See these two tags? They’re very good to use (if you want to write negative posts about a character) and very good to block (if you don’t want to see negative posts about a character)

Because yeah, you should be able to voice your opinion! You shouldn’t have to pretend to like a character just because a lot of other people seem to like them.

But maybe

When a character tag updates, like, once every two days on average

Maybe it can get a little tiring for people who like that character to see a bunch of hate towards that character instead of enjoyment

(And then they do stupid things like engage with and argue with that dislike instead of just blocking and moving on, which is genuinely A Dick Move most of the time)

Maybe it can get a little upsetting to see the same

That just gets repeated over and over and over

And stuff out the posts that are about enjoying the character within the tags

So try to use #Anti [Character] and/or #[Character] Critical when you are bringing up your grievances with a specific character, and try to block #Anti [Character] and #[Character] Critical if drama about that character is likely to upset you

Live and let live, and don’t muck up everybody else’s space to engage with what they enjoy

*EDIT: I wanted to reaffirm that I DO NOT dislike Della. She’s one of my favorite characters and I love her as a character. This is just something that occurred to me when I was rewatching the show, specifically when I got to “What Ever Happened to Della Duck” and “GlomTales.*

I can understand why people have criticized Della for the way she grounded Louie. Forcing him to stay in his room. Literally. She had Gyro program that robot, DT87, to make sure he was stuck in there.

I can’t fully justify her actions. But I can somewhat understand her mindset.

So, here’s my argument.

As a child, she was not disciplined enough or at all. Never scolded for a lot of her actions. From what we saw in “First Adventure”, she (and Donald) set a firecracker under her father’s chair which caused him to be hospitalized. It’s been established that she was already very reckless and impulsive.

That only got worse as she grew up adventuring with Scrooge who was just as bad.

Then the Spear of Selene incident happened.

Della being stuck in an isolating environment with nobody but herself is most likely the first time in her life that she actually reflected on her actions and realized how much harm she did, not just to herself but to her family, as well.

That scenario is why she thought the correct way to ground Louie was to literally keep him stuck in his room with no connection to anyone else and the inability to go anywhere else in the mansion.

Android Donald AU Idea

I was hit by a variant of an Android Donald au I've seen on here (this one, to be specific) while at work and I wanna share it. This is pre-dt17/in the same universe. Potentially pre-Spear of Selene as well.

Basically, Donald gets hurt really bad while out fighting. Like really, really bad. He manages to drag himself back to Ducklair Tower, but he's basically in critical condition. Uno isn't as ready as he would have liked for this, but he does have something that can help.

It's basically a healing pod that Ducklair (or maybe Uno himself) had made that wasn't any good for commercial/hospital use because of how much the material cost was and took a lot of time to do its job. But it would take a long time and Donald's family would notice if he just- went missing for a year (or likely longer). It could buy him, buy them, some time to figure out a more efficient way to heal Donald.

But he knows Scrooge and Della are off on an adventure at the moment (Donald had mentioned that it seemed like a long one this time), so he has roughly a month to come up with a plan.

He also has Layla and a tremendous laboratory at his disposal (and he's a supercomputer).

And he hits on something that should allow Donald's body the time it needs to heal as well as keep anyone from getting suspicious.

It's honestly a simple plan overall.

He makes an android body that looks like Donald and (through handwaved science things) he transfers the duck's consciousness to it and makes a link to his own servers with it. Even connecting himself to the body to make sure he can help/make sure he's alright at any time while this is set up.

Donald can pilot the droid body to keep his family from knowing that he'd been hurt while his real body is in the healing pod recovering. And, with the direct link to Uno, he can basically have his partner at a moment's call and even just- Have another person "with" him while dealing with his family. (Also, finances. Uno is a godsend for dealing with all the numbers that Donald just doesn't have a head for.)

The two of them continue this charade for a while, sometimes with Uno actually being with/in Donald's head for a few adventures.

Until Ducklair comes back and (unknowingly) royally screws up the previously smoothly working plan before vanishing into the aether again.

When he shuts down Uno and locks down the tower, Uno actually has part of his AI in Donald. So he's not gone, but he is cut off from his main network. He is still able to get data for the healing pod which is still working, thank the stars. But they can't get to it now since it's locked behind the security of Ducklair Tower.

Both of them are Stressed:tm: about this but there isn't much they can do. So they make do with what they have to work with and keep going. And things mostly go well.

Then the Spear of Selene happens and the duo have a whole new pot of issues to deal with.

Raising triplets is hard, but Uno and the scanners built into the android body make it easier. And Uno is down to help out with more than just that. So things are fairly good, if not as good as either of them would have liked.

Huey, Dewy, and Louie don't know that their Uncle is an android but they do know about Uno.

