ooooooooooooh THIS.
Getting to the end of dt17, and I’m going crazy over this impending doom. It is becoming ever more clear that the duck family are NOT THE GOOD GUYS. It’s been iv dripped to us the whole time. The property damage has been brought up, and brushed off. The whole “playing in to the bad guy” role during The Rumble For Ragnarok being not so different from how Scrooge is regularly. Bradford’s remarks about perspective at the end of Let’s Get Dangerous. Just… all the little details in the series, masked by the blatant overpowering themes… trust, working together, all the little episode lessons that have been leading up to THIS. And yet Scrooge is still greedy. He’s selfish. But the writers have been revving up to tackle this. The Forbidden Fountain of the Foreverglades used Goldie as a foil, showing how Scrooge has grown and come to have a sound moral compass, compared to how he “used to be”. They’re not the ducks they used to be, after all. This gets me extra excited for ep.22, The Life and Crimes of Scrooge McDuck. I have ten episodes left to watch. They WILL tackle Scrooges character and his development. He will be punished for what he’s done. But what happens to his family? His friends and allies? After all, it’s Dellas fault the moon invaded, isn’t it? (At least from an outside perspective, it is.) Most, if not all the family has caused massive damage, it’s not just Scrooge. And it’s not for nothing that it’s pointed out in Escape from the ImpossiBin that Scrooges allies are the most “dementedly dangerous minds”. Dewey himself says it. “Is it weird that the most ‘dementedly dangerous minds’ are all friends of ours?” Even if we ignore Gyro, it is true. The Duck family and its allies have SINNED. I have never been more excited to see a series pan out. I get more anxious with every episode, every hint. The Duck Family’s disregard for others wellbeing’s will be the thing that opens the door to tackling their selfishness.
I’m so terrified of the end. In order to mend their selfishness, they need to put others first. Which, essentially, means an end to adventuring. Every attack on the city is because of them. We know this. And yes, they may fix it, but that doesn’t mean they’re not responsible for the damage they caused while doing so! The only way to stop this cycle is to end the adventures. Cease taking the risks. Scrooge won’t go down easy, but it will happen. After all, this show has been about the end this whole time. Fountain of the Foreverglades makes us see Scrooge no longer values the profit of the adventure over his family. And some of the nostalgic themes… at the end of the Trickening, when the photo of them is shown looking so old, in the worn out house I cried. Why that nostalgia and ache for the past if we’re not building up to the end itself?
#dt17#ducktales#I honestly am SO STOKED#NO SPOILERS IF IT DOES OR DOESNT PAN OUT THIS WAY#but the series finale HAS to tackle this#I mean it’s what they’ve been building up to!#ooooooooh I love this series and how it’s written#This will tear my heart out and throw it on the ground and stomp on it won’t it?#Of course it will#I’m dying over here

