Scrooge makes the deal.. and naturally it goes EXACTLY how you’d expect and Scrooge runs, though our real heroes get thigns running.
That’s when the people arrive on condors to persue, a fight insues yoru standard hero stuff.. not bad but given the racist context I can’t really enjoy it like Launchpad flying a condor.. which had some mild racisim in them making him do that as a ritual clearly deisgned to kill him but i’llt ake mild over pretty damn obvious. Eventually douchebag looses his coins, his ctizens abndon him. Happy end.
So with the map Scrooge decides to do the logical thing.... have launchpad drop him in the middle of the ocean in a raft and steer there
Launchpad takes Donald home in time and his superior is mad he dosen’t give him a proper salute.. even though he CLEARLY just got home and is diisorented from a crash. Launchpad makes a quip and this episode mercifully ends.
Final Thoughts:
This episode starts out okay.. but quickly goes downhill fast and steep. There are massive bits of racisim, massive leaps in logic, and massive amoutns of scrooge being a dick.. not his WORST in this series but it’s still bad. It’s just not very good. It’s the second worst episode of Ducktales i’ve seen, only held up by my boys Donald and Launchpad. This was miserable.
Next Time on Treasure of the Golden Suns: Our heroes head to the arctic for another offensive episode to rescue scrooge from his own stupidity. Next Time on this Blog: We return to Green Eggs and Ham and hop on a train as our raging bitchcanoe mother and daughter duo meat our ambigiouslyg ay duo at last.
See you at the next rainbow.