Since the two shared a body, it was impossible for the boys to never learn about Uno. But since they're really young, Donald and Uno agree that they probably won't understand that Uno is an AI. Advanced computer engineering and robotics are a bit beyond the understanding of a trio of four-year-olds.

The boys end up thinking that Uno is the ghost of a really smart scientist-friend of their Unlce that's possessing him now because he was locked out of his house by his wizard dad. (It wasn't explained in those words, but that was what the boys came away from the conversation thinking.) They have to keep Uncle Uno a secret because otherwise someone might think he was hurting Uncle Donald and would try to make him go away. And their Uncle Uno is cool and knows all kinds of cool things and they don't want someone to make him leave. So they promise to help keep him a secret.

Fast forward to the start of dt17.

I have more, but my brain is tired (it's 10 p.m. rn) so I will continue this later.

I find it funny how I have an entire Ducktales 17 au that’s literally a giant criticism towards season 3 and 2, cause I thought it was wasted potential and also a shitty writing in the main overall plot. Cause I believe there was potential but it was lost in favor of Saturday morning cartoon nostalgia fest. And Della Duck being lost potential as well.

Gyro had seen the guy sitting next to him before but he didn't remember when or where until the guy started talking.

Then he remembered that this was one of the annoying members of the Duck family. Not every member of the Duck family was annoying, but on a scale from Donald to Della Gyro was pretty sure this guy was closer to Della.

"I used to be a Woodchuck." This was only pertinent because they were sitting with the other adults while they waited for a Woodchuck meeting to let out.

"Good for you," Gyro said drily.

"What about you?"

"Uh, no. My son is a Woodchuck, I'm waiting for him."

"Oh, nice, nice. My cousin's son is a Woodchuck too, maybe they're friends."

"Is your cousin's son Huey Duck?"

"Yeah! How'd know?"

"We've met before," Gyro said.

"Oh! Sorry, I forgot your name. I'm Fethry."

Gyro wasn't going to admit that he'd also forgotten Fethry's name.

"Dr. Gyro Gearloose," he said.

Fethry pointed at the clump of Woodchucks gathered around a fire that they were trying to start.

"Which one's yours?"

"He's the one talking to Huey, they are in fact friends."

"Oh, cool! Huh." Fethry was studying Boyd critically.

"What?" Gyro said, ready to square up if Fethry said something rude about his son.

"He doesn't look much like you. Maybe he looks like his mother?"

Gyro thought about Mrs. Drake, who he co-parented with.

"No." Then he relented and added, "He's a robot."

"Oh! Well family comes in every shape and size. My family is mostly krill."

That jogged something in Gyro's memory, "Ah, yes, you run the other underwater lab."

Fethry nodded proudly.

"It's incredible down there."

"Mine is slightly easier to reach from land," Gyro said, feeling like he should also be bragging.

"Probably better for raising a robot," Fethry said, not catching onto Gyro's ego.

"Yeah. It is."

Never mind, there was no use competing with someone who wasn't competitive. They chatted a little longer about the ocean, science, and Woodchucks before drifting back to their own worlds, and Gyro moved Fethry up a little further in his Duck family rankings.

Della gave Fergus a big smile as he said these words. She walked over to give him another hug and kiss on the cheek. "Thank you Grandpa," she said. "It's been like a strange and wonderful feeling coming to family I never knew. "And it's even gotten bigger and better...DNA or not," she said and rubbed Webby's head.

Webby smiled at that. The revelation that she was actually Scrooge McDuck's clone, and had clones of her own (named May and June who were currently home and were looked after by Daisy Duck) had taken some adjustment to, on both Webby and Scrooge's parts. More so on Scrooge's as he realized he'd neglected his own daughter for about ten years, before his grandnephews showed up on his doorstep and he started taking this group of kids on adventures. Then there was awful day on the Sunchaser as it was then called, when all the children found out the truth about what had happened to their mother, and Webby criticized the whole idea of allowing Della to go up into space after having just laid three eggs.

"This is a family matter! You are not family!" he told Webby angrily. Of course by then she'd worked their relationship up to where he was kind of an honorary uncle to her. He thought at the moment she may have overstepped some boundaries but still, and the more he looked back at the situation she wasn't wrong. He didn't have to be such a jerk about he realized. And now considering she was actually biological family just somehow made him feel all the worse about it.