I love that The Ghost and Molly McGee's forced cancellation isn't just frustrating to fans of the show but to people in the animation industry as well. They're just as sick as we are about how much studios disrespect animation. They keep looking for the next Spongebob, Simspons, or goodness forbid Family Guy, but instead having faith in the creators and their content, they just...wait. They wait to make a profit and do the bare minimum to market their shows and make them available.
Let's look at Gravity Falls for example. I remember that when Gravity Falls was still airing, you would be able to find out a new episode was coming out based on coming across a commercial by random chance or by the people working the show promoting it online. Add that with the fact that it was on a different channel that required you paying MORE for your cable to get it. It WAS available through Disney Channel, a channel more available at a cheaper price, but the entire of Season Two got moved to the more expensive Disney XD, where Disney shows go to die, because...REASONS. With no warning or announcement. I think I found out about Gravity Falls moving to Disney XD because the trailer played during a commercial break. And that's just the START the show's problems. Mixed in with poor marketing, the show would have a crazy inconsistent schedule, where we'd have four episodes a week, a few months of NOTHING, a few more episodes a week, nothing for a few months, a random episode playing between that nothingness with next to no promotion, and all of that happening to the rest of the show until it finally died a slow death with its series finale where four episodes got stretched out for six months. That...is NOT okay. And it doesn't stop with Gravity Falls.
Steven Universe, OK KO, Ducktales 2017, Amphibia, The Owl House, and now Ghost and Molly McGee are all shows that had similar and sometimes WORSE treatments as Gravity Falls did, where the networks gave next to NO marketing, the creators had to promote their own shows themselves, and the airing schedules were so inconsistent with wildly long hiatuses that only the most dedicated fans were willing to keep watching. General audiences (mainly kids) weren't willing to keep up with shows that had ongoing stories if the episodes stories kept being too spaced apart and never had reruns as frequent as other shows like Teen Titans Go or Big City Greens (Or whatever's constantly on network TV nowadays. I don't know. I mostly watch shit on streaming).
The people of the animation industry is catching onto all of these tricks, and they're getting sick of it. They're getting sick of inconsistent schedules. They're getting sick of trying to bend over backwards in every possible way to make the show they wanted. By either making serialized content as episodic as possible so the network could air it more or by condensing their stories as much as they can, already expecting that forced cancellation to happen sooner than later. And in some cases, they don't even get the luxury of being told their show is ending. Did you know that Inside Job and Paranormal Park both had seasons that were already in development before Netflix pulled the plug shortly after releasing new episodes of their shows? Did you know that The Ghost and Molly McGee was already working on a Season Three before Disney shut that down so they had to force out a series finale that would still be good despite the cancellation? Because it's true. It's ALWAYS true. Creators want to make MORE, but the studios won't let them because they didn't profit off of it. Except they WOULD HAVE if they treated it better.
I want kids to grow up with characters that stick around through their childhood, just like I did with mine. I want kids to have their own Ed, Edd n Eddy, Codename: Kids Next Door, Phineas and Ferb, or Kim Possible. I want kids to watch shows that last more than two-three seasons, stick around for years, and leave an impact as if they have all the time in the world because to them, it feels like they do. I want kids to have a show that ends on a high note because the creators wanted it and not because the networks demanded it. But the unfortunate thing is that it doesn't seem possible nowadays. Because if a mostly episodic show like The Ghost and Molly McGee fails, despite being charming and inoffensive and something most kids will love, the what hope IS left.

Best aroace parent; FINAL ROUND 🔥
Propaganda for Darius Deamonne 💛; The first time we see him interact with Hunter, the kid he'll later adopt, he's rather rude with him, but after reconsidering his opinion of him, we get all of these little moments and hints about how much their relationship has improved and how much he cares, until they actually become a family in the finale.
As for his orientation, a lot of people like to hc him as gay because of his pettiness towards an old friend from his childhood, but aside from one blush, he doesn't actually seem to pursue any kind of romantic relationship with him nor anybody else, rather forming a family with Hunter and Eberwolf, who's been said to be like a brother to him.
As a bonus, his color palette is full of purples and greens just like the aro and ace flags, which is rather fun
Propaganda for Cale Henituse 💛; He mainly parents 3 children (Raon, On, Hong) but also takes care of multiple other children. He is oblivious to other people's affection for him and thinks of beauty objectively and calls others beautiful often without any underlying feelings.
Propaganda for Della Duck 💛; She’s literally the best mom ever (eventually) and this does not once take away her ability to be a character in her own right. She gets trapped on the moon for 10/12 years (sources vary) while her brother looks after her sons and she spends every single day of those years trying desperately to get back to them. Mid season 2 she finally gets back to her kids and tries her best to become the mother she missed out on being while her kids grew up. She learns that she doesn’t need to be the “perfect” mother, it’s just important that she’s there now. She bonds with her kids and is just overall an incredibly supportive and encouraging mother.
As for her being aroace, the father of her kids is never addressed and never even a question asked in universe. Imo she just had kids cause she wanted to have kids, all ready to be a single parent. She also really just doesn’t show attraction to anyone throughout the series so it’s fairly common to hc her as aroace.