Webby wasn't sure whether to consider herself a true McDuck by this point, though most of Scrooge's employees such as Ms. Quackfaster did address her as "Miss McDuck" when she visited the Money Bin on occasion. She still identified as Webby Vanderquack though. She felt was just mostly glad to have ANY relationship with Scrooge and his whole awesome family, let alone his "rightful heir" according to the Papyrus of Binding, since most of her life she'd been ignored and sheltered by her "grandmother," Bentina Beakley, who it turned out had absolutely no blood or legal relation to her at all. They still loved each other just the same, but the only biological family she'd ever known was just her found family, whereas before it had always been the reverse. Most of the Duck family told her that her newfound DNA relation to them didn't really matter much at all and they all still loved her the same amount, especially Scrooge. One thing it did mean to her was that it somewhat justified all the times she had overstepped her boundaries. As Scrooge himself seemed to feel, there were certain lines she just couldn't cross while she was found family, as much as they all loved her. Moreover, being Scrooge's heir meant she had some very big spats to fill. She preferred to not to think too much about being his heiress anyway, because assuming it meant that she was in line in to one day inherit his fortune, it logically followed that one day he would finally pass on, and a world without Scrooge, who'd gone from being her idol from afar, to "Mr. McDuck," to "Uncle Scrooge" to finally "Dad," was too much for her to fathom.

Castle Mcduck, Modern Year.

There are times when Fergus thinks about his legacy, what little one he had to show for himself, anyway. He was a poor man, a laborer, for much of his long life and had nothing to show for all his time working around. His decision to give his only son an American dime to teach him a lesson in self-reliance had started a landslide of events that led to his son’s growing wealth and despite the immense pride he took in him for making a name worth standing for, it pained Fergus to linger on. Ever since that encounter with Dirty Dingus Mcduck, he started to reflect more and more on his place as this family’s head, if that honor should really be his or not. Had he been mooching off of Scrooge’s good fortune? Had he been too harsh on the boy during his last visit? He loved him dearly, his harshness usually revolved around the pain that came with hardly seeing his kin, that much he'd told the boy but was it justified? He didn't even help rebuild the home he sleeps in, did he truly have a right to feel the way he did about him? Or to make the claims he’s made?

He’s done so little for him in recent years, all he's succeeded in doing is pushing their relationship further apart and argue about pointless things, or at least, now they seemed rather pointless. Arguing did seem to be the love language of their family, a feature most of their descendants inherited or were taught in life. As a younger man, he despaired over them, but, grew to be used to it as years went on——maybe they’d all been wrong, selfish, for allowing themselves to fall into that generational trap. This next visit, he swore, he’d do better and he'd try harder, that’s a vow he made on his honor as a McDuck.

Scrooge’s next visit shouldn't be too far away, he hoped, its been increasingly more difficult to keep track of the time in the castle with there being no modern calendars or any cellular device to rely upon. Downy was surely fretting about the household and its cleanliness downstairs, she always did, so he got up and began to walk away from his thoughts in order to go help his precious wife with the household duties, he'd been doing more of that recently, not that he's never helped at all, just a small thing he noticed since last visit.

i saw your post abt dt critical takes and... i know i'll sound repetitive and ppl already said this probably, but. why is gyro more of a plot tool than a character

when he appears in episodes, he always sets things in motion only for the rest of the cast to act. we saw so little of him, over time it almost felt like the connection he had to other characters weakened. sure boyd is there, but what can you say about the other characters? did fenton truly ever gain gyro's respect? do we know anything about gyro and scrooge's dynamic? about gyro as a whole outside his job?

okay this went on for a bit too long i'm kind of not normal abt gyro. but yeah!

honestly gyro stans can say this as much as they want bc its true objectively😅

like in the comics he mainly exists to be the Cool Next-door Inventor, but we get to see how he interacts with Donald AND Scrooge, and even Daisy or Gladstone sometimes! He's really personally connected to the family, even outside of work

i always found weird/kinda funny how Gyro is included in the family in Glomtales because... does he really count? Has he even had any interactions with Webby or Dewey? Who sees him as even a part of their found family?

And it's really disappointing we don't get to see more of Gyro + Scrooge's dynamic! In the Dime Chase episode we get a little bit ("what did we say about the cards" or whatever) but i can't really think of anything outside of that (unless you include scrooge saying he's Just a "work acquaintance" to magica lol) But like. Gyro BUILT the Spear of Selene. but it's never addressed besides a short gag in Whatever Happened to Della Duck?

And speaking of Della, I'm really sad we never got to see them interact in-person, because it seems like they would have had a really funny dynamic! (Impossibin and the "Even Della could understand these" (i dont remember the exact quote but you know what im talking about)

and now that im thinking about it he really doesn't have a life outside of work 😭i think he just sleeps in the lab?? and i dont think we ever see him build personal things that aren't work related besides the Time stuff (which probably exist so that Timephoon could exist? because i dont think it's ever mentioned Why he made them)

it's really a shame we didn't see more of team science (together) after astro-boyd :( i think we can assume that he has more respect for Fenton in Beaks in the Shell because he thinks it's cool and helps them with it, but i don't think we get anymore team science after that