TV ANIMATION: Della Duck (Ducktales) - Amputee, Prosthetic Leg User
Della Duck made her animated debut in the television series DuckTales, first appearing at the end of the two-part season finale “The Shadow War!” on August 18, 2018.
She is a seasoned pilot and adventurer, having once accompanied Donald and their uncle, Scrooge McDuck, on globe-trotting expeditions. The mystery surrounding her disappearance serves as the emotional core of the show’s narrative.
Unique to the series, however, is the character’s depiction as an amputee. As revealed in the episode “What Ever Happened to Della Duck?!“, Della’s leg was injured in the crash, resulting in her amputating the limb and instilling a robotic prosthetic in its place.
The showrunners collaborated with the Amputee Coalition of America in portraying Della as an amputee. According to Youngberg and Angones, they did not want Della’s disability to define her character, as “she's dealing with a lot of other things,”.
They explicitly wanted to avoid portraying her as “the amputee hero”. Rather, the circumstances surrounding Della’s disability highlight the perseverance and overall spirit of her character, proving that “nothing would stop her." [wiki]

DuckTales (2017) series reaction
I never thought I’d be so entertained by the adventures of hyperactive ducks, but it turned out to be really enjoyable!
I never really conceptualized Disney’s mainstay characters (Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck, etc.) as real characters. They mostly seemed like mascots used in the Disney parks and merchandise, or stock characters that could be slipped into any kind of story. I didn’t see any continuity between different works featuring them, or know of any official canon timeline. The thing that usually draws me into a story is the characters’ development and relationships, so Donald Duck and his family didn’t hold much interest for me.
That was until YouTube made me aware of some of the characters and events in the DuckTales reboot. I learned some spoilers that intrigued me, and then did what I often do with shows that have finished their run: watch clips and sample episodes about the characters I’m interested in. But I realized that there had been a lot of buildup to what I watched, and I’d have to go back to the beginning to fully understand the story. So a few weeks ago, I watched the first episode of the old series to get a little foundation, then dove into the reboot. I watched the series finale tonight.
This show had a lot of things I love to see in stories: interactions between characters of multiple generations; parents and children learning to work together; long-lost or separated family members finding their way back to each other; and charming recurring characters. The structure was excellent, with plotlines and character arcs that carry through each season, and over the course of the whole show.
The voice cast is fantastic, for major and minor characters alike. Nearly every episode prompted me to look up the voice actors and figure out where I’d heard them before. It also reminded me of many other cartoons I’ve enjoyed, including Kim Possible, Steven Universe, Carmen Sandiego, and Voltron: Legendary Defender. A few episodes are clearly inspired by classic movies, such as Jaws and The Martian. And the more I research the show, the clearer it is that the writers love the source material and pay homage to it while building their own story.
I’ve never seen another Disney work where Donald and his family are fleshed out as characters with complex personalities and compelling arcs. The triplets Huey, Dewey, and Louie have different strengths and interests, and a pretty realistic sibling dynamic, instead of being basically the same person in triplicate. My favorite characters were Della Duck, Goldie O’Gilt, and Fenton Crackshell-Cabrera (voiced by Lin-Manuel Miranda!). But, I probably relate most to Huey’s eldest-sibling mentality and thirst for knowledge, and Webby’s enthusiasm and tendency toward obsession in hobbies.
The creed that “Family is the greatest adventure of all” was a little heavy-handed, but that does not make it any less true. Even though most of the characters are related, there is also a strong theme of “found family.” And another theme emerged through multiple characters’ arcs: embracing the unknown with courage and solidarity. That is something we all need now.
In short: DuckTales is one of those reboots that honors the past but also grows beyond its predecessor to tell a new and enjoyable story for both old and new fans.
“Face each new sun with eyes clear and true Unafraid of the unknown, because I’ll face it all with you.”

Even though the show is over, I wanted to share my story of how I got into DuckTales 2017.
So, I’ve always enjoyed anything Disney but as I got older I kind of started shying away from it and became a lot more interested in the horror/slasher genre. So when I heard there was a DuckTales reboot coming out, at first I was like okay, cool. But I didn’t watch it.
Then one day I was scrolling through YouTube and suddenly DuckTales content was filling my feed and I’m just like, why? Lol. I haven’t been watching anything Disney related so why does this keep popping up? The videos consisted of the episode, The Spear of Selene.
After a few days of seeing nothing but that in my feed, I finally decided to watch the pilot, and I thought, “Wow, this show is actually pretty damn good!”, and I ultimately fell in LOVE with the show, especially the ending with Dewey finding that portrait of Della, which intrigued me. Ever since I was little, I would watch specials with the triplets and not even think about their parents so when they brought up Della, I was hooked.
Plus by the time I binged the first season, season two hadn’t premiered yet and I thought that was perfect. I caught up just in time to get hyped for season two.
I’m so happy I got to experience this show when I did and got to be a part of the hype and the fandom in its prime. It’s become one of my favorite series ever. It’s the reason I gave shows like Amphibia and Owl House a chance.
If anyone else wants to share, I’d LOVE to read your stories about how you got into the show!

Finished DuckTales 2017 and WOW what a phenomenal series
The final moments left me smiling and teary-eyed the whole time 🥹🥹
That's how blown away I was
Now there's this terrible void that I'm afraid no other show can fill for a while...
The writing for these characters we've known and loved for so many years was so well done
Probably my favorite characterization of Donald ever
I'm gonna miss this show so much 😭😭😭💛💛

Hi Tumblr :D 👋
My name is Sundew, I’m a MINOR (high school age) I’m acespec, pan, trigender, xenogender, ambiamorous, and use all pronouns
I’m an artist, actor, script writer, theatre kid, and AuDHD haver
Current hyperfixations: DSMP, Hatchetverse, The Skinjacker Trilogy reincarnation AU, my OC's
Special Interests: DSMP, musical theatre, casinos, Tumblr history, and some others that I can’t think of off the top of my head
Current fandoms: DSMP, musical theatre (especially Hatchetverse), Trolls, Frankenstein or the Modern Prometheus, Amphibia, TOH, DDLC, The Skinjacker Trilogy, ROTTMNT, Ramshackle (kind of), QSMP (kind of), Gravity Falls, Steven Universe Nimona, Mitchel’s vs the Machines, Chikn Nugget (that counts as a fandom right?), Bluey, SheRa, Ducktales, Adventure Time, Vocaloid, Tangled the Series, DHMIS, Descendants, Moral Orel, and probably more tbh
I'm currently working on 5 different DSMP AU's/ animated fanfics, and one day I would like to make 'DSMP the Animated Series' and my high fantasy OC's cartoon, both of which would be indie animated and available on YouTube (but we'll cross those bridges when we get there)
This blog does not support cc!Wilbur or his actions, cc!Wilbur supporters DNI
Speaking of DNI, here’s my DNI list: queerphobes in ANY way (and that includes hating on xenogender people and people who use neopronouns), racists, sexist/misogynists, zionists, antisemitic/neo-nazis, islamophobes, anti therian and anti furry people, cc!Wilbur Soot/William Gold supporters, cc!Dream Team supporters, Robert Manion supporters
I post very sporadically because of school (and by post I mean post creative works, like fanart and scripts), but when I do post, it’ll mainly be DSMP stuff (especially my own AU’s), but I will also post stuff for other fandoms, especially Hatchetverse
I’m absolutely obsessed with c!TNT duo and with take pretty much any opportunity I can get to draw/talk about them. Same with Wilbur Cross and the Lords in Black (and Webby)
Like I said earlier, I don’t not support cc!Wilbur in any way shape or form. That being said I really really super like c!Wilbur (o!Wilbur and q!Wilbur are neat too) and most of my AU’s have him as a big role
Feel free to ask me about my DSMP or Hatchetverse headcanons (or headcanons for any other fandom listed above), just know I might not always answer immediately because of school and shit like that
Also, I have a few side blogs:
@csundewsaysfuckitwebawl my DSMP OC role play blog
@yousummonusonceyousummonustwice my Lords in Black and Queen in White ask blog
@just-a-lil-theatre-guy my Hatchetverse OC role play blog

@alchemicalwerewolf @silverwaredrawersys @beattlecub (no longer on Tumblr 😔😔😔)
Triple also, finally updated my pronouns
Anyway, I hope you all have a nice day and enjoy my Tumblr :D
